As both Tetsu and Ayumi worked their butts off, Amelie found herself gently nodding at Gryz's offer. There were few pleasures in life than happily nomming a sandwich while she saw others do the hard work. But then again! She had just fought a giant bone-cat-thing and probably had some injuries in her body to prove the deed. Others could work for now, especially if they hadn't been in the frontline of life-threatening danger.
Not like she had enough time to eat her sandwich, however! Soon enough, the group seemed to unearth the fossil, and it had been way more successful than the previous one! This one seemed to be relatively intact, in comparison to the previous, and if Ayumi's happiness was a measure of anything, it was a pretty big discovery.
She took a couple more notes before nodding to Gryz's own question. "Well, see. I've taken journalism as a bit of a side thing and... I think the scientific community would be pretty thankful for this kind of stuff to have some exposition in the mass media. It's ultimately your decision, but if you could, I like to have a couple of... 'official' words, so to say? Oh, and take pictures. Those probably are super important."
It'd be a bummer if they denied her request, but she guessed that they wouldn't. After all, there was no harm that could come from this.
Ayumi was taken by surprise. Eeeeeh? Journalism? Statement? Is she gonna be in a newspaper??? Th-th-that's new! She blushed. "E-e-e-eeeeeh, w-w-w-what kind of statement do you want? A-a-a-and sure you c-c-can take photos!" She walks over to the fossils, still all red. "I c-c-c-could tell you a b-b-b-bit about m-m-m-my theories, o-o-o-or potential reconstructions of their in-life looks! O-o-o-or I could tell you about how we got them out! O-o-o-or how we got here, o-o-or..." Yup, she was definitely too nervous for her own good here. Solomon shook his head, and whispered to Amelie. "Go easy on her, she appears to have stagefright."
What's this, he's going to somehow get his photo published in the local newspaper? Tetsu beamed slightly, seeming to like the implication of that. Of course he don't mind to be labeled as sidekick or whatever, considering that he's not the one who proposing this hunt after all, but to have his part recognized, that make the boy really happy. However at the same time, maybe it's just Ayumi? Oh well, whatever, at least the present team acknowledged that he did helped somewhat. That's the most important for him.
"It's great isn't it, Ayumi-nee--...?" excitement on his voice faltered the moment he saw the shaking albino that seem ultra nervous. Looking at her like that, he chuckled. Tetsu walked closer to the fossil, then scoots closer slyly to Ayumi. "...Who thought that the Angel of Science have her moment of stage fright, huh~? Why don't you let them bask at your majesty~?"
After teasing the girl, the boy laughed and ran back to his partner who's still eating the sandwich. Gryz just smiled wryly at the antic of the boy.
Well, flattered was probably a little of an understatement when describing Ayumi's current state of mind. Amelie began thinking of the possible solutions to that problem, more or less agreeing with Solomon's words. How would she structure this...?
"First of all, I think you should calm down. After all, this is something optional." She told her friend, with a reassuring smile. No need to be scared! "Second, why not take it easy, for this time, or until you get used to it. First, let's take a picture of the digging team. Leader at the front, of course!"
She motioned the humans and digimons to pose wherever they wanted; maybe they'd do so next to the Velocidramon fossil? Or just amid the salty expanse? In any case, she'd take a couple of pictures after it, just to have some selection.
"Next, I think I should take some photos of the fossils." Said and done, Amy began to go through each of the discoveries, making sure to get each of those in close detail. That was the second step.
"A last... just tell me what you feel like saying about this; no need to give out a practice speech or anything of the sort; just how you feel regarding the fossils! I'm sure the mons will like it anyway! Oh, and if any of you." She added, referring to Solomon, Gryz and Tetsu. "Wants to say something too, feel free."
That would probably be all. If she wanted a more private interview with Ayumi, the brunette could probably catch her in a club meeting or something. For now, she hoped that the rest of the crew participating would help to make the girl feel less awkward.
Ayumi yipped like a little surprised dog at Tetsu's teasing. As he ran, she turned to him, face red in immense flustering. "H-h-h-h-h-h-h-hey!!!!!!" Even Solomon gave the youth a disapproving head-shake, though if he could move his lips to emote he would have smirked while doing this.
Ah, so Amelie wants photos? Sure, why not! "Ph-ph-photos? O-o-o-ok! Ee-e-everyone, over here, w-w-w-we're taking photos! A-a-a-and after the first batch Tetsu and Amelie swap places s-s-so she can be on one of them, too!" The Velocidramon was propped up before the group, so it could be in the shot, too! In her nervousness, Ayumi of course struck her Yumiel pose for the photos.
Next, photos of the fossils themselves, no problem! They already got the more-or-less assembled Mosamon, the giant tooth, a mysterious skull and the Velocidramon, that should be good. And a statement? "E-e-eh? W-w-w-well, I am q-q-quite relieved th-th-that my gadgets worked a-a-and my calculations were right! B-b-b-but I was also amazed at j-j-just how many fossils we did find, a-a-and in such good condition!" She gulped. "A-a-all in all I a-a-am super happy!"
"Whaat, it's a serious thing you know?" Tetsu drawled a bit "It's just a lil bit of fun Ayumi-nee, no need to be so nervous~"
Tetsu of course joined the rest, but not before Gryz taking out a tripod from the infini-store and a camera himself. "...Oh, right, I brought this for location surveying. Forgot that we have this. Would you like to use this instead, Amelie, lass? It's probably easier for you, but up to you. at the same time."
Either way, Gryz and Tetsu posed slightly to the edge, with the bear just plopping lazily on his butt with his perpetual zen face plastered and Tetsu simply aiming a fist forward in a pumped up gesture. That aside, though... on the interview section... Tetsu suddenly pat Ayumi's back. "What are you so nervous about? At this sort of time, there's nothing wrong in being a bit more proud about what you do!"
The boy grinned wider. "Remember, this is not simply because you found something, but you found a missing link. Can a Digimon fossilized? Why are they fossilized? These sort of thing could lead to various other theories. It's a big thing ya know? That's why..." he gently hold the older girl's hand and squeezed it reassuringly. "For today, just think how awesome you are. Face forward, chin up, take in a deep breath, and remember..." he pulled his own cheek "smile! Be proud, leader!"
Gryz just chuckled. "Well if you want any statement from us..." he looked at Tetsu.
"I'll just say that Ayumi-nee is amazing, her invention rocks, and it was her top notch instinct that made this adventure possible. It was really fun, seriously! But I guess two of us gotta skedaddle now! I mean, we need to find quartz for our own project! Here hoping to get LOADS of it!"
"It was honestly very nice to meet you two. I hope we can go on an adventure together. Solomon, grow stronger. If you have complex about your form or whatever... you can call me, yeah? I too, after all, used to have complex about my form... Especially after I changed into virus type... Oh right, here's our D-Terminal Address. If you have any business with us or just want to catch up, just give us a call," Gryz offered a piece of name card like paper for both Ayumi and Amelie.
"So for now, Ciao!"
The boy and the bear ran toward the other direction, where they possibly set to gather quartz for whatever project they're talking about.
Well, wasn't that really convenient? A tripod would help them not have to switch places constantly. With a bright smile, Amelie noded; and made sure to write in the back of her mind to get one of those, too!
Alright, the first steps had to be taken first. The brunette began to take pictures on different angles, going through the whole deal pretty professionally. Had she been practicing with the camera? Mayyybe!
Wasn't like that mattered much, anyway! Soon after all the statements were given, Tetsu and Gryz decided they had to run, leaving the two girls and Solomon to their own devices. Well; considering that he had tagged along momentarily, that was fair.
And thus, once every note had been written and everything had been said, Amelie smiled at Ayumi as she walked next to her; better for them to begin packing. "Hmmm. I have one last question, though. Take we're bringing these fossils to the club so you can examine them more closely, but. What would you do if others want to see them? This is a pretty big discovery, and I'm sure that at least more than a couple of curious digimons will want to check them out."
Probably not much else to say. Having completed the task the three were here for, Amy began to walk back in the direction of the closest Trailmon station. "By the way; we did some good work today, Ayumi! Thanks for bringing me along. This was pretty fun."
After so much praise, Yukiko was struck speechless, all she could do was wave at Gryz and Tetsu as they left. Luckily, Solomon could convey what Ayumi meant to say. "Thank you two, for all your help, especially with the sudden Digimon attack. And thank you for all the praises. I hope we can meet again one day and go on another venture. For now, have safe travels." Both Digimon and Tamer waved after them, then Ayumi called Usako to get a transport for the fossils.
Finally, Ayumi turned to Amelie. "E-e-eh? Well, I guess if we want to do an exhibition we could always show them openly in that base that Usako is searching a proper spot for. W-we could advertise them and everything!" She blushed again at the second bout of praise. "E-e-eeeeh, it w-was nothing special, really, but I did enjoy venturing out! L-let's do it again some day! I gotta stay here until Usako comes with the transport, so have a nice travel!"
One last wave as goodbye as the teenager walked away, a pretty big smile on her face. "Alright. See ya around, Ayumi! Take care!" She already had an idea for an article. Now, she just had to publish it...
Evidence points at both Water-dwelling and land-dwelling species. Causes of fossilization are currently under investigation. By Amelie Saboro
Recently, an expedition into the Shining Sea led by Prof. Ayumi Sakata and her research team yielded the discovery of no one thought it existed; nothing more and nothing less than fossils that correspond to —according to various sources— unknown digimon species! Whether those are long-extinct specimens or digimons that were never supposed to exist, that is still under investigation.
In a small interview with the expedition's leader, she expressed excitement about this great finding and a strong desire to unveil the Digital World's past. A close collaborator expressed gratitude at how professionally Prof. Sakata handled the whole expedition and wished her luck in her future endeavors.
If the discoveries prove to be accurate, at least two new species of digimon are under study; Mosamon and Velocidramon. Expect more news in short order!
Prof. Sakata hasn't given a statement regarding future expeditions but has expressed interest in continuing them down the line. Fossils currently not under analysis will be exhibited in the Digital Field Club's base of operation, in Terminus City.
