Hiro was really regretting listening to Tetsu. The little guy had some sort of 'Hero' fetish and kept getting him to help people. He was constantly carrying people's bags, catching pets and now he was talking down a crazy person. Well, hopefully not crazy, just freaking out. Though not enough to forget how to be polite, something that often forgot while in sound mind, so hopefully this wouldn't go badly.
His hopes of not crazy were dashed by Carrie pulling out a bottle that obvious was used to carry pills. Hiro swallowed and hoped to God that he could pull this off.
"It's fine, Carrie. I'm Tsukino Hiro and that's A.J. sitting over there." Hiro introduced himself and gestured towards A.J. "We aren't dating by the way, so you don't need to worry about that."
Hiro reached down into his bag and slowly pulled out Tetsu, who was doing his best to look as adorable as possible. He was smiling brightly and his eyes were sparkling with joy. Though that was partially because he was sincerely bursting with happiness that Hiro was helping people. This was great. He's helped people, talked to people, all they need to do now was beat up some bad Digimon and he'd be a genuine 'Hero.'
"This here is Tetsu, he's a Digimon. It's short for Digital Monster." Hiro explained albeit a bit awkwardly since he realized the concept was ridiculous. "The cat blob thing you saw before is another Digimon. They're..."
Hiro paused as he tried to think of a way to describe Digimon. He took a moment to plan his words so they sounded sure rather than sounding like he had no idea what he was talking about "They're... creatures made of data from another world. They come in a bunch of different shapes and they're friendly. They're pretty smart too."
Well, that last part was partially a lie. Not all Digimon were friendly, but he could clear that up later. Right now, the only Digimon on the roof were Tetsu and Patch, who both were adorable and friendly so Hiro was going to use that to his advantage.

She sees them walking in a straight line, that's not really her style. And they all got the same heartbeat, but hers is falling behind. Nothing in this world could ever bring them down. Yeah, they're invincible, and she's just in the background.
A.J blinked owlishly, her eyes getting wider by the second. Hiro approached the girl, trying to calm her down, but it didn't seem to be doing much. She could see Hiro was getting a little more agitated, but he seemed to have a kind heart if he really truly did want to help her. A.J stood, smoothing down the blue plaid skirt that was a requirement for the school, and began to make her way over. Maybe she could be of some help, but she doubted it knowing as little Japanese as she did. Blue orbs flicked down to the ground where her cell phone had fallen. She made her way cautiously over to them and bent down to retrieve the shaking item, however, because of the rather tense situation, she did not notice anything out of the ordinary about it. She approached the girl and offered a small smile.
"You dropped this," she said in English. If the girl returned a blank look or a confused one, she could assumed that the girl couldn't speak English. Hiro could probably translate though. She held out the phone in the palm of her head, smiling. She hoped that she could convey that they weren't going to hurt her.
A.J.'s eyes flicked quickly and away from the medicine bottle. So there was a medical issue. This was probably not something two teenagers would be able to handle and might have to take her to the school nurse.
Patch's head popped out of A.J's backpack, tilting his head to the side. As they say, curiosity killed the cat, but he couldn't help but wonder about the situation. Plus he always felt the need to keep an eye on his tamer.

Perhaps it was Dorimon's adorable appearance, or maybe it was the fact the two seemed to be showing genuine kindness, or it might have been that her medicine was starting to kick in. Whatever the reason, as the two did their best to console her she found herself calming down dramatically. As she reached out to pet Dorimon she found he was, indeed, real.
"Oh... oh my goodness. I... I um..." She went silent again as she brought her hands back to herself. She was still a bit jittery and jumpy but the explication (confusing and backward as it was) at least helped explain a little bit about them. "I... um... s-sorry..." She said, looking away. "I-I don't usually... um... I-I'm sure you two had the same idea when you first... um..." She looked away, noticing the two had caught notice of her medicine. "Oh! Oh no i-it's not what you think i-I'm not an addict or an-anything the-these are prescription, I-I assure you..." She was blushing furiously as she continued to apologize for things.
She looked confused at AJ's statement but looked at her phone and she started to understand. "O-oh! I'm sorry, y-yes, that's mine..." She carefully took the phone from AJ's hands and put it in her pocket, she herself not noticing the changes it was going through. "M-maybe we should start over... I-I'm Carrie..."

Hiro was ready to sigh in relief when Carrie slowly started to calm down. She still seemed strung tighter than a guitar string, but she didn't look like she was about to throw Tetsu off the roof and run away screaming so he would take it as a win. Tetsu was preening in his hands, enjoying the petting as well as happy that Hiro had helped someone.
"Oh, it's fine. I figured it was medicine." Hiro gave the pill bottle another glance once Carrie mentioned it. He hoped to god that it was medicine. While there was a small part of him still hoping that it was maybe pain medicine or something, but he was pretty sure it had to do with how shaky Carrie looked. "And like I said before, I'm Hiro."
"Hi~" Tetsu had been holding himself back, but he couldn't take it anymore. "I'm Tetsu. Can you pet me again?"
The little guy was almost vibrating with energy and Hiro could feel Tetsu's tail wagging rapidly.
"Yeah, they're not the most frightening things." Hiro said with a hint of exasperation as he looked down at Tetsu. Though he did feel bad about leaving out information. Digimon could come in a variety of shapes and some of Tetsu's descriptions sounded frightening. Still, Carrie looked fragile enough without him telling horror stories of scary Digimon.

[Carrie: I am assuming she is speaking English now. Correct me if I'm wrong xD A.J knows very little Japanese]
Well it seemed that whatever kind of medicine the girl had taken was working as she seemed considerably less jerking and stuttery. When she took her phone back and introduced herself as Carrie, the Italian teen gave a small smile and nodded. "I'm A.J."
A nudging against her ankles made A.J. blinked and look down. She sighed softly and bent down to pick up her Nyaromon. "And this is Patch. He's my partner. He's pretty harmless."
When Tetsu was begging to be petted again, Patch couldn't help but beg as well. "Me too! Me too!"
"C'mon, Patch. We can't overwhelm the poor girl anymore." She gave a smile at her partner and began pet him to placate him so Carrie wouldn't get so freaked out again. "So, did you come to the roof to get some alone time too? I just kind of stumbled up here. This is my first day at this school, so I didn't really know anyone would be up when I met Hiro and Tetsu."

"Um... s-sure..." She continued to pet Tetsu, looking at the two who'd shown up so suddenly. As she let the moment pass in deathly silence she realized that the girl had asked a question. She didn't know much English, but at least those lessons in school let her know what she asked. "Oh, the roof? Um, well... usually people come up here to be alone... like I do. usually when someone else is up here it's because they want to do something in secret or fight without the teachers showing up or something like that... I usually don't tell..." She looked at the two partners. "I-I can keep this quiet too... i-if you want..."
She blinked as she heard her phone beeping once again. The two may recognize the beep as a digivice having found something on a compass. As she took out her new digivice, she stared at it and gasped, dropping it and backing away. "Ohmygod wh-what's this? Wh-where's my phone?" She began digging through her pockets as the other two would get a good look at the holiday-colored gadget, looking different from theirs in multiple ways.

Hiro realized that A.J. didn't have the best grasp of Japanese and Carrie didn't have the best grasp of English so he dutifully translated the two's conversation. While he was doing this, Tetsu was humming happily as he got pet by Carrie.
"Well if you could keep this entire meeting secret that would be great." Hiro would rather the rumor mill not get a hold of this meeting at all even if the Digimon were kept out of it. The last thing he needed was rumors about him and A.J. going on. He had enough flak on him for being so surly, he didn't need people coming after him because he was dating the cute transfer student.
Hiro's contemplation of the rumor mill was broken by a familiar beeping noise. Almost on instinct, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his D-3 to check it. The thing was silent and nothing was showing up the screen so it wasn't him. He looked up and found Carrie freaking out and an odd device sitting on the floor.
"What the?" Hiro knelt down and picked up the fallen object. It was two color toned, green and red. It looked kind of like his own D-3 but larger and an odd part that looked kind of like an infrared scanner on an old school phone. It certainly looked different, but Hiro had a pretty good guess of what he was holding. "It's... a digivice? But it looks nothing like my own."
Were there other types of Digivices out there? Tetsu had just called his own digivice a D-3 and said that it bonded them together. Maybe this was another model.

She sees them walking in a straight line, that's not really her style. And they all got the same heartbeat, but hers is falling behind. Nothing in this world could ever bring them down. Yeah, they're invincible, and she's just in the background.
Avery breathed out a sigh of relief when Hiro said the girl would keep the whole situation silent. She was pretty sure that with being a tamer came a responsibility to keep the Digital World and it's inhabitants a secret from the general public, or there would be a huge reaction similar to this girl's. She continued petting Patch, his purr vibrating through her chest.
Just then, a familiar beeping sound caught her attention. She shifted Patch's weight into one arm and dug into her pocket, pulling out her own grey and white D3 at the same time Hiro did. She blinked and shot a look at him. The sound didn't seem to be coming from his own digivice either. She peered a bit closer to the festive looking device.
Yes, it definitely shared similarities with their own. She remembered finding her digivice on her table where her phone card had been and it had led her straight to Patch.
"I think I've seen one of these before." She paused, closing her eyes as if she was in deep thought then opened them and nodded. "Yup, I've seen one just like this. Well, not just like this. It was a different color. When I found Patch, I ran into a guy who referred to himself as a Spirit Wielder. He really explained a lot about Digimon to me and showed me his Digivice. Ours are called D3, but this is a D-Terminal."
A.J's eyes widened as she came to a realization. "So. that would make you a Spirit Wielder." She shot a worried glance at Hiro, hoping he was ready to calm the girl down again should she have another freak out.

"Digivice? D-Terminal? ...Spirit wielder? What're you talking about?" She asked, worried as she looked at it, not wanting to take the device back from them. The fact the boy had no clue what was going on and the girl looked worried did very little to comfort her as she began to back away. "I-is that a b-bad thing? I-I'll be getting one of those things and everything will be hunky dory, th-that's all... r-right? It'll just go like that and w-we'll be the best of friends, j-just like you two... s-surely you're just s-surprised I'm getting one too, r-right?"
She was in denial, the two would need to word their next few statements carefully if they didn't want her to panic and give them away. She carefully took the digivice back, hoping it wouldn't do something dramatic to her and just point the way.

Hiro looked down at Tetsu to see if the Digimon knew anything. From the shake of his head, the Dorimon knew just as much about the new Digivice as he did. Which was nothing. A.J. seemed to have a bit of knowledge, or at least a name and some idea of what the device meant.
"A spirit user?" Hiro murmured thoughtfully. It was not exactly a very informative name, other than the obvious. "I can't say that I know anything about that. I know a bit about my own model thanks to Tetsu here, but this one is obviously different. So it might work differently as well."
Hiro allowed Carrie to take back the Digivice and held Tetsu up. The Dorimon got the message his partner was trying to send and started talking.
"Sorry, Hiro. I don't know anything about Spirit Users. I know about Tamers but I haven't heard anything about spirits." The digimon said as he looked sad that he couldn't help his new friend.
"Well, it was worth a try I guess." Hiro frowned before turning to Carrie with what he hoped was a reassuring smile. "Hey, don't worry about it. We'll figure this out. I'm sure it'll be alright. And if anything happens... me and Tetsu'll be there to help out."
Hiro sighed and rubbed the back of his head as he said that last part. Tetsu was really getting to him if he was just volunteering to help strangers like this.
"Mhm, me and Hiro'll protect you. We're 'Heroes' after all." Tetsu said cheerfully.

She sees them walking in a straight line, that's not really her style. And they all got the same heartbeat, but hers is falling behind. Nothing in this world could ever bring them down. Yeah, they're invincible, and she's just in the background.
Avery glanced at Hiro, really uncertain on how to answer her question. "Wait, sorry. I was wrong. It's not a D-terminal. This is a D-terminal." She pulled out the little computer she carried around as a second means of communication. "That is called a D-scanner. But I don't know if she gets a partner. The guy that I met that had one like that didn't seem to have a partner, so I don't know." She wasn't sure exactly how Hiro would translate this to the hysteric girl.
She smiled at the girl, trying to keep her upbeat. "Patch and I can try to help too. We're kinda new at the Digimon thing, but if you do have a partner, they're gonna try and protect you no matter what. And they really do become like a best friend. Really, I don't know what I would do without Patch."
"Yeah, I beat those Gazimon and protected her from the Goblimon and I helped fight the Vikaralamon in the Digiworld!" Patch's words all blurred together and A.J. couldn't help but giggled at the little green cat's bubbly attitude. He was so cute sometimes, but he was pretty fierce as she had seen when he digivolved to Leomon in the Digital World.
She couldn't help but wonder what kind of partner this girl would get. Would it be able to put up with her hysterics and calm her down? She sure hoped so. Her and Patch were like day and night, but they still clicked. Hopefully their words were calming her down a bit.

She nodded and pet the two digimon, sighing as she picked up the digivice. "I... um, what's this dot mean?" The digimon-to-be asked, unaware of her fate as a series of monsters. She held it out to show them the screen, a green circle pointing in the general direction of the train station, not seeming to identify the two's digivices.
"...What does this mean?" She asked, putting it back in her pocket. "I mean, you're probably thinking this is a silly question but... I mean, I just..." She looked slightly worried, probably because she felt like a fool for asking such simple questions. Before another question her stomach growled loudly, making her realize why she came up here in the first place. She began to go over to where she left her food, blushing furiously as she did, apologizing the entire way.

As Carrie ran over to her food, Hiro placed Tetsu on the ground and crossed his arms. His face settled into a thoughtful scowled as he started to ponder about the new digivice. The fact that there was a different model meant something. It could be that the digivices were given upgrades like any regular device. That thought was worrying, would his digivice become obsolete sooner or later?
Then there was the second thought driven by A.J.'s comment. There could be different types of tamers that require different devices. It was something common in games, where a different class or race started with a different object or focus. A tamer without a partner, perhaps it was something along the lines of fighting a digimon themselves with the digivice?
The final thought was that perhaps there were different models simply because there were different manufactures. It still didn't answer any questions on where the digivices came from, but it would explain the different shapes.
"Ugh, this is too confusion." Hiro rubbed his face and let the thoughts drift away. There was no point in speculating right now. He couldn't find any answers at the moment so it's not like driving himself crazy with theories would help anyone.
Still, he needed to help as much as possible so it would be good to at least explain what he knew. Hiro fiddled with his D-3 for a bit before the screen lit up with a small grid. The grid showed three dots close together. A dark blue dot that he recognized as his own digivice, a grey dot that matched the color of A.J.s and a green dot that had to be Carrie's.
"The digivices have a map function. They seem to detect digimon and other digivices, I think. I haven't really had a lot of time to experiment with this thing." Well, it was more like he really hadn't wanted to experiment. He had fiddled with it a bit after Tetsu explained that it was a digivice, but then kind of just left it alone. "Though it seems your digivice's map function is different from ours. It's not registering digivices... it looks like it's trying to lead you to something specific."
"Maybe it's your partner." Tetsu offered happily.
Hiro shrugged noncommittally. "Could be." He looked over at A.J. to see if she would add anything.

She sees them walking in a straight line, that's not really her style. And they all got the same heartbeat, but hers is falling behind. Nothing in this world could ever bring them down. Yeah, they're invincible, and she's just in the background.
A.J watched intently as the girl ran back to her own food. She was probably hungry. That reminded her of her own lunch which had been interrupted. Oh well, she wasn't really hungry after the whole escapade. She would probably just give some to Patch and the rest to Hiro and Tetsu. There would always be more at home since her father tended to cook more than needed.
Icy gaze sliding over to Hiro, she noticed that he was scowling, but his expresion was also thoughtful. A.J. guessed that he was probably thinking the same as her. What was the difference between this "D-scanner" and their on D3? She really wished she had more information for the girl. She knew from experience that this whole world could be quite frightening. She had only been immersed a little over a month and there was a lot she didn't know. Like what was going on when they had been in the Digital World last week? She suspected there was something big looming ahead and she was in for a lot more battles.
She shook her head and pulled out her own grey device. It was strange how each device was a different color. Did it mean something? Did the colors on Carrie's mean anything? It seemed to have a few added gadgets that her's and Hiro's did not. Oh well, her's was useful enough to get Patch to digivolve when need be.
When Hiro looked at her for any extra comments, she shrugged. "That's what I was thinking. My Digivice appeared first and I followed the dot on the map to find him. Maybe after school she can go find him or her," she said, casting a glance over at the girl who had went to go get her lunch.
She moved a little closer to Hiro, but not close enough to invade his personal space. She didn't want to freak him out after that "dating" comment they had received from the girl. "What do you think? Is there really anything else we can do to help her? I feel bad for her, cause I know it's all a lot to take in, but...I dunno. There is only so much we can do," she frowned, really wanting to help the girl.

"A p-partner? F-for me? O-oh my... wh-what would they look like? Why would it choose me? I-I mean, n-no offence to you too b-but they're... they're cute and everything b-but I d-don't think I'd want my own..." She looked at the adorable little Dorimon Tetsu was, trying to give a reassuring smile, but it just coming off as a worrying one.
As she began her lunch, she picked up a napkin and began writing something down. "Um... h-here's my home phone number.. I-I dunno what happened to my cell phone because it's now..." She took out the digivice. "A christmas machine... b-but you can call my parents at least..." She mumbled, continuing her meal, worried she might not actually finish it.
Her suspicions were confirmed when the bell rang shortly thereafter. Sighing, bowing to the two and saying her goodbyes, she goes back to her class, not realizing the descent into madness that had just begun.
