Every Train Leads to Rome [Carrie/Open?]

Gotsumon lay in the mud, feeling it flow out and away from them as the mysterious being's tendril's began heating up. This was going to feel really, really bad, she knew it, but she couldn't think of what to do. Her arms were already bound, the thing was literally right atop of her. She was frozen as the rocks in her body began being heated like charcoal in a barbeque. She'd already died once, maybe this wouldn't be so bad a second time... then her eyes shot open, remembering Carrie.
"Wait, hold on, you're gonna regret this! I thin-" But it was too late.

Was there a warning? Siftermon didn't know; couldn't hear, and yet... the attack still managed to become less potent, slowly dying down. The digimon eventually disengaged, pretty sure that the battle was over, or that at the very least it wasn't worth continuing.
Had that been a flash of anger? Or just... lack of self-control? Amelie didn't know, but that much exertion slowly told her to undo her current evolution. Sure; the brunette could evolve back if she needed, but that seemed like a useless endeavor right now. Slowly, the hulking monstrosity that had been Siftermon began to degenerate, back into its human form.
Amy looked around in her usual daze after recovering her senses. Was Gotsumon there anymore? Had she been too rough on Catherine? What if she was actually injured? These and many more questions began to flood her mind.
Whatever had happened, she just hoped that no one was seriously injured.

The digimon lay in a crumpled heap, in the center of a muddy crater. Several of the rocks she'd used as teeth lay scattered about, as well as a few pieces missing from her limbs. Her fractal code began flashing as a signal to be absorbed by her opponent, fortunately for Gotsumon this wasn't part of the bet. Shattered like her ego and lost like her conciousness, her body turned back to Carrie. The good news was she was still alive, but bad news was that Carrie was in poor shape.
She was covered in scratches and wounds, parts of her clothes looked badly beaten too. She lay on her back, moaning in pain. It was apparent she'd never actually been in a fight before, spirit or otherwise. She tried to stand up but fell back to her knees. "Ow... ow... ow..." She repeated before falling back into the mud. "Amy...? Amy what happened?" She asked, a bit delirious from Gotsumon's sudden exposure to incredible power. "Who won? It hurts to open my eyes..." She mumbled, eventually regaining her balance enough to stand up. "What was that anyways? It didn't look... like anything I'd seen before. I-it's... it's so... ugh..." She looked sick just thinking about it. "Please promise me you'll never bring it out again unless you have too." She shuddered before falling back into the mud.

Just like predicted, hadn't it? The fight hadn't been fair at all, and the result had been rather obvious to behold; Gotsumon laid crumpled in the floor for a couple of seconds before devolving to Carrie, signaling an absolute victory.
What had been the cost, though? She had injured her friend in order to win a bet, and now she began to ask herself if the whole deal had been worth it. Because, right now... it sure seemed like it wasn't.
"Catherine!" Amelie's voice was raspy, and such a simple word almost got stuck in her throat as she ran where Carrie was, Tears were already welling up in the brunette's eyes she closed the distance. Yet, at that moment... she couldn't but feel an immense amount of hatred. Some of it was to herself, but most of it was directed at Gotsumon. Had she listened instead of recurring to a stupid bravado and this stupid way of solving the conflict, Catherine wouldn't be in her current state.
"It's fine." Amy tried to check for any kind of serious injury, but if she was able to get up, that should mean she was... more or less right, wasn't she? "You'll be alright; just rest a bit for now."
She preferred to save the explanations for later. Instead, the brunette just nodded to Catherine's words before looking at Cion, her eyes silently pleading with the digimon. "Can you... can you help her?"
Despite the answer, at the very least she'd get her friend out of the mud. Her clothes weren't in the best of shapes, but remaining there wouldn't help at all.

Indeed, the clash between friends and spirits had ended in the most predictable way - that was of course Amelie emerging triumphantly. The Gotsumon's hubris and chutzpah had not sufficed to overcome the reality that was their difference in power and experience, hence it had been vanquished brutally. But despite its violent disappearance, they combatants had adhered to the rules put forth by Cion, meaning there had been no reason for her to interfere. A small pile of rubble and mud was not considered an act of destruction, especially since it did not appear to bother any feral digimon living in the area.
With Carrie unbound by her specter, very much alive yet beaten, the vulpine ascendant watched as Amy hastily made her way over to her lost, injured friend. Smiling at this deed of compassion, comprehending that their bond was not swayed why whatever fool had attached itself to the teenage girl, the Arniomon too calmly and quietly made her way to them. And though her new acquaintance's pleading look was not necessary, for the silver fennec was always happy to help out people in need, it was a reassuring sign that told her that the displayed sympathy was sincere.
Nodding with a rapt smile, Cion stopped in front of the two, motioning Amelie to not get Carrie out of the dirt as to not disturb the intended process of regeneration. Clearing her throat, the Arniomon pointed a talon at the damaged dame. A faint aura of aureate light engulfed as the ancient sentinel gently moved her bestial finger upwards, in return causing the captured wounded to rise above the ground. A short motion towards herself and the lady was hovering upright. "Fate Weaver." Cion calmly utter, and with a snap of her fingers the deed was done.
In a brief surge of distorted reality, injuries and pollution reversed to a state of nonexistence, just before the Gotsumon had slammed into the amorphous earth. A second later and all flashiness ceased, leaving the haunted human healthy, clean and firmly with her feet on the ground. Grinning with pride, the tiny fox silently removed her fancy, black smartphone form her backpack to check the time. And while considering if she had to delay appointments, it became clear that her support was so as a matter of course to her that she had already shifted her attention to something else.

Catherine hugged Amy as she came up, smiling and laughing. "Thank you, thank you so, so much..." She let go and continued leaning on her until Cion worked his magic, naturally. At first, she was frightened, but when she realized what was happening she felt a great relief.
Carrie was speechless as she got repaired. "Oh my god..." She carefully set onto the ground, shaking. "How did you..? That was amazing!" She goes over to Cion, hugging him. "Wow, how did you even do that? ...Wow you're really soft..." She let go and shrunk away. "Sorry, sorry, probably still the adrenaline... uh... thank you." She bowed to the digimon before returning to Amelie. "I probably won't hear from Gotsumon again for a long time thanks to this..." She hugged her again.
"Gotsumon didn't say anything uh... too bad, right?" She tried to gather her thoughts, recalling what she said about her thoughts. Amy probably wouldn't think anything of it though, right? Just some mid-battle taunts to try and get into her head. "Now uh, let's go see if they fixed the train. You... wanna go get something to eat? I mean, if you didn't have any other plans..." She looked down and crossed her arms, before realizing something. "Ah! My backpack!" She began running to the train again. {Thread Exit]

Well, that had been a relief. Carrie was fine; maybe a little too fine, but that was something way less concerning than... everything else that had transpired in before. She took the sudden hug as a bit of a surprise but accepted it nonetheless. Catherine being this... upfront was definitely a rare occurrence, wasn't it? Oh well.
"I'm glad you're fine." And to say the least, that smile was completely contagious; the brunette found herself smiling soon enough, but then proceeded to look, then nod at Cion.
"Thank you." Those were two simply words, but in truth, the teenager was simply overwhelmed by the situation at hand.
She stared at Carrie's hyperactiveness with a bit of a dumbfounded expression, then ended up... nodding? Well, at least she owed her that much, and whether the train was fixed or not, the lingering feeling of guilt just made her follow her friend.
The question was, what would Cion do? [Exit]
