Valt would find that, no matter where he fired his Positron Laser, the thickness of the ice remained consistent. In addition, it would have an almost supernatural sturdiness to it. Even Valt's high level techniques would fail to burn the ice immediately, the first sweep with a Positron Laser instead just leaving scorch marks along the surface of the ice. Concentrated fire would get the surface of the ice melting, followed by the edges slowly starting to shrink, but continuing on like this would be agonizingly slow.
Whereas Valt would provide steady, slow progress, Mythologomon's Firestorm would provide a quick burst of momentum. Once again, the technique failed to directly melt the ice. However, it did leave the ice so softened up that it seemed to be sweating. If Valt focused on these areas, his Positron Laser would be able to capitalize on the softened areas and cut a large chunk in the ice. It would still be a small portion of the seemingly endless sheet stretching out into the distance, but perhaps similar application of techniques could start hammering out a path for the Diplomat to travel.
It was just a shame they wouldn't have time alone to plan.
The voice fell silent at Valt asked. I . . . what? she asked, genuinely perplexed. Of course I'm Leviamon! Who the hell else could I be? Don't tell me you don't recognize me! She snorted, the ice shuddering from the sound of her frustration. Sure, everyone sees my brother, and they're all 'It's Beelzemon! I love that guy!' But when it comes to me, I don't even get recognized. Typical.
You ask what little I have? That is but one portion of it. Compared to the others, I hold little power, little reputation, little influence, and little wealth. Whereas they roam the world without a care in the world, I lie beneath the waves, taking whatever's left to flow over my way. Don't you see it now? I'm the empress of nothing.
And yet, of all your options, you come for me.
As Amelie asked her point, Leviamon hissed in irritation. Clearly, being interrupted was one of the many things that set her off. Nevertheless, she obliged. My business is simple. My brothers and sister grow in power as you waste your time with me. I wish to assist you all in teaching them a lesson they'll never forget. There is no greater pleasure I could stand to gain than seeing everything they hold over my head torn away from them. Barbamon's wealth, Lilithmon's freedom, Belphemon's security, Beelzemon's influence . . . and don't even get me started on those other two.
Simply allow me to provide you aid. Any vengeance would be hollow if not performed with my own two claws.
As Leviamon made her pitch, the same tone beeped from Ryouta's Digivice. S.O.S. This third signal had even more urgency behind it than the previous two, and repeated at least five times before finally subsiding. Occasionally a voice tried to come through the Digivice, but each time it was swallowed up by static.

Tsk, even with his high level, he cannot do anything? This is annoying... Though, Leviamon's answer... Admittedly made him semi amused. There's just something uncharacteristically funny in that answer.
"First and foremost, Lady... With no offense meant, I never met you before, nor you ever shown yourself to us. If Beelzebumon did the same, I would have gave the same reaction. It could have been you or your underling, and no one directly mentioned that it was you, so there you go!"
...If Valt have to describe Leviamon, she sounded like a lonely girl for some reason. Pity, but he guess to be the ultimate Demon Lord of Envy you must all that jealousy and enviousness build up to point you have no idea what sort of influence do you have.
"Little power... you're literally subjugating an entire ocean, that's 'little'? I swear it's much bigger than Beelzebumon's. Little influence... when literally the entire sea becomes this chaotic, and therefore influencing lives of many other... aren't that pretty much a huge influence? Everyone is responsible for their action, and your action has caused many to suffer... That's all. That's what caused us to come to you in the first place. You might think what you did was little, but for us it has grown strong enough be alarming."
Waste time with her?
"I wouldn't call it waste of time per se," Ryouta commented. "It's matter of perspective. I believe the other demon lords are being raided too at this point. It's not just you. You can play the weakling as much as you like, but it doesn't change the fact that to us you're powerful enough to cause this raid to begin with."
Hmn, interesting proposal, but... "While I can't blame you for your nature to be jealous of what you don't have... or perhaps have but you didn't notice because of your nature to be jealous... That's just impossible, isn't it? Jealousy is important for self growth and improving yourself, but let it fester too much, you will forgot what do you have... you forgot to appreciate what's given to you, and you'll just become thirsty for more and more.. Simply speaking, if we let you be at the moment and let you enact whatever it is on your agenda simply because it's convenient... aren't we just letting you to grow further and further?"
With that said...
"I'm sorry, but I have to reject that offer. If infighting between demon lords could cause a disaster, we'd rather be without. Though if the rest would like to pick up that offer then so be it, but I and my partner refused that offer. Try something else."
Ryouta looked at the cards on his deck... just Garudamon when it comes to fire huh... There's Arms of Omega, but would Omegamon's Grey Sword able to use any sort of use at times like this? He have already used the Final Destination card... drats.
"Should I just send Valt ahead of us? I don't think any my cards at the moment will help us much. The laser aren't even working." Ryouta asked to Amelie.
"No, there are more effective way, right?" Valt countered.
Oh, right.
Ryouta quickly took out his D-Nexus and slipped a chip in the reader. "Ilbert, your time to shine!"
There was some rumbling, some tremor, and before long suddenly a huge TRAIN came out from the ice sheets. The Grand Locomon just like that pierced the thinned ice, coming out and creating his own rail made of light, pretty much cruising on the air. Several ropes descended, to which Ryouta grabbed on.
"There's no time to waste, let's go."
The youth soon pulled inside by the rope. The area that he's pulled to is the lounge, complete with the bar and such. It's a luxury class train after all... But that's less important. The butler appeared, and bowed to Ryouta and Valt.
"Full speed ahead, Ilbert," Ryouta told the butler after everyone either entered or decides to not.

After the laser assault and the Firestorm assault struck the ice, Zachary looked with optimism to see if their attacks were able to clear the ice...
... however, his enthusiasm dropped to find the ice still there. Though it had weakened a bit, clearly melting from the heat of both attacks, it was yet to give and even if they did break through it, the path ahead of them was covered in ice. "You gotta be kidding me..." Zachary groaned, sinking to his elbows on the railing and hung his head low in frustration. "We barely made a dent in it!"
Mytholomon flapped his wings idley as he realized their heat and attacks were not going to do much alone. "This isn't working. We need to either find another way to cut through the ice faster, or find another way to cross the frozen ocean now," the winged jungle cat roared to the group.
By then, the voice returned, responding to Valt and identified herself as Leviamon. No surprise there as Zachary listened. He tried hard to not acknowledge the voice, push it out... but at least it was directed to all of them, and not to himself. As Amelie was answered, Zachary got a better grasp of Leviamon's goal was. He was sharp enough to catch on to Belphemon's power, so Leviamon's was no different-- representing the seven deadly sins.
"For a Demon Lord of the Ocean, you certainly give off a lot of hot air," Zachary replied in dry humor as he recovered from the disappointment of the failed cracking of the ice. He looked up to the air and heard that Ryouta actually voice his own agreement. He too could tell it was a demon lord that controlled Envy. "Like we would believe anything someone as envious and deceitful as you would say? So buzz off. We are not falling for your tricks and I refuse to be your pawn!" Zachary shouted.
While he didn't like Ryouta at the time, he agreed with him 100%.
Returning to the problem at hand, however, was the ice and the other SOS was coming in. Louder this time and pressing the stress on them all. "We can't stay here, and I don't know how much we can do to break the ice. By the time we finish, the others will be as good as sunk." Zachary stated.
"We can fly there if we abandon the ship for the time being. Valt should go ahead. " the winged panther roared, "If we leave now, we just might make it."
Zachary waved for Panthermon to come down and he obeyed. Just as he was about to get on Mytholomon's back, Ryouta did something different. While they were stuck, it seemed he had other ideas and plugged a chip into his Digivice. Suddenly the ice trembled, and something metallic shot out! At first, Zachary thought it was some kind of submarine, but it soon shot into the air to reveal it was a train! He thought it could be a Trailmon, like the ones in Shibuya Station Underground, but instead it was stronger, and bigger.
WIth Ryouta telling them all to get in, Zachary grabbed Mytholomon as the winged panther took off. He flew as fast as he could and into the train. The cold was chased away by the cozy warmth of the luxurious car. There was cushy seats, food at the bar and they were going far faster than they would alone. The ship might of been stuck, but they were not as they were inside.
"Cozy," Mytholomon purred as he sat himself down and folded in his flaming wings as best as he could.
Zachary stuffed his hands in his coat pocket and turned away from Ryouta. He had a private train he could summon. He had saved their butts this time in this situation, however, Zachary felt a burn of envy that he had done so. Ryouta clearly was a superior tamer to Zachary and he felt completely pushed aside in many ways today.
Envy was starting to sprout in Zachary's heart... and that might not have good results later on if Leviamon could sense it.

It was the big croc herself, huh? Well, that made sense, considering how much of a hurdle this whole trip was being. Sadly, Amelie herself didn't have time for idle chatter with a voice, despite what she had explicitly told it and a fitting reaction to such a request, refused to get to the point.
She shrugged at such words. "For what's worth, I think that a giant croc is way cooler than a furry devil, an edgy biker, an emaciated old man, a glorified succubus, a teddy bear with anger issues and demon that still thinks he's an angel and has delusions of grandeur to boot. You could bundle them all together and they still would have no chance. Being humble and modest about it is appreciated, but definitely not needed, milady."
Being confrontational about it probably wouldn't be able to yield any results, except maybe angering a being that was blocking their path and making what constituted a tricky situation even dicier. In any case, the demon's proposal was interesting, and despite both Zachary and Ryouta dismissing it right away, why not give it a shot?
Amelie gave Ryouta a nod when in regards to his question. "Tell him he has complete operational freedom until he finds Ophanimon; we can handle this just fine." Once that had been taken care of, the brunette went back to Leviamon. "So, my underlings' rudeness notwithstanding, why are you interested in making a deal with us of every chosen far and wide the Digital World; modesty aside, we're not even that formidable as a fighting force, and I frankly doubt the three of us could really face any Demon Lord in a head-on engagement and emerge victorious—or even alive from it. So, what's the point?"
Taking the cue, and one of the ropes that had been laid by Ilbert, Amy ascended inside the train, yet made sure to keep her speech uninterrupted. "I hope you won't mind me changing my negotiating platform. I don't do so well in colder environments, you see..." The brunette added, apologetically. "But I am willing to hear any further details you might have in mind regarding your plan, milady. And, if you're willing to take personal requests, why don't we negotiate on a cozier place, maybe over a cup of tea? That'd be more fitting of your position instead of just reaching to us in an uncomfortable situation like this one. As things are, a being of your intellect would surely understand that forging an alliance deserves a better scenery than this one."
How would Leviamon would respond to such statements? Time to find out.

A confused hiss waved its way through the heads of those assembled. Don't lie to me. Everyone knows the sound of Beelzemon, she hissed. When they do not, he makes it well clear who he is. And when they neglect to ask, he goes out of his way to find them. So, too, does my sister. So, too, do the rest of my brothers. And with the everything they have to offer, their gifts, their sweet relief, is it any wonder they draw such attention?
Only Barbamon joins me in the shadows. And unlike me, he does so by choice.
Zachary's response was about as expected. Yet Ryouta, and especially Amelie, were much more receptive to her statements. Ryouta spoke in objective terms, stressing the scope of her power and influence. He was right that the ocean was a huge area of territory to claim dominion over, and that many lives would be caught up in her wake. Amelie, on the other hand, focused on the subjectives. She dismissed the other Demon Lords' appearances and demeanors, earning a mildly amused snort from Leviamon in response. You're correct. I am capable of so much more than they realize, she said. Yet they leave me with this. A big, blue expanse of emptiness. Digimon live here, true, yet few and far between. The one city it can lay claim may as well still be a wasteland. And while the sea touches the land in many places, my influence ends with the coastlines. It ebbs and flows with the tides.
I must travel three times the distance just to find half of the success. All while the rest of the pompous lot splits the cornerstones of this world among them. It didn't seem like Amelie would be getting any thank yous for her glowing description, but the change in Leviamon's tone was palpable. Before, she at least kept her contempt in check, trying to keep her offer of assistance in neutral tones. Yet now, with Amelie opening the door for an ego stroking, the bile in Leviamon's voice was clear. The tension with the other Demon Lords went beyond professional differences.
Maybe it was that bit of commiserating that lead to Leviamon opening up. Instead of focusing on the majority of group rejecting her, Leviamon's focus was now on Amelie. Why? Because I recognize this one, she hissed. Zachary would feel a pair of massive eyes staring him down, even if he couldn't see them anywhere. He was at the frontline of the search for Belphemon. Shortly after he and his companions arrived, Bagramon followed. And now he's here, looking for me. I could ask every boat passing through my domain to hear me out. But if I want to make sure my voice is heard, who better than an angel's little errand boy and his far more competent companions? Okay, so maybe Leviamon wasn't ignoring Zachary entirely! The venom in her voice was enough to put down a baby elephant.
How I wish I could so casually change accommodation, she said, her voice booming through Ilbert's head as well the second he arrived. There is but one place I may stay. It is not cozy. There is no tea. It is my domain, and yet it is also my prison. Despite all of this, it is my home. I am no fool. Knowing where it is gives you far too much power over me. Yet I do still wish to negotiate, even if most of you choose to spurn me as expected. And as you are my guests, the least I may do is explain my regrettable choice of scenery.
The voice grew quiet. Then, softer, it started up again. Humans. You have not one, but two, worlds you call your home.
Why?

...Ryouta...did not ask for the other two's input the slightest, but he kept his tongue in check. Valt quizzically tilted his head meanwhile at the suggestion, then... pretty much both human and Digimon eyes are widened...
They're in Leviamon's domain. They're in Leviamon's backyard pretty much, and these two starts to mouth off to her? Do they even realize what the meaning of team effort are? Are they trying to pull all of them to danger? Granted Ryouta isn't the best either with his rejection, but at least he's courteous, rather than asinine like this. Ryouta... and Valt even, is completely frozen of how to address this...
Leviamon's talk fortunately... and strangely more compelling to address than the previous issue. There's just something funny how your opponent's chattering and ranting is more exciting prospect than your own team member's rant.
"Well to hell with them. To me you demon lords are the same anyway, seven major power of Digital World beyond what many could have imagined... And really, I never met him, or any of you. We're talking now, though, and that's what's more important than some unknown demon lords on the back of my mind. Who cares about the rest when you're presenting yourselves to us like this?" Valt countered.
Influence ends with the coastline?
"Deep demon of the oceans, you put your power too lightly. The treacherous storm, the billowing waves, the glaciers that formed on the surface... the sea might be something that you find 'insignificant', but that's only because you saw more lucrative thing that owned by the other six demon lords... Yet without the sea, Whitewater's economy will be destroyed... it's not too farfetched to say that it'll be destroyed. Food needs heightened now that seawater fishes are no longer available, and at its worst dark area will be further isolated.
Such power don't you think?" Ryouta countered.
...Still, he began to see something. Why would Leviamon is salty to this point... Part of him wondered if there is anything that he can do to somehow purify this? He don't feel that offing Leviamon is beneficial anymore... A known enemy seem to be better than an unknown enemy with different approach with same shell.
Far more competent companions? Ryouta snorted. Outside, Valt even laughed hard, thankfully he's far ahead from Ilbert.
Hmm, so like Belphemon, she's prisoned?
"The at least, humor me on this one question, Milady," Ryouta speaks again "assume that we agree to help you on reducing the other demon lord's influence. You said you'd like to do it with your own hand, but how exactly would you assist us while you're down there? An avatar or sort?"
But either way, she does have rights to question too. Ryouta heard her voice again... How human seem to have two homes.
"...Then I'm guessing even demon lords have no idea of why humans become chosen... Well, to answer that question... I have no idea personally, but if I have to say, we create that home. Our original home are place where we belong simply because we're born there, and our second home is place that we create, that we struggle and strive for so they accept us and feel welcome.
...However, Milady, at times this is not true. There are outcasts in any of the world. Chosens are pretty much outcasts in our human society if we can't be adaptive to standard of what human world wanted from us. For example, even the most successful human businessman in Digital World could be just a hated NEET from real world... What a world have to offer, another might not. Our potential sometimes realized only in one world but not another. This dual life creates a clashing feeling, and for youths, Digital World is where one could feel "more important". Is it illusion? Who knows... But I can't deny that chosens have double life of living in human world and Digital World... worlds which doesn't necessarily accepts them. Those who failed to adapt would feel crushed by the weight of their double life
As for me personally? I'm still lost in this dual life thing... I don't know how to shape my own future yet... but... I just keep moving forward. It's everyone's desire to be accepted, it's everyone's desire to belong. I simply move forward with what I believe is right. I might be wrong, but then so be it. It might not be an easy life when I know no one in real world that is not a chosen understand what I'm going thorough, There's no reason for me to face you either if I'm really just someone who want a peaceful, slow life that I can enjoy...
Yet here I am anyway. I guess I'm really an idiot," Ryouta chuckled. "...But I believe that this is right. I don't believe in [complete evil]. We're in opposition simply because we stand in different side of scale. I don't think you, Demon Lord's, existence are unnecessary. That includes you, Lady Leviamon. Digital World might hate you because something you can't even control... but yet that is what are being with emotions are. They hate what brings them sadness, and loves what brings them happiness... But again, I neither believe you're unnecessary, nor you must be destroyed."

Zachary was concerned with the more willing attitude that Amelie was taking with the disembodied voice of Leviamon. Sure she sounded 'wounded' and 'poor', but demon lords were notoriously deceptive, or so he heard. While he was willing to negotiate with other people more often than not, the fact they had a whole campain to try and corrupt the digital world made it sound more like they had their own agenda and didn't care about who they hurt. Even if one or another had disagreements. Either way, Zachary had joined the team inside the train and listened as events unfolded.
"Amelie, should we really consider this? I admit its tempting but isn't this how demon lords influence people?" he asked her, worried if giving her any kind of deal would be leverage against them. "Besides, disembodied voices are not exactly trust worthy if they will not show their faces."
His opinions were however , shifted a bit by how Leviamon went on to explain her situation and her opinion of the other Demon Lords. Out of them, she did seem to have a shorter end of the stick, and wanted her fortunes to change, just like anyone else. It was hard to not feel bad for her after that, but still, Zachary tried to keep his mind on the fact that her influence caused more harm than good, especially for Gesomon and the Swimmon they met.
However, Zachary felt an unsettling preseonce on him when Leviamon brought her attention to HIM. Even if briefly, it sent a chill up his spine. Mytholomon, on the cushons of the train car reacted too by raising his head. It then came screaming back to him that Leviamon was indeed a voice he heard when he was on that mountain. While her logic was sound to have her 'offer' heard, she did well to poke at the insecurity Zachary was having by calling him a 'little errand boy' and the others more competent.
Zachary jolted up from his seat in anger. "HEY!!" Zachary shouted, "I'm just as capable if not better than--" Zachary stopped himself, realizing that was the last thing he should be responding to. His gaze went from the 'ceiling' of the disembodied voice, to the others around him, clearly showing how that got under his skin. He heard the 'snort', that came from Ryouta. His gaze settled on him, and while he had considered him a friend, he was starting to severely dislike him for what happened before how he scolded him, and insulted him.
A sigh of a deep breath escaped Zachary as he tried to calm down. In the end, she wanted a better home, or so she claimed. He glanced to Amelie, knowing she was the more reasonable one, and one that Zachary actually looked up to among the group. He glanced back up to the ceiling, hearing the voice ask about home. "Presuming you mean what you say, what is to guarantee you will uphold your end of the bargain and not stab us in the back afterward? As I said, its hard to trust a disembodied voice alone."
Ryouta was the first to answer the question about a home. Zachary rolled his eyes at how long-winded it was. But in their own ways, parts of it were true. Ryouta seems to have some idea how it was to be an outsider and a exile among our own home. The part about being called an idiot made Zachary smirk a bit, and lessen the hold of envy in his heart that he could be somewhat humble than as grandiose as he acted. Even his time in his apartment felt lonely and stifling, the last place he would consider a 'home'. Home was were the heart was, after all.
And to answer her question, they have two homes. Why. So Zachary gave an honest and truthful answer. "Home isn't about the places where you are, or where you sleep. Even that can be stifling. Home isn't a place, its wherever the people are that you care and love for. Friends, family, anywhere where you are welcomed and you welcome them in return. So it begs the question, can you be more hospitable and caring for those in your domain?" he asked.
In the end, Zachary had been alone in Tokyo and felt alone since his parents were abroad. Thanks to Digimon, he got to meet more people, including his partner. This world was the home to many of his new friends, as were to other Tamers. "And we would defend the homes of our friends as well, even if it isn't our world. That's all there is to it. And as much as I hate to admit it... Ryouta is right. And if you too can show value and care about those who are around you, then perhaps there is room for me to trust you. "
Mytholomon remained quiet and listened. He knew that Zachary's emotional state right now was fragile, and that could make things problematic, but it seemed he was doing well to try and resist it. Demon Lords had the ability to take advantage of emotional states of Digimon. Could the same be said for humans too? But if Leviamon was indeed not as evil as she sounded, even their was reason to hope.

A somewhat irreverent shrug was Amelie's reaction at least to Leviamon's initial statement. "Leave is kind of a subjective statement, y'know?" Maybe the demon beast was just playing with them, but one could infer at plain sight that things didn't quite work like that. "I thought that the way of the powerful was to take what you deserve. Sorry to break it for you, but if you're not powerful enough to take it from somebody else's hands, chances are that you didn't deserve it in the first place, or that you're not interested in such a thing. But, judging from your words, that doesn't seem to be true, does it? But I guess I'm just paraphrasing my first mate just said, albeit less eloquently."
Zachary's statement found its intended target while Ryouta decided to begin a long-winded speech. The brunette's right index moved to her chin as she adopted a pensive expression. What a complex question, in all honesty. "Politics aren't black and white, Zachary. I don't know how much experience you have regarding this kind of topic, but I can tell you this much; good and evil are constructs that hold little to no practical value. It's all about interests, goals, and whether means to acquire have a cost you're willing to pay. Sure, some might be more or less morally sound than others, but when the victors write history, does it really matter?" Another shrug served to end that sentence. "I've seen things that most people would dub as atrocities at the very heart of the city of angels, fueled by something as primitive as mere prejudice, of all things. If that's what angels do, one would just have to wonder if demons are really that bad, y'know? Which granted, they may, but I wouldn't be dismissive of what someone might have to say without at the very least hearing it first; else you're just perpetuating that very vicious circle. Is that what you really want to do?"
She made a slight pause before referring to the croc again. "Pity this conversation has to be carried out like this then; it could've been a lot more pleasant if you could move elsewhere; being a prisoner sounds like no fun at all. If you wish for it to remain secret then, so be it."
The young woman took a seat after Leviamon uttered her last question. She seemed deep in thought as both Zachary and Ryouta elaborated their answers. Once both had said their pieces. "Technicalities and idealism aside, I guess that the most fitting response is... 'why is that surprising?'. Sure, it sucks to get a question answered by another question, but I find little meaning on that question, especially when the same can apply to digimons. Just like humans can adapt to life in the Digital World if they want, Digimons can adapt to life in the Human World if they so desire. If you weren't in the place you fancy as prison, we could even have tea in my apartment and everything. I could even take you to meet Real World crocodiles; that'd be kinda cool, don't you think?"
She made a small pause before asking her next question. "What was the point of that question, by the way? Seemed kinda weird."

Power? Perhaps. Yet what do I have to gain from this?
Leviamon let the question hang, just for a second, before continuing. Whatever actions my brethren take, they do so for their own benefit, she explained. Catharsis. Pleasure. Influence. Resources. When Daemon reduces a city to dust, he does so to build a grand monolith atop it. When Lilithmon plays with the heartstrings of her admirers, she does it to secure a position for herself in the world among them. Even Belphemon, simple and single-minded as he may be, finds purpose in his actions. He remains in a blissful sleep, all while the world around him suffers.
Perhaps I take your advice. Perhaps I choke the seas between my coils without a shred of mercy. Perhaps I let the cities dependent on them stagnate and starve, pleading me for release. Perhaps I smash Elysium back beneath the waves before it can even find its footing. What do I stand to gain from this? The weakened shores of the Digital World would not be mine to plunder, but my brethren's to steal. They could not offer me tribute, for they do not know of where I am or even who I am. And even if I were to get it, what would I use it for? I would simply hoard it, reduced to Barbamon's mirror without a choice in the matter. And I could not even find satisfaction in the destruction I cause. My claws would remain untested, my fangs empty. It would be my victory, but a hollow one.
Zachary offered an alternative. Kindness. That got a scoffing laugh from Leviamon. Many cycles ago, when the Demon Lords walked the earth as one, I tried to be kind to them, she said, voice harsh as the ice on the ground below. They stabbed me in the back, seized my power, and cast me away. It was only a matter of time before their ambitions fell upon one another, but I? I was first. I show them the kindness they deserve. Just as I show the short-sighted Digimon of the seas the same. You see how quickly they turn upon one another when the slightest pressure is applied. I know where their hearts truly lie. Why would I ever show them what they refuse to show one another, let alone myself?
Amelie brought the conversation back to terms that Leviamon understood. Were I not locked beneath the depths, I would take back what is mine in force. I would crush the others before they even knew I had returned, Leviamon snarled. Yet to be constrained to the abyss is the inevitable fate of my kind. The cold, the darkness. All that I've brought to your surface is but a fraction of where I've been, lifetime after lifetime. We all sink down here. And each thrash, each attempt to seize upon that opportunity, only brings us deeper.
It seemed the men of the group, initially resistant to her offering, were now beginning to consider it. First, the elephant in the room. We have a common enemy. Were I to cross you, I would have two enemies. And while my brethren are content to play the long game, I know your kind takes poorly to being slighted. It would simply be foolish to even consider a betrayal, Leviamon said. I know ours is a temporary alliance. You will tire of my presence. And I? Well, you know of my title already. Eventually, we will need to settle this. I simply wish, in victory or defeat, that I may say I was the last one standing.
As for my aid? Look around you. The view from Ilbert's windows had started darkening since Leviamon had started to speak. Perhaps it was, as she mentioned, the darkness that her realm was accustomed to. However, after a few moments it started to look almost inky, swirling in and around itself like several cups of black paint. As if on cue the darkness opened its eyes: dozens of Shademon were surrounding Ilbert, amassed into a single form. I will offer to your aid my eyes and ears. They may not look like much, but they are my tether to the world above the depths. They, along with any that heed my call, shall make up the majority of my forces.
Her points made, she simply sat back and listened. The humans had quite a bit to say about that last question. Ryouta spoke of hard-nosed practicality, confused yet determined. Zachary spoke of idealism and altruism, carried onward by his heart. And Amelie? She simply spoke of objectivity. The world was their home because it was their home. She was also the only one to call out the strangeness of Leviamon's question, although she was only met with silence in response. It was only after a long pause that Leviamon spoke up again. Curiosity, I suppose. In more ways than one, we are worlds apart, she said, a hint of uncertainty behind her voice.

How very... troubling. Looks like Leviamon have problems about other Demon Lords, and... well, that's all her focus. She's like a bullied sibling perhaps? A forgotten one on top of it. She doesn't seem to want to cause unnecessary chaos... other than to defend herself. Technically, she's true in the fact that rattle too many boxes with unknown thing inside, she'll eventually get nasty surprise from inside of it...
Self-righteous people, basically. He's probably one of those, ha. However at least he's not as bad has he was in the past.
Speaking of which,... kindness probably wouldn't work either considering how close is "Envy" to "Malice" on spectrum of emotions. Could someone who's jealous of another give anything positive? Sometimes he felt like some people kept envious people around only because it felt good to be envied on... As for him though? He loathes it. After the glare at his direction, Ryouta simply stared back at the younger boy... yet there's no emotion on his stare, just hard, cold stare. That has stopped being funny to the eighteen years old. He reclined his chair with a long sigh.
"I mean if you think you're better than me, then you're free to exit Ilbert. If you think you're better than Miss Saboro, you're free to leave the group, up to you," Ryouta told Zachary and Panthermon, tone level as if it's someone else's problem. For extra emphasis, he simply shrugged. If one think one's that amazing, then go on ahead? But don't expect him to work together with person who voiced their ego without understanding their own weakness. For a while now Ryouta obviously aware of the younger one's hostility to him, but what can he do? After all these level of fooling around especially in dominion of a demon lord, Ryouta pretty much just frankly quite done with it.
"Miss Saboro, I'll leave the decision to you. As long as she's not touching Ys, KIZNA is neutral, or at least not super opposed to her presence. If you feel we benefit more with this alliance, even though certainly we'll get ire of Ofanimon in return, then so be it. However..."
Ryouta looked up again. "Say, Madame Leviamon... I heard that you took things from Gesomon and the Swimmons... I'd like to discuss what does it cost for you to return the sea back to normal. I have promised them that I'll try to return the sea back to normal. I'd like to stay true to my words."
Envy only can be lessened with altruistic selfishness... If everyone flourishes, then there's no need of being envious of what another have. The other side of that same coin would be obviously stealing, depriving people of what they own. Granted, "we flourish together" is a very hard thing to do. But in Ryouta's mind, he at least could try to talk with the demon of the depth.
Curiosity?
..."Do you wish to be free of your shackle--not of that prison-- but of your role of the being of concentrated envy?" Ryouta asked.

Amelie's statement sort of made Zachary pause as she made a very good point not to judge so 'black and white'. He knew for a fact nothing was ever that simple, but demon lords who drew power from the seven deadly sins of man-- known vices that drove people to do rather deplorable things-- was hard to get past. Her argument was very clear, and it made Zachary think a bit clearer past his own envy and that was slowly ebbing off him.
"She's right you know, Zachary," Panthermon's voice chimed in as he sat comfey on the cushoned seat of the train car. The giant winged panther kneaded his paws on apolstry, which probably the Grandlocomon, or Ryouta probably woudln't like. But he was a cat. THat is what cat's do. "Don't forget many would judge me quickly cause I am a nightmare soldier, and I defend people from the darkness. Maybe... just maybe... we should broaden our minds to this."
Though the laugh from Leviamon at Zachary's responce made him a bit bitter, he allowed himself to be a bit less jaded. She was qucik to exclaim how her kindness was answered with betrayl. THAT Zachary knew far too well. He was beginning to sympathize with the demon lord, for better or worse. "Look, you treat others the way you wan't to be treated. That never changes. I cannot speak for your siblings, but if that is how they treat you... then they are not worth the loyalty. I'll admit, I might of been quick to judge and I am sorry. If anything, I should know better and hear you out. I will be willing to negotiate with you and the angels... but you need to call off your forces. No more minions attacking other digimon in the ocean. Can you do that? " he asked.
Ryouta's reply however, struck a nerve. While Zachary hadn't said anything, Ryouta certainly gave voice to Zachary's spite. Mytholomon, was the more level-headed one next to Zachary's feelings. He couldn't care what Ryouta thought, but what irked Zachary was his attitude. There were choice words Zachary would say to Ryouta now... but he choose against it.
However-- it was then that the 'eyes' came into view and what was once night-- became Shademon. Zachary screamed at the sight of it and jumped out of his seat. Mytholomon too growled and his fur stood up. THe wings on his back flared, signaling his agitation to the dark digimon that was before them.
"What the hell is that?!" Zachary gasped, a bit frightened by the shademon. Even as it was explained, Zachary had now got a grasp how Leviamon was able to be aware of them. She had a 'spy' in the shadow. Revealing it, for starters, was a good start to trust.
But Zachary's opinion was clear. If Leviamon was willing to stop her more hostile activities on the sea, including her minions, he would extend a measure of trust and try to help her. Even Demon Lords had disagreements it seems.

The group had reached an interesting crossroads for now. Leviamon was posing an interesting deal, and that brought the brunette to consider. A lone finger was brought to her chin as she considering the entire situation. She nodded to Ryouta, and after a bit, she finally spoke. For the moment, both him and Zachary would have to excuse her. Negotiating with what was probably a millennia-older being would probably take every bit of the girl's brainpower.
"I honestly don't understand the lot of you. The 'Demon Lords' kind, I mean." She said, referring to Leviamon. "You guys are hella powerful, and have the resources to be a force of change in more than one way, but even then... you're end up squabbling over the pettiest things when you all could be so much more instead of just getting randomly killed/jailed every now and then. It's almost a tragedy to see so much wasted potential over there, especially when seen from the perspective of an human. I swear I'll never understand your motivations, but... I guess I digress."
She made a pause, taking a sip from the peach juice she had procured from Ilbert's bar some time before. "Inflexibility never brought anyone very far, but I guess that even if we have some irreconcileable differences, there's some common ground for us to work together; that much is good. I'll be clear here; I want to be conscious of any and all clauses of this agreement of mutual cooperation, and I'm not accepting at all unless it involves a complete ceasefire of hostilities between your forces and the lawful inhabitants of the Digital World, self-defense nonwithstanding. Of course, that implies that you have to bring Ophanimon and her crew back to us; if possible, and preferably unharmed."
After a small sigh, she smiled. "Are these points fair to you? If so, we can began to negotiate at any moment now. If I could, I'd offer you some of this peach juice as a sign of goodwill; it's delicious."
Would that be good enough? Hopefully.

The only thing strong enough to threaten a Demon Lord is another Demon Lord, Leviamon explained. Or, at least. Such is what we believe. To work among our own is to show the greatest threats to our own security our backs. All it would take is a single Demon Lord's actions to throw our fragile balance out of alignment, sacrificing our greater good for his own gain. And all it costs is the weakest link of the chain.
None of us want to be the weak link. And so, none of us allow the opportunity to present itself.
That isn't to say your plan falls on deaf ears. Daemon has tried to organize us into a single force. Yet this, too, is no allegiance. It is simply submitting ourselves to the power he covets. Some of my brothers resent this, and seek to undermine him from the shadows. Some simply disregard him, and hope if the raise chaos in his general direction he'll leave them alone. And Daemon himself, I'm sure, would be pleased as punch if he could cut us out of the deal entirely. We need each other. Yet we can't wait to undermine each other. Such is the cycle we are imprisoned within.
The humans didn't quite operate like that. In fact, all of these humans immediately gravitated towards doing no harm. Ryouta wanted her to turn the seas back to normal. Zachary wanted her to call back her forces. And Amelie wanted a complete cease-fire drawn. Leviamon was quiet for a second, but it wasn't long before a response slithered through the minds of those assembled. I will be sure not to antagonize those who mean me no harm, she finally said. Yet any who make their presence unwelcome in my territory will be dealt with swiftly and brutally. I will not disband what little forces I have, but I will keep them exclusively towards me and mine. I will spare the coastlines, and return my holdings in the shallow seas, but the deepest oceans will remain my domain. And to plot behind my back, or come looking for way in any, shape, or form, will have me well within my rights to break my vows in turn.
Such are my concessions. Do with them as you wish.
With concessions like this made, it seemed nothing could make Envy stop talking. Yet Ryouta's words stopped her in her tracks. As he asked his question, she fell so silent that her presence seemed to retract from everyone's minds. Then it came back in force, her barking laughing practically echoing across Ilbert's walls. You truly know little, don't you? she asked. Eventually, this vessel will be freed. As I fall, its egg will rise from the depths, bobbing at the surface of a brand new life. Yet I? I will remain down here, waiting for another host to call my on. And they, too, shall join me in the depths. I am them, and they are me, and such are we, until the cycle begins a new.
I am not just the imprisoned. I am the prison itself. How would you set that free?
It was perfectly melodramatic of a note to end things on. Yet Leviamon had one last point to address. Namely, Amelie pointed out a rather familiar name. Ophanimon? Is she here? Leviamon asked. I've neither seen or heard of such a thing. Frankly, I've had much bigger concerns than a single angel's snooping. Why do you ask? Is she with you? The bafflement in her voice was genuine, and frankly up until this point Leviamon has either been a terrible or amazing actor. Yet Ryouta's communicator kept beeping its message, each sending more rapid than the last:
S.O.S.

"What a strange system," Ryouta commented frankly. But then again, he guess that's how the system was... flawed, and in turn self predating. The only reason why the Royal Knights or whichever party has yet to act is probably because how disjointed the demon lord's teamwork is. Will they ever work together? Part of Ryouta feared it greatly, but even so...
"Though I can understand where do you come from. I guess it's no different than politics in the end."
Hmmm, either way the point that she raised are fine. Ryouta nodded at Amelie. That's good enough for him. However, it's interesting that she herself saw her shape as a prison... considering there are so many demon lord wannabes that seem to be keen to be a new Demon Lord themselves, Ryouta... honestly have no idea why the fact they want to be one if they're going to be part of this sort of system. A prison, she called it, yet those hopefuls seem to be in opinion that the prestige that came with this self suffering system is more than worth it? Ryouta took off his mask which doubles as a voice changer.
"....By breaking that system down," Ryouta answered. "Your existence is like an aggregation of all Envy.... then one of the possible way is to either dismantle the system itself, or perhaps to distribute that power enough so there won't be any "the demon lord" so to say, so you're out of that prison and yet not strong enough to cause mayhem that would make other greater power acts... although honestly even if I say that, I still have no idea how to. Indeed I know little, but even then... you called this system "prison"... it made me think
There are so many Digimons who seem to think that Demon Lord come with prestige. There are those who just think by taking that mantle they'll keep their own ego... but considering what you said, it's almost as if their own ego is mixed with their own predecessors, trapped in this system. is that suffering worth it? Is being target of prejudice that worth it? I have no idea, and I can't say, because I'm just a mere human who doesn't understand a viewpoint of a Digimon. We're so structurally different after all. Lifespan, how we live, not to mention our own cycle of life. But even then, I feel... everyone have right to be happy, in positive way... in a sense that they don't maliciously take something from anyone.
....there's indeed a whole benefit of a system called 'sin' and 'suffering'. Everyone only feel truly alive when they feel both suffering and happiness. Suffering exist so happiness could be more sweet, but... For someone who's trapped as the icon of sin forever... what should they even be thankful of? What should they even be happy about if they can't do thing in malicious way, to sate the sin they represent? For me who is a human, that... is absurdly lonely... and binding even."
There's no time to waste.
"Ilbert, I'm sorry to push you harder but please hurry up. Valt, keep looking, we're running out of time."
"That wouldn't be a problem, master."
"On it," Valt's voice came out from the communicator.

Zachary was unnerved by the creeping shadow, but soon recovered. He had confidence in Amelie, and her viewpoint. Out of all of them, Zachary felt she was the one with the best grasp and control of the situation. Despite him and Ryouta butting heads in their predicament, they were able to stay somewhat calm. Mytholomon, of course was as cool as a cucumber. They all had good points and demands for Leviamon to earn their trust-- all of which to help prevent any loss of life or corruption. Leviamon, however, had her reasons too. Zachary had anticipated a dangerous battle but instead it became a diplomatic mission. Not that he could complain as he would imagine fighting the ocean demon lord would be next to impossible, especially with Mytholomon's limits as he was now.
Then the conversation grew darker as Ryouta stepped on a nerve of Leviamon. "Big surprise," Zachary murmered at the start of Levia explaining how she could reincarnate and inhabit new vessels. So the theory Zachary and Mytholomon thoguht was true. Demon Lords were eternal, much like certain other aspect digimon. To destroy them was only a temporary fix, as they were embodiment of data over eternal concepts. One cannot remove sin as if one wanted to stop breathing.
The mention of Ophanimon wasn't smart in Zachary's opinion. She was suppose to be in disguise and secret. His eyes widened as he looked to to the signal beeping but more importantly, they shouldn't have been outing her while she was hidden on the other ship. He said nothing but gazed at the other two on his team, hoping they would get the hint to not show their hand. If in the worst case that Leviamon was indeed a bold-faced liar, how her interest was there and her change in tone. He couldn't afford to let them give their position so Zachary hoped Amelie would sensed his non-verbal hint to not speak anymore about her.
They sped forward on the train towards the signal of the S.O.S. He could only hope what the emergency was, they wouldn't be too late...
