Hunter and the Hunted [Mission]

"Ah well. Keep up the good work then." Cas murmured offering the ghostly Digimon a slim smile. At least if the Hunter did show they'd only need to keep an ear out for the Bakemon's cry to have some general idea of their target's location. Likewise Cloak would half turn giving the other Digimon a shallow nod of respect before his gold eyes returned to scanning their surroundings. Dagger would remain close to Dr. Cross's side for the moment his own eyes not nearly so good in the dark as his Tamer's and twins. Thankfully K's transformation was not too terribly bright.
"Mega forms might attract unwarranted attention from other hostile Digimon believing we might be attempting to shoulder in on their territory. There's no sense getting into a fight with every mon we meet. Though if we can find an area where the Hunter has been recently K might be able to pick up their scent." The Woman added more then amicable to K's suggestion of taking the Western path.
As the water frothed and bubbled Cloak, the SkullKnightmon, was quick to step neatly and cleanly between his Tamer and the perceived threat. The champion digimon's eyes sharp and fierce as he assessed the Orochimon doing his best to appear as a threat too dangerous to be worth the ultimate digimon's time. His twin hunched close to the ground as well a growl low and threatening ripping it's way out of the Zubaeagermon's throat as the brothers postured. It seemed however, that their threat display was for naught given how badly injured the Orochimon appeared to be.
"Oh F~" Dr. Cross cussed softly as she peered around Cloak her eyes alighting on the reptilian Digimon and the familiar wounds it sported. Drawing her scanner she leveled it at the injured Digimon to scan them while carefully inching her way around her protective partners. Edging her way towards the water she held her free hand out palm up in a show of good faith her eyes soft.
"Shhhh shhhh it's ok. It's going to be ok." Cassandra murmured voice gentle even as her partners hovered close far more wary then the tiny Tamer. Then again she unlike them was all too used to dealing with injured and fearful creatures.
"Cas..." Dagger rumbled out shifting nervously beside her even as his Tamer ignored the worry that tinged the golden Digimon's tone. She knew better then to show fear.
"I'm a Doctor. If you let me clean your wounds I believe I can help you." She explained tone firm, but warm never taking her eyes off the injured Digimon as she kept her stance open and relaxed. As if she wasn't attempting to coax a reptile nearly five times her size towards her for treatment.

K continued moving once she had digivolved, they were probably on a time crunch if you realistically thought about it. After all the longer that they tarried the longer the cat would have to move around. She continued to stretch here and there but she prioritized movement. This was the only form she had that was quadruped in nature so it was taking a little bit to get to use to.
"The same way that you track anyone, scent, sound and careful examining of one's surroundings."
The Sangloupmon paused and turned her head to Carlos; quirking a brow before sighing softly. She didn't really want to have to get further into this now but.. There would be little point for her hiding the fact. Cas' point made sense on it's own and she seemed to have a smart head on those shoulders.
"Cas is correct, but every single one of my forms mega and above are all considered holy type digimon by many. Remind me once more where we are Carlos?"
With that said and the appearance of the snake digimon K went into abject silence. Staring at the digimon that was not part of this group. Was it a threat? Was it something they had to address? She'd keep her distance from the Orochimon as this would be the first time she would of seen one. She felt her breath catch in her throat however when she saw those deep glowing red cuts.
"Those cuts... that damage... Isn't this digimon a perfect class?"
The sangloupmon was on guard now, her eyes sweeping around the location. Was the Meicoomon around still? Did the hunter get even stronger? Were they going to have to use ultimate or greater force to quell this beast?
Is this damage from the Meicoomon on it's own? Or is that red the same as...
The sangloupmon shook her head and pushed the thought out of her mind. She would deal with that when it came; right now they needed answers and the solo digimon could not provide them. So she was content to wait and watch the area in the meantime. Noting that the Doctor was using a scanner the Sangloupmon hesitated slightly.
"How old are those wounds you reckon?"

Just like Carlos suspected, the ghost digimon was not a threat to the group, and so it was perfectly fine to leave him to do his own thing while they took care of the Hunter. It didn’t stop the Devidramon from glaring at him until they were far enough, however. Not so much out of distrust, but perhaps annoyance that the Bakemon had made the group worry, even if it had been for less than a minute. As if they didn’t have enough reasons to be stressed out already.
Of course, both Cas and K raised a good counter argument against using a Mega form early unless needed. He and Dio already had gone through a similar experience walking around the city of Luminas. It was better if they didn’t attract unwanted attention and the wrath of beings unrelated to the current situation.
“Yeah ok, I see your point K.” The man replied with a nod. The dragon was about to point out a good virus form that K could have used instead…but figured it would be better to not mention it right now.
Truth be told, Carlos felt slightly out of his league in here, being faced with such a dangerous task while surrounded by people frankly more qualified than him. To walk away now would not only have been the easier option, but possibly also the smarter one.
But...he felt the need to do this, somehow. As if being put through a similar situation fueled him to try to prevent others from suffering the same fate.
That, and he hoped that if he took care of the problem quickly enough, Haru wouldn’t have to know a thing about it. She already had enough problems to worry about more of bad events involving Meicoomons.
Later down the road, the sudden appearance of the Orochimon was enough to put Dio in a state of alert, growling as he placed one large hand in front of Carlos as if to shield him from possible harm. Even when it was obvious the snake was not a threat to them (at least not an immediate one) the dragon did not lower his guard, but for a different reason.
“Be on guard. Whatever did this might still be around.” Dio stated, his many eyes scanning their dark surroundings, waiting for anything to jump out at them at any moment. Carlos, while he appreciated his partner’s concern, he also found his overly zealous guarding methods a bit much. He lightly shoved the claw aside with a hand, and very slowly approached the snake to get a better look at it, staying a good ten feet behind the doctor just in case, the dragon always walking behind him in the same slow, lumbering gait.
“Well, I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but it would appear we’re on the right track.” Granted, there could be other reasons as to why the snake was in its current state, knowing the nature of the Dark Area and its inhabitants, and the thought of something strong enough to cause so much damage to an Ultimate level was...concerning, to be the least. That, and a very similar worried look on both of the other's faces hinted at something much worse, but Carlos decided not to ask any further, instead leaving Cas to do her job.

As it was, the three members of the group handled themselves quite differently in the Orochimon's presence:
The Sangloupmon, at least from Orochimon's perspective, took the Ultimate's warning at face value. She did not dare to approach the serpent, which made her earn the careful gaze of just one of the serpent's remaining puppet heads. The questions that she gave stood, for the moment, in open air.
Carlos, and by extension, the Devidramon, attempted to follow behind Cassandra as she made her way to the Orochimon. His approach, and the overtly defensive stance of the demon, immediately earned the ire of the serpent, two of its heads hissing aggressively in his direction: it was clear that if either of them took a step forward, they were liable to be lashed out and struck by one of the serpent's several heads. Injured as it was, this was still a perfect class Digimon, able to give everyone here a run for their money.
Curiously, however, Cassandra did not receive the same treatment - in fact, the manner of which she approached was quite well practiced. Approaching with the palms facing forward as such was a recognized sign of pacifism, and her tone was quite calm, gentle, and practiced. The main head looked at her curiously, while ushering more direct, small, sharp hisses to her two partners. Provided they heeded the serpent's warning and simply backed off, the twin tamer alone would be able to approach.
There would be a moment of silence, before the serpent relented, lowering its head off to the side.
Of course, saying that one could treat the wounds and actually performing the feat was another task entirely. Whether through card or physical effort, the red tinge (definitely that of the Reaper) of the wounds would prove stubborn and difficult to clear out - though the damage itself could be carefully remedied, given enough time.
Realistically, though, Cassandra would not have all the time in the world to treat this serpent's wounds. At a certain time, perhaps five minutes later, he'd give a cautious hiss to the tamer. He would finally answer K's question:
"Two hoursss...." The hiss rolled out of the seprent's main head, a nod given to the Sangloupmon. "I ssspotted it. A red-eyed cat. Caught it in these fangsss." He raised a puppet head, the strong-plated ceramic of it blown through from the top, red coloration charring the edges.
"It hasss not left. Watches thisss lake. I watch it." The Orochimon had brought the target to a standstill? One of the remaining heads gave a nod to the group, and gave a light nudge to the right, motioning to a path leading away from the farm, towards a gnarled underbrush.
"I cannot ressst. You have come for it?" With a mere hiss, he'd pull away, and slither back towards the pond - once more starting to slip below the surface. Despite the size, the movement remained smooth - soon all they would see would be one or two of the puppet heads, scanning the surroundings from the surface.
The serpent was a tense one, but at the very least, the group would have one chance to prepare before heading off the path.

The twins would, however extremely reluctantly, back off allowing their Tamer to distance herself from them as they hovered protectively nearby. The pair watching with bright wary gold eyes as the little Doctor approached the perfect Digimon's great scaled head with a gaze soft with concern. Stashing her scanner back into her coat Cassandra carefully pulled out a pair of disposable medical gloves from her pocket tugging them over her hands before reaching out to run gentle fingers over the Digimon's snout petting the scales there in a comforting gesture as she assessed the Orochimon's wounds. "You're going to be all right. I need to clean out your wounds the old fashioned way before I can heal them so this might sting a little." Cassandra cautioned her tone soft and sure if a little apologetic at the prospect of the pain her work might cause. However, it had to be done. Sealing the wounds without cleaning them would likely only allow the virus to infiltrate further into the Orochimon's system and Dr. Cross had no intention of fighting two D-reaper controlled Digimon today. So while she could not outright cure her patient she worked with an eye to keep their infection level below a reasonable amount in order to buy her time to return and take the Digimon for proper treatment. Suddenly very glad she'd invested in an infi-store Cas slung her pack from her shoulders digging through it for a moment till she pulled out a spray bottle of wound wash and medical disinfectant wipes. Then setting her jaw in a stubborn and determined line the woman set about her work inspecting each injury with a quick and carefully eye before going about scrubbing it as clean as she could. Her medical wipes coming away red with infection and data as she added each used one to a growing pile in a disposable trash bag as she did her best to rid the wounds of debri and infection as best she could. Pausing at one of the particularly nasty slash wounds she would draw a vial from her pocket and take a careful sample, ensuring it was sealed before she placed it in the infi-store for safe keeping. Sadly Dr. Cross would not have nearly as much time with her patient as she would have liked, but she was skilled at working in difficult and time sensitive situations and when the Orochimon hissed at her cautiously she would sigh and wrap up her work. She'd cleaned the wounds as best she could in the given time and stepping back from the snake Digimon Cas would carefully set the bag of used medical wipes on the ground, peeling her data and red tinged disposable gloves from her hands as she added them to the pile motioning to Cloak to dispose of them. Which the SkullKnightmon did with great relish as it pointed it's spear at it destroying it with a quick blast of dark and decaying energy. Drawing the Regenerate Card from her deck the Doctor concentrated on the Orochimon as she slid said card through her D-arc as the Digimon in question became enveloped in a soft glow it's wounds gradually knitting closed. "That's all I can do for now. I've slowed the infection to a reasonable rate, but I don't have the tools or knowledge to completely cleanse you. However, if the cat doesn't kill us I will be coming back for you and if you'll let me I'll bring you into town with us for proper treatment. " Cas explained reaching out to gently stroke the Digimon's snout one last time before she settled her hands lightly on her hips and gave the injured Orochimon a no nonsense look. "In the meantime stay as deep in the lake as you can to remain cool. Cold temperatures slow down the rate of infection. If we don't return there is a Witchmon in the nearby Fragment Village that can treat you. In the meantime rest and do not under any circumstances further engage in combat especially with any digimon that has a crimson tinge to their data. The card I used on you will continue to heal you for a short time longer. Till then well... be good." The Doctor ordered voice firm and unwavering with all the authority of someone who expected to be obeyed or else. Though the lingered threat of retribution in her tone was at least one for the Digimon's own good rather then implication of harm. Though the woman's implacable mask would hold firm until the Digimon had slipped back into the water and out of sight wary concern was sharp and bright in her crimson tinged red eyes as she turned back to the group. A sort of haunted look lingering in the bloody ruby depths of her gaze as the twins were quick to return to her side Dagger leaning into her legs with distinct concern. "Cas...." He murmured the little Zubaeagermon twining himself about the woman's ankles with surprising care for a creature made out of blades. His words seeming to jarr the little Doctor from her reverie as Cloak loomed close and comforting at her back. "I'm fine." The Doctor murmured wiping her right hand down her face as she sighed and shook her head as if to disperse the cobwebs of her own thoughts. She didn't sound fine though, the bandaged fingers of her left hand twitching lightly as she fought to regain control of her own emotions. "I'm fine." Cas added once more voice firm as she met her Digimon's eyes before looking to K, Dio, and Carlos. "Tactical assessment?" She asked quietly as she glanced over her shoulder at Cloak who looked solemn and thoughtful "Grim." The SkullKnightmon rumbled out, "At least sixty percent chance of minor infection should we engage in long range combat. Eighty percent certainty if we engage at close range. D-reaper reaction to..." And the Digimon trailed off cutting his gold eyes across to Cassandra with a look of deep concern his gaze linger on her crimson tinged eyes and bandaged arm. "Unknown." Cloak murmured softly as Cas nodded her jaw tightening into the stubborn set of a woman who knew whatever was to come would likely hurt and faced it with the determination to grit her teeth and bear it. "Avoid it's attacks if at all possible in order to remain uninfected. If you have to take a hit keep the damage as far from your core as you are physically able. So long as you aren't fully converted or there are extenuating complications I can low down the spread and one of the other Doctors can purge it from your system." Cas explained laying out the situation before them. "If at all possible fall back to me for triage as I'd rather not close up an infected wound with the virus still present within it if I can help it. Most importantly under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you touch or handle anything with the D-reaper crimson tinge with your bare flesh." She ordered, and the last part was indeed an order fierce and firm and with all the desperation of a woman who did not want to have to deal with the stupid that might result from it being ignored. "Carlos you're going to be the most vulnerable here. If you've got a D-arc or anyway to keep from getting caught in the cross fire then have it prepped and ready otherwise stay behind me and let me take the attack on my light screen. So long as you don't get shot through a faulty portal or other terrible fits of luck if you do get nicked we should be able to fix you." Cas added nodding to her fellow Tamer with a sort of grim experience and false lightness to her tone that spoke of experience of the horrifying kind. "I don't know how far along the Hunter is in it's infection. I won't be able to make an assessment till I see the target, but if it's been completely taken over then there's a chance that without constant bombardment the D-virus may be able to help it reform it. This is however, unfortunately an educated guess as the last time I encountered one of the infected they were already a full agent of the D-reaper and a Super Mega." The Doctor explained laying out everything she knew knowing that this was not the time to hide cards under the table when they would be going into a far more dangerous and possibly life threatening fight then they had expected.
Doctor Cross applies Medical Aid to Orochimon -Due to her career as both a veterinary doctor, human/digimon paramedic, and her experience in high stress and dangerous situations Dr. Cross is highly capable of treating both humans, animals, and digimon for medical emergencies. K kept her distance from the Orochimon; she didn't want to mess up whatever it was that Cas wanted to do. If it was really her desire to help out this Orochimon she wouldn't stop them; if anything it'd give them a little bit of time to get their bearings in this new location.
During the entire time of her work, K would continue to pace around. Sniffing stretching and getting used to this body as she went. It was weaker than her shutmon form obviously, but stronger than her Renamon. If she had to gauge it's physical strength it was weaker than leomon by a bit but also faster. Steps were easier to take and she felt like she could run for a while too.
Upon hearing the Doctor talk again the wolf would pause in her 'patrol' and flick both ears to listen to them. She wasn't going to lower her guard if the snake said that the hunter was still around here. If the creature was smart it'd continue to wait for them or it would of backed off.
So the doctor had use of cards just like K did? What sort of variety did they employ in comparison to her? Something to go over later as if they worked together in the future they'd be able to work off of one another's 'styles' so to speak.
This doctor was no joke, and completely business on the job as a whole. She had to admit that sort of thing was rare and she certainly liked that. Reminded her distinctly of another doctor when he got into the 'working' mode.
I'm curious what infection she's talking about though... If it's...
Don't assume.
The sangloupmon shook her head a little bit and turned to the rest of the group. Padding slowly but pausing only when the twins interacted with the Doctor. Was something the matter? The wolf furrowed it's brow and sat down, when she was close enough. Still facing outwards as though to keep her attention and eyes elsewhere.
The tactical assement was met with a head turn. They had her full undivided attention the moment that Cloak started. A casual flick of her ear and slow head tilt was what started.
Then Cas started to speak. Telling them to avoid it's attacks if at all possible to remain uninfected. Telling them to keep it from damaging their core and that she'd be able to slow the spread and eventually purge it with the help of another doctor.
The sangloupmon gritted her teeth but continued to remain silent. Not wanting to interrupt the Doctor as they spoke. She needed to hear this from them; even if it was leading into something she felt she wasn't going to like.
Cas continued to speak, telling them to fall back for a triage as they'd rather not close up infected wounds. That they shouldn't handle anything with the D-reaper-
That single word was enough to where the sangloupmon's body was immediately covered in a soft but gentle light. The form shifted, extended and twisted so that it was standing. Moments later the sangloupmon was replaced with that of a Shutmon.
Without even thinking her forearm blades switched from their 'sheathed' to 'attack' mode immediately. The Shutmon even went so far as to flip her hood up, her ears slipping through small holes in the hood. Her eyes easily seeing through it. Her attention was now back to the area as a whole; her eyes sweeping back and forth as the Doctor continued.
At the end of her explanation the Shutmon flicked her ears and held up a single hand. Anger, raw and unbridled in it's entirety was quite clear in her voice.
"Understood. Regardless of how far this hunter is into it's infection doesn't change what our job is. Just how difficult it's going to be to put this thing down."
The shutmon's head turned and the icy blue eyes that they would be greeted by were so cold that they barely met the same frigidness that her breath was capable of.
"If it's super mega tier. I will handle it and you will run. If it's too far into it's infection stage we will take steps to obliterate it if not."
There was a small pause and the shutmon looked down at one of her hands. She could feel the scars twitching; she could feel her anger mounting. But she needed to get that under control. She would make rash decisions if she succumbed to that emotion...

In hindsight, trying to approach the snake with a grumpy looking dragon in tow was clearly a poor idea, as evidenced by the angry hiss that came from the Orochimon’s heads.
“Ok ok, we got the hint.” The man said as he stopped in his tracks, trying perhaps a bit too hard to sound nonchalant in a vain attempt to hide how startled he had been. Without another word, he slowly backed away with his palms facing towards the snake, letting Cas go about her work uninterrupted. Dio didn’t even bothered saying a word, still staying protectively close to the man, though he was wise enough to relent a bit with his aggressive attitude. Cocky as he was, he now knew better than to earn the ire of an Ultimate level.
The two of them waited for a bit, neither of them ever taking their eyes away of the eight snake, Dio to make sure they wouldn’t suddenly lash out or something, Carlos more interested in seeing the good doctor work her magic. Truth be told, seeing someone with both such a thorough knowledge and the sheer courage to get close to an injured, possibly dangerous digimon just to help them out was both commendable and inspiring to watch. If he for some reason didn’t have enough respect for Cas before, he sure as hell did now.
However, when she spoke to the group again and suddenly began issuing very specific instructions (which sounded suspiciously similar to how you’d handle radioactive waste), there was a slight, if very brief shift in her tone that made the man feel uneasy. Something had worried her, and whatever it was, it was very bad.
And of course, among her explanation she said one word. One word that was enough to sent a cold shiver down the duo’s spine, and made them immediately worry for their safety.
D.Reaper.
As if to confirm what had just been said K inmediatelly jumped into the higher, more familiar form of Shutmon. Carlos gulped a bit. K’s reaction was an understandable one, wasn’t because of that thing that she had been slain before? Regardless, it all amounted to the same thing: the stakes had been raised considerably higher now.
Carlos and Dio exchanged a quick look. There was a hint of doubt in the eyes of human, but it soon disappeared as he saw the cold determination in his partner’s. Right, this was not the time to fear. In one quick movement, the man brought out his digivice.
The dragon then followed K’s example as his body was engulfed in a bright, red tinged light. In his place now stood a slightly smaller but still tall Neodevimon. While his features were hidden behind a cold, faceless mask, his quickened breathing and glowing red visor made it clear he was anything but stoic about the whole D.Reaper subject. He had heard enough stories about how it worked for him to be on edge, and if their mark was indeed infected by it...
Well, let’s just say the Dark Lord hoped their strength would be enough.
The masked demon nodded once in response to both Cas and K’s orders and instructons. “You order. I comply.” He said, his monotone, almost mechanical sounding voice hiding any of his true feelings a lot better than his body language could. Usually, he’d had been reluctant or even downright against letting anyone but Carlos order him around. But if there was D.Reaper corruption involved, that changed everything.
Even if his opinion on her was…different since the last time, the words of wisdom K had imparted to him all that time ago still struck a sensitive chord within the Virus Digimon.
“Play it carefully no matter what you do about them and make sure if you know ahead of time that you will be fighting them. Plan. Make sure your allies know of it. Make sure to cover every aspect of those fights before you approach them or you will suffer grievous consequences more than anything I could ever manage."
The cybernetic demon turned his head in the group’s direction, those words playing over and over in his head as he spoke.
“Have two ranged options. Everything else close range. Will attempt to approach with care but cannot promise complete avoidance of damage.” Dio stated whilst pointing at himself, letting them know what to expect from him as he slowly put himself in position, slowly placing himself close to the rest of the digimon, eyes gazing into the surrounding darkness, waiting to see movement.
Meanwhile however Carlos cringed inwardly a bit when Cas addressed him. Since he sadly did not have a D-Arc on him or any fancy method of defense, he couldn’t help but feel useless for the team. Other than being the only thing keeping Neodevimon in check were he to lose his cool again, he couldn’t really add much to the ensuing fight.
“Sorry Doctor Cross, I’m…a bit underequipped for this situation.” He sheepishly apologized, pinching the bridge of his nose, sighing. Still, he obviously didn’t question the doctor’s good judgment, standing as close as possible to Cas without being a bother. Knowing he was the weakest and most vulnerable member in the mission was slightly worrisome, yes, but he trusted that as long as he didn’t do anything stupid they’d all make it out in one piece. The least he could do was try to make himself as small a target as possible.
“Doctor, be honest with me…how good are our chances?” He asked, trying to find some reassurance, though his partner was quick to offer his own answer, which did very little to calm the man’s doubts.
“Uncertain.”

It was through Cassandra's efforts that the two were able to get any information out of the serpent at all. Past that, her further kindness and care for the serpent, even after he addressed the group, earned a curious tilt from the head by the Orochimon. With the effect of the card still radiating over his scales, the perfect level simply gave a low, and careful, nod to the human. Would he take her up on the offer? It wasn't entirely certain, but at the very least he wouldn't attack her blindly.
Soon enough, he'd retreat to the lake, and the three would be left to make their plans. K and Dio used this time to take their own ultimate forms - Shutmon and NeoDevimon - respectively, and in the presence of the serpent itself, there was no reaction from the woods. But would even that much have already given them away?
...
Apparently, it would. There would be a quick rustle high up in the trees, in the vague direction that the Orochimon had referenced. In their small interlude, perhaps even still discussing the matter at hand, a creature had been drawn to their position. A good twenty feet up and ten yards away from the group as a whole, half-concealed in the canopy and half shrouded in darkness, their target (X) had finally made herself known. From this distance, it would be hard to tell her level of infection - though the normal 'green' of the eyes had taken a bright red color.
From this rather defensive position, the feline didn't risk charging forward or even a proper ranged attack, lest she draw the ire of the serpent again. Instead, from her position, she let out a scream, the effects of which would rattle inside the ears of any who heard it. Though physically it would do little more than pierce through the ears, each Digimon who heard it would see a strange vision, faintly as if a mirage in front of their eyes:
Each of their forms rookie and above, even their current one, would flicker before their eyes.
Shortly after this, though, the 'Hunter' wouldn't stay. Provided she'd get a chance, the feline would turn, and attempt to move back in the thick of the woods. Which begged the question:
If she had the chance to ambush, why would she use such a passive technique?
The Hunter has appeared!
The Hunter uses D-Reaper's Insight! A '3' has appeared on Carlos' Digivice Display. A '6' has appeared on Cassandra's Digivice Display. Though K has no way to view the number, '10' would be displaying if it were possible.
Items beyond the characters' knowledge
D-Reaper's Insight This attack is performed via a primal scream, damaging the data integrity of all Digimon in the target area. On effect, each Digimon's available forms briefly appear before them in a faint visage, before fading from sight.
After use, afflicted Digimon requires less damage to hit a critical point, at which point a fractal code will appear. At this point, Meicoomon can absorb any one form from the target, aside from the one currently in use, locking its use for the rest of the thread and gaining a scaled attack from that form. Damage is only permanent to the afflicted targets if all forms are stolen.

"Sadly not great, but we cannot give up. Not yet." The Doctor spoke turning to face Dio and offering him a reassuring smile. Yet while she and the twins might have missed the rustling of leaves and the sight of red eyes in the darkness so similar to Cas's own they certainly didn't miss the scream if the noise could even be called that. Cas, Cloak, and Dagger were quick to bring their hands up to cover their ears as the Doctor sought out the source of the noise her eyes growing wide at the glimpse of crimson orbs. While the full rate of infection couldn't be assessed from so far off she felt her heart drop through her stomach as her suspicions were confirmed. Nothing with a minor D-reaper infection should have been able to infect the Orochimon. The snake Digimons eyes having yet to turn or even tinge red despite his injuries. The scream would have a very different effect on the twins however as the forms shimmered before their eyes. First rookie, then champion, and then...Cloaks breath caught in his throat at the sight of the looming Digimon in black armor. It's eyes were his own, but so much sharper and harder like the weapons it wielded and like puzzle pieces being slotting back into place memories poured in. His armored hands gripped around his enemies neck a swift jerk of the wrist snapping the delicate data there. Legions marching forth at his command as he overlooked his forces from atop a castle of blackened stone. A tamer, no tamers bleeding out at his feet their deaths so countless as to blur together his spear run through their partners hearts. It was so much easier to eliminate and shatter the moral of his enemies when the fragile humans they depended on were dead. Breaking their resolve and taking their ability to digivolve in one fell swoop. It was so much sweeter to destroy everything they held dear and make them beg for death before he finished them. So much sweeter to make them understand there was nothing in this life one could depend upon, but oneself. He should have run his twin through. Should have fractured his form and devoured his data to make himself whole, but he'd hesitated and then...As Daggers gaze took in the gleaming weaponized form before his eyes his heart stuttered in his chest and all he saw was gold....the golden and white walls of the city. His commander across from him grim faced and solemn. "Captain we have a mission for you." A familiar face in the file though changed with evolution and time. He'd know his twin anywhere, but never wished to see him here on a kill list with orders to ensure him dead. "He must be stopped." He'd recognized the path home. Recognized his siblings tactical touch imprinted upon the land, but he hadn't recognized the cold gold eyes furious and vicious staring back at him..."Don't let it retreat. Whatever you do DO NOT let it retreat!" Cas called out over the scream her words snapping the SkullKnightmon and Zubaeagermon from their flood of memories as the two zeroed in on their target which was already turning tail to prepare to run. "Orders?" The SkullKnightmon requested voice gruff and militaristic as he calculated distance and speed. The undead digimon quicker on the uptake then his twin. "Slow it. Cripple it. Bleed it out." The Doctor snapped out her orders a hard glint to her eyes as her hands clenched into fists SkullKnightmon waited not a second more as he launched his attack. Dark energy glowing at the tip of his spear as he aimed it for the Hunter's legs before releasing the burning entropic blast intent on shearing the feet right out from under their enemy or at least hamstringing them. "Understood." Dagger barked out still a little shaky, but fast on the follow up as he slashes his tail through the air hurling a barrage of daggers made of light at the Meicoomon's back with every intention of slowing the cat down.
Cloak Uses: - Touch of Death: The digimon's lances glow with dark energy which it launches at range at it's enemies causing anything the energy touches to burn and decay.
Dagger Uses: - Rain of Stars: Slashing his tail through the air the digimon hurls a barrage of knives made out of light hitting multiple opponents within a twenty-foot radius of their impact.

K wasn't surprised to see the Orochimon have such a negative reaction to being approached by multiple people. One person would of been enough but honestly she couldn't blame Carlos for trying to be friendly. What could you really say to the man for just trying? You couldn't re-assure him without likely stepping on some toes but...
She had to wonder what the point would be for him to approach at all; did he have some skills that she didn't know of. She'd scratch her ear, staring quietly at the pair. Ultimately she was impressed that they came so far from their first meeting; but that mattered little when on the job here.
The shutmon dragged a finger along one of her blades, testing the sharpness for a moment before slowly turning her attention back to the forest. She could simply feel the change that Dio underwent. It didn't take a fool to measure strength from up close; but it did require a certain knack for it.
His response to them was greeted with a headturn of course. Icy blue eyes taking in his new form for a few moments before turning back to the forest. The snake had said that they were around here; so it wasn't too far off from assuming it was probably watching them? She'd perk up just a little bit when Dio spoke.
"One ranged option, everything else is melee. I've got cards of my own but most of them are straightforward attacks. Ranged, Melee weapons, Melee attacks. A few paltry tricks too."
The shutmon continued to monitor the forest; finding herself frowning after a few albeit twisted moments. Then of course carlos talked with the Doctor; askign what their chances were. Shortly after she'd respond and...
Then there target made themselves known.
The rustling immediately drew the attention of the shutmon. She blinked for a moment; taking in their quarry for mere moments. She managed a single step before that scream pierced their ears. Her hands shooting up to clasp around her sensitive appendages. She'd let out a snarl as she could now see a vision of...
All her forms? There were nine she easily recognized; nine she was familiar with. But the last was swept away like a fevered dream before she could really think about it. It wasn't something to address right now of course. With a snarl she'd immediately follow up the twin's attack with one of her own.
Energy surged up her body and to her gullet where it condensed in a harsh light. Light bled through her clenched teeth and a moment later she'd open up her mouth. The light condensed and then shot out in a straight line looking to hit the tree that the hunter had been perched on.
Even if she somehow missed it would hit something and cause a sizable explosion to blast away the cover that it had along with damaging their target. The shutmon span her blades around twice before starting to approach the area that the hunter had been in. She wasn't going to rush forward; that would be stupid.
No words need be spent at this point, she had told them what this form was capable of for the most part earlier. If she needed to switch to a higher one if things got sour well.. They would have to trust her.
Battle log: K grumpily shoots a beam out of her mouth at the hunter looking to harm it and destroy the tree's it was using for cover.
Attack used: Buster beam: This digimon may shoot a beam from it's mouth, which upon contact of a solid surface explode, showering down several smaller beams in a small ring around it. The initial explosion is fifty feet in radius, while the smaller ones are ten feet in radius. This main explosion is much stronger than the smaller ones, while trivial to some can quickly add up if not careful. This move may be used every three posts.
Cool-Down: Buster Beam: [0/3]

The demon did little else than nod twice as a response, both to Cas’ reassurement and K listing her skills, all the while he kept his many eyes trained on the dark shrubbery and trees surrounding them. His attention would soon be rewarded, as he was quick to spot the orange creature they were hunting. Despite not having a clear look of it, they ominous red glow in their eyes was enough to tip off the demonic digimon that it was, indeed, infected.
Before he even had a chance to act, the ear piercing scream the “hunter” suddenly let out was enough to stop him from doing anything but clutching his head in pain because of the screech. Even Carlos seemed affected by the ultra loud noise, his hands covering his ears in a vain attempt to block out the painful sound.
But what threw the demon for a loop came a second later, as from the corner of his eyes he noticed some odd, shadowy forms. A rather small one, and other more taller ones. They were unmistakable to Dio, as they were all clearly silhouettes from forms belonging to him. They disappeared as quickly as they came, leaving the Dark Lord confused as to what exactly he had just seen, and if anyone else in the group had also noticed them.
He didn’t have time to dwell on that now, their mark was running away, trying to return to the safety of the trees. He couldn’t run after it, else he would be leaving himself as an easy picking. It was safer to simply follow the group’s example, and keep his distance while trying to stop their escape.
"Cripple them."
Power surged into his mask, the six eyes glowing with a blood red light for a moment. The six points of light condensed into six small rays, which converged and formed one single, larger beam of pure destructive energy, aimed in the direction of the infested cat. Were the beam able to reach its target it would hopefully at least knock the cat down from the trees to their ground level, where it should be a bit more vulnerable.
By now the man had already recovered from the sheer shock caused by the scream, even if his ears were still ringing. While the Meicoomon was now backing away again and getting out of sight at an alarming speed, the man figured it was probably going to attack again. And if it did, he’d be more prepared this time. He took out his digivice in preparation for when that happened, as he planned to put his status as a member of the Digital Field Club to good use.
Maybe he didn’t have any offensive capabilities or support on his own, but at least he could scan their mark to know what it was capable off. However, as he glanced down to the screen of the device to prepare the scanning program, he couldn’t help but notice something was off. A bunch of weird, glitched up signs and symbols had appeared on the screen, and had converged together to form what looked like a number 3…or perhaps a mirrored, weirdly written out E.
Oddly enough, he could still access the device’s functions just fine, but the three still remained there, in front of everything, partially obscuring his screen, not enough to make things unreadable, but it was impossible to ignore.
“Uh…guys? I think something’s wrong with my digivice. There’s a number 3 in there for some reason that won’t go away.”
Dio aims at the Hunter and attacks with Red Ray, hoping to either hit the Hunter or destroy its cover.
Red Ray: Fires a long ranged (100ft) red energy beam from his visor. This attack is not particularly powerful damage wise, but can easily pierce through armor of its same level and below. Three posts cooldown.

Unsurprisingly, in response to the Hunter's sudden presence, the group let forth a full barrage of ranged attacks towards the perched Meicoomon. With Cassandra's twins a little slower on the draw, as they were lost in the throes of their own memory before Cassandra snapped them out of their stupor, it would be K and Dio's attacks that would careen out first, both focused beams careening directly for the Meicoomon's position.
For the Hunter, such an effort was easy enough to dodge: tensing her legs, she slipped towards the back side of the branch, and moved to kick back into the forest. Dio's beam continued at an upward angle, piercing right through the canopy as it carried up through the canopy. K's own blast would be ducked by that same motion, but with the addition of the explosion?
"Nyah!" A small cry of pain echoed right on through, as the feline was blasted from her position! With the Hunter now hidden in the foliage, 'Rain of Stars' simply shredded into leaves and tree trunks in the general area of the target, and 'Touch of Death' careened past the Meicoomon's side, likely unseen by the group, careening into and withering away an elder tree of the forest.
If these three wanted to get in close, they'd have to pursue - but at that, the feline gave a harsh flick of her tail. Three metal balls were flung, landing at the edge of the clearing between the group and the Meicoomon, the cat Digimon then moving to further increase her distance.
A moment later, these metal spheres would start to glow - on contact, or after a few seconds (timed well if any of the group tried to simply dash forward), each would explode outward in a red blast, leaving the area and all in the range of the explosion caked in the D-Reaper's red mass!
Meicoomon has ducked 'Red Ray'. 'Buster Beam' is also ducked, but the area of effect blasts the Meicoomon away, leaving the canopy burning in the wake of the attack. 'Rain of Stars' is lost in the foliage. 'Touch of Death' misses as direct line of sight is lost.
Meicoomon uses 'D-Reaper Bomb'! A delayed explosive, derived from Pendulum Feet, Meicoomon throws up to three metal explosives from her tail. On direct contact with a Digimon or after a set time, each detonate in a burning, concussive blast, coating the surrounding area in the D-Reaper's mass within a five meter radius.

"Wait are those...?" Dagger trailed off as he saw the little metal balls launched from the darkness of the canopy to land in the grass at the edge of the clearing. Then they started blinking.
"Bombs! Get down!" Cas screamed having no real way of knowing how large the blast would be as she spun on her heel turning to tackle Carlos to the ground with a silent prayer that her shield would hold. Cloak and Dagger are quick to follow her hitting the earth like stones as they cover their heads remembering all too well the various pipebombs and other explosives tossed around in the rougher areas of Greater Shibuya by the gangs to bust down doors. Cas can only hope that K and Dio are quick enough as she hears the muffled BOOM of the blast going off and feels the ripple of air from it impact her shield and ruffle her hair and coat. Her ears are ringing, but the fact they're not being peppered with shrapnel and debri is enough to prove the blast was a small one not even reaching any of the group that didn't charge in headlong and for a moment the Doctor breaths a sigh of relief.
Then she levels herself back up, turns to survey then damage, and cusses. It is a long and unusually creative string of cusses ranging from unpleasant things said about the Meicoomon's mother all the way to what bodily holes the D-reaper could stick things in, finally ending with an impressive list of swears that might have made a sailor blush as the woman dug through her coat for yet more empty vials and pulled a new clean set of medical gloves on.
"If this keeps up we may have to nuke this area just to prevent a D-reaper nest from forming." The Doctor sighed inching towards the red pulsing mass as she carefully took a couple of samples. Making it a point to use her gloved left hand lest she risk losing her right one as she capped off the vials before carefully backing away from the mass and sealing her gloves for quick disposal by SkullKightmon.
"It dislikes cold. Perhaps ice-attacks may be used to neutralize this mass." Cloak, the SkullKnightmon, theorized as he turned his gold eyes upon his companions as though to inquire if either of them had such attacks.
"What I wouldn't give for a tank of liquid nitrogen right now." Cassandra sighed out eyeing the direction their target had disappeared towards with no small amount of irritated trepidation. With the element of surprise lost the last thing the Doctor wanted to do was chase the D-reaper infected murder cat into the forest it likely very well knew like the back of it's own paw.

K's ear flicked as that cry of pain following their attacks was made known. It wouldn't be as easy as this she knew that much especially if the D-reapers had anything to do with it. So that was part of the reason she cautiously approached in the first place. Sure they had to hunt this thing and make sure it didn't get away. But that was no real reason to rush themselves and get needlessly hurt or infected.
The shutmon had to admit she was glad that she wasn't doing this on her own else the Meicoomon probably would of just attacked her outright. She was much closer at this point close enough to when the metal balls landed near her she was within range. There was a distinct moment when that glow started and the shutmon flinched visibly.
She knew that attack.
There was no hesitation as the shutmon not only leaped back naturally but kicked off of the air to add to her momentum. She didn't want to get hit by this again; it hurt like hell and caked the front of her the last time it did. The Shutmon was just barely outside of the range of the red blast when it went off; though this didn't stop her from covering her front using her cloak.
Landing a good ways back she'd snarl in irritation and spin her blades around in agitation. Chasing them into the forest would be a bad idea. Her ears flicked and stared harshly at the red pulsing mass. Slowly but surely she'd walk forward cracking her knuckles and glaring out at the forest as she knew the Meicoomon was still out there. The statement that it disliked cold along with suggesting an ice attack made the shutmon pause before coming over just a little bit outside of the explosion radius.
"I've got something."
K stood on the very edge of the explosion radius; glaring sourly at it for a few moments before inhaling deeply. She could feel the build up of the freezing cold within her for a few long moments before she'd breathe out what looked to be a large cone of ice. It covered quite a large area of course and would of course do it's best to freeze solid anything it touched. Afterwards the shutmon exhaled again; feeling her body temperature increase a bit from not having that internal cold still.
"Fah... It's not Liquid Nitrogen, but I think that'll do..."
The shutmon turned her gaze to the forest after a few moments. Her forearm blades span from 'sheath' to 'attack' mode over and over again. It was quite obvious she was contemplating something. With a grunt and shake of the head she'd turn to the others.
"We shouldn't chase them in this forest but we might not have a choice."
There was a distinct pause and the shutmon sighed. No reason on keeping this out of the loop..
"I know that attack, it was used by a strange floating creature twice when I last fought these things. Seems a little faster than the creature that used it first time around; not sure why."
The shutmon looked somewhat unhappy at the idea of having to fight this thing on it's terms and wanted to level the playing field a bit. Surprise would be in their favor over and over again if they went in there...
Battle Log: K narrowly avoids the explosion, not wishing to get hit by a very familiar looking attack.
Attack: Breath of the Mausoleum: This digimon may breathe out an cone of ice. The cone is Thirty feet long, Fifteen feet wide and fifteen feet tall. If a digimon is struck by this move, ice condenses and freezes parts of their body, dealing medium damage and hampers their movement for a single post. The cool down of this move is Two posts, but a digimon cannot be hampered by the movement affecting portion of the attack twice in a row. This attack deals more damage to targets already affected by a ice type move or if they are in a body of water. This move is strong enough to freeze large chunks of water. Outside of combat this move can be used indefinitely, but runs the risk of freezing the host digimon solid for three posts rendering them completely unable to do anything. A constant effect when not in use is the cloud of frosty air she breathes out. This particular effect deals no damage but indicates when the move can be used again.
Cool Downs: Buster beam: [1/3] Breath of the Mausoleum: [0/2]

Despite his instincts screaming otherwise, Dio stood his ground, even as the infected digimon dodged their attacks and continued its escape unhindered. As much as he wanted to run in its pursuit, he remembered how bad of an idea it would be to follow it into the deep of the forest. Even as K’s attack landed and managed to momentarily take down the Meicoomon, the cyber demon stood still, waiting for the group to start pursuing before doing so himself.
In the end, his patience would pay off however, as before he was able to get moving, the cat counterattacked with a move of her own. Dio found himself taking a step backwards to avoid the spheres falling on top of him, followed with a jump backwards, his wings flapping once to put more distance between himself and the spheres.
Meanwhile Carlos didn’t have nearly enough time to react to this before Cas quite literally tackled him to the ground, shielding him from the ensuing explosion. Luckily for everyone on the group they were all just far enough for the corrupting red fluid that came from the ensuing explosion to be unable to reach them.
“T-thanks Doctor.” Carlos thanked as he got back on his feet again, still a bit shaken up from such a close call but genuenly grateful, though she was probably too busy cussing and swearing to notice him.
As things calmed down (for the time being at least) the Doctor’s partner shared a useful bit of info about the Reaper’s weakness to cold. Made sense considering the sudden burst of heat emanating from the pulsating red mass the bombs had left in their wake. Well, Dio’s Impmon form could conjure up ice, but devolving now while that thing was prowling, even for a second, could prove fatal, so that was out of the question. Luckily K quickly resolved their problem, freezing over a large area of the forest with just her icy breath in yet another demonstration of power. That digimon was always full of surprises, wasn’t she?
“So if it’s using D-Reaper attacks. At least maybe now we can know what to expect?” And by that he meant the others would know what to expect, seeing how they were the ones with some prior experience fighting these things. Hopefully that knowledge could be used to their advantage.
“Shall we pursue or wait?” Dio questioned, his gaze set on the frozen forest, claws and nails scraping along the soil in anticipation. He didn’t want to charge head on into an ambush, but at this rate their prey could get away if they didn’t act quickly.
Both Dio and Carlos (with the help of Cas) managed to stay away from the bombs.
