"Holy... nice! I love it!" Buck was referring to the Ancient Ruins, more specifically a grand temple in it that seemed to stand the test of time much better than the surrounding architecture. Soon as Buck's number two, a Bearmon, mentioned the place in casual conversation, the young Tamer knew he had to see it. That was why, one day after school, Wylde neglected to get on the train he normally would have taken home so that he could instead take a very special train to a very special place. As it turned out, Trailmon were even able to bring the boy and his bear straight to the desert and even all the way to the ruins themselves. From there, the pair took their time exploring, seeing things, and just taking in the scene. "What do you think this place used to be?"
"I never met a digimon who knew," Bearmon uncharacteristically responded. What made it so uncharacteristic was that he rarely spoke at all. This wasn't due to lack of ability, however, nor awkwardness or timidity; it was a mere lack of need.
"Do you think we could go in?"
The excitement behind Buck's suggestion made Bearmon recoil. "I-In? Absolutely not. The area is littered with traps and danger. Even though treasure hunters love it-"
"Did you say 'treasure hunters?'" Too late. It sounded like Buck's mind was made up.

Even though his thief days were over, Boru was not a stranger to going for a walk across the Folder Desert to look for some items. Even though he wasn’t on to steal anything and then sell it to local merchants to buy food for the homeless anymore, he knew he could find pretty interesting stuff laying on the sand. He and his brothers were taking a day off from the building of the shelter they were working on along Roff (Meramon Rustport’s officer), so he had decided to take advantage of that fact that Andrea the Vermillimon was visiting them at the old town and rode his friend to the desert seeking for some goods. Maybe something they could decorate the shelter with, or probably other of those useless objects he used to gather and then keep around home doing nothing but gathering dust. Even though what was home had changed since the Gururu Cave crumbled and now the Psychemon trio were living at Roff’s house, for the time being, his ways had not changed.
As the gigantic dinosaur stomped promptly through the desert with Boru on board, he growled, looking up and addressing his rider. –Well… I miss her too. –The Psychemon replied since he could clearly understand his growling. Andrea was asking about Jazz, Boru’s sister, the leader of Jazz’s bandits (the band that Boru belonged to) and also the dinosaur’s close friend. She wanted to know when would she be coming back to visit. Boru frowned, not really knowing what to say, but the truth. –I don’t think she’s coming back soon, Andrea. –He explained with a rather sad countenance. –Once we’re done with the shelter, Koru, Roru and I are going to look for her. –The small horned digimon added, with a smile.
While they spoke, Andrea had lowered his pace, as they had gotten inside the Ancient Ruins, some sort of half-destroyed and very antique city, completely abandoned and with almost crumbling structures. Boru used to come here to gather stuff pretty often, so he was keeping his eyes open in search of any item that could be lying around. What they found was something pretty different from what they expected: a blonde haired human kid, standing next to a Beamon, a bear-like digimon wearing a blue cap and strips around his paws. They seemed to be studying an old temple they had just in front of them. If Andrea’s heavy stomping wasn’t enough to raise their attention, Boru, who at first seemed reluctant about greeting the human, decided to wave at the duo. –Hi there. –The Psychemon started with a flat tone. –Have you seen any kind of item around here I can take home? –He then frowned, thinking that might be an odd question. –I-It doesn’t have to be something of value, really. I pretty much like to collect… anything. –Boru then giggled, upon finishing this sentence. Andrea then let go a growl that didn’t need translation to express his partner’s aspirations were disappointing, to say the least.

The initial response to the arrival of two strangers was not a friendly welcome. Buck startled and jumped back, an unusually adverse reaction to meeting any new face, human or digimon. The boy wasn't staring down some little Impmon or Kapurimon, though, but instead a gargantuan dinosaur. Even the adventerous young lad was put off by the sight of that. Less surprisingly, his ursine companion agreed. Instead of jumping back, though, Bearmon stood his ground and attempted to stare the dinosaur down while one arm was in front of his Tamer, Bearmon's attempt to make sure his Tamer stayed back. Or, at least that was their response until the Psychemon on high actually spoke and revealed their intentions. Suddenly Buck was a lot less fearful and a lot more excited. Apparently he was able to hop across the spectrum quite quickly. "You're treasure hunters!" was the conclusion he jumped to.
While Bearmon didn't speak his thoughts, he certainly still had some, and his first impression of this pair was very different. Or thieves, he supposed. Bearmon didn't let up his defensive stance. Unfortunately, he had to acknowledge, Buck isn't savvy enough to distrust friendly strangers, and if their intentions are impure... there's nothing I can do. I can't digivolve any further than this.
"That's so cool! I haven't seen anything, but we were just about to go inside this awesome temple and take a look!" That got Bearmon to break his defensive posture and instead just look back at his Tamer. Apparently he wasn't thrilled about being volunteered. Before he could object, though, Buck continued on, "Why don't you come with us? I'm Buck, and this is Wylde!"
"Bearmon," the ursine digimon corrected. "I never consented to that name."
"Well I gotta call you something! There's a ton of Bearmon, like you said. Anyway, you guys in?"

At first, both the dinosaur and the strip-pelted digimon felt some sort of tension engulfing the environment, but this was quickly broken after the blonde haired boy, apparently named Buck, reacted in a merry way, calling them treasure hunters. For Boru, that definitely sounded nicer than crap collector as his brothers used to call him, so the human was already winning points on his book, which, to be fair, weren't very difficult to earn.–We’re not trying to harm you in any way. –The Psychemon smiled, scratching the back of his head, stating his intentions clearly, just to avoid any weird tension, specially from the Bearmon. –My name is Boru, and this is Andrea. –The Vermillimon growled kindly. –We're just looking for stuff, we can't really harm anyone. –He explained, getting off the dinosaur. The Vermillimon simply nodded, admitting he was the friendly kind with no trouble.
Raising his view to examine the outsides of the temple the new acquaintances were standing in front of, Boru gave some steps forward. It was definitely a very old structure, and totally not prepared to fit a gigantic dinosaur in it. Boru sighed right after. –I really wished you could de-evolve somehow. –He said, turning at Andrea. According to the Vermillimon, it had been years since he evolved to that form, and since he felt comfortable enough in it, his body apparently had taken it by default, to the point he didn't even how to go back at this point. Andrea let go a small growl shaking her head calmly. Apparently, she wouldn’t be getting in there even if she could since she was scared of small narrowed places. –I see… then would you be fine just waiting for me around here? –The giant creature immediately nodded with a smile, and then immediately began walking around the Ancient Ruins by himself again. He probably wouldn’t wander too far, and it was good he went for a walk, so he wouldn’t get bored waiting for the Psychemon right there.
-Okay, then sure, I’m in! –It was definitely a good opportunity for Boru to get a new gewgaw, but most importantly, he hadn’t had any type of adventure since his sister Jazz left; so even though he could be sort of a scaredy-cat sometimes, his soul was burning for new emotions. –Are you guys looking for something in particular inside of this place, Buck? –He turned at the blonde boy, his ears perking up. –I suppose you’re tamer and digimon partner, right? That’s so cool. –He added with a smile, not really knowing how to refer to the Bearmon, after his statement. Should he call him Wylde, or…? He quickly shook his head, letting go of this thought. Time to focus on the work at hand: what could be hiding inside this place?

Despite Boru's clear lack of malicious intent, at least in Buck's opinion, continued to regard him with an element of suspicion. As he approached, Bearmon continued to watch the Psychemon out of the corner of his eyes. Maybe this looked fairly normal to most, but Buck knew his partner enough to understand that the Bearmon tended to look just about everywhere except at people when calm, an odd quirk of his. Nonetheless, the boy treated this stranger like a friend already. "It's super cool that we're Tamer and partner, right?" he agreed, "I wish I could tell my friends, but still! We didn't come to hunt for treasure, but now that I know there is some..." Bearmon still didn't say anything, but he did very loudly gulp. "Come on!"
Buck eagerly ran up the steps of the front of the temple and disappeared, the ursine digimon hot on the heels the whole way. That led the pair to an atrium of sorts, a wide, tall, circle-shaped room. From here, countless passages adorned by grand archways surrounded him and Wylde, and each passage was adorned by some sort of symbol. A more in-the-know person might recognize these as the various crests of things like courage, knowledge, and hope, but when Buck stepped before a certain symbol that resembled a mallet striking a flat surface, he reasoned, "Let's go this way. That looks super cool."

Even for a digimon as dense as Boru, it wasn’t hard to feel how the Bearmon’s eyes followed him around the old temple’s entrance, while he spoke to Buck. He didn’t entirely trust him, and he couldn’t blame him. Even though he hadn’t met much digimon partners, it was only logical for them to try to protect their tamer no matter what. –Well, I think we can find plenty of interesting items if we explore this place. -The Psychemon didn’t know for sure if there were actually treasures inside this old building, but it seemed big enough to say they were in for an adventure if they entered. –Huh? Buck? -Which… Buck had already done. This little analysis of the situation costed Boru to lose sight of the blonde haired boy for a second, he entering the temple sprinting at full speed.
-Hey! Wait for me! –The horned digimon started following the human’s step. He then reached a circular room with multiple pathways that diverged just around the circle. Multiple symbols adorned the passages. Boru couldn’t really decipher these or what they meant, so that made him uncertain about which path to take. Sadly, he had lost sight of Buck, so he really didn’t know which one to follow. He then frowned, raising his view, thinking which path may a hyperactive human and a Bearmon take.
Luckily, this little silence, allowed him to hear the running footsteps coming from one of the passages. The pathway was adorned by some sort of mallet symbol. Boru simply followed this path running too, trying to reach for the teenager. The Psychemon couldn’t help to wonder if this boy knew what he was doing, even though it didn’t seem like. While he ran, he looked around at the very antique walls of the temple, kind of amazed at how this structure was still standing.

Boru didn't get his chance to catch up for a good while, though. Buck sure had quite some stamina, and Bearmon himself was no slouch with his physical prowess either. That meant they got a pretty long way down a narrow stone brick hallway before Buck finally felt the need to stop, and it wasn't because he was tired. It was because he had found something that intrigued him: on a small pedestal in the middle of the way stood a small, empty vase. Even though it had no markings on it to make interesting (at least, none that survived the wear of time), Buck still took a moment to crouch by it for a better look at it. "Huh... What do you think used to happen here? I know vases used to be used for art and ceremonies and stuff, and we are in a temple."
One brow of the Bearmon slowly lifted; this was a show of acumen he hadn't expected from his partner.
But before the boy could form a hypothesis, Boru had closed the distance. "Oh! There you are. Hey, think this might be some of that 'stuff' you're after?" Without thinking too hard on it, them, Buck took the vase off the pedestal to try and show it to the Psychemon. Before he could present it, though, a click distracted the boy. Booby tra-! Too late. With oddly precise targetting, three stones from the walls on each side rapidly shot out of the wall, revealing it was actually a very long and vaguely log-shaped object. One was perfectly positioned to bludgeon Buck in his side while another was aimed straight at Bearmon's head. The third aimed to jab Boru in the stomach. At the speed they jutted out, they looked quite difficult to evade and quite painful to get hit by, though non-lethal... hopefully.

While he ran to the seemingly endless aisle, Boru could only wonder if he had chosen the wrong direction. Buck was nowhere to be seen, and the footsteps were not audible anymore, mainly because the Psychemon was sprinting too now and making noise with his own footsteps. Boru could definitely use the exercise, so the running part was not his problem, but more like the part of not finding the duo he was exploring this temple with and end up alone in an abandoned ancient building. Just before he crossed the line to complete panic, he could recognize Buck's blonde hair in the distance. As the horned digimon got closer, still sprinting, he noticed both the boy and the so-called Wylde were staring at some sort of antique vase over a pedestal.
-You sure... can... -Boru stopped, panting while he spoke. -... run... fast. -Even though he wasn't the most energic digimon of Rustport, leaving Boru exhausted showed the hyperactive attitude of this boy was something else. The Psychemon still haven't recovered from the previous run and Buck was already talking about the antiquity over the pedestal. -Give me... a second... to... breathe. -The horned digimon kept panting, his gaze down. Due to this, he couldn't see the exact moment when Buck took the vase out of the pedestal to show it to him (not that he would have tried to stop him, really), and he only heard the click that came after. Upon hearing the click, he immediately raised his view, only to find some cylindrical log-like object coming directly towards him. No time to think, even no time to properly react to it, Boru just closed his eyes and waved his arms at the incoming object. If the material of this jutted object wasn't too resistant, he probably would manage to cut it with his claws, and at least reduce the impact. If it was, in fact, a material that could resist Boru's claws (pretty much anything from stone onwards)... well, ouch. Of course, he didn't think about any of this while he acted; he was just moving his arms at the treat coming towards him instinctively. The closed eyes were a clear sign of this.
