"Well sure, just because I don't place some kind of premium on strength doesn't mean that I don't recognize that it has its place and that I don't need to stay on top of it if I want to keep myself breathing for the foreseeable future." Zack said, smiling. Strength wasn't the most important thing but that didn't mean it wasn't important at all, especially when he almost never made the habit of picking on anyone the same size as him or smaller, always punching well above his weight class.
"We practice a lot of martial arts, since my dad doesn't have the physical strength or abilities that most digimon do he has to replace it was martial skill where and when he can." Marigold said, cheek propped up against one of her legs held against the tabletop, the image of her father antagonizing evil digimon the size of semitrucks swirling in her mind with how often he found himself in that exact kind of trouble, usually on purpose.

Kuro however had competely missunderstood the concept of Martial Arts. An expression of awe and wonder coming on his face, and his mind raced on which question he should ask first until he decided on the first one that had popped in his head.
"How do you use, painting to fight bad guys?" Kuro naivly asked a infant like look of excitement and curiosity on his mug.
Kuro was now imagining a Zack facing down a giant dinosaur digimon, in his full uniform, a paint brush in one hand, a canvas in the other, his paintbrush dripping a bronze color.
"Beware dasterdly villian I, the great Zack-Man, will defeat thought the power of my artistic expression!" Imagination Zack declared in the voice of the great Adam West.
"Foohlish Zack-Man, you can not best ,I, None-Descript Dino! For I do not care for art in any form!!!" The dino declared, "And I also I have captured your companions somehow," The dino said holding up a comically large age with violet and marigold in it.
"Oh no, whatever shall we do," Marigold droaned in annoyance seemingly aware she was just a figment of Kuro's imagination.
"Situation- somewhat normal, Observation= this is ridiculous," Violet said doing something of a deadpan.
"FEAR NOT MY COMPATRIOTS!" Zack declared spinning to have his back face the dino, dramatically. "For I Zack-Man, have never known a beast who could not be trumped by amazing artistry!" And no sooner had he said this, Zack began to furiously paint a picture upon the canvas. When he was finshed his mask's visor glintedlike an anime man's glasses as he .with one hand on the top of the canvas, flicked the canvas foward to reveal....
A poorly painted picture of the dino exploding with a stick figure of Zack and Co at the bottom left corner in celebration.
The trio of villainy and hostages deadpanned at the picture for a second before the dino exploded comically.
And thus the day was saved once again by the Spectacular Zack-Man and his power of martial art!

"Kid? Kid? Yoohoo, any lights still on back there?" Zack said, waking Kuro up from his little daydream by snapping his fingers in front of the black dinosaur's face, shocking him out of his imagination with the sound. "Martial arts doesn't mean fighting people with painting. Here, I'll show you what it means." He said, walking over to the outskirts of the firelight and finding a log, Marigold getting up from her seat and buzzing of to him. The two of them mumbling to one another before Marigold takes the log at one end and props it, standing straight up toward the sky, shoving downward to sink it a little in the grass and dirt.
Zack stepped back, taking a deep breath, his hands held up in front of his torso, one of his feet held out in front of him, pressed at a slight angles into the ground, his entire body coiled like a spring. In a single heartbeat he was moving with speed enough to blur the eye, throwing out jabs, uppercuts, wide sweeping kicks and harsh, rattling hammer blows. The half rotted trunk began to crumble underneath the assault, chips of moist wood being snapped away by each impact until there was a large chunk taken out of one side of the log facing Zack. The wood began to creak and groan, wobbling in the slight evening breeze and leaning hard toward Zack. The superhero sidestepped, turning to face Kuro and not even looking at the long as it finally snapped at the midpoint and CRASHED with a heavy slam, shattering into waterlogged wood chips as it landed near his feet.
"Definition: Martial arts is the concept of using drive and practice of specific fighting moves in order to increase one's prowess in battle as well as many other physical, mental and spiritual disciplines." Violet said, again reading it off like they had a dictionary or the like somewhere inside of their round, purple metal head.
"When you can't match and opponent in might, something I can't even hope to do against most digimon, you have to make up for it with skill and brains." He said, tapping two fingers against his temple, "pointing" to his brain and showing that it got him out of just as many unfortunate scraps as the martial practice.

Kuro's momentary embarrassment was quickly washed away by the tidal wave that was his ethusiasm, he quickly wondered if he would be able to preform such feats with his stubby little arms and legs, looking down at his limbs in obvious disappointment, before attempting a sloppy jab at the air. He sighed deeply before looking up at Zack.
"I wish I had a body that could do stuff like that, but I'm too small, I kinda hoped you would be able to teach me how to fight but.... I'm built for it it would seem, well at least not fighting smart like you, my kind are brute force to the extereme..." Kuro shook his head, he was a rather thoughtful digimon when came to the practice fights he had been in, but he just didn't see it in his genes to fight like the human was , despite him very much wanting to.

"The specifics of the techniques are really the least important part of martial arts." Zack said, sitting in the grass near the fire so the crackling of it's shifting, rolling light danced across his face softly, crossing his legs so his lower legs crisscrossed over one another. "Sit with me." He asked the black dinosaur digimon, Marigold and Violet getting up from their seats and both sitting in a circle with Zack, marigold laying on her stomach with her front legs crossed together and violet moving their limbs outward away from one another until they were resting on a neat bundle of their manipulating wires beneath their body. "Now close your eyes, take a deep breath in...and out and just...listen." Zack prompted, leaving Kuro in a human silence for a moment, the sound of Zack's breathing, the crackle and gentle roar of the fire, the sound of wind through the grass all that accompanied him inside his own head.

This kind of training was new to the rookie digimon, but he was more then interested in attempting it, he relaxed in a upright sit as instructed and began mimicking Zack's posture and current state of being. Or trying to at least, as he close his eyes he felt his body began to calm the long nights of running finally taking their toll as he began to truly relax, bringing forth some strange and somewhat daunting visions. In one such visions the visage of a large Greymon shaped beast with glowing amethyst eyes staring straight into Kuro's soul as a cobalt blue flames burned around him, its massive maw opening to swallow him, it took all he had not to jump out of his vision like a bad dream, though he did elicit a slight whimper, the next vision was what he assumed a memory, he was looking through the eyes of a being who was taller then him, but most likely not much taller then Zack, peering over a balcony to a gathering of many virus type digimon of various sizes and shapes, looking down he had humans like hands, though far more feminine then his human companion, his reflecting in a mirror to his immediate left revealing the image of some dark lady. Kuro snapped out of the vision with a start, before shaking it off.
"Questions for another time," He muttered to himself, before trying to return to the meditave state, this time he was simply sitting near a lake, enjoying the summer breeze.

Zack popped open one eye when his companion suddenly jerked up, Zack's body tensing on an instinct in case there was something wrong. Kuro seemed to shake it off though and settle back down into position so Zack decided not to pry. If there was nothing openly wrong then it didn't seem like any of his business, if Kuro wanted to talk about it then he would talk about it.
"Internalize yourself. Look into your own mind, your goals, your drives, your fears. Look at them directly for what they are, rather than what they seem to be." Zack said, still doing his best to keep his breathing steady as the two companions to either side of him continued to simply breathe in and out in the same gentle rhythm as before. "You seek strength, for what purpose? Why do you wish to be stronger? Do not repeat the same reasons you have always told yourself. Look deeper and see the true reasons why. Strength can do good, but it can also do much evil." He said, hoping to make Kuro look inside of himself. It's not that he didn't trust the little Digimon to be responsible, Zack had to look inside of himself and ask why he wanted certain things fairly often too. It kept a person honest to truly look at themselves and see what they wanted and why, to nail their own feet to the floor and sober up about any of the justifications they may have been using, to see to the center of themselves in truth.

Kuro listened to Zack and took his words to heart, he had always told himself it was for his want to prove himself to his tribe, but was that case. He looked at himself, a mighty Greymon of the virus type, a blue scaled hide glimmering in the sunlight, but he didn't see his tribe around him. He saw a open field, filled with oppurtunity.
:"Freedom," Kuro muttered to out loud, "Freedom to do what I need to do, truth is I don't mind this wandering as much I thought," He said to himself absent mindedly forgetting he was in the company of other people. "Is that why I listened to that dark voice when I digivovled?"
Kuro didn't have answer he knew he still wanted to prove himself, his mind wandering back to the immage of his to be champion form, wondering to whom he was trying to prove his worth?

"Freedom is a thing that all life strives for, beware becoming unmoored from what you believe in and what you cherish in the name of freedom. A free life is a happy life but a lonely life is a terrible one indeed." Zack said, suddenly very aware of the feeling of his two wards, one to either side of him, the light hiss of grass rolling across Marigold's outer shell with each slight motion and adjustment, the same sound with a more metallic ring come from the other side as Violet settled themselves though he was unsure what it was that the mostly literal machine could do with meditation, he only prayed that it could do them some good as it seemed to be doing the rest of the group.
"You say freedom to do what you need. But what is it that you really need?" Marigold said, speaking in response to Kuro's words, even if he wasn't totally listening to the group in front of him, more trying to helpfully direct his line of thinking rather than interrupt the moment of personal growth he was expiriencing.

Marigold's question was not one Kuro knew how to answer, in truth he had no idea what he needed, not many young beings did, no matter one that had been forced out on its own so young, He thought all he needed was the ability to do what he felt was right and the freedom to do so as he saw fit.
"Right now all I need is to be stronger so I don't become food for another digimon" Kuro shrugged, silently wondering if those pass visions had so key to what he really needed, "I can't really think of much else, I guess helping a bunch of people would be nice too, but I really don't know anything I would call a NEED,"
The young digimon frowned a bit now really trying to come up with something anything other then his current goals. He didn't want to come off as aloof or uncaring, but his young mind was still quiet focus on the immediate future and his current goals, if that was a trait of his being a virus type or just a part of who he was he didn't know.

"Have you ever given much thought as to what you want to DO in life?" Zack said, picking up one of his knees and pulling it close to his chest, placing his chin on it. He opened his eyes, ending the exercise in meditation, at least for himself. If Kuro found keeping his eyes closed and his breathing steady was more helpful for him than Zack certainly wasn't going to stop him. Right now it seemed the black dinosaur just needed someone to listen.
"Surviving one day to the next is important, sure. But what comes after that?" Marigold said, again trying to get at the heart of the issue. Trying to turn over rocks within the black Agumon to see if he knew where his true passions lay.
"Confusion: Survival is the most important aspect of living, what else could be required?" Violet said, evidently the still blank sounding machine not totally understanding the point that Zack and Marigold were trying to make, which made them both smile.
"Nothing else is "required" silly. But most people like to have some kind of goal, some kind of passion, some kind of purpose. Some reason to get up in the morning and keep pushing." Marigold said. Her and her father's foals were twofold, to go out and help people in the immediate way and to come back to the shelter and help them in a not so immediate way.

Kuro opened his eyes to face Zack, his amethyst eyes glistening with confusion.
"I can't say I can think of anything, although I have only been in exile for a few weeks," Kuro said with a shrug, his young mind not truly understanding the gravity of what he just said.
Kuro didn't even know where he was going to go after this, his sudden eviction from the tribe had left him without any greater purpose outside of gaining more power, although he supposed he could look into his past life, but with no solid leads are any real reason to, it seemed like a silly endeavor. After all there is no telling how long ago his previous incarnation was. Kuro mulled the question over a bit more, a bit flustered that he couldn't give a solid answer, he didn't feel too bad about it as he was still young but he knew he would have to find that answer eventually.

"Well it's a good thing you don't have to." Zack said, pushing himself back up to stand, dusting off the front of his pant legs and offering out a hand to the black scaled dinosaur digimon. "Some people go their entire lives asking these questions without really being able to give a solid answer, even to themselves. Life is rarely so simply as asking the question and being delivered the answers after all." He said, helping Kuro to stand, his shadow flickering down onto the visage of the dark colored dinosaur from the dancing of the bonfire behind him.
"Besides. You're still young and there's a LOT to see, on to different worlds even." Marigold said with a smile and a twitch of her antennae. She would never have been able to adjust to a life on the road but it seemed to work for a good chunk of digimon.
"Assertion: These questions are illogical. What it the purpose of a question with no answer?" Violet huffed slightly, though nobody could be totally sure if they were reading that reaction into their robotic monotone or if there was indeed some slight edge to it.
"So's life, get used to it." Marigold said in response, being probably a bit snippier than the question actually required, sarcastically answering the machine.

Kuro mulled the words of the digimon and their partner, He was glad he wasn't expected to answer right on the spot, but he also still wanted an answer to the question.
"Guess Ill just keep traveling till I figure it out," Kuro sighed, looking up into the night sky, the stars twinkling above. He wondered how long he'd get to stay here wondering what his future would be like. Kuro sighed deeply a bit of homesickness creeping into his mind, as he remembered his siblings back home, that one solitary koromon that stayed behind, hoping to join his kin on their journey.
"Did I make the right choice," Kuro asked himself quietly, a sad expression coming onto his face, he hoped the little guy was alright, and dreaded the thought of him also becoming a black agumon. He looked over to the trio and pondered what it must be like to have such a close knit group.

"I ask myself that same question every day." Zack said, wanting to break Kuro of any notion that Zack had some kind of "answers" or that the young man had anything close to figured out. "You put your feet in front of you, every day, and eventually you'll figure out whether you did the right thing...of course by then you'll have made about one hundred other mistakes, choices and blunders to worry about but that's life my young friend." He said, shaking his head with a laugh and sigh. Life was never "all figured out", god forbid it ever was. Because then what would even be the point?
"If someone is telling you they have all the answers, turn in the opposite direction sharply because they're trying to get you to join a cult." Marigold agreed, shaking her head at some of the garbage people would peddle in the name of "figuring it all out" on behalf of people like Kuro, just looking for answers.
