Dear Alan and LeviIt was a bit sudden to receive messages from you two, heh. Hikaru here, although I guess you already know considering it's me that you guys sent the mail to anyway and this is the reply... Well, cutting the chase, I understand the gist of your request. I already asked my friend and he said he's quite free at the moment. So probably few minutes after you guys seen this message and replied, he would be on his way. You can meet him in the Terminus Station on Platform 2-I. Don't look for any Trailmon, look for Grand Locomon. If you find him just make a small chat and eventually he'll ask 'Where could it be that you're going to?', answer 'We're heading to where bud of tree of bond can grow in the midst of a desert'. Then if he ask 'and how will you go there?' answer 'By riding a train that flew on imaginary rails made from star in the middle of the night'. If you did all of this right, you'll meet your tutor. I'll keep his identity a secret for now, teehee~Hope you'll enjoy the travel you two. I'll be waiting!Sincerely, the one that always stays fabulous Hikaru
That day, it was slightly rainy. The trains seem to work extra today because many people prefer to ride the train... among all the Trailmons that waiting for their passenger to board however, there are something that towering the rest of them, looking about four times the size of a Trailmon both in width and height. That is, the Ultimate stage Digimon Grand Locomon. The sign above it said "Platform 2-I"

Alan Pantell enjoyed rain, in moderation. Pouring rain, to him, was nothing but a prodigious annoyance. He preferred the sweet spot where it was just enough to want an umbrella, but not enough to need any other sort of protective clothing in addition. Once the bespectacled young man reached the cover of the Trailmon station, he pulled in his umbrella, as a courtesy to the throngs of digimon taking shelter there as well. Levi crawled out from his backpack, from which it was easier to be sheltered under the umbrella with his Tamer, and perched himself upon Alan's head and shoulders, holding onto his own grey ivy cap with one hand. The Veemon quite enjoyed the extra height, as well as the free ride, so the floor was as good as lava to him when traveling.
Catching sight of the enormous locomotive digimon in the distance, the pair had only to confirm that the sign next to it indeed read "Platform 2-I" by closing the distance between the sign and themselves. Regardless, in much the way that one might more times than necessary check the number of a snack one wishes to purchase from a vending machine before entering said number, the human would approach the mobile monolith and ask, in as timid a tone as one wishing to speak to a GrandLocomon from the ground might muster, "Excuse me, would you happen to be GrandLocomon?" They were indeed quite the grand locomotive, but it never hurt to be sure, as Alan hoped the digimon would understand.

The Grand Locomon looked down, finding a young man and his Vmon... Vmon? Interesting, so this is why. The Grand Locomon let out a bit of steam. "Why yes, I'm a Grand Locomon. Kind of a nice day, isn't it? It's slightly rainy, but it looks like that made people wanted to use our service even more... Are you two not bothered by the rain? Or are you perhaps here to ask me for a ride? I'm sorry but I'm a private train. I can't really tell you to hop on you see...
...But out of curiosity where, perchance, are you heading to?"

Alan breathed a quiet sigh of relief when heard that the GrandLocomon appeared to be kind. Good, that was always a great thing to hear when talking to strangers.
Now. The more important task.
Alan inhaled, held his breath for a moment, and exhaled again, muttering to himself, "'Course the password's gotta be courtesy of a romantic poet..." He took the front of his black baseball cap between his fingers, and tilted it down in front of his face. He stared at the ground as he spoke, so as not to look into the eye of the one to whom he was speaking, but spoke clearly and projected well enough to be understood.
"We're heading to where the bud of the tree of bonds can grow in the midst of a desert."
Levi jumped on top of Alan's head and spoke the rest of the password in a far more proud manner, posing and gesturing dramatically.
"By riding a train that flies on imaginary rails made from stars in the middle of the night!"

"That was faster than I thought," the Grand Locomon commented, chuckling. He closed his eyes and suddenly in front of Alan appeared an eldery, yet solidly build butler. Yes, out of thin air. He's definitely towering compared to most elderies. The butler bowed respectfully at Alan and Levi. "Hello, we have been waiting for you, Mr. Alan, Mr. Levi. Please enter the second compartment. It'll be quite a walk, but if you want to go quicker, you can use my compartment's conveyor belt. Just make sure to press 'stop' on the second compartment."
With that, the eldery butler vanished again. Upon arriving at the second compartment... what's waiting them is an XVmon on a sofa, sipping a sake and a teen who immediately saw them and smiled. The entire compartment could be described as ridiculously luxurious. It looked like that this is the lounge, as there are a bar, and equipped with various relaxation spots.
"Alan and Levi, yeah?" Ryouta asked. "Name's Noguchi Ryouta. This is my partner, Valt."
"Ossu! I'll be training you guys, heh heh. Never thought that one day I'll have a Vmon disciple, but here I am! Hmm... so what could be the problem exactly, you two? Come here and sit. Do you want any sort of snack? Don't be shy and just ask me anything!"

Alan and Levi had bowed back to the butler, as they weren't sure how else to respond. Though they were welcome guests in the private GrandLocomon, neither of them could quite get comfortable, and they couldn't exactly put their fingers on why. Perhaps it was the sheer luxuriousness, they posited. The compartments were so high-class that they were afraid to touch anything, and were slow to take their seats when greeted by their new mentors.
"Yes, that'd be us. Er, I mean, yes, it's a pleasure to meet you both," managed Alan, while Levi only offered an "Mmm" next to him, his eyes rapidly shifting his gaze around the compartment to anywhere but where Valt was sitting. Finally, the two looked at each other, and released their tension, letting go of the breaths they didn't realize they had been holding in. Finally, Alan spoke up once more.
"A snack would be nice, thank you. I don't suppose you have a menu around here, do you? A-anyway, the 'problem' is that we're not quite sure what the problem is. Or, it's nothing in particular, but rather, we have a tendency to worry that we're not experienced enough in combat in general. We've been in one serious battle so far, and-"
Levi finally found his words at that moment. "-And that was just me hitting a control spire repeatedly while the people who were trying to protect it were completely ignoring me to fight off more threatening opponents."
"Y-yeah."

Hmmm? What's this, are they being a bit too shocked at the level of luxuriousness? Well, admittedly this is a bad place to relax indeed... But what can he do, Ilbert tried to go extra on everything...
"Don't be nervous, it's OK. We won't bite... unless you want us to bite," Valt joked. At this moment, the elderly butler, Ilbert, appeared again and handed both Alan and Levi the menu. Snacks included. Of course there would be menu. Why there won't be?
"Well that side..." The muscular XVmon now leaned forward after hearing the explanation of the two. "So basically you two want to be more imposing to the enemy, want to be more treated as a threat instead of... someone on the sideline? If you guys means what happened at the Scramble Crossing battle, I guess that's more in your favor? I mean, being standing out in that battle isn't exactly the best... but if so you want to be more experienced..."
Valt rubbed his chin. "...How about we spar the moment we arrived to KIZNA base, Ys? That way, I'm sure I can understand more of your strength and weakness. Can you evolve to Adult stage yet?"

Levi bit his thumbclaw contemplatively, as if seriously considering the ExVeemon's offer to bite. Alan nudged him with his elbow, having settled within his mind that he wasn't sure whether Levi was contemplating it as a joke or not.
It was Alan who responded first: "Oh, no, no, we have no doubt in our minds that not being seen as a threat was a huge tactical advantage!" He said, sneering out an additional comment to the side. "Not that it mattered in the end." The tamer had been immensely glad that DATS had arrived and brought a quick end to the battle, though it had done no good for his self-esteem, placing yet another mental block to overcome before he could finally feel like a powerful team with Levi. He realized where his train of thought was going, and shook his head to snap himself back to reality. "But in the future," he continued, "we'd rather that that tactic be our own choice - that we have greater strength to hide behind it when it must be used. Oh, Levi, I'm not speaking too much for the both of us, am I? You've been awfully quiet considering you're the one who's going to be trained."
The small dragon gripped Alan's hand and squeezed it tightly in his own, as if expecting the act to ease his nerves. "We're going to be trained," he corrected, repeating the word "we" in a whisper until he believed himself. Alan guiltily considered the implications of this behavior, and Levi softened his grip, letting his hand simply rest on the human's.
"Yes, I can reach Champion stage," answered Levi, in a calm voice, Alan busily reading through the menu he had forgotten was in his hands.

"Indeed," Valt answered "you two are going to be trained. Let's face this... when Digimon fight, the human should be ready to support them, either with cards or with intel. When you're partnered, two of you have to work as a unit. One should not add more burden for the other... and speed is a must for the humans. I'm not going to get you to the point of going as beef as this guy over here," Valt pointed at Ryouta with his thumb. "But I'm sure as hell going to give you menu to make you more agile and responsive. Think it similarly to a gunslinger's training.
As for Levi, he'll do the most of the fighting, so I'm going to train him how to take on attacks and all that. I'll obviously give him some ideas of what to do with some of his moves if it's not geared enough for a certain role. I wouldn't say that we're the absolute expert here, but we're experienced... and we hope you can trust us in this matter. You can treat us like friends and teachers... or maybe if that's too much you can just consider us your senpais.
I don't have a lot of rules with my training... just... make sure to follow me. It's fine to question my way and ask it, but do know when to ask and act and when to act first before acting, that's all. If you got any problem you can voice it out anytime!"

Alan nodded time and time again, wishing not to cause any lasting hard feelings with his slip of the tongue. (There would not be, but he had a tendency to be over-cautious when it came to avoiding grudges.) In truth, the boy was now becoming giddy with excitement; he had always wanted to undergo physical training. He didn't care if he was helpless in direct combat with digimon. He just wanted to improve himself, to feel like he was doing something to make himself more useful. Looking over at Ryouta, there was a chuckle between the two partners over the possibility that Ryouta's "beef" had anything to do with Valt's training. But maybe it just meant that their two teachers were perfect for each other.
The human and the Veemon weren't quite sure whether they would be alright with Valt's mode of training, at least the way he was describing it. They considered themselves to be good at following specific directions, and as such, rather disposed to asking lots of questions before acting. But that wouldn't do in real combat, would it? They supposed it was for these reasons that they tended to be more nervous before sparring than they were in actual dangerous situations.
Having satisfied themselves that it would be a good experience regardless, they both bowed their heads and spoke simultaneously, "Y-yes, Sensei!"

"Well no need to be nervous, although I understand how nervewrecking would it be to suddenly have a teacher supervising you... but really, just relax... we're almost there, see?" Valt pointed at a mountain. For some reason they have reached Northern Prominence, specifically, the shining sea.
...And that was when the sight of a mountain could be seen. The Grand Locomon entered through one of the opening. The tunnel was slightly long, and dark... but the moment the light returned, they would see a wonder of a city that once was underwater. It's in process of being repaired, but now about eighty percent of the city is completely fixed. Digimons of various origin chatting on the road, business settlements starting to provide their services and transportation system in the city going up and about.
"Welcome to Ys, KIZNA's base. I think sooner or later this city will be open to the public. When the time come we'll be completely open to any sort of trade agreements and whatnots. This city is our pride and joy... And I hope one day it'll be place where chosens can just sit back and relax. Granted, there are not too many things in here, but we're slowly adding more attractions." Ryouta explained.
And their destination is the north, where a huge building is embedded on the wall of the crater. Frozen waterfall trailed on its sides, making it looks like the building jutting out from the cascading (and now frozen) water.
"Have you guys eaten yet? Although I guess if you eat right now, it'll be bad... some snacks won't hurt. Just keep the menu with you. Ilbert will give you what you want later. Also, if you guys would like to train for longer than just a day, I can book you guys a room in a hotel close to here."

The bustling city came into view, and the two boys squished each other next to the window, looking at this angle and that, until they were satisfied that what they were seeing was more than a façade.
"No way... everybody's founding a city, huh?" remarked Alan, thinking about their friend Cion and the members of ASCENSION's construction site for their proposed "utopia." The idea still bothered him, but as long as the organization wasn't hurting anybody... he hoped, anyway. Cion had always seemed a very pleasant person to speak with.
"In any case, it's gorgeous," said Levi, his expression still twisting in disbelief, which was saying something for a digimon. "Makes the Spartan Training Grounds look... well... spartan."
"It's something to be proud about, to be sure. And don't worry, we ate before leaving, we mainly wanted to bear witness for what insane luxury counted as a snack in these parts... that's a compliment, by the way, if you'll excuse the weird phrasing. Eheh."
"We'll definitely be staying for a bit."
"Now, now, we gotta see how the training goes!" said Alan, pushing down a bit of unwarranted envy. What was there to be envious about? They were welcome here now, and excited about every aspect of it, most of all the training.

"Everyone? Well, I guess... but either way, KIZNA's ideal is to make a city where humans can be themselves in here... to create a city without prejudice. Virus, Vaccine, Data, human, Digimon, nothing matters, just a city where people can improve themselves together. We just want to create a city where you can call home. Terminus, but with our feel I guess.
Well, the no prejudice part is probably sliiiightly impossible, but we would like our people to treat one another as big family, or at least a welcome member of the community. Of course if there are trouble people would be ejected out from the city and forever banned from entry..." Valt explained. "Also, all criminals are to judged severely, but those who wanted a new start and seriously worked for it will not be penalized."
Ryouta chuckled at the comment about the snack. "C'mon, if it's super luxurious not even I would relax. To be completely honest I'm just content with nice ingredients and great way to cook it."
Inside the building is various sort of gym equipments, both modern and traditional, including but not limited to waterfall, huge rock, various weight machines, pull up bars, and obstacle training.
"...I guess first and foremost is question of fitness... Alan, how agile and strong are you? Or better said, can you do some push up right now?" Valt requested.

"As a human living in the digital world..." Alan shifted back in a bit of imaginative thought. "...that does sound really nice. I hope it all turns out as you say. I enjoy moving from place to place around the digital world, but... it's quite an enticing thought to have a specific place to call 'home...' I think the closest any settlement has come to that is Rosewood. It is a very lovely place, though."
"Mmm..." Levi nodded. "A place to be our home..."
They both agreed not to think too hard about the criminal policy. It was always very difficult to discuss that kind of thing; there was never a clear answer.
Alan gazed once again in awe at the gym and its equipment, before chuckling and commenting, "I've never used gyms too much, so I guess I wouldn't really know how impressed to be. How agile and strong am I? Hmm... I've never been the athletic type, but I wouldn't say I was particularly lacking, at least not to the point of being noticeably set back by it. Oh, push-ups? Sure!" Alan dropped to the floor in an instant, propping himself up on his toes and ensuring his legs were as straight as possible, taking every measure to avoid doing push-ups half-assed, even if accidentally. He didn't have very much trouble with them at all when he started, proceeding from one into the next with little to no struggle or break. After 10, he began to slow down with each repetition of the motion. At that point he set 20 as a mental goal for himself, but after passing 20, he tried his hardest to proceed for as long as he could, but the fact that he had already passed his own mental goal was rather apparent, with the human heaving out the last few for a total of 27 before dropping himself and standing up again. He stood, red-faced from both working out and being rather embarrassing, having assumed before trying that he might be able to do at least a few more than that. It didn't help that he was being watched over by an ExVeemon, one who was ripped by nature, and a human, one who was ripped by merit. Levi gave him a few reassuring pats on the leg.
"S-so there you have it..." muttered Alan, not making eye contact with Valt.

"Rosewood is nice," Valt agreed. "But the north need more city too I think! That and south I guess, but Yuuki and the rest ain't as great with heat than they are with cold. At least with cold they can just wear heavier clothes, but if they goes to the south... what can they do? Dress lightly? Blow AC at highest level? Won't fly I think," Valt commented. "Plus... call me a romantic, but... something about this place calls us. Waiting to be discovered, waiting to be unearthed... and we... I guess our sense of adventure suddenly just awakened."
"You don't have to train in the gym to be strong," Ryouta commented. "Push up, sit up, jogging, and chin ups... generally those are enough for you to get stronger. Oh, and pushing heavy objects. These things are what you minimally need to improve in Digital World. If you want bigger menu, sidestepping, tag, and balance training also obstacle run I guess."
"If you want to be this beef," Valt pointed at Ryouta "add endurance training, martial arts lesson, weight training, wall climb... and ukemi training."
"Basically, what we mean is that Digital World usually need four statistics for you to work well: Fast reaction time, speed, strength and stamina. If you want to be more adventure heavy, and get in quite a lot of missions that demands action, you should add endurance training, like wall climbing, wall hanging and all that. Martial arts works if you want to fight against child stage, but if they have guns... don't."
Twenty seven is good. Valt gently pat Alan on the back. "Not bad. Let's aim for 50 next time, yeah? Not immediately though. Listen, we can take slow with our training. Digital World flow a times seven times faster than real world, so... if you're sore by tomorrow, rest, until you can feel minimal burn to your affected areas. Then you try again. Aim higher than 27. Usually you definitely will get higher than your previous one. Once you can get to 50, add weight to your back, probably Levi sitting on your back. That's how we trained at first."
"Yep yep. How about you do some squats next?" Ryouta offered. "Meanwhile, Valt would train Levi, I think."
"Yep! So!" he encouragingly slapped Levi's back. "Evolve will ya?"
