At first the Keramon treats the human and his partner as the duo that just in here to get some thrill. But their demeanor and the gestures are not quite the same with those of the pure thrill seekers. People who have serious work ethics can be seen in a glance, despite being so relaxed about it. Yep, Higgs will have a good company for this mission. Maybe he could skip his part and let them do the job?
"I don't know if you have anything against my hometown, but i used to live in Dark Area."
As they reached where the buff and tough Gazimon appears and complaining about how long he has to wait, Higgs said and asked nothing. He'll just stand there wait until he was given an extra coat, a hard hat, and a shovel. Eventhough he already have his Wisemon coat, an extra layer of protection won't hurt.
"Do i get the Ace position by having this? I mean, Ace of Spades. Okay, pardon for the lame joke, but i think i can take the front, if you guys don't mind."
As Higgs examined the sturdiness of the shovel and how good its durability by knocking it a few times on the ground, Higgs felt he's good with this shovel. Ready to dig some dirt or whack someone with the shovel. Not to mention that shovel is a bit more versatile compared to the blunt hammer or pickaxe that is too sharp and pointy.
"No," Ziggy answered sharply to Higgs' suggestion that he takes the front. "I'll be on the front. Our path ahead is treacherous. I don't care if you're Ultimate-able or not. No one get needlessly injured while I'm guiding, that's for sure. Get back to the sides. I also need someone to defend the human. No offense, but I don't think I have the reflex needed to save you from possible surprises when I'm already focusing on finding which route should we take. Anyway, let's go."
....And so they pressed on. The pathway at the moment is very standard... it's just a sewer, after all. "Watch your steps," Ziggy's voice echoed "it's slippery. We might cleaned the sewer now and then but before our routine monthly clean up, this shit happened... There are reports of mosses growing too, weird as that sounded considered pretty sure we sent Numemons down here to clean those..."
He looked around, making sure there are no danger.
"...Human, make sure to update Freddie with our current status when I told you. If I raise my left paw, that's the signal. If I give you one finger, do it with whisper instead, got it?"
And his head slowly turning around, looking at the east end of the long corridor to the west.
"....This is eerily quiet, even for Terminus sewers," he muttered. And what worse, the smell has mixed with the scent of the uncleaned sewers...
"...We'll have to go ahead to that part," Ziggy pointed at an end. "over there is where the sluice gate is. We need to dry out some part of the sewers before we can get a shortcut to Tenebrous... But we're not heading there...
"Ooh, no, no, we have nothing against your hometown," said Levi, beaming at the mention of the Dark Area, "far from it! My boyfriend used to live there before surviving what was probably an attempt at drowning him..." The little dragon would note his human partner's current demeanor, as he was somewhat nervously glancing back and forth between Ziggy and him. It was a look that meant he wasn't quite sure if Ziggy would be okay with all the banter. Ah, well, the Veemon supposed mouthing off on a prideful tangent about one's significant other was generally seen as a move in bad taste, regardless of the situation. He couldn't think of a good follow-up to Higgs's shovel pun anyway. The Jack of Hammers? Naw.
The Gazimon would then continue to issue orders to those present. They would need someone to defend Alan, and clearly, there was only one mon for the job.
"I can do that!" said Levi, holding his hammer aloft. "I'm no good at sparring, but I can hold my own in a real fight! ...Uh, don't ask."
"Oh, and, none taken." Alan would say this to reassure himself that he took no offense at Ziggy's statement, though it was clear to him it was just another drop in the bucket of offense the boy took from his own defenselessness as a human. "You can count on me for those status updates."
After listening to Ziggy's spiel on recent events, they would hear the Gazimon trail off when mentioning something regarding their destination. "Oh?" Levi had to ask, "Does the shortcut lead somewhere else, too?"
Higgs has his face twitched upon hearing the word boyfriend came out from the Veemon's words. To be specific, he was raising his brows that are like doodles scribbled on his face with permanent marker. Gladly his wide permanent smile helped at this time. It's really awkward to touch such subject. To be specific, the matter of sexuality. It's not like Higgs is hating humans and mons who attracted to same sex and gender. But as a mon with a thought process of ones should be paired with zeroes, and plugs with sockets, he just find the idea a bit awkward. Although, still fascinates him somewhat. It's wise to not prod this further. They have more important thing up ahead, and asking the Veemon about sexuality is just weird at this time.
The drowning part isn't that fascinating though.
"Oh, i think i kind of understand. I guess we should just focus on mission for now."
And that's where the Gazimon rejected the cloaked Keramon's suggestion. He got a point, and it's fair. Higgs is not well-versed in navigating sewers, should've left that job to someone that have more capability than him. Besides, there's no other ones suitable from that job aside from Ziggy. So Higgs politely backs down and focus on his job as the Ace of Spades.
"You have a fair point there. Sorry for getting too excited over this."
As they walk further, the party discovered that the end of the tunnel, and a shortcut. But the way Ziggy words it, he seemed wary that the shortcut is might be not like how it used to be. Perhaps this is the part where there's no turning back.
"Let me guess, this shortcut is like a tree. Pardon my paraphrasing but you know what i mean by that, Ziggy. Sewage system is awfully similar to a network, if you ask me."
