Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) [Naoko/Raspberyl]

To Mizu's credit, she did try to keep Titania's secret. For all of one hour. Then Yukiko noticed that Mizu was overly nervous, and asked her why that was. That was when Yukiko learned that Haru had died. As soon as she had heard, Yukiko did not even take one second to grief herself. She immediately called Naoko, to express her condolences, and to make sure she was alright. She must have talked to her for what must have been an hour and a half. Only when she had hung up and made sure Naoko was ok, only then did she, too, burst into tears. It had been heavy news. While she did not know Haru as well and as personally as Naoko did, she was still part of her club, and therefore still her friend. When the girl woke up the next morning, she decided that something had to be done. She was the leader of the club. And what would she do? As the leader it was her duty to keep her club safe. And as her studies had shown, Mizu in her current state could not ideally do so. Most malevolent Digimon were of the Virus attribute. Mizu, as the Data attribute, could not harm them too well. This had to be changed. They needed a Holy Ring. "A Holy Ring?? Are you nuts?? Do you have any idea what you are asking for?? It would be easier to get a beef burger out of an open fire with your bare hands!""Is that supposed to discourage me?"Mizu knew this look. Her Tamer was -determined-. No force on Earth or in the Digital World could stop her now. She had set her mind, and she would make it happen. So, she called Naoko again. She told her of her plan, and asked for her assistance, both because Titania's Shutumon form could carry them up to the Empyrean Skies, and because she wanted to give the girl something to do so that she could take her mind off Haru. She did add that she did not have to come. After all, forcing her would not help either. So, here was Yukiko now, waiting at the shore of the grand Ocean, hoping that Naoko would come... Of fucking -course- Titania couldn't keep her mouth shut. How did Naoko know this? Getting a call from Yukiko, obviously. It was a bit of a shocker, truthfully, but the person on the other end was truthfully a tired and ragged shell that happened to be Naoko. So, yes. They were indeed on the phone for an hour and a half.
Maybe she really did need that. It did sort of help.
And a day later, another call was received. A request for help. Naoko didn't really say much during the call. Just affirmations and okays.
It took a good few minutes of contemplation. Should she? Should she not? What about Titania? So many questions...Of course, there was one deciding factor.
If she didn't help, someone might die again. Luminas was, as she had heard, a rather brutal place. So, with a glance at the aviator goggles on her desk, and her D-3...
Titania had been waiting with Yuki and Mizu at the shore. She had her own doubts that Naoko would show up. It hadn't...been as much time as she had hoped for the girl. But perhaps things would go differently. Things would go well for once. Right...?
Footsteps could be heard behind Yukiko and company as Naoko Toriya had disembarked from the Trailmon and completed a walk all the way out here. Her hood was up. Her rabbit ears were blowing in the wind. She looked no worse for wear except for some bags under her eyes, but...She was here. "...So, we're going to the skies rather than the seas this time? Good grief..."
There was one other item of note. Around Naoko's neck lay a familiar pair of aviator goggles.

Everyone turned at the sound of footsteps. And, it was, indeed, Naoko. Yukiko had subconsciously worried that she'd not come, but luckily, she was wrong. "Ah, i-i-it is good to see you, Naoko-" Before Yuki could continue speaking Mizu threw herself at Naoko's feet, actually crying. "Oh, Nao, I'm so sorry! Please don't be mad at Titania! She just needed a shoulder to cry on, and I pieced things together myself! And don't be mad at Yuki! She just can tell too easily when I hide something and I did not want to lie to her! Please! Be mad at me! I'm the weakest link in this chain of secrets! I swear no one else knows!" Yuki was a bit flabbergasted, but then she cleared her throat and gently pulled the crying frog off Naoko's shoes. Then she took a deep breath, and embraced the girl gently. "I am very sorry for your loss. And I am sorry you had to witness it. And...I am sorry I could not be there to help." After a bit, she drew back. "Yes, we are going up there. I want a Holy Ring for Mizu. I want the protective power of the Heavens, so that Mizu and I can be even better protectors. I hope Titania can carry us all."

Titania just stared at Naoko for a few moments as Yuki spoke, silent as the dead of night when no soul was awake or alive. She looked shocked. Naoko herself looked down at the crying Betamon. She...wasn't really aware of what exactly happened to let that secret out of the bag.
Furthermore she wasn't quite sure what to do with that information. "It's...It's alright. I've been having my own issues. The fairy's her own person. I-I'm not mad." She kneeled down to gently pat the crying frog on the head before Yuki pulled her off. Then she stood up to get hugged by her friend. "...It's...It's alright...I'm alright..."
No, Naoko. No you were not. When reprieve was given, she took a deep breath and stared up at the sky. "...Should be possible..." Naoko murmured, before Titania finally spoke.
"No, it's not 'should.' It is possible. I'm at the same level of power I was at before the digivice depowered me. Thusly, I can carry at least three people. Mizu included. " And with that, Titania began to glow with the light that signified evolution, the D-3 at Naoko's wrist glowing as well.
Within moments, there was a Shutumon where the Tinkermon had been.

Yuki looked deep into Naoko's eyes, a probing stare, reading her expression. "...no, you are not okay. But I won't force you to tell me what ails you. But, do know that I will always have an open ear for you." She even managed a mostly warm smile! Mostly, because Yukiko could not smile with that smidgen of socially awkward crookedness. Mizu, who was reeling back from her burst of tears, smiled at Naoko, too. "Oh, thank you thank you thank you!~" Poor girl, she was really worried about Titania and her relationship with Naoko! It spoke to the tenseness and seriousness of the current situation that Mizu did not go bananas at the sight of Titania's Shutumon form. She kept it at a full face blush. Yukiko turned to Naoko. "Come on, let's go up there, and let's get the means for Mizu to better protect the club." "And what if they don't want to give it to you?" Yuki looked back into the clouds. "Then God may have mercy on their souls."

Well.
That was nice to know. It's true that while Naoko was...far from okay? She was capable of at least helping her friend with this. At least, she thought she was. She'd see it through. She'd see it all the way through. Simple. "...I'm aware. I...It's not going to s-stop me, though."
Willpower is an incredibly powerful motivator. Almost as powerful as spite, if not more. "They'll give it to her or I'll make them do it." Titania murmured. It seemed they were to start their flight. "One of you carry Mizu and one of you carry...each other. I've not flown humans this high up before. And for the love of Yggdrasil, Homeostasis, and all in between...Please don't look down."
The bird was more than serious. Once the party was assembled and ready to fly, Titania would take off with a beat of her wings, up to, and beyond the clouds.
Piercing the heavens, if you would.

The Empyrean Skies are regarded rather... highly amongst most individuals. Its typically seen as a beautiful, peaceful locale; even if it has its fair share of detractors whom see its populace as a bunch of stuck-up bigots. Inhabitants of this region are of the angelic sort, ones whom value law, order, and faith... For some, this gives them ample excuse to throw fuel to their own bigoted fire regarding their justifications to dislike the region; though not all shared this belief. One thing that was certain though among everyone was that the government of Luminas was... a tad bit rigid, especially towards newcomers.
The blonde, emerald-green Shutumon would rather easily sense two individuals as she ascended through the clouds and neared Empyrean territory... A Piddomon and Gargoylemon respectively; the two two white-clad angels' gaze directed to the bird woman as they glided towards her with an indifferent vibe to their movement.
The more humanoid of the two gazed at the pair of humans and Betamon that they were carrying, his frown curving slightly more. While both pairs of eyes were obscured (a common trait for angel Digimon), one could easily tell they both were rather critical of the four. "Afternoon ma'am. I hope you don't mind us checking up on you and those... passengers of yours." the Piddomon dryly spoke, the Gargoylemon scoffing slightly as he firmly held his staff. "Tamers I presume? There are better forms of transportation if you need to get somewhere beyond flying like that... Unless you are planning to go to the Empyrean Skies that is."
The Gargoylemon scoffed as he flared his nostrils, frowning visibly. "Y'know, we can't just go letting just anyone fly around here! Its a sanctioned airspace! If we just let people just come and go as they pleased, we'd be out of a job!"

Yukiko and Mizu could not help but gasp in astonishment as they pierced through the clouds and got their first glimpse of the city of Luminas in the distance. However, it appears it would remain at a glance, as soon the four were approached by a border patrol of sorts, consisting of an angel man and some sort of gangly flying jackal. Seems that they want identification, and to know what their business was in Luminas! Yukiko blinked. "E-e-e-h? Y-yeah, w-we're Tamers! W-we want to get to Luminas to apply for a Holy Ring! Uh, identification, uuuh...wh-wh-where's my Digivice..." Mizu kept up a big smile, and winked at the two. "If you want my ID, you can have it, ya hunks~" She then opened her mouth and unfurled her tongue, at the end of which was...a glittery business card, with a photo of Mizu that was positively drowning in Instagram filters. It identified her as Mizu, gave her species, attribute and level...and named her "The Most Gorgerous Gal In The Sea" in a sparkly font.

Oh, great. Turns out, the dreaded welcome wagon that Titania had only heard legends about was actually real. Dreadful. Just dreadful. At least the sight up above the clouds was pretty. Almost holy in nature. Naoko could barely say anything until she had been spoken to and Yuki had begun speaking to the Pidmon and Gargoylemon. "...Tamers, yes. It's basically what she said." She raised her wrist to show off the D3 in it's cradle.
Titania meanwhile stared at Mizu's business card. "...I need to frame that." She uttered. Unfortunately, she couldn't really procure a business card when she was carrying three people...
So.
A formal introduction was in order. "I am Titania, Daughter of Sun and Sea. My arms are kind of full at present." Naoko just hit her scanner and it promptly scanned Titania, and read out her attribute and everything. Sure enough?
It named her the Daughter of Sun and Sea.

While they both perhaps seemed a bit uptight about this routine checkup, the relaxed body language showed they were not in particular looking for a fight... Might have also helped that everyone was being cooperative about this as well, that or not wanting to incur the wrath of the Shutumon. The Champion levels seemed mildly perturbed by where the Betamon, though their attention was especially drawn to the four's business in Luminas. "Err... I see." the Pidmon awkwardly mumbled as he somewhat slowly reached for the ID Mizu presented, looking it over. "Well, ma'am... That is an admirable goal to seek the holy light of a holy ring, but... hmm."
The Gargoylemon on the otherhand flashed a toothy grin and chuckled, shaking his head apprehensively. "You gotta be jokin' though... You really think you can just waltz up to Luminas and get a Holy Ring toots? I mean, you could just get one of those cheap nicknack ones, but thats just a souvenir... The real deal's not just something that gets given away after all!" the gargoyle gruffly spoke as he folded his arms, though the Piddomon merely shot him a look as he handed back the card to Mizu.
"Well... It is free to apply for one... but my co-worker here is right that its not an easily obtained item if one does not already have one. Holy rings are something that either are within your lineage, or are earned from feats of great heroism." the Piddomon politely spoke, brushing at his hair briefly; he seemingly was uncomfortable with the topic. "Digivices will do fine for identification for the four of you during you time at Luminas, but I wouldn't really get your hopes up... It may be just easier to check if you have holy data to begin with rather than getting tangled up in that whole process... If you'd like to ladies, I could do that for you here." the angel offered, glancing at the two Digimon here.

Before Yuki could say anything, Mizu intervened. "Oh, don't bother scanning me, I got no holy data at my core. But I am determined and I have a good heart! That gotta count for something, right?" Yuki nodded. "Y-y-y-yes, I did hear that while holy data is one requirement for a holy ring, but that they can also be granted to those deserving of them...my goal is to find someone capable of granting them, and proving to them that I and Mizu are worthy of a holy ring." It sounded utterly ridicolous, but the girl was serious, and determined. "I don't care if it will take me hours, days or weeks, I will not give up. We need the holy ring to better protect our friends."

"Scan me if you so wish. I share my partner's determination. Do you know of any officials with the permission to grant such rings...?" Titania inquired. Unfortunately every bit of legend, rumor and hearsay she had heard of how much of a slog talking to these people could be was being proven true. "I can vouch for Yukiko and Mizu, as can my tamer. If she's...even willing to speak, that is...But we are resolute in what we wish for. And as she said? We shall not give up."
Because giving up is for quitters. She wasn't a quitter. And Titania knew Naoko wasn't either. "...Please, just...answer our questions in a straightforward manner..." The girl muttered.

Piddomon while gave Mizu a simple nod as the amphibian came clean, his partner was a tad ruder at the wide-eyed Betamon's idealism; he scoffed as he crossed his arms in a disgruntled manner. "Look lady, thats what they always tell ya... but look at me and my pal here. You see holy rings? We been working our butts off for fifteen years and we STILL haven't got any!" the gargoyle gruffly spoke. Sure enough, a close inspection would show neither angelic Digimon had that pristine gold ring on their person... Guess not all holy Digimon had them?
The pink Angemon lookalike merely shot his partner a somewhat harsh look (or at least looked like he did... hard to tell with his eyes obscured) before turning back to everyone. "Well, I don't think that is reason to stop if you truly seek one. That is a good conviction to hold if you are truthful in your resolve." they softly spoke, even giving a gentle smile. "Very well... I see no harm in allowing you all passage provided you mind your manners in your time at Luminas. Allow me to scan you daughter of Sun and Sea by your request..." the angel politely spoke as she gazed towards Titania and held out his staff... a gentle light emanating from it towards Titania; a soft light emanating from her as well around where her heart would be.
Her Digicore.
Something caused the Piddomon to briefly flinch, he soon dismissing the light as he gave a polite bow to the birdwoman. "... Apollomon data runs in your blood. A powerful lineage as well. I... I'm honestly a bit shocked you aren't a native to Luminas truth be told." the angel commented as he recollected himself. "A-Anyway! If you seek one of these rings, I'd recommend you seek a First or Second Sphere angelic Digimon. They would be those of the Mega or Super Mega level... Not all converse with the lower populace, but there are some who might be willing to listen to your pleas."
"I recommend Lisa the Joyous. She's a real charmer, that one." the Gargoylemon spoke, though it was clear from the snarky grin on his face and the way his companion looked at him that was not a particularly good idea.
"... Maybe not her." Piddomon spoke, almost hesitant to even speak about this Lisa... but why?

Yuki let the air escape from her lungs. She'd been holding her breath for a while now in anticipation. But now they had gotten permission to pass, and the first hurdle was taken. She smiled and nodded to the two Digimon. "Th-th-thank you, you two. W-w-w-we will do our best!" Mizu nodded. "Yeah, thanks!" She shot a wink at the Gargoylemon. "They may not want to give you a ring, but you can always feel like an angel on a date with me, gorgeous~"
Ah, seems there is an angel to be avoided? That's troublesome... "W-w-w-well, we'll find a good angel to judge us, th-th-thanks again!" As they moved closer to the city, Mizu prodded Titania. "Ya never told me you're related to the Olympus XII!"

Titania tilted her heads. Fifteen years? Was there some sorta employee of the month kind of deal here? Naoko was equivalently befuddled. Odd. Titania nodded as she was scanned and gave a rather confident expression out. "I have no reason to lie, friend." She really didn't. Though, it hadn't really occurred to her just how powerful her lineage was.
It called into question how much of her power was her own and how much came from mom and dad. She paid close attention to their recommendations. Okay. So. "Avoid Lisa, find a good mega level. Or Super Mega. Got it." Felt like Lisa would tear them apart, honestly. As the group embarked closer to the city, Titania looked to the prodding fish. "Well...I think I shared that with you before. But I might be misremembering. A-Anyways...Yeah. My dad's an Apollomon and my aunt's a Dianamon." The fairy gave a nod. "...I told Dad about you three. He -really- wants to meet you guys."
"...Even me?" Naoko inquired, gaze locked ahead towards the city. "Yeah!"
