Rai once again was letting Y2K drag him on an ‘adventure’ through the middle of absolute digital nowhere. It was literally a barren waste, filled with rocks, dirt as dark as rocks, and brown skeletal bushes. He was surprised he hadn’t seen a tumbleweed yet.
Then up ahead he saw what looked like an Ogremon and three smaller goblin-like digimon. Despite looking scary, the only Ogremon they’d met so far was a kind seamstress. So naturally Y2K approached with no fear and plenty of excitement, assuming this Ogremon would also be friendly.
Rai on the other hand noted the Ogremon was equipped with not only a club, but a whip.
“Hellllooooo!” Y2K hollered as he waved his large hand over his head at the green group
Instantly the look of annoyance on the Goblimon was apparent. The Ogremon however turned and asked “Hello? What do you want?” a tad impatient and a tad bemused. Then he pointed at Rai. “Is that your pet?
Rai was dumbfounded. The green giant was asking if he was Y2K’s pet? Y2K on the other hand looked around naively and cheerfully said. “I don’t have any pets!”
The Ogremon looked at Rai like he was some sort of interesting lizard. “So what is it you want?” he asked Y2K, “You have some sorta business with us? Or are you just here to annoy me?”
“He just wants to make friends.” Rai stated blandly.
“Huah? This pink thing a friend of yours then? Pah! You think you're funny? Can’t you see how scary we are? Are you mocking our intimidating stature by saying we look friendly!? C’mon boys, let's show this jellyfish how friendly we are! PUMMEL WHACK!” Ogremon cried as it punched the air and launched a dark flame in the shape of its face at Y2K.
The Keramon narrowly evaded the worst of the attack, but was still blasted aside, as Rai now with narrowed eyes, pulled out his digivice and recited the words;
“Digi Armor Energize…”
As Rai presented his D3, the D -Terminal in his pocket produced the Digi-Egg of Stoicism that flew to join with the Keramon.
“Keramon Armor Digivolve TO:” Y2K called out as he merged himself with the Digimental,
“GIZUMON, The Stoic Machine.” he buzzed in a metallic voice.
A short battle erupted between Gizumon and Ogremon, where Gizumon released a string of debilitating attacks, while Ogremon pummeled him with his club to less than average effect but with repeated ferocity. Gizumon may have won if the Goblimon hadn’t decided to join in, grabbing his wires, and pulling down on them, creating an opening for Ogremon to launch another face-flame-fist crying,
“PUMMEL WHACK!” causing Y2K to make a buzzer-like sound as the dark fire was shown to have full effect. The trio Goblimon continued to pull on his wires from behind, while beating his back with their smaller clubs.
Unable to focus on both a rear and frontal defense, Y2K sliced at Ogremon’s club with his AT-Helix, while only succeeding in lopping off a lopsided chunk off the end of it, now giving it another sharp point.
His armor was battered severely but holding when Ogremon repeated its most effective attack,
“PUMMEL WHACK!”
Taking the potent purple flame once more, his metal frame cracked and Y2K was forced to revert to a battered and unmoving rookie form, which Ogremon punted away.
“How friendly are we now?” Ogremon asked mockingly while he advanced on the fallen Digimon.
Seeing this caused something in Rai to break-- something that had gone unbroken for years and now-- “Y2K!” he screamed, calling out to his partner…
Y2K failed to respond, prompting Rai to rush to Y2K, recklessly covering him with his own body,
“Y2K!” he cried out to his partner desperately before a whip cracked across his back, sudden excruciating pain causing him to scream.
“Out of the way pink thing!” commanded Ogremon, lashing Rai with his whip again in an attempt to get him to move.
But desperately repeating Y2K’s name with more and more emotion, Rai clung protectively to his unconscious friend while his back was repeatedly struck with Ogremon’s whip, shredding his shirt, and fracturing his ribs.
“Hey! Hey move!” commanded the Ogremon, not understanding Rai’s actions.
But Rai couldn’t hear past the blood rushing in his head, the pain, and the irrational all consuming drive to protect his partner. He was hurt. He wasn’t moving… Why wasn’t he moving? “Y2K!!” he cried as all of his walls crumbled around him.
Rai’s bones were breaking, but he desperately tried to protect the Keramon with his body, unaware or uncaring that if the Ogremon wanted him dead, it would have been over instantly. If anything the Champion Level was being gentle.
Ogremon closed the distance and began to poke and prod Rai’s back, “Hey! Move already! This is between Digimon!” but as damaged as he was, each jab of Ogremon’s finger was as agonizing as the whip from before.
“I won’t let you… He’s not moving, just leave him alone!” he cried with unsuppressed outrage, fear and pain. It couldn’t end like this. Y2K wasn’t moving. Had he ever breathed to begin with? No… no no no no…
Finally as Rai’s tears fell on his partner, Y2K’s enormous head began to turn jerkily as if his neck was made of damaged clockwork. “Rai… don’t cry Rai…”
Tired of this however, Ogremon just flicked Rai out of the way, sending him sprawling in the dust. “He’s moving now.”
Broken and battered, Rai still reached for Y2K’s outstretched hand as a prismatic light suddenly shone from his D3 and bathed his partner in a radiance that reinvigorated Y2K, rising into the air, now wrapped by ribbons of light, and spinning rapidly.
“Keramon Digivolve TO:” he called out as the ribbons of light, for a moment completely covered him in an egg-like shape before unraveling to reveal a form Rai had never seen before.
“Chrysalimon!” declared what was now a large flying blue cocoon with no less than six tendrils emerging from its back, ending in what looked like large yellow knives.
Chrysalimon?
“Rai? Do you think I can win?” the evolved Y2K asked his battered tamer.
What a strange, odd, and terribly stupid question… that somehow, Rai felt warranted what seemed at the time, a strange, odd, and terribly stupid answer.
“Yes.”

The Goblimon trio made a three pronged rush at Y2K, while Ogremon wound up his fist.
“Pummel--” started Ogremon
“Chrysalis Thorn!” interrupted Y2K, firing off the yellow spikes around his collar.
“--Wha--?” finished Ogremon as he had to stop to swat the projectile coming at him out of the air.
Two of the Goblimon had been struck in the faces and torsos respectively, however and were badly injured.
Ogremon shot his fist through the air with a “PUMMEL WHACK!”, firing his face-flame at Y2K.
Chrysalimon took the hit from the ogre flame before calling “Misconnecting!” shooting into the air and rocketing down onto Ogremon, to crush him with his shell.
Ogremon caught and grappled with the chrysalis digimon-- that was remarkably heavy for something that floated through the air. “I can still take you--GAAH!”
Ogremon felt a sharp pain in his belly as he realized Y2K’s stinger was buried deep in his green flesh. “What the?!”
“Viral Enzyme!” cried Y2K, injecting harmful data directly into Ogremon’s body before the green giant threw the dangerous cocoon away from himself grunting as the stinger was ripped out. “Get off!”
The remaining Goblimon made a run for it while Y2K cried out the name of his next move, “Data Crusher!” as he sliced his tendril blades through Ogremon’s own configuration data.
Ogremon now severely injured, being eaten away by the virus injected by Chrysalimon’s stinger and only able to move at a sluggish pace due to damage to his configuration data, began to plead for, “Mercy…”
But Y2K wasn’t moved.
“I don’t eat Mercy.”
“E-eat? You don’t mean--No! Anything but that!” Ogremon didn't want to be loaded! He tried to turn around to run, but was in no condition to escape.
Taking advantage of the exposed back, Y2K lashed at Ogremon repeatedly with his tendrils, imitating what was done to Rai until the green champion’s data began to unravel.
Y2K without hesitating proceeded to ravenously load about 50% of Ogremon’s data before letting the rest go.
Rai didn't catch all of that, having been unable to move without horrible pain, "Y2K..."
Y2K hovered over Rai while his Tamer managed to send out an SOS signal with his digivice, knowing he wasn't in a condition to hop through a digi port.

LOG
Data Crusher: Slices at the opponent's configuration data with the tentacles extending from its back. This results in 50% movement lag as internal settings are maladjusted along with otherwise harmless visual irregularities, such as pixelation, discoloration, or texture swaps. (4 post cooldown, 2 post duration).
Misconnecting: Flies up in the air and squashes the enemy with its large body. It's just a bodyslam. Alternatively flings itself directly towards the enemy as a body check.
Viral Enzyme: Stabs the enemy with its stinger and injects harmful data. Injected data works to steadily deal continuous damage to the enemy's insides. (4 post duration. OPT).
Chrysalis Thorn: Fires one or more of the spikes that form its ‘collar’ as deadly projectiles, afterwards the spikes quickly appear to grow back or be replaced from within.

Flying swiftly over the desert an Angemon named Alucard was making his way in the direction of a distress signal he had picked up. He had left his son Poseidon in Rustport since it was clear that his Gomamon child was not all that fond of the desert climate. He wasn't worried since his son was more than capable of taking care of himself so that made leaving him behind easier.
Soon the vampire hunting angel digimon spotted signs of a struggle from the air as he slowed down. Soon he spotted two injured Goblimon but what was more concerning was there was a pretty badly hurt human near a digimon that appeared to be a Chrysalimon. Not wanting to leap to conclusions but also not being naive he landed near the injured human his wings spread the sunlight making the wings shimmer more. With his typically aloof appearance he looked more imposing than normal.
"If you are responsible for harming this human then I promise that I will not be merciful." Alucard said in his typical cold tone.

Y2K looked up at Angemon with hostility at first, but then listened to his words. "Nnnoh!" he said as if one was asking a child to let go of something they found.
"This is my partner Rai! Fight is over! Ogremon is gone, but Rai is still hurt!" the giant floating cocoon angled itself to look back at Rai. "Rai protected me. " And then Y2K digivolved to protect him.
Rai couldn't see what Y2K was talking to. He couldn't move to get a better look. "Don't hurt... Y2K... he's telling... the truth." Rai panted, breathing shallowly to nurse his broken ribs. "Help us... I can't stand..."
Y2K would look back to Angemon. "Help, Yes please! I don't have hands!" And he had no idea how long his new form would last. "Only sharp and pointy things! Not helpful, not helpful!" he repeated waving his blade tipped tendrils.
Rai sighed, listening to Y2K. It sounded like he was still himself after all. Then he regretted the breath he had to take afterwards.

The reaction the Chrysalimon had after the hostile posture was not what Alucard was expecting as the champion level digimon now sounded surprisingly child like but Alucard was able to piece together that there was once an Ogremon and the human, whose name was apparently Rai, was the Chrysalimon's partner who called himself Y2K.
Then Rai confirmed Y2K's words and Alucard eased his posture to a neutral one before turning to the injured human. He then knelt down and in a slightly gentler but still cold tone said "Don't make any sudden movements. Those ribs are in rough shape. They appear to definitely be broken."
Alucard then glanced back at Y2K waving his blade tipped tentacles before he patiently said "Calm down young one. Have you tried dedigivolving?" Then he glanced back at Rai who seemed to be regretting the sigh he took and gently rested a hand on the teen's shoulder before he asked "Before I take you to Rustport were I left my son can you tell me what happened?"

Y2K paused thinking about how to de-digivolve. Uh... before it was something like... hmm... Did he forget?
"Y2K ran up to... the digimon... and tried to befriend them... in his usual manner... running and screaming Hello... the digimon... an Ogremon and three Goblimon... took exception... that... Y2K thought they... were less then terrifying..."
"Then Ogremon threw his face at me, but his face was made of fire, and also it wasn't really his face." threw in Y2K who it looked like had just remembered how to de-digivolve and proceeded to shrink back down into the form of a 3.5 foot Keramon.
"And then we armor digivolved to Gizumon to fight Ogremon, but the Goblimon joined in and I lost." continued Y2K.
"And after that... Y2K wasn't moving... and I had a bit of a meltdown..." A bit of a meltdown? Understating it was probably natural...
"Rai protected me and thats how he got hurt! And then Chrysalimon!" finished a distressed Keramon.
"Yeah that... was a new one... but he won that time..." Rai managed. He wasn't sure what exactly happened to Ogremon... but it sounded like Y2K may have eaten him. He wasn't gonna mention that if he could avoid it.

Alucard listened patiently as both Rai and Y2K explained what happened. It seemed that the two of them had gotten involved in a fight with an Ogremon and three Goblimon but it began innocently with Y2K trying to make friends with the Ogremon and Goblimon. Y2K's description of Ogremon's attack made Alucard think it sounded like the attack called Pummel Whack. Then after that, as if remembering how to dedigivolve, returned to his rookie stage of Keramon.
"I understand how facing multiple opponents can be frightening especially if you lose." Alucard said as it brought up an unpleasant memory of some weird human/digimon hybrids that were killing innocent digimon and he wasn't strong enough to stop them. He honestly didn't know how he, Poseidon, and all others involved survived.
Alucard looked around not seeing any trace of Ogremon making the angel think that something may of happened to the Ogremon's data but since it was in self defense Alucard wasn't going to damn Y2K for doing what he needed to do to keep himself and his partner safe.
Alucard looked down trying to figure out how to best move Rai and said "Rai was it? I'm going to lift you but it may be quite painful given the shape you are in. If only I had a healing move than I would of been able to heal you here."

"I didn't want to fight them. They were mean about it." spoke Y2K. He looked to the two severely injured Goblimon who would likely disappear on their own if nothing was done to help them. Y2K dangled his body backwards at them, displaying his frowning face the only way he knew how-- by literally turning his smile upside down and revealing two more eyes on what would normally be the underside of his face.
"As long as you... don't mind if I scream... I'll just be grateful if... I don't die out here... Can you carry Y2K too? I think he... could have flown with you... when he was bigger... but..." he managed, trying reassert his usual stoicism, knowing full well it would likely be broken the moment this angelic digimon picked him up.
Y2K straightened up to look at the Angemon again. He didn't like the idea that the holy Digimon could just fly away with Rai and leave him behind. Besides, he didn't necessarily know his way back to Rustport. He'd been counting on the use of the Digi-Port to get home.

"Sadly not all digimon are nice. If that were the case a lot of suffering would not exist in both the Digital and Human Worlds." Alucard said in the gentle tone he usually used on children or frightened humans. He figured his normal cold tone was not the best to use in this situation.
"If you have to scream I wouldn't blame you so don't worry. As for carrying your partner Y2K, I can do that too. He can ride on my back as long as he doesn't mess with my feathers." Alucard said as he gently reached his arms underneath Rai and slowly lifted the human into his arms gently cradling him in both arms while slowly rising to his feet.
Now all Alucard had to do was wait for Y2K to climb on his back. Sure he had to fly slower than he normally did but this didn't upset him. Right now he was more concerned about both Rai and Y2K.

Y2K climbed onto the Angemon's back, wrapping his numerous tendrils around the Holy Digimon's waist while Y2K's head and arms dangled behind. He was not touching or in the way of the wings, that he had made certain of. "Is this okay?" asked the Keramon. It might earn points for creativity at least.
Rai just tried to brace himself for the pain, though that by itself hurt as he tensed up. No, tensing up was a mistake. That would make it worse. He needed to relax-- How the heck was he going to relax?
Y2K was filled with anxiety about Rai and his condition, and even guilt over how he became that way. This wasn't supposed to happen. He had listened to the Angemon's words about how not all digimon were nice, forcing Y2K to remember FlameWizardmon again.
But the Ogremon back then had been nice-- it meant not every Digimon was the same as other members of their species. Digimon were like humans in that way... he supposed. Did that mean there was mean Angel digimon too? This one was helping them, so they had to be good right?

Alucard waited as Y2K carefully climbed onto his back wrapping multiple tendrils around him which was a curious sensation but not unpleasant. At least he was being mindful of his six wings. When Y2K asked if that was okay, Alucard said "Yes. Though I have to admit I have never been embraced by a digimon with tendrils before."
Rai, meanwhile, seemed to be bracing himself only to result in him tensing up and Alucard said "Easy there. Tensing up will only make the pain worse." His tone of voice was surprisingly kind and gentle which surprised him so how were Y2K and Rai going to react?
Getting a vibe that Y2K was tense he glanced over his shoulder and said "Don't worry. Your tamer Rai will be fine. When we get to Rustport we'll be able to find him some medical attention." Though he didn't know these two his instincts were telling him that Y2K was pretty young so his natural protective tendencies toward children were kicking in which now made sense why he was talking more gently with both Rai and Y2K.

"Yeah... I realize that... but relaxing... easier said... than done..." said Rai trying to relax his body and succeeding somewhat. At the very least it was better than nothing. While he was relaxed as much as he could, his left hand remained clutched around his digivice as if it was his lifeline.
Y2K was seemingly reassured by this, but was still anxious to get to Rustport so that could happen.
"Okay." he said, dangling from the Angemon's waist. "Do you have a name Angemon? Or are you Angemon?" he asked curiously.
Rai didn't want to be impatient, so he tried to just relax until the talking was over. The idea hadn't occured to him that the Angemon might have a name. Some digimon did and some didn't it seemed.

Alucard didn't say anything to Rai when he said relaxing was easier said than done but tried to relax his body somewhat succeeding. Alucard noticed how Rai was clutching his digivice tightly but didn't judge the human for it as he understood those machines were basically a lifeline for tamers, spirit wielders, and xros generals.
Just as Alucard was about to take flight Y2K, from his spot dangling from Alucard's waist, asked if he had a name or was he just called Angemon. A faint smile appeared on Alucard's face before he said "I suppose asking me if I have a name is fair since I know your names. My name is Alucard."
Then Alucard flapped his wings carefully taking flight but still moving fairly fast but not fast enough to dislodge Y2K as it was clear that the little one would not be comfortable with letting his injured partner out of his sight. In a way Alucard understood since he had a son that he left in Rustport. When Poseidon was smaller he would of never felt right leaving his son on his own.

Rai was in severe pain the moment he was lifted from the ground, but eventually he was able to speak. "Alucard huh...? Like... Dracula backwards...?" he didn't think the name fit at all. "No offense meant... but in my world... that name is... usually given to... characters... rather than... real people... and they tend to... the... 'son of Dracula'... or Dracula... himself..." he paused for a moment to grit his teeth in pain.
"And Dracula's this... big wig vampire... in fiction... literature and movies... so you think vampires... you think Dracula..." he managed to say trying not to breathe sharply.
"...Please tell me there aren't vampire digimon..." he said quickly in single breath all at once. From what he'd seen of the digital world, vampire digimon would probably be a thing. He wondered if it could be some rule of the network... if it exists there's a digimon of it... but he didn't want vampires to be a thing...
"I don't know what a vampire or a literature is!" said Y2K as if that was helpful... great Rai thought. He needed to start reading to the little guy. But hadn't he been able to read things like signs before? Maybe he knows how to read, and just doesn't have a concept of literature.

When Rai spoke Alucard nodded along as it was clear that Rai not only got but understood the reference that Alucard's name was. "Don't worry. While I share the name with the son of Dracula I am not a vampire." Alucard said gently. Then when Rai said Please tell me there aren't vampire digimon Alucard said "Just as there are angels and demons in the Digital World there are also vampires. I spend time hunting and fighting the vampires that mean harm to others as well as training my son in my field."
Then Alucard's holy ring began to glow. While most Angemon didn't normally possess true holy rings somehow he did. Maybe it had something to do with his previous life as a Cherubimon and could explain why his son Poseidon also possessed a holy ring of his own.
Then when Y2K revealed that he didn't know what a vampire or literature was, Alucard said "Vampires in literature are humanoid monsters in movies and books that get nutrients from sucking blood from their victims. While vampire digimon function in a similar way they can also eat normal food to get the nutrients they need. At least that's how the good vampire digimon behave."
Then a glow from the ground caught Alucard's eye causing the Angemon to look down and saw his son Poseidon walking through the desert occasionally looking up as if looking for his father the holy ring around the Gomamon's neck also glowing brightly. Just what was going on?

So... he's like the version of Alucard from Castlevania kinda... Thought Rai. Learning there were vampire digimon wasn't surprising, even if he wanted it to be. But learning there were good vampire digimon?
Well... he supposed he was once told Keramon and his line weren't conventionally seen as good-guy types either... and that at higher levels they supposedly tended towards megalomania and a drive toward the apocalyptical; but also that those traits were things that could be overcome.
With that in mind, why couldn't a vampire digimon overcome their own negative programming that came with their particular species? It just sounded like something that came pre-coded in the configurations belonging to those forms. That didn't mean it came hard coded though right?
Then Rai became aware something was glowing, leading him to gingerly look over to Alucard's wrist. Was it a magic bracelet?
Y2K however with his odd eye placements noticed both the glowing on Alucard and the similar glowing of a Gomamon below. "You have matching loops!" declared Y2K. Well uh... he wasn't wrong?
