Rei gave...B a sympthatic look as he spins for the go ahead.
"Alright then," She glances down at her scanner, holding it up as it zips and whirs before settling. Two against one. Or...five against one. She was definitely outnumbered by their agreement...and it directed straight ahead into the shimmering horizon of the desert. "That way," She points in habit and begins her treading limp. At least they weren't trudging through heavy snow. Though she wasn't sure if the heat was any better. Standing around after changing, Rei hadn't noticed it. Now walking underneath the flaming sun of the digital world, well, it was getting to her.
She hoped this trip didn't take as long as the last one.
They would march on a while before Rei breaks her silence, noticing that they were going directly diagonal. Hmm? She shifts back on track, frowning down at her device. Nope, it was till heading the same way. She must've changed course without noticing, which really didn't matter. Her thoughts were like a stampede, so many questions, so many unknowns, and wondering if she should have involved herself at all in the first place for such a silly motive.
"So how do you, Scout, B, know each other?" Maybe striking up a decent conversation would distract her from herself and the heat. The teenager glanced back at the two aforementioned, casting a worrying one to Kai, and lingering on Kuro for a moment. Oh how she hoped she can make things right with the little digimon. Back to the horizon, and something glimmered in the far off distance. Something structural, but it was hard to tell.
Beep-beep-beep-beep.
Her digivice picked up its beat by a tad.
Looks like it was taking them there. Whatever there was.

Well, regardless of his opinion, it seemed that they'd be heading on their way. "Alright, Rei, lead the way." He just... Kinda wanted to get this over with. Preferably with all of them in one piece. He trudged after Rei, Kuro on his shoulders being altogether slightly too warm... and Shiro happily bouncing on ahead. The white Digimon seemed to have stopped caring about the hot sand burning his feet. He was looking forward to finding the next spirit! And any fights that may be a part of that! He wanted to Digivolve again!
"There's... Not much to say. I ran into him in the park one day, and we ended up becoming friends. Then he invited me to come along on one of his Spirit hunts, even though I didn't do much. Then I helped him out when his brother became a Tamer. When it comes to bringing someone who knows what he's doing to protect weaklings like us, he's the first one I think of." It seemed that Scout helped him a lot more than Kai helped Scout. Even with Takahiro, Kai had mostly said "I don't know" To all his questions. that wasn't much use.

Bright. Hot. Bleh. This was not as much fun as it had been when he was BlackGeoGreymon. Oh! There's a way to fix that, duh! As the other two talked, he pulled out his D-Scanner and picked the most appropriate spirit, "Charge. Digivolve to...FlaWizarmon,". His voice becomes raspy, almost croaking as he announces his transformation into a smaller, oddly-dressed humanoid carrying a matchstick.
Why this form? Simply. A hat with a wide brim. Perfect for keeping the sun out of his eyes. He laughs, as Kai speaks, and gives him a gentle nudge with an elbow. That laugh does not sound healthy. Like he's been going through ten packs of cigarettes an hour for ten years. "You guys aren't weaklings, I'm just here for the ride, to hang, and make new friends!" He still seems so cheerful, even as a creepy monster. Good stuff. "Don't sell yourself short, Kai,"
...No? That's it?
Alright.

Scouts light cheerful voice behind her changed into something horrifyingly raspy. She heard him say change but the evolution didn't register. What in the....Rei glanced back again to see some type of fiery wizard creature nudging Kai in place of Scout. She slowed her pace, walking beside the other two now as she closely examined the new transformation. It was strange to see the same cheery attitude on something that looked like it was suppose to be terrifying.
Ouch...weaklings?
Rei seemed to deflate a little, her pace slowing a bit behind behind the other two. Kai wasn't weak. But if he saw himself like that, she wondered what he thought about her? With her limp and everything? It certainly made her weaker than him. Plus he just called her a weakling, basically. Even if he did include himself in the category....and it wasn't like it was not true. It was. She was more feeble than anyone else here.
Sudden anger sprouted in Rei's chest and she puffed up. Who cares? She would show him. Filled with new determination she bursted ahead of them into a speedy walk. In tune to her new found beat, the digivice turbo-ed its noise. What she had saw as some kind of structure ahead, inched closer. Until what looked like miles turned into one. The mirage of the desert gave the impression that it was farther than it really was. The nearer they got, the more Rei could see.
It was a ruined town.
Half buildings standing, missing their wholesome counterparts. Some entirely destroyed with only the rubble left behind. It was a small place, but the devastation was clear. "What happened here?" Rei gasped as she slowed. There was no one in sight, not even attempts at rebuilding this town. Abandoned by those who used to dwell here. It reminded of her like some cowboy ghost town in a movie. Except without the destruction. Looks like they won't be around comforting civilization any time soon. At least they had water.
Beepbeepbeepbeep.
The D-scanner led her towards the partially standing...home? She wasn't sure. "It must be in there somewhere." The roof had collapsed halfway, leaning against the barely remaining two upright walls. It looked dangerously unstable and creaked with the brief wind that decided to hauntingly howl its way through the destroyed town. At least this time Rei had learned her lesson and didn't run headlong into the disturbed structure. "We shouldn't go in there." She sighed in a sort of defeat, ruffling the back of her head. Would it just appear out of nowhere like last time? Otherwise she really didn't want to risk it. Last time didn't go so well... "Unless we can clear it first?" Rei looked questioningly to Kai and Scout. Having big digimon knock it down and move things out of the way wasn't a bad idea.
Only if they were willing of course.

It was still weird to see Scout turn into a Digimon... To see anyone turn into a Digimon, for that matter. He'd have to get used to it, though, as long as he was with a pair of Spirit users. Anyways, where did Scout get that ridiculous confidence in Kai? Kai was just a useless guy who wasn't particularly good at anything, and probably wasn't even meant to be a Tamer. When Scout told him not to sell himself short... He wasn't selling himself short! He just wasn't as good as everyone else seemed to think he was! Why couldn't they understand that!?
"Whoa... What happened here?" Kai spoke simultaneously with Rei. It was a town... Or at least it had been. Clearly abandoned... And for quite some time, at that. "Whatever happened... Let us be glad that it was before our time." Kuro stated, gazing around at the ruins. This kind of destruction... It was almost certainly the work of a Digimon, and a strong one at that. Shiro piped up "Hah! If I'd been here then, I'd give whatever did this a wham! And a pow! And a HIIIZZZZAAAAHHH!" He illustrated each move with a cute swipe of his paw... But it didn't seem very convincing given the scale of the destruction.
"Huh... Given prior experience, I would have expected there to be a Digimon guarding it? But this place seems empty!" Kai looked around. "Kai! You'll jinx it!" The white Digimon thought for a second. "Actually... Yeah! Jinx it! I wanna Digivolve!" He got excited.
Hah! Step aside, human, and let me do the job! Kai, Digivolve!" Shiro stepped forward expectantly. Kai held his Digivice forward. How had he done it last time? He couldn't remember. "Errr... Digivolve?" Nothing happened. "C'mon, Kai, try harder!" Shiro was getting impatient. Kai tried again. "Digivolve!" Nothing. He was doing it wrong, he just wasn't sure how! Maybe it was because Shiro had just devolved recently? But it was far more likely that Kai was at fault. Kai shrugged. "Sorry, looks like it's up to you, Scout."

Scout can't help but grin a little as he watches Shiro dance around making paw swipes at the air. That is ridiculously adorable. He frowns as Kai's attempt to have Shiro fails, and gives the other boy a pat on the shoulder, "Um. Don't worry Kai! I'm sure that happens to lots of guys! I mean, not...me, but..."
Yeah, this place is...a mess. Jeez. He hopes no-one was hurt in whatever made the place like this, but has a feeling that they probably were. Ugh.
His fist tightens slightly around the matchstick, anger flaring up inside of him as he thinks about what, or who could've done something so awful. It takes him a few seconds to register that people need something. Oh! "Oh, uh. No problem! Charge and Up. Sliiiiide Evolution," His form remains humanoid, growing up to around six and a half feet in height. Red and gold armor replaces the loose robes and hat, as a long mane of golden hair flows down his back, "Agunimon!" Oh good. Even louder.
Still, he's a lot stronger, physically in this form, and starts trying to shift some of the wreckage with little concern for his own immediate safety. He has armor after all! And is ridiculously agile. Still, he could probably clear this a lot faster with his 'Pyro Tornado' attack. ...Alternatively, it could melt the spirit. Or more likely, the other people. Best stick with your hands, Scout.

Rei nodded her head in agreement to Kuro. She most certainly wouldn't want to have been here when...whatever had happened, happened. Imagine the panic, the fear. The screams and fleeing defenseless digimon- or even visiting humans- from the chaos. Just thinking about it made her despair and she quickly pushed those thoughts away. If she had been here...would she have done something about it? Maybe. She would most certainly help evacuate the place. Though she wasn't so sure about the fighting.
Shiro made a series of jabs in his declaration. He was too cute currently to be taken seriously compared to the devastation. However she didn't doubt it after witnessing Shiromon fight off that Ogre digimon literally right in front of her. "Well lets hope it stays empty." She bumped Shiro lightly with her fist on his head. The over enthusiastic digimon was going to get them into trouble with their luck at this point! She missed the joke that Scout-Flawizarmon made, otherwise he would have earned himself a bop on the head too. Rei had been paying attention more to Shiro's and Kai's attempt at digivolution. She didn't really get a good look at him then, thanks to Kuromons...fur fog? And not to mention she was distracted by her own transformation.
With the failed endeavor Flawizarmon stepped up to the plate.
Slide evolution...is that it was called from one to another straightaway? She supposed so.
From the Wizard to tall- even louder humanoid digimon, red armored with a mask, horns, and blond hair flowing behind in bushy lengths. In fact this one looked even more human than the last! It was pretty uncanny...to know such forms were still considered digimon. For some reason...Augnimon looked a touch familiar. She didn't know why... His strength was amazing however! Easily moving the heavy pieces of rubble without a care. Rei stepped closer to watch, crouching and holding out her digivice to see if might draw out the totem on its own. Nothing yet.
"How many spirits can one user have? Kai says you've got four already, so I'm guessing a lot more?" She turned to look to Kai, "Why do you think there's a reason for that?" She already had the inkling feeling why. Rei just wanted to see if anyone else seemed to pick up on that little note and that it wasn't just her.
By now most of the wreck has been cleared away, and Rei stepped in next to Augnimon, feeling quite small, and examined the area closely with her D-scanner held out. With no reaction she climbed in further, basically crawling underneath the roof that had yet to be moved. Seemed to be the correct pose of action. The scanner beeped intensely. She backed out, not wanting to crawl around the dark and further under the unstable piece.
"Its under there."

Kai ignored Scout's crude attempt at humor. The important thing was getting the Spirit, and getting out... Before it became true that he'd jinxed it. Oh, Agunimon. The form Scout had used last time, when demonstrating Spirit Evolution to Paige. Well, now Kai was going to get to see it in action. And impressive it was, as Scout cleared the logs with ease. Kai stood back while Scout worked. He'd just get in the way at this point.
"I'm going to take a look around. Make sure there's no guardian Digimon for this spirit hanging around like there usually is. You guys keep digging." There wasn't much else he could do. How depressing. Kai started away from the house where Scout and Rei dug for the Spirit. Shiro bounced after him. If Kai was right, he'd need Shiro to protect him! Shiro might finally get to Digivolve again! Sure, Kai had failed once... But why would that be enough to make Shiro give up?

Humor? Scout wasn't trying to be funny! He was totally serious. Poor boy. Nobody takes him seriously. Still. Agunimon is awesome! Throwing rubble out of the way, and giving Rei a thumbs up. "I've got four at the minute, yeah. But I don't know what the limit is. Maybe there isn't one, as long as they're all the same type," He practically yells. Ugh. "Mine're all fire, like I said. Never encountered another type, so...maybe this is all I'm meant to have,"
He looks at the roof. That's...a tall order. "I might be able to shift it...Hey! Come gimme a hand, B!" The black reptile waddles over, flexing his claws and adjusting his training grips. Between the two of them, they manage to move the roof, bit by bit. It takes a while, but after a few minutes, there should be enough space for Rei to get underneath, and find her spirit!
Hopefully.

"All fire based, huh." Once there was a sufficient amount of room, Rei got onto her hands and knees again, scrabbling her way underneath. She was worried that Kai would find a guardian to her spirit. In that case, she wanted to hurry and get her totem. She needed to be able to protect herself this time just in case....There! Further in the back, against the wall. A light shimmered into existence. "I found it!" She called, muffled slightly by the roof. Unlike last time, there was no...change. Instead, the totem slide towards her- actually straight to her digivice.
Rei peered at the flashing screen of her spirit....didn't she see something like this before? She made her way out, jumping to her feet. "Thanks guys!" Oddly enough she became more excited about finding it then before. "Lets got get the others before anything does happen." Rei scurried over the moved rubble. There was something she was forgetting....Oh! She turned back to Augnimon, rubbing the back of her neck. "Um, how exactly do you...digivolve? It happened on its own on the last one..." That would be good idea to learn.
Alas, lets say that Rei was the one who ended up jinxing everything.
A rumbling sound, increasing and echoing across the land. The unmistakable cries of howling yelps and ferocious growls sang above the charging noise. "What's going on!?" She cried over the racket. As if to answer her question, a cloud of parched dirt appeared in the near distance, stampeding closer in a rapid rate.
You've got to be kidding!
Whatever it was glinting blindly from the sun's rays. Before she knew it... the pack was over the edge of the town! A pack of what looked like giant purple wolves, snarling fangs, and dangerous blades projecting over...bladed claws. These things were menacing! Even worse than the Ogre! There was twelve of them at least. And they looked horrendously strong. There was no use running now.
Where did they even come from!?
Rei shouted to Augnimon. "HOW DO I DIGIVOLVE?" She sprinted the short gap back to him just as the wolves descended upon them, halting their stampede to circle the three. Eyes were hidden behind pointy armor, but she was sure they were filled with wild and angry hunger. The digimon stalked slowly, as if waiting for the right moment of attack, and she held her breath like it would keep them from pouncing. Rei edged behind Scout and B, hoping he had heard and would answer her.
Where was Kai? The closest wolf charged first at Augnimon, snapping with its powerful jaws... then the rest followed.

By the time Kai had seen them, it was too late! The pack had already surrounded him... How had he not noticed! He couldn't warn Scout and Rei unless he could get through them! "Don't sweat it! I don't have to Digivolve to take out punks like these!" Shiro announced boldly. Kai wasn't so sure. Every time Shiro attacked, he just got casually slapped away. He needed to Digivolve... But Kai wasn't sure how! After his last failure, he'd lost confidence in his abilities...
"Not a lot of time, Kai. Do it!" Kuro screeched, leaping from his shoulder so her larger form wouldn't crush him. She was right, they didn't have the time to be wishy washy. He raised the Digivice and shouted "Digivolve!"
To his surprise, it actually worked! "KoShiromon digivolve to... Shiromon!" "KoKuromon digivolve to... Kuromon!" The two digimon stood between him and the others. They were still... Heavily outnumbered. He had to get back to Scout and Rei! Fortunately Scout was with Rei, and could protect her... He didn't want to imagine what would happen otherwise.
Kai pulled himself onto Shiro's back. Shiro's fur was rough and awkward to sit on, but he knew Kuro wouldn't want to be ridden, no matter what. "Shiro, break through! We have to get to Scout and Rei!" "Got it!" Shiro lowered his head and charged, the monsters in his way diving to either side. Kuro followed through the breach. The three charged forward to find Rei and Scout also fighting with similar monsters.
Rei! Scout! Are you guys okay!? Where'd these things come from!?

Gah! Wolves! What?!
Right. No time to get distracted, Scout. He raises his arms in a defensive stance, since he isn't sure even he can talk them out of this kind of trouble. "Just do what you did to change back. Bring up the spirit on your screen. Think. Focus. Shout a phrase like a mantra, maybe, like I did," Duck! ...No?
Nope. No ducking. "Pyro Punch!" His fist becomes enshrouded in fire as he lashes out, delivering a swift punch to the first attacker's snout, trying to knock it out of the way. There are so many though, and what about Kai? No. Shiro and Kuro can Digivolve now. He'll be fine.
"Pepper Breath!" BlackAgumon joins the battle, unsurprisingly, releasing a ball of purple fire from his mouth. It rushes towards the flank of one of the other attackers, but he doesn't pause to see if it hits. He turns to regard another attacker. He moves around Rei to provide her with additional cover until she can figure out her D-Scanner.
"We're fine! No idea where they came from! There's a lot of them, though," Ooh. Scout doesn't sound as happy as he usually does. Hell, these things could be responsible for what happened to the town. Regardless, they're attacking innocent people walking through some ruins. If it's their territory, they should've just asked them to leave!
Oooh. He's getting maaaad. And it's starting to show as he makes more aggressive attacks.

There was much to go off of from Scout. He seemed to do everything by intuition...though Rei would love a step by step booklet. Looks like that's just not how things were worked around. Do or die. In the midst of the chaos, Kai broke through on the back of Shiromon. He shouted something but she didn't hear, too focused on the screen of her D-scanner. They won't be able to cover her against all of them.
It's now or you're dead Rei.
The intense feeling like before washed through her chest. Thats it! In a calm trance, her confidence built up and she held up her digivice, her small hand glowing with data. D-scanner.... Now she got it, forcefully swiping the appendage over the edge of it. "Spirit Digivolution." In any other situation, Rei would have felt silly shouting that out. But for some reason, it helped. Like the mantra part that Scout mentioned.
Rei was swallowed into a field of data, warm familiar flames wrapping around her like a coocon. This time she felt herself change unlike when she obtained Flamon. "Flawizarmon..." It was a quiet raspy announcement, one that easily got lost in the song of battle digimon. And there was no time to admire her new form...or inquire on the fact that it was the same spirit as Scouts. He hit the ground running, doing an uppercut with his red matchstick into the jaw of one who went for BlackAgumon. Letting digimon instincts take over in order fend them off, good idea. No thinking just doing. A strong hit, momentarily dazing the creature but not enough to actually do that much damage.
Flawizarmon weaved to the side of another pouncing Sangloupmon, getting out of the way of its excessive claws. In the same instant the match lit itself on fire, a fireball forming at the tip and discharging into the wolfs face. Magic Ignition. The same one before took the chance to swipe at him, after regaining its bearing. He ducked, barely avoiding the claws this time as the two relentlessly went after.
Each attack Flawizarmon created was as ineffective as the last. And one that seemed to prove to be quite useful...a fiery pentacle wicking into life underneath one of the monstrous wolves, trapping them in a barrier?... Nope, was instantly broken. Not for one minute did it slow it down. It only seemed to enrage it further. "My attacks are doing nothing...though if making them angrier was the idea, then I'm doing my job." He rasped softly, taking a stance next to the raging Augnimon. She didn't think the cheerful Scout could get this pissed off. And when did she get so sarcastic?
"Any ideas, guys?" Flawizarmon fended off another, spotting Shiromon- with the still clinging Kai- and Kuromon taking cracks at the heavy wolves nearby. They all were going to tire long before the attacking Digimon did, if they don't do something quick. He covered for BlackAgumon, keeping them at bay as he repeatedly fired his Pepper Breath. The least Flawizarmon could do was return the favor at this point.

Oh, Scout had turned back into Flawizarmon... No wait, there he was as Agunimon? One of them was Scout, one of them was Rei, and he didn't really have time to figure out which was which! "Take this! Heavy Claw!" Shiro attempted to rake one of the vicious attackers with his claws... No luck. It retaliated with a bite, and the two Digimon ended up tussling with each other as Kai had no choice but to leap from Shiro's back or be crushed under it.
Kai ended up with his back to a house. The only one among them who couldn't fight. The only one needing protection. It felt horrible. He saw Kuro, like her brother, tussling with one of the wolves. Her hair was all mussed up. She woulkd hate that. This wasn't the time to think about those kinds of things! Even though he was on the sdielines... Wasn't there something he could do!?
Wait... Four spirits... That was how many Scout had. BigAgumon, FlaWizarmon, Agunimon. "Scout! What about your fourth spirit, would it help!?" If it would, he bet that Scout would have already used it... But maybe...? Maybe there was a path to salvation yet?

"Fourth..." Scout pauses, "Okay, Kai," He takes a deep breath, flames springing up around him, "Sliiiii--" His voice falls silent. The flames grow more intense, and change colour. A violet inferno is soon raging around his body as it grows upwards...and upwards...and upwards. Colossal. Sixty feet tall? Maybe a bit more? Dinosaur-like, definitely. Horns, heavy musculature.
Hey! Maybe it's a giant GeoGreymon!
Despite being nothing more than a silhouette, it's obvious what's happening as the skin literally melts away from the body, followed by the flames. Left in Scout's place is an enormous, skeletal dinosaur. The sound it emits is nothing like Scout's voice. Like a long, droning moan. Almost demonic in tone!
He just...reaches down and grabs two of the Sangloupmon, one in each hand, and squeezes. There's a horrible whining sound from the two, before their bodies shatter into data fragments, all of which are evolved into Scout's body. He emits the same horrible sound again, this time almost deafeningly loud as he reaches for more Sangloupmon.
