The massive metal head of the anubismon lowered a bit so he could look at those that entered with a barely concealed interest. The shock and awe was apparent and the anubismon knew for a fact that any of his current ilk in this age wouldn't have the sheer intense power or presence as he did. The guardian shifted forward, noting that two of them were quick to drop to their knee... while the third placed the mask at his feet. A small interesting gesture that wasn't lost on the massive being.
He'd reach down with a hand, tapping at the mask with a small rumble. This thing was still... alive? He could feel it's pulsating data and with a small smile tapped it a second time. The mask splitting in half and taking on it's own separate pair of forms. Two anubismon's, far smaller and far fairer than he. A female and male, both boons of their kinds. They'd chatter at one another for a moment before following suit with the kneeling the others did.
The large metal ears flicked and his eyes trailed down to yuuki as he spoke. They claimed to not be graverobbers, which the masked ones would confirm. They wanted knowledge and wanted to know about this structure. With a small huff the anubismon clicked his own teeth, shrinking in size to something much more comfortable. It would restrain him of much of his power save for when he was actively using it but... he disliked having people crane their necks to look at him.
"The scout keramon that came in here hungered for treasure, knowledge and everything that was golden. What he found was hollow chests, empty shelves and bitter memories of a false past. In his anger he lashed out and I cursed him with something no mortal should have. Knowledge, life and a treasure ever lasting. Once his data is done he will no longer need to eat, no longer age and will have the knowledge he so desperately craved without question. Such is the way of my kind and such is the punishment for those that do not leave well enough alone."
The anubismon gestured for the two others to move out of the way as he stepped forward. He'd inspect the trio, eyes shifting to something out of frame. Frowning lightly he'd snap his fingers and it'd feel as though the world itself shuddered, something had just changed and perhaps... for the better? Or for the worse? One would not tell. But now the companions were joined by another two... While finding that Eris herself had vanished!
"My knowledge of the past is limited to that of my empire for it's time was long and it's cities vast. Your intents are made clear to me by your actions as they convey what your words meant before. Many would of tried to take the mask and leave, finding that it's weight is far past their ability to carry. In both physical and mental sense. I will answer what I can, what questions you may have. But in return there is something you must do for me."
The metal anubis shifted slightly to look at those past the group.
"...And you need not clue in your new companions for they already likely experienced something simular to what you did. Perhaps? I know not. But your sigils that you now wear are unnessary. No trap or guard will harm you and those that lay underneath have returned to their rightful place at my side."
The anubismon almost looked a touch bored with this fact but... After a few moments he'd cup his hands together; giving each of the companions in front of him a small curt bow.
"I am the guardian of what you know as the temple of ancients. In my time we referred to this place simply as 'The gate'. You understand as to why."

Toki watched as the mask broke in two, worried for a moment, but then two more Anubismon materialized from the remnants of it. Was it some kind of prison? Either way he was glad he took care of it in case it needed a specific power to free them after it was broken. He offered them a warm smile and a bow, glad to see they were free and safe.
Then, the giant Anubismon began to shrink so the group wouldn't have to keep looking up to address them. He was grateful for the gesture. As the Anubismon spoke, he frowned slightly at the news he was given about the Keramon's greed and how that led to his state back at the base camp. He did however, disagree with the severity of the punishment. "While I'm sorry that the last person to explore these ruins was driven by such greed-fueled motivations, I...I'm not sure if such a punishment is deserved. To live forever burdened with knowledge one can't really comprehend...I don't know how many would be able to live like that. Is...there any way to reverse it?" He hoped he wasn't being disrespectful or stepping on Anubismon's toes about this.
Then, something bizarre happened. Eris completely disappeared and two new adventurers took her place "Wait...what just happened?" Was all the he could say. He offered the newcomers a friendly wave all the same before returning his focus to Anubismon.
"I'm glad that our actions haven't offended you in any way. We're not interested in riches or power, just the knowledge of what significance this place held." He said. The questions he should ask were currently lost on him aside from the general function of the temple, so he withheld those for now. Though at Anubismon's request, he looked at them "What exactly could we do for you? Is there something wrong that you need help solving?"
He was glad, yet confused, that the other two wouldn't have to be caught up to what was going on. The idea of this place alone was starting to make him a bit nervous and wary. From what the main Anubismon was saying, the other two were the source of the swirling data beneath them? He did another scan beneath them to be absolutely sure.
They referred to this place as The Gate. What sort of empire had to exist for such an elaborate structure like this to be simply called The Gate? "This is all very overwhelming and I won't pretend I know what's going on exactly, but I'll do my best to assist."

...That was rather complicated... so basically, whoever came in here was blinded by greed? So much that they forgot that their actions are judged? It was ridiculous to the point that Yuuki wondered just how foolish can one be. However, at the same time, he felt that the punishment is too severe. Basically, isn't that turning Digimon into a vegetative state? Or at least that's what he think he caught from the explanation. Forever dreaming, no needing food, and is immortal, unless he caught it wrong... either way, severe, really severe.
"...I shant question your judgement, o mighty one. However, is there a way to give him pardon or mercy, preferrably with conditions that you could impose on him? From what I caught, won't he become forever trapped in dream of riches, while his body entered stasis, and his soul unable to return to circle of samsara?"
And Eris... vanished, and in her place appears... two faces that he swore wasn't quite allowed yet to take a mission alone (thankfully he's here...)
"Kenny? Skadi? What are you two doing here?" Yuuki asked.
"...Aren't you cadets? Wait wait, hold on, I don't get," Hikaru muttered.
Either way, he need to recompose himself. "O Mighty One, we desire no gold, for knowledge is far more priceless than riches. Even if your knowledge only pertains to this place, then that's all we'll gladly receive and thank you for it. But yes, before we talk further I feel it's far more polite if we talk of what do you wish us to do. Me and my partner personally cannot promise you anything but our utmost effort in doing what you mandated to us."
Well, that aside, Yuuki and Hikaru also bowed again when the Anubian bowed.
The gate... huh? Why is it the gate?

Post by Kenny O'Hara and Skadi on Oct 4, 2019 8:12:44 GMT
For a brief moment, Kenny and Skadi felt their world shift and morph for a brief second as time seemed to move quickly in front of them, quickly disorienting them in turn. Just moments ago, they had no idea what was happening, but a few moments later, they would find themselves inside a mysterious temple, with a few familiar faces.
With a slight groan, Kenny rubbed his aching head and blinked a few times, as he looked around his new locale around him. Everything was a slight blur for a moment, including the figures around him, as he rubbed his eyes "Wh- whajushappen? We were just relaxing back at Ys a moment ago, and- Skadi? You OK, girl?"
Skad also looked a little woozy as she lay on the floor, her wool unkempt. Standing up while also rubbing her head, she stated, "Are you sure this isn't some kind of crazy dream I'm having right now?"
He first turned over to the Anubismon standing in front of him, standing about as tall as as an average adult human, while in awe at the sight of a live godlike Mega Digimon in front of him, then, he saw Toki, the guy who helped him accompany him to the Valley of Dragons with Aylin nowhere to be seen. And from the looks of things, the spirit wielder didn't seem to realize it was them almost immediately, just questioning whatever happened before waving at them, before turning over to Yuuki and Hikaru, also questioning what was going on. Immediately, Kenny felt stumped for a brief moment, not sure what to say until something clicked inside him. Mainly from Hikaru's words.
"Uhhh... to be honest, we're just as confused as you are, Yuuki. We must have come directly from the future because right now, we're supposed to be, like, fully fledged members of KIZNA." He tried to explain the best he could to them, "We must have been sent to the past by some unseen power out of our control. Sorry about that, I just hope you understand." He and Skadi did look a little guilty about this; they just hoped he wouldn't be angry about something out of their control.
Still, they would listen to the Anubismon in turn, as he elaborated about his trust to the group, his talk about a mysterious mask, and a simple request for a task he needed them to do, and while Toki and Yuuki told the Anubismon that they weren't interested in the treasures, just the knowledge, it itself an admirable trait, Kenny's... wouldn't be as majestic or fancy, but no less reassuring.
"Yeah, we'll be happy to help you out in any way we can, Anubismon." He gave a kind smile to the Mega Digimon present before him, "To be honest with you, we're not interested in the riches either. Both of our teammates are right; the knowledge is much more valuable to all of us, not to mention the experience as well." Skadi smiled and nodded as well, before she and Kenny bowed the same way the Anubismon bowed to them. Still, their heads were spinning as they still tried to comprehend what was going on. Just why did the Anubismon to send them back to the past, again?
So apparently, the Anubismon was the guardian of the 'Temple of Ancients', or 'The Gate', as he called it. That name sounded a little suspicious and eerie, all things considered. Just why did he call it 'The Gate', exactly? Nevertheless, Kenny and Skadi would straighten themselves up, and listen with full intent on what the Anubismon had to say.

The anubismon frowned a bit as they seemed to misunderstand the implications of what the guardian had meant by the punishment. He'd sigh softly and shake his head, giving a small somewhat reluctant shrug.
"I'm afraid that the effects aren't reversable at this stage. He isn't trapped in a dream state, he's a living breathing creature and when he recovers from the shock of such a 'curse' he will awaken. It will take some time. Suffice to say, when he understands his greed and the pain that it brings upon the world or others it will cease to be a curse of any sort and the energies I bestowed will vanish."
The anubismon stepped lightly, reaching forward to gently tap at Toki's chest with a finger. His frown would lessen and he seemed to consider the spirit user for a few long moments.
"Offending me is very difficult young one. As for what happened, your previous companion's presence in this time line threatened the structure of things and the success dipped from a reasonable margin to absolute failure. I decided that it would be best if another ally of yours would replace them. Fear not they are not harmed in any capacity. Merely placed back where they are safe and among friends. Unfortunately my ability to be very precise in the time stream of the world is... limited. So I took from the closest vein I could manage while placing her at the right junction."
The anubismon's eyes turned to Kenny and skadi, a small smile creasing the lips of the jackal and he'd give them a small nod.
"And yes, you are quite right Kenny. I am sorry to take you from such a time, but once you leave the temple your time will take you back with open arms and the boons you get from this place will come with you."
The boons of course being a reward, he was pleased to see that all of them were in the same mind to ask what he needed of him and the anubismon turned to gesture at the gate. Sadness shifting into his eyes. His ears would flick and he'd sigh a bit.
"I am limited to the temple and cannot leave this room unattended even with those that I would call my kin. As the lone guardian of the gate it is my mission to protect it and that which is beyond it. But the gate itself is inert. Within this temple there are a pair of artifacts, great in power and greater still in the time of their making. If you bring them to me I can reverse their aging and activate the gate again."
The anubismon turned his head, noting that most of them seemed confused as to why he called this place the gate of all things. Perhaps his vagueness in the manner was... Possibly a little too much.
"My kingdom was thousands upon thousands of years ago one that spread across the mighty desert. Our magnificint structures dotted the landscape. But as time passed the desert encroached, or people suffered and the land itself drowned in the land. We created a paradise deep underground that later became our tomb. The gate is the entry to our ancient city as is this shaft that goes all the way down to the bosom of creation."
The anubismon gestured to the massive hole that he had climbed out of. He'd close his eyes and let out a soft somewhat tired sigh. He would have to go further still wouldn't he?
"This paradise should never of been closed to the world. But in our grand vision of the world we never considered what boons we could give to it. And together as one we sealed the gate Eons ago when our empire was closed to destruction from that of the Red Plague. A guardian and his wards. If you help me open this gate I can promise you a gleam into paradise and succor unrivaled in this time. You seek not treasures or the sort, but further still I will grant you them."
He'd turn back to the group and gesture to the entry of the temple, his smile turning a bit warmer.
"Each artifact is protected by a puzzle. Of which you five will have to work together to solve them to release the artifacts from their resting places. When you have both of them return to me. Fear not, failure of the puzzle does not mean death. We are not cruel in our judgement or designs."
The anubismon stepped lightly to the edge of the shaft's entrance, staring up at the gate as it floated there; Inert and simply mocking the guardian. He'd grit his teeth a little bit and let out a soft sigh once again.
"My people when we were still young believed that those pure of heart would define the digital world. We put everything on that belief so much so we gave ourselves into a single being to wait for such a time after the red plague left us... Tell me. Does the village of terminus still stand?"

Toki tilted his head slightly at the look of familiarity Kenny and Skadi had given them. He wasn't exactly sure how much he believed in the idea that they had arrived from the future in some shape or form, but if that was the case, then it happening here just seemed to make sense. He was more concerned for them than confused about the circumstances at play, either way. "I'm not sure I really understand...but I hope you two are alright. That's more important to me right now."
The two of them were friends of Yuuki and Hikaru's...though the two of them also seemed slightly confused. Speaking of, Yuuki shared his sentiments and worries about the Digimon. Greedy though he was, this wasn't an appropriate punishment, so he asked Anubismon for some kind of clarification as well.
He stepped back slightly as Anubismon approached him, but relaxed as it seemed he didn't mean him any harm. He still had his reservations about what happened, but he nodded slowly. It seemed Eris was placed somewhere safe, though slightly displaced in time from where they were. Would she even remember her journey here, or was it as if she never accompanied them? If it was the latter, it would be awkward to explain this to her, if he should even mention it at all. "I'm just glad she's safe..." He said, relieved.
What Anubismon said next more or less confirmed Kenny and Skadi's reason for being here at this moment. Time travel...that was always the cause of some sort of headache in fiction, but to see it happen in actuality almost made him uneasy. He crossed his arms as he listened to the objective that he was giving them as well as the history of the civilization "Red Plague...?" Only one Digital World phenomenon really stood out to him as being anything resembling such a thing "...The D-Reaper?" He muttered slightly.
Anubismon's hopes for the Digital World resonated strongly with Toki as he asked questions about the current state of the world "Village? It's a city now. More cities and settlements have been built all over the Digital World since your time. It's quite the sight to behold." He said, though felt awful that he couldn't leave this chamber. "And we're here doing our best to support the World. So...I hope that puts your mind to ease, if only a little bit." he said with a bow of his head.
So the group had their task. Two artifacts and puzzles protecting them. With no threat of death, this mission become far less worrying than it was previously. "We'll do everything we can to retrieve the artifacts. I hope we don't let you down."

Hmmmm, that's far better than what Yuuki thought, so he nodded approvingly, content with the explanation. "I see, in that case forgive me for the misunderstanding. If the punishment is like that then may he find his own road to return to the right path then..."
So basically Kenny and Skadi comes from the future. "Alright, here's my order as the leader then... First, don't talk to me about the future. Second, the moment you returned to the future after all of this is done, tell the me of that timeline 'We've returned from the past'. That should do it somehow. I have many things to ask, but I don't want to cause any temporal paradox, alright?"
Hikaru chuckled. It must take the youth quite the mental willpower to hold back his curiosity and ask about things related to the future... but this is for the best. Hikaru nodded at Kenny and Skadi. "If you guys says that you're no longer cadets, then that's great. I'm happy to hear that you guys has passed your test. Congratulations for that one."
Hmmm so basically the Anubimon is asking them to get him some... artifacts or sort that seem to belonged to this temple? It's to de-age them? Red Plague though... what is it? He's aware of Black Plague, but Red Plague...
Toki mentioned D-Reaper, but Yuuki have no idea what is that exactly. He only heard about it in name. Either way...
"Very well, o mighty one. If you insist then we shall not reject. If you wouldn't mind, would you impart to us which route shall we take, and what we can learn from places that we have passed? For example "that place where light did not reach"

Being latecomers, Kenny and Skadi, despite trying to listen to the Anubismon's explanation about a 'curse' inflicted upon what seemed to be a potential graverobber, who first infiltrated the tomb, as best they could, felt a little lost, therefore not being able to respond properly, but nodding in agreement with Yuuki, and who could blame them? It was a natural consequence from suddenly being pulled into the realm of a Godlike entity from out of nowhere. If, at the very least, Anubismon did explain that the previous companion that they must have replaced were safe, and neither Toki, Yuuki or Hikaru held any ill will towards them, the aforementioned latecomers in question, so that was a plus.
But surprisingly (and thankfully, mind), according to the Anubismon, they didn't really have to worry much about a potential time paradox; once this was over, Kenny and Skadi would be back home, safe and sound. With a small but grateful smile, followed by another polite bow, Kenny replied, "It's OK. Thank you Anubismon for giving us an opportunity to help you out today." Skadi subsequently nodded as well, also indicating her thanks. Yes, they were still trying to mentally adjust to this place, but that didn't mean they were going to be disrespectful now, would they?
However, having to deal with Yuuki and Hikaru was a slightly different story; the former telling them to keep quiet about future events, and to tell their future selves briefly what happened as soon as possible, all to avoid a potential time paradox. "I understand, Yuuki. To be honest, it's not every day when you suddenly get pulled out of your own timeline. But I assure you, even then, we will not let you guys down." Kenny told Yuuki. At least, he hoped Anubismon picked the right new duo for the job.
Meanwhile, as Hikaru congratulated the dynamic duo for 'passing their test', whilst Kenny gave a humble grin to the fluffy purple wolfox, Skadi felt a little flustered by his words for a brief moment, with a slight but apparent blush coming onto her face, but ultimately, a small smile appeared on her face, "Awww, thanks papa!" She cried, walking over to give her dear old dad a hug.
With all that out of the way, they would listen to what Anubismon had to tell them: that he was stuck inside the temple, forced to guard the gate all by himself, and the only way to reopen to gate was to retrieve the artifacts for him. But why was it called the gate? Well, as it turned out, Anubismon and his people once ruled a mighty kingdom up on the surface, before being forced to retreat underground to rebuild anew. Kenny and Skadi listened intently, to help themselves understand what they were in for this day.
Much to Kenny's confusion, upon mention of the Red Plague, Toki had mentioned something about the D-Reaper. While Skadi shuddered a little bit upon hearing that name, Kenny sounded a little more confused and concerned, as he echoed Toki's words, "...the D-Reaper?" He wondered quietly to himself. That name sounded... pretty ominous, all things considered. He wouldn't be surprised if the Red Plague and the D-Reaper were one and the same.
Nevertheless, their task was to solve the puzzles, retrieve the artifacts, and return them back to him, and while death wasn't going to be a concern to them, a bigger concern formed in Kenny's mind; what if he let everyone around them down? What would Yuuki think if he just so happened to screw it all up? What if-
No, he wasn't going to impede himself with his thoughts. Both Kenny and Skadi turned to each other, both with a knowing smile and a nod. They were going to do this together. They weren't going to do this together, no matter what. They were a team! Kenny turned back to the Anubismon with a confident look on his face, "Don't you worry, Anubismon! Like what the others said, we'll make sure we get you the artifacts back, safe and sound! You can count on us!" He told him. He swore he wasn't going to let his negativity hold him back for once.
Skadi just simply chuckled to herself as she watched her partner proclaim to the Mega level in front of her. "I'm sure you won't, pal." She just said a little quietly.

”I would not harm one that has come to help me so.”
The anubismon sighed a little bit and nodded his head as the spirit user guessed what he meant by it. Though upon hearing that terminus wasn’t just a village… It was a city. He’d rub his chin thoughtfully at hearing that and that there were even more settlements outside of that. His head turned to yuuki and he’d give a small understanding nod once again. He could see where the other had misunderstood him.
”The first route that you must take is that of the left. The artifact there is used in the second puzzle on the right hand side. And it’s the left from the entry of the temple.”
He’d pause at the request of learning what that of the light did not reach. He’d grow a bit sad and then nod again. He wasn’t about to take away a reward from the group that was wishing to help him in such a manner.
”I will make sure an etching is ready for you. The energies of that hall are dangerous to anyone not of my heritage. Especially now of all times. Though once the artifacts are returned to me perhaps you could look upon them properly with your own eyes...”
The anubismon turned to kenny and skadi, giving the latter of the two a small bow.
”And I appreciate you being so understanding of the situation even if you are ripped from your own time. Once you have the chance, I would suggest that you look into the Red plague, or the D-reaper as it is known now. An enemy of everything we hold dear. For eons they have been a threat; perhaps someday we can interact peacefully but… It has been quite some time and I imagine they are furious still.”
The anubismon blinked a few times as kenny told him that they would get the artifacts back… Well if they did that would be wonderful. He’d give them all a small bow before turning back to the gate that was hovering over the center of the pit.
”...Take your time. Conserve your energy and resources and you will prevail.”
With that the group was allowed to move on, back to the entrance. There was no danger as the anubismon had decreed it to be so. There was very little here that would be considered dangerous to them in fact. The traps that would of triggered in their passing to the left hand side had… well already been dismantled. One of the anubismons from the masks was lazily sitting on a pile of gears near the entrance to the lefthand side. Grinning like a jester as they approached. Spinning one of the gears around a finger. He’d make some quip in that same language before heading to the right hand side. He’d be done with that side in terms of traps by the time they finished the puzzle no doubt.
And of course came the hall of traps, many pendulums, arrows and hidden floor traps were a disgustingly powerful maze of steps that they would of had to take if they hadn’t gone with the idea of talking to the anubismon first.
The room beyond? Well that was simple.
The puzzle room. A rather small room greeted them intially, a closed stone door on the opposite end of the room that no doubt was tied to the panels on the floor. There was no hints, there was no markings on the door to indicate how one should open it. Only time and effort would give them the answer.
There were six panels. Each one of them having a simple symbol on them indicating a number.
To the left was One and two.
In the middle was three and four.
To the right was five and six.
Each panel was slightly raised out of the ground where it found it’s home.
Anubismon’s voice reached out, a deep rumbling and bassy sort; not unlike when he first emerged.
”One panel will open two. Two panels will open three. Of those three, a single number will close two. That is all I can say. Of which panel does which depends entirely on your group. Each number is yours and your partner’s alone. Were Eris here still her number would of been different than that of Kenny’s and skadi’s.”
The voice would fade out, his advice and clues given. All that was left now was trying to find the right sequence...

At this moment, Toki really didn't want to be right. Unfortunately, it seemed like he was. The D-Reaper and the Red Plague were one and the same. The D-Reaper just seemed so eldritch in design. Could it or its methods ever be truly understood, or was it something that was always going to be unknowable and unsettling? It bothered him to think about something like that. Something they would never have a proper way of handling reliably.
This whole situation of the two, Kenny and Skadi, being ripped from their own time was awfully surreal. Time travel in the Digital World? What possibilities could that possibly open? At the very least they were taking it in stride. They seemed to know Yuuki and Hikaru, so he just felt like the odd one out and left them to their conversations, opting to silently listen and and consider everything going on.
It seemed as if the group was being sent back to the beginning of the ruins to start solving puzzles to retrieve the artifacts for Anubismon. "We'll be back as soon as we can. I hope I don't disappoint." He said as they were guided back to the entrance. The first room was to the left...so he would follow the path left to get to the first chamber.
The fact that it seemed to be far less dangerous than it would have been otherwise brought some peace to Toki's mind. He waved to the Anubismon, saying a quick "Thank you." As they moved along to the next room. The puzzle, on the other hand, seemed...unclear. He wasn't sure what was being opened in this context, so it looked like it was up to tried and true trial and error. At least they weren't tired or injured so they had time to think about this. "I don't think we'll figure out what we're supposed to do until we actually give it a try, so let's see what we're working with here..." Toki said as he took the first step forward to stand on the far left panel to see what would happen as a result.

”Disappointing me is difficult young spirit wielder. Have faith in oneself as there will be plenty that do not.”
The anubsimon watched the group go, shaking his head slowly. Success was never not an option; to fail in this would be catastrophic but… He had faith in this group especially with the small alteration to the time flow.
The smaller ‘mask’ anubismon returned the wave with a small grin; their ears flicking. It was certainly the male of the two that had been freed what with it’s slightly larger build and somewhat more… goofy demeanor. Then again the female of the two also seemed a bit like a trickster! Just what was their entire gimmick anyways?
In the puzzle room itself the panels lay bare and open to the party. With toki taking the first step in it’s solution. As is, he was correct in his assumption that they would have to do something to get something done.
And that very something in fact led to them progressing! While Toki stepped on the panel, two subtle clicks could be heard to his right. One was a little further away from him and the other was closer to him. If he stepped off of the panel the clicking would happen a second time, back on it would happen a third and so on and so forth.
This intial panel was the correct guess as if another was stepped on instead nothing would happen. Though at some point the female anubismon stepped into the room. Brows raised and head tilted. She seemed to be curious and watching the group. Was she here for a safety net? Or maybe just to satisfy her own boredom...

Hmmm, confusing. He knows there are six buttons right here, but he still have no idea what does that have to do with their mission except it seem to open something... But at the same time, what? Doors? Which doors? That one on the end? But they said two opens three, one opens two... and among of those three, one will close two? So basically... if they steps in all three correct ones, the path will be open?
So Toki stood on the far left panel, which is... one? This one is basically like some series of door, Yuuki guessed. "The number belonged to them and them only"... so basically, it's literally a guessing game? He looked at Hikaru, who nodded. Let's see... perhaps if they step on four there will be something that happened?
First Yuuki, if he heard something, then Hikaru would try on number five. If nothing happened after, Yuuki would step down and Hikaru would step in to try number four like his human partner did. Once they understand the part about "your number is yours and your partner only," they'll hopefully understand what's up.
...This is a bit confusing because they has yet able to imagine it.

As Kenny and Skadi entered the first room, the young man's head was still spinning quite a bit. Just why would Anubismon would strip a pair of complete nobodies from their own time to complete such an important task for him? And what exactly was the D-Reaper or the Red Plague, anyways? No matter how much he'd try to put this information into the back of his mind, it would still pretty much linger as the two followed the others into the first room.
And, true to his word, there was no danger to be had. Rather, they could only look around as they saw all the disabled traps nearby, along with one of the Anubismons from earlier fidgeting with the gears and responding to Toki in a friendly demeanour. If anything, those two were just grateful that Anubismon was a man of his word.
But as they reached the puzzle room, they looked in confusion about the panels on the floor, before Anubismon's booming voice emerged from within. 'One panel will open two. Two panels will open three. Of those three, a single number will close two.' 'Each number is yours and your partner’s alone.' Just what did it mean, exactly? If anything, Toki's panel had triggered something the second he stepped on it.
Then, after watching their team leader and partner test out the forth and fifth panel, it would be Kenny and Skadi's turn to give it a shot. Skadi trotted over to the second panel, while Kenny took a stab at panel 6. Like Yuuki before him, should Kenny have heard something, Skadi would get onto the second panel, and if nothing came, Skadi would quickly take Kenny's place on his panel, and vice versa.
But just as they were finished experimenting, the duo's attention turned over to the female Anubismon entering the room, just standing there and watching them try and solve the puzzle. Kenny's eyebrow just raised in mild curiosity himself, and Skadi just smiled and gave a friendly wave to them.
Hopefully, no matter what happened, they wouldn't let the group, especially Yuuki and Hikaru, down.

Toki tilted his head slightly, listening in on the clicks that occurred some distances away from his position. He crossed his arms as he pondered the meaning behind the puzzle. At least they had time to figure it out in a stress free environment. He remained where he was for the time being.
He wasn't sure if what the others were doing was the correct sequence, but he decided to give his own thoughts on the situation. "Let's pause for a second...when I stepped on this switch, I heard some clicks. One was pretty close, and the other was further away...so I suppose we should just listen for which panel makes the clicks. So take it slow and see which ones activate which."
He tried to figure out where the next correct one was going to be. "Again, one of the clicks was pretty close to me, and another was further away. Try the second and third ones...then the ones further out. Try as many combinations as you can. Once you hear clicking, stay on a button, since I think that means we're on the right track."
Deep down he was intensely nervous. He might have guessed the right button first try as a fluke, but he didn't really understand how the rest of it worked. It was still just a guessing game as far as he was concerned. It bothered him that there was nothing else he could do other than remain on the button he was on.
"Actually, let me try something." He stepped off and heard the clicks again...then he stepped on it again "Ah, let's try this. Everyone, stay near each of the buttons. If you hear clicks coming from them, step on them!"

Unfortunately both panels that Yuuki and Hikaru stepped on didn’t yield any results, there was the faint shifting of the panels but there was no clicking much like the prior one that had signalled the correct step that toki had taken. It was likely a bit frustrating but thankfully there was more than one individual here to mull this over.
With skadi and kenny both taking a shot on the panels themselves; nothing would happen until kenny took a step on the sixth panel. Where rather than a full click and whirring of the system like toki’s had taken it was a half click. This part of the puzzle required two proper steps apparently! But they had gotten it, which only re-affirmed what the rest had done.
The only panel left at this point was the panel number three. The anubismon tilted her head as she heard the young human speak. This puzzle felt much like a children’s game to her but she knew the combination after all. It was simple, but she would watch and lean up against a wall; a cheerful grin splitting her face.
Toki stepping off and on the button over and over would yield the same results as before, but with everyone spread they would hear a clicking from right underneath kenny. With Hikaru, yuukz and skadi all standing around it they could all hear the third panel’s click quite easily. It seemed to be a sequential numbering. One would open two, toki’s panel being the first, the second step being the two panels. Would the two open three panels? Or just the third step?
It was time to find out!
