"Maybe we should - eep!"
"H-hey there!"
Plucked up in each of Renee's arms, Dr. Mikemon gave a hearty laugh as Syre found her fur stand up with a start, before calming down and letting out her own chuckle. The Renamon plopped right down on the chair, Syre giving a groan as she found herself hugged close to her mother. Though, something was off: she could feel a shiver, like her mother was cold. Was her arm shaking? She looked down, and, yes, it was - but it wasn't because of anything in the room.
... Was that just as strong as that arm could hold her?
No, she shook that thought out of her head, and grasped tight around K's side, and gave a wide, vivid smile. Mikemon gave a nod, the Etemon rolling his eyes as he shot the first picture.
And the next. And the next. Several followed, the four of them changing positions, taking silly poses or just seeing what worked better for the camera. Holly on a shoulder, tail wrapped around K like a scarf; Mikemon sitting on her lap while Syre rested in both of K's arms - it was all jovial, jolly fun, and a good twenty minutes later, they were all laughing about it and flipping through the electronic album.
"Heh, I like this fifth one here..."
"No way, that's the only one where I sneezed!"
Sheesh! One couldn't see a more perfect, happy family than this!

"What?"
The goofy grin that followed suit was only added on by the soft rubbing of her cheek against either one of them. She was glad to have a family like this, glad that she could at the very least give them something to remember herself by. Something that she, a mother and wife could give to her family even if it was eventually going to lead to sadness.
She had to push through the small amount of physical discomfort her arm felt to keep this going. Her shivering, the coldness, the weakness in her arm. That was all pushed to one side for the smiling. Her body wasn't repairing itself like it should or wasn't recovering like it should. That arm would probably be the first thing to go once she did.
K was glad they could manage such silly images and couldn't help but laugh as they progressed. Seeing the images later made her smile further and she couldn't help but give her kids small rubs on their heads. Holly was super interested in the images and gave a marvelous giggle at some of them.
"I like all of them to be honest..."
K sighed softly, glad that she was able to have this. To be there with her family. As most as she could. Her eye would flick to her arm as she caught herself shaking a little bit. Her other arm snatching at it to stop it from being noticeable. Though this action in itself would of drawn notice and she felt her expression grow dark for a moment before she'd sigh.
"Let me make us lunch and we can go to the lake..."
Would she even be able to hold a rod?

"We'll get prints of them all, don't worry."
Mikemon gave her a playful nudge with his elbow, before moving to settle a few business matters with the Etemon. A bit card changed hands, and with a thumbs up (and a copy of a flash drive of the photos for good measure - the ultimate would develop the proper prints later), the group was good to go back to the Library. No time to waste: next up was lunch and the fishing trip!
"Mhm! Syre, Holly, go on ahead and wash up. Oh, Holly, no need to get your lure, the boat's gonna have their own to work with." Mikemon opened a portal, Syre giving a nod as the two lead on through. Before K would follow, however, the doctor would reach up, press a hand against that shaking arm, and radiate his healing energy out through it.
"Just like you to grin and bear it, hun." The cat gave a smile, shaking his head. K's condition was going to get worse - that was inevitable, over the next few days. "If it gets bad, let me know. I know I say all this bad stuff about 'magic healing'... but this week, I'll take the edge off whenever you need it."
There was no point keeping her in pain, after all.

"Good, good. Could get one of those multi-picture frames for the family area..."
K mused and grinned at the playful nudge. She'd shift lightly, still hugging at her kids for a moment before letting them go. She'd watch the interaction with the Etemon. He was the first and last of his kind that she had and would ever see. She'd turn her head lightly to her kids and watch them run off to go get washed up. She had no problems going through the portal, though she'd playfully stick her hand into it to sort of feel the difference between the inside of this place and the outside of by the lake before going in proper!
K on the other hand, well. Her arm couldn't stop shaking and she'd grit her teeth lightly. She'd ease out a small sight and close her eyes as that energy radiated through her.
"Used to use it to ease the pain if someone got hurt elsewhere... but thank you dear... I'd do it but I feel like that'd just make things worse..."
She'd lean down to press her forehead against his before sighing sweetly. She'd manage to follow through into the portal, standing on the other side feeling somewhat out of sorts. She'd bite down on her lower lip and look around...

"Don't worry, hun. Whatever it takes, I'm going to make sure that you can enjoy this week, proper."
Mikemon gave the Renamon a smile - and ushered her through the portal, lest he feel his emotions well up inside his chest again. Right - for the kids, at the very least, the two had to keep moving. First was the brief stop at the library, and as Syre and Holly spent a little time to themselves, Mikemon would help K with the packed lunches, doing the more precise actions that required a steady arm while K got everything packed up. They would have time to eat on the boat, of course, and it wouldn't take them long to finally set out through another portal.
And as Holly would soon find out, this wasn't just some fishing by the edge of a small pond, but actual lake fishing! Water stretched out a good distance, the horizon only barely showing the other side, as the group appeared from a portal on a marina, a good-sized pontoon boat ready and waiting for them.
"Whoa... where are we?"
"About two and a half miles north of Whitewater. Not a lot of 'mons know of this spot... and no-one rents in the middle of the week so we got it all to ourselves." Mikemon grinned, as Syre wrapped an arm around Holly's shoulders!
"Heh... guess this is your first real fishing trip, ya fishin' nut!"

"I appreciate it dear. Hopefully I won't need it too much..."
K returned that smile, feeling a throbbing in her core before stepping through the portal. They needed to keep moving, it was something they'd need to do. At least for the kids if not themselves. The brief stop at the library she was relatively thankful for and didn't seem to have that much of an issue with most of the preparations for lunch. Though she was glad that the more precise actions could be left up to her husband.
Holly perked up and found her eyes growing huge at seeing the huge lake in front of them. The pontoon boat immediately caught her attention and she'd find her jaw dropping just a little bit.
"This looks so cool!"
She'd grin ear to ear and playfully push at her sister. It was really her first real fishing trip. She didn't even know that you could do fishing like this, she had presumed it had been all by the shore or something like that. She couldn't help but feel a nervous twinge somewhere deep about the potential dangers laying in wait under them but... Considering who was present she felt that they didn't really even have to worry!
"Lets go then; it'll take a bit to get out to the good spots won't it?"
K chuckled lightly, rubbing at her muzzle thoughtfully. She had never been on the lake before, sure most of her fishing escapades back at the inn were riverside. Barring that she'd just buy fish from a local merchant or order out from terminus. The fox stepping lightly to basically lead the way to the boat...

They needed to keep going.
That feeling was true in Mikemon's heart as well. As they stepped through the portal into the gorgeous, sunny, lakeside weather, the calm waters and the boat laid out before them, the doctor kept a smile on his face. He chuckled to her daughters: "Alright, careful, no rough-housing on the boat." He wrapped an arm around each of their shoulders, before stepping right on up, motioning for the others to follow along.
This boat would have normally held two groups heading out, but at this time of the week, the marina was glad to get any traffic that it could get! With a Divermon at the helm, it didn't take long to set out for the middle of the lake, the boat switching to idle speed as it settled into place. One thing Holly - and likely the rest of them - would notice were that these poles were far taller and stronger than what would have been used on the coast, perhaps enough for Holly to want to use her MeiCrackmon form. The Divermon showed them how to get their lures deep down in the lake, and simply instructed:
"So, yeah, when you see the top of yours zip down, it means ya got a bite. Take hold, reel it on in, and toss it back if you catch a Digi. Good?"
Simple enough! Mikemon helped Syre get her line out, leaving K to help Holly (or the other way around?).

K rubbed at the back of her head, smiling slightly as her husband told the both of their daughters not to roughhouse. Amusingly neither one of them really did all too much of that past occasionally giving the other a playful push. She had never seen them actually fight or the like which... in some places might seem a bit odd. But to her she was grateful for that. She'd sit down with a small relieved sigh as the boat set off.
Holly on the other hand was full of energy even with this entire situation nipping at her heels. She'd peer over the edge of the boat as it moved, ooing even as some water splashed up against her face causing her to have to wipe it off with her paws.
It didn't take her very long to note that she needed to be in a higher form for these poles and with permission from the driver she'd take her champion tier meicrackmon grinning foolishly as she helped her mother get her own line out as well as getting one out for herself. It wouldn't be all too much longer before k was leaning over the side, watching her lure bob on the lake while holly was practically draped over the side of the boat. Idly batting at the water as it came up against the boat. She was chock full of energy amusingly enough...
"This is nice..."
"Fishing, lunches and most of the family!"
"That's right dear..."
Holly shot a look over to both mikemon and syre, a puzzled expression crossing her face and she'd rub her head awkwardly. She didn't know what to talk about here, she was never really super good at conversations... Most of hers tended to just be barrages of questions!

"See, they're using full fish as bait, so you need to get that hook in there nice and deep..."
Mikemon was helping Syre, the BlackGatomon tilting her head as she watched her dad set up her lure as well as his own. Aside from that, this was to be a nice, relaxing lunch and a good time out by the lake... but in hindsight, perhaps this wasn't the best place to go out.
Well, it was fine for Holly: nice and high energy! But something like fishing, which involved just watching the world go by? It gave K time to think, simply lounging over the edge of the boat, staring out into the water. Holly seemed to be at a loss, Mikemon giving a nervous chuckle as her daughter looked over in his direction.
"Careful over there, hun. You never know when-"
- A fish was going to strike! K and Holly's respective lines both dipped down almost at the same time, catching at least something down in the depths! Alright, good, something to change the tension - it seems like they got a good spot!

Holly's ears flicked a bit as she heard her da talk to her sister. She'd hum thoughtfully at that information and turn her head to her ma who seem to be lost in thought. Her eyes sort of staring at the lure but not really seeing it. There was a edge of sadness around her face that couldn't be lost easily; holly grit her teeth and gave her ma a hug from behind which made the renamon blink in abject surprise. She'd gently pat her daughters arm with a small thankful smile creasing her lips before looking back to the lure.
Holly on the other hand once the respective lines dipped down at the same time holly quickly had to tug hers up, letting out a somewhat surprised growl at the fact it had happened when she looked away! K on the other hand struggled with her pole, her weaker arm not pulling it's weight and causing the renamon to wince a bit. It was better if she just put the darned thing down... if she could even get it back into the holster itself!
Her grip wasn't steady enough and it seemed as though the pole was going to be yanked from her grip when holly's second hand firmly grasped around her mother's fishing rod. She'd huff softly and yank hers up while also helping her ma out in putting it back. K wincing softly and rubbing at her forearm. One of her fingers was having trouble bending and she'd let out a small hiss of breath.
"Maybe I should just watch..."

Oh no.
Mikemon blinked as K grasped at the lure, struggling to even keep control of the catch. The bite on the fox's line wasn't that strong: yes, the tip was drawn down, but Holly's rod was definitely far more warped as the Meicrackmon tried to bring the fish to the surface. Mikemon's excited smile was quickly replaced with a concerned gaze as he watched his wife wince in physical pain.
Holly barely managed to get it back into the holster, before she'd be left to reel in her own catch. Syre gave a grin as the MeiCrackmon pulled in a rather sizeable bass, the doctor giving Holly a nod and a smile, before rightfully turning his attention to K.
"Alright, hun. Syre, Holly, keep an eye on each-other. Divermon, we can go by the front, right?"
"Eh? Sure, I guess." He gave shrug, and Mikemon gave a nod, carefully leading K to a place to sit down. He'd gently take K's forearm in hand, running a finger across the outside, inspecting it carefully. He... he really did not want K to be bedridden over the next few days, not if he could help it.
But he couldn't lie: "We might be pushing you too far, K. Even without... that," Mikemon gave a wide flick of his paw, clearly meaning 'the bad stuff', "the damage you took from that fight's still in your system, and your body's natural ability to recover's cut to about a third of what it was."
The cat shook his head, trying to push himself through it.
"... Fucking hell..."

K let out a soft sight as she watched her daughter work both lines rather well. She was somewhat frustrated at the fact she had to be helped like that but also was proud that her daughter was able to catch such a sizable catch on her own. The renamon bit her lower lip and flicked her ear as the mikemon asked if they could go by the front. K blinked a bit and followed after her husband quietly, shooting a soft look back to either of her daughters.
She'd flinch and grunt lightly as she felt her forearm shoot up in pain from the simple touch. She wanteds to snatch back her arm from her husband on reflex but all that occured was a hearty if not painful twitching from her fingers.
"Maybe... I don't... I don't know what we're supposed to do. I might just have to watch in some of the activities rather than... active participant."
She'd close her eyes softly and let out an earnest sigh. On the back of the boat the meicrackmon's ears flicked and she'd frown lightly. It was better if her sister didn't know of the trouble her mother was having right? Or the conversation that was going on while they were enjoying themselves.
"A third huh... normally that'd take me a week or two to recover from... Tch... what should we do?"
K didn't know what she wanted to do at this point, it seemed to her that she was going to grow weaker and weaker up until the surgery which she would then just... Fade away from. It hurt to think about and her good arm came up to grip at her head softly. She had to bite back the tears that she felt coming on.

"That hurt?"
Indeed - the hiss through K's fangs was enough to answer the cat's question, Mikemon giving both a nod and a sigh as he slowly rested his hands over that arm, a green aura radiating right over it. The aura was enough to dull the pain and heal the area, but just how damaged was it?
Flicking his gaze to the front of the boat, the doctor would give a nod towards the Renamon. "That might be for the best. We'll use stronger medicine for the rest of the week, but we're going to have to put this arm in a sling to keep it from getting even more worn out. And... oh... oh K..."
Seeing her bury her face into her palm, Mikemon's ears flattened at the back of his head. This time, he didn't tell her to be 'strong for the kids' or to 'try and endure', no. He simply brought an arm around the Renamon's back, rested his head atop her's, and calmly rubbed the top of her back.
"It's okay. It's alright." His words were whispers, the doctor barely managing to keep composure himself. "Even if we don't get to do everything we want to do, K, I'm going to be here. Spending the week with you. Whether that's skydiving from a Blimpmon or just talking and ignoring the reruns that are on TV, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

"Y-yes..."
She'd manage a somewhat stuttery answer, seeming frustrated with the fact of how weak her body suddenly felt. How little she felt like she could do, she'd close her eyes and let out a loose sigh as she could feel that green aura radiate over it. It helped with the pain and she could feel the mobility of her fingers improve a bit. She didn't know how damaged it could be or how bad it was going to be in the short term, but that was something they'd have to check later.
"We'll... do that when we get back home and... Medicine? You... well all right."
K sighed softly and ran her fingers around the bridge of her nose sighing wistfully. She was frustrated beyond belief and she was honestly glad he was here to help her out. The rubbing on her back just made her push her head against the underside of his.
"I didn't even want to do that much... just time with you and the kids..."
She'd bite her lower lip and just hug against her husband. While up in front holly's grip on the pole that she was using tightened severely. She could feel the material groan and she'd pardon herself to the back most portion of the boat, leaning 'over' the side thoughtfully while biting the inside of her cheek. A notepad and a pen in her hands while she seemed to be scribbling something down while against the railing.
"Tch... Something ought to help maybe this...?"

"Shh... the kids and I are right here. You don't need to push yourself for our sake, hun."
Mikemon gave K all the time she needed, gently hugging around the fox's shoulders as she held herself against his chest, hugging around him, keeping herself close. This... this was tough. Mikemon couldn't imagine the thoughts that were going around in the Renamon's head right now.
Everything that she wanted to do, but couldn't. Everyone that she wanted to see, but couldn't. And even now, it must have felt like little, precious moments of her life were being stolen away from her by her unfortunate injury. He gently dug his nails into K's fur, rubbing her back to try and soothe her worries.
... Yeah. Syre didn't need to hear what they were saying to know that things were bad. Her side of the boat hadn't gotten any bites, but honestly, her lure could have been halfway across the lake and she wouldn't have noticed. The BlackGatomon briefly cast her gaze towards her distraught parents, before looking away, eyes flat to the back of her head.
She couldn't do this. Hell, she felt guilty that she had any fun at all with how her mom was! With a sigh, she made her way to the back of the boat, next to Holly, taking care not to scare the larger cat as she came up.
"Holly." Syre half-whispered, looking up to her sister... though, honestly, she didn't really know what to say. She gave another glance at the front of the boat, before biting her cheek, returning her attention to the MeiCrackmon.
"... I've never seen her so sad." Obvious, yes. But it weighed heavy on her heart.
