Y2K struggled to move his jaw, speaking muffled. "How do that? My mouth goesh open cloesh, is how I chew!" Y2K it seemed didn't know how to keep his mouth closed independently of his jaw.
"Hey, don't mon-handle him. Be gentle with the little guy." Rai appealed to the Angemon. "Show him how you chew. I don't think he's bothered noticing; maybe he could figure out how to copy you."
Rai didn't have any food he had to eat at the moment, so it would be difficult for him to demonstrate for his partner.
Y2K continued to angle the backs of his hands around at odd ways here and there, in-fact looking around.
He might become distressed if Alucard continued to hold onto him like this.

Alucard pulled his hand away quickly even though he was being gentle and Y2K could of easily pulled away but seeing him stressed caused him to feel guilty for upsetting the Keramon. Looking at Rai he said "I'm sorry. Mon-handling him was not my intention. I keep forgetting not all youngsters are the same sometimes." Then when Rai suggested showing him how he chewed. Thinking it wasn't a bad idea he took some food from his own plate before putting it in his mouth before closing his mouth and chewing with his mouth closed.
Poseidon smiled as he said "See it's easy. You put the food in your mouth before closing it and while keeping your mouth closed move your jaws so your teeth can properly grind up your food so you can swallow it. That and it won't accidentally fall out if you get distracted." Poseidon them proceeded to copy Alucard by putting some food in his mouth as well and chewing it with his mouth closed.

Y2K looked at his new friends in confusion as if they were performing some kind of magic trick. He swallowed what he'd been chewing and tried pinching his almost permanently rictus face, holding his thin lips closed with his large, long fingers and trying to do this motion of chewing without letting his lips slip out of his fingers.
This was much harder than Y2K thought Alucard and Poseidon were making it look, as several times his lips slipped out of his fingers, and his mouth would open up as before.
"Hmm." During this exercise he came the closest to forming a new expression that was different than his default vacant smile than he'd ever managed to reach before. Weird.
Unfortunately, his lips being thin and with little experience with fine manipulation of them, his lips and the hinge of his jaw were seemingly fighting each other rather than working together.
Eventually motes of liquid began to pool at all six of his flat, mark-like eyes (two on his face, two under his face, and two on the backs of his over-sized hands) as he began to become upset with not being able to do this immediately, thinking the others might be mad or disappointed in him.
Rai would pat him on the head between his antenna. "Its okay buddy. Maybe try only opening your jaw part of the way when you chew, instead of opening all the way each time. It might be easier."

Alucard and Poseidon watched Y2K tried to mimic how they were chewing but seemed to be struggling with it despite obviously trying his best. Alucard looked in deep thought as he observed the Keramon as a strange expression appeared on his face. "It's okay. Sometimes new things take time to learn. With more practice you should gradually get better." Alucard said with a tone that was gentle by his terms and the Angemon didn't look disappointed or angry so maybe Y2K would calm down a bit.
"Rai has a point. I keep forgetting some digimon have rather unique jaws compared to others." Alucard then said as he continued eating.
Meanwhile an idea came to Poseidon's mind and he said "Perhaps when you partly open your jaw when you chew you can start with somewhat smaller portions so it would be easier to chew." Even Poseidon seemed to be trying to encourage Y2K so maybe that would help the Keramon as well.

Y2K listened to Rai and Poseidon and considered the remaining third of his burger. Though he wanted to eat it as quickly as possible, he none the less resisted the urge to cookie monster it and tried to bite off only roughly a third of what remained, and to chew more carefully with smaller motions.
He tried pinching his lips shut like before, with modestly more success with the whole keeping his mouth closed thing than before. At least his method of chewing attracted less attention.
Y2K still seemed frustrated as he tried his best however, not fully managing the task. He just wanted to eat. He'd never thought about there being a way to eat right...
Rai kept patting him on the head however, which made him happier. Pet pat pot.
The boy for his part was focusing on his partner, trying to make him feel reassured that he was doing better than before.
If Y2K was full at the end of this meal it meant there were ways to feed him without going back to the human world. That alone was revolutionary.
"Do you think we could find food like this in most towns?" Rai asked Lilamon with deceptively passing sounding interest. "Like with the high data content?"

As Alucard and Poseidon finished eating Y2K went about trying his best to eat as instructed. Sure he was having some trouble even looking a bit frustrated. Taking notice of this Poseidon smiled and, in an assuring tone, the Gomamon said "Don't feel to bad, Y2K. You did good for your first attempt."
Alucard then took notice of the fact that Rai was patting the Keramon on the head which seemed to be making him feel better. Then Alucard thought of something and reached into his back pulling out a kiwi before offering it to Y2K as he said "Cheer up. Here have this. It has a nice sweet flavour underneath the fuzzy skin. It's called a kiwi."
Then he asked the Lilamon if there was food with high data content in most towns and she said "Yes there are foods like that. What also may help is getting a field guide to wild plants that naturally have high data content as well as certain types of seafood."

Y2K looked at Poseidon as he spoke and said "Thanksh!" with his mouth full.
"Try to swallow before you speak Y2K." commented Rai before looking back to the Lilamon. "Can I buy that in town?"
Y2K swallowed what was in his craw and asked "What if I don't have food in my mouth?"
"Then you don't need to swallow." stated Rai blankly, surprised he needed to answer this.
"What if I'm not done chewing when people are talking to me?" asked the Keramon.
"Maybe wait to speak?" Rai wasn't sure how well that would always work. But one could try.
Y2K turned his attention to the fruit Alucard offered him, poking at it with his antenna.
"Thank you!" he said before opening his mouth wide and looking like he was going to try to nom it directly from Alucard's hand when Rai pushed his head back a bit.
"Y2K it would be nice to Alucard if you took it with your fingers." Rai said flatly. Thus sparing Alucard's.
Y2K cheerfully replied with "Okay!" and plucked the kiwi from the angel's hand with his thumb and fore finger.
"Thank you!" he repeated loudly before popping the fruit in his mouth whole and proceeding to do his best to chew with as subtle motions as he could manage, while pinching his lips together. It was a start certainly.
Rai gave Alucard another relaxed smile in appreciation. If his parents saw him smile this much unironically they might suspect there was something wrong with him... well something else wrong with him.

Lilamon looked at Y2K briefly smiling at the Keramon before looking back at Rai when he asked a question and said "Don't worry. You can get such a thing in various towns. Never hurts to be prepared for future trips to the Digital World."
While the interaction between Rai and Y2K took place Poseidon observed them with a smile while he finished up his food before he asked "Hey, Rai. Is Y2K always this silly? Not that it's a big deal since he is a nice enough guy but I'm just curious." Alucard continued eating while shaking his head at his son but at least his curiosity was innocent enough and he didn't need to step in. After all Poseidon was normally well behaved which the angel was truly grateful for.
Apparently the offered fruit perked the Keramon's attention and he tried to grab it with his antenna only for Rai to suggest Y2K to take the fruit with his fingers. When Y2K thanked Alucard the angel said "You're welcome, Y2K. Don't worry about not being perfect. It takes time and practice to master new things. I'm sure there are something that you are good at though, right?"

Rai nodded to Lilamon, resolving to acquire such a book before leaving Rustport. Having such a thing would be a large help if Y2K kept dragging him on blind adventures through the digital world. Where was Rai's sense of adventure? He apparently didn't need any; Y2K so far had enough for both of them.
"I mean... he's behaving normally yeah." said Rai to Poseidon. "As normal as Y2K gets--which I guess is enough for me at any rate."
Sighing he looked to the exchange between Alucard and Y2K.
Y2K took the Angemon's wisdom with an "Okay." before being prompted for something he was good at. Normally he might say 'eating' but it turns out he wasn't as good at that as he'd thought. "Making friends?" he supplied hopefully.
Rai almost wanted to say 'getting us into trouble' but he knew it wouldn't be productive. He certainly wasn't bad at making friends. Although some like the Ogremon and Goblimon won't be susceptible to his goofy grin and friendly attitude.
Y2K put half of his remaining burger in his mouth, likely to finish it next time he returned to it and repeated the process he performed for the last mouthful before the Kiwi was introduced..

"It's a good thing he is so friendly. That means he'll probably be fine when he digivolves to much higher forms. Knowing how strong Keramon can get maybe he can grow up to protect others like how Dad and I do for others." Poseidon said as he took in Rai's appearance before he said "I noticed that you and Dad seem to be similar in many ways from your serious attitude to caring for a small goofy companion. Only Dad comes off as cold and aloof when he speaks. I'm used to it though so it doesn't bother me. The most emotion I usually hear in his voice is when he is trying to calm an upset youngster."
Alucard nodded at Y2K as the Keramon mentioned his talent was making friends. Nodding Alucard said "It's a good talent to have, Y2K, and with more experience you'll be even better at doing so. You already seem better at making friends than a loner like me."

"I--" Rai hesitated. "I'm... honestly not used to allowing feeling much at all. Let alone being expressive... at least it's been-- or was that way for a long time... if Y2K has been the one slowly chipping away at my shell... I'm afraid what happened today shattered it. Right now I'm... trying to be the only way I know how to be. Even if right now, I'm not sure if its honest or not." Rai explained. It was an interesting place to be to be sure.
"I help Rai feel things!" Y2K chirped before shoveling the last portion of his burger into his face, and this time covering his mouth with his hands so one couldn't see the chewing he was doing. "And Rai helpsh me do everything!" He declared through a full mouth.
Rai very gently bonked the Keramon on the head. "Chew, swallow, then speak." hadn't he just been over that?
Y2K dutifully returned to practicing his chewing and looked between the others with his many decal-like eyes. Chew-chew-chew.
"I understand you only did for us what you would do for anyone... but its hard not to feel deeply indebted to you." Rai spoke. "I really hope there will be someway we can help you two in the future."

"Believe me. I know what it's like when it comes to not being open with ones feelings. I also know what it's like to have someone chipping away at that shell. Sure I was hesitant at first to raise Poseidon but I don't regret the choice I made. If anything Poseidon has been helpful for me. I may come off as cold and aloof but I have started to emote more since Poseidon came into my life. I don't know how to describe it but it seems at some level my heart has healed somewhat from it's traumas." Alucard said. Sure in the beginning all he wanted was revenge but now he didn't know what he wanted exactly other than wanting to stop the foe he'd been hunting from harming someone else. He was still not strong enough though so there was more training that needed to be done.
"We are alike in many ways, Y2K. You and Rai help each other while I and Dad help each other." Poseidon said as he watched the Keramon shove the rest of the burger into his mouth.
"Maybe one day the opportunity to help us will present itself." Alucard said before finishing off his own food. Poseidon was finishing his food as well.

Rai nodded to Alucard while Y2K began to bounce around like a bobble head doll in agreement with Poseidon.
Rai turned around to look at Y2K. "Are you full?" he asked plainly.
"I could use a snack! Kekekeke!" the Keramon cackled.
Rai sighed. "I'll take that as a yes." it meant Y2K was peckish--which he always was--but didn't need a meal.
Rai stood up and lifted Y2K up off the seat. "We going now?" Y2K asked seemingly disappointed.
"We are." Rai confirmed. "I don't know about you buddy, but I need some time to rest and think back home."
Y2K drooped but Rai wasn't persuaded. Rai checked his digivice and saw the Digi-Port was available before putting it in his pocket. "I'm going to see if I can find one of those guide books before heading to the Trailmon.
"Thanks again."
With that Rai and Y2K left the Chili not expecting to be followed.

Poseidon watched as Y2K bounced his head in a curious manner but said nothing about it. The young Gomamon had already accepted that Y2K was a quirky Keramon so any strange behaviors didn't bother him. Y2K even mentioned needing a snack indicating him being quite the bottomless pit once again.
Soon both Rai and Y2K made their way out with Rai mentioning that he would look for a guide book before boarding a Trailmon. When Rai said thanks again Alucard quietly nodded in acknowledgement as the tamer and digimon left. Looking back at his son Alucard said "Poseidon, finish your food while I find a hotel to stay at. We'll be leaving town tomorrow."
Poseidon nodded and went back to focusing on his food while his father left the building and after some time had passed Poseidon was now finished eating and waiting by the door as the Angemon returned. Alucard went to pay for their food before leaving with his son to the hotel he found.
