"Oh, of course I'm not surprised." But that didn't change how much of her back had to be loosened up, of course. Pressing those digits in, feeling that kiss returned on his lips, the pair pressed on like this for another twenty minutes or so. At the comment on being carried again, Mikemon rolled his eyes:
"Only if you want to. I think I can keep up." Teasing her right back, and giving a gentle scratch over one of her shoulder-blades, the doctor gave a purr. It would be a long, comfortable night...
But K's trip to Whitewater wasn't just going to be long days, cooped up in the second floor of the doctor's clinic. The next day, both gloves and cloak refreshed and laundered, the pair would find themselves in a place neither had checked out before: a historical exhibit at Whitewater's museum, detailing the history of both the Royal Knights and the Demon Lords. As it turned out, this was one largely sponsored by the Empyrean Skies... so it didn't take long for the cat to grit his teeth at some of the more scolding entries at the 'darker' end.
"Uh... huh." Giving a sighing chuckle at the report of a 'Greed' numbered in the forties, Mikemon shook his head, catching up to K a few yards away. Bias aside, some of the artifacts here were relatively interesting to look at - but more to the point, the cat figured he may as well ask: "Figuring anything out from this?"
They'd only been here a few minutes, of course - and the more decorated history of the Knights themselves was still further ahead.

K softly chuckled and stretched on the couch; she could feel him working out the tension that was horribly built up in her body. She'd shoot him a small smile at the idea that he wasn't surprised at this; if he had been she would of actually been kind of worried considering he was probably the best doctor she knew offhand.
"Well I might just for little bits here and there, wouldn't want to force you~"
There was a good level of teasing in her voice and a soft but earnest sigh as she felt him continue. It was quite a night for her to be honest; one that she thoroughly enjoyed. After all it wasn't very often that you got treated to this sort of thing!
The renamon pulled on her gloves quietly feeling the fabric as though it had life breathed in them once again. She could feel the rustle of the cloak and it's natural pull on her frame that eventually settled into normalcy for her.
It didn't take long for them to go check out this museum either; slowly but surely did she check out the few portions of the first exhibit. She'd take her time; not in a rush at all compared to some that would likely come through here. She'd tutt softly at the fact that the Empyrean skies had been the one to sponsor this.
Of course they had.
Why would it make any sense for them to drive one another apart? Virus, Data, vaccine; in the end they were all cores trying to make it day by day in their own way. She'd gingerly run a hand through the fabric of her cloak; mulling over what information was presented. She'd perk up and turn; her head shaking at the cat's question.
"Little tid bits of information, artifacts I don't remember and vague names that I do."
She'd place a hand on the railing to the exhibit she had been standing in front of and sigh sweetly.
"So far I do know where I still sit even with all the memories I have access to... I don't think I would want to fight the demonlords if one popped up I'll tell you that much!"
The renamon chuckled softly and gestured at the exhibit.
"Demonized and given hatred in all forms. But they certainly don't skip out on what they know huh? I wonder what sort of information could be gleamed from a proper exhibit."

Why did it make sense to make this exhibit? Simple: fear bred profit. The more the world feared the demons and held the angels as symbols of paragon, the more the Empyrean Skies could spread their influence and increase their might. It was a cynical way to look at it - and perhaps not even entirely accurate - but Dr. Mikemon couldn't help but think that there was a bit of an ulterior motive for it.
Fortunately, it wasn't hard for the two to play along - K even making a joke about fighting the Demon Lords. "Oh, trust me, no-one wants to. Most know how to get inside your heads." Seeing her nod towards the exhibit, the feline followed along. He simply laughed at the thought of a proper exhibit, because, well...
... The glorious tales of the various Knights over time was likely an embellished story. Entering that well-lit room with a gentle music flowing in the background, the pair would be set on a path to walk through the glowing history of Gallantmon, throughout the ages. Cutting through a Dexdorumon plague, leading a spear against an ancient D-Reaper core, felling two Demon Lords in a single night...
... Yeah. There was a lot to see here, that made the cat roll his eyes. "You take your time, alright? Might be a bit... gaudy, but I'm sure there's stuff here that'll help you out." Thankfully, it was early, or Jesmon's Disciple might have drawn a few more eyes!

K ran her hand along the railing staring quietly at the Demonlord exhibit. It was so strange to her to see something like this, sure most demonlords were beyond powerful and they were something that you wouldn't want to fight. They started off strong didn't they? They like the knights were chosen in a fashion for whatever reason.
"If they got inside my head they'd find it mostly forest."
There was a bemused chuckle and she'd lean to stare at them. So they would be something that represented opposite of what she wanted right? Or were they just another side of the conflict that hadn't been allowed to share their story? There was a bemused thought and she'd glance down at the mikemon.
"I imagine most of them are like the knights too. Incredibly hard to find?"
Eventually they went into the knight's exhibit. The renamon was quiet throughout most of it. A Gallantmon primarily was the focus of this particular portion of the Exhibit. Current through some plague; a spear against some ancient D-reaper core that had paltry amounts of information. Then something somewhat unbelievable to her; a pair of Demonlords that fell in a single night.
She'd let out a long sigh and lean against the railing tapping her finger against it. There was so much that she could learn here if she looked close enough. Lies within truth's and truth in lies. Which was which?
"I will. Most of this is fluffed to hell and back but... there are truth's here and there. History exhibit's are so.. pointless sometimes when they're like this but look here?"
The renamon leaned to gesture at the D-reaper core portion.
"If they fought it back then, that means that luminas has to have some access to information about them right? If the knights worked with them at that point at least. They might even have a small bit of information I could use if not. Then there's some older locales might have libraries I could page through to find what is needed."

"To be fair to this exhibit as a whole, it is quite difficult to find accurate records of the Demon Lords. After all," he chuckled, "what good would they be if they managed to let their secrets fall into angels' hands?" In a way, the small size of this exhibit was nothing more than a testament to their ability...
... Even if the Empyrean Skies wanted to downplay it otherwise. As to K's question on even finding the Demon Lords?
"Naturally."
Little else needed to be said - even if K didn't learn anything, this was still quite an interesting (and now relevant) exhibit to the both of them. Though, it seemed that even within the Knights there was some dissonance. Gallantmon, Magnamon, Jesmon, Alphamon, and Omnimon were on full display, and a few others had some reference, but a few were interestingly absent. Crusadermon, for instance, didn't have a single entry, and Examon had but one artifact stored behind sealed glass.
Still, it didn't take long for K to hone in on something of interest to her: the Gallantomon's efforts against a D-Reaper kernel. Peering over the entry itself, Mikemon gave a nod. "The discussion panel for the D-Reaper incident took place in Luminas - perhaps this was their reason. At any rate, Stingmon will be giving me a detailed report on it this afternoon"
The cat took a step back, and gave a nod to the Renamon. "In either case, its worth looking - though I wouldn't be able to attend. I don't go to Luminas unless its for a 'political' reason - I'm not risking anything without diplomatic immunity."
Sheesh, that bad, huh? Heck, K might have a 'wanted' sign on her back as well!

"You have a fair point there. Might have to look in some pretty dark places for a proper bit of information."
K shook her head slightly; she didn't ever want to have to deal with them in combat or out of combat honestly. Politics they would likely run circles around her and if they were to fight? She was just a regular mon to them and likely would fall to them if she tried.
She'd flick her ear when the Mikemon responded to her question rather quickly and in the shortest possible. It made sense that they'd be in the same boat as the knights if they were even around anymore honestly. The renamon looked over the knights; all but the two she found herself related to in a strange fashion.
She'd rub her muzzle thoughtfully and leaned against the railing of the exhibit once more. Her brow quirking slightly before turning her head to the mikemon.
"It'll be good to have information of any sort. I wouldn't mind looking over it later with you once our 'relaxation' period is done."
The renamon chuckled lightly and found her brows raising slightly.
"...Political reason? Are you- Wait. Why would you need Diplomatic immunity?"
The renamon found her eyes drawn to the Examon artifact and slowly walked over to it. She'd gingerly place her hand on the glass and stare quietly at it. She was constantly reminded of the dragon she had within her along with the Jesmon. But for her to have so little in comparison to the others felt odd. She'd furrow her brow and feel a hazy memory of her flying through the night skies above the dragon valley.
She'd sigh softly and shake her head still staring at the artifact.
"It seems that luminas and the knights favor certain ones over the others. It's strange to me."

If the information existed at all - who said that the Demon Lords even kept such written records? Well, some did, but it was definitely few and far between. Regardless, it didn't take them long to enter the exhibit in proper.
Mikemon gave a nod in response to her request to look over the information. "Sure - just don't let anyone know I let you look at it. At least, not the classified stuff - and nothing until it's revealed tomorrow." The cat said this in a much lower voice, letting K know that he wasn't exactly supposed to do this... but nothing was really going to stop him from doing so, either.
As for the next point, the Mikemon's answer was surprisingly level: "Aside from that," the cat shook his head, obviously referring to the prison island incident, "The fact of the matter is, I'm a Dark Area Digimon. If I'm up there escorted with a whole bunch of other representatives and politicians, they'll leave me alone - but Impmon and the like get wrongfully held up, searched, and even detained without reason. You'd be fine," the cat sighed, "but a lot of us are better off not being bothered with it."
The Examon artifact itself... well. K might not have been exactly pleased to see it - a piece of Examon's spear, gnarled almost beyond recognition. The plaque itself indicated that it was destroyed in battle by both Jesmon and Magnamon, in a slog spanning over several hours. The Renamon's sad tone brought a sigh from the Mikemon:
"It's simply the design of the Knights. Half of them fight for the 'Justice of the World', and the other half fight for the 'Justice of Yggdrasil'. The members aren't always consistent, or even just those two groups - but infighting between the Knights is fairly common. Only the most just and the most heroic end up seeing fame in places like this."
The cat shook his head again, moving to stand next to the Renamon. "You alright?"

K rubbed her muzzle thoughtfully and then dipped her head in a small nod when mikemon asked her quietly to not let anyone know that she looked at it. It would be a horrible breach of security normally; what sort of classified details did they have? Did they know what occured there properly? The fight that she had there? The low volume of voice only added to the firmness of her response.
"Of course. Besides there's not really anyone I'd share it with besides you and you're already going to know."
The renamon chuckled lightly and leaned slightly gazing quietly at the mikemon as he spoke. He was right on the money there; they would know that he was part of the raid for the island but their jurisdiction wouldn't pass outside their borders. It pained her to hear that the dark area digimon would get treated so differently. She'd blink a few times however when he said that she would be fine.
"It's because of the sigil isn't it? I can't really blame you for not wanting to go up there then... Ugh. You don't hear that sort of stuff from terminus or whitewater."
The renamon absentmindedly rubbed her arm and stared at the artifact. A small frown and she was greeted with the unpleasant memory of examon's own lance. The fact it was such a tiny piece of the spear type weapon must of meant something for the owner. The renamon would slowly turn to look at the final knight she had been avoiding.
Jesmon.
Her ear would flick and her attention would slide down to the mikemon after a few long moments of staring at the exhibit from next to the examon artifact. She'd let out a soft sight and rub her muzzle once more.
"Even that high up in the world they're still plagued by politics huh..."
The renamon blinked a few times at the mikemon's question to her. She'd consider what he asked quietly for a few moments and then slowly shook her head.
"No. I'm not. I have more questions than answers and... this is not what I was expecting to see when we came to this exhibit. It's somewhat of a let down honestly."
She'd slowly move over to the jesmon exhibit still for the most part taking in the exhibits properly. She wasn't rushing or anything but some of the information that was present just.. seemed off too her.
"It makes me realize something too."

"True enough. Well, its worth being careful, anyway." He gave a nod to the Renamon as she gave that chuckle, a brief smile breaking up the disappointment of this rather Empyrean-favored exhibit. Very little was said about all but the most illustrious of Knights.
"Yes - its because of the Sigil. You'd be allowed to walk more freely than most, and perhaps some of the nobles would even want to talk with you. Unfortunately, not a lot of them have too much of value for you."
Maybe that was even the cat's own bias showing, but the sigh that followed spoke of tired experience. Regardless, K's disappointment was far from surprising: "Mm. You've had them so long as role models only to see them portrayed in this light. Unfortunately," the cat sighed, "This is how history is told and remembered. We may have lost great stories and feats throughout the years, simply because those in power just did not want to believe that they existed."
That much was true, and as K would scan through the Jesmon exhibit, she'd see more of the same. The 'Knight of Power' was spoken about in great detail, for both feats and efforts made as a leader in various conflicts. He'd fought armies by himself, fended off both Knight and Lord, strove for peace in the north - truly, a knight for glory and justice.
But with such a stilted view, perhaps it all screamed hallow. And as K spoke up, the Mikemon's ear gave a twitch. He stood next to her, and gave a nod, and a small smile:
"I'm all ears, hun."

"I can't really blame you for wanting to be; I know I should be."
Icy blue eyes swept over the exhibit and back down to the mikemon returning the smile somewhat cheerfully. Even if the topic was she was firmly happy in the idea of spending some time with someone she did care for. Her eyebrows shot up however when he seemed to think that some of the nobles would want to talk to her.
"I suppose that makes sense... I don't. I don't think I'd have much to give them either realistically. Why is that though? Just bloated words and empty promises?"
The renamon rubbed her muzzle and stared a little more firmly at the exhibit her eyes taking in everything that was given... Which she started to quickly find wanting. It'd make her grit her teeth and lean a little more firmly on the railing.
"That's beyond frustrating I tell you that. Feh... not really much you can do about it though. Not with how things are."
The renamon seemed rather grumpy about how the exhibit was placed. There were of course truths here but there were also plenty of lies she could just 'see'. It just made her want to go find out the actual happenings for herself. The renamon scratched at her ear and gave the mikemon a soft smile.
"Being a knight is something that I could only dream of; think about idly wistfully. But standing on the cusp of something similar maybe not in power or in hearts makes me understand the sheer difference between me and them."
There was soft sigh and she felt a chuckle rumble from deep within her chest.
"But it's not a gap in a bad way. If anything it just means If I ever got to that point I'd be different than them. Not a knight per say but.. something else."

"Hm... I think my reasoning was more, 'What use is a Knight's Apostle to a well-off noble'?" Mikemon's words were a little more pointed at this point, but he quickly explained: "I know you well enough to know that money's not something that impresses you. You might get work, you may be well compensated, but ultimately there's little that could be offered other than a contract between a nobleman and their bodyguard. Not that there's anything wrong with that line of work..."
But that didn't sound like K's cup of tea, and her frustration with the exhibit only confirmed it. Unfortunately, there was little else the Mikemon could say on the matter, the cat just taking a moment to peer over another exhibit - a broken piece of a Barbamon's cane. "Rest in peace, you poor sod." Muttering that to himself more than anything else, his ear twitched once more at K's realization.
"... You can't be a Knight, at least right now - but then, there's no purpose emulating what you see here?" That seemed reasonable enough, though perhaps a bit of what the Renamon said had went over his head. "As someone whose held 'this' power for some length of time... I just have to say, it 'warps' the world around you. People follow, worship, beg for your employment. They fear, they strike, they spit venomous words at your feet. But the strangest part of it all, is to just know that you're at the 'center'. Only then, do you realize..."
The cat chuckled. "That you're just spinning around in the well of something even greater than yourself. Well," the cat quickly changed the topic, "You wanna head back? We can pick up an early dinner on the way."

K flicked her ears a little bit and rubbed her muzzle. He certainly did know her well enough to understand this; he also would understand quiet thoroughly that it wasn't something that she made a habit of seeking. She'd look down at her hands and frowned after a few long moments.
"You certainly do know me well enough; were money something I actually sought I doubt I would have trouble finding a place where I could make the most of my skills or power. While the line of work isn't bad I just... don't think that's the best use of something like this."
There was a firm shake of the head and she'd consider briefly the use that she could have for the nobles themselves however. Were she to be able to get enough of them to support her she might be able to hold some sway in that place but... It was something you'd need to dedicate yourself to.
K dipped her head a little bit when he posed a question more rhetorically than expected.
"That's true. Maybe apostle is more fitting than I thought..."
The renamon chuckled softly and turn her head to blink at the mikemon for a few long moments. He certainly made sense and the ending note he left off on only made her furrow her brows. She'd take a few moments to look over the Jesmon exhibit and feel a soft sense of pride somewhere deep in her core before turning to the cat once more.
"Makes sense. I'd be up for something to eat. Feeling anything in particular?"
The renamon moved forward a bit and away from the exhibit; considering what she had learned her even if it was in small bits would certainly go a long way for her...

Coming out here didn't feel entirely pointless, at least. Stilted as it was, K had a better perspective for how the Knights were viewed in the world, as well as a somewhat-accurate depiction of at least the story behind Gallantmon's and Jesmon's own histories. Perhaps she wouldn't be able to do much with it, or perhaps it was all she needed to see.
That was for the Renamon to figure out - but for now, it was time to get back to the office. "Eh, nothing too fancy - its a bit early to sit down anywhere, but there's definitely good take-out around here." Like that entire line of stands he had shown Carlos and Dio a few weeks ago - from that market, K could find at least something she would like!
Unfortunately, that average museum visit and pleasant take-out meal might have been the last 'good' big of news about this day. With the Stingmon's return, and the file placed on his desk ("I'm done with this - just take a look at it yourself, I'm taking the rest of the day off"), the Mikemon finally had a definitive report to peel through. And what he saw was definitely not what he wanted to see, the cat pinching the bridge between his eyes with two frustrated fingers.
"Of course its not as simple as an isolated incident." Swearing under his breath, the cat turned his eyes from page to page. A damage report. Losses. Theories as to what happened. What to do next. All of this was plainly laid out in the file, but between it all, the cat could only give a sigh.
"An entire squad specialized to fight the D-Reaper, dominated in an instant. How far out of our depth are we?"

Even if the Exhibit's were tilted in the favor of knights and making their actions even loftier than they likely had been the Renamon had learned a few things. Learned that there was likely information she could gleam of these past events somewhere along with what she could do in the future if she needed to get something from Luminas. It would certainly be a slow burn on the latter most part but.. As it was she was already an entity that had lived a thousand years; what was a couple decades of service to some Noble in exchange for good information?
K gave the mikemon a small grin and patted the top of his head. He certainly was right wasn't he? She couldn't really argue with the idea of take out; it was sometimes nice to just walk around and nibble on something rather than sitting down all the time.
K wasn't really upset at the museum visit; honestly she had expected to come away from it with much less. The take out meal turned out to be quite delicious even with the fact; it was nothing like she was used to honestly.
However upon the return of the pair to his office well. The renamon sat quietly while the Mikemon went through the information. She'd flick her ear however when he said that it wasn't just an isolated incident. The renamon rubbed her muzzle thoughtfully and frowned.
"It wouldn't make sense otherwise. They don't strike me as something that would just happen in one place."
Her brows shot up however when he spoke of an entire squad being dominated in an instant by the D-reaper. The question that the Mikemon placed made the Renamon drum her fingers on the desk.
"A little more than we'd like I'd imagine. We know next to nothing still right? Or at least that's kind of how it feels."

True enough - Mikemon's comment about the D-Reaper problem not being an isolated incident was more an utterance of frustration, rather than disbelief. "Even after that main nest was destroyed," the cat continued, "Isolated pieces of the D-Reaper - and those infected - are cropping up all over the Dark Area. Fortunately, the problem hasn't yet crossed the border."
The unspoken words were loud: 'But for how long'? Well, it would take a while to get through the report. Right now, Dr. Mikemon was simply looking through the extent of the damage, his remark regarding the team simply a header for everything else that happened. "We know more than we'd think, less than we'd like. Let's see... Moeru is currently under isolated care in Terminus with his Deputymon - good." Muttering that more than anything else, he expected the rest to be in a similar vein of news. But as he peered through, his eyes widened: "The hell... even Lord Myotismon got caught up in this mess? Our Dark Area representative..."
His eyes darted across the rest. Tigervespamon, dead. Samurai, missing. Datamon, alive and in isolation. His eyes focused on the last - and the cat's free paw slammed down, claws digging a deep cut through the desk itself.
"G... Guru..." He clenched his teeth, doing his best to hold composure - but damn it, how could he? That Reppamon was a far better Digimon than he ever was - a fair example of a Holy Digimon. But there he was, listed right under Datamon, one word next to that simple name: 'Deceased'.
"..." It was evident, right on the cat's face. That one hurt.
