They weren't given much time to consider what direction to take as three Gotsumon appeared. One was larger than the other two; was it a natural state of being larger? Or something that corruption was responsible for? More questions for later it'd seem. The tsukamon made a backhanded compliment along with a suggestion. Mana stepped back, likely for safety considering her apparent usefulness in the situation would be minimal unless the digimon needed to digivolve or something.
"Victory to the swift then."
A soft sigh and the spirit user took a step forward, his scythe lazily spinning in his hand. When the scythe head neared the ground on it's final rotation the spirit user stabbed downwards with an impressive force. He gestured outwards with his free hand at one of the smaller Gotsumon. Taking care of the smaller digimon would be a good idea, they would likely be more agile than their larger counterpart. In response several similar scythe's sprouted as if daises from around the Gotsumon in effort to damage it.
---------------------------------------------
Totem Scythe: The digimon stabs it's scythe into the ground and in response several other scythes shoot up from a target location. These can come from walls or even from ceilings.

The Gotsumon in the corridor were slow to react to the intruders, but, when the plant twins began hostilities, their eyes glowed a little brighter as they prepared to attack in return.
First, the two smaller Gotsumon raise their right fists, both of which shine a little as the red-yellow light of the glowing fungi and stones catch them, then immediately, both of them fire projectile attacks in the form of obsidian fragments, both with razor sharp edges. One is aimed at Ayaka, and the other is aimed at Suzuran.
The smaller Gotsumon that Kan was aiming at, meanwhile staggered as he was struck and chipped by the Totem Scythe attack. Bits of sharp obsidian sprayed off him, becoming one with the black data on the floor.
The third Gotsumon meanwhile, staggered a little as vines shot up from the ground at his feet, binding him in position. He could no longer move forward, but that did not mean he couldn't attack. Disregarding the vines for the moment, he drew his fist back, then punched the hard stone floor, sending a wave of energy down the corridor, sending sharp black stones formed from the data below to shoot upward. It missed the two smaller Gotsumon, and instead was aimed for the Spirit user that had attacked his brethren.
Meanwhile, the two smaller Gotsumon had disregarded the Flytrap technique, and both of them wandered onto it, becoming stuck fast from the plant digimon's technique.
Gotsumon A fires an Angry Rock at Ayaka Gotsumon B fires an Angry Rock at Suzuran
Angry Rock: Raises fist and sends a shard of sharp obsidian at a target with the force of a crossbow. Begins to lose velocity after 50 meters.
Gotsumon C fires a Dark Stalagmite attack at Kan
Dark Stalagmite: Punches the ground, sending a wave of dark earth energy toward a target. Along the line of attack, pointed rocks shoot forth from the floor, aiming to impale anything in contact with it.
Gotsumon A and B both fall for Suzuran's Flytrap, and cannot move this post. They are approximately 15 meters from the party.
Gotsumon A was hit by Totem Scythe.
Gotsumon C is caught up in Ayaka's Rootgrapple, and cannot move this post. He is approximately 40 meters from the party.

Okay, so, it's been 2 weeks since not hearing any responses from Leon and Trey, so I regret to say that they have been dropped from this mission.
Their replacements will be Tetsu/Gryz and Oboro/Gomamon, who can enter the thread when they get the opportunity. They can post at any point, but the first post has to take place outside the ruins for the moment.

Footsteps of gigantic bigger than normal sized bear could be heard from afar. Unlike the usual blue fur of Gryzmon, this one is black, still it's treated as a Gryzmon nonetheless. Gryz, in his Gryzmon form is currently pacing as best as he could to the meeting place. He lamented that Tetsu forgotten that he signed in this mission as a backup. Apparently, the boy had no idea that backup meant he can be called anytime. Despite the arid wasteland spanning as far as eyes can see, the Gryzmon felt like they need to keep positive... especially when he and the boy looked at the ruins that is their target.
"...He's not kidding, this is beary serious," Gryz commented.
"Do you think we'll be fine?"
Dialect dropped. Lately Tetsu seem to do that subconsciously when he's not feeling OK. Gryz nodded affirmatively. "We can do it," he answered. "We can do it and we will save this land."
...Despite so, the Digimon honestly worried. Last time he saw Tetsu changed. He did saw something gone wrong with Tetsu's digivice. Is it really a holy device? Or is it something else? Gryz always told that the Digivice have high affinity to something like the will of the Digital World... but... upon seeing Tetsu's that somehow colored more bleakly like the rest, he wondered what could possibly wrong...?
...Then, that incident at the tundra... it was seriously the moment he decided that the seer Babamon sounds like she's serious. The feeling of rage that he felt that day was unbridled. He can't let Tetsu get harmed again because he's not there with him. They need to get stronger. They need to push it to the next level of evolution.
"...We're late, we're sorry!" Tetsu said to the Coredramon waiting. "Tetsu and Gryz is here. We're here to help!" Then, without much afterthought, Gryz returned to full sprint inside. It'll still a while before they could join the battle.

Oboro and Gomamon had made their way to the dry, arid deserts of the Western Flatlands. Oboro liked it here a lot since there was no water to be found. Gomamon felt completely the opposite. Comically exhausted and dried out, the aquatic Digimon rested on Oboro's back as they made their way to the ruins.
"This place is cool!" Oboro marveled.
"So...thirsty..." Gomamon groaned.
Oboro decided to conveniently ignore his partner's cries for help. There would be time for them to refresh themselves once they got inside. Once the boy settled on an entrance he liked, he wandered in. There was some weird, green dragon standing at the entrance that he ignored, but a little ways inside he spotted a familiar pair. "Tetsu! Gryz!" He sprinted in after them without even knowing what was in store for him.

Tsukaimon proved himself to be lazy fighter when he could get away with it, enjoying that none of the Gotsumon had attacked him nor that anyone tried to order him around. Once the rock was no longer in the cross-fire, Tsukaimon finally decided to participate in the fight, with a sadistic smirk he said calmly.
"Friendly fire" as he spit a fireball after the third Gotsumon who was currently trapped in wines. For Tsukaimon it was much better to hit a target who had no way of escaping which is his reason for targeting that Gotsumon in particular. Terms like 'sportsmanship' was usually rather alien for the small digimon. He also knew that the wines would wear off soon so it didn't bother him that much to just set them on fire while he was at it.
Tsukaimon attacks Gotsumon C while Rootgrapple is active.

Attacks flew on and about. The exchange was... exciting to Suzuran. The last seriously fight in which she participated almost felt like forever ago, and she was sure to relish it as much as she could. Taking a step ahead, a predatory grin was already making its way through her features. "Going to do it. Cover me." Lest to say, Ayaka knew what her sister referred to right away.
Dodging the projectiles that were heading their way in the relatively narrow space would probably waste valuable time the fairy could spend positioning herself to make her attack as damaging as she could. So, while Ayaka evaded the shard coming her way, Suzuran moved just enough to not to receive the impact directly. Now that she was ahead, a foul, poisonous cloud manifested itself in the area the three Gotsumons were. Given that they couldn't move, this would be an easy hit.
And a fair amount of pain.
Meanwhile, Ayaka concentrated on patching her sister as well as she could. Reckless at its best, but as long as it was just her own safety what she compromised, it would probably be okay. Just like in the past, she seemed to be enjoying this. Ayaka evades the Angry Rock. Ayaka uses Lifebloom on Suzuran
Lifebloom: Ayaka concentrates nearby plant's nutrients on the target, enhancing its cell's (Or whatever the digimon have for them) regeneration rate. Heals for a rookie-level attack and cures one status effect. 2-post cooldown.
Suzuran gets hit by the Angry Rock. Active Passive Ability: Inevitability (After successfully landing an attack, all the damage and effectiveness of Suzuran's abilities is increased by 15%, up to 75%. Misses do not advance the counter, and it resets to 0% if she hasn't landed an attack with an ability for three posts). Currently at 15%. Suzuran uses Belladonna on the area encompassing the three Gotsumons.
Belladonna: Suzuran summons forth a poisonous cloud in a small area, affecting anybody who happens to inhale it. Deals half a rookie-level attack per post. Lasts three posts. 1-post cooldown.

he was able to land a hit against his intended target. However rather than respond to his attack like he figured it would they got caught by the flytrap of one of the two digimon that Mana had accompanying her. Angered by his transgression against one of his counterparts the larger Gotsumon directed an attack towards the spirit user. With a soft snort the spirit user planted their scythe on the floor again; though with the head of the scythe in the air rather than the ground.
"Not what I was expecting, but I suppose it makes sense."
The spirit user would grip the scythe rather tightly; unnatural energy springing to life in front of it. He'd shake his head warily; allowing the attack to dash itself harmlessly off of his Phantom Crest. Stopping a line attack like this was important, the close to the source would mean less damage to those behind. He'd tilt his head just a little bit; eyeing the largest of the Gotsumon. He deigned to simply wait now; with that cloud emitted from one of the two digimon and the Fireball from the Tsukaimon he didn't really feel the need to do much else immediately.
He attacked me out of everyone here, is it because he knows something? Like he can sense the variation in strength among our party? A probing shot? Or in defense of the other two? We'll see shortly enough.
---- Phantom Crest: Flexing unnatural power the digimon forms a barrier in front of it to dissuade attacks. While suitable against others of it's level or lower, against higher level opponents this barrier breaks rather quickly. One post use and a three post cool down.

As Coredramon anxiously paced around the entrance of the ruins, his attention was drawn toward more approaching figures. He saw two young human boys and what appeared to be a black Gryzmon and a Gomamon.
"Oh, hello" Coredramon said, tilting his head. "Are you here for the mission?". The black haired boy immediately confirmed this, saying that they wanted to help. Then without any further ado, the four entered. "Oh, well, good luck then" Coredramon finished, blinking a little.
Well then, hopefully the others would bring them up to speed, however well they were doing.
While they were pinned to the spot, the three digimon took the attacks. There was little any of them could do to avoid the poisonous mist. Even if they were creatures of the earth, they were still living stone, and their data flickered a little as they were afflicted.
However, just before the poison pollen reached him, the Gotsumon that had been hit by the Totem Scythe technique raised his arms out horizontally, then flashed white momentarily. He did not call his attack, he didn't seem to be able to say a word. But, the chips and flickering data weren't as prominent on him as it was on the other two. It was clearly a defensive technique of some kind. However, the damage was clearly starting to show on the obsidian digimon.
The second smaller Gotsumon meanwhile, continued with the assault. He aimed at Ayaka, and fired a second Angry Rock.
The bigger Gotsumon, meanwhile, took the Tsukaimon's fireball. The attack chipped off a chunk of the black obsidian that constituted his body. As the Roots that bound him broke loose, he saw that his previous attack had been deflected by an odd technique that the spirit wielder had.
In response, the Gotsumon drew his fist back, then punched a small globe of grey-brown energy at the roof. The corridor rumbled a little, then a wave shot forward along it. When it was over Tsukaimon, a series of sharp black rock spears formed, then all fell to the floor, aiming to hit anyone standing underneath them. With the corridor as narrow as it was, that seemed to account for all four combatants.
Gotsumon A uses Corondum Defense on himself.
Gotsumon A is afflicted by Belladonna (damage halved).
Corondum Defense: Increases defense from incoming attacks by 50% for 2 turns. [Cooldown: 3 turns]
Gotsumon B is afflicted by Belladonna.
Gotsumon B uses Angry Rock on Ayaka.
Angry Rock: Raises fist and sends a shard of sharp obsidian at a target with the force of a crossbow. Begins to lose velocity after 50 yards.
Gotsumon C is hit by Friendly Fire. Gotsumon C is afflicted by Belladonna.
Gotsumon C uses Dark Stalactite, aiming at Tsukaimon (and by extension, Suzuran, Ayaka and Kan).
Dark Stalactite - Sends a shot of energy to the roof of an enclosed space, which shoots out a wave of black energy. It shoots out until it's over the target, then sends about 20 sharp spears of black rock falling down on them and any other target standing within a 5 meter radius. [Cooldown: 1 post]
(OOC: Tetsu and Oboro can join in the battle now).

"Earth Sentry!!"
Gryz slammed both of his paws down the floor and made four blades made of earth rose from from the ground around him to block the attack from the Dark Stalactite. He had no idea just how strong these Gottsumon are, but his attacks should be good enough to block it, right? The bear Digimon stopped right about five meters behind the group.
"Sorry for the lateness, I'm Gryz, this is Tetsu. We're backup for this mission." Gryz explained. His calm face suddenly cramped at the sight of a vile bat Digimon that got his partner in trouble. Him again? Gee, should've known. Despite so, the bear decided to not pay that much attention. If Tetsu are able to keep a straight face, so will he. The Digimon readied his battle stance, but did not let the Tsukaimon away from his sight. No way, no way he'll let Tetsu got hit while he's around.
STATUS GRYZ (GRYZZMON)
PASSIVES Adrenaline Rush: -10% damage taken from enemies. Gryz can continue battling significantly longer while being wounded, either significantly or critically
ACTION Earth Sentry to meet attack from the enemy: Gryz summons four floating rock blades that will follow him for two turns, then if not used will fall back to the earth. Everytime Gryz attacked, these stalactite like companion will also attack the enemy to deal moderate damage. If he's attacked and unable to fully evade, this sentry will block the damage for half of an adult level attack. Gryz can launch them all for a normal attack. Cooldown for two turns.
COOLDOWN Earth Sentry: 2 turns left

Oboro stumbled upon the fight at hand. He shrugged Gomamon off his back, and the acquatic Digimon immediately jumped into the fray. "Let's do this!" Oboro shouted. He grabbed his Digivice out of his pocket and held it up high. Gomamon began to glow with an amazing light. "Gomamon Digivolve to...Ikkakumon!"The giant land narwhal was suddenly ready for battle! As much as he wanted to as soon as he noticed Tsukaimon in the fight, he decided not to engage. That little rat had learned his lesson last time. Instead, he turned his attention to the Gotsumon. "Northern Light!" In an instant, Ikkakumon shot a beam of ice at the closest Gotsumon. Battle Notes: -Gomamon Digivolves into Ikkakumon -Ikkakumon uses Northern Light on Gotsumon B

It satisfied the Tsukaimon to see that his attack hit as he had anticipated, he then saw that the Gotsumon decided to attack the roof which led a rumble to be heard. Tsukaimon just smirked at the Gotsumon.
Tsukaimon was not hindered by moral obligations to protect his teammates, without such inhibitions he was able to spot a severe flaw in Gotsumon's strategy. Sure it would be harmful if he was to stand still or fall back but there was nothing that prevented him from flying right through the tunnel as long as he could out-speed the rocks. He would rather selfishly have the others deal with danger and the old rpg saying "rocks fall everyone dies"
And so he rammed through the bigger Gotsumon at full speed wasting no time to think about the 2 newcomers which he probably should considering that their last encounter did not end peacefully. He held his breath just in case the poison was still active.
Battle summary Tsukaimon evades Dark Stalactite through rushing Tsukaimon attacks Gotsumon C with Fluffy attack

Backup? Unneeded, but Suzuran guessed that this would make this small skirmish considerably easier. "Guess you are replacing the Leormon and the monkey with the two lizards. Greetings." Given how an earth blade came to the attack coming her way, or at least diminish its effectiveness enough for her to operate with relative freedom. She took aim once again and released a swarm of vines that began to thrash against them. Now that they were outnumbered, this fight would be over soon.
Ayaka, on her stead, found herself facing another rock being thrown her way. Would they ever get tired of this? Unlikely; not finding enough room to evade efficiently, the fairy began to summon vines as thick as she could to lessen the other attack's impact. It would probably pierce through them, but at the moment this was the best could do.
She'd probably have more than enough time to mend both her own and her sister's wounds once they were over with this. Ayaka uses Wood Spirit's Song to lessen the impact of Angry Rock.
Wood Spirit's Song: Creates and compels nearby flora to obey Ayaka's command in a fashion similar to Gomamon's Marching Fishes. More effective the more flora in the environment. Lasts 1 post. 1-post cooldown.
If Dark Stalactite gets through Gryz's Earth Sentry, then Suzuran gets hit by it.
Active Passive Ability: Inevitability (After successfully landing an attack, all the damage and effectiveness of Suzuran's abilities is increased by 15%, up to 75%. Misses do not advance the counter, and it resets to 0% if she hasn't landed an attack with an ability for three posts). Currently at 30%.
Suzuran uses Wild Lash on the area encompassing the three Gotsumons.
Wild Lash: Roots and vines lash against all the enemies on a target location. Deals about half of a normal rookie-level attack, but has its accuracy and damage greatly augmented against poisoned targets.

Reinforcements? This quickly? The coredramon wasn't kidding when he wanted this done...
A strange technique used by one of the Gotsumon seemed to make it more sturdy; though the damage that it had already taken was still there. it could be a defensive ability of some form; it didn't seem as though it was a cry for help which was honestly worrying kan at this junction. Was it just the three of them? Did they not have more allies further in? Or were they buying time for something? More questions for later.
The next Gotsumon launched an attack of it's own towards one of Mana's two digimon. The very next Gotsumon launched an attack towards the lot of them; while it was fairly indirect initially the following effect of landing among them with the blackened spears of rock... Well, the spirit user had used his barrier rather pr-emptively hadn't he? And with the enclosed space making it hard to maneuver for friend or foe didn't really give him the opportunity to avoid the attack. He of course made a decent effort to divert a few of the blackened spears to the side of himself with his scythe. Though one of them found their marks quite firmly. A deep gouge in his right forearm making the spirit user tut at his own inability. He would adhere to a cautious approach to this mission from here on out.
Tsk... Foolish. At least I don't have to worry about the large one too much with how many blasted people we have now.
One set of the newcomers introduced themselves as Gyrz and tetsu right after making an attack of their own. At least they didn't really have to explain the situation before getting embroiled into the fight; that much the group could be thankful for. The next youth didn't bother introducing themselves, they immediately digivolved their digimon to the next step and launched an attack of their own. The spirit user shook his head and shifted slightly; moving closer to one of the walls. He took his scythe and smashed it into it growling in irritation. Another Totem Scythe would target the smaller gotsumon that he had before; even without knowing about what it's move did seeing as it hadn't called it out.
------
Totem Scythe: The digimon stabs it's scythe into the ground and in response several other scythes shoot up from a target location. These can come from walls or even from ceilings.

The three obsidian Gotsumon didn't seem to react to the arrival of the reinforcements. If they were normal digimon, they would probably have known they were outmatched and would have fled. But they didn't, or perhaps, they didn't have that ability?
However, if one was paying attention, the smoky black data on the floor of the corridor began to become more agitated in the fighting, as though something more than the wind of battle was disturbing it.
The next attacks rather did a number on the glassy black sentries. First, the newly arrived Ikkakumon struck so fast that the smaller Gotsumon had not enough time to react and was immediately frozen in a block of ice. Then, as Ayaka defended against the Dark Stalactite attack, her sister was struck by a shard of rock. The vines would have lessened the damage from the attack, but not blocked them, since the black data was by now corrupting the soil below, making it difficult for strong plantlife to take hold in it.
The Spirit wielder was also hit, who hit the first Gotsumon again with the Scythe attack.
Then Suzuran snared the three Gotsumon into a storm of vines. At once, the two smaller Gotsumon both shattered to pieces, becoming piles of broken black glass. Their data gradually dissolved and became a part of the black data on the floor.
As for the remaining Gotsumon, he saw the Tsukaimon fly through the falling rock spears and seemed to aim at ramming him. Well, in this time, the Gotsumon had been strengthening himself, like the first one, becoming as hard as a ruby. And so when the Tsukaimon bumped into him, he blocked with his hand, receiving very little in the way of damage. Even if the vines seemed to have become more effective against him, this attack did little.
After all, Rock beats Fluff.
GM Notes:
Gryz's Earth Sentry ability only has the ability to protect himself, so he wouldn't have covered other combatants from damage.
Also, Gryz was not targeted by Dark Stalactite (since he arrived at the same time as Ikkakumon, who was not hit), so the attack didn't need to be blocked. The Earth Sentries obviously still remain though.
Gotsumon A is hit by Totem Scythe and Wild Lash and is destroyed.
Gotsumon B is hit by Northern Lights and Wild Lash and is destroyed.
Gotsumon C uses Corondum Defense on himself.
Corondum Defense: Increases defense from incoming attacks by 50% for 2 turns. [Cooldown: 3 turns]
Gotsumon C is hit by Wild Lash.
Gotsumon C blocks Fluffy Attack.
