A wide smile began to tug the corner of Amy's lips. "See? I knew you'd find something useful in that store!" Maybe that didn't bring the two friends back to their fondest memories, but the brunette just couldn't resist that 'I told you' moment. It was just too satisfying! A bit smugly, she gently patted Ayumi's head, the smile not receding on the slightest "I knew our archangel of technology had potential, but this definitely exceeds my expectations! It's really amazing!"
Was the teenager not being aware of enough of her friend's personal space? That was a possibility, but she was frankly amazed at the kind of things that Ayumi had done, not even a month into the Digital World; that definitely showed promise!
Probably too soon to engage into that kind of chatter, since she seemed to be worried about Tetsu, but considering that Gryz had just unveiled they had more or less half a year of experience. That was... quite a bit, wasn't it? "Wow... I can only imagine the number of adventures you've gone through! Take you're really close to one other, aren't you?"
That much was obvious, though! What wasn't was the so-called 'new' areas of the Digital World. Even if, for her... everything was more or less new. "Take it's pretty interesting, isn't it? Discovering areas you didn't though they existed."

With Amelie coming so close, Ayumi's blush grew out of control, and she tried to subconscioust move her head away, trying hard to not let the confusing feelings resurface. "E-e-e-eeeeh, th-th-thanks, I try my hardest." She tried to distract herself by joining in to the talk with Gryz. "O-oh, so you are researchers too? Ah, that sounds awesome, hopefully there will be some crystals at our destination!"
And, there were indeed crystals. The spot Ayumi had pinned down was a simple salt bowl, a low lying area surrounded by dunes and the occasional crystal spire. The three humans and their two Digimon could easily spread out here. "A-a-a-ah! Here we are! This is where we'll dig for fossils! Everyone, come over here, I got shovels, brushes and what have you!"

...It was rather interesting to say, to look at two girls interacting and balance each other out. One is really shy and another almost got no sense of personal space. Even so, the grizzly Digimon smiled wryly at the two's interaction. Is the cheerful of the two trying to flirt or something? It was fun to see, and he wondered how would Tetsu think about it. Is it too fast for him to understand what's up? Then again he understood about the bear's feeling toward a certain charming Elecmon...
...Is he the only one thinking that these two might make a good couple?
"Not all of that is sunshine and rainbows, sadly," Gryz answered. Mentally though, he was feeling a bit relieved, otherwise his brain might overload with youthful blossoming flowers... it's not roses though, it's definitely... that, right?
Lilies.
"But you're right. The kid is like my little brother... I guess it's too far to call him something like a son, considering I'm actually younger than him age wise... I don't have any memories of past life though, so there's that. Which means I have no idea if I'm really younger than him or actually older, but in this life I'm definitely younger."
Ayumi seem to think that they're researcher, to which Gryz shook his head.
"Nah, Lass. We're not researcher. Just a guy and a bear who want to build a shelter in Spear of Megiddo. The area is new, and we have no idea where it came from. Apparently there are lot of treasures there too, but at times it's hard for people to find the right place to take a rest. That's why we're going to set up some shelters, you see? Who knows, maybe you girls could be our patrons in our shelters one day, hah. At any rate, that's why we're looking for quartz. Then we might ask some researcher in Terminus or Hardware Den to try to alter the composition to be fire proof and heat repelling if possible."
Hearing that they're close to the destination, Tetsu returned to the group.
"Well I got pickaxe, hammer, spades, bucket..." Tetsu continues to list the tool. Although it's not for fossil excavation, at least he seem to be right on track. "So where should we start digging?" he asked.

A smile was the last reaction from Amelie towards Ayumi before finally relenting. As amusing and cute her reactions were and as genuine the brunette's praise was, she could tell that she wasn't very comfortable with it. And the last thing she wanted to do was to make their resident genius uncomfortable.
While expected, it wasn't any less somber the answer she got about Gryz's and Tetsu's adventures in the Digital. Everything always being good and happy was probably what happened in fairytales, and... this obviously wasn't a fairytale. Yet, she was glad that the pair seemed to be at least close friends who supported each other when it mattered. That's what being partners meant, or at least that's the meaning she had given it. Being a spirit user, that bond was a bit... foreign to her.
Their goals were interesting, however! "Well, who knows! Given that the club travels around the whole digital world doing their namesake activity, we can probably end up meeting again at some point, but isn't t too soon to think about it? For now, let's focus on the present and the task at hand!"
Said and done, the group finally reached their destination. Now, the only thing they were left was excavating in hopes of finding something. For a second, Amy stared at the empty expanse, then at Ayumi.
"Should I evolve? I provide a little more muscle that way, but don't expect any kind of fine manual dexterity."
It was fair that the leader of this expedition would decide if the tradeoff was worth it.

Ayumi thought about both questions. "Well, as for the where to dig, I got a little sonar. It's primitive, but it shows us where there is something worth digging for!" She pulled out the small sonar device. "I suggest we take along the big shovel and the bucket to do the rought digging, then take a small shovel and a brush to do the fine unearthing! As for you, Amelie, well, if you and Solomon could look out for potential dangers, that would be wonderful! Do evolve!" She nodded at the girl, then turned on the sonar. "Let's see...a good first digging spot would be...there!" She then ran over to a seemingly random spot and began digging.

"Hmmm..." looks like they got place where they should dig after all. Tetsu accepted one of the shovel. It was funny considering that the shovel is almost as tall as he is. with him just a head taller than it is most likely. Not that he mind. The boy carried it as easily as any physically fit adult did. There are heavier stuff, like sack of fertilizer for example. He's used to this sort of manual work.
"Say there nee-chan, what should Gryz do then?" the boy asked, pointing at his Gryzmon.
"I think I'm meant to dig too? Well that's pretty easy," the bear answered to Tetsu's inquiry. "Should I evolve to perfect instead?" the bear asked. Granted, as Bearmon he doesn't have opposable thumb, so holding something might be hard, but as perfect stage Waru Monzaemon, at least he could do something.
"Hmm, but would you have the dexterity to do the work?" Tetsu asked.
"Hmmm, true that..."
As Waru Monzaemon, Gryz lacked the tool he could use for this sort of endeavor.
"...But then again you have magnet-sort of moves, right? Can it work against a certain material like these... you know, sands?"
"That's try worthy. I can hold myself back and only pull light materials like sand from that spot. What do you think, Ayumi? Worth the try or should I just dig normally in this form?"

Well, said and done. With a gentle nod at Ayumi, Amelie walked straight to Solomon's side. "Take they get to do the fun stuff while we wait for potential dangers, huh? Hopefully we may have fun the next time!
Raising an eyebrow at the mention of "perfect level", the brunette just sat brought out her D-Tector and willing a faint circle of data to form around her left palm. The rest of the process was self-explanatory and resulted in the lazy form of Driftermon plopping next to Solomon.
While mostly vigilant on its surroundings, the digimon became aware of what the group of excavators was up to every now and then. Had they made any progress? Only time could tell!
Until then, the digimon used one of her tendrils/limbs to lazily draw on the floor, even though the apparent result seemed to be some kind of complex geometric shape.

Ayumi rubbed her chin. "Well, you would be good at digging away the sand...but I worry you might accidentally harm the fossils, so it's better you de-digivolve!" She then tossed a shovel towards Tetsu and began to dig in the white salt. "Apparently the fossil is buried about 6ft deep, so we better get to it!"
Solomon looked in surprise and awe at Amelie turning into a Digimon. She hadn't seen anything like this since...well, since their meeting with Kan. "...Impressive. So you, too, are a Spirit wielder. I did not think I would meet one again so soon."

"Well you heard her, pal. What about this then?" Tetsu rummaged hisf infini-store, which happened to be the same bag that he's carrying. Why it was bulging then and why does he carry it like a bag? The reason is simple. The boy just like the feeling of weight on his back. Made him felt more pumped up for whatever reason.Truth to be told, if he truly activated it, it will be even more compact than an empty randoseru. When he did so, he puled out a small construction trolley. "How about you help by moving pile of sand somewhere else?"
"That's also an idea." Gryz agreed. He soon devolved to Bearmon and started helping.
The boy began his little excavation. As expected of a farmer boy though, his stamina is quite high. He seem to know how to pace himself so he's less tired than those who are not used to the labor. The posture also seem to be trained from making all the furrows.
"How are you doing?" Gryz asked when Tetsu pretty much made a hole as deep as he is tall. The bear has fortified the hole's wall with his earth based skill so it won't suddenly caved in.
"Can go on deeper, no worries here!"
"...He barely broke a sweat, huh," the bear muttered, wondering what sort of life does the boy have prior to this. It felt like he tried a bit too hard for some reason...
"By the way, how deep is six feet again?"
"Roughly about 180cm."
"Just a bit more then!" Tetsu commented. While he slowed down his progress to avoid harming the fossil, he seem to have much more energy to spare. Gryz knew kids are like really hyperactive, but Tetsu... somehow is on another level...

Now, this probably would be awkward for Solomon but truth was Amelie herself; maybe consciously, maybe unconsciously had forgotten to mention a key fact about her own evolutions.
They were the most optimal form of socializing, or... communicating at all. She could sense the vibrations coming from Solomon's place, probably corresponding to his voice. And couldn't do much about it except... well, try to communicate the best she could.
The tendrils that constituted the child-level's body tensed and relaxed, producing a rough, pretty low-pitched whistling sound; probably unpleasant to hear, but then again, she wasn't even sure of that.
"Mmmmmmmu... ttttee." Was it embarrassing? Maybe; she could've avoided that if she had explained to Solomon that her forms needed to get a little more... personal, in order to properly communicate.
She extended one of her upper tendrils, the ones that she used as limbs towards his direction, as if inviting him to take it. Again, a little embarrassing, but once physical contact was established, the Monodramon would be able to freely share his thoughts directly into her and the other way around, too.
In case he did, He'd listen to a deep voice inside his mind, even though it had a note of cheeriness that was almost befitting of a child. "So, uh... what were you saying? I can't reallyyyy hear or... talk while transformed. Sorry."

Ayumi was digging, but then stopped when she noticed Tetsu's Infinistore, and how it contained so many things. "Oh! Oh! This thing is awesome! I want one, too!" She fussed over it for a bit, poking it and prodding it, before she remembered the fossil dig. She struck a pose to hide her awkward blush. "H-h-humph! That I got distracted so easily! Anyway, back to the dig!" Eventually, the depth of 6ft was reached. Ayumi switched to the small shovel and the brush, poking around. Eventually, she spotted something: A grey cone! She immediately focused on it and dug it out!
Solomon watched as Amelie tried to articulate, and didn't seem to react much to being touched. His brief shivering signalized surprise well enough, however. After the initial shock, he quickly calmed down. "Telepathy, fascinating. Don't worry, I understand, we can communicate like this."

"Huh?" it was strange when his item is being poked, but it doesn't matter. The thing would just inflate and deflate when the button is pressed. Tetsu bought the strange type, the one that can be used for workout. When the button is turned on, it'll be like other infini-store, but when it's off, it'll still retain the infinity storage function, but whatever put inside after it's turned off will have their weight still affecting the boy while the bag itself can stretch indefinitely, thus making it looks like camping bag the first time they met. So he just let her poke and prod at it... of course, while smirking amusedly.
When she finally snapped back, Tetsu just chuckled. "Nee-chan, for your age you sure act like a kid too~" the boy teased, grinning cheekily. "But it's alright. Terminus Mall got them at quite the affordable price. I kinda splurged," he admitted. "But now I got quite a lot of useful things. For example, I can do this..."
Tetsu takes out his D-Terminal and clicked feed program. The moment he tapped on one of the picture, the small PDA-like object transferred it to his Digivice and soon let out a plate of piping hot curry rice.
"This is called feed program. I think Infini-store doesn't really store your food to its best condition, so I got feed program instead."
Tetsu aimed his Digivice at the plate of curry again and it dissolved into data, returning to his Digivice and returns to the D-Terminal. "Nifty huh?"
But all that aside, they found the first fossil?
Tetsu helped a bit by scooping it up with smaller spade. They should be careful now.

That had been quite easy! This being the first time that any of Amelie's spirits forms tried to communicate with another being with more than deep whistling sounds was something definitely interesting! Not to say, that Solomon had acclimated to this whole deal quite fast, not having into account the initial.
"Well, that's surprising." Her voice, once again, resonated inside his mind. "Doesn't feel a bit weird, someone intruding directly into your mind and putting words there? Talk about strange..." That statement was quite ironic, given that Solomon had to talk to her in the same way that she was talking to him, and she didn't seem to mind this method of communication at all. Not like she had a choice anyway.
Once that was dealt with, however, she went back to her first question. "None of that answers what I had asked earlier, though! What were you saying when you 'talked' to me? I'm afraid I didn't get it."
Back to Ayumi and Tetsu, Amy could feel how their movements became more agitated and... happier? Seems like they've found something! That was nice.

As Ayumi and Tetsu dug, the rest of the cone came to light. It was a *skull*! More specifically, it was the upper half of a skull. It laid in an old, metallic helmet, resembling that of a Tylomon, just larger, with a more crocodylian snout. The helmet seemed to have been built out of metal plates, with rivets connecting them. "Oh, Oh! This is definitely a fossil! Come on, Tetsu, let's see if there's more to it!" Ayumi began to dig and brush, soon locating the lower jaw, which was made of fossilized bone. She also spotted a vertebra and waved Tetsu over to see if he could help her unearth the rest!
Solomon bowed. He held the tendril in place and thought hard. "I apologise, I had not thought about that. I had noted the curiosity of meeting another Spirit User so quickly after the last one. And regarding your form: I know you are a good person, so what you look like is of no matter to me."

"Huh, that's a skull alright. Looks like crocodile rather than fish though now that I think of it," Tetsu said, poking at the fossil carefully. It's seem that it's a serious found, hmn... How can a Digimon get fossilized? It's interesting because at the moment at their death, they seem to get sent to village of beginning.Yet at the same time, when some of them died and they're particularly strong they became spirit. It's such a mysterious thing for the boy. Of course he helped the older girl on her digging... but at the same time, he can't help to wonder.
"Ne, Nee-chan, you're a scientist or sort, right? Do you know why these things formed? I mean... if a Digimon die, they'll be sent to Village of Beginning... but if they're strong enough and have some regret, they seem became spirits... but why could fossils exist like that?" he asked. "Digital world is too complex for a stupid kid like me, but I felt like it's a bit unnatural."
