"Signs normal. No sign of the target at the east wing."
Roger. Keep an eye on the east half of the town, for now. We'll switch shifts in an hour.
Her order confirmed, the Renamon tasked with guarding this village let out a deep breath, slowly lowering her claw away from her ear. In all, there wasn't much to this 'town', so small that it was simply known by its bottling name, Akla. Even at a glance, it wasn't hard to determine that this Rookie was part of the Xros General team in question - the visor running over her head displaying digital information and a frankly out-of-place rapier made it quite clear that she wasn't just running out of one book. Stretching her arms to the sky, she held a yawn, glancing over her shoulder as the Cherrymon made his approach.
Resting one of his several hands on the cane, the red-leafed Digimon gave a chuckle. "Oho? Are you sure that you should be taking your position so relaxed? If I were the Hunter I'd already be on you."
"Save it for those who need to hear it, grandpa. We still get paid even if the rest of them bite it."
"Hm." His eyes flickered over to the terse 'mon, before simply giving a sigh, shaking his head. "Wicked's been trying to teach me that knighliness is dead in this world... you're not giving me a very strong argument against it."
"Again, cram it. Besides, you'll have more to deal with me before long." She gave a tap to the side of her visor. "First group's coming in."

"This is a risk." Cloak rumbled out the SkullKnightmon shifting one blood red spear to rest it on his shoulder as he slid his eyes across to the petite woman striding between his twin and himself. Dr. Cassandra Cross was dressed for work her white Doctors coat billowing out behind her and green medics cross emblazoned bright and bold on the arm sash pinned to her shoulder. She hadn't bothered with the contacts or makeup today, forgoing them to walk with pride burn scars and all her eyes a bright and bloody red pupils wide and almost human looking in the low light of the Dark continent rather then their normal cat like slits.
"Everything is a risk, but statistically speaking less so with our presence." Cas summarized earning a soft huff of annoyance from Cloak as the champion shifted restlessly as they approached the group able to make out the figures of a Renamon and the Cherrymon that was their contact.
"Statistically yes. Personally that doesn't mean I have to like you being involved in said risk." The SkullKnightmon rumbled out his opinion coaxing a chuckle from Dagger the sound like a scrape of a blade on stone as it rumbled out of the Zubaeagermon's throat.
"We won't let anything bad happen to Cas. Sides we might see some familiar faces." Dagger spoke his clawed feet digging into the earth as the group came to a stop a short ways from their welcoming party as the woman in question lifted her hand in greeting.
"Doctor Cross with my partners Cloak and Dagger reporting in. I hear you have a problem." Cas spoke offering the pair a fanged smile her lips only twitching for a moment as she realized the expression might not be as comforting as it once was after her change.

"This feels wrong..." Shoutmon says as he and Adrian approach the village, towards the rendezvous point that they were told to meet up at. "I mean, I don't feel right hunting another Digimon like this..."
"Neither do I, but it might have to be done," Adrian tells his partner. "This Digimon could be causing a lot of trouble for the client. And besides, we need the bits. If we do this job, we'd be set for months."
"Bits won't be good to us if we're dead though."
"Why do I feel like we've swapped personalities or something? I feel like we're saying out of character things right now."
"Maybe we did switch bodies in the middle of the night! And we haven't realized it yet!"
"Aaaand there's the Shoutmon I know," Adrian laughs. After a while, the group then reached the welcoming party, and the two of them saw a Renamon and a Cherrymon, along with the woman and... two... very intimidating knight Digimon.
"U-Umm... hey," Adrian waved. "I'm Adrian, and this is Shoutmon. We're able to help in any way we can."

When she had read over the mission posting the first time she almost had a sinking feeling that it was tawna in it. After reading it a second and third time she was relieved to figure that it indeed wasn't Tawna as they had been going around the world with Haru and K had figured that they would not simply just ditch Haru to go to the dark area for hunting purposes.
Hell she doubted that even when the other had started out that they would do something so foolish and she had to chasten herself for thinking of them at first. She had been quick to get a boat ticket to the dark area as she wasn't sure flying across the ocean was a good idea in her current state. Not so much injured or so, but more that she shouldn't exert herself. She was quick to sign up for this and did her best to put on her game face.
Not even a day later the stark white renamon shook her head a little bit and slowly stepped off the boat that had taken her to the dark area. It was of course a bit of the ways off from where the coordinates had said but that was fine. It wasn't some airship or the like that would take her there; those were damnably expensive after all.
She was quick to walk towards the coordinates after asking where it was from the ship hands. They looked a bit surprised that she was even talking to them; but her warm smile and gentle demeanor thankfully got the information she needed from them. With a soft hand shake and bow of the head she'd quickly trot towards the location in question.
It took her maybe about thirty or so minutes to reach her destination of course as she had gotten turned around a few times. But she ended up noting that there was already someone ahead of her. Her ears twitched and she'd peer up towards the 'entry' of the 'town' ahead.
Five figures closer to her, two figures further away. Those five must be a group and the other two must of been the contacts they were told of. With a sigh she'd slowly approach and politely clear her throat to grab attention when she was close enough.
It was rare enough to see another Renamon; one that seemed 'pure' in comparison to herself. She remembered when she still had the yellow fur after all; it had only been a few months ago.
"Hello. I'm here about the hunt? Signed up under the name of K."
While she offered no smile like Cassandra or those that were with her. She was still friendly to them; as she would have to work with both the contacts and those others that had signed up. She didn't really recognize Cassandra and her partners nor did she recognize Adrian and his. She had never met the latter and the former she only ever had a very brief interaction with.

A Devidramon flew high above the desolated place that was the Dark Area, his partner, a tanned man with bleached white hair was silently holding on to the draconic digimon's back, every so often looking downwards as if looking for something. Or rather, somewhere.
As evidenced by the dragon's grim expression, the self proclaimed Dark Lord hated having to be back to this wretched place. Even if it had been his birthplace, Dio felt nothing but sheer contempt towards the whole Dark Area, which was understandable when you had to spend the first years of your life having to run and hide from stronger digimon looking to consume you and absorb your data. Such was the life in the Dark Area. Even Carlos couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable being in a place with such a bleak atmosphere, the sheer dark and foreboding feeling this place exuded was almost unbearable.
But what really brought them both to such an inhospitable and unpleasant zone, if they both would have rather avoid it completely? Well, besides the payment offered by the mission giver, there was something that made this whole assignment jump to their attention immediately. Namely, the mission’s “target”: a seemingly feral Meicoomon. A quick phone call later to make sure it wasn’t any Meicoomon they knew, the duo immediately set course to the marked location, as if out of a weird sense of duty and obligation.
They knew, thanks to some rather harsh (and all too recent) firsthand experience, that if there was a feral Meicoomon involved, it had to be stopped now before it grew out of control. Not everyone had had the misfortune of dealing with something like this before hand, so to them it was only logical they’ll reach out to lend a hand. As soon as they were able they took the first bout available that passed close to the Dark Area, and decided to use Dio’s champion form to quickly close in the remaining distance to the site.
It didn’t take long for the duo to reach the rendezvous point, the small village known as Akla by the locals. Upon approaching, they quickly noticed other five figures waiting close by.
Clearly these had to be their team members for the day. Neither Carlos nor Dio recognized the woman with the pair of digimons that resembled knights in black and golden armor following her, but they did recognize the other three: the teen Adrian and his Shoutmon partner, they had already met once quite a while ago, back when Carlos had paid Haru a visit on the hospital after that whole Arkadimon debacle. It seemed him and Adrian were doomed to meet under less than ideal circumstances. But it was the other figure that really got the partners attention, a very familiar looking Renamon. The man sighed a bit once he noticed this last individual. In any other occasion, he would have been overjoyed about seeing a familiar face.
Sadly, recent events involving said face made this whole situation slightly uncomfortable for the duo. But…it was better to leave that aside for now and focus on the mission. At least, that’s what Carlos kept telling to himself as his partner began his descent.
The black dragon landed loudly a couple feet away from the group, Carlos carefully jumping off his partner’s back as a bright light enveloped the Devidramon’s form, which soon shrunk and became smaller, Dio’s Impmon form now being just barely taller than Carlos’ knees. The rapidly got close to the group.
“…hey K.” Carlos quickly greeted the fox, giving a small wave in her direction, not entirely too sure how to react to her now. Dio however, was not nearly as friendly, the small rookie not being able to take his glaring eyes away from her.
“K.” Dio nodded briefly in what could barely be considered a greeting, his tone as forcibly flat and dull as one could possibly imagine. There was neither resentment over what happened in his voice, nor happiness over seeing his teacher again. Nothing but a barely concealed feeling of distrust and confusion.
Wisely deciding to stay out of that one, the man turned to the rest of the group with a small but warm smile on his face.
“Sorry, hi ya'll. Name’s Carlos, this here’s Dio, and we’re here to help dealing with the problem.”

'Group' was a good way for the Renamon to put it - the first to show up to show up were the warrior-and-weapon twins, DarkKnightmon and Zubaeagermon. One already held the flare of the Dark Area deep in his visage, while the other's golden tint stood out against the peat moss like a sore thumb. As the group started to gather, the Xros'd Digimon distanced herself somewhat from the group, not wanting to get dragged up into this.
The Cherrymon, however, proved more hospitable. "Ah, yes - take a seat, anywhere is fine. Always nice to have someone whose seen a bit of this before." He was speaking of Cassandra's ailment, but held his tone quite indirect about it. In any case, the rest of the group had to gather first.
Second came a rather timid sort - a wordy Shoutmon and a comparatively younger-looking tamer. At this, the Renamon couldn't keep her mouth shut: "Oh, c'mon, this is one of the hunters you hired?"
"Now, come on - if we were all strictly confident then we'd never have an ounce of caution in these teams. Take a seat, Adrian - two more groups to come before I explain this in detail." He stretched out a hand, directing Adrian towards a fallen log.
The third... well. The Renamon had some interest in this one: she had the gall to walk around the Dark Area like that? "I take it back - the kid's nervous, but this Renamon's arm is literally glowing. So what's your moniker - got to burn the dark area down in the name of the knight?"
"I, um..." Wow. The Cherrymon actually had nothing for that. Thankfully, the last arrival was spared the Renamon's snark - another older tamer and his demon partner arrived via flight, calmly joining the rest of the group. Giving nothing more than a sigh, the Renamon sat off to the side, Cherrymon nodding to the group as a whole.
"And yes, that would be everyone. Welcome to Akla, origin of the Devi Bomb Liquor and curator of the finest 011 Spritz you'll ever have the pleasure of tasting... and quite honestly, the workers here would like to keep it that way."
The Cherrymon gave a sigh, leaning on his cane as he addressed the group as a whole. "I'm sure you saw it off to the west. Those thick woods are known for two things: a variety of monsters that pick travelers right off the path, and the sweetest, most delicious fruit in the Dark Area and most of the world. Unfortunately, well, we've confirmed the presence of a 'monster among monsters' - and silly as it may sound to some of you, this 'small cat problem' isn't small except for its size."
Those who could have scanned it would already know what a Meicoomon was, and the one exception had met one before. "Unfortunately, we don't know much about it other than its feral nature, willingness to attack travelers, and its intense data appetite. In fact," the Cherrymon warned, "Given its success, it may hold abilities unbecoming of its type. Ordinarily I'd be open for questions, but considering... well..."
"Hmph." The fox simply gave a huff, the Cherrymon taking a moment to clear his throat.
"Well, you seven are our last defense against this, anyway. If you come back unsuccessful or we don't hear back from you in a few days... well, the forest can't stay. Anyway, ya'll on board?"

"I rather wish I was a bit less familiar with the variety of factors of which I have suspicions are causing this issue, but my knowledge is to the groups gain." Dr. Cross spoke offering the Cherrymon a polite fanged smile even as his eyes slid over some of her more...demonic features. The bloody red of her iris's with their low crimson glow enough to hint at conflicting elements in her dna alongside the telltale canines and faded blue slash mark across her cheek that stood out in stark contrast to the ugly burn scars that could be seen twisting their way up the left side of her neck. The full extent of the damage carefully hidden by her long sleeved turtleneck and lab coat though if the woman happened to straighten her shoulders tucking her hands behind her back in a loose militaristic stance that favored her left arm such was at best circumstance. Since the woman herself was careful to keep her hands covered in gloves to hide the swaths of bandages obscuring her more pressing injury.
Turning to the rest of the team she gave each a polite nod in greeting as she carefully folded her legs beneath her and sat at Cherrymon's suggestion. Dagger, the Zubaeagermon, was quick to settle down next to her resting his head lightly in his Tamer's lap as she lightly scratched the metallic ridge above his eye earning a low rumble of pleasure from the gleaming Digimon. Cloak seemed more inclined to stand, the SkullKnightmon looming protectively just behind Cas's shoulder as he assessed the rest of their allies for the mission with calculating gold eyes. Seeming to already be silently weighing their odds.
"I haven't been able to study a Meicoomon before though I have encountered one of their evolved forms. If it has any of the poison resistance it's advanced stages possesses it's not as though normal pest control methods will work on it. It seems you really do not have a choice other then the more hands on methods and I'm not about to leave you in need or pass up the chance to study a possible anomaly where my medical background can be of use. You have my services." Dr. Cross spoke assessing the situation with a quiet sort of level-headedness one might expect from a woman used to dealing with the chaos and insanity that came with being in the medical field.
"Where Cas goes we follow." Dagger adds with an amused huff, Cloak nodding his silent agreement, as if the mere implication that they might not stand beside their Tamer was funny in it's complete unlikelihood.
"Likewise my advanced scanner and skills can be a boon to the team if the Hunter does possess abilities beyond what would be standard for it and it's type. We may not be the best trackers, but we're no slackers when it comes to combat and support. I'll be the acting medic for the team." Cas explained laying out her role and the abilities she could bring to the table to the others as she gave the rest of the group an encouraging, albeit sharp, smile in hopes they would do the same.

Adrian was taken aback, and kind of insulted, by the Renamon's comment about her and Shoutmon. "Looks can be deceiving, Renamon," Adrian says to the Renamon, trying to act as confident as possible, even though on the inside he was afraid of getting a straight punch to the face. He and Shoutmon nod to the nice Cherrymon and sit on the log.
When everyone was sitting, the two paid attention to what the Cherrymon had to say. Apparently, there was some kind of Digimon on the loose, one of the bad kinds. The two of them knew that a Digimon like that would only cause more trouble if it was still alive. Although, he didn't want it to have to resort to killing the Digimon, seeing as he already knew a Meicoomon personally. Luckily Haru and Tawna weren't here.
"I have a question," Adrian says. "Why in the world would there be a place with both delicious fruit AND dangerous monsters?"
"I have another question... what does the fruit taste like? I wanna try it!"
"Ignore him, his brain's in his stomach... anyways, we're definitely in."

K scratched her neck and stared at the renamon that addressed her. They didn't seem to like the idea that a holy digimon was here; or at least what fell into that category. It wasn't really a surprise with how the knights or luminas' reputation seemed to gather the worst sort of attention. The renamon let out a soft sigh and shook her head.
"Me? Oh. I've wanted to come to the dark area since my rebirth. Thought to pay my respects to where I lost my father. This mission is something I think he'd want handled too so..."
K scratched her ear, she was not completely used to this sort of thing yet. She had a special place in her heart for virus types thanks to him; it wasn't really a surprise and this renamon seemed to want to poke at the fact her appearance firmly landed her in the 'holy' zone. She'd give Carlos and dio a quick but bright smile before turning her attention to the Cherrymon.
"It all makes sense; from start to finish. Nothing really seems out of place; it's unfortunate that you have to deal with a 'monster among monsters' but that's just how things are I suppose."
There was a distinct pause and she'd size up those were here for a moment before crossing her arms. The cherrymon seemed to think that if they failed they'd have to destroy the forest because of this 'monster'.
"I'm up for it. I wouldn't of come out here if I wasn't."
The renamon's ear flicked and she'd dip her head in a nod as the Doctor spoke. Saying that they hadn't been able to study a Meicoomon before but they had encountered an evolved state of them. If it did have poison resistance that was fine, K could just simply use fire, ice or some other means. The absolute worst that she could assume...
Well. There were called extremes for a reason.
They were quick to take the role of medic and she wasn't about to argue against them. They didn't seem to think that they had the best tracking skills but she supposed that wouldn't stop them from trying.
"Very well. It's good to have the three of you then. I've had experience with fighting both Meicoomon and it's evolved form."
There was a brief pause and the renamon tapped her muzzle thoughtfully.
"I'm willing to take the lead when combat arises. Most of my forms are combat heavy but if the need arises I can fill whatever role... I have a plethora of forms available to me and each one of them can fit a different scope."
The renamon flicked her ear and glanced at Adrian and his digimon. They seemed young, a little out of place in the dark area. But to grow and such you'd need to go to dangerous places. Do things that were out of your comfort zone. She'd shake her head at their questions and turn to look at the forest. She wasn't ignoring them, but she certainly wasn't going to humour those questions until after the cat was dealt with.
"Where was the last place that they were sighted? The last place that they attacked? We should start from there."

Well, other than the rather standoffish Renamon on guard duty, everyone involved on this mission seemed relatively friendly. Leave it to the Dark Area to have friendlier residents than the city of angels.
What they really weren’t expecting though was K to…smile back at them? It admittedly took both tamer and digimon back for a second, as they shared a confused glance for a moment. That innocent, unironic, kind smile of hers. She…really didn’t remember a thing, did she? About that something that had been a turning point for both of them, something that by the looks of it, she wasn’t even aware off.
Perhaps that was for the best.
Dio sighed a bit as he saw Carlos returning the smile, but the imp soon smiled back to her as well, if a bit hesitantly, before they both he turned to face the Cherrymon. They would have liked to talk it out, to question K about it, get some sort of answer...but there were more pressing matters at hand right now, they both knew it was probably better to leave their rather personal issues aside, at least for the moment. They had a mission to accomplish, and they couldn’t afford distractions.
“Well I guess that makes six of us then; because we’ve also had some experiences with both Meicoomons and their evolved state in the past. Both…good and bad.” Carlos said in an amused tone after hearing both Cassandra and K mention of their knowledge regarding Meicoomons in general. At the very least this meant everyone here was at least somewhat prepared to what they would soon face.
Dio meanwhile squinted at Adrian and Shoutmon a bit, somewhat annoyed that they could be making light of the situation like that. Had it been any other day, he would have given them a piece of his mind, but frankly he just wasn’t feeling it, so he let it slide for now, instead glancing back at Cas and K as they both quickly summarized their skills and the role they would take.
When they were done Carlos lightly nudged the imp in the shoulder, silently signaling to do the same. After all, Carlos had barely seen what the imp was capable of at higher levels, so if anyone would be able to properly explain his abilities to the group it was going to be Dio himself. The purple demon kid rolled his eyes slightly at this, but didn’t complain, instead turning to the group.
“Every one of my forms has some limited ranged options, but I much rather get up close and personal to the enemy. I’m afraid attacking is about the extent of my abilities, so don’t expect healing coming from me. And if someone comes up with a strategy, I have no objections about following it, as long as it’s not suicidal.” He stated, sounding surprisingly serious and to the point about it. It was a rare sight to have the Dark Lord being asked about his abilities and not have him take the opportunity to brag about it. Hell, he didn’t even bring up his title once.
Such an out of character behavior almost worried Carlos, even if the likely causes for it were pretty easy to guess. He was either too grumpy over being back on the Dark Area, perhaps having to work with K again after that incident (and not being able to discuss it) was making him uncomfortable, or perhaps the idea of having to face a Meicoomon again, even with a group, was a bit too unappealing.
Hell, maybe it was all of that at the same time. But they had both agreed on coming to this mission, and there was no way he would back down now.
At the very least K seemed to have a good idea for how to track their "Hunter" down. It was certainly better than using someone as bait, at the very least.

Well, it didn't take everyone too long to get settled in, despite what the Renamon had to say about a few of the oncoming groups. Cassandra's experience was very much appreciated, and her general appearance of grit and a rather terrifying visage spared her any thought that she might have had less experience - though Adrian and K wouldn't be shown the same grace. The former just earned an eyeroll from the Renamon, whereas K's extended explanation just made the fox chuckle. "You do you, straight-lace."
Of course, it didn't really matter what the Renamon thought: the group's worth would show themselves quite well after the Cherrymon's explanation. Cassandra and Dio were quick to offer their skill-sets as part of the discussion, whereas K went a step further and prodded the Cherrymon for any information he had: "Hm, I guess we would know that much - that would be at Farm C, about a half-mile down the western path. Unfortunately its been about two or three days since we've sighted the target at this point, but at least we know part of its stomping grounds."
Adrian's questions, though... did they add anything? "Well, think of it this way: isn't such good fruit worth fighting over?" The Cherrymon managed a hearty chuckle regardless - and as he laughed, the Renamon reached into a bag, gave a wave towards Cassandra, and tossed something her way: a disposable camera.
"Birch tree here's going to need confirmation of the target. There's no flash and no digital parts to it, so there shouldn't be any fuss in using it."
"Well, I suppose... that aside?" The Cherrymon gave a nod towards the woods, before turning to head back into the village. "Have at it."
The Forest Entrance
'Have at it', he said - what, no warning about the dangers of the forest itself? Well, even with that amount of minimal direction, it wouldn't take them long to find the entrance to this place. A well laid dirt path, tamped down into place by the endless footsteps and wheelbarrows that walked through, would lead them right to the entrance - and it held several signs of life. The sounds of innumerable insects echoed throughout the woods, occasional calls of birds and a few beastly growls echoing out in the background.
It wouldn't take long for them to find their first problem: light. Beneath the red-leafed canopy, they would quickly find their path lead out to darkness, a standing torch long snuffed out over several days of neglect. A few mushrooms and the occasional plant glowed with a natural bio-luminescence, but the overall light provided by the sky of the Dark Area wasn't conducive for this sort of search.
And, somewhere along the way, a Bakemon (X) had ended up following them, casually floating close behind. He would even acknowledge those looking back at him with a nod. Why was he here? Just a curious watcher?
Well, given the Dark Area, it could have been worse.
Log:
The visibility in the forest is roughly fifteen feet on the path, and ten feet off of the path, if no special abilities are used. Flashlights and the like work normal, but obviously do not provide perfect light.
The forest's path branches off into three - one left, one middle, and one right, marked 'W', 'N', and 'E' respectively, by shoddy wooden signs.

Dr. Cross snagged the camera out of the air with an ease that spoke of experience. Eyeing the item in her hand she gave the device a quick once over to familiarize herself with it and confirm what the Renamon had said. It did indeed lack a flash, thank goodness given that such was as likely to blind her as it was to alert their target, and seemed sturdy enough. Slipping it into her lab coats front pocket for easy access she gave the Digimon in question a nod of thanks.
"So long as I can get a copy of any photo's I take for my files I'll be more then happy to handle getting your proof." The Doctor explained with a slim smile before the group would depart. She doubted their employers would have much an issue with her request.
In the forest the twins would flank their Tamer one step behind Cassandra on either side forming a protective barrier around the woman while still allowing her to take point. Cloak had taken up position behind her right shoulder, while Dagger slunk alongside her left side. Given that of the three of them the Doctor had the best night vision the decision was a wise one. For in the blackness of the forest the thin slits of Dr. Crosses eyes had blown wide like a cats the red orbs glowing with a faint crimson light as the woman dragged her gaze over their surroundings having to squint a bit whenever her gaze crossed over K. The Renamon's glowing sigils a bit too bright for the Doctor's own comfort.
"Would it be possible for you to cover those? I have some bandages you can borrow if you'd like~" Cas began motioning towards K's arm before she paused as she felt a light tug on her pants from one of Dagger's claws.
"Cas. We have company." The Zubaeagermon murmured nodding back to the Bakemon as the Tamer paused half turning to look towards their floating follower.
"Hello~" The Doctor spoke her voice softening at the sight of the newcomer. "Are you in need of assistance?" She inquired gently even as Cloak turned to the rest of the group.
"We should avoid attracting attention with flashlights and other illumination. We need not make ourselves bigger targets then we already are." The SkullKnightmon rumbled out eyeing the split in the road ahead with trepidation his twin for once unusually quiet though that was likely because the Zubaeagermon was keeping a wary eye upon his Tamer and the Bakemon lest the little ghost turn violent.
"I strongly suggest we not split up." Cloak added if only to curb any foolish ideas that it was in any way wise to fracture their strength for the meager reward of covering more ground and risk getting picked off in the process.

K shrugged as the other renamon didn't seem too particular to have her here. Maybe it was because she seemed to be a holy type or perhaps her answer didn't really do it for them. It didn't really matter to her; she was here to do this job and hopefully get to pay her respects. She didn't so much mind if the latter part got completed or not.
What was she supposed to say really to the other's skill sets? She knew Dio's varied but the last time she could recall he only had access to Rookie or armor champion. This was a huge step for him wasn't it? Upon given the answer K would flick her ear and nod a little bit. It was nice that they at least knew that much; if they didn't this search would be so much more wider than they'd like.
"So that area in general. All right then. Thank you."
K rubbed her muzzle and turned to the woods. They needed proof that the target was gone? That would be difficult to prove honestly as even if they failed and managed to get back they could easily lie if they really wanted. But she doubted either way that they would be unable to tell. Success meant that there were no more attacks. Failure meant more attacks. It was pretty damn simple.
K's ear flicked when the Doctor spoke again. Saying something about wanting photo's for her files... Was that really a smart idea? Unless the files were in the digital world of course. She wasn't sure what she should say to that so she simply refrained from addressing it for the meantime.
Given the forest entry and the problem it presented only made K sigh a little bit. Her natural white fur across all forms and that red cape would present a problem of course. It'd be really easy to spot her so there really was no hiding. She wasn't terribly used to searching in this darkness honestly and the only thing she could think of was to use her fire to light up the location.. but that would draw attention so much more wouldn't it?
The renamon perked up a bit when addressed by Cas. Her hand came up to the sigil and passed through it before gently clasping on the arm.
"It's only in this form I have this mark. I'll switch to something else; Sangloupmon should suffice for now and if problems arise I can go further than that."
The renamon frowned and shifted to the side for a moment, so that the rest of the group wouldn't have to look at the bit of pale light that would come from her switching to her Sangloupmon form. It wasn't piercing like most of her holy digivolutions and the light would be more like one of the mushrooms or plant's bio-luminescence.
She'd lose out on hands for the most part, but she'd get a better nose. She couldn't really ask or argue about that. She'd quickly shift back to join the group, stretching her limbs and wiggling her ears as she tried to get used to this body again. It was always a treat digivolving; it was always a pleasure to use her higher forms.
With Dagger mentioning that they had company the Sangloupmon glanced back and then shook her head. It wasn't their target and likely just wanted to see what they were up to. Cloak brought it to their attention that they should avoid attracting attention with flashlights and other types of Illumination. He did have a point; but this also meant that they couldn't use attacks that would provide light of their own if trouble arose. But considering everything she figured that if they did get in a fight it'd probably be with hostile digimon as it was and they'd be forced to do something.
"Even normally splitting up would be a bad idea. He said that the attack happened down the west path, so we should start there. Two or three days aside, there's a chance it might still be in that small area."
There was a brief pause and the sangloupmon sniffed to try to get a handle on her new nose.
"I'll be refraining from Mega or Super-mega unless things go really wrong. I don't think the Denizens around here would like seeing any of those four forms I have access to."

As soon as they had left the town for the forest, Carlos had insisted on having Dio evolve into Champion form again, something the imp did not disagree with. Sure, it would be a slightly bigger strain on his energy, but considering the extra protection it offered it was worth it.
As such, the 16 feet tall dragon now towered above the human, head lowered close to the man, his body somewhat hunched over somewhat protectively over Carlos, red eyes peering into the surrounding dark woods, waiting for anything to jump out at them…whilst still keeping an eye out on K. As much as he’d have loved to question her here and now, he had to force himself to stay quiet, if only because bringing up the fact one of the group’s members could also turn into a member of the Meicoomon line would only cause trouble.
Truth be told, even with a large group of capable warriors watching their back, Carlos still felt just slightly uncomfortable walking down the darkened path, the ominous noises of unknown origin around them only exacerbating his uneasiness.
Besides, such a large group would inevitably bring more attention to themselves, but hopefully their numbers would be enough to dissuade anything unrelated to the hunt from intervening with their search. Speaking of which, when K decided to transform into a…slightly less noticeable form, Sangloupmon. Interestingly enough, this was the first time the duo had ever witnessed this digivolution, which made them wonder just how many different forms did K even had?
Dio glared a bit at the bed sheet ghost digimon floating about not too far behind them, the Devidramon lowly growling ever so slightly. Sure, there was the possibility it was just a passerby and didn’t mean any harm, but the self proclaimed monarch knew better than to blindly trust anything roaming alone around the forest. Carlos meanwhile chose to ignore the ghost, his full attention already taken by the group’s discussion, as well as the crossroad ahead of them.
They all made a good point, splitting up here would only bring trouble and needless trouble for everyone involved should they get attacked one by one. If there was anything he had learned after watching the absurd amount of horror movie when he was younger, it was that splitting up was a death sentence. So it was using a light source to light the way. They might take longer to find anything meaningful, but it was still safer and more discreet.
"And if its not around, how should we proceed on finding it?" The Devidramon chimed in, making sure he avoided eye contact with K as he asked. Meanwhile Carlos simply quirked an eyebrow at something the wolf said immediatelly.
“I see your point K, but wouldn’t it still be easier if you turned into Mega?” Carlos asked K, somewhat confused. True, he felt slightly uneasy making K go into more powerful forms and possibly endangering herself (and the team) in the process, but if they had the power to instantly delete Meicoomon from existence, shouldn’t they use it?

Well, it seemed the group had, at the very least, a general plan in place: stay grouped up, don't do much to draw attention, and at the very least, start down the western path. For the duration of their discussion, and even K's Digivolution, the Bakemon remained silent - well, until he was addressed by Cassandra.
Right, the ghoul probably looked out of place, didn't he? He shook a head to the twin tamer's question: "D... The Xros General positioned me out here. I am merely to let out a ghastly wail should the Hunter show up on this side of the forest's border." And apparently, that was the extent of his order. He hadn't engaged in conversation past that, simply keeping his focus on the immediate area around them. Presumably, this would mean they had at least one area of the forest already covered.
Down the West Path
Going deeper into the woods, the light provided by the town of Akla would completely fall by the wayside. Though not left in complete darkness, the shade of the forest definitely made it hard to see more than a few feet out in the distance. So long as the dirt remained firm below them, though, they could follow the path relatively easily. The Sangloupmon would find the faint scent of several travelers along the path, some which had ran and diverted off the side - but these were of varying age and type. Just from this, could K really determine the only threat?
Well, perhaps they wouldn't need to. As the group made their way to the farm, they would pass by a clearing, one with a large, murky pond, one bubbling from the surface. Just as someone would reach the midpoint, the disturbance would reach a peak, a serpentine monster breaching from the surface. Naturally, the Orochimon was quite the imposing Digimon, its main head letting out a threatening hiss in the group's direction. One might take this as a threat, and lash out at a mere moment... but there was more to it. Four of its puppet heads were smashed through, their cracked visages hidden in the underbrush around the lake - and though he kept a terrifying visage, the Orochimon hard coiled tight around himself, its rattle shaking violently off to the side. Its black scales were marred with deep, glowing red cuts.
"Away..."
The tone was threatening. The state of the body, however, probably betrayed another reason for its action.
