MPC Name: Leveling the field + "We Remember". MPC Number: 56A & 56B.
Reward Requested: Katherine -> Bits Akemi -> Posts This is a combined MPC for MPC56A and MPC56B. Since the plots for both MPCs are connected we decided to do them inside the same thread.
This MPC is completely canon for both Katherine and Akemi.
Chapter IV: The War of Terminus.
Episode 2: Old memories, old enemies.
Being back at Whitewater sure brought back some memories to both Katherine and Jazz. What an amazing adventure they had together, running through those streets. It sure was a good thing they were not wanted criminals anymore. Otherwise, they couldn't be standing in the middle of a fairly big square, in broad daylight, with so many digimon going back and forward. It was a busy day in the beachside city as any, really. Now that she was out of that ugly forest and could actually feel the sunlight on her skin, Katherine had decided to wear something much more casual. She was now using a short, green tank top, tight blue jeans, and sandals. Her loose hair falling on her shoulders, while she slightly leaned her head back to drink some fruit juice she had just bought. "Jassooooo! When is our conveyance going to get here?" An over-impatient girl wearing a pig costume, and jogging next to her, asked. Yes, they actually weren't just hanging out at that place. They were waiting for some vehicle that would take them to the Dark Area, where they were supposed to complete some mission given to them by Amy, Katherine's best friend, and the leader of the Deeplane City Council, the group that she and Jazz were now a part of. Of course, they would have to wait a while until that conveyance arrived, considering they were kind of early. "Relax. It's barely 8 am or so. Amy said that this vehicle would arrive in the early afternoon." You know what they say; the early bird... catches the worms or something. "I thought that we could look for Reviewmon to help me fix that portal thing of my digivice. It seems to be malfunctioning." The girl muttered, lowering her gaze towards her pink and purple gadget, frowning for a bit. 'Seems to be' was actually an understatement. They had tried to go back safely into the Digital World and the thing had thrown them right in the middle of a deadly labyrinth "But now I think it's too early... even for that." She added, letting go a sigh. There wasn't a chance someone else would arrive that early at the meeting spot too, right? Well, maybe there was. Word count: 375/2000

The meeting point specified was Whitewater. Something Anzu had said was actually a very temperate and hot place, so Akemi felt she should dress appropriately for the occasion...Kind of?
Regardless, this was her first visit to this place. Seemed the same as most of the tropics, in truth. She was clad in a simple t-shirt with an exclamation point on it, and some shorts, as well as her trusty hat. She felt like she couldn't really go anywhere without it at this point. Odd.
Anzu, meanwhile, was in her Tsukaimon form and lounging atop Akemi's hat. "Aaaah...It's like, the nicest day out. Right?" "Yeah, I'd...actually agree. Probably the nicest day we've had here in a while." Simple small talk for the two as they made their way around the city and towards the meeting point.
It seemed as though they were getting along for once. "Hey, wanna go look and see if anyone else we know's around here?" Anzu inquired, only to be met with a shrug. "If they were...don't you think we'd have seen them by now?" Anzu's retort was a simple "...Maybe? We haven't even started looking, though. Don't be a chump."
"Who're you calling a chump?' Akemi asked, before she spotted a familiar-looking figure...And jogged on up to check to see who it was. Anzu lost her balance, fell off Kemi's head and flew after her. "...Smells like empanadas..." She mumbled.

Lady lucky smiling, maybe. If there was someone Katherine was eager to see, aside Amelie maybe, was the girl with the hat jogging towards her with a small Tsukaimon above her head right now. Akemi and Anzu were the only ones she knew aside Amelie in this team (or so she thought). Aside, she was heavily involved with the reason they joined in the first place. Before she even noticed, a smile had made its way to Katherine's lips. "Ama..." Yeap, that was still a thing she had to work on. "Akemi!" The green-eyed just stared as the slightly smaller girl approached her. Of course, accompanied by the coolest bean ever: Anzu.
"O-Of course I don't!" Was her first comment upon the duo's arrival. That was over two weeks ago! (Even more if you considered Human World time), She couldn't smell like empanadas still, right? "I had multiple showers since then!" The teenager remarked, a slight blush on her cheeks.
Leaving the empanadas scent behind, she addressed the pair. "How have you two been? Amy told me you would be in this mission too. That made me feel much better." It was probably no secret to anyone that Katherine didn't feel good having to interact with a large group of people she didn't know. So Akemi and Anzu's presence was kind of a relief. "But why are you here so early?" She almost couldn't finish the question. Jazz stepped up front to say hi too.
"Akemi! Anzu! It's great to see you!" The pig girl clenched her fist in excitement. "This mission is going to be awesome!" She then pointed her finger to the Tsukaimon. "Last time I couldn't see you fight, Anzu. So I'm eager to see how strong you really are!"A small wink ensued that sentence. "You need to stop pointing at people." Her tamer immediately lowered the Chohakkaimon's arm using her own hand.
"This is Jazz, by the way. This is her new form..." A brief silence went right after, until Katherine let a sigh go, finishing the sentence. "... Unfortunately."

It seems the idea of going towards the familiar figure was not a bad one in the slightest, because Akemi had been greeted with Katherine! "Hey! Uh...If it makes you feel any better, I don't think you smell like empanadas." Not that she really knew what Kath usually smelled like. That would be very weird. "I've been alright. I've...had at least one questionable encounter in the past few days, though that's a story I'd need Anzu to tell because my half's...weird but her half's even weirder." The girl stated with a shrug. What...happened?
"I wasn't aware that you'd be coming along, but...I did sort of expect it. You and Amy are friends, and this is a mission between friends and allies...So, it's greatly reassuring." The hat-clad girl gave Katherine a genuine smile, before her expression turned quizzical. "An old saying once said that the early bird gets the worm. So, you could call it that...Plus Anzu wanted to go see the cute things." She explained, which drew a glare from Anzu. "...N-Nuh-uh. Untrue. False. Fake news." The bean then looked a little startled by the girl in a pig costume.
Of course, it took naught but a second to establish that as...JAZZ? Anzu stared at the ChoHakkaimon for a few, long seconds, before blinking. "It's...um. Really nice to see you as well, Jazz." The girl was way more...excitable? Rowdy? Than her Lopmon form. Then again, it's not like she was anyone to speak... "I didn't get to see you fight either, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you're capable of. Also, the pointing thing is cool! Let her point!" The bean was pretty adamant about this stance
Akemi was quick to interject. "It -seems- cool but it might provoke an unwanted conflict given how...uh...dumb some people can be...What's so unfortunate about the form? At least it's not Anzu's strongest form...Uh. That one's...scary."
As scary as a gigantic baphomet that seemed to be made entirely of smoke could be.

It was a good thing for the green-eyed to have some type of reassurance she didn’t smell like food. “Well thank you!” Katherine showed an honest grin to Akemi. What came next, made Katherine tilt her head, a little confused at the statement. “Your half is… weird?” Why were they even two halves of the same story?
“Yes!” The curly haired then nodded at her peer. “Not long after we met in the restaurant, I went to talk with Amelie about this team you're both a part of, so I ended up joining the Council. I think your cause is noble, as I said. And it will help me find Bastian too!” There was no loss in this society, or so it seemed. It felt… nice, to know Akemi was happy to have her on board. The hatted girl usually had a plain, serious expression, so seeing her smile for Katherine being there was sure heartwarming. “The… cute things?” Anzu was definitely a character, Katherine let go a giggle after hearing her denial. It wasn’t hard to bring the curly haired to laughs, but the Tsukaimon accomplished this even easier than regular people.
Even though she hadn’t thought about it thus far, Katherine then realized Jazz’s personality in her Chohakkaimon form was actually… very similar to Anzu! Maybe a little more aggressive, but definitely just as bold and non-filtered. “You heard the Tsukaimon, Jasso! Let me… point!” This last word was uttered as the pig girl aimed towards a long street, which could be accessed from the eastern side of the square they were currently at and that seemed to lead to the beach. Katherine shrugged, and started walking in that direction. Why not walking around while they talked? It was better than staying there, knowing the conveyance wouldn’t arrive any time soon.
If Akemi and Anzu followed, which hopefully they would, the conversation would continue. The group would keep walking through the pathway until they reached the beach, leaving the noise of the multitude behind, only some houses could be seen to their left now, while the sea was to their right. And even those houses had started becoming fewer along the sidewalk.
“She’s right. Not everyone will take the pointing so nicely.” After a quick sigh, Katherine shifted her glance at her partner to say this. “How’s Anzu stronger form?” She turned at Akemi again, while they kept walking. “The new Jazz is just too impatient and always wants to fight! I kind of miss her Lopmon form." A little frown made its way to her expression.
“Hey! Stop speaking as if I were not right here, Jasso!” Jazz pouting was immediately replaced by a curious blink. Her gaze had encountered a big seaside house. It had a very spooky vibe around it, and it seemed like it was abandoned. The door? Half opened. “What’s wrong?” Katherine asked, taking her eyes back to her partner
Jazz turned at Anzu. Unlike that time in front of the restaurant, this time they seemed to be on the same page about what to do with a place that looks abandoned with a slightly open door.

"Well...Not -that- weird. But it's a really long story." Akemi explained, rubbing the back of her neck briefly. "So...we're teammates now." There was a sort of cheer that had been making itself apparent with that bit of news. "That's great! I look forward to working with you more, now!" If it furthered the goals of her friends, then...why not? "And yeah, the cute things. She's...really into hats. Picked this one out for me." Akemi continued, gesturing towards her hat.
So that's where that came from.
"YEAH. LET HER POINT!" Anzu echoed! This was honestly more than a little fun! Then again, she did always take pleasure in the more simple parts of life. Like yelling at your boss...es. Yeah. That. Akemi and Anzu moved to follow Katherine as Jazz pointed out a destina-...Nah, just a place to go. A destination implied there was a end. "Anzu's...stronger form is, to put it simply, a demonic goat. I think it's like a baphomet or something...? Point is, she revealed she could evolve into that while threatening a clown. It's called Mephistomon and...they usually don't look like how she does."
"Wow, now you guys are being rude!" Anzu huffed! "My Mephistomon form is as good as it needs to be. It's perfection given form! ...Though I think my thighs could use work in that form."
Of course, nobody was expecting to be faced with the same situation they had encountered when they first met the duo...A door to a place that looked abandoned. Seaside house. Anzu just smirked! "Well, here I go, breaking and entering private property once more." She declared, as she raced forwards, past everyone else and into the house.
Akemi, to put things simply, was just as disappointed and gobsmacked as last time.

“Let’s go!” The almost classical yelling of Jazz in her Chohakkaimon form echoed through the beach. She followed Anzu, and they both broke inside the house at the same time. 'Yay, trespassing private property~'
Did Katherine and Anzu have any option but to follow their delusional partners at this point? Probably not. If they did, they would find her partners inside of a pretty wide living room. Jazz had her eyes wide open, observing every detail of the wooden layout. It seemed pretty old and abandoned. It had the whole ‘spooky house’ vibe.
Leaving behind the rather obvious ‘Here we go again’ expression that Jazz’s actions produced on her, Katherine smiled when she heard Akemi’s words about them being teammates. It was hard for her, harder than probably anything else, to make friends. But she could feel a very warm bond, slowly growing between her and Akemi, and that was making her happier that she could put into words. “Yes! It’ll be great.” She gave a smile back to Akemi, to then shift her gaze back to Anzu, tackling the topic about her transformation. “Demonic… goat?” That sounded scary. “That sounds awesome!” Or not.
Jazz’s eyes were even wrinkling at the idea. “Mephistopheles is the name of a demon, isn’t it? Some cultures say he’s the right hand of the devil.” Frowning a little, Katherine mused about this matter. “I think Anzu must look really scary in that form.” Of course, Anzu’s next choice of words would make her chuckle, as more often than not. “Your tights?” A louder laugh ensued. “That’s so funny!”
“Come on, Anzu! I want to see it! Please! Let me see it! Come on! Just a little bit, Let me see…” That would continue for a while, regardless if Anzu agreed right away. Meanwhile, the group would enter a room. It was a pretty big one. Judging by the huge table and over twenty chairs, it seemed like a dinning room. “I wonder who used to live here…” Katherine muttered, while Jazz kept poking Anzu with her index finger, trying to convince her to show her Mephistomon.
“So… Akemi.” A small pause ensued. Katherine tried to look for the right words to ask this, without seeming too intrusive. “Would you and Anzu like to talk about this... 'questionable encounter' you two had recently?” Well, now that they were walking through an abandoned mansion with nothing else to do, why not going there? Other than how she and Anzu met, Katherine didn't really know much about Akemi. It was time.

Akemi felt like this was going to be one hell of a day already, in truth. Given that she was once again being made to make sure Anzu does nothing worse than simply breaking and entering what might in fact be private property. The consolation here was that she was hanging out with friends.
Something that could make any situation infinitely more bearable, in all honesty. "Mhm. A demonic goat." It did sound awesome in theory, but Akemi had only seen it in action once and that was a mess and a half. "Right hand of th-...That actually makes a LOT of sense. And yeah, she does. She's also apparently made of mist in that form..." Akemi trailed off, only for Anzu to chime in. "Yeah, my thighs! You wouldn't understand!"
To say that the bean was not expecting Jazz to be so INSISTENT upon seeing her ultimate form. "W-Wait, just a little bit? You either go big or go home when you go perfect...Plus, it'd be too big for this place!" At least she THOUGHT it would be. She felt really awkward with Jazz's constant poking her.
Maybe the mansion wasn't quite too tiny for her to show her Mephistomon...Maybe...It was something they'd need to see for themselves. Akemi glanced to Katherine upon being asked about the encounter. "It's nothing bad to talk about, so I'll be happy to recount it. Though, Anzu knows...a lot more about this individual than I do."
Taking a deep breath, the girl decided to begin her story. "So, it was about a day or two after we had our empanada escapade. My mom sent me to go pick my sister up from school, and by that I mean the school she goes to. I took Anzu with me so she wouldn't go raid the pantry or anything inane like that." Anzu's plans for that day were just napping, in truth. "So, when I had actually gotten there...I saw that my sister wasn't there, and Anzu got really, really antsy for some reason. Like she had felt a disturbance of sorts in the air."
Akemi took a pause, peering around the mansion as they had walked through it. This was a really odd place to leave abandoned. Was it by chance haunted? Anzu took advantage of the silence amidst being poked to add a bit on her end. "Well, I felt someone strong nearby, and Akemi had decided to go look for her sister. She found her, but...Uh. We kind of found someone I wish we hadn't found."
Noticing that someone could just ask some pretty obvious questions, Akemi interjected. "W-What she means is that we found Shizu with a nun. Who pointed a gun at Anzu. A cross-shaped gun." Sistermon Noir, if anyone were familiar with that Digimon. "See, it turns out that Shizu helped this nun out of a pinch somehow in the past, so she had a debt to pay to her. So...They were sort of like partners. The nun apparently knew Anzu and Anzu knew her..."
"Because Empress, the nun, used to be my right-hand back when I led that cult. There, I said it. She's also a Sistermon Noir. Stupid-strong one. Can curve her bullets in mid-air." The bean stated, suddenly.
...
Well, that took a turn. "...Oh." Akemi mumbled.

While Katherine was listening closely to Akemi’s story, Jazz kept trying to convince her friend to show her this demon. “Then go BIG, Anzu, BIG!” The pig girl started bouncing, opening her arms in the air, like if she were… well, recreating something big. “Enough! I-It’s really not necessary for her to evolve into that monster right now.” Katherine chided, stuttering a little bit. Was it too obvious that she was actually scared of seeing this beast? She had a point, though. There was not a situation that demanded a giant mist demon to appear right now. “Oh my…” A frown made its way to Katherine’s expression. “ That sounds terrible. How old is Shizu?” Being an only child, she couldn’t quite understand how Akemi could have felt, but it sure sounded like an appalling situation. “What happened then? That means this nun is kind of… her digimon partner?” Those two were a pair of kind of obvious question after such a story. “Sis-ter-mon…” The curly haired muttered, trying to remember where could she have heard that name. “Oh, that’s right!” She finally reached the answer. “I’ve already seen a Sistermon Blanc and Ciel. Never a ‘Noir’, though.” She then blinked, turning at Anzu, just starting to process what she had said. “A cult!?” The Tsukaimon seemed to not be just fun and games, but a pretty devilish creature, at least during her past. Just when Katherine was about to ask more about this, she noticed her partner seemed to be a little touched by the story. “That’s terrible, Akemi!” She jumped in front of the hatted girl. “Is your little sister okay? You must have been worried about her.” That made perfect sense. After all, Jazz was an older sister, so it was logical she could empathize with the situation. It was good to see how Jazz hadn’t lost the love for her siblings, even though being in that form where all she seemed to care about was fighting. “I have three little brothers: Boru, Koru, and Roru are their names. They are a bunch of dunces, but I love them very much.” Apparently, it was easier for her to show her feelings now too, but Katherine knew that already. It seemed like it was storytelling time for Jazz too. But that was fine, actually; it couldn’t hurt that Akemi and Anzu knew a little more about them two now too, right? “We used to be a group of bandits in Rustport, where I was raised. We stole stuff from passers-by and townsfolks to then sell them to the merchants and buy food for the poor digimon living in the street.” This was a good one, Katherine liked this story. She couldn’t help to show a small grin, while the group left the dining room and began walking through a huge hallway. “One day, they actually stole Jasso’s digivice, who had just arrived into the Digital World.”“They did.” Katherine continued with the tale. “Desperate, I told some Koemon that I had been stolen, without actually knowing he was part of a band of evil digimon who were usually taking stuff from Jazz’s band.” That was unfortunate. “He then told his boss about Jazz’s band having a digivice and they went there to take it. Jazz tried to hide it from them, and they were about to kill her brothers.”“Jasso got there just in time to see everything develop, and even though we had stolen from her, she still put her life at risk to help us and a fight broke out between our band and theirs. Boru, Roru, and Koru fought really hard to come out of that alive. They did a great job.” It could be seen in the pig’s eyes how proud she was of her brothers. “Jasso and I had our first battle that day, against this Koemon, who thought he was better than us and thought it was stupid that Katherine cared about digimon and that I ended up caring for her.” That was how their bond actually started building. “I think we performed pretty good.” Katherine turned at her partner, winking at her in a playful manner. “Of course!” A clenched fist, Jazz bounced a bit again. “We taught that guy a lesson!” She then blinked, raising her gaze into the roof, thinking. “I wonder where Koru, Roru, and Boru are right now…” She muttered. Well, hopefully, two of them hadn’t been captured by an evil organization while the other trained with a beautiful female warrior digimon to save them or something like that… right? Nah, they were probably fine. This train of thought was stopped immediately, when Jazz’s eye corner caught Katherine staring at the door at the end of the hall, just standing still. The sight to make the girl stop like this with such a shocked expression in her face? A Sistermon Noir and a Koemon had just gone through the door, and were now at the end of the hall, staring at them, a deadpan on their faces. “What the…?” Her eyes wide open, Jazz barely managed to utter. A white bean of light engulfed both digimon’s body... they were evolving. When it vanished, they had turned into a tall metallic-like monkey and a blonde digimon woman with two guns. Immediately, Katherine reached for her digivice to scan them. Her expression turned even more horrified … These were Mega-Level digimon. Word Count: 2607/2000

"Not now, maybe later!" Anzu was pretty insistent on...not wrecking the place, actually. Akemi meanwhile started...counting? "Not that much younger than me, she's 13 while I'm 16 now." She was hoping that Anzu forgot the fact that Akemi had forgotten her own birthday this year. "And that's what I'm going with, maybe that nu-...Maybe Empress is her digimon partner? I'd need to actually ask and...I'd rather do that without my own partner being held at Cross Bless Fire-point."
The bean leveled a glance at Kath. "Yeah, I'm the former leader of a cult in the Dark Area. Kemi can tell you the rest of that story, I guess. I...uh. I don't trust myself to do myself justice." Or her friends, for that matter. Akemi then looked a bit surprised at the normally hyperactive/insistent-on-seeing-demon-goat Jazz showing...concern. Huh. "...She's fine, thank you for asking, Jazz. Despite Empress and Anzu's...animosity towards each other, everyone turned out okay....You're right in that I was really worried about her. As much as she grinds my gears...She's still my one sister, y'know?" It felt...nice knowing that someone here could empathize.
Wait, Kath got ROBBED on her first time in this world? Both Akemi and Anzu looked shocked at that revelation. "...That sucks. That really, really sucks." Akemi mumbled. "What kind of...any...What sort of thing thinks that it's stupid that a human and a digimon can care for each other? How's...How is that so weird?" Akemi had kept hearing of these...sorts of Digimon. Those who viewed friendship with humans as little more than a pox.
It was nonsense.
Anzu piped up, "It's good that you guys got out of that okay. Plus...I always love a good asskicking at the end of the day!" Akemi just put a hand to her face and...snerked? "You...I think you made that clear more than a few times." Anzu had, oddly enough, kept quiet about her family this whole time, though.
Did she even have any? That question was quickly interrupted by the appearance of a Koemon and a Sistermon Noir. Both who promptly digivolved. It seemed that in an instant, Anzu was faced with a bad, BAD memory.
For the 'heroine' that brought Gulfmon down, she who led her bullet through the head of the all-consuming beast...
That was in front of her. Anzu immediately seemed to explode into a cloud of black mist that gathered behind the other three girls, quickly digivolving into Mephistomon...Albeit with a panicked look on her face. "BLACK SABBATH!" she cried as she threw her hands forward, multi-colored energy coalescing into a searing hot blast aimed for the BeelStarrmon. Get it away, please!
Meanwhile, the MetalEtemon remained silent, before he began to tap his foot to a nonexistant beat. He started to sway forward...Before he took a running start for Jazz, and attempted to perform one -heavy- double dropkick aimed right for the pig-girl. Highly inconvenient, but he was made of metal, so it was gonna hurt no matter what!

While Anzu seemed to have acquired an aggressive attitude towards the sighting of these creatures, Jazz was still paralyzed by the shock. What the hell was Koemon doing in a place like this? Katherine, on the other side, knew this couldn’t be a coincidence. Something was clear: they had never seen Koemon evolve, so this metallic monkey with sunglasses was completely new for the duo. The digivice stated his name was Metaletemon. He was a Mega level digimon, and that couldn’t mean good news.
Unable to react in any way, Jazz was hit by this dropkick. Katherine was barely able to jump to the side, avoiding the pig girl to hit her after being jutted back, rolling on the floor several meters away from them. Meanwhile, Akemi’s bean had turned into a monster! There was no doubt, this was Anzu’s Mephistomon form. The masked gunned lady whom Katherine’s digivice had identified as BelleStarmon immediately jumped into the air, shooting at the demon. These enemies were not exchanging any type of words; they were just savagely attacking them. Anzu’s blast destroyed the door behind the shooter and it managed to partially hit the lady around her leg. She was definitely throwing her best at this opponent. 'Empress' evolved form fell to the ground and seemed to be in some pain from being scratched from the blast.
So Jazz couldn’t fall behind, right? She slowly stood up, her eyes glimmering while she stared at the monster in front of them. Katherine frowned at the sight of her partner not being that damage from the monkey’s dropkick. Why? This was a digimon who was two levels above the Chohakkaimon. That meant he was, at least in theory, as strong as Luke, wasn’t him? And the Valkyrimon had completely crushed Jazz recently, so what was going on? “Are you alright?” The curly haired asked her partner, turning at her.
The pig girl’s attention drifted towards her opponent. “I think I am.” She answered. “I don’t know what’s going on but I think…” She then began running towards the Metaletemon, her Roketto Dingpa materializing out of thin air. Katherine just moved out of the way, and stared as her partner tried to slam the monkey with her giant hammer.

There were a variety of thoughts that had been racing through Anzu's head, but the main one was a screaming urge to get Empress out of her sight. They were equivalent in power. Something that was odd, but not unwelcome. It meant she had more of a chance. To this end, she opted not to avoid the bullets, simply shielding herself with a meaty forearm. "...You bitch." She snarled, before she took off for Empress, aiming to strike her with her claws!
Meanwhile, With Jazz, as the MetalEtemon was trying to get back up (because he dropkicked the poor girl!), he turned around to find himself faced with a giant hammer, and a loud, resonating clang was heard as the Monkey went flying! Into a wall! Talk about a leveled field. He swiftly pulled himself out and slammed his hands together, dark lightning rippling forth for Jazz!
"...I...think they're just fakes." Akemi stated, holding onto her hat. "Empress would've cracked a jab by now." So would they get to the bottom of this?
