Instant Crush [Jazz/V-Day]

There had been a lot of things that Anzu had been studying over the past month. Preparing. There were a number of words one could use for it, but the point was that Anzu had been…laboring, to put it simply. She asked Jazz if she wanted to go on a date a while ago, and she felt like now was the best time to cash in on that. So, to ensure she was able to devote 100% of herself to this?
She asked Amelie to go handle her tamer for the day. Yeah. That’s how you make sure someone has something to do while you’re out, isn’t it? Especially after everything. Anzu departed the house early in the morning and headed for northern Shibuya, sending a message to Jazz to meet her there when she was able to.
The street she was waiting at was just a block away from a fancy restaurant (it wasn't actually that fancy, but Anzu had eaten there before and enjoyed it, so she figured it'd be a nice place to stop by again), and had a number of actual humans trailing down it. Right, this month was important to the humans, wasn't it?
The bean had disguised herself as a pink haired human that looked significantly less androgynous than her previous holosuit had been, and was waiting, seated upon a bench and keeping watch for Jazz. Even with all this preparation, she couldn't really help but feel...nervous about this?
She didn't want to mess up. Didn't want this to end up like anything set up by Amy. A reasonable fear. It was just a matter of waiting and hoping that Jazz didn't get lost. Actually, shoot, she should message her to see if she got lost. So, yeah. If Jazz did show up? She'd probably find a girl sitting alone on a bench with a D-Terminal. Far different than the holosuit Anzu usually had on.
Sooooo...Where was the Lopmon?

SECOND ARC.
CHAPTER I: WINTER DAYS
Episode 4-I: The door of possibilities! Fill the Heart Lockets! Taking the Locket she was supposed to fill to help Alissa recover immediately was a “leave it all to me” kind of move, wasn’t it? Should she really have done that? She knew she had a date pending with Anzu when she did it but… Ugh. Why in the world had she started having doubts right now? Did Anzu even really like her? This was the kind of trouble Arianna would get herself in! How could she have gotten involved in all of this? With a firm shake of her head, the brown-haired girl sent these worries off and tried to focus on her task. Wearing her holosuit, and trying to pay a lot of attention to every sign and the map on her D-Terminal, Jazz kept walking down the street. Ugh. UGH! Shouldn’t this be the right place? Then… why couldn’t she see Anzu anywhere? Maybe the nervous mess she was right now had made her get the wrong address. That would be terrible! She didn’t want to make her friend wait. Especially not in a moment like this. A sigh escaped the holosuited Lopmon before she went to look at her map again. They said they were supposed to meet at this street, didn’t they? She looked to both sides, studying the entirety of the avenue. It was at that moment that her D-Terminal beeped, notifying she had a new message. Could it be Anzu? Ugh! She was already late, wasn’t she? The bean, on her side, would actually listen to her own message being delivered. She could hear Jazz’s D-Terminal beeping! All along, the Lopmon had not been too far from her best friend and rival. It was just that she couldn’t recognize her with those new looks!

Cold feet. Plural. A loss of nerve, a surge of doubts. Whether either of the girls knew it or not, this was something a lot of people suffered. Though, Jazz was focused on trying to find Anzu. Anzu? She had been waiting here. For a bit. And she would continue to wait here, as long as she had to.
That's...That's what you did usually, right? A slightly distressed noise escaped the holosuited Tsukaimon's mouth. This was a lot of stress. No wonder Akemi liked this dating bullshit so much.
She legitimately thought she had been stood up for all of five seconds before she heard a D-Terminal beep. Looking to the source of the beep...She saw Jazz. Jazz was right there. But...Did the Lopmon even recognize her? She glanced down at herself. Good thing Jazz wasn't actually that far from her.
...
Well, the Lopmon wasn't about to recognize her anytime soon. She had to take matters into her own distinctly-more-capable-than-most-fucking-morons hands. The holosuited bean took a few steps towards Jazz, before she calmly tapped her on the shoulder. "Jaaaaazz~" She began, seeming quite elated to see her. "It's me." She whispered. "How do I look? I got a new holosuit and thought this would...be a nice place to bust it out. Do you like it...?" Then she wasn't whispering.
...Oh, right, was it ever mentioned that Anzu was actually blushing a bit? Because she was.

While Jazz got ready to somehow explain to her best friend that she had gotten lost in her way to their meeting place because she was SO DUMB OH MY G--- Her worries suddenly changed directions when she received a tap on her shoulder. The brunette flinched immediately before turning to see… a girl she had never seen before! But it turned out to be… Anzu!?
“Anzu! Is that… you?” Even if ‘It’s me’ was probably not the best description, Jazz was quite smart okay!? She could put 2 and 2 together. Actually, her expression began to turn into a smile while the rest of the holosuited bean’s sentence confirmed it was her! A smile that… quickly turned into a disheveled countenance! “I… thought I had the wrong place! And then I thought I would get late to the right place! And then I thought you would get mad at me! And then I thought I was so dumb for picking up the wrong directions! And then I thought it was Kath’s fault for never letting me go out on my own and th-“
While the Lopmon went on and on, Anzu was just standing there, waiting for an answer to her question while looking slightly blushed and immensely cute. Slowly, Jazz slowed down on her words and just… went back to smiling. “You look… very pretty.” She admitted, blushing a bit too. “… I’m sorry.” She whispered, letting out a sigh.
This was why she liked Anzu in the end, wasn’t it? The bean could always find a way of bringing peace to her heart, even if she wasn’t deliberately trying to.
Would she be able to do the same? Could she actually bring any kind of similar sensation to her superior? She had a Locket to fill and an amalgam of sentiments to settle, and that was no overstatement.
“What are we doing today, again? You said you had something in mind, didn’t you?”

One nod. That was all Anzu gave in response to that question. Was the bean so nervous that speech was...actually difficult for her at the moment? For right now? Yeah. Words did not form from her mouth even if she wanted that to be the case. Plus, Jazz...did just launch into a rather disheveled tangent about what had happened. She thought she had gone to the wrong place which in turn would have led to a whole lot of other stuff that Anzu could only assume was, well...Bad.
If it were the case at all, that is. All this instead of answering her question. She knew she was heard at the very least, so...an answer would come. In time, the Lopmon's tangent slowed to a pause. Okay, what...do you usually do when someone's in distress? Or looked to be in distress?
Anzu took a step closer and pulled Jazz into a hug. "It's fine." She whispered. "Everything will be fine. You're at the right place and I'm not mad at you. And...And you're not dumb. Don't say that about yourself..."
...Shit, wasn't it too early to be doing that? Eh. Nobody could actually fault her for that. She just wanted to make sure Jazz was...calm. Calmer than she was at the very least. Anzu released the disguised Lopmon. "I think you look pretty too. Even more so today. Uh...I did have something in mind. Dinner at that restaurant over there, and then I managed to get a private bath at an onsen so we can relax for a bit of the evening. After that? It's anyone's guess. Um...Is that all okay with you? I realize I probably should've, you know...actually let you know about this stuff before you came here."
Anzu was not a clever girl sometimes. This might have been one of those times.

Oh gosh. Anzu was hugging her. Here! In the middle of the street! Was that okay?
… There probably wouldn’t be a situation where Jazz could find a problem with Anzu hugging her but… what if people stared?
Well… that didn’t matter now. Jazz had decided (or not) to hug her best friend back. “T-T-Thank you…” She barely managed to utter, becoming a stuttering mess for a moment. “I-I was just… a b-bit worried.”
In the end, if the holosuited bean was trying to make her calm, we could say that had worked and… at the same time, it hadn’t. Jazz had hugged Anzu many times before, why was her heart racing so much now? Why was she even… shaking? What were her feelings for Anzu turning into?
“That’s great.” She managed along with a nod, her two pigtails flopping when she tilted her head flattered. “I spent some time getting ready so… I’m glad you think so.” That confession came with a short giggle. Then, Jazz decided to listen closely to her peer, while she explained what she had planned for the day! It was a good thing that she had a plan already, even if not the Lopmon wouldn’t expect anything less from her Senpai.
Jazz firmly shook her head, dismissing Anzu’s worries. “I would be okay with pretty much anything. Besides, I’ve already gone to an onsen before, so it’s nothing super new for me. It sounds like a fun evening, honestly.” Gaining some confidence during the exchange, she showed another warm smile to her friend.
Slowly, Jazz turned to look at the street where the restaurant they were going to was located. It was actually quite close! That was good, she guessed. “How did you find this place? You even managed to get a reserve at an onsen…” The Lopmon mused, an innocent finger placed over her lower lip. “.. You really know your way around human society, don’t you? I could learn a lot from you, Anzu.”
That was an honest observation!
In any case! Shall they go? Or was it too early to get dinner yet?

While Anzu did think hugging Jazz in the middle of the street to calm her down was perfectly okay, as it turned out? That didn't calm HER OWN nerves in the slightest. It didn't help that Jazz hugged her back!
There was a part of Anzu that...craved that, in all sincerity. Physical affection like that. It was a reminder that she held some amount of...mortality? The digital equivalent of humanity? Let's go with that, yes.
"W-Well, all that time getting ready made you look stunning."
She was far too preoccupied with how she herself was...shaking to notice how Jazz was, too. Well, not the fact that Jazz was shaking. More the...the little things here. Like how springy her pigtails were, or how...warm her smile was.
...
The bean was really questioning what had become of her feelings towards her rival. She truly was. Luckily, she caught that Jazz didn't mind what she had picked out. "Y-You have? Good. I've...um. I've never been to one..." She quietly admitted. "...You'll show me how stuff works there, right?" Did Anzu genuinely sound nervous about that? She was the one who even got the reservation in the first place.
"Akemi's mother suggested a lot of these places to me. Heck, she even told me how to get that reserve, too. I don't know my way fully around humans yet, but I do know a lot still...I'd be happy to teach you." She gave the disguised Jazz a smile. "I bet you'd be the cutest student."
Anzu took a glance to the restaurant. It seemed to have a steady stream of people entering and exiting, so now seemed to be as good a time as ever to go and get some food. Anzu found her hand moving to take Jazz's as she led her into the restaurant.
Past the doors, the restaurant itself was...Actually not bad. The place was well-lit, cleaned up nicely, and it even smelled like food, too. Anzu went to go seat herself (with Jazz in tow,) and soon enough...A suspiciously familiar girl (to the readers, probably!) with pink hair and a suit came up to the table.
"Hi, welcome, welcome! Can I get you two anything to drink? We've got couples discounts going!"

Oh my…
Anzu didn’t just say that, did she? Did she say she look stunning!?
Only a couple of seconds after letting go of that hug, Jazz was met with this declaration, which immediately made her eyes go below, staring at her own index fingers while she played with them. Her cheeks? They got a bright rosier tone.
Why was she feeling flustered about Anzu praising her looks? Wasn’t that a very human thing to be flattered about? “T-That’s… so…” She stuttered all the way towards her next words, which were issued in a rather low tone of voice. “… t-thank you.”
Luckily, the next part of the conversation seemed to be fairly less embarrassing, which was something Jazz probably needed right now. How was she going to fill that locket while turning in an absolute mess by Anzy just telling her she looked good!? Jazz was asking herself the same thing, honestly.
“S-Sure. I think I remember how everything works.” It had honestly not been that long since she went to one so… “… Since you didn’t tell me before, I didn’t bring my swimsuit. S-So…. I’m going to have to be... n-n-naked… in there.” Why IN THE WORLD did she feel the need to clarifying that? Didn’t that make everything more embarrassing!?
Putting that to the side, it seemed like a good thing to learn from human society from Anzu! “And… I’m sure you’ll be a cute teacher.” Was Anzu hitting on her? Was she deliberately trying to make her blush? Considering what had happened back in Akemi’s place… that was a possibility, wasn’t it? The question remained… was the bean just having fun with her or… was she having real feelings towards Jazz?
Not like she had too much time to engage in these thoughts, though! The holosuited Lopmon was being pulled into the restaurant by Anzu!
“This is… very nice.” It seemed like Anzu had made the right choice. The environment was great and the food sure smelled good.
Upon being addressed by the waitress (a fan favorite, no doubt!), Jazz kind of… flinched at the word ‘couples’. “I mean… I-I…” Was she asking if they were a couple? They weren’t a couple, were they? Or did dating make you a couple? SHE WAS NERVOUS OKAY?
Instead of letting herself become another stuttering mess, Jazz decided to order a drink for her. Sure, that would help. “W-Well… it’s cold outside, so I think wine would be good.” If she had learned anything during this time in the Human World it was what to drink according to the weather!

Anzu was never the kind of girl to lie to someone's face. Well, she was, but...Not to Jazz. Never to Jazz, in fact. She genuinely did think the Lopmon's holosuit (and the Lopmon herself, at that) looked quite stunning. Especially today! Though she wasn't...sure why she thought it was especially apparent today. Especially apparent right now. Jazz's reaction did put a smile on Anzu's face. SHE WAS SO. CUTE. AAAAAAAGH.
"I...Uh..." She didn't pack a swimsuit. Oh god. That...was something she should've considered. "M-Me too." Anzu whispered. Why did ANZU of all people feel so...weird about telling Jazz this? Why did she even feel embarrassed about it? She could trust Jazz, right...?
She did manage to give Jazz a genuine smile, though. A smile at being called a cute teacher. Jazz called her cute! She loved that!
Within the restaurant, Anzu was not too sure how to regard being called a couple by the waitress. "Um...S-Sure!" To the drinks and the discounts! Thankfully, Jazz had something in mind to order before Anzu probably spent the next several minutes agonizing over a drink they'd both like.
Wait, WINE?! JAZZ of all people ordered wine? Anzu looked genuinely surprised by this! "Wine..." She repeated quietly to herself. "Alright! We've got red wine and white wine." The waitress decided to present them with another challenging question, but now that Anzu was alerted to the presence of alcohol in this establishment?
She knew exactly what to go for. "Red." The waitress gave a single nod, and turned away. One could swear they heard a squee from the lady as she walked away, along with a 'they're so cute!' Maybe, this waitress really enjoyed working today.
Whoever she was.
"Wine, huh...?" Anzu looked at Jazz with a rather...devious smirk forming on her face. "You're a woman after my own heart, you know that? I love wine! That was a good choice." There was red on Anzu's face, but she looked quite...sincere. Even sounded like it, too.

Whether Anzu’s poor memory and Jazz's ignorance about the activities this date involved was a good thing or not would have to be decided later. Right now, they were at the restaurant and other decisions had to be taken!
The discounts were good, right!? It’s not like Kath had given her too much money for this mission so she had to make the best out of it!
Wine was a romantic drink, wasn’t it? She had seen that in movies! She knew her stuff! So why not have that for a date? Besides, she had gotten the chance of drinking twice now (even if that was almost in another life), so she was quite used to the feeling! It sounded like a good plan in her head.
Posing a timid digit on her cheek, Jazz just stared at the waitress while they made their order. Then, her eyes drifted towards Anzu, who seemed quite sure about what type of wine to order.
Jazz wasn’t quite sure if the waitress actually meant them when she said that, but… huh. Were they cute? Kath had said they were but…
… the holosuited bunny was focused on asking something to her best friend right now. “Why are you so sure about red?” She asked, tilting her head. Did Anzu have a lot of experience in the wine department?
A timid, maybe-a-bit-flirty giggle escaped Jazz. “T-Thank you. I figured you would like it, even if I hadn’t had it much myself.” It was definitely a type of drink she could relate to the bean! “The other day I was watching a TV show about how stuff is made. They were talking about how they make wines and I thought it was really interesting.” At any given point, Anzu had to remember she had decided to fall in love with an undying curious, just like Katherine. So this type of conversation was… quite common for Jazz to have.
“I asked Kath if we could buy grapes after that.” The brunette mused. “She bought some for me. But…” Then, her eyes trailed down for a second. “… They were… Kyoho Grapes. She said they are not the same as the classical Western grapes. However, those seem to be hard to find in Japan.” A sigh. “I wonder what they taste like.”
Oh god. Was this the most boring conversation topic ever!? Anzu couldn’t care about this stuff, could she!?
“I-I’m sorry!” Jazz stated, blushing a little bit while looking down. She seemed to have gotten quite flustered. “I got carried away.” She admitted. “We can… talk about whatever you want to talk.”

Money was the last thing on Anzu's mind right now. With the discounts, which were hopefully generous, the girls would probably have a nice bit of funds remaining to enjoy tonight however they pleased. Speaking of enjoying? Anzu seemed pretty delighted with how ordering drinks went.
Then again, wine was involved, so of course Anzu would be happy with this. Hearing Jazz's giggle, however, elicited a blush! "Oh, um...It's actually the kind I prefer over white, really." She explained to Jazz, albeit a little timidly. Anzu hadn't been expecting a question like that. "It's also the kind I'm...most used to drinking." She admitted.
So, not that much experience. But still experience nonetheless. Of course, the conversation that followed was not something Anzu disliked. Quite the opposite, actually. Anzu figured she had fallen in love with someone like Katherine, so...she was prepared for this. But...She actually liked this conversation.
Anzu liked hearing this story. Hell, Anzu was pretty sure she liked hearing Jazz so much as speak. "That does sound quite interesting--I've never had much insight as to how wine is made outside of allowing the grapes to ferment...I've also never had human world wine, either."
She was, of course, sympathetic to Jazz's plight. "They aren't, no...But I do think they can be found. I bet they taste nice. Um...I'll see if I can't find some one day so we can eat them together, okay? And..." Anzu continued.
"It's fine. I..um. I like hearing you talk. Especially about the things that interest you." The disguised bean nodded a few times towards Jazz. She reached out over the table to offer her hand to the brunette. If it was taken, then Jazz would find her hand being squeezed by Anzu's!
"I think I'd like to talk about...Everything. I want to talk about everything with you." A pause. "But that'd...be too much, and we'd be here forever. Even if I want that. So...T-Tell me more about something you like."

Her eyes wide open, Jazz just stared at her date. Up until this point, she would have never imagined all of Anzu’s knowledge about wine was actually based on Digital World wine! That was quite shocking, actually. Not because it was odd, but because she honestly didn’t see it coming.
“I have never tasted Digital World wine.” She confessed. “I remember Koru stealing a bottle once in Rustport but… we never actually got to try it. We sold it to someone else. They are usually not very common in the West. Probably because the weather is too hot there.” The holosuited bunny mused about this with a digit on her lower lip. “Hopefully you can take me to have Digital World wine soon.”
It was a good thing Anzu provided some feedback on the topic they shared. It probably meant she was kind of interested? “Definitely! I hope you can find them.” A tender smile. They had booked a date to eat grapes now!
Jazz’s eyes drifted down to find Anzu’s hand over the table. She stared at it for one or two seconds before… extending her own. That was what she wanted, right? It wouldn’t be the first time that she held the bean’s hand… or paw. So she was perfectly fine with that. She squeezed it back. “T-That’s… good.” She admitted as a response to Anzu's comment.
Would the pink-haired girl now think she liked grapes as something in specific? Or was she aware of undying curiosity?
Considering the Tsukaimon and she had shared the same body, Jazz could assume this concept couldn’t be completely alien to her.
“Everything…” Jazz muttered, that blush in her cheeks reigniting while her eyes drifted elsewhere. THAT WAS SO CUTE.
Then? She just laughed. Anzu adding the impossibility of her original sentence being able to come true due to a technicality was… very funny. “You’re right.” The brunette admitted, timidly taking her hand to her mouth to shade her laugh.
That last part was met with a bit of silence. “… S-Something I like…” She muttered. Hmmm. “I like to… learn new stuff...” But Anzu probably knew that, didn’t she? “I’ve been especially interested in science lately. Katherine loves science too, so she and I get to exchange a lot of info about it.” However… there was something else.
“And…” She added. “…At the same time… the bond I share with everyone I know has also become very interesting to me. I guess it’s funny because it has nothing to do with science.” Or maybe it had? “Especially the bond I share with you.” Now, her eyes drifted towards Anzu. Those brown eyes fixed on her friend’s irises. “You… know that I’ve been wanting to find out what makes Minervamon so powerful. Where is that power coming from.”
A pause.
“I… guess that’s something that interests me lately.” That was probably the timidest whisper Jazz had issued today. Ugh. She had said too much, hadn’t she?
“W-What about you?” An honest question. “What do you like?”

There was something about Jazz as a whole that just kept...drawing Anzu in, further and further. Her eyes, her smile...Just about any characteristic of the Lopmon that could be mentioned seemed fascinating to Anzu for one reason or another. Of course, the fact the Lopmon came from a band of...sibling thieves(?) That was interesting.
Something Anzu didn't really know too much about Jazz. Sure, she could've delved into that when they were fused, but...There was no fun in it. There HAD BEEN no fun in that, rather. She wanted to learn everything about her on her own.
"I hope so too. I think you'd enjoy it. It's...an acquired taste, I'll admit, but...I'd love to share it with you." Anzu capped that sentence off with a fond smile towards Jazz. "And for you? I'd find anything." A pause. "...It'll take a bit, but I'll find them. I promise."
She was sure of that. While she didn't think Jazz liked grapes? She was all for sating curiosity.
Everything. Yes. It sounded corny to suggest, but...It made Jazz laugh. That, in turn, took a lot of willpower for Anzu not to just...squee loudly at. "Science, huh...? That makes sense. I know I dabble in magic a lot, but science as a subject's always fascinated me in a few regards."
Buuuut...
"Bonds might have nothing to do with science, but I'd also say there exists a science to bonds themselves. So...That also holds my interest. I want to know how strong bonds are, e-especially ours."
And yet, Jazz rescinded into timidity once more. That puzzled Anzu. She...she did make it clear she enjoyed Jazz so much as speaking...Right? It wasn't that big of a deal. She wanted this to be fun for her date. So, it was her turn to answer that question.
What...did she like?
"Well, I like geography, I like magic shows, sleeping, I like pastrami sandwiches...Buut...There's something I like more than...a-anything else in the world. Either world." Anzu started to stutter a bit.
She caught where her sentence was headed, and she wasn't...sure if she should say this now or not. Other chances may pop up, but the operative phrase here was 'may,' right? So what if she never got that chance?
"I guess it'd be more accurate to say someone than something. Um...What do I l-like, you ask...?" She took a deep breath.
"You. I like you."
There. She said it. Her face was red as a beet, but she finally said something she felt was the case since...day 1. How would Jazz take that...?

Upon facing something that was quite obvious, Jazz at least seemed to have some input about it. “You are especially good with magic. Even if I think magic can be studied through a science-related perspective, I have to admit both you and your magic are quite hard to predict.” The holosuited bunny mused about the bean’s usual attitude with a smile. “You just do what you feel like most of the times, don’t you?” And honestly? That was a quality she could admire about Anzu. Being unpredictable could give you an important advantage in many aspects of life!
Science of bonds. That made perfect sense. Moreover, Jazz was completely up for finding out more about the bond she and Anzu shared! “I’m eager to find out more about that too.” This time around, she honestly meant that. It was not even a flirty line nor was she thinking about this as a romantic bond. How the connection they shared seemed to have no limits was something that fascinated Jazz.
It was honestly hard for Jazz to believe she was not boring someone out with her silly talks about science and bonds and wine! Not that she didn’t trust Anzu. It was just that, so far, Katherine was the only person she had felt she could discuss that kind of stuff with at any given time. All of this was new to her. Could she really share her Undying Curiosity with Anzu to its maximum extent?
Anzu liked geography!? Wait… why was pastrami sandwiches in her top three? Too many questions! And too much fun. Jazz was just giggling at that last preference. Anzu was always so funny! She honestly made her laugh so much each time they were together. She would have to try pastrami sandwiches someday, if Anzu liked them that much!
Jazz’s giggle continued through the rest of Anzu’s next sentence. She was listening at her best friend just fine and paying full attention to her, she just couldn’t help but find funny what she had just said.
… Then, the holosuited Lopmon’s laugh interrupted itself abruptly when Anzu revealed the final thing… person… she liked. Jazz’s eyes just widened as she stared at her pink-haired friend. Suddenly, Jazz started blushing. Her cheeks got a rosier tone, very similar to the one that garnished Anzu’s.
“You like… me?” Her brown eyes escaped Anzu’s for a second while she just put her hands between her own thighs and pressed them timidly.
Unable to tell in what form Anzu meant that, and honestly not wanting to think about it being in the romantic way for too long (since that could make her faint in that same spot), Jazz came back with the simplest yet more honest reply she could deliver. “I… like you too” She said with a coy smile on her lips.

"Heheeee...I know I am. Of course, I wouldn't claim I'm the best girl I know with magic." Anzu replied with a rather...confident smirk on her face! Which probably looked odd with the blushing, let's be honest. "I-I do. Usually just...do what I feel like doing. Not here, though. I...I actually tried to plan here."
Was it working? That was anyone's guess. Regarding their bond, however, Anzu let out a giggle at that. "There's a lot more than just...being able to let us fuse behind this bond, isn't there? I wonder what we'll find out...." They'd learn. Oh, they would certainly learn over the coming months.
Speaking of learning, Anzu found out rather quickly that one, her interests seemed to amuse Jazz, and two, she had a strange fondness for the mere sound of the Lopmon giggling. It sounded rather melodic to her ears! Her cheeks somehow flushed even redder in slight embarrassment, but she didn't think there was anything malicious behind Jazz's giggling.
That was possibly why she decided to go with that final part of her sentence. She took a deep breath. "Yes. I like you in every sense of the word." Anzu began. "I like you, I like the things you do, I like the way you talk, the way you smile, the way you laugh..." Why, though?
Why did she like this one Lopmon so much? Over the course of...so many lifetimes, why did this one Lopmon stand out to her in such a way? Those few moments before Jazz gave her reply felt a lot longer than they honestly should have. So, it was a good deal of time for Anzu to just...sit there, simmering in dread and screaming internally. She couldn't even look at Jazz in those few moments, either.
The positive thing here was that Jazz only had to speak to wrench Anzu's focus away from her inner dread. And when she did?
I... like you too.
That genuinely surprised Anzu. She blinked once, her mouth opening as though she were going to utilize words, yet...None came out. She was silent. Completely so, with her face as red as a rose.
"...I-...Um. I like you a lot. I like the things you do, the way you talk, the way you smile, the way you laugh...Um...Why do you like me, though? I wasn't...I wasn't expecting that answer. Um...Sorry if I seem shocked..." She seemed like she liked the idea of Jazz liking her. But...why? What drove the Lopmon to that?
...Also, the waitress was back. She had glasses and a bottle of wine, but was silent out of respect for the two girls. Gosh, how awkward!
