Y'know, Mae was pretty sure she was born in these woods. Why was that? Well, first thing she remembered were these woods. It was a very strange time, too. She was all alone and stuff until she got picked up by that hermit-looking guy and then everything else that happened in her life happened.
And now she was back here, at the outskirts of the woods. Why?
For the purpose of reclaiming some belongings of hers. Might be a bit hard with her camping supplies weighing her down, but it was at the very least worth a shot. The Keramon was more or less steeling her nerves. She heard a story about a ghostly imp within the forest, so she might need to actually be a little wary of stuff in here...

One forest dweller who was not afraid of any 'ghost' was a 13-year-old bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Tamer named Buck. It helped, perhaps, that he was already quite prepared for whatever the woods might throw at him, so he believed: already he had his tent erected, for he was entering day two of just another camping trip in the digital world. His pack full of food, water, and various other supplies was securely tucked away inside the small structure, though he naturally kept his utility knife in his jeans pocket. This was a tool, of course, not a weapon.
After all, besides the ineffectiveness of human metal against the dangers of the digital world - not that Buck was familiar with them - why even bother bringing a weapon when his companion seemed perfectly capable of handling any unpleasant business? How ironic that the young camper's companion was a brown variety Bearmon who, Buck noticed, at one point began to curiously sniff the air in a particular direction. "Smell something interesting?" The young lad queried his partner.
At first, as was his usual sort of response, Wylde gave Buck neither a yes nor a no nor any verbal reply at all. Instead, he just twitched his head in the direction of the smell. After that, though, he elaborated, "There's a digimon approaching. No human. Be cautious." Sure, it just so happened that Wylde and Buck's campsite was along the path of a Keramon much more scared of her surroundings than Wylde was, but out of abundance of caution he wasn't ready to completely let down his guard until he could meet the stranger himself - or it passed by without incident.

Well... this was certainly one of the more unusual situations Colin found himself in. It was a fresh day in the Digital World, and it would seem fate had him and his twin partners Luke the Elecmon and Bellamy the Impmon heading toward the Eastern Timberlands. For what reason? Well, they had recently come across the village of Rosewood and saw that it was a rather pleasant newly built civilization. And unlike most places in the digital world it seemed to be aiming for expanding its area. So, why was he currently standing aboard a rail hand pump trolley going along a section of old Trailmon track away from the village? Well, partly because these tracks apparently led to an old quarry that could be a useful source of building materials for the village if a connection was established. Partly for exercise. And partly because this part of the woods was a place where other digimon feared to tread. But with Colin being the partner of two digimon capable of biomerging to Super Mega, well, he didn't have much to fear. Which was also why his partners were sitting at the front of the trolley, with Luke loudly playing a keytar and Bellamy singing a song into a microphone, a large boombox between them. "Jungle life, I'm far away from nowhere On my own like Tarzan boy Hide and seek, I play along while rushin' 'cross the forest Monkey business on a sunny afternoon~
Jungle life, I'm livin' in the open Native beat that carries on Burnin' bright, A fire blows the signal to the sky I sit and wonder, does the message get to you?
Singing Oh-wee-oh-wee-oh-wee-oh-ho-ho-oh~ Singing Oh-wee-oh-wee-oh-wee-oh-ho-ho-oh~""Dammit guys why do you have to play 80's songs?" Colin asked with a scowl. "It's like riding with my dad again". Mr. James would frequently play his techno 80's music at full volume when taking Colin to and from school. "Heh, and here we were thinking you liked Nostalgia" Luke said. They were playing music just in case there was someone on the tracks ahead, although unlikely, none of them really wanted to collide with a random Trailmon coming in the other direction. Welp, with the noise they were making, it'd be obvious to others from the rolling cacophony of 80's techno that they were approaching. Colin hoped that they wouldn't be anyone bad.

Another day, another densely forested area to explore in the name of science! Or at least that's what the duo of a bleached haired man and a small impmon kept thinking to themselves to justify this trip into the Server Woods, though truth be told it was more an excuse to get away from the Club and all the...insanity surrounding it right now.
Funny. In all their time looking about the Digital world they had managed to neglect visiting anything on the East side. Well, better late than never, Carlos supposed.
Funnier still was how they somehow always found a way to gravitate towards the nearest forest or jungle for some reason. Sure, their track records with woods was...all over the place admitedly, but . Some people on their way had mentioned a thing or two about the forest being haunted, though that was of little concern to the duo, even if they had no trouble believing such a thing could exist. After all, they had seen far weirder things already on their travels around the whole digital landscape, a ghost seemed like peanuts compared to stuff like the D-Reaper at this point.
Regardless, after driving a good chunk of the way from the Library to their destination they found the woods to be too dense for their rather big monster of a transport to traverse, so they had been wandering close to the forest for what felt like hours, following along the train tracts that would no doubt take them to the old quarry. Nothing but the chirping of bird digimon and the sound of tree leaves moved by the breeze to keep them company. And meandering. Lots of meandering too.
They're peace and quiet would be interrupted soon however, once they heard something approaching their location. Voices in the distance, the sound of wheels and...a keytar and someone singing? And singing a classic from the 80's at that? If that on its own wasn't bizarre enough to make them stop on their tracks, both human and imp recognized that voice all too well.
Sure enough, not too far from there, riding on a trolley on the tract nearby came a very familiar trio. They waved in their direction, Dio jumping up to stand on Carlos' shoulders, greeting the trio with a grin.
"Hey you lot, this is a peasant free zone, dorks!" Dio yelled in a playfull tone, Carlos rolling his eyes at this and chuckling. "Been a while, hasn't it?"

No point in stalling anymore. Mae exhaled before she began to proceed into the woods. She began to follow a path that had a set of rails next to it and soon enough came upon a very curious sight. People that weren't her, camping here? And it looked like a human that seemed somewhat similar to Wakako but not really. And a Bearmon. Huh.
Wait.
People?
Oh drat. A hundred thoughts raced through Mae's head all at once as she scurried to hide in the nearest thing available to her. Which was a bush. Yes, this was genuinely happening. And audible, too. But what was also happening was a distant sound being heard.
One that grew closer. And closer. And closer. It soon overthrew the chirping of birds. It was also quite...infernal. So much so that it prompted Mae to screech, "...SOMEONE PLEASE CEASE THIS ENRAGEMENT RACKET."
If that didn't clue everyone present, including the other two people that she was -SUPER- unaware of, in that she was here? She was probably some master of stealth.

No, Wylde was not so easy to fool. He was able to track Mae through her whole path through scent even without sight - not that his eyes weren't perfectly good, of course. On detection, Bearmon locked his gaze straight in the Keramon's direction, which probably showed her that she was marked by the ursine digimon from the very beginning. In fact, he was about to call the stranger digimon out until the sound of the music (if such a term can be used so loosely) reached his ears, which made them prick up slightly. When it did, Bearmon broke his gaze, tugged Buck's sleeve, and pointed in the sound's direction when the young Tamer asked, "What is it?"
But the sound promptly reached Buck's own ears, too, at which point he raised a curious eyebrow in its direction... until Mae's outburst once again reminded the pair of her presence. When it did, Wylde charged straight toward the Digimon, slid to a stop just outside her bush, reached in, and attempted to pull Mae out into plain view.

Bellamy and Luke caught sight of Carlos and Dio rather quickly, the two of them stopping the music. Both of them waved back. "Hey guys!" Bellamy said through the microphone. Colin noticed something was up and saw them as well.
"Ah, neat, didn't think we'd bump into them here" he said, and applied the brake on the handcart until it came to a stop near the other duo. "Hey there, funny meeting you guys here" he said. The three of them jumped down from the cart for the moment.
Unlike their last meeting, Luke and Bellamy were wearing their travelling gear - consisting of leather shoulder armor covering one shoulder each; bearing each of their crests. Other than that there was just their scarves and Bellamy's gloves.
They were distracted by the shout of someone to cease this enragement racket. Luke quickly turned the boombox off for the moment, leaving the keytar and microphone on the cart. "What was that?" Bellamy asked, looking in the direction of the bushes. There he saw another young human and a Bearmon nearby. "That Tetsu?" he wondered, but it wasn't so. The boy didn't have Tetsu's hair, and the Bearmon was brown, unlike Gryz's black fur.
"Well, uh, this is curious" Colin remarked, but turned back to Carlos. "What brings you guys out this way? We weren't expecting to see anyone out here" he said.

As the boys got off the cart, Carlos couldn't help but reach and give Colin a quick hug, hoping the teen wouldn't mind the gesture too much. They hadn't seen eachother for a good chunk of weeks by now after all, and Carlos would have sorely appreciated having the teenager around when things had been as dire as they had been not too long ago.
"Man, it's been forever, how you guys been?" He asked, smiling. True, a bunch of weeks might not seem like much, but when so much had happened during them it certainly felt like it had been a long time.
Before anyone could answer however, they were interrupted by a sudden yell coming from not too far from them, the duo turning around to see another human accompanied by a Bearmon. Where they the ones that yelled? Something about...enragement?
"Uhm, should we check that or..."
Dio, either not noticing or simply not caring about it just shrugged a bit at Colin's question."Funny, I was about to ask you the same thing. What are you guys doing here?"
"As for us? Eh, you know, we're just out doing official Club bussiness, sightseeing, exploring, scanning, you know that sort of thing." He then replied, counting down the list of annswers with his fingers. Carlous meanwhile just...sighed a bit, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Actually, truth be told we just needed a break from...that stuff, you know? I just sorta grabbed the car and sorta drove on a straight line for a bit, and here we are." He chuckled somewhat, sounding uncharacteristically tired. "It's been a busy week."
His tone made it rather telling that this was a huge understatement. Between the many things that had happened as of late to everyone in the club, Carlos felt the need to take a break from it, get away until everything (including himself) cooled down a bit.
Dio, not wanting to dwell on the subject more than it was absolutely necesary and bringing the white haired human even more down, would speak up again. "Hey, do you peasan- I mean friends! Want to tag along? Five heads are better than just two."

Did she just yell? That was actually pretty bad considering everything in this forest probably knew now where she was. Including one of the people nearby. She wasn't quite looking but she felt a claw reach in and grab hold of her. Wylde, being of an equivalent level to the Keramon, would find that Mae was not one for being roused out of hiding so easily, the Keramon attempting to resist being pulled out with every bit of strength in her admittedly strange being. "H-Hey! Lemme go, I wasn't doing anything!"
In her defense, Mae really wasn't.
It was also plaaainly visible that something was up over on her neck of the woods, too.

Not in Mae's defense was the fact that she had decided to hide by the campsite of a little boy and his highly protective digimon partner. And yet, that little boy seemed to completely disregard the fact that the Bearmon was struggling to pull a Keramon out from a hiding spot in the bush. "Oh, hey! Guys!" Buck greeted them without waiting to be invited, completely stepping away. This left Wylde to keep pulling and wrestling with Mae and even grunting with the exertion. "You guys goin' somewhere? Wylde and I were kinda on a solo camping trip, but I always think it's cool meeting other Tamers! Oh, uh, name's Buck. Hey, Wylde! Say hi!"
The ursine digimon looked over at the other group, briefly, but instead of saying hello or even nodding his head, he just rolled his eyes.
"He's... he's the strong, silent type," Buck explained. That was about the time when Wylde gave up on the tug-of-war and rejoined Buck by his side but never took his eyes off Mae's direction. Defensive as he was, he figured human-affiliated digimon were probably less of a risk than a strange solo digimon trying to stay out of sight.

Colin was at first surprised but quickly accepted Carlos's hug. It was always nice to get such a gesture these days, especially with the digital world seeming more hostile each day.
"It's been... average" Colin answered, trying to sound positive but failing. The digital world seemed to be getting less stable every day, and it had been his hope that he and his partners might have been able to bring some extra resources to one of the few remaining peaceful places. Maybe that could happen? But still, he was happy to spend a bit of time with Carlos and Dio again in the meantime.
Speaking of Dio, Bellamy would offer him a fist-bump as a greeting. Little more than that was necessary, since Bellamy felt he had reached a friendship level with the other Impmon that didn't need to be discussed further. Luke understood this only partially, given that he had not seen the extent of their adventure in Old Terminus, but knew enough that Bellamy and Dio's friendship was true.
So, Dio was active in club business? That sounded cool. "Heh, nice stuff" Bellamy replied. Honestly, he was starting to hear a lot about the Digital Field Club's exploits by now and was beginning to become interested in joint operations with them sometime in the future. But Carlos's expression and statement made it seem like he'd had quite the week and was at his limit, so Bellamy asked no further along those lines.
Following that, there seemed to be a kerfuffle about in the bushes. Namely in the fact that a Bearmon was trying to draw out a Keramon, and the Keramon didn't want to be drawn out. This seemed to be something straightforward in comparison for Colin and his partners.
"Um, hello there...!" Colin said unsurely in their direction. He was glad to see that the Bearmon swiftly gave up on trying to drag the Keramon out, since it would have likely caused more problems than good things. So, seemed they were all gathering in this place.
"Heh, interesting coincidence" Luke remarked. Bellamy glanced at him curiously. "I mean, these woods are rumoured to be haunted by Impmon, and now there's two present".
"Heh, doubt my spirit's doin' much haunting" Bellamy scoffed. But he glanced at Dio nonetheless for his opinion on that myth.

Well one thing was certain: it seemed Colin was not exactly having a good time as of late either. There was a sense of solace and perhaps even camaradery to be found in that, though he too decided against asking any further than that.
Meanwhile Dio was taken a bit aback by Bellamy's way of greeting him. Right, it was still a bit hard for him to get used to such a thing as fist bumping someone, even something as simple as shaking hands felt odd for the Dark Lord to be doing on a daily basis with anyone , even a dear friend. He shook his head a bit, but reciprocated the fist bump with his own soon enough. For Bellamy he could always make an exception, as long as the other Impmon didn't try to invent some sort of secret handshake, it was fine by him.
Luckily before the conversation between them went into possibly depressing places and topics they approached the boy and the two other digimon
"Hey, name's Carlos, litte guy there is Dio." The man waved at the other three, pointing at his partner just to be completely clear on which one of the digimon was his partner. Following that he shot a puzzled look at the rather distraught looking Keramon that was seemingly being dragged around against its will, but figured it was maybe a bit early to start asking questions.
The impmon however, did not greet the group back, too busy also glaring at the Keramon with suspicion and distrust.
That Keramon...
Dio couldn't put his finger on it, but something about that digimon felt extremely offputting to him for some reason. His hair stood up and a cold shiver crawled down his spine. Such a feeling was awfully familiar but... Thinking it was probably just his imagination, he'd try to focus on something else as he turned to face the other impmon as he shared his thoughts on the ghost stories surrounding this place.
"Haunted? Feh, superstitions and fairy tales. Most likely it's just a story to keep the town kids entertained and well behaved." He shrugged, not really being one to worry about such a thing as wandering spirits or ghosts. Even if there was one here, chances are it probably wouldn't be able to harm them if it was in any way similar to the spirits that guy on the ruins wielded: threatening looking surely, but incorporeal and therefore completely harmless to anyone else.
At least he hoped so.

One had to hand it to Wylde--He was quite adept at wrangling one of, if not the single most slippery rookies to wrangle. Thankfully, when she was eventually released? She kept her distance. She kept her distance and leveled a serious gaze at Wylde.
Try that again? He just might regret it. Dio had every right to feel as he did. For something was repressed in that Keramon. She slowly turned her gaze towards the two Impmon, the Elecmon, and the two humans. She slooowly tried to calm herself down. It's okay. Everything's fine.
"I-I'm Mae. Hi. I was born here. I came to get some stuff that was mine. I might need help keeping ghosts away."

Frankly, Buck had to laugh pretty hard when it came to talk of ghosts. How could he not? Sure, the boy loved a good story and even a couple of movies that were a little inappropriate for his age, but nonetheless he couldn't even start to take ghost talk seriously. His reaction started with a poorly restrained chuckle that soon morphed into a boisterous laugh. "Come on, guys. Be real! We're totally surrounded by funny little creatures in another world, but I guarantee you ghosts are as fake here as they are there."
Of course, for good measure, Buck had to run a little test. So he slinked right in front of Bellamy, greeted, "Hey, dude!" cheerfully... and then poked him quite firmly in the chest... twice, perhaps for extra certainty. Then he repeated the test on Dio. "...nope. Solid."
Meanwhile, the Bearmon kept his eyes on Mae, though he did so only out of the corners of his eyes. He listened intently and nodded in response to her introduction. Her timid demeanor seemed to calm him; she was nothing to worry about.

"Yeah, thought so" Bellamy said, agreeing with Dio. "Us Impmon have got better things to do than randomly haunt forests anyway".
"Like singing 80's songs through a boombox" Colin quipped. Bellamy turned and poked his tongue out at him.
So, the Keramon's name was Mae, and it turned out she was born in this forest. She was here to retrieve some stuff that belonged to her, but was a bit nervous about ghosts. Well, Colin and the twins didn't mind helping out, but, this part of the forest was kinda spooky. How the wind blew through the trees, how there was no natural sounds like birdsongs or insect chirping, how the rail track was somewhat derelict and rusty, how one could see strange shadows in their peripheral vision that wasn't there when they looked closer.
Then the human boy walked up to Bellamy and poked him in the chest, immediately causing the Impmon to scowl. "Hey! Hands off the merchandise!" he complained, stepping back. The emoji on his white chest seemed to change a little from a grinning face to a scowl too as it was poked. Then the boy did the same to Dio, which made Luke figure out what he was doing.
"Dio and my brother aren't ghosts, kid" the Elecmon said, trying not to sound amused.
