Continued from Chaos in the Wasteland"Insolent cur!"
Oh, this Myotismon was ticked off. Here he was, peacefully flying through his own territory, when suddenly the entire region goes to hell! The Vampire had already been forced to withdraw from the central wasteland - but even this far away, one of its agents had thought it prudent to follow him: the Musyamon!
The emboldened Samurai approached ruthlessly, uncaring of the Vampire's approach. Dark clouds meant to instill fear didn't even cause the bladed monster to flinch, an assault of bats merely turned red and dissipated as soon as they touched the warrior's armor, and a strong blast of lighting only left a singe on the Musyamon's shoulder guard!
"Cur? I'll show you who'll whimper like a dog!" Having some semblance of his mind left, left in this berserker-like state, the Musyamon gave a slash across the vampire's torso. The Myotismon gave enough distance to dodge past the range of the blade...
... So why was there that sickly red line across his coat? Gripping at the wound, the vampire further jumped back, staring down this problematic foe.
"Nothing I do even phases it," he muttered. "Now what... do I just cut loose?"
Minimum requirement: Champion or higher. Reserved by Cion!

It felt like it had begun anew... another cataclysm which had crept itself into the digital realm. Now it was likely the first one to haunt this incarnation of their world, but far was it from the origin of all suffering. Every cycle she had experienced had begotten a spawn of evil, either lawful or chaotic. From hearsay she knew it had been the case even before her initial inception as an Impmon uncountable millennia ago. War, avarice, agony and anguish... they were a part of the virtual existence, but that did not mean the people of this planet had to tolerate it.
There had been many battlefields Cion had participated in previous lives, hence this was nothing new to her, allowing her to approach things calmly and matter-of-factly. Although hired as a member of P.R.O.F.I.T. to investigate the rumors and dangers at hand, she would have done the deed even without compensation. Something threatened the well-being of not only her beloved family and friends, but perhaps the entirety of digimon-kind... once again. Naturally, the warden eternal did not allow a potential cancer to spread until it reached the good and innocent to consume them as well.
If only she had more information at her disposal.
Dashing beneath the clouds of perpetual crepuscule, a mere thousand or two feet above the barren, taupe earth of the wasteland was the CyberSagitamon's trusted companion Vertigo the AceJetmon Mach Mode. Blue blazes soared out of his ear-deafening engines with the vulpine soldier comfortably sitting inside of its cockpit. Scouting the entirety of the badlands by herself on foot would have been a task impossible to accomplish. Her buddy's fantastic scanners were simply too brilliant of an asset not to be utilized. Besides, member of the organization she was part of seldom worked alone, especially when it came to missions as potentially hazardous as this one.
"Two digimons engaged in combat - 2 o'clock. A Myotismon and a Musyamon. Strange signature indicate the latter being empowered somehow." Vertigo explained with a straight voice, making the armored marksmon lady sigh. "An Ultimate having a hard time against a Champion. Just like during that quest on Ceresmon. Bizarre." She more or less wondered out loud, waiting for input of her partner. "No signs of digivices. Shall we investigate?" "I suppose. Descend and throttle velocity. Keep on scanning - if one of them cries out for help we engage." "Affirmative."
Similar to a helicopter of landing plane on Earth, the ascended AceJetmon was practically impossible to not be perceived due to its audibility alone. That it was a pristine piece of modern, sentient machinery amidst vast nothingness certainly helped as well.

Apart from the battle with Musyamon and Myotismon, the D-Reaper wasn't going to take such a noisy occurrence lying down. In response to such a threat, the field had no choice but to try and down the threat, and as Cion would soon find out, its anti-air pressure was quite powerful.
From below, several of the D-Reaper's agents, 'Bubbles', raised their four arms straight into the air, a continuous and relentless volley of red energy shots careening directly into the AceJetmon's path. Even at its impressive speed, the D-Reaper already seemed to be able to compensate, and accurately predict the machine's path from moment to moment. Further, the Pendulum Feet, though not fast enough to directly pursue, nonetheless took to the air into AceJetmon's potential path - in fact, intentionally trying to run themselves directly into the jet from the front. Should one of them manage to - or even get close - the metal balls around them would detonate, powerful explosions threatening to tear them from the sky.
If anything, Cion's approach was doing well to draw attention away from those going for the core, but as for the battle below? The Myotismon only clenched his teeth: "Fine, then!" Kicking away to build distance, a dark aura started to surround the vampire, a cackle escaping its throat as it started to change shape. And from that torrent of black fire, a completely unrelated red monstrosity sprung from its form: VenomMyotismon (X).
"Ahaha! Chaos Flame!"
"Tch! Big one, ain't ya!" As an impressive purple flame tore out from the VenomMyotismon's chest, the Musyamon managed - just barely - to skirt to the side of the blast. Past that, going against what seemed to be any form of logic, the swordsman began a sole charge forward, moving right to the VenomMyotismon's foot. To counter, the behemoth struck an arm down, intending to snatch him straight from the ground!

"Additional combatants appeared. Neither digimon nor human. They perform an artillery barrage on us!" "What?" Cion exclaimed with shock unlike Vertigo who acted perfectly calm. What in the digital world did her partner mean with hostiles that were not part of the two known species in the multiverse? She honestly could not remember if she ever had fought such an enemy in her past lives, hence the ascended CyberSagitamon did not know what to make of the situation at hand. This required further examination, but for they first had to survive the incoming assault.
Unsure of their enemies' strength, the vulpine soldier did not risk the well-being of herself and her comrade and decided to shield the mechanical digimon she sat inside. Not bellowing as it was typical, she took hold of the empowered AceJetmon's control panel and channeled her energy into him. The power of her healing ability 'Data Recreation' quickly altered into a personal barrier for the dashing action hero which would be able to withstand quite a punch. "Update. Hostile moving in our path." "Tear through it and then soar down. I'll eject afterwards." "Affirmative."
The crimson energy beams took their toll on the shielding barrier Cion had granted Vertigo, but since it was forged out of the might of an experienced Mega, it endured. The good shaking she received from the impact forces had not been too pleasant, but nothing a veteran of combat could not endure. Still... the armored marksmon frowned, bewildered by the sight of the Pendulum. "That... what is that?" She wondered out loud, to which her airborne ally had a great response. "Doesn't matter; I'll dismember it like any other foe!" The AceJetmon declared confidently, his engines briefly flaring up before he immediately reached his top speed of mach 6.
"Hypersonic Lance!" Engulfed in an aura of pure, white heat, he attempted to reckless burst through the mindless fiend which in its way. Clearly wishing to commit suicide, the machine as fast as lightning tore through it like a sniper rifle bullet through an apple, fulfilling its wish. The balls of metal exploded around them, tearing at the mantle of Vertigo as he rapidly flew inside and outside the cloud of onyx smoke. It was in unstable flight that he descended towards the ground of eternal decay, aiming straight for the Bubbles.
Cion on the other hand wished to fulfill her part of the plan, purposefully letting herself be ejected out of the cockpit, only to intentionally get stuck on her companion's battered metal frame. Strong magnetism... what a wonderful natural force to be exploited. Not minding the wind power as she was safe behind her power armor suit, the Cybersagitamon carefully inched towards the living machine's nose while he continued to head straight downward.
As ridiculous as the sight probably was... nothing about it was not without intention.

If nothing else, the Bubbles proved to be a rather relentless force. Though some Digimon might tire after letting out a long stream of attacks, the several agent 'Bubbles' would never slow their assault. Perhaps the cables connecting them to the mass continuously replenished their energy, but whatever the case, the assault on Cion's conjured shield would be relentless, lasting much longer than the CyberSagitamon might be comfortable with.
They were granted slight reprieve by the 'Hypersonic Lance', quickly adjusting Vertigo's position, but simply running the Pendulum Feet through presented its own problems. Though the Pendulum Feet itself was easily felled, it did not dissipate into data when destroyed. Rather, like bug spatter on a windshield, the red matter that made it up caked cleanly onto Vertigo's hull, gripping onto it like a stubborn rust. Its corrosive nature could be heard with a tight hiss as it started to work away at the metal... and as for the Bubbles?
Like with the Pendulum Feet, these agents did not move to dodge - though with that straight line, their aim became more focused. A strong stream went right for the jet's center; another, for the left wing, and a third, for the mechanized Digimon climbing on its frame. Rather than concerning themselves with their own survival, the Bubbles seemed designed to just cause as much damage as possible!
Left unassisted, the VenomMyotismon didn't consider the Musyamon much more than an annoyance in its current state! Even as that grasp failed to pluck up the swordsman in his claw, he was much less concerned about it, even laughing as that toothpick of a sword picked against his thick hide! Oh look, cute, the samurai was trying to climb up! "Hah! Why don't you go on, see if you can take your ankle with me?" Not even using a move, the gigantic mega picked up that foot, starting to stomp and kick as that Musyamon held in with that sword...
... Wait, no, it was driving it deeper? Feeling a slight sting, the mega looked down, seeing the Musyamon's body give a tight, red glow, a fierce grin on its face. In a flash of light, a Goblimon, long unconscious, fell to the ground, as the sword took the appearance of a small spirit totem, quickly entering through that wound.
... And VenomMyotismon laughed. "Hah! You think something as insignificant as a mere champion's spirit is going to - !!" The vampire's words came to a halt, the beast quickly bringing a claw up to his chest. He staggered, taking a harsh step backwards before catching his balance... just what had that damn samurai done?
"I... said... I'm stronger!" He yelled, as if protesting to some unseen force! Gritting his teeth, he tensed both of his claws into heavy fists, the monster very quickly looking ill in the face...

Of course things could not have been as simple as she would have favored, but it was for that very reason that Cion was both a soldier and a member of P.R.O.F.I.T. - to deal with difficult challenges. Whatever these fiends opposing her and the hopefully not too vile VenomMyotismon were, their might was dangerous, mostly because it was not comparable to stages of digimons. The effects of their attacks were more real, even terrestrial in comparison. Power levels did not matter all too much, meaning the empowered CyberSagitamon had to be extra cunning to see through this endeavor.
"Disperse water and antifreeze to dilute the corrosive substance. Then on my command unleash a mortar!" The vulpine marksmon instructed vociferously, her voice almost unable to pierce through the booming noises of cracking winds and roaring engines. Thanks to their constant mobile radio communication, there had been no true need to yell in the first place. Nonetheless she preferred not being misunderstood, especially in these times of conflict. "Affirmative!" Vertigo responded positively, releasing aforementioned liquids from several mechanical glands to counteract the acidic roadkill.
Cion's golden eyes behind her helmet and visor narrowed, not surprised by the continued onslaught of the enemies which were like living anti-aircraft guns - if one could call them truly alive that was. Beams of crimson destruction soared towards the entirety of the ascended AceJetmon's frame, her previous barriers no longer protecting him. However, that was of no concern to her, as her adaptive heal was far from her her only defensive technique. "Now!" The cyborg bellowed, ordering the execution of her plan.
A blue flash was launched by Vertigo at the ground, dashing with similar neck-breaking velocity towards their destination. At the very same moment, the red lasers would have impacted with the futuristic mercenary's partner and herself if not for her invention. Conjuring a 'Prismatic Force Field' directly in front of the AceJetmon's nose, it served its function like an extra stury windshield. And if her altered healing-ability had been sufficient to negate the beams, then her powerful barrier certainly should have done the trick as well.
Quickly yet elegantly drawing her ultramodern anti-material rifle, she took good aim at the distant Musyamon through her scope. Her scanners indicated that it was indeed this digimon who carried the strange signature her synthetic friend had mentioned before - and the red aura located at certain spots of the samurai were a giveaway anyway. Although impetus, origin and reason were beyond her, it was evident that it and the unclassified enemies were somehow linked together. That meant... it was her target.
Just as the tactical nuclear explosion of Vertigo's 'Fission Mortar' ruptured a large section of the ground beneath the two fighters, dispersing earth and scorching flames in every direction, she took a careful shot at the Musyamon's chest. A high-speed projectile of solidified data whizzed towards the combatant who appeared to have not made notice of both intruders, being too occupied with the titanic vampire.
This was the deciding moment to witness what the corrupted warrior truly got.

Unfortunately, the D-Reaper's corrosive substance wasn't something that a simple chemical would be able to break through. The water would prove next to useless to the caked-on material, and though the antifreeze might help to dilute the substance, it would only move to streak further down its sides - especially at the speed that Vertigo was flying!
Nonetheless, against its rather stationary opponents, Cion's problem would pull through - not without a hitch or flaws, but with heavy turbulence, the mortar blasts would strike against the surface of the D-Raper. The blast easily encompassed the Bubbles, incinerating them within the blast... though, perhaps they had done all they needed to do. After all, they had distracted both Cion and Vertigo from the Musyamon and the VenomMyotismon for several seconds - and on top of that, Vertigo's current path would send it right over a thick part of the D-Reaper's field. If more of those creatures could simply arise from the mass, it would be dangerous to stick around at such a low altitude.
Still, Cion's own attack, trained on the Samurai on the VenomMyotismon's leg, was right on target, the half-glowing Musyamon struck heavily by the Particle Beam Storm. Cion would truly see what this corrupted warrior had to offer - as a long-weakened Goblimon, struck heavily in the chest by the blast, limply fell from the vampire's leg. In his own panic, the VenomMyotismon's foot unintentionally stepped right onto the rookie's body, leaving him nothing but a cloud of data in his wake.
"Get... out of my head!" The vampire, however, seemed to be struggling despite having offed his physical opponent! Red claws grasped around its head, the monster giving a primal screech to the sky...
... Followed by a moment of dead silence...
... Followed by the demon grinning. its head snapping to face in Cion's direction. "Oh? Where you going, pretty bird?"
The Musyamon's voice echoed out, the vampire's laugh following. Spreading its wings, one of Myotismon's own attacks came into vision, a massive flock of bats, each with red-tipped wings and red eyes, swarmed out in the direction of the mega. Would she choose to engage, or be forced to circle back around, over the D-Reaper's own field?
Log:
Corrosive damage continues on Vertigo. Bubbles have been destroyed! VenomMyotismon uses 'Midnight Raid'.

Well... for what it was worth, Vertigo was not only a dashing rogue of a sentient machine, but also a digimon of the Mega level. Indeed the corrosive substance ate away at his outer shell, but a single 'damage-over-time' effect was not bound to bring him down, especially after his contractor had done an excellent job of protecting him to the best of her abilities. Certainly it would dilute eventually, and an enduring, mechanical construct would not so easily submit to a singular attack, even if it was unbound to typical power levels.
Beholding the brief nuclear detonation beneath them, it was evident that the empowered AceJetmon's mortar had utterly annihilated the foes who had assaulted them. A short-lived feeling of relief entered both mercenaries' systems, up until the moment they made noticed of the aura which had consumed the scorched earth just as much as the Musyamon. While faint, it was clear that the bizarre signature had not only tainted individual entities, but entire parts of the digital world. It was not simply a virus, but an epidemic if not pandemic. Many unknowns lingered on, such as where it came from and how it'd spread.
With her partner rapidly decelerating and upraising to align horizontally with the taupe ground and murky, clouded sky, Cion made an elegant leap onto one of her ally's large wing. With a much more stable and broad surface to stand on, she watched as the projectile of her futuristic anti-material rifle apparently struck the corrupted samurai and took it out. This was... fishy... and her suspicions did not take long to be confirmed. It was the VenomMyotismon who shifted, assuming a similar vile ki as everything else in these wastelands. It did not even required the now dissolved warrior's voice echoing out of its massive, vampiric maw to grasp that it too had become another pawn of... whatever the culprit was.
Not wishing to be afflicted by this taint as well, the ascended CyberSagitamon knew that jumping off Vertigo's safe frame was not an option. This naturally imposed disadvantages on both of them, reducing their mobility and making them easy prey for the now hostile titan of a demon beast. But they were still outnumbering their new enemy, and were probably of equal strength since they shared the same level. Although how the plague would affect the decayed Myotismon was yet to be seen and grasped.
"Wherever we are needed..." The two synthetic fighters whispered to bolster their determination, which was likely inaudible to the gargantuan fiend in the distance. But there was no time left for talking as their possessed adversary was quick to attack them, fulfilling the impetus of the pestilence which had tainted its core. The ability was a swarm of artificial constructs in the shape of crimson bats which sought to relentlessly lacerate those they perceived as sustentation.
"Raise defenses!" Cion commanded, hastily utilizing excess energy to fire at the VenomMyotismon - a target likely too bulky to dodge her assault. With a sudden snap of her fingers, all of AceJetmon's alloys became engulfed in glaring blue code, a swarm of radiant nanomachines engulfing their vicinity. "Flare Barrier!" Vertigo bellowed at the same time, enshrouding his surroundings in a blinding field of pure heat, obscuring the vision of their opponents further and raising his armor as per instruction.

Leaving Vertigo's back was a bad idea for a number of reasons, the most notable being the vast, crimson field that would have been directly behind Cion's back. With how easily the gunners and the Pendulum feet arose from the area before, it stood to reason that it wouldn't be hard for further agents to appear... and heck, perhaps the field itself would try and pull Cion under?
This was all hypothetical, of course, as the Cybersagitamon stayed right atop her fighter jet. VenomMyotismon's flock was already in the air, the 'Midnight Raid' flock soaring over in Cion's direction. Both megas proved their resolve, a barrier of flame and a mysterious blue glow radiating around the sniper and gunner duo. The first few bats ran headlong into the flames as they suddenly appeared, dissipating entirely into trash data. The rest, seeing the defensive arrangement appear in full, instead moved to flock around, surrounding the jet, ready to flock in and strike the moment the flames dissipated.
As for VenomMyotismon, as that white beam of energy soared over in its direction, the enormous beast raised an arm and met the projectile with the back of his right hand! "Oh? So you two have a bit of bite to you - no matter! Venom Infusion!" Aiming his chest towards the air, a light green glow pulsed outwards, before letting forth a massive, translucent blast of energy into the air, up and above both Cion and Vertigo! Instead of simply crashing down on the target, however, the blast detonated in midair, sending out the corrosive energy to crash down in a pattern to surround the jet. All Venom wanted to do at the moment was seal their movement, as the titanic Vampire started to jog over in their direction.
"That gun won't serve you well forever, my bird!"
Log:
VenomMyotismon is a massive opponent. Particle Beam Storm will only affect the limb or area hit, instead of the entire body. 'Midnight Raid' largely halts around the barrier, moving to surround the target. VenomMyotismon uses 'Venom Infusion', sending the blast skyward before it fragments, raining down largely in the area immediately around Cion and Vertigo. VenomMyotismon is approaching!

Enshrouded in a surge of blue, digital energy and pure incandescence, the vulpine mercenary carefully watched the differently colored glows outside. Red, winged constructs swarmed through their haze, some fading from existence while many others lingered, awaiting the moment their cover ceased. Cion listened as the titanic host spoke, taunting them as per vile digimon's typical hubris. After all the centuries of fighting uncountable villains, it had become a joke to bad that it had gotten amusing again. A single, hushed chuckle escaped her lips while formulating a plan.
This one had to include not only the aforementioned hazards, but also the threat of a corrosive veil encasing them and the VenomMyotismon approaching them. At least her first projectile had struck the gargantuan vampire's hand, although that was pretty much the only upside the two fighters had at this point next to their great defense. However, they would not be able to hide and evade forever, and neither did the ascended CyberSagitamon intend to. After all, there were plenty of attributes to their opponent which were ripe for the exploitation. The armored marksmon and the sentient aircraft simply had to attain a proper position to utilize them.
"Protocol B.E.M!" Cion commanded, immediately coating herself and her partner in another protective layering which at first partially healed the empowered AceJetmon from the damage he had received prior. "Affirmative." The mechanical being responded, allowing the female soldier sufficient time to pierce through the blinding glare yet again to fire at the fiend's hand once more. And with the last of the dazzling sheen gone, it was time to commence with operation 'Brute Evasion Maneuver'.
"Terminal Velocity!" Vertigo bellowed, his engines flaring up like a solar flare. Within an instant, he reached near-top speed of mach 5. tearing through any constructs or hazardous substances as if he was a mounted machine gun's projectile rupturing tracing paper. Aided by her treasured friend's shield, there was no risky action the AceJetmon was not willing to undertake. Rising above the demonic beast with ludicrous speed, he circled it in seemingly random patterns, like a common housefly always out of reach yet incredibly pesky. Or in his case rather a living lightning doing as it pleased.
Thankfully, strong magnetism and inherent synthetic aspects were preventing Cion from staggering, much less suffering nausea. In this stage of her digivolution, most of her body behind the armor was biomechanical; devoid of many evolutionary flaws such as dizziness from a lack of a point to focus on. That did not mean she felt all too well being dragged around the air with almost 4000 miles per hour... but it was manageable.
Besides – there were more urgent things which required her concentrated attention.
Battle Log:

Second by second, the VenomMyotismon seemed to be further cornering his opponent. Though the Flame Barrier had made a good effort to stall the vampire's 'Midnight Raid', the bats would still persist as Vertigo's barrier finally gave way. Cion had to think fast - between the bats, and the rain of poisonous energy making it difficult to maneuver around, both the plane and the gunner were at a disadvantage in this war of attrition. As soon as the titanic Digimon got close enough so that his more immediate attacks would be an issue, Cion was going to have quite the problem on her hands...
... So, what better solution than to bubble up and fly away from the problem? The projectile, fired for the Myotismon's hand instead of his center of mass, was easily dodged simply by a bob of his shoulder. What was much more interesting was the AceJetmon's follow-up, cutting straight through both the poison and a few of the bats in the way! A moment later, the entire flock vanished into darkness, the remainder of the poison pelting the ground.
But the part of the 'Venom Infusion' that hit the shield would prove quite effective. For a moment, it seemed to do no damage whatsoever - but in the next, the shield wavered and vanished entirely, like slipping away into a mirage! "Oho! Flying around like a gnat, I see... how about some turbulence? Darkness Howling!"
With that one command, bringing his arms into his chest, a dark aura briefly radiated around the VenomMyotismon. In the next moment, he swung his arms outward - and the energy propelled itself away from its body, covering a wide area around the Myotismon! The weather within took quite a sharp turn, winds and crosswinds cutting through at hurricane speeds, with dark cutting energy, crackling with purple electricity, densely filling the area like a dark cloud. If Cion and Vertigo distanced themselves from the outside, they would find it next to impossible to see within through normal means! And if they were caught inside, well...
... Let's just say Cion might have a little more chop than she'd like. Log: VenomMyotismon's Midnight Raid expires! Particle Beam Storm misses! Venom Infusion strikes and utterly destroys Cion's barrier! VenomMyotismon uses Darkness Howling!

Neither the corrupted fiend's taunt nor the ruptured shield of Vertigo which had been fully depleted by the demon beast's corrosive attack put any dismay into the hearts of the two synthetic mercenaries. On the contrary, its hubris and the knowledge that they were capable of opposing it only bolstered their determination and valor. They were doing an excellent job of keeping themselves safe through defensive, evasive and disruptive actions. It was their way of causing attrition to ultimately seize an opportunity which arose from enemies doing mistake. And in their eyes... the titanic serf had just done one.
As the extreme storm manifested itself around the VenomMyotismon, retreating was a simple decision for Cion to make. "Keep distance!" She instructed firmly, her mechanical partner following her instructions and moving out of the dark gale. Natural meteorological disturbances did not affect the ascended AceJetmon at all, but the vile powers of the vampire adversary turned it into a great hazard, especially for airborne and inorganic entities such as himself and the vulpine huntress. And although they were unable to see anything from the outside looking in... they did not need to.
Knowing full well how colossal and hence sluggish their enemy was, she felt confidence in her believe that it had likely not moved at all, especially with the firm stance it had assumed to conjure the artificial storm in the first place. "Translucent Singularity!" Cion bellowed, violent surges of data erupting from her gloves which quickly teleported to the eye of the abyssal turbulency. Spending a great deal of energy, the armored sentinel conjured the trap to be as large as possible to trap as many body parts of the vitiated monster as she could. Anything to deal a little bit of damage and impede its movement or even stun it.
Of course firing another particle beam at the center of the dangerous gale, The CyberSagitamon HM hoped that he previous ability had fulfilled its job of trapping her prey and reducing its defenses for further assaults. After all, it was time for Vertigo to deal with it in the same way he had done with the Bubbles. "Fission Mortar!" He shouted as well, another blue flash being launched out of its underside guns after a brief charge time.
It too soared towards the VenomMyotismon's original location with the impetus of burning it to ashes in a glorious, nuclear display of technological might - particularly against a target already weakened by his contractor's debilitative skills.

What was this? Cion and Vertigo, at this point, were far from the 'bird' that VenomMyotismon was teasing. No, they were more like a fly, buzzing around the corner of the room with what seemed like an endless supply of energy! Concealed beneath the darkness, the vampire's cursed eyes kept a careful look to the pair above.
"Hehe! I wonder just how long you two can keep that speed up?" Taunting them, and seeing a bluish glint appear from a distance, the titan raised the same arm as before to swat at that low-energy beam. In doing so, however, he felt that same right arm get caught in a vice, temporarily unable to move by the effects of Cion's 'Translucent Singularity!' "What the... you little!"
And that wasn't all: kept half-rooted in place by that arm, the vampire had no means to get out of the way of the next blast: Vertigo's missiles were right on topic to sink right into the creature's shoulders. Should it land as intended, it would be very likely that the dominated creature would end up losing an arm. From there, he'd be on his back foot for the rest of the fight, slowly weakening as these two ingrates kept picking him off from a distance.
The samurai's pride would not allow that: just as the missiles neared, a bright, red light permeated from the mega's entire frame, a sickly glow piercing right through that veil of wind. In near the same instant, the bright explosion of Vertigo's missiles would ignite right against the monster's arm. However, no shriek of pain, nor spurt of data, resonated from the point of impact.
As the winds slowly died down, the reasoning would become quite clear. Like with the red field off in the distance, the VenomMyotismon, in that flashing instant, gained a 'coating': the entire surface of its body, from the tips of its wings to the bottom of its feet, now had the color and texture of the D-Reaper's field. The blast on its shoulder exposed a bit of the vampire's body underneath, badly burned and singed by the blast, but even despite all that the mass started to close around the wound.
This wasn't just a defense, either: from its body, and even slightly around, red bubbles started to form, slipping away like carbonated soda bubbles running to the surface. Opening his eyes - deeper, glowing red slits showing through the mass - he'd lock eyes right with Cion.
Oh yeah. He was mad.
Log: VenomMyotismon used 'Red Mode', gaining the shield of the D-Reaper. VenomMyotismon is struck by the Enhanced Fission Mortar! The wound is heavy, but reduced by 'Red Mode'. Red bubbles start rising from the surface of VenomMyotismon's body, floating off into the air...

"As long as it is necessary!" The two mercenaries declared simultaneously, utilizing a few of their more powerful abilities to both trap the demonic beast with reality-warping skills and heavy stopping power. Unfortunately, while the first step of their plan had succeeded as intended, the second had not fulfilled its main objective of 'incapacitating' the gargantuan foe. No - it became clear that it too had means to defend itself, although they appeared to have more of a painkilling effect than primarily preventing damage. After all, the VenomMyotismon's arm had clearly been badly damaged by the mortar, even with the crimson coating shielding him. At least any forms of healing remained weakened, if they existed that was.
That however was not all. Considering the red bubbles which it excreted, there was a decent chance that the protective veil also had an offensive component to it. Perhaps it was some form of counterattack, or something else entirely. Still, both Cion and Vertigo comprehended that this must not have swayed them lest they lose the only opening they had thus far. Particle beams when utilizied without prior undertakings were ineffective, which meant that their greatest asset - attrition - was no option on this fateful afternoon within the barren wasteland.
No... they had to be absolutely relentless. And prey which did not flee was ripe for the harvest.
"Exert continued pressure!" The empowered CyberSagitamon commanded, taking aim with her futuristic anti-material rifle at the scorched wound of the vampiric titan. The ascended AceJetmon meanwhile shifted towards the very same target, angling his engines as to circle it with his nose always pointing toward it. Although out of the ordinary, the corrupted fiend was certainly large enough to be targeted by the mechanical being's firearms.
"Energy Gatling Barrage!" Vertigo bellowed as the barrels of his two, big guns began rotating violently, For several seconds, an onslaught of hundreds if not thousands of energy projectiles dashed towards the VenomMyotismon, striking any and all of its body parts indiscriminately. This attack was not about precision, but raw force and large-area damage, even if it was not tremendous at injuring a specific location. Ultimately however, that was likely a benefit in this situation in particular, as it likely would utterly disrupt the self-repair function of the crimson barrier. After all... it was easy to repair a window of a house, but to restore aspects such as pipes, wires, cladding... now that was something else.
In any case, Cion was naturally willed to contribute to the plan she had issued. Her rifle flared up in a radiant blue hypercharge, sparks of pure electricity whizzing past her armored frame. With a pull of her gun's trigger, the electric charge got released in a booming flash of lightning, traveling with almost the speed of light to the burned, ragged wound her partner had imposed on their enemy mere moments ago.
The intention was clear - exacerbate the lesion further like a wolf rupturing the flesh of its prey with its fang, and shock its system down to the very core by sending a payload of approximately 100 MV right into a breach.
Battle Log:
Move: - Cion uses 'Shock Blast' to damage and shock VenomMyotismon - Cion can't utilize combat-passive ability 'Particle Beam Storm' ~ - Vertigo uses 'Energy Gatling Barrage' against VenomMyotismon

"... Futile..."
Even pressed on an apparent back foot such as this, the VenomMyotismon's confidence didn't wane. Covered in the armor of the D-Reaper, however, the boisterous bravado that the vampire held moments ago were replaced with rage, a sheer look of anger sharply chiseled over the vampire's eyes. Whatever these two were trying to do, however they were trying to fell its new vessel, the spirit was simply having none of it at this point.
Once more, Cion's voice filled the empty expanse with the Dark Area in an order - and this time, the VenomMyotismon reacted to that itself! Holding out one hand, the bubbles, previously idly 'fizzling' towards the roof of the Digital World, responded to the monster's very will! At once, like several floating landmines, a large section of the bubbles moved to position themselves between Vertigo's position and the titan himself, moving wherever the hand indicated. Once the Gatling Barrage was in the air, the two airborne opponents would understand why:
If a bullet struck one of the bubbles, the attack would fail to pierce through. Rather, the entire shot itself would be encased and held in stasis within each of the bubbles. Once one had taken one or two shots, it would once more start to float off into the air - a third bullet (or occasionally a second, depending on the size) would rend the construct completely, leaving its red goop to drip onto the floor. Like this, the VenomMyotismon easily halved the potential of the Gatling Barrage.
That wasn't the only thing the VenomMyotismon was about to summon, either: stretching his wings out, to the left and the right of the beast, the creature's flock of bats would appear once more. This time, each and every one of those bats held a similar veil to the titan himself - and the bats seemed much more aggressive in their approach, arcing off to the left and right before recklessly trying to dive-bomb into Cion and Vertigo from several directions!
In this short span, only one blow would decisively land on the VenomMyotismon - the Shock Blast. Striking once more at that wounded part, VenomMyotismon's arm would fall limp, resting uselessly at the creature's side. It hadn't been rend off by the blast, but by the looks of it, the arm itself seemed pretty unusable for the rest of the fight! The snapped 'Particile Beam Storm', on the other hand, would be caught up in the bubbles, just like the Gatling Barrage. After Cion had used it so many times, the vampire knew, at the very least, that that one shot would be coming!
Log:
Red Mode's bubbles are manipulated to create a field between Vertigo and VenomMyotismon. Any projectile caught in the bubbles are absorbed on contact. Midnight Wing has changed to Red Wing - VenomMyotismon attempts a pincer attack while their attention is drawn forward! Shock Blast disables VenomMyotismon's arm! Particle Beam Storm is caught inside one of the bubbles!
