At being offered the phial of fuel, Makoto would accept it; taking a second to look it over, and hold it up to the light that'd peek in through the canopy. "Handy little things; that all sounds quite convenient." Makoto would muse out loud, smiling a bit before they'd hand the phial back to Kitt. "You seem to have managing your own weapon down to a T, if you ask me, darling; and such a flashy sounding weapon, at that." Chuckling a little to themself, Makoto would mention "I mainly use throwing daggers and - as you saw before - war fans, as far as weapons go; both of which I conjure from shadows. Not quite as flashy, but being able to conjure and dismiss them at will makes them pretty convenient to handle."
As far as figuring out the Blue Queen went, though... It seemed that Kitt wanted to figure it out himself - to which Makoto smiled back in understanding, nodding. "That is perfectly fine, darling; and I imagine that the mystery itself has a lot of sentimental feelings attached to it." They'd respond - reaching down to pat Kitt on the head. "Go at it at your own pace, and go at it however feels most right to you."
"And as far as mysteries go, welllll~" Smiling wryly, Makoto would offer "I believe I have a few mystery novels back home, if you'd like something to read and occupy yourself with while you rest up, dear." It's only proper, to make sure Kitt didn't get bored while he was visiting, after all! And who knows what kind of conversations a mutual interest could prompt?
As the young Spadamon relaxed and nuzzled into their tails though, Makoto would be briefly surprised, but couldn't help a fond expression across their face - visibly endeared over the cub's gesture. "Such a precious darling," They'd softly muse - taking the time to wrap their tails around Kitt a little more securely, as though to allow him to better snuggle into them.
But, not long after, would also come the question of how far they were from home - to which Makoto would glance upwards, briefly seeing if they could spot Vander Tower's island from where they were, through the canopy. "We shouldn't be too far - I live in Rosewood, so I figured that it wouldn't be too hard to have a doctor come look at your shoulder once we're settled in and cozy." A teasing hue crossing their features though, they'd smile down to Kitt - asking "How come, by the way? Are you feeling that eager for cinnamon rolls, darling~?"
Reaching down, Makoto would gently and briefly ruffle the top of Kitt's mane in a fond and playful gesture, chuckling all the while.

Kitt put a hand behind his head, flustered at Makoto’s compliments over his Blue Queen. “Hehe, aww shucks.” he said, his cheeks slightly turning red. If anyone’s to take credit for managing his weapon, it’s Eris. When they met, she took an immediate interest to it, saying that it was a really well made blade. Since then she would make simple repairs to Blue Queen, making sure it wasn’t showing signs of wear and damage. He was even taking lessons from her too, now knowing how to use a whetstone to maintain his weapon’s sharpness.
After telling Makoto that he’ll find out the secrets of his weapon by himself, they expressed their understanding, patting him on the head. “Thank you, I will!” Even if it takes him a long time, he’ll figure something out eventually.
Mystery novels? Now that was a genre he hadn't read a whole lot. “I’d like that a lot, Makoto-san.” Kitt said. “Where I live, a bunch of Digimon my age are into things with lots of action and fighting in them. I like them too, but a book focusing on a great mystery is more engaging in my opinion. It feels like I’m part of their fictional world whenever I’m reading one of them. It’s amazing!”
As he nuzzled himself into Makoto’s tails, he felt the Renamon-X’s two tails wrap around more securely, to which Kitt happily appreciated. He closed his eyes, letting out a soft purr. It reminded him of the snuggle piles he sometimes got into with his older siblings Ophelia, Cassie, and Laertes, though minus him getting smothered.
Though this tender moment would not last long however, as Makoto mentioned bringing in a doctor to check on his shoulder. Immediately, Kitt’s fur stood on end, his eyes widening in fear as he came to a sudden stop.
“No, please, no doctors!” Kitt yelped. “I-I don’t want to get a needle shot! A-Ah! M-My s-s-shoulder’s fine now, s-see?” He slowly raised his sprained shoulder up, but when he was halfway to raising it up, a sharp pain coursed through him, forcing him to put his arm down.
He prayed to the Sovereigns that they were joking.

"Mystery novels it is, then. I'll be sure to lend you a few, once we're settled in." Makoto would respond with a warm smile, nodding. "I love getting an opportunity to put my mind to work trying to solve a good mystery, myself. But even when I've already read the book and figured out the mystery, I find that mystery novels can have some very compelling characters and little details that are worth rereading it for." Briefly pausing to chuckle, they'd smile wryly, adding "Some lines just hit so differently, when you know more about a character, you know?"
As they made their way along though, it seemed that Makoto's mention of bringing in a doctor would spook Kitt; the change in the little cub's demeanor immediately apparent to Makoto, much to the fox's concern. Seeing his fur puff up, and his eyes widening, Makoto would come to a stop as well - glancing down at Kitt with visible concern. Oh dear...
"Oh, darling, no; please don't hurt yourself." Makoto would attempt to calm Kitt as he lifted his arm - kneeling down to his level, and easing the sprained limb back down to his side. The scent of fear was quite apparent on the poor Spadamon - causing Makoto's expression to twist with a clear worry, filled with a need to ease his anxieties before he started having a panic attack or something. "Can you take some deep breaths for me, Kitt? It's okay, dear; you won't need to get any shots..."
Slowly and carefully, Makoto would wrap their arms around Kitt - giving him the chance to pull away if he so wished - in a comforting embrace; claws smoothing over his fur to try and soothe him. "There there... You're safe, it's okay; just keep doing deep breaths for me..." They'd murmur, taking in a deep breath of their own to ease their nerves. Kitt's sudden outburst had, admittedly, spooked them somewhat - their tails puffed up a little - and they couldn't help but wonder what it was about doctors that had caused such a fearful reaction in the young cub.
But, before long, once Makoto was sure that Kitt was able to properly listen, they would begin to explain themself. "... I just wanted someone to look at your shoulder, just to make sure nothing's broken. It wouldn't take any shots - just a quick look-over and a scan at most - and then they'd probably give you some painkillers to help you feel more comfortable, and set your shoulder if anything is indeed broken." Offering Kitt a reassuring and sympathetic smile though, they'd conclude "If you don't want any doctors to see you though, we don't have to bring over any doctors, okay dear? I'm just concerned for you, is all, with the height you had fallen from."
"I'm still sorry to have scared you like that though, Kitt; if I had known that the suggestion would spook you, I wouldn't have made it. I don't want to - and I wouldn't - force you into a stressful or scary situation, okay?"

Kitt panted, leaning on Makoto’s tails in a vain attempt to stop their advance. Every inch of him trembled in fear, but his fight-or-flight responses made sure he didn’t just simply slump over. His core was beating so wildly, any faster he was certain it would burst out of his chest.
And while his adrenaline ran rampant throughout his body, the grey Renamon-X would wrap their arms around him closely, asking him to take slow and deep breaths. At first, Kitt’s mind was too pumped up with the underlying fear of seeing a doctor, imagining a DemiDevimon with a wide, malicious grin, wearing a lab coat too big for its body with a gigantic syringe with his name on it—a terrifying visual picture.
But feeling Makoto’s claws gently going over his fur, their voice soothing him, it slowly began to ease the Spadamon's nerves as his trembling slowly ceased. Kitt pressed his head to Makoto’s stomach, accepting their comforting embrace. He didn’t realize that the fox was just as spooked from his reaction as he was to their suggestion.
A few moments would pass and Makoto would explain themselves, and apologize for spooking the young Spadamon. Kitt glanced up, his gold eyes peering with reassurance. “It’s fine,” he said, his voice trembling a bit. “And I’m sorry for making you worry. But please, no doctors. They do such awful things to you, and getting a needle shot from them is the worst thing imaginable. That’s why I avoid doctors, even when I come down with the sniffles.”

"I understand." Makoto murmured in response - wondering still what had happened to Kitt, for him to have such a fear and aversion towards doctors. But, they didn't feel as though that was their place to ask. Instead, the Renamon-X would simply nod in acknowledgement and understanding. "Needles can definitely be pretty nerve wracking; and things such as having to take medicine can sometimes be a bit yucky, too." They'd say, continuing to stroke Kitt's fur. "Any good doctor does what they do because they do want us to - ultimately - feel better, though I can certainly understand why they spook you."
"So, that being said, no doctors; I promise."
With that conclusion, Makoto would let out a gentle sigh as they relaxed, settling down into a more comfortable knelt position as they continued to gently hold Kitt. "Let me know when you're feeling a little more yourself, and then we can keep moving, dear." They'd instruct, adding "It's perfectly fine if it takes you a bit; I can be patient, and it's a nice day to sit around and relax, anyhow."
Thus, they'd continue to gently comb their claws through Kitt's fur; waiting until Kitt gave them the a-ok to continue on, (even if that was immediately after all was said.) If Kitt did take some time to relax though, Makoto would begin to hum a gentle tune to the both of them; enjoying the warmth of the sunlight peeking through the canopy against their dark fur. Either way though, once Kitt was good to go, Makoto would smile to him; slowly getting up on their feet, their tails deftly wrapped around the Spadamon's waist once more, before they continued to walk.
And just as Makoto said before, they weren't too far from Rosewood now. The trees would soon begin to thin out as the small city came into sight, and Makoto would let out a warm and relaxed hum. "Ah... Even after having lived here for the past number of years, Rosewood always feels wonderful to come back to." They'd muse, glancing about as they'd enter the city proper, and make their way towards home. "Perhaps it's because I was here to see the city grow?"
Glancing down to the young cub, Makoto smiled - mentioning "We're not far from my house - or from some yummy cinnamon rolls - now, darling. How are you feeling?"

Upon hearing that absolutely no doctors would be involved, Kitt’s nervousness completely ceased: His fur that became puffy from the adrenaline lowered back into its smooth and silky look, his tail that whipped back and forth came to a halt, and his pupils that were needle-like in shape dilated back.
With Makoto’s suggestion, the Spadamon sat in comfortable silence next to them for a few minutes, letting the breeze that moved the leaves on the trees waft over the two of them, bringing with it tantalizing scents from the flowers that surrounded the forest. Warm, familiar scents that made Kitt’s spine tingle with a forgotten memory. Strange as it was, this place did seem familiar to him, though he could not remember how and why. Nevertheless, he shook those thoughts from memory and relaxed under the gray Renamon-X, wanting to enjoy this moment.
As Makoto combed through his fur while thrumming a tone, he let out a low, but deep purr in response, enjoying the comfort that he was feeling. At first, he was completely against those petting him, but now he loved the feeling of it, but only with those he really cares about, and now he happily considered Makoto as one of them.
Feeling that he was ready, Kitt signaled Makoto that he was good to go. And after they wrapped their tails around his waist, they set off once more. The buildings of Rosewood became visible from the trees as they began to thin out with each step they took, and soon enough, it was right in front of them.
Stepping into the city, Kitt’s expression was filled with surprise. The city had already finished repairs from the mess with Seraphimon it seems, minus a few roof shingles from nearby buildings that were being filled in. It was amazing how the Digimon of this town came together to help one another at a moment’s notice, and with what Makoto had said, maybe that’s the reason why this Rosewood resonated with a lot of people. It made him wish he’d shared those sentiments with them--the feeling of growing up in a town and loving it.
Makoto mentioned that they were not too far from their house, and asked how he was feeling. “Oh, I’m feeling better now, thanks to you,” he said, giving a small smile. “I’m just amazed to see that there’s almost no signs of damage from our battle with Seraphimon. Last time, the entrance to the city was a mess, but now it's as if nothing happened. But I guess that means the Digimon here really loved this city a bunch, you know?”

Hearing Kitt purr, Makoto couldn't help a soft chuckle. Such an endearing cub. Such a precious darling. They almost wanted to wrap Kitt up in their arms, and declare him to be their child; but that wouldn't really be appropriate, nor tactful, would it? They were sure that Kitt's own family - given him having mentioned a sister and parents before - wouldn't appreciate Makoto making such claims about their darling brother and son, after all. Instead, they'd simply continue to stroke his fur and continue to hum a gentle tune, until it was time to get moving once more.
And once they did get moving and reached Rosewood, Makoto warmly smiled and nodded in response to Kitt's statements. "I'm glad you're feeling better, darling." They'd murmur, bringing a hand down to pat him on the head. "And I agree; it's quite impressive, just what all they could do in such a short amount of time."
"I imagine it helps that this is a rather sentimental place; a town built up initially as a place for Rookies to stay, while they got a feel for the new world that'd opened up for them after having left the Village of Beginnings." They would muse; idly trailing and tracing the tips of the claws on one of their hands along what looked to be some relatively recent repairs on a wall. "In the years that have passed, many digimon likely have made this place their home - their first home after having left their birthplace - and I thus imagine that they have close attachments to the city."
Sighing gently, warmly, Makoto would conclude by softly musing "I remember the hubbub, of digimon from many different parts, coming together to offer help in repairs - even though many of them didn't even live here anymore. It certainly is something that I would've done, if I had ended up stretching my more adventurous muscles sooner. Even if I do move out, Rosewood would always be near and dear to my heart."
It didn't take too long for Makoto to find the street they lived on, nor their home - a simple townhouse, nestled amongst the trees and other neighboring townhouses. Just from the outside, it felt warm and cozy; a wreath of dried flowers and reeds hanging off the front of the door, and a little garden plot being visible just underneath the window visible on the front. Though there was nothing in the garden plot at the moment - with winter coming, and Makoto planning to be traveling more often, growing things would be a bit more complicated - there was a bucket with gardening tools, and a watering can, both set in one of the far corners of the plot.
In front of the door, and adjacent to the gardening plot, there would also be a small porch with a couple of steps leading up to it - not quite big enough to really call it a proper porch, but just enough that Makoto was able to fit a welcome mat in front of the door; patterned with purple flowers. "Here we are, dear." Makoto would murmur, glancing down towards Kitt with a warm smile. "It isn't the most extravagant of places, but I certainly made it my own, didn't I?" They'd muse out loud with a gentle chuckle; adding "Watch your step, darling." as they made their way up the steps, towards the front door.

“Sentimental place, huh…” Kitt murmured, looking at some recent repairs to the exterior of a building that Makoto pointed at. A town founded by Rookies like him, only to grow into a bustling city like Luminas and Terminus City was simply amazing. As he listened to them mused how Rosewood was special to them and the Digimon that lived here, he felt a curious fuzzy feeling inside, one of familiarity.
The first time he came to this city was on V-Day with his now sister, Ophelia. He was initially reluctant at first since he was not the social type back then, but with encouragement from Eris, he stepped out of his shell and had an amazing day with the older Spadamon. It was a day that he treasured deeply, and now he was back here a third time, after ensuring its safety. Perhaps he was growing a sentimental value for Rosewood, too. He should bring Eris here next time so they can spend the day together here.
On their way, Kitt saw a few Digimon eyeballing him, chattering among themselves. They most likely recognize him as a part of the group team assembled with the blessing of Ebonwumon. In response he lifted his hood over his head, wanting to avoid further attention, and to avoid them seeing his red face. He wasn’t used to that kind of positive attention— not yet anyway.
After a little bit, the two came down a street, and in front of what looked to be Makoto’s home: a house nestled in-between tall trees among other neighboring homes. The smell of dried flowers hanging off the front door filled Kitt’s nose, making him feel warm and welcomed. The garden was surprisingly barren, with only a bucket of gardening tools and a watering can sitting on the side of the house.
Kitt stared at the empty garden, before turning his gaze to the gray Renamon-X. “It’s...it’s beautiful,” he simply said.
He walked up the stairs carefully, looking around the small porch, before noticing the welcome mat beneath his feet; it felt comfortable. “I’ve never been to a house that’s so rural-looking, yet so inviting.”

Noticing the way that Kitt would fluster from under his hood, Makoto couldn't help a gentle and fond chuckle; patting him on the head, and adjusting how their tails were wrapped around him to help him better hide his face from view. "There there, darling." They'd murmur softly in reassurance. "You've done lots of good for Rosewood, and people will likely notice you for it - but that's okay. They'll likely settle back down sooner or later, if the attention's a bit much for you, dear."
Besides, before long, the duo would have their attentions on Makoto's townhouse instead; as warm and homely-looking as ever. As Kitt called the place beautiful, Makoto couldn't help a warm and sheepish chuckle; responding "Oh, you flatter me, darling. Such a sweet dear..." as they pat Kitt on the head once more. "Don't mind the garden - with winter coming, most of the plants I usually like growing don't do very well in the cold; and with me being out and about more often, I don't have as much time to hang around and tend to it."
"Perhaps I could start growing some hardier native plants there, once winter passes, though."
As they made their way up to the front door, Makoto would glance down at Kitt as they took the time to pull out their keys - unwrapping a tail from the young cub to stick it into their own shadow, and flicking the keys upwards. "I've always preferred a more homely and natural look, personally." They remarked as they caught the keys in one of their hands, moving to unlock the front door "It matches with the rest of the city, and it's so much nicer than the usual 'minimalist' look more modern homes go for nowadays."
Opening the door, Makoto would lead Kitt into the livingroom - a cozy place, seemingly meant to house perhaps 1-3 people. On the left - against both the wall under the front window, and the adjacent left wall - would be a loveseat and couch, with throwcushions and blankets. In the corner of the room, adjacent to the loveseat and couch, would be an end table with a lamp atop it - and in front of the loveseat and couch would also be a coffee table with what looked to be a box of tissues and tv remote. On what walls weren't occupied by windows, would be a variety of decor - a couple of paintings, a wallclock, and even a shelf with a few curios here and there.
Directly to the right was a set of stairs up to the second floor, and against the wall that separated the stairs from the livingroom would be a tv stand with a tv atop it, with a bookshelf filled both with CDs and actual books adjacent to it. The flooring was a soft rug, and up above would be a ceiling fan and light - the latter of which Makoto would turn on by flicking the switch with their unoccupied tail.. Finally, on the far opposite side of the livingroom, would be two doorways - a wide open one that led to what looked to be a mix between a diningroom and kitchen, while the other doorway would have a closed door that would lead to a half-bathroom.
Smiling down to Kitt, Makoto would lead the cub over to the loveseat. "Go ahead and make yourself comfy, darling; and don't be afraid to be greedy with the throwcushions and blankets, they're there for getting cozy after all." They'd mention - questioning "Before I start fixing up a meal and cinnamon rolls for you, do you want me to get you anything for your shoulder or for getting comfortable? An ice pack, painkillers, extra cushions or blankets?" Oh, and speaking of comfortable... "... Do you like scented candles at all? I might light one, if it won't bother your nose at all."

Kitt appreciated Makoto’s gesture. The digimon that noticed him tried to get a good peek of him, chattering among themselves to see if the Spadamon was actually the one that helped the city before ultimately giving up, but still geeking out otherwise. Kitt breathed a sigh of relief. It wasn’t because he didn’t like the attention, truly he appreciated it, but growing up by himself, he was content with just being another face in the crowd--a bystander. Besides, he wouldn’t know what to do or say if a crowd were to swarm him.
Soon enough, the two would reach Makoto’s home. Kitt couldn't help but smile as the Renamon-X patted him on the head. He tilted his head in curiosity hearing that they weren’t around their home a whole lot to properly tend to their garden.
“Well, if it’s ok with you, I can help take care of your garden whenever you’re out, Makoto-san” Kitt suggested. “I just started learning how to garden but I love it so far. It’s so relaxing. I have three flower pots in my window where I live and I’ve been taking good care of them. I’ve never tended an entire garden though, but I’m more than happy to roll up my sleeves and learn how to!”
Kitt followed Makoto into the house, into the living room, his eyes widening in amazement. This was the first time he’d ever been in a house before. Compared to Icy Fate’s Fortress, It was way smaller in size, only fitting like a handful of mon, but it was all so cozy.
“Your home is so lovely.” Kitt expressed gleefully, following Makoto over to their loveseat. He moved the pillows to the opposite side of the chair and sat down, practically melting in the seat. The cushions were so comfortable.
Makoto asked if he needed anything for his arm. “Uhh, an ice pack, please,” Kitt asked with a small smile. They also asked if he liked scented candles. “Scented candles? You mean the candles that you can smell? Yes, I don’t mind if you do.”
Kitt took in the amenities of the room. He closed his eyes as he felt the sunlight peered through the curtains. He almost wanted to station himself at the window, but chose not to. Instead, he lie down across the chair, basking in any rays that entered.

At the offer for Kitt to take care of their garden, Makoto would be unable to help a surprised but endeared laugh, smiling warmly. "Oh, darling..." They'd murmur in an almost-coo as they patted Kitt on the head. "I appreciate that offer greatly; but it's quite alright. I'm sure you have your own life to manage, and I'd certainly not want you to feel obligated to put everything down every day, or even every week, just for my garden." Not to mention that it was unlikely anything would be growing in it until winter passes, but that wasn't the main point.
As Kitt commented on the townhouse and made himself comfortable on the loveseat though, Makoto would smile and nod in response. "Thank you, dear. Feel free to make use of the TV if you so wish - and let me know if you want me to put anything in particular on for you. I want you to overstay your welcome as much as you please."
As the Spadamon requested an icepack though, and mentioned that he was okay with scented candles, the Renamon-X would nod in acknowledgement; smiling warmly. "I'll go get an icepack for you, then." They'd state as they moved for the kitchen; briefly opening one of the cabinets in it as they did. <Do you mind picking out a candle for us, Kuro darling?>
<Will do.>
It might be a strange sight, to see Makoto's shadow actually part from their body; shifting along the surfaces to the cabinet, and seemingly examining the different candles that sat on the top shelf as Makoto opened up the freezer. Eventually though, the shadow would decide on a candle - seeming to almost absorb it into itself, before returning to Makoto's side proper; where they would pull the candle out of their shadow with their tail - <Thank you, dear,> - as they worked on bagging up an icepack for Kitt. "Ooh, Autumn Spice..." They'd murmur, briefly reading the scent on the label out loud. "Perfectly seasonal!"
By the time the icepack was ready, they would move back towards Kitt - setting the candle on the dining room table as they passed, and lighting it with a little purple spark. Already, Makoto could tell that the townhouse was probably gonna end up smelling like pumpkin bread or pumpkin pie - sure to give the already warm and cozy home an even warmer hue, as they finally reached Kitt's side; handing him a kitchen towel-wrapped icepack.
"Here you go, darling." They would state with a warm murmur, patting Kitt on the head. "I don't know how well your fur stands up to cold, so I wrapped it up in a towel just in case - you can unwrap it if you want, though. Is there anything else you might need or want, before I get started on making food?"

Kitt’s ears lowered in disappointment as Makoto politely declined his offer. “Oh...well, maybe not everyday. More like whenever I come to visit and you’re at home. But I understand. I apologize for being too insistent.” He bowed, slightly embarrassed. Plus, there wouldn’t be any reason to since winter is coming. The ground would be too frozen to plant anything.
After Makoto welcomed him into their home, Kitt made himself comfortable on the loveseat, right next to the curtains where sunlight was peering out. He felt so relaxed that he didn’t even respond to the Renamon-X; he just lazily gave her a thumbs up as he flipped to his back, happily purring up a storm.
A few moments into his relaxation, Kitt lazily opened one eye, seeing what Makoto was up to. He looked down to see Makoto’s shadow moving across the surface. Thinking it was the sun being obscured by some clouds, he didn’t take note of it...only to see it shift up to the kitchen counter, seemingly alive.
Kitt immediately got up on all fours—well, threes since his shoulder is out of commission. His eyes widened, his back was arched, and fur was standing up on end as he watched it take a candle into its body and return to Makoto’s side with it.
What was it? Was it sentient? If so, how was it alive? These questions started to build up in the Spadamon’s head as he began to ponder whether to fight it or stay put. Though despite watching it give the candle to Makoto and their reaction, Kitt still kept his guard up, unsure how to engage.
If he had a potty mouth, he would be cursing up a storm right now.
He watched as Makoto placed and lit the candle, shifting his gaze to them and their shadow, anticipating the shadow to make its move. If it came to him, he would take out his Blue Queen and slice and dice it. Makoto handed him a wrapped ice pack; Kitt’s nerves would calm.
“T-Thank you…” he muttered, plopping back into his seat, still shifting his eyes between them and their shadow.
Makoto asked if there was anything he needed. “Umm, yes, and it’s just a question…” he pointed at their shadow. “Your shadow moved! Is it haunted? Are you haunted? Or did I fall too hard off that cliff, I’m hallucinating?!”

Seeing Kitt so startled, Makoto would initially blink a second - wondering what the issue was, and what had the young cub so on-edge, when they'd come over to hand him his ice pack. Did something happen outside?
As Kitt asked about their shadow though, realization would flash across Makoto's face, and they would chuckle gently. "Ah... Don't worry, darling; that's just Kuro. You could say that it's a living shadow - my shadow, to be exact - and it acts as a companion and familiar for me." They'd explain, patting Kitt on the head in reassurance. "Kuro's a bit of a shy dear, so don't worry if it's a bit quiet towards you; it still means well, and is a friendly and very helpful darling."
Briefly, almost reservedly, the shadow - Kuro - would wave to Kitt, before returning to its default position. Faintly, gently, its voice would nudge at Kitt's mind - a soft <Sorry for scaring you...> being all that it'd say, before falling quiet once more.
"If you don't need anything else though, I'll probably get started on making us some sweets, then." Makoto soon stated, turning back towards the kitchen and getting to work on looking for the recipe. "While I'm at it, do you have any other adventures you'd like to tell us about?" They'd ask, poking their head out to smile in Kitt's direction. "They don't have to be anything big - though hearing about what you youngsters get up to nowadays is always nice." And on top of that, it'd be a good way to get an idea of what things have gone on, in the world beyond the Eastern Timberlands.
Once they had the recipe for those cinnamon rolls though, Makoto would get right to work on making them - preheating the oven, and getting out the dishes, utensils, and ingredients they'd need. "Do you like frosting with your cinnamon rolls, dear?" They would ask, as they worked. "Or would you rather without?"

Kitt began to relax, plopping down on the loveseat as Makoto explained about the shadow without taking his eyes off of it, wary of whether it will come to him. Kuro, huh? That’s a nice name. He didn’t think it was possible for an entity like them to exist alongside someone. Now getting a good look at it, the familiar didn’t seem bad.
He watched as Kuro returned to the Renamon-X’s side, but not before he heard whispers in his head, presumably belonging to the sentient shadow, apologizing.
“Oh! I’m...sorry for being scared of you,” Kitt uttered, reaching out to it. “I hope we can be friends…” was all he said before Makoto’s shadow returned to normal.
The Spadamon’s ears dropped down in sadness. Now he felt bad; but he didn’t know what to further add now it was back with Makoto. But since it was with them this entire time, listening and seeing everything up to this point, Kitt concluded that maybe Kuro didn’t think negatively of him. But for now, he’ll respect the familiar’s space.
His ears perked up in attention when Makoto asked if he had some adventures to share with them as well as if he wanted frosting on his cinnamon rolls. “Ooh! Frostings, please!” he chirped, his tail swishing back and forth in excitement. “I love frostings. They taste so heavenly!”
Kitt crossed his arms, musing on where to start recollecting the stuff he’s done. “Well, I’ve already told you about the incident with Seraphimon I was in. Oh! I helped my friend, Bezil discover some treasure hidden in the Tyrant's Labyrinth. I met him when I was just outside the entrance. He let me have some of his food and we became fast friends. We had to overcome three obstacles: finding a way over a strong river current, navigating through a maze, and solving an underground puzzle to get to the treasure. But just as we thought the treasure was ours as we were swimming in it, a trap door opened up and we ended with us sliding all the way down til we shot outside. It was scary, but looking back at it now, it was real fun.”
Kitt chucked, remembering all of that. Then something else popped up in his head. “This one isn’t an adventure, but I met and spent the weekend with my big sister, Ophelia’s family for the first time. They live in Terabyte Mountain in the Northern Prominence, so it was a bit of a hike to travel up there. I met her other siblings: Cassie—a Gomamon-X who’s so nice, but has monster strength; Laertes—he’s a Strabimon. I don’t know him very well since he keeps to himself and doesn’t talk a whole lot, but he’s pretty cool; and then their parents, Mr. Callus and Mrs. Gertrude—A Panjyamon and a Blizzarmon. They taught me a bunch of things those two days. I even got to learn how to wrestle with my big sis and the others.”
The Spadamon felt his core becoming warm through his arm cast, becoming flustered. “They accepted me as a part of their family even though they barely knew me at the time. At first I thought it was weird, but now I’m glad they did. I never knew what it was like to have brothers or sisters before. But now, I love them…”
He paused, tossing his head around and making his hair move. Just thinking about those times made him happy. But there’s one “adventure” that held a special place in his heart, an adventure that changed his life for the better…

As Kitt attempted to respond with an apology of his own, reaching out, Kuro would - initially - be silent, no response to be made...
... At least, until Kuro would brush against Kitt's mind with a warm and gentle emotion - tinged with its own shy feelings, but present oh-so-briefly. The familiar thought positively of Kitt, having had some time to watch the cub in action; though Kuro, perhaps, needed a little more time before it was ready to warm up to him proper.
At the eager response that Kitt had to the mention of frosting though, Makoto couldn't help a gentle laugh; tails swishing. "Frosting it is, then." They'd respond; setting aside an additional bowl to mix the aforementioned topping in. It wasn't a proper cinnamon roll without some sweet frosting on top, if you asked them!
As the Renamon-X got straight to work on things though, Kitt would talk about the different adventures that he's had; both in traveling with Bezil in the Tyrant's Labyrinth, and meeting his sister's family in the Terabyte Mountains. Responding first to the mention of the Tyrant's Labyrinth, Makoto would chuckle a bit, smiling warmly. "Ahh... That's the sort of excitement this old soul has begun to crave, as of late." They'd comment briefly, adding "The quiet and calm years I've spent here have done well for me and growing as a person. But with the events that have rocked this world as of late spurring so many other youngsters to action, I can't help but get caught up in the current, myself, ahah!"
One could only wonder, what sort of adventures they and Kuro both would find out there.
And as far as Terabyte Mountains went... "Oh, that's quite the cold place. Far from any notable civilizations, too; they must be a hardy bunch." Makoto mused briefly, unable to help a fond smile at the mention of Kitt's happiness over his own family. Mixing together ingredients in a bowl, they would make a relaxed sigh, before glancing over to Kitt. "Family is a precious thing to have, though; do cherish them well, as well as any other family you find for yourself in the world, darling." They'd advise, adding "Bonds between our kin can have a power of its own, just as bonds between humans and digimon do, even if we lack the catalysts that humans have." That catalyst in question, of course, being digivices and the like.
Although, Makoto also couldn't help but find their mind wandering somewhat - pondering over their former family in Blossom Isles, as well as their late mother. It was difficult - if not impossible - to reunite with the reincarnations of others, sometimes; though they couldn't help but wonder what their mother's next life must be up to, at this very moment...
... <... You're getting melancholic again,> Kuro's voice briefly nudged at the back of their mind. <... I think you're also overmixing the dough.>
This was enough for Makoto to jump a back to reality, blinking a bit at the dough that their claws had been kneading at. "Ah..." They'd breathe, ears twitching a bit, before responding to Kuro with a gentle <Thank you, dear.> It was pretty difficult to overknead dough by hand, though, so they were pretty sure they were good on that front.
With that though, they would turn their focus back to Kitt as they continued working on the cinnamon rolls, to see what else the young Spadamon had to say.
