Yup, back to square one. Just stay there in case something happened, and make sure for Tetsu and Ayumi to remain safe. Thus far, she had been successful, even though the only real danger they had encountered as of now had been no more and no less than herself. Way to go.
By now, the symbol she had traced on the ground was pretty much finished; a complex geometrical shape that would have been pretty much impossible to trace without the digimon’s peculiar… physiology. Why she had written it? No idea.
She caught the rustling at the distance before Solomon made a note about it; the vibrations in the desert had begun as a small-scale event, progressively getting more intense with each passing second; when the Monodramon made a note about it, the fact that something was up was fairly obvious.
Preparing herself in case of a confrontation, she gestured behind her, hoping that Solomon would alert the group of the incoming danger. Mostly, because… it wasn't like she could.

Ayumi carefully unearthed the golden object...and it turned out Gryz was right: What came out of the ground was a huge shark's tooth, as big as Ayumi's torso, seemingly made from a dull golden metal, likely some form of Digizoid. The girl was quite impressed.
"Whoa, this thing is big! And heavy, too!"
She sat the tooth down. The triangular shape and the serrated edges clearly pointed at its former owner being some form of shark!
As for Solomon, he watched the Driftermon gesture at him, pointing behind her. While he did get that she was trying to tell him *something*, he misinterpreted her intention. Instead of reading a plea to tell the others, he saw an encouragement to take shelter behind her. Being the knight he is, he shook his head, and readied himself to confront whatever was causing this.
From the salt fountains, blue-ish grey bones began to emerge. First just small ones, they soon assembled to large limbs which hopped around, clearly seeking something. Two of the four limbs then began digging!

"And this is just ONE?" Tetsu asked. He took a lift at the shark tooth. It's heavy indeed, and being the shorter of the two, it just make it far more impressive for the boy. "Wow, take look at this... Rip in pieces if we encountered any of this back when this place is still a sea..." he muttered. Tetsu seem to wonder just how many teeth of this thing actually hidden inside...
Meanwhile, Gryz somehow heard sound of something digging. He unfortunately a bit too far from the blue bones to see what's up. Instead he wondered if the two has gone bored and also goes digging. Hmmm... As much as he want to help them, his presence is needed over here. Over there at least they can protect themselves, but these two humans, he's not so sure. Finally, all the salt starting to bother the boy enough for him to take several blissful chug of water. It's cold over here, so he wished he could bring something warmer, but at the same time, he knew if he did it'll be less effective to replenish his fluid compared to water. What he need most at the moment is water.
"Think many more is hidden under there, lass?" Gryz asked to Ayumi. "If my prediction is right, if you dig slightly deeper maybe you'll find one of the jaw there.

Crap. Solomon had misinterpreted her! Or at least that's what she thought right after he didn't seem to move an inch after her gestures. Oh well; that was the bad side of her anatomy (if it could even be called that) being a royal mess, wasn't it? Guess it was under her to alert Tetsu, Gryz, and Ayumi of the upcoming danger. Who knew what was lurking in the sands and if it was able to harm any of the two humans or the bear from its position.
Her the tendrils on her back began to tense and relax, the result being another whistling sound like the one she had used to communicate with Solomon the first time.
"Dannnnnnnn... gerrrrrrrrrrrrr." Hopefully that'd be enough for the others to be warned; if anything, at the very least they would notice that Solomon was steeling himself to face whatever was in front of them.
Hopefully they'd be able to handle it; if her senses were accurate, what was emerging was... quite big.

Ayumi seemed confident in...whatever it was she had just said. She followed the advice, and began digging for the jaw of this beast.
At least until Amelie's attempts at communication drew her attention. She looked up at her. Eh? Danger?
"You ok, Amelie? Is something wrong?"
Solomon seemed tense, too. Were they in danger?
Solomon watched as the...thing dug and found...a skull. As soon as the skull was touched by the limbs its eyes lit up, bright and red. The ground shook as more and more bones flew out of the earth, swirling and assembling into a huge SkullBaluchimon! It opened its maw and yelled:
"QUIS ENIM TURBABIT MEI SOMNIT?!"

What was the girl saying? Da---OHSHIT!! Tetsu was quick to react, climbing out of the hole and evolves Gryz as soon as he saw the bear's eyes widened. Gryz never really shown his eyes unless it's very necessary. Light shone from the Bearmon.
"Bearmon shinka! Gryzmon!!"
Tetsu quickly rode his partner but it was too late,The Skull Baluchimon already took shape. Gryz gritted his teeth in frustration. Can they make it even if they sprint!?
"GRYZ, ONE MORE TIME!!"
The crest on Tetsu's tag shines bright, but what exploded from the Gryzmon was not holy energy, but something akin to corruption.
"GRYZMON CHOU SHINKA!!"
Slowly rendered by golden ring that rises from his feet to his top is a figure of teddy bear, except it seem to jump out straight from horror movie. Half of its cotton head torn off, showing mammalian-like monster underneath. It's not entirely cotton based, no. It's different from a normal, considering that it's more like taxidermy fused with the more cottony part of its species. Sharp teeth also jutting out from its maw. It felt like it could work wonder in a certain jumpscare franchise involving bear in pizza restaurant.
"WARU MONZAEMON!!"
Tetsu immediately unzipped the back portion of the bear and entered in. The moment he did that, the zipper zipped itself up.
Their aim is clear. The moment the Digimon shouted, Gryz condensed ball of force that worked similarly to magnet. The target is clear, the Skull Baluchimon. If the attack is successful, Gryz would smack it as hard as he could with his fist.

It was a huge beast, seemingly made out of bones. Was it a friend or a foe? Given the bellow it had let out, Amelie wasn't sure of that, even though she hadn't been able to hear its contents. She held to the hope that maybe it was not somebody outright hostile, but given how Tetsu and Gryz had reacted, the Driftermon could assume that the enemy had already expressed hostility.
And that could only mean one thing; they had to fight. Sure, the power of what was near them probably far surpassed her own, but so did Gryz's after evolving twice; something not completely unexpected after hearing they had easily six times more experience than her.
That didn't mean the digimon could be a slouch, right? They probably would need all the help they could get; with prior warning, the tendrils, lattices and membranes that conformed Driftermon's body began to warp and expand, her size growing and changing in a short burst, and ending in its body decidedly changing into something way bigger and that frankly looked way more menacing. It was Siftermon.
Given their mission was just to protect the group, Amy would wait in the rear, in case more enemies were out there; right now, it seemed that Ayumi needed the most protection, and if anyone took her by surprise, things would just... not end well.

Ayumi was shocked by the rumbling of the earth, and the bellowing made her even more worried! She hurried to Solomon's side, where she could see the SkullBaluchimon taking shape and stomping towards them.
"Ayumi, stay behind me, this is dangerous."
The skeletal feline was blindsided by the punch thrown by the giant feral teddy. It was thrown aside, onto its side, but it quickly regained its bearings. It turned to WaruMonzaemon, and roared.
Aggredi ausus? Sentire iram meam"
It opened its maw and a light glowed at the back of its throat.
"LUX ANTIQUIS!"
A beam of light was unleashed in the direction of WaruMonzaemon. If not dodged, it was sure to deal a lot of damage!

Gryz know that it's such a risky move, but he can't let some Digimon who doesn't sound like it could be talked to just like that allowed to attempt to harm the lower stage. From what he gathered, he roughly said something about disrupting his slumber. These types normally needed to be cooled off somehow with pack of ice. With him at the same stage as the Skull Baluchimon, this should be a fight that he can win.
"GRYZ, INCOMING ATTACK!"
Unfortunately, after pulling the Skull Baluchimon, Gryz did not have enough strength. He's also slow, very slow. Dodging it isn't possible, hence the bear put up his arm up for guarding, only for him to pushed backward from the attack.
"Guuu! Curses you... I see you're strong, but this isn't enough to defeat me! Punishment Claw!"
Gryz lunged forward with his massive claw coated in what looked like corruption aura. It's a weak attack because no allies was damaged, but at the very least it should be able to push the monster back again. He hoped that this is enough for the rest to attempt to flee or something... Or at least get Ayumi to safety. While he felt Solomon is strong enough to evolve, he's not sure if the time is right.

Well, at least by now she was more or less sure that there were no enemies besides the giant fossil that had been attacked by Gryz and had been attacked back in return. That left the digimon with few choices, and eventually, she decided to help the WaruMonzaemon, intervening in the fight directly.
Having second thoughts or anything of the sort wasn't the smartest thing to do at the moment, anyway. Trusting Solomon with Ayumi's safety, the digimon began to close the distance between herself at their enemy, producing a makeshift weapon from the soil's composition. Wielding her hardened, and pretty salty club, Siftermon would try to flank the gigantic living fossil and attempt to strike at their angle in an attempt to divert the attention from Gryz.
As much as she hated to admit it, the power emanating from their foe matched the WaruMonzaemon's, not her own. So, for now... being a minor asset at most would have to suffice.

The SkullBaluchimon was now caught in a pincer attack. Siftermon's club attack hardly hurt him, but actually distracted him.
"Quid? Est impetus?"
Before he could turn turn to her, however, he got decked square in the jaw by WaruMonzaemon's attack. He wobbled on his feet, then his eyes glowed and he roared.
"Et superbo stulti! Praeparare in occursum fatis!"
The Digimon reared on its back legs, then brought down its front paws heavily.
"OS GRAVIS!"
All around the SkullBaluchimon, skeletal arms emerged from the salt, attempting to scratch the two Digimon, or to drag them down with them!
Solomon watched the battle from afar, cursing his own weakness. He kept Ayumi behind him, making sure she was safe.
"Th-th-that bony monstrosity is tough! It just takes these attacks and just gets angrier!"
"I know. I wish I could do something to help. But I am too weak."
"Eh? You're not weak! You're so strong, you're protecting me, like a knight! I believe in you!"
Solomon blushed, and kept watching. Maybe Ayumi was right, maybe he could do something. He just needed to wait for an opportunity.

"LOOK OUT!" Gryz did not want Amelie to get caught by whatever attack the skull Digimon launched and instead took the damage for her, after attempting to push her away from the attack. The skill hurts, really hurts. The bear's defense has gone down quite significantly thanks to the amount of moves he used. But for now, he need to show this thing who's the boss.
"...You'll regret that. Field of Corruption!"
The bear's stomach suddenly tore open, and foul data leaked out from it, quickly spreading about thirty meters. It felt wicked, it felt like it would corrode everything. Not only that, the sand it touched now turned into arid land that just felt so putrid with abnormal data. Gryz's descent to the deeper part of the sand was stopped thanks to it This is the result of Digimon that corrupted by corrupted core of earth. Now in that field, the bear looked more menacing than ever.
"You guys, if you want to attack it, attack it from far away!"
For some reason, he still retained his sanity, his gentleness... but it cannot be denied that indeed, this corruption definitely felt abnormal for such a kind bear like Gryz.
The foul thing would most likely gave damage over time to the Skull Baluchimon if he's not a Digimon that's attuned with corruption. Gryz continued his assault and decked the thing on the jaw again with his unclawed arm.

Welp, so much for trying to help. Fiest, the digimon would find itself on the bad end of a gripping attack, and then on the bad end of a corrupting field. Not much to do in her stead, except concentrate on what to do next. While the attack was painful, it wasn't going to be lethal, and Amelie could always dig herself out as long as the damage hadn't been too severe.
What was the best course of action, then? Concentrating on her own body, the bony plates surrounding the tissue currently under assault by the claws barely flickered, signaling that anyone attacking Siftermon would receive as much damage as she was right now. Yeah, probably not the best for Gryz, but Amy was sure the WaruMonzaemon could manage a little more pain in exchange for their enemy to be comparatively more weakened.
With that out of the way, the only thing that was left for the digimon was just to wait and behold what would happen next.

SkullBaluchimon suddenly found itself under attack from both sides, many tiny hits adding up quickly. While the corrupting field of WaruMonzaemon was slowly eroding his digital bones, Siftermon's reflected claw attacks hit right in the freshly opened marrow wounds. The fossil got even angrier, somehow, roaring so deep and loud it forced people to cover their ears.
"Insolentia! Hoc est quomodo tractare, rege consignataque antiquitas!? Fac pereat!"
Light collected in the digicore in its chest, then light shone from every hole in its body.
"CAESARIS IRAM!"
The light then exploded from its body, thick beams eating trough the corruptive particles in the air. Any being hit by this move would have whatever is hit be eaten away by the searing light!
Watching this attack, Solomon got up.
"This looks dangerous, watch out, Amelie, Gryz!"

Drats, he didn't push Amelie far enough huh. He should have... but luckily the girl got the right counter skill. It did hurt him, but it was nothing compared to the girl's suffering. Gryz took it all in strides, and indeed, it's much better to take this instead of letting the bone Digimon did more damage than it already does. Gryz gritted his teeth. At this time he knew he need to do something, because next attack looked really dangerous! Gryz grabbed Amelie and attempted to shield her.
What about himself though?
That's easy. He immediately tapped the ground. Almost as quickly, behind him a wall of earth erected, tall enough to cover the bear from the attack of the opposing Digimon. He knew that he could counter the moment the attack finished. But for now, he need to see what's going to happen.
As he did that, his burly body somehow looked slightly thinner now, like the cotton inside is getting slowly consumed by unknown force.
Gryz used Fangs of Grudge (Defense):
Use 2 cotton stack. Raises wall type shield with about 5 m tall and 7 m wide that blocks three perfect-strength attack. If not broken by next turn, sacrifice one more stack to unleash barrages of earth spear. The total damage is the remaining tanking amount is timed by 50% of a perfect level strength (example: if the shield have one more attack left in its duration, then the damage is 50%, 2 for 100%, 3 for 150%). Two turns cooldown.
