Journey of Answers (Adrian/Rebecca/Leith)

Post by Leith, Veemon, and Shoutmon on Sept 25, 2018 2:50:14 GMT
The only reason Leith survived was because Grademon telegraphed his move. First he taunted AeroVeedramon, and of course he had to look at Leith to accurately throw the sword. Still, Leith, alert and invested in the battle, could tell AeroVeedramon was too far and at the wrong angle to have a chance of intercepting the blade. Shoutmon and company were even father with even less chance to stop that blade. No one was coming to save him.
He had to save himself.
"Digi-modify! Wild Growth!" the boy declared while swiping a card across his Arc and looking quite scared. Extremely rapidly, the entire battlefield began to change. Every tree became taller, thicker, and even began to bend in odd shapes. What was once a dense forest was becoming a very cramped and even darker near-jungle with trees and tall grass making it hard to move while a thicker canopy let less light shine down. Importantly for Leith, though, one tree sprouted from the ground just in front of Leith's body
Leith actually let out a sigh of relief... until he was again staring down the point of a blade. Apparently it was so sharp and well-thrown that it managed to puncture all the way through that new, tough wood and look Leith int he eye only to stop less than a food from the tip of his nose. "Ah! God!"
Leith couldn't see AeroVeedramon with this view, but he could hear him shriek, "Leith!"
"I'm OK!" Leith sounded off. "Ah, fuck! I'm freakin' the hell out, but I'm OK! Holy!" With Leith apparently safe, AeroVeedramon turned back to Grademon to check on the condition of his opponent - specifically, if he was down or whether AeroVeedramon might be allowed the pleasure of hitting him again. Leith blocked Grademon's attack with Wild Growth.
Wild Growth is in effect: 2 posts remaining.
Horn Tone has cooled down. Blackened Roar has cooled down.

The others were so surprised by the turn of events that had just passed. First off was Grademon's sudden sword-throw at the humans, possibly to kill one of them. Fortunately, Leith used the Wild Growth card in a way no one had expected:
The card caused a tree to grow right up in front of Leith, blocking the sword as it penetrated right through, and it looked like that alone had freaked out Leith.
"Leith!" White Wolf cried as she and Adrian ran up to the Tamer. "Are you okay?"
Thankfully, AeroVeedramon's attack had worked... Grademon was lying unconscious, just like Dianamon... seemed all good right?
Wrong, as was proven with OmniShoutmon being flown right past the others and slamming right into a tree.
"Heh heh heh," Knightmon taunted, while the Twins were still standing albeit very damaged. "I hove difeated Supah Megahs befoh... yer all'a piecea cake!" He would then hold his sword strong as it began to emit flames.

Super mega? Leith cried out internally. There's a level beyond mega, and this guy's beat 'em? As OmniShoutmon got utterly wrecked, Leith shouted out of concern, "OmniShoutmon! Don't drop yet! We can get this done!" Leith didn't wholeheartedly believe that, but the alternative was death. As Leith wondered whether he might have a card to help his comrade out, his D-Arc vanished before his eyes. "Ah, shit. That's not good. Guys! I can't help anymore! Cards are shot!"
"Stay out of the way! I can't fight him and worry about you at the same time!" That was a sentiment Leith could get behind, so he tried to take hold of one of Adrian's and Rebecca's wrists, hoping to pull them nice and far back out of the way.
This extremely thick jungle forced AeroVeedramon back onto the ground; there was just no room to fly anymore. That didn't stop AeroVeedramon from reading to keep up the good fight, though. Despite his heavy breath and a few painful wounds, he still looked resolute. Sensing a clear theme with these digimon - close quarters, AeroVeedramon again flicked his horn and caused it to resonate, refreshing its effect. "I don't care if you faced Yggdrasil himself! You're not hurting our friends!" He then stood firm and alert with claws brandished, wanting this unknown opponent to make a move first. Wild Growth is in effect: 1 post remaining.
The effect of Horn Tone has ended. AeroVeedramon used Horn Tone. Horn Tone must cool down: 3 posts remaining.
Horn Tone: This digimon flicks his own horn, which causes a sustained ring much like Sonoramon's orbs. The sound can only be heard from up to 10 feet away, but for the four posts it spends ringing, digimon who get close enough to hear it take mild sonic damage each post (approximately 20% normal Aeroveedramon damage per post). Cooldown: 3 posts.

"Wasn't... planning on it!" OmniShoutmon yelled at Leith as he got up from the ground. A quick muscle movement later and he was back in the game, ready to fight!
Thankfully Leith didn't have to grab onto any wrists; Adrian and Rebecca already knew that it would probably be a good idea to back up and watch the fight from a safe distance away.
AeroVeedramon seemed to have difficulty flying through this now super thick jungle. Luckily, Adrian seemed to have just the solution for it. He had four card slashes left, so he pulled out a card and used it.
"Digi-Modify! Final Destination Activate!"
And just like that, the trees began turning into digital dust and disappearing right before everyone's eyes. Finally, it was time; all four Digimon were surrounding Knightmon, They couldn't see it, but he was smirking underneath his helmet.
Knightmon raised his sword and stabbed the ground with it. As he did, a wave of fire was emitted from it, knocking everyone back quite a ways and damaging them too. At this point the twins were now in even worse shape...

"What?" That was about all AeroVeedramon had the time to cry in surprise when a ranged attack struck him. Like OmniShoutmon earlier, a tree broke his fall, but given his mass and the tree's much weaker state (thanks to Adrian), the dragon uprooted it entirely and several more behind it before finally coming to a stop.
"Not good!" Boy, was Leith glad he kept away right then. "Adrian, we've gotta guard the twins!"
"I'm... fine..." As sure as the DNA digimon sounded about that, he sure didn't look fine from Leith's point of view. Still, he managed to get on his feet before he could get hit again. Suddenly he seemed a lot less worried about feeling his opponent out. Soon as his feet were under him, AeroVeedramon lunged, and with one good flap of the wings to give him some extra distance while keeping him near the ground, he was able to close all the distance lost from before. Just as he landed, he then kept his momentum moving forward and went straight to his tried and true, "Aeropunch!" again striking at his opponent both with his fist and a tornado-force wind and naturally trying to get within that sound range while doing so.
Wild Growth has been neutralized by Adrian's Final Destination.
AeroVeedramon was hit by Knightmon's attack. AeroVeedramon attacked Knightmon with Aeropunch. Aeropunch's accuracy was boosted by Adaptability.
Horn Tone must cool down: 2 posts remaining. Aeropunch must cool down: 2 posts remaining.
Aeropunch: This digimon punches the target with enough force that it displaces the wind around his fist. Half this attack's damage may come from the impact of the fist, and the other half may come from the force of the displaced wind, which has about a 20-foot, 360-degree range to deal damage, adding up to 150% of normal Aeroveedramon damage. This attack may only be used while Aeroveedramon is not flying. Both forms of damage are considered Close Range for Adaptability. Cooldown: 2 posts.
Adaptability (passive): While this digimon is flying, his ranged attack accuracy is boosted by 20%, but his close-up ability accuracy is reduced by 15%. While this digimon is not flying, his close-range accuracy is boosted by 20%, but long-range accuracy is reduced by 15%. This ability only applies to Blackened Roar, Aeropunch, Dragon's Soul, and Bull Charge.

OmniShoutmon was hit by the ranged attack to, but unlike AeroVeedramon, he managed to get his footing and slide backwards instead. Meanwhile, GeoGreymon and KendoGarurumon were in a similar state as AeroVeedramon, sliding right into a tree.
"Hahaha," Knightmon taunted. "Iz dat REALLY da best dat you con do?"
"Shut up already," GeoGreymon growled as he shot another Mega Flame at Knightmon, which caught him off guard and caused him to take damage. He growled and looked towards GeoGreymon.
"Damned lizahrd," he yelled before being struck by AeroVeedramon's Aeropunch, which sent Knightmon flying right into GeoGreymon's tail swing, followed up by a Lupine Laser from KendoGarurumon. After so many attacks right at once, Knightmon was easily getting pretty pissed off.
His sword began to charge with fire as OmniShoutmon dashed right after Knightmon at full speed. Suddenly, right as OmniShoutmon would strike, Knightmon whipped around and slashed OmniShoutmon right in the gut with his sword. OmniShoutmon scrapped against the ground as he slid to a stop, his lower abdomen leaking out data. He was bleeding...
"OmniShoutmon!" Adrian yelled in distress.

"No!"
"OmniShoutmon!" Though he himself grunted from the pain and effort it took, AeroVeedramon stepped in front of his comrade defensively.
"Adrian, Rebecca, how much more can you guys take?" Leith asked his fellow Tamers with an air of concern, "I don't wanna sound defeatist - you know them better than I do - but from what I can tell, they're closer to their limit than AeroVeedramon is." Leith decided not to add, Though not by much, even if he personally believed it. Then, in order to talk straight to his digimon, he had to use comms. "Guys, we only have one clear advantage over this guy: numbers. I don't know how you can work with that, but-"
"I know exactly how to 'work with that!'" With a tone of voice like that, Leith could already tell he was gonna see yet another whole new trick before it even happened. He wasn't disappointed. After saying that, AeroVeedramon glowed white... and split. Left standing there were ExVeemon and Sonoramon.
"Guys, no!" Leith ordered, "You can't afford to give up that power!"
"Oh! We know what we're doin', Leith!" Despite Sonoramon's cocky attitude, a hiss from pain still escaped him. "Think you can keep up, ExVeemon?"
"Don't... patronize me. I've been doing this a lot longer than you, kid! ExVeemon, digivolve to..."
"Sonoramon, digivolve to..."
"...oh, my God." Leith recognized this for what it was instantly: not one DNA ultimate digivolution but two separate, simultaneous digivolutions to the ultimate level. "Are they fucking-!"
"...Plesiomon!" the blue digimon roared as he assumed the form of the plesiosaur digimon.
"...MegaSeadramon!" the red digimon bellowed as he became a giant red sea serpent.
"Let's see if you can handle us all!" The pair then simultaneously boasted.
DNA ultimate AeroVeedramon devolved one stage to champions ExVeemon and Sonoramon.Champion ExVeemon digivolved one stage to ultimate Plesiomon Champion Sonoramon digigolved one stage to ultimate MegaSeadramon.

"I... I don't think any of us can take much more," White Wolf says to Leith, looking at the situation unfold in front of her. "The twins can only reach Champion, and the ultimates aren't doing so well either..."
Adrian searched through his cards again. He knew he had a health card somewhere... ah, there it was!
"Digi-Modify! Regenerate Activate!" Slowly but surely, OmniShoutmon's wound started to heal. Already it felt better than it was before...
"Can you guys keep Knightmon busy?" Adrian asked Leith's Digimon. "OmniShoutmon needs time to heal."
And just like that, Sonoramon and Exveemon digivolved to their Ultimate forms: Pleisomon and MegaSeadramon, respectively! Everyone else just stared at the two in awe.
Knightmon was pretty pissed at this point. He was alone, his comrades defeated in battle. Still, he knew he had a job to do. It was his job to bring the boss back from the subconscious mind of OmniShoutmon. He wasn't going to let a couple of Digimon stand in his way.

"Let's ask the judges," Leith decided just before echoing the request through his digivice. "OK, guys. First off, holy shit! Now that's outta the way, think you can keep our man busy long enough for the Nettlebrand to recover?"
"Who the fuck is Nettlebrand?"
"You know, Nettlebrand the Golden- fuck, I gotta make you read that book."
"We'll get it done!" Plesiomon assured before turning to his twin and demanding, "How are we gonna get it done?" The serpent had no shoulders, but he still found a way to make clear he was shrugging. "Fine. Hydroglobe!" This was essentially a terrain changing card but one which removed the card from the process entirely. At first it looked like a bubble had suddenly appeared in front of Plesiomon, a round sphere... that was about the height size of a New York City high rise. When it did, MegaSeadramon slithered right into it and used it to nimbly swim around inside.
"Whirlpool Spin!" Inside the globe of water, Megaseadramon began to swim rapidly in a circle over and over. This effectively turned it into a tornado made of water with all the same suction and destructive power of a real tornado if not even more.
"Rebecca!" Leith then called to his other ally, "Or, Wolf, whatever! Look: know your limits. We still need your guys as long as we can have 'em, but don't let them risk death for it. Got it?"
Plesimon used Hydroblobe. MegaSeadramon entered the Hydroglobe. MegaSeadramon attacked Knightmon with Whirlpool Spin. Whirlpool Spin's damage was boosted by MegaSeadramon's Twin Dragons.
Hydroglobe must cool down: 2 posts remaining.
Whirlpool Spin must cool down: 1 post remaining.
Hydroglobe: While on land, this digimon compresses moisture in the air to create a giant bubble of water large enough to swim around in comfortably. While inside the hydroglobe, Plesiomon is considered to be underwater for the purposes of his or other digimon's abilities. The bubble of water stays intact for three posts before evaporating. Cooldown: 2 posts.
Whirlpool Spin: If used on land, This digimon slithers around an opponent a small tornado that damages opponents with wind damage. If used underwater water, this digimon swims rapidly in a circle to create a whirlpool that sucks in opponents and deals water damage. Using this ability underwater boosts this ability's damage by 20% but also adds a cooldown of one post.
Twin Dragons (Passive):Any post in which this digimon's twin does not use a damaging ability, this digimon's damaging ability strikes with the base damage of a non-twin digimon.

White Wolf debated on whether or not she should have her Digimon pull out of this fight. Eventually, she made a decision:
"Geo. Kendo. Stand down, now."
"Wait, what?! But why?!"
"Because you are both hurt, and I will not have you two die on me!"
"Wolf, must I express how important this is?"
"And your own LIVES aren't important?! I'm giving you an order: STAND. DOWN."
Reluctantly, GeoGreymon and KendoGarurumon complied, both devolving back to their rookie forms and running back to join by her side. When they came back, she gave the two of them a giant hug. "I'm so glad you guys are you again..."
Knightmon thought he was prepared for any attack that these two Digimon might throw. Turned out he was NOT expecting a giant water tornado to be formed, heading right towards him! Of course he mentally freaked out, near the point of actually showing it. The tornado came closer... and closer...
There was no way he could still be standing after this...

MegaSeadramon wasn't keen on taking that chance. Before Knightmon could back on his feet, so the serpent hoped, the sea snake exited his wet ball shelter to return to dry land, where he swiftly tried to coil around the armored digimon before he could get his feet back under him. This was an attempt to keep him held well in place, as he was clearly the biggest threat of the trio. "I swear to shit, I will pop you like a balloon if you even twitch a muscle." Just to show that he could, MegaSeadramon then squeezed nice and tight, proving his threat was not empty; he would, and he could.
With the threat apparently neutralized, Plesiomon reverted - but not to Veemon. No, this new form, fight, and extreme power tuckered him out so far that he went all the way back to DemiVeemon. Leith was tempted to go pick him up, seeing as he wasn't moving, but he did not want to get close to the battlefield, especially as the hydroglobe broke and splashed absolutely everything beneath it. So instead, Leith just let out a relieved sigh and dropped like he was the one battling right on his rear. "Can we be done now?" he groaned. Ultimate plesiomon devolved to in-training DemiVeemon.

Finally, the battle was over... OmniShoutmon devolved back into Shoutmon, although he was still exhausted from the fight. The twins went over to help him up, but Shoutmon was being stubborn and pushing them away, getting up on his own. However, White Wolf noticed something...
"Did anyone tie up those other goons from before?"
"Uh... no. Why?"
"Because they just got up and left."
"WHAT?!!!" Shoutmon screams. As it turns out, she was right; Grademon and Dianamon were nowhere to be found. Did they become deleted after they were knocked unconscious? Or did they actually get up and run? No one would know...
"Oh well... at least we have THIS guy to talk for us." Shoutmon stomped over to the captured Knightmon angrily. "Alright, spill it... ALL of it! What do you want with me? Why do you want to hurt my friends?!"
"...you call these humans your friends?" Knightmon asked, his accent completely disappearing. "How ironic. Last time I saw you as yourself, you wanted to eliminate the humans."
"W... What? Y-You're lying!"
"Why would I lie? You wanted the truth, right? I suppose you don't want to remember your own master plan, do you?"

Well, Knightmon seemed good and truly restrained, so Leith felt safe enough to walk forward and witness these events happening himself. The first thing he did when he got back to the battlefield, however, was to pick up DemiVeemon in his arms. The little blue digimon was still unresponsive, but at least he was safe. So to Shoutmon he then spoke, "Don't even entertain it," the young man advised. Perhaps this was a piece of advice born of a little faith and baseless optimism, but there's also the fact that, "They tried to convince us MegaSeadramon turned traitor for no reason, too, but the current evidence suggests otherwise." Amazingly, Leith had the courage to stare down the hopefully immobilized knight digimon as he insulted and taunted him to his face. Then he looked back to Shoutmon as he concluded, "I don't know everything you know, but I think that if we're just going to hear more lies, we should just eliminate the threat and be done with it. Hey, MegaSeadramon! What do you think?"
"Tempting offer," he mused, "But Shoutmon? It's your call."

"Oh, I wasn't a part of that at all," Knightmon chuckled evilly. "That was all Grademon's and Dianamon's decision. Besides, wouldn't you like to know... your previous self's plan?"
Shoutmon's eyes widened at that. "You tell me everything. NOW!"
"Heheheh... the boss has a big plan for you low-life humans. You don't know it, but soon your very species will go extinct. We've been planning it for years; nothing can stop us now!"
"We just stopped you," Agumon states, crossing his arms.
"Due to pure luck. Did you not just see how we manipulated you all? Imagine all the recruits we can gather with that power!"
"Your mind control device got destroyed, remember," White Wolf pointed out.
"So? We have loads more. If you want to know more, that Lilamon's journal right there will give you all the motivation you need, boss... so, what are you gonna do? Sentence me to my death?"
"I... I can't. Even if you're twisted and evil, I don't believe in the Death Penalty. Let him go, MegaSeadramon."
"Oh, that won't be necessary..." Knightmon says, before he just vanishes just like that. He was gone...

Shoutmon's decision was not the right one, at least in MegaSeadramon's eyes. Still, he held off... at least until Knightmon issued that taunt. He was quick enough on the uptake and so knew something would happen. Preemptively, then, he tried to violate Shoutmon's wishes and finish off the enemy. "Life Squeezer!" he hissed as his body suddenly constricted with extreme force. It didn't matter, though; Knightmon managed to slip away just before he could get hurt, leaving MegaSeadramon to fall over. "Shit!"
"God, just be happy they're gone," Leith reluctantly groaned, "even if they're definitely coming back." Leith looked at Shoutmon as he considered, I'm half-tempted to chew him out for not neutralizing a clear and present threat, but it looks like Knightmon didn't need our permission to escape. So instead he said, "Hey, uh... if you could, like, not let that guy take over digimon minds and destroy the human race, that'd be great."
"Why the hell would you even say that?"
"Because joking makes me seem less scared, and you making me explain it is pretty much ruining it!"
Shoutmon attacked and missed with Life Squeezer.
Life Squeezer: On the post this ability is activated, this digimon coils up defensively, becoming immobilized but reducing all damage he takes by half. In the next post, this digimon uses all of the muscle in its extremely muscular body to grab and squeeze the opponent tightly enough that the opponent's body may be crushed. Limit: Once per thread.
