[IS 1] Conflict of Interest

In what would otherwise be a kind-of-hot day, the wind kept blowing in Dock #2. From their first approach, knocking on the door, Genesis and Viktor would get… no response. Was that place abandoned? Well, they were already into finding out. From the second burst of knocking, and apparently helped by the blowing wind, the door just opened up slowly, revealing the insides of the hut. Not a very interesting layout, honestly. It was an old, dirty and worn-out cabin. Although it was not empty, the furniture inside didn’t seem quite different. A bed made of rotten wood and straw as a mattress and a very old pot under what seemed to be pieces of more wood, stacked up. It seemed like a fire had been lit recently to cook something. The other piece of furniture would reveal the only interesting thing about this whole place. It was… a Gabumon, fast asleep over an old rocking chair, just swinging slowly, thanks to the wind. So… what now?
The other group had definitely taken an interesting approach. They were set to split in order to conquer The Lost Droplet and find the Dusk Pirates. Tadayoshi and Commandramon would not have much luck in the table they had chosen. They got their drink, and the digimon did not seem to mind at all them taking a seat but… nothing interesting was heard. It seemed to be only a group of rookie digimon listening to a Stigmon telling them a story about the time he fought a Tyrannomon back in Cipher Jungle. A Patamon, three Dracmons, a RedVegiemon, A Labramon, two Agumon and a Monitormon just listened closely. Entertaining, maybe. But not what they were looking for. Jetmon, Jekyll, and Hyde didn’t seem to find anything of interest around that floor either. Due to the noise, it was actually hard to quite discern what some digimon were talking about, without getting awkwardly close. What about Angel, the full-of-energy BlackTerriermon? Thanks to her size, she managed to scoot between the digimon gathered around the bar. It was quite the crowd! Once she finally reached the center of it, she found a digimon standing on top of a bar. All of the attention was gathered around her. A female Coronamon. She seemed to be juggling with a bunch of bottles and cups, moving them from one side to the other, catching them mid-air, shooting fire out of her mouth and doing very interesting tricks. All of them ended in her serving drinks and throwing them to random digimon around the crowd. It was quite the show from the bartender! The better these tricks got, the louder the crowd chanted. They were being so loud, Angel’s voice would be lost between the noise, making impossible for the Coronamon or anyone to hear. She was quite the spectacle, but it seemed like the rabbit could not do much about it by yelling right now. She was too small and her voice was not loud enough. Alan and Levi got to the second floor without much trouble. It was pretty much a replica of the first one, except the digimon who inhabited it were different. However, the bar was placed at the same spot (although this one was not crowded at all, a single Mojyamon was in charge, pouring some drinks for a few customers), the tables were scattered just the same, with digimon singing and playing music around too. Something that would probably raise the boy’s attention was… another Veemon. He was sitting by himself at a table, shuffling some cards. The only difference between him and Levi would be this one had no cap and was actually… black. It was a BlackVeemon, or DarkVeemon, called by some. Huh. Out of all possible digimon... a BlackVeemon. Were they that common? A smirk appeared around the dragon’s face, before he uttered a question. “Hey… Wanna’ play?” He asked. Nope, this was definitely not the BlackVeemon they knew, was it? “S-Sure…” One of the WereGarurumon replied to the incoming Renamon, nonchalantly. “What? No!” The other one, next to him, put his hairy arm in front of the fox, blocking her way. “The bathroom is that way.” He pointed at a door with a sign that read ‘Bathroom’ in digimoji. Then, his eyes went to his partner. “I told you to stop doing that.” “Y-Yes.” The other WereGarurumon, who actually had a voice that sounded a lot more youthful, replied. To this affirmation, only a sigh was issued by the tougher looking wolf. What now?

Viktor looked to Genesis as the door opened, nodding as she retrieved her digivice. The two entered cautiously and examined their surroundings. The building was old and worn down, the sea claiming it’s property with the salt in the air that rotted wood and rusted metal. Nothing seemed out of place, aside from a freshly stoked wood and pot to match and...
”Wake up,” the fox spoke a little more sharp as he knocked the rocking chair with his foot, shaking it a bit violently, ”We were told this is the meetup point.”
The old Gabumon sleeping in the chair. Quite soundly given how hard Viktor has pounding on the door. The fox had little patience for this and needed answers, but wasn’t full on into starting to torture anyone. He’d give the wolf a chance to answer him, if he even awoke. If he didn’t, well, Viktor had his ways.
”Are you sure this is the right place?”
Viktor nodded, looking down at the card and showing her the address; ”As sure as I can be. These Rockets are playing games for someone who needs a crewman.”
Genesis covered her mouth as she spoke under her breath; ”Or a Wench~”
Viktor turned and shot her a look, ”Excuse me?”
Genesis cleared her throat and looked around; ”We should look for a wench, I said!”
The fox only shook his head as he waited for the sleeping Gabumon to reply, if he even woke up to begin with.

The inexperienced pair heaved sighs of relief upon reaching the second floor and finding it nowhere near as crowded as the first. Potential fires notwithstanding, they always felt 'safer' on second floors than first ones, be it in social situations, combat, or just about anywhere, really, though they doubted this was something exclusive to them.
The sight of a BlackVeemon sitting at a table certainly made them do a double-take, but the possibility of this being Levi's own Archon was immediately dispelled. While he was certainly at home in bars, it was a safe bet that he wasn't at home in this bar on an island the two of them miraculously managed to find out existed. Nevertheless, this BlackVeemon drew their attention, and they simply had to indulge.
"Sure, we'll play!" said Levi, pulling up chairs for the both of them. "But we don't know many card games; unless it's Mao, you're gonna have to tell us what we're playing and how to play. If you don't mind, of course."

No response. With the Gabumon fast asleep, like a rock, and completely unresponsive at the group’s questioning, Viktor and Genesis seemed to have reached a small bump in their way to the Rocket Pirates. The silence inside the small hut they occupied right now was only broken by the blowing wind that kept swinging that chair the Gabumon had fallen asleep on. Was this just a heavy sleeper? No, it definitely seemed like… something else was going on. There was something keeping this digimon asleep. The duo could try as much as they wanted, but until they got rid of that element, they probably wouldn’t be able to wake the beast up. Although using heavy force was always an option, it did not mean it would always work. For this one, it seemed like the fox and the human would trail better to solve this issue using their heads, rather than brute force. Were they missing something? Was there something else they should look for around this area? Or should they just try their luck at waking this Gabumon up? Time was of the essence. They couldn’t afford to just try random stuff.
Speaking of random… The BlackVeemon stiffed a quiet laugh once Levi and Alan approached him. His gaze was directed at the Veemon. “Aw, this sure brings back some memories. Me, sitting at a lonely table and you just taking a seat. Of course, I didn’t call you back then…” He mused, looking a bit pensive. “… Don’t get me wrong. I’m glad you joined me.” Then, he gazed at his own complexion for a second. “I think I was a bit skinnier at the moment. Those had been… difficult days.” He added. “Anyways! Let’s play, shall we?” Without issuing any type of explanation, or paying any further attention to Levi’s comment about the game they were playing, he just waved his hand dismissively. “No worries. This game is more entertaining when you learn as you play. I just hope you had paid attention at your surroundings.” He chimed, while he nonchalantly shuffled the cards of the deck while humming a tune… … Was that… " We're Off to See the Wizard”? Where did he learn that song? Or were they mistaking that for another tune? That might be the case. That had to be the case. Otherwise… how did he…? “You have to pick one of the three cards I’ll show you. We’re playing three rounds. If you fail to pick the right card two times, you’ll lose.” Without further due, the BlackVeemon stopped shuffling the deck and placed three of them over the table, face up. “This is the one that got it all poured. But it’s definitely not the one who doesn’t like purring... or is it? Which of these would you send to the east?” On top of the table, Levi and Alan would find three cards with a very simple design. Each of them had the image of a digimon: A Labramon, a Lunamon and a Ravmon, respectively. That question made no sense. “Why are you still standing there?” The rougher of the two Weregarurumon tilted his head, looking at the Renamon in front of them. “Do you still want to come in?” The one that was definitely younger, asked. “I could let…”“I told you to stop!” The other wolf hissed. Then, he turned to face the yellow fox again. “Please, forgive my partner. He has trouble saying ‘no’ to people” He apologized to the client. Then, his gaze went back at the perfect-level digimon. “Why do you keep acting like that, if it has brought you so much trouble? How are we going to recover that wristband now?”Ironically, just doing nothing had brought Renamon a new opportunity. These two seemed to have some sort of issue. Could helping them provide some important info to the group? Would she capitalize at this chance?

"Aw, boys, please! I'm sorry. I didn't mean to start an argument. I just..." Oh, boy, was Renamon hamming it up. She was well-practiced in using her feminine charm, and she was turning that up to eleven for the sake of the mission - elusive shyness, poses that accented her beauty, the whole nine yards. "I was a bit distracted by..." Obviously, one of these guards was a little weaker-willed than the other. That was going to be the one the fox played on. She stared at him dreamily a bit, trying to pretend he was what distracted her while attempting to cover it. "...nevermind. But if the bathroom isn't down there, what is?" She walked very close to the younger wolf and spoke only to him alone. "I'm not asking for free, of course. Maybe I could help with your 'wrist band' problem?"
Tadayoshi watched from across the place, unable to hear but plenty able to see. He doesn't stand a chance, Tadayoshi bemused in his own head. With a look to the captain, he got up and left to try and find another table that might have more interesting conversation. Just to be safe, though, Commandramon planted a MetalKoromon beneath the table they had just left with a subtle motion, since it was rather crowded and popular still, trying to get it as close to the Monitermon as he could; that character seemed like they belonged on a stealth crew. If anything relevant happened while the pair was away, Alpha would catch it granted they weren't themselves caught. Just because Angel wasn't getting any attention didn't mean she was ready to give up on getting some or just getting wasted if she had to settle. As the drinks were thrown about, the bunny tried her best to leap and grab them out of the air. "Come on, girlie! Momma's thirsty!" she demanded as she chased the glasses. She didn't seem to be going anywhere, though, so she tried a different approach. Two can play at fox-face's game... Instead of sexy, Angel went for cute and cuddly, hugging her own ears and putting on her best puppy dog eyes. Ideally, that would let her get up to the front of the crowd and be noticed. As for the pair of Rocketmon, maybe their effort had been unfruitful so far, but that didn't stop them from continuing to try. "How are we supposed to hear anything in this place if we can't even hear each other?"
Hyde's response was a screaming, "What?" which just cemented his brother's point. "Maybe we should just keep a lookout instead!"
"We can celebrate with a cookout after we've found the treasure!"
Jekyll nudged Hyde in annoyance but, after lots more hilarious misunderstandings, managed to convey the plan to survey with their eyes instead of ears, undercover as curious tourists. Sure, if something happened right next to them they'd notice, but otherwise they'd just surveil the area for anything possibly related to Dusk activity. Angel used Bunny Charm. -Bunny Charm: This digimon appears extremely adorable and as huggable as she can. Looking at her and being captivated by its cuteness may make an opponent unwilling or too distracted to attack for a post. Cooldown: 2 posts.
Bunny Charm must cool down: 2 posts remaining.

No dice. Viktor was a strong Digimon in his own right, and he could shake this Digimon to pieces if he needed. But when he was human, he wasn't a successful assassin because he was strong... but because he was fiercely intelligent, something many underestimated when they saw the fox as he was. Strength was a key factor yes, but if you cannot calculate on where to apply the fortitude, it does you little good.
With yet another sigh, Viktor examined the old Gabumon, turning his head and looking him over. Eye patterns suggested force sleep, maybe? Perhaps he was under some spell? He looked around for anything that could lead to a conclusion of a sleeping spell or influence. He looked to Genesis and blinked,
"The wind... close the door and we'll see what it does."
In the meantime, Viktor held onto the Gabumon and simply stabbed his leg out, looking to break the chair all together. This way, it would take out two birds with one stone. He had a few more ideas, but these were the ones that were on his forethought. Genesis shut the door and used anything she could to block the holes that might let the wind blow on the old Digimon. She stood directly over, blocking them from any remaining wind.
"Heavy sleeper... maybe we should grab a coconut and smash it over his head."
Viktor rolled his eyes as he stood up from helping the old man to the ground, should the chair break and look over him; "Killing him would do us no good."
Genesis chuckled and crossed her arms; "Then let's just directly attack the Navy? I doubt very much they can stand to Kajunemon."
Viktor shook his head, "It'll be a war of attrition and we'll defeat our whole reason for doing this. We will bring out the hammer when the scalpel is finished making it's incisions."
Genesis rolled her eyes as the two awaited to see if their plans worked... if not, it was plan B. Viktor had plenty ideas if this didn't work, but he wasn't wanting to waste any more time.

Is he pretending to know us? was Levi's initial thought while conversing with the suspicious BlackVeemon. That suspicion was replaced with high alert the more the dragon talked. The digimon and human both knew for sure that this wasn't the real Archon, not because they knew where Archon was at all times, but because if they had somehow run into each other here, they would have at least gotten some form of surprise, of shock but happiness, some indication of or reaction to such a coincidence. And if the smug digimon tried to amend such things into his speech? It would be too late. All it would mean to them was that this phony was somehow reading their thoughts and memories.
Wary, they decided they would keep playing this game, knowing full well that they never agreed to any punishments for losing. Just a few riddles on the premise that winning might get them some information. If the pseudo-boyfriend tried to pull any punishments for losing? They wouldn't let a single bit be lost.
Through some debate, the following was what they could make of the first round's question:
>The Faker stated that he hoped they had been paying attention to their surroundings. Since he used the past tense, that means nothing related to the answer could be seen from where they were sitting. >The only one of the digimon shown on the cards that they had seen in the bar so far was Labramon. >The line hinting that the answer possibly could possibly be the dog would be useless if the answer wasn't a dog. >Labramon has an ability called "Cure Liquor" by nature, possibly referred to by having "got it all poured." >They could not make anything of the question itself, regarding sending something "to the east." Even so...
"We've decided our final answer is the Labramon card," said Levi, pointing to, but not touching, the card in question.

Just like the very unique types of situations they were facing, the performance of Imminent Storm in their way towards finding the two bands was different for every member of the crew. On one side, Viktor and Renamon seemed to have gotten a bit closer. But they weren’t quite there. As soon as the door was closed, and even before his chair was broken in pieces, the Gabumon, still asleep, opened up his mouth to let out a yawn. If they paid enough attention, they would notice that, for a moment, the deepness of his slept seemed to have wiggled a bit. Ironically, the chair breaking only brought him to the ground but seemed to have done absolutely nothing to wake him up. It had been only when Genesis closed the door that the Gabumon’s reverie seemed to have weakened. It still didn’t seem like he could be woken up by brute force. But at least now they had the vestige of an idea of what was keeping the rookie sleeping. Although no wind seemed to be entering the small hut now, they could still hear it blowing outside, moving the palm trees that were located around the small cabin. What was keeping this Gabumon sleeping like a baby? Had they tried everything they could try? Maybe they had to think outside the box?
Regarding Tadayoshi, his situation was a tad different. While the majority of his deployed team had not been able to find any information, the fact that they had covered so much terrain meant they had to unavoidably find an open door. Well, it was technically a closed door, but… you know. While Renamon’s flirting didn’t seem to be having any effect on the youngest of the Weregarurumons (and she would soon find out why), the wolf seemed to be too kind to ignore the fox’s questions. “Oh! This is just where the pirates re-““Shush it!” The older of the duo nudged his partner, trying to stop him for revealing anything else. “You have to stop agreeing so easily to everything.”“B-But she wants to help us get my wristband back!”
To this, the wolf’s eyes widened. Then, a sigh. “Okay. I guess she can help. Not like either of us can move from here anyway.” Then, his eyes went to Renamon, willing to explain the situation to her. “Listen: This dimwit here exchanged his favorite wristband to one of the members of our team, a WereGarurumon named Juck.”The younger wolf seemed to get a bit flustered. “Juck offered him to trade him a couple of old coins for his wristband. And since this idiot can’t say ‘no’ to anyone, he accepted. Now he’s feeling sad because his boyfriend gave that wristband to him.” To this revelation, his partner seemed to get a lot more flustered. “T-That’s…” Was the only thing he muttered, blushing lightly. “Show her the coins.” The older wolf demanded. To this, the shyest of the two extended his right hand, which contained three bronze coins, with a very odd design etched on it. “I think Juck is somewhere on the upper floors. If you can convince him to reverse the exchange, that would be great."
Now, the wolf that had remained mostly quiet up to now finally spoke up. “Y-You can take the coins. If you can convince him of giving the wristband back without using those, you can keep them. I don’t need them. Maybe they could come up as useful to you later?”
The rest of the army had still had no luck. Tadayoshi and Commandramon couldn't find a table where something interesting was taking place, people couldn't really see or hear Angel and Jekyll and Hide couldn't spot anything of interest. But that was fine, ultimately. It was obvious their chance was right in front of their female, foxy beauty.
Finally, there were Alan and Levi, who had gotten involved in a very strange situation. Who was this BlackVeemon? It was not just a physical resemblance. He said things that Levi’s significant other would say, mainly related to their relationship or the things they had done together. It was true, however, that he didn’t seem surprised at all of seeing them there. Why? Other than this enormous oddity, the blonde and the Veemon seemed to be doing… very well! “You’re right!” A smile was drawn on the dragon’s mouth. “I’ve always known you’re very smart, so no surprise there.” He punctuated that sentence with a chuckle while he scratched the back of his head. Then, his attention went back to the deck as he started shuffling the cards once again. Without really explaining the reason why Levi was right on the choice he made, the black digimon seemed ready for the next round. “If you get this one right, you’d have won. If you miss, it will be decided in the last round.”Once he was done shuffling, the dealer laid three cards over the table again. “Like a ball bouncing everywhere, a shooting star you can see twice. At least until he takes a bunny out of his hat. Who found the key of the chest to your heart?”
On top of the wooden board and on each card, respectively, Alan and Levi would find three more digimons: Wizardmon, Rassielmon, MetalGarurumon. Inventory:-Rocket Pirates Card. [Crucial item] [Genesis] -Dusk Pirates Card. [Crucial item] [Alan] -Old coins. [Gift] [Waiting...] Tadayoshi Teppei and Silence Sinn Alan Pantell

Genesis audibly hummed as she rubbed her chin and examined the sleeping Gabumon. It wasn't the chair, but the door closing seemed to stir him. She looked to Viktor, who was flicking his tail... which she knew meant one thing:
"Whatcha thinking?"
Viktor sushed her as he listened, hearing the trees and the the wind softly howling against the sea shed. He blinked and then tapped his forehead;
"It's the wind."
Genesis rolled her eyes and leaned on her hip, "Yeah... we know that already. It didn't work."
"No I mean... the sound of the wind."
Genesis tilted her head and watched as Viktor walked over to their bag and pulled cotton from one of her pillows, much to her terror!
"H-hey! That's my favorite, why are you- Viktor!"
He ripped the bits of cotton and thoroughly placed them into the tired Gabumon's large ears. Eliminating all sounds to enter into his head. He grabbed a dry erase board and a marker from the bag, another item they used to plan movements and 'attacks' without any traces against them. He was ready to write and let the old man write, if he should awake. This wasn't Viktor's only plan, should this not work. Two more items remained in his head but... he was fairly certain this was it.
"If this doesn't work, I have a few more ideas." he stated, only to garner Genesis' eye roll yet again!
"This had better work if you're gonna waste my pillows like that!"

Tadayoshi, failing to hear anything else remotely interesting, continued to keep one eye on Renamon's progress. She perked up when someone said the P-word, and he noticed.
Finally, a lead. As encouraging as that was, what was discouraging was that was about as much as she was going to get by prodding. Her feminine charms would have little effect on someone like the younger wolf. Never did she have a problem with queer relationships except for right now, when it was making her job unexpectedly harder. She accepted the coins and tucked them safely under her half-sleeve, which is what she wanted the guards to notice what she tried to conceal with some sleight-of-hand was that she also took something out of her sleeve: Bravo the MetalKoromon. "Oh, I'm so sorry," she empathetically pined for the younger WereGarurumon. She wanted him to believe that when she reached in to hug him, she was just trying to comfort him. Actually, she was trying to stick the little digimon into his pants pocket without being noticed. "I'll see what I can for you, OK, honey? I can be very persuasive."
Who knew? Maybe 'Juck' was heteosexual.' Knowing what she was up to, Tadayoshi enabled the DRM on his end for the MetalKoromon cluster all at once on his Xros Loader, hopefully making them just a bit harder to detect. He was a little surprised to hear Renamon say what she said as she disengaged form the conversation, though. "Get out."
"Excuse me?"
"I want the Missimon's help, but no one can see you deploy them. Get out."
"What do you want them for?"
"I need good thieves."
Tadayoshi stood up. "Captain, I need to step outside a moment. You're in charge." And he did as told, trying to find somewhere nearby that was discreet. Behind the building looked pretty good. "Talons 4 through 10, deploy."
"Yes!"
"Finally!" "Woohoo!"
"Arrrrrr!"
"Avast!"
"Landlubbers!"
"Shhh!" The boy tried to quiet the excitable little missiles. "Renamon, Talons 4 through 10 present. Go ahead."
"Pirates hang out downstairs. They'll let us in if we give one of the whiny guards his precious wristband back. We could buy it back, but I can think of a more efficient solution." Renamon made for the stairs as she continued to explain, "I'll mark the target. The kids do their thing and escape, like they always do. Our invitation should be in the mail soon after."
"Alright. Worth a shot, at least."
"The Missimon will wait for my signal. Standby."
"I'll head back inside, then." Tadayoshi had a good feeling about this. Those six used to be orphans who stole for a living, after all. He thought chances were low they'd fail to get what they wanted unseen, even lower that they'd miss it entirely. And if they're caught in the act, they can make an escape without any connection to the rest of us. Renamon, you crafty fox.
As Renamon was about to crest the stairs, she began to canvas the area for other WereGarurumon. Over comms she requested, "Alan, Levi, keep an eye out for a WereGarurumon, possibly wearing a wristband, name: Juck. Find a way to signal us if you see him first." With that, she'd continue climbing to the next floor up. "Jekyll and Hyde, look around the third floor. Angel, get your drunken butt to the second. I'll take the fourth." "Yes, ma'am!" "Since when do you give the orders?" "Just do it, guys! You want her to get grumpy again?"
Renamon took the old coins. Bunny Charm must cool down: 1 post remaining.

Levi gave his partner a sideways glance, returned in kind. The next riddle seemed almost too easy, but there truly could only be one answer:
>From the three choices, Wizardmon is the only digimon Alan and Levi had seen before. >Pulling a bunny out of one's hat is something magicians are known to do. >Wizardmon is the only choice which wears a hat. >Whether the "opponent" is Archon or not, the fact is that they know what Archon knows, and they had told Archon of their encounter with a Wizardmon who provided them with the Digimental of Integrity, no doubt the "key of the chest to your heart" referred to by the question.
They didn't have to spend too much time thinking before they nodded to each other and confirmed, "We choose Wizardmon," pointing to the card to make absolute sure their choice was understood.
"Let me take this," said Alan to sneak in a quick response to Tadayoshi. "What's up? Yeah, sure, I'll look when I can spare the time and focus. We're in the middle of something. See ya." He wasn't sure whether he needed to pretend he was taking a random call, but it seemed like the right thing to do. Even so, he would scan the surroundings every so often to check for this WereGarurumon. They'd be easier to spot on this floor than the previous one.

Ugh. Nothing. How hard could it be to wake a Gabumon up!? Realizing the wind was related to the beast’s slumber had definitely been a step forward. But then… how come plugging his ears did not work? He was not listening to the wind any longer, was he? Then why did he remain asleep? The sensation that time was running out would keep growing in both Genesis and Viktor. If the big operation was taking place tonight, it was likely the Rocket Pirates were going to get ready to leave at any minute. If they left before the duo got to them, it would be too late to make an alliance, and they would have to work with the Dusk Pirates only, assuming the group at the Lost Droplet could get to them. In a puzzle that had proven to be harder than they expected, the duo was running out of options and time. They could not try just anything at this point, they really had to take a significant step forward to solve this. And they had to do it now. They should stop and actually think how to go through this. Maybe they were not looking in the right direction. Maybe their answer was not where they were aiming. But… where could it be? Had something pointed them somewhere different? Maybe it was a good moment to go through their options again. Through their belongings, even. There was an item that brought them here, right? Did that item say anything interesting regarding what they should approach? Come on, they could do it!
So, how was everyone faring off at the Lost Droplet? “Ow, you’re wrong.” The Darkveemon issued a sigh, looking fairly sad. He took back the three cards and put them in his deck, not before actually scooping the Metalgarurumon card forward and tapping it twice. The gesture probably meant that was the right answer. But… why? “Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll get it next time.” The dragon offered a smile to the pair while he shuffled his deck again. “Okay, so this is the last round. If you fail, you’ll get no prize.” This was it. There did not seem to be any special punishment related to their defeat. Except for the most obvious punishment of not getting a prize. “Come on, you’ve got this.”With this, he placed three more cards on the table. “My heartbeat is the proof I’m still alive. I get that proof. And I lose it. I get it again. And I lose it. This is caused by light, merging with darkness. The voice I can hear sending the loneliness away belongs to someone. Who is it?” ChoHakkaimon. Sealsdramon. Mastemon. Maybe it was a good idea to think about what did the first and the second answer have in common. And how did they relate to what Veemon had said when they started playing.
Of course the younger WereGarurumon just receive the hug and did not notice the MetalKoromon being stuck to his clothing. His partner found weird the predisposition to a hug coming from the fox but did not really do anything about it. He did, however, issued a little ‘clue’ on how to find her objective. “I think you’ll recognize Juck when you see him. He really stands out from the rest.”The rest of the squad would find that, at each of the floors, two or three Weregarurumon could be found. At this point, it was quite obvious they were part of the security of the bar, so it was not odd to find so many around. However, none of them was wearing any wristband. It was Renamon herself who would find a Weregarurumon that was definitely different. The fourth floor was nothing too different from the second and third. A bar, some tables, and definitely less crowded than the first one. In this case, the tables seemed to have been moved closer to the walls, to leave more room at the center of the establishment. The reason? A group of Weregarurumon was reunited right in the middle of the hall. Some of them were just lying on the floor, while some of them seemed to be training or exercising. Apparently, this floor was the place where the security guards rested, due to it not having too many clients. Renamon would quickly notice all of the wolves’ looks going directly at her as soon as she entered the area. These were definitely different from that younger Weregarurumon downstairs. They seemed to be a lot more interested in her. Did any of the guards stand out from the rest? Most definitely. A giant, truly massive WereGarurumon was shadowboxing around the northern side of the room. He was at least three or four feet bigger than the rest of the group. So, what was the plan? Renamon's first thought upon entering the room full of burly WereGarurumon security who all seemed to have their eyes on her was, Better not start trouble up here, followed by, Hmm, this seems familiar. I think I had a dream like this once. Feigning innocent confusion, she looked behind herself and muse , "Hmm?" but that was just a cover so she could mutter, "Cancel the thieves," without any of them seeing her mouth. Over comms she could hear the Missimon each complain, "Oh-"
"-that-"
"-is-"
"-such-"
"-a-"
"-bummer!"
Not for me. Renamon turned on the charm. She ditched her old shy little girl routine that she practiced trying to get into the heads of the brothers below. Now, she was the hottest digimon in the building. She was the sun, and the digital world revolved around her. She was in charge with the looks to back up her authority. Knowing she was being gawked at by a few, she started to stroll through the floor a distance away from each WereGarurumon. The vixen made eye contact with them as she passed, giving the impression she was evaluating them, judging them, even smiling a little, trying to give each one the impression that he had a real chance at being the chosen one before moving on to his friend instead. Don't forget the tail swish, honey, she reminded herself.
This impersonation of a vixen looking for a date set up her approach to what was, conveniently, the biggest, strongest-looking WereGarurumon in a bar full of 'em. The alpha of the pack. Teppei, I might just hate you a little bit less. When her eyes went to Juck, she grinned, stood a bit taller, and stopped minding all his wolf buddies. She found the one. Since the tables were moved along the walls and Juck was to one side, Renamon sat herself on top of the table (not a chair) closest to Juck, leaned in toward him, and smirked wryly. "Well, hellooooo, handsome." She tried to catch one of his hands punching hands, specifically the one with a band on its wrist, into hers to get his attention. She also attempted to build a little trust by not making any move for the band and acting like she didn't even notice it. "Are you off the clock for the night? I was looking for a little company. Downstairs was getting a bit... noisy."

Alan rested one hand on the table, a quiet screeching sound drowned out by environmental noise as he dragged his fingers together into a fist. Alas, Levi and he had been wrong in their guess, and the fist loosened away. Naturally, it wasn't that easy. Winning best two out of three just doesn't happen if you haven't gotten to the third round yet. The human twitched with anger and confusion when the supposedly correct answer was pointed out, but he took care not to let himself lash out in so much as a minor way for nothing.
"I don't think I like the idea of the 'key to the chest of my heart' being found by someone I can't remember ever seeing before..." grumbled Levi. The mention of a prize was bittersweet, the conflicting emotions balancing out into a non-reaction being received from the tamer and his partner. But now the third round was here, and all they could do was give it their all.
Of course, they were now presented with quite the conundrum:
>In the first round, the correct answer had been the digimon that they had remembered seeing before, as well as the digimon whose nature was referenced in the riddle itself. >In the second round, the same logic they used to answer the first round was applied: they had selected the digimon they had seen before, and whose nature was referenced in the riddle, but this turned out to be incorrect. >Here, in the third round, the digimon whose nature was referenced in the riddle, and the digimon whom Alan and Levi had encountered before were two different choices. >Most obviously, Mastemon would appear to be the darkness and light referenced by the riddle, however... it would be just that - too obvious. And there was reason to believe the "speaker" in the riddle is not one half of Mastemon. Instead, they would consider their adventure in the Dark Area, the package, found and lost, found and lost, the smokescreen, the thieves, and... the voice they heard, sending their loneliness away.
"We've done all we can. Any deeper thought would be a pointless usage of time. We choose this card." Levi pointed a claw at the ChoHakkaimon card.

As Renamon moved through the pack of wolves, the difference between these WereGarurumon and the two downstairs became even more evident. She could actually feel the heaviness of all of them scanning her body from head to toes. Each and every one of them was interested in her; the fox’s movements, the wiggling of her tail and her sole presence were driving them crazy, and that much was obvious. They all kept silent, and their eyes said anything that needed to be said.
As he heard the rest of the pack go silent, the giant WereGarurumon’s eyes moved to the left, to actually glance at the female beast going his way. Immediately, he focused back on his training, throwing punches until the beauty was close enough. It was likely Renamon was actually able to tell the moment where this cold shell the wolf was trying to show broke: right when she swung her body to sit over that table. His eyes widening, he let out a scoff, before going back to his relaxed appearance, throwing some more punches.
“Who are you?” He asked, responding coldly to the fox’s greeting. The moments the wolf actually looked at the vixen were very ephemeral, almost as if he was trying to not be seduced by her beauty. Was he having a hard time to accomplish that? Most definitely. However, he still acted nonchalantly, seemingly not very interested in the female.
“My shift starts in around half an hour.” He answered. “You can hang around here if it’s noisy down there, though…” The beast man’s eyes went towards some of his partners for a second. “… I don’t know if these guys will be able to control themselves much longer, though. They seem to really like you.”
For how long was he going to play hard?
The giant WereGarurumon had a light blue wristband wrapped around his right forearm. It was definitely different from anything else any of the other wolves were wearing. Could that one be it?
Once Levi made his choice, the DarkVeemon’s expression changed into a serious one, something the two of them had probably not seen so far. His eyes went towards the cards and the dragon’s finger. He took a deep breath before he started speaking.
“I could tell from the get-go, you decided to assume I was not the person I reassembled, regardless of what I said or the things I knew. Instead, and although I was shuffling the cards and pulling them out randomly, you decided to believe I was doing some type of magic or using things I knew from your past to play with you. I never claimed to know magic or being able to know things about your past. Why would you assume I did? It was easier to assume I only knew the things the person I was claiming to be had experienced at your side.”
Maybe that was a bit confusing, although it did make some sense. Was that why Alan and Levi had taken these decisions? “When I said 'pay attention to your surroundings', I meant these surroundings, because how would I know what digimon did you interact with before we met in this exact same inn?” A pause ensued, as the digimon started pulling the cards back into his deck. “That being said, 'your surroundings' are not only the digimon around the place where you are.” Out of the deck, he pulled out the Labramon card and showed it to Levi.
“… It also accounts for the digimon they can become. What they are more prone to evolve into.” He added, showing him the MetalGarurumon card, and finally…
… Tapping the Sealsdramon card on the table twice, before putting it back inside the deck.
“I’m sorry.” The black digimon let out a sigh, starting to stand up. “Your partner seems to be doing fairly well, so I think you’ll still be able to get your ticket inside without my help. You shouldn’t be too far from her when she makes it, though, you don’t want to be all scattered around the bar when the door opens.” Slowly, he started walking away. “We’ll probably meet again, though.” He added, lifting up the back of his hand for his goodbye. “I’ll have a new game for you when that happens.” The DarkVeemon just went down the stairs and into the ground floor. He had nothing interesting to add to this mission anymore.
Well, this group’s hopes were deposited on Renamon now.
