Oh how different it was..
It had been only a few months since K had entered the city but to her it had felt like years. She stood upon the border of whitewater, staring at it for a long period of time. So long in fact some guards came by to check what was going on, the appearance of a strange rookie digimon of course wasn't the first or last thing they'd likely deal with today. She'd of course apologize the best she could for the moment before moving on...
She had already drawn enough attention as it was, from many different mons. Some vaccines noticed her sigil on her arm and seemed to be surprised; while many a virus type backed away from her expecting some kind of retribution from merely being nearby. But rather than doing anything dramatic she simply walked on, giving small waves to those that greeted her and walking quickly towards her destination.
It took her maybe fifteen minutes of walking to get through the crowds, the crazy bustle of the marketplace was something she wasn't used to. Thankfully there was no real reason for her to stop there as she wasn't hungry and she most certainly didn't have the money to deal with anything here. Most of her finances had gone to the wind at this point... Which was fine if not saddening.
She paused out in front of a very familiar clinic, staring at it quietly for a small spell. She took in it's appearance for much longer than last time. She never really took a good look at it, giving it just passing glances even though it was a familiar place. Was this a place she would defend in the future? A place she would call home? A place that she had rested and been cared for already... so wouldn't that already make it her home?
There was a soft but silent sigh and she'd slowly walk to the door, placing her hand on the door handle before pulling [or pushing?] it open. She was greeted with the familiar sight of the lobby, that she had been in a few times now. There was never a time that she had come here without a problem weighing heavily on her shoulders. But this time certainly was different.
She was a whole person, someone who had spent so long. Fought so long, and thought for so long about the things that made her and made those around her function. Within it she found peace on her own, within that time she found her seven. While it wasn't as profound as others she imagined it was important to her in almost every way.
The white fox stepped over the threshold and swiftly closed the door behind her if no one was looking to enter. After a moment or two she'd head over to the desk gazing around the area once more before turning her attention to the one that would no doubt be attending it. Her voice was soft, but laced with power; almost motherly...
"Is Mikemon here?"

She had said near the end of the month, right?
Give or take a few days, that was about the time that Mikemon had expected to see K again, in earnest. It had been quite a wild ride, between his few visits to her place of meditation to her complete disappearance to the northern lands. What was supposed to be a calm period of meditation had turned to quite the varied experience for the Renamon, but it felt much more comforting when K's aura radiated calmly from the nearby woods. No matter how many bows she got, no matter how many shied away, there was at least one in this town that always wanted to see her.
As K pushed through the front door, it was late enough in the afternoon that the doctor wasn't expecting more patients. Hearing the bell as the door opened, the Stingmon gave a brief look up from his newspaper, quietly folding and setting the piece aside to properly greet the Renamon. And of course, she asked in the doctor was in.
Giving a nod, the Stingmon tapped a finger down on the intercom: "Doctor? You have a visitor."
"Another one?" The cat gave a tired sigh, but the Stingmon did not elaborate: sitting back in his chair, he simply sat back and waited, as the doctor came out to the front. Rubbing a tired eye, the Mikemon gave an idle blink of the door, wondering just who was coming at this...
... Hour... of the...
"K!" The cat's ears adjusted themselves straight up, the cat quickly brushing through the fur on his arms to tidy himself up, just a touch. He gave a slightly embarrassed, slightly nervous chuckle, as he moved a hand back to scratch the back of his head. "Sorry, you just caught me between something - but please, come on in." He gave a nod to the back, so the two could head on back to the upstairs lodging. "How's it been since the last time I saw you?"
Hopefully there hadn't been any more spire incidents since then!

Two months it had been since she had decided to meditate, since her triage of cores because two and then three again. While her meditation wasn't perfect and there were certainly a number of inconsistencies that drew her away... Well. They in the end led to her only finding more and more truth of her own design. More and more Keys, eventually which lead to something...
Different
The renamon wasn't surprised to see that the attendee was the stingmon. He was a staple here, he was one of the individuals she could trust at a certain level. As the person who likely trusted him more was the Doctor himself. Else they wouldn't be working here; they would not be working for the mikemon. She was rather interested to know how they had met but... That wasn't her point of the visit; nor did she feel like she had to pry into this particular digimon's life.
She'd bristle a little bit upon hearing the voice of the Doctor from the intercom. He sounded tired, was his day truly that long? She'd quirk a brow upon seeing the Cat and that was quickly followed by a warm smile. It amused her just a little bit to see his reaction; she knew he cared for her deeply and the same could be said of her.
"Hello there Mikemon. You look like you've had a busy day."
There was a soft chuckle and she'd come over to him, her tail swishing and her cloak trailing behind her. The renamon paused a bit and glanced back at the stingmon giving him a small nod before following after the Mikemon.
"It's all right, I knew you'd likely be working when I came back. You're much busier than I am."
There was a soft chuckle and an affectionate pat on the head. He certainly wasa busy bee compared to her, perhaps if she was still an innkeeper she'd have the same level of busy that he did or perhaps she wouldn't. It wasn't that important anymore; she...
She had moved on.
"It's been a trip I suppose. Both figuratively and literally. Because of all the interactions and time I had to myself I realized a great many things. Each more true than the last."
There was a small pause and at the top of the stairs would only be when she'd address this particular fact.
"I have and understand all seven keys Mikemon. It's... unlike anything I've ever experienced before. It's uplifting and... Once I've managed to get a hold of it a little better I have... Well. I have another form I wish to show you but it's... Something I can't explain it too well. Words do it no justice."

Sheesh, the cat looked that bad? Giving a small chuckle back to the Renamon, the Mikemon continued to lead. "Not so much today, as it has been the last week or so. Between a few out-of-office errands, I had honestly planned today to get my schedule back in order. But of course, I had to meet with a few patients today..."
It was a full and fulfilling day of work, and with just a small yawn, the feline managed to level himself. He gave a slight lean back into that patting paw, as the cat drew a key from his glove. The conversation would carry as the two walked up that small flight of stairs, Mikemon's ear twitching at K's realization.
She had managed all seven of the Knight's keys. At that note, the doctor turned, his eyes peering into the data of K's form. Yes, she appeared stable - completely calm and level, and in command of her own energy. Hearing about a new form, the cat gave a smirk: "Well, I'll have to see it. I hate to bring you right back under the lens, but..." Taking a step onto the couch, Mikemon once more drew that familiar red crystal into his hand.
"I don't think it'll take a whole formal appointment, this time. But would you mind if I took a quick look at your core? I'm... well, curious to see the 'after' of all this."
This was his prime accomplishment, after all!

"Oh? Your last week was busy? Influx of people or...?"
The renamon quirked a brow looking down at the mikemon; she wasn't sure how he'd get busy or how many patients he'd normally have. It was still difficult for her to gauge his work pace as it seemed to differ a bit every time that she came here. Perhaps she just came at the strangest times?
The renamon rubbed her muzzle thoughtfully, still sort of unsure how to approach this entire situation as a whole. How did she tell him all the things that Jesmon and Examon had ultimately shared with her as their data settled with hers? How did she explain the things she knew and the things she could just feel?
It was this strange tingling sensation that made her shake her head and the renamon let out a soft sigh. She wasn't flustered, just simply unsure of how to go about that.
"Pft... Well. It'd certainly do you good to take a look at everything. I was expecting this honestly; as we don't know how 'settled' my data really is."
The renamon stretched and took a seat on the couch, staring calmly at the Mikemon. She'd consider something briefly and then reach out to gingerly pat the top of the mikemon's head again.
"I'm curious to know what it's like in there as well, but luckily I feel as though you'll tell me."
The renamon chuckled a bit, grinning from ear to ear after a few long moments. She knew that there was a mix of desire to know she was okay as well as seeing how this turned out. It was quite adorable really; trying to disguise his care about this as work related...

"Bit of that. I've also picked up a few tasks with a new Research Club."
Well, he clearly couldn't be 100% dedicated to the hospital work if he had time for an extracurricular matter like that, but it still fell into his area of expertise. "For now, though, my attention's on you. I think I promised you a week or so of my time?" Giving a bit of a smile, and even a blush at that, he'd settle himself in on the couch next to her. Pat on his head, he gave one quick. gentle scratch on her back, before he'd pull a bit away.
"You're definitely better than you were the last time in my office, K. And of course I'll tell you, they're your cores after all." Chuckling right along back with her, the feline then took a deep breath, the color dulling from his eyes as he once more entered a deep trance. He stared deeply into that crystal, and peered deep past those layers of data. K would feel that same tingle, deep as ever, as the cat fell silent in focus.
Just how did everything settle in?

"Ah yes. I think I remember hearing about that. Hopefully it doesn't make you too spread out."
There was a small chuckle and K shifted slightly on the couch staring quietly at the mikemon. Her ears flicked just a little bit and the smile only widened when he spoke again. The fact that he had promised her a week of his time made it only so much better. Made coming 'home' so much better. It would of been strange to her not even a year ago to think that she called another place home.
"Indeed, and I did the same. So we certainly have a week of simply enjoying one another's company."
The renamon sighed softly when the mikemon scratched at her back. She'd shiver slightly as she could feel that stitching wound on her back. It hadn't healed still; but that damage was so deep to her that she doubted without GraceNovamon that it would. Much like the bite on her neck or the splotch on her chest...
The scar from the spider had lost it's purple color and was hidden by her white fur thankfully but. It was just another testament to her struggles.
"Yes.. Last time I almost got wrenched apart from GraceNovamon leaving and... well. There was that whole after effect of being basically digitized. Considering I've had some time to recover it's not too much of a surprise is it? Thank you."
The renamon gave a small but quick smile to the Mikemon before leaning back against the couch deigning to simply take it easy while he did his work. That tingle that she felt was somehow.. soothing. It meant so much to her; it was something strange she really couldn't explain.
Within he would find a serene emptiness of data and numbers. Acting as though the should, in perfect order. A single magnificent core, laden with data and pulsating with a healthy light. Some red streaks and light blue streaks existed here or there but ultimately the core matched the warmth that K often projected. There was a soft hissing whisper for a moment and tiredly did a voice project itself.
The last vestiges of my strength wane and are given to her. Examon has already gone ahead of me. Blissfully apparent in her suffering. It was when K took her form that it really started... But her newest form yet speaks truth a thousand fold Doctor. It was a good life, seeing as she did. Deeper in is her form, is her... absolute truth. Look past the core. I.. Don't have the strength anymore.
The Knight soudned beyond tired, to the point of where it seemed as though he would rest permantly. His duty long done he only had one thing he could really do which was move on.
Were the Mikemon to look deeper into the core as the Knight suggested he would be met with something beyond pure and sitting quietly watching the data flow. Something that on it's own spoke of the length that K had traveled. White fur that was gentle and smooth, only overlapped by armor which was soft blue in color. Her head perked and turned slowly. Eyes of piercing blue much like how Jesmon's was stared curiously at the mikemon. But not a word was spoken, perhaps she didn't know what to say. Could she even talk?

Indeed, K had been through a fair bit of struggle during her meditative period - the wounds hidden under her fur were evidence of that much. Still, Mikemon was careful to avoid the more sensitive parts of her fur, not trying to aggravate them as he simply tried to let her relax.
"A week just on that? I wouldn't be opposed." A visible blush appeared through the cat's fur, until she spoke of her various hardships. The fact that K was still standing here was a miracle in more ways than one - and the cat couldn't be more thankful for that fact. He didn't exactly know how to respond to it - K had, for quite a while, been at the center of a myriad of misfortune.
Perhaps this week would do her good. She needed some time to rest, to just 'be herself'.
"Alright, just relax. This won't take long..."
And within, the Mikemon would find that the core had settled in quite beautifully. As expected, strands of Jesmon's and Examon's data still existed, but the single core itself held a nice, healthy light, one that a solitary core should have. Of course, the cat still recognized a presence, one weak yet caring. Just as he was about to pull back, he was instructed to push deeper... but before he did, he slipped one last message, scrawled in data, to the fallen Jesmon:
Thank you.
He pressed on in, eyes piercing deeper into the core. Indeed... there was a 'something' that rested inside. Rather than Jesmon or Examon, this reminded him more of K herself, a wolf resting in armor of Jesmon's own color. His amber eyes met those piercing blue, an almost royal tone about her as she stared back. From there, he paused...
Just what could he say? Just as he observed this form, the form looked over him as well. Well, the cat figured he'd try at least one question:
Are you K?
And a follow-up: Or something new?

It wasn't really a surprise that she had struggles during the meditative period; honestly it would be more surprising if she did. As her life had been certainly rather chaotic after her leaving the inn. The renamon did enjoy the fact however that she was no longer bound to a place; a place that would be difficult to endure for too much longer. Perhaps that's where her wanderlust came from?
"I thought you wouldn't... It certainly is something we both have been looking forward to no?"
There was a hearty chuckle and the renamon let her head fall back in a soft manner. She was tired that much could be certain but there was nothing wrong with that; she knew for a fact that it was just a residual effect of her meditation after all.
"Of course."
The shifting and graceful decline of the energy that was Jesmon's data was halted at the words that the Mikemon scrawled out to him. There was a brief chuckle and the data continued on. It was so hard to keep itself awake at this point... What was it to do?
Deeper still, was this new form. This new creature that was unlike anything that had come before it. It shared certain similarities that much was certain. The form shifted slightly and continued to watch the mikemon, tapping it's fingers quietly along the armored forearm. Strangely there was no sound, but perhaps with how deep they were in the core it shouldn't be a surprise.
It'd slowly stand shaking it's head not to answer his question but more to clear it's mind... From it's hand it'd hold up a silver key, a strange but recognizable dialect labeled the item as seven. It'd look down at the key and then up at the mikemon before hiding it away in it's figure. It'd gently step closer the form peering at the mikemon for a time. There was a drawling breath, the being spoke. But it was in a tongue that hadn't been spoken in what easily could of been a thousand or more digital years. But mikemon likely would of known this dialect.
"I. Am. K."
"I. Am. New."
She'd pause and reach out slowly as though trying to grasp at the mikemon but seeming somewhat disheartened when it was unable to do so.
"You. Are. Mikemon."
There was another pause and a dangerous flash of it's eyes brought a frown to it's face. It drawled out a breath and 'spoke' again. It's words halting and powerful.
"You. Are. More. Than. You. Seem."
It'd turn it's head to look back towards the true center of her core and found itself sighing. It didn't seem surprised to see mikemon, and easily accepted the facts presented. It's eyes flicked to mikemon's presence and there was a moment where it seemed that the being could simply reach out... But it didn't, instead it asked a question of it's own.
"You. Have. Seen. it?"

It didn't take long for Mikemon to realize that he was in the presence of something truly grand, perhaps even monumental in nature. And perhaps it was a thought that was a bit self-serving, but he couldn't help but feel a little pride in this as well. This figure before him was, at least in part, a result of his life's work and research. This was perhaps the first case of a truly successful Core implantation, and the presence in front of him was proof of something once thought impossible.
The Mikemon didn't know exactly why, but his own form appeared ethereally before the fox. Unlike the solid spirit, his presence was much more temporary - but in his own hand, he held a key-ring, with sick dark keys rattling from its side. Taking a look at the wolf's own, the feline's ears twitched at that old tongue.
She was K. She was also new.
It was about as the cat expected, but as that hand passed through her form, those next words struck deep.
He was Mikemon. He was old.
That wasn't everything: that very curious question hit his ears. Had he seen it? He gave a light flinch, those keys dangling at his right, before the cat would give a sigh. He'd glance down at them, and shook his head.
I only know mine. His language now matched her's, the cat's tone a bit rough with this long-unused dialect. But I know of yours.

The being scratched their muzzle and looked around, gingerly running it's armored hands along some of the data that streamed by it. Curiously looking at what was in it before allowing it to continue on. It'd tut softly and shift so that it once more was in a somewhat relaxed pose.
The 'digimon' perked up a bit as it could feel a somewhat positive emotion stemming from the Cat. It was something subtle but it was also something it recognized; pride.. love unbiased and unending it seemed. There was another sigh and the digimon's eyes slowly slid over the key-ring that the mikemon had. There was no judgement in that gaze only curiousity and ultimately it'd reach out slowly; as though it wanted to see what keys this one had.
It seemed sad that it couldn't touch the mikemon, in fact the lack of touch almost made the digimon recoil a bit. Perhaps it was thinking itself was truly in the real? That this place was just one that she was waiting it? Or maybe she seemed ot think that the cat needed to have a physical form here.
"Your. Keys. Not. My. Keys."
Halting still the wolf shifted and gazed back at the core that truly made up the renamon before shifting slightly. It'd hold up a keyring, the silver and gold laced ring was graced by several keys each that held a different color.
"These. Are. Her. Keys. You. Helped. With. Six. A. Mere. Thought. Brought. Her. Silence."
The wolf sighed and turned back to look at the mikemon; there was a level of sadness in her eyes and it'd tap it's visor so that it lowered allowing the eyes of the being an undiluted gaze of the mikemon.
"You. Have. Seen. It. The. Door. To. The. End?"
A small pause and there was a soft frown.
"Your. Power. Is. Not. Yet. Gone. But. It. Is. Shackled. Can. She. Break. Them? Why. Have. You. Shackled. Yourself. So? I. Do. Not. Understand."

Despite her grand tone, the spirit Mikemon was speaking to was decidedly young, and impulsive. Even the cat could tell her distaste, unable to feel anything about the cat that stood before him. Perhaps she was unsettled by his ghostly appearance? Perhaps she was simply eager to exist?
His keys were not her's, and K nor this spirit would be able to touch them. Her words were correct, though: the black-and-red keys were far and away from her own. All have their own. Mine are here because yours are. A sign of feeling safe, in the presence of another. Of course he had helped with K's own - even the seventh, the most precious that this wolf held.
The keys were always her's. I just helped her to change her look. His tone was careful, gently explaining what he could to her... but that next question brought him pause.
The door to the end?
I... have stood before my own. He let his words speak for themselves. But the next point of concern pecked deep: why had he shackled himself?
The cat paused, his gaze shifting away from the wolf. Not all battles can be won. When the world is against you - when you feel your own door start to creak open - the chill inside your heart grows ice cold. In that moment, you have to make a choice.
He sighed, clutching a hand over his chest:
To swallow your pride, or to let it be your end. I chose the former.

This spirit certainly was one of the more younger ones, but it was born of Examon, Jesmon and Lucemon. Of course it would be grandoise in a way. The wolf shifted slightly, flicking her ears and running a single armored digit along her muzzle. It's silent gaze did not falter as the mikemon spoke.
The fact that his keys showed themsleves when around her and the other keys was odd to her. But it was something she might understand in time, as she would no doubt slowly get accustomed to being what K was and is. The digimon shifted again and slowly nodded as he explained further. That the keys were always hers and he simply had helped her look. It was a simple thing, a helpful thing and the Wolf found herself giving a soft bow almost as though she was japanese.
"Thank. You. Were. It. Not. For. You. I. Would. Not. Exist."
The wolf's demeanor shifted slightly, somewhat to the point of excitement as the cat spoke about standing in front of his own door. It was something that many digimon wouldn't understand and couldn't understand. But to those that held the greatest of powers and those that understood them; they would forever see that door as simply a next step rather than a true end wouldn't they?
"Her. Door. Isn't. Here. It. Lays. In. That. Creature's. Bosom. The. Graceful. One. But. Their. Door. Is. Here. As. Well. Why?"
Their ear flicked a bit as the cat spoke once more. Telling her that not all battles could be won, that when the world was against you and you didn't want that door to swing open... and drag you in. You make a choice. Would K be able to make a choice like that. The wolf tilted her head slowly and stared as the cat admitted to chosing the former of the two options he presented her.
"You. Chose. Well. Do. You. Regret. Choosing. This?"
The wolf stepped closer, inspecting the mikemon for a few long moments.
"You. Are. A. Most. Exceptional. Digimon. I. Accept. You. I. Respect. The. Choices. You. Make."
There was a distinct pause and she'd find herself smiling wide.
"Your. Love. For. Her. Is. Stronger. Than. You. Think. When. You. Lay. With. Her. Next. I. Will. Allow. Our. Data. To. Flourish."

It was definitely an odd feeling - being thanked for one's very existence? Swelling with a bit of pride before, the cat found himself come to a full stop at that thought, a slight red blush crossing his cheek. It was for her, of course. But I am glad you are here.
Thankfully, the topic shifted away to something the cat had just as little of a hand in - 'The Door to the End'. Obviously, it was simply a symbol shared between the two of them, perhaps to those tied heavily to their fates. That K's door lied with GraceNovamon's was not surprising, nor the opposite - but did that mean that K was potentially walking to her death, through her own fated words? What was the best way to answer?
... All it means is that fate has designed them as intertwined. One will claim the other.
It was the safest - and most humane - way the cat could think about it. As for his own door, the wolf gave him a curious compliment, and an immediate question. I have suffered, the cat replied, but never regretted it.
But with that last point - the last succinct point - a sharp blush crossed the doctor's cheek. Despite the invitation, the cat shook his head almost immediately: Leave that to the world's design.
If it happened, so be it. But he would prefer it not by an ancient's spirit's guidance. Feeling his eye twitch, though, the cat took a step back. I have to depart. Well... take care of her, at least.
And, with a few blinks, rubbing the back of his strained eyes, the feline would finally pull away from that crystal ball. Slowly, his attention returned to the material world, the dorm once more filling his vision.
Certainly, K would have been curious: "Its as we expected. You are down to one core - your own core - and a new psyche, born of your own will, inhabits it." The cat gave a smile, nodding to the Renamon's direction. "She seems less 'experienced' than the others - but might be vastly knowledgeable of your own whims."

The wolf scratched it's muzzle again; quirking a small brow at the mixing of that pride and that care. No. Care wouldn't be something this deep, it was something else far more easily. There was a small nod at what he said; even though she was unintentional it was still a good thing she was here.
"Of. Course."
The creature's words were well received it seemed, the reaction that it garnered from the cat wasn't something that it expected however. It was expecting surprise or perhaps a soft bit of sadness. Rather, he seemed prepared at the very notion that it was like this. It shifted slightly and gazed back at the core once more. That frown still there.
"Intertwined. Since. The. Beginning. You. Have. The. Answers. Already. For. The. Two?"
It's ear flicked at the mention of suffering and then followed immediately by a swift head turn when he mentioned that he never regretted it. There was a brief pause and it'd dip it's head in a nod. Perhaps that was part of the other as much as much as this one was a part of K.
"Very. Well."
It accepted the idea that it would come of it's own fruition, but when that did occur it wouldn't be standing in the way. It had very little reason to do so really; as this one cared deeply for their... no. It cared for them.
It cared for her.
"I. Will. See. You. Again. We. Take. Care. Of. One. Another. When. Her. Form. Takes. Mine. It. Will. Be. The. Start. Of. That. Hallway."
The wolf gave a little bow and turned to gaze softly at the core, taking a seat after a few moments. It's tail was swishing back and forth almost as though it was wagging...
K of course during this time had found herself lightly dozing; she couldn't help it when the mikemon did this. She couldn't really move and didn't really have much she could do. The remote for the television had been on the other side of the room and she wasn't about to move there.
She'd jolt a little bit when mikemon spoke and then rubbed her muzzle; giving him a small grin.
"That's good news. All around, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss Examon or Jesmon though. Kind of weird isn't it?"
The renamon rubbed her muzzle and then pulled the mikemon into a hug. Huffing softly at the mention that this 'psyche' would be knowledgeable of her own whims but less 'experienced' than the other three.
"We'll learn together I suppose. Maybe when I meditate next I can talk with her. But for now.. what do you feel like doing?"
