Splendorous Business Lunch [Darian Soten]

Another day came and her presence in Whitewater continued...The sun lingered at its peak during this mild, Autumn noon that was blessed with subtle sunshine only occasionally blocked by thick, white clouds. Barely any leaves nor dampness plagued this beach city due to its close proximity to the titanic ocean covering the majority of the digital world. Palms and similar flora retained their green vitality in defiance to the typical cycle of life, adorning the often beige sand that glinted in faint harmony with the water's surface. The daily grind remained as active as ever in this tourist heaven as uncountable enterprises and their staff offered their services. Most favored by Cion were the local inns. Dining, despite the gracile appearance of the small silver fennec, was among the greatest pleasures she savored. Not to mention it was an excellent way to establish good relationships with strangers, which was the impetus for her to request a table at a prime restaurant. With her previous, great success in recruiting Sir Royland and Kazuya into her ranks on her mind, the excitement she felt for other newcomers to bond with was nearly overwhelming. Though thanks to her desire to act with proper grace and manners, the fine lady kept calm on the outside. Relishing the view of the blue, radiant horizon, the restrained Arniomon quickly made sure that everything was as it was supposed to be. The light platinum gray fur was well-tended, her short, green scarf straight and her laptop sat comfortably on a chair right next to her. Nodding firmly, the ascendant digimon merely the size of a Rookie folded her hands on her hips, patiently awaiting the arrival of her esteemed guests. The best of impressions was what she had to make, for if they were anything like the references she had received then they were of incomprehensible value to the potential future of this perpetually divided realm. The tiny fox barely cared for the verification of facts however. She wished to meet her potential comrades and friends in person - after all, the unrivaled undertaking that was ASCENSION required its members to be kindred spirits in their aspirations for goodwill, prosperity and civilization. Dispute in approach was acceptable, even desired, but not in ambitions. "Stop it... easy there..." Cion mumbled to herself, recognizing how utterly lost she had been in her thoughts once again. She understood that she had to relax a little in spite of the massive endeavor in front of her, but it was quite difficult. There was no superior to ask for guidance nor to rely on. She was the leader and had to behave accordingly in being an unyielding stem for her supporters. Only with confidence and devotion was there a chance for her nation to grow and blossom. Thankfully, the pleasant scents of delicious meals were detracting her slightly from her eagerness to finally encounter her aspirants.

Whitewater City, a beautiful place in one of the biggest tourist areas of the Digital World. Yet, Darian had not ventured here in many a year. The last time he was here was actually just after he had been barreled through a building and taking a rebar pole through the chest. He had been rushed to his medic friend Koneka's hut here and was forced to rest and heal here for a couple of weeks.
It was a painful memory that being back in this city brings to him.
"Stop thinking about it. We're technically here for a good time right?"
Darian smirked as his trusty holo-suited partner chimed in with his always cheerful response to everything. Even when Darian wasn't speaking Gabe somehow always knew what he was thinking about.
"You're right. We're here to meet the new boss either way. Might as well enjoy the area." Darian stated with a small smile.
Unfortunately for the two of them, they probably should have, y'know, asked for a picture or something of the person they were looking for. They knew they were here to meet the leader of this Ascension group. They knew their leaders name was Cion. What they didn't know was what this person looked like. THOUGH, the smell of whatever deliciousness was being cooked nearby was definitely distracting.
"Good lord, do you smell that? I'm gonna have to get me some of that."
"First, we find who we're supposed to be finding. Second...yes we absolutely grab whatever that smell is."
The two of them stopped outside of a restaurant, both taking large whiffs of the delicious nearby scent. The two of them took a moment to look around for anybody who had maybe been waiting around, someone who looked like they could be expecting someone. Darian was shocked, he was starting to feel like with age he was going blind. Gonna need glasses soon. Yikes.

Minutes of silence and naught went by as Cion patiently awaited the arrival of her potential fellow. Naturally, thanks to their application, she knew what they looked like, including the appearance of the holo-suit the Gabumon had a tendency to utilize for reasons that were beyond her. Was it perhaps that Gabe lived together with Dante on Earth and hence had to disguise himself often? She was not sure and it ultimately did likely no matter. In any case, they too should be aware of her looks considering ASCENSION's contact page on its website. So... more waiting it was.
That was until the silver fennec eventually spooted two humanoid individuals traversing down the sunny sidewalk she sat close to. They had a friendly banter with each other, though their intense taking of smells was somewhat odd. Regardless, the restrained Arniomon's composed frown quickly shifted into a rapt, toothy smile. Recognizing the duo from their certified mail, she waved to them with glee, motioning them to come closer and take a seat to savor this wonderful noon and the local restaurant's dishes. Of course, since she was the host and they had taken the time for this interview, she would pay for it.

"Think we found her."
"Was it the waving Darian?" Gabe replied sarcastically.
The two of them both responded to the fennec Digimon's toothy smile with friendly smiles of their own. The duo approached the silver Digimon, Gabe's step a little more eccentric than that of his human partner's. Darian was close behind, examining Cion's frame as he approached. Despite the fact that she seemed to be welcoming, Darian had learned to never approach a new person without at least a little bit of care.
You would think we would've looked to see who we would be meeting. Darian you're slacking, you're supposed to be the prepared one.. he thought quickly as he sat down at the same table as Cion, Gabe following suit who had waited for his partner to sit.
"I'm gonna take a guess and say you're our fearless leader?" Gabe questioned with a large grin, only to be struck in the thigh by a quick smack from Darian.
"Apologies for Gabe's brashness. It's nice to meet you. Sorry if we have kept you waiting. I have been looking forward to meeting the new person who's going to be running the show in this organization."

They had noticed her - excellent. Calming down and taking a deep breath, Cion adjusted her posture to something adequate as to face the duo with proper manners and ladylike grace. They too carried themselves with poise, however theirs seemed much more casual and natural than her firm bearing. Unlike Kazuya & Sir Royland, there was a big chance that Gabe and Darian were not the formal type. Thankfully, this was no problem at all for the silver fennec, as a former businessmon and mercenary, knew how to adapt immediately to any circumstances that she encountered.
Gladly she motioned the human and disguised digimon to take a set opposite to her while eagerly anticipating their introduction to her. "That is my impetus." She calmly gagged as a response to the Gabumon in disguise, her toothy smile briefly becoming a coltish smirk. A touch of esprit did certainly not hurt to break the ice between strangers, especially if they were potentially bound to work together in the future for a prolonged period. Hence the notion of having to apologize for a small, friendly jest at nobody's expense had not even crossed her mind. "No harm's done." She sincerely assured the young adult.
In the end, despite important business at their hands, this noon was meant to be one of leisure and amicability. Besides, knowing the ways others acted when not imposing a form on themselves was significant to her. The true nature of someone was often hidden from plain view - not that she accused her guests of anything. No, the restrained Arniomon merely wished to get acquainted with them thanks to their outstanding exploits in the past.
"It's nice to meet you, too. And don't fret, you did not keep me waiting. I am Cion, founder and CEO of ASCENSION. Moreover I thank you for your, if I may already say so, first-rate application - and of course for taking your time for this appointment." She kindly introduced herself, genuine words of respect escaping her lips. Standing up on her chair, she gave them a regardful bow before reaching out her paw for them to hopefully shake. This classic sign of peace and trust was essential to initiate their relationship.

Gabe, despite his usual joking exterior was actually quite the analytical Digimon. He used his typical joking personality to leave a mask around him where he could have all the time in the world to really figure out who he was talking to. What sort of vibe was he getting from this Cion Digimon? Well, she seemed super official. He wasn't sure how well he was going to vibe with that. Though, she did seem to respond to his jokes well, a smirk crossing her face as he had spoke. Maybe they would get along after all. He'd need more than one meeting to figure that out he supposed.
As Cion started to venture into her introduction, both Darian and Gabe paid attention to the way she presented herself. This Digimon was the founder and the leader of this ASCENSION group they were joining. For someone to lead a group such as this, with such high standards and high hopes. Well, Cion didn't look like much right now at first glance but in order to bring your dreams to reality you've definitely gotta have some sort of powerful image.
They were both a little thrown off when Cion had bowed. They actually weren't sure if they had ever been bowed at. Thankfully, Cion also offered a hand to shake which Darian and Gabe both took and shook happily.
"First rate application eh? I'm curious how much the Digital World still knows about us. We've been out of it for a little bit."
"Good to hear that we were good enough to be accepted though! So what do you need from us at this appointment anyways? Or is this just to introduce and enjoy some time as a first meeting?"

Content to witness that the duo accepted her proposal, Cion gently yet perceptibly shook their hand while maintaining her signature, slightly toothy smile. The ice was broken, allowing the silver fennec's usually agitated soul to ease for this pleasant noon. Sitting down, she straightened her short, green scarf and nodded, folding her hands and placing them on her haunch. For a moment, she merely savored the soft warmth that lingered in Whitewater, remnants of the past summer interspersing with autumnal freshness. Winter was coming, hence the onset for her project had to be swift. Today however, her focus was on Darian & Gabe.
"I don't know of others' memory, but at least I did my research meticulously." The restrained Arniomon stated kindly. She had confirmed for herself their exploits throughout months and years of service to goodwill. There were most likely people who remembered them as well, but in spite of this uncertainty their achievements and commitments had still happened. This was the core reason why the vulpine digimon was so excited to invite them to an interview and meet them in person. Valiant fighters were seldom applicants that she had doubts about.
Shifting her attention to the disguised Gabumon, she gave the lad another nod. "The latter. I'd like to get acquainted with you..." Cion explained calmly, motioning her guests to grab the menus on the table. "... So I hope you brought plenty of appetite with you. Whatever it is you want for lunch, it's on me." She voiced her offer to a free, exquisite meal in this fine, beachside restaurant. Personally speaking, she small fox was famishing, which was why it was a quick, encouraging pace that she grabbed a bill of fare for herself and trawled through it.

The Digimon's answer intrigued Darian's curiosity. There was the possibility that people in the Digital World had forgotten about the majority of the things that had happened to them. After all, it had been about two years since they had any sort of active say in the events of the world. This was good though, if people could forget things like how they were wartime fugitives to all of the Digital world that'd be great. Even if they were framed, for some reason some people seemed to have not noticed that.
"Well, at least your research proved to say that we were still okay to recruit." He said sort of hesitantly.
As he spoke, Gabe patted him on the shoulder with a bright grin.
"You've really gotta stop worrying about the past so much." He stated in an attempt to reassure his teammate.
Hearing that this meeting was almost entirely about getting to know one another comforted both of them. They weren't really the type who could handle official meetings very well. Even in Gattai and DatS they were the casual, meet while gaming type people. Being able to eat and hang out during this meeting was going to be nice.
"Well, we're definitely the type of people who always bring an appetite. And I'm kinda feeling a nice large steak right now."
"First bit of information that you probably didn't find in your research. We can eat basically forever." Gabe explained, deciding on getting a large lobster for his meal.
"So Cion, what is it you'd want to know?"

Though probably indecent, Cion could not help herself but chuckle as she noticed the hesitation in Darian's voice. Either the human was quite humble or self-effacing - characteristics that her Utopia project hopefully changed. Their exploits told of proud, powerful sentinel that did everything in their might to defend the innocent and the weak. There was no reason to be unboastful. They had earned their right to find elation in their accomplishments, especially since many more were possible to come. "Your references are outstanding." She repeated kindly, wishing to break the ice of tremulousness and uncertainty further.
Agreeing with Gabe's sensible sentiment, the silver fennec felt relief upon hearing that their guests brought plenty of appetite to their little get-together in radiant Whitewater. Thankfully, the duo was not shy to order whatever they longed for, and a fine steak and large lobster were definitly exquisite choices. The disguised Gabumon's joke was somewhat amusing, causing the small fox to giggle while rolling her eyes. "I shall note that down." She commented, briefly carrying a grave expression of disapproval before giving the digidestined and his partner a coltish wink. A jest certainly did not hurt, did it?
Deciding to purchase a curry plate, a polite came and went by, assuring that their needs were taken care of. With her attention back on the unassertive man, he voiced a question that she thought had already been answered. Chitchat was not her greatest strength, but she tried regardless. "Well... what do you enjoy doing for leisure? I love to sing. Do you like music, too?"
