There was no warning or preparation as a portal suddenly opened up in the middle of the Shining Sea a few miles away from the Ancient Capital of Ys. A Biyomon fell through, rolled a couple times, and skidded to a stop upon hitting a small pile of snow. As quickly as the portal had appeared, it disappeared again, leaving the Digimon by herself in the Northern Prominence. The landscape was still for a long moment as snow drifted steadily down from the sky, covering the basin in a blanket of white. The only sound that could be heard was the wind whistling through the crystals and, if one listened very carefully, the bustle of the distance capital city.
After some time, the mound of snow began to stir, and where there was once an unconscious Biyomon, there was now a Puwamon. With a pop, she emerged above ground, her wire-thin tail wrapped around a lavender and white digivice that was only slightly smaller than herself. Her large, blue eyes were wide with horror as she looked around her surroundings and realized where she had ended up: the frigid wastelands of the north. This couldn't be happening. She wasn't really here. She wasn't in her lowest level form. She wasn't completely and utterly alone.
A gust of icy wind whipped through her body in that very instant and, in doing, solidified the situation in her mind. The baby Digimon shuttered as the cold made its way passed her feathers and chilled her down to the core. There was no time to mope. She needed to find some place warm to rest and come up with a plan. Food would also be crucial in getting her strength back and digivolving back to her rookie form. Only then would she be able to tackle the journey back to Terminus City. With a vague plan in mind, the Puwamon began bouncing her way through the Shining Sea.

The Shining Sea was exactly what one would expect from the name. A brilliantly shining sea, though not one of water. The fact was...it was snow! One may think that a Keramon would be severely discouraged from treading upon this land, but shockingly enough, Mae was just fine slithering across the Shining Sea. She had been reading through her recent purchase of a book written in -old Digimoji- for a good while now and figured that a walk would do her about as well as a breath of fresh air could do.
And yet, her walk took her a ways out. A few miles, in fact. The Keramon sighted something peculiar amongst the sand-like snow in the form of...A Puwamon? It had a digivice in it's tail and was bouncing through the sea. Normally, Mae would leave such things alone, but those blue eyes looked so scared!
At least she thought they did. The Keramon whistled. "Hey, kiddo, you lost?"

Under Ryouta's influence, Kenny had been taking the incentive to exercise more with Skadi to become more active in his day to day life. While, yes, he left the heavier exercises to (what felt like) his older bro (despite Kenny being the older of the two), on slower days, Kenny and Skadi would either go on a walk at Ys or the Shining Sea in the afternoon. The time dilation certainly helped them in this case, and often, if he wasn't busy, Odin would tag along to collect smaller shards to sell later.
An advantage of walking around in the afternoon was that the crystals would give out a faint glow. It wasn't as spectacular as it was at night, but then again, it wasn't exactly safe to be in a lot of places at night. Still, it felt quite euphoric to be under the light of the crystals as the sun set. Kenny had all but given up trying to convince himself this was all just a crazy dream, but that didn't make it any less spectacular every time they reached a new place.
But today was a little different. Most days, they would often find other Digimon wandering around, either minding their own business, but they were above Rookie level, and the odd Fresh or In-Training would often see a larger Digimon protecting them. As the 3 were walking, Skadi's eyes glanced at a teeny Puwamon carrying... something in it's tail, forcing her to stop in her tracks. "Hey, guys. I think that Puwamon looks lost." The Valaismon said as she pointed to the Fresh level bird.
"A Puwamon?" Odin started to muse, "Kid kinda reminds me of me. After all, that's my own Fresh form." He inquired out loud as the Puwamon bounced along.
"I don't think this needs any saying, but I think we should go help it out." Kenny added, glancing at the adorable creature, "After the SkullBaluchimon incident, we're not gonna let it take any chances all by itself now, are we?" The other two nodded, and almost immediately, they walked over to the Puwamon.
But as they were getting closer, it turned out the thing the Puwamon was holding was a D-3. What exactly had happened to it? Did it's Tamer die and it was left to rot here? Was the Digivice broken or something? Were they just separated? The call of a Keramon nearby made Skadi's head turn; thankfully, she seemed willing to help it too. Skadi was the first of the group to approach the Puwamon, as she gave a friendly, reassuring smile to comfort it, leaning down a bit to get a little closer, "Hey there, little fella. What brings you to the Shining Sea?"
Kenny was next, looking at the Puwamon himself, "It's not safe for someone like you to be out here, Puwamon." He leaned down to try and grab the baby ball of feathers, and pet it to reassure it, "Look, how about we take you over to Ys, OK? We can clean you, and feed you, and help you until you get back on your feet. There's plenty of people willing to help over there, even us members of KIZNA." He flashed the badge on his clothes, in a bid to show it there was nothing to worry about. Odin just nodded in agreement with them. They were willing to help it in any way they could.

She had been traveling for no more than ten or fifteen minutes before a Keramon stepped in front of her, instantly causing her to stop and look up. "Hey, kiddo, you lost?" they asked, eying her like she was a helpless fresh-level. Oh, right, she was. Something about the fact that the stranger called Birdie "kiddo" bothered her, but she did her best to bite back her annoyance. This Keramon thought she was a helpless child and maybe she could use it to her advantage. They looked willing and able to help, after all, and that's exactly what she needed right now. Birdie told herself that she'd accept the help, return to her rookie form, then destroy them the moment she had an opening.
The plan was foolproof -- or, it was until another stranger walked up, this one a Valaismon. The arrival of another Digimon complicated things and bothered Birdie further. As she stared up at the sheep with large, innocent-looking eyes, she began to mentally adjust her plan accordingly. If these two were together then killing them when she reached her rookie form would prove to be truly difficult. Okay, maybe she would have to abandon that idea and settle with a more passive approach instead. They would provide her with food and shelter, and she'd pay them back by allowing them to live. That seemed fair.
The Valaismon called her "little fella," another name which bothered Birdie more than it probably should've, and asked what she was doing in the Shining Sea. Birdie chirped once, as if to say that she couldn't fully explain the circumstances of her situation right now but that she was eager to receive any help they were offering. She wasn't exactly trying to play up her cuteness, but if that happened to aid her in this particular instance then she wouldn't complain.
As if her chirp was a summoning spell, two other individuals walked up: a Peckmon and... oh, goody... a human. Birdie turned her entire body to face the human, her once playful and friendly demeanor shifting to that of unexplainable hostility and perhaps a bit of fearfulness. With her feathers ruffled, her eyes narrowed into a glare, and her tail sparking with static, there was no doubt that she disliked the man in front of her. The rage she felt only seemed to grow more intense when he opened his mouth, saying that it wasn't safe for someone like her to be out here. Of course she knew it wasn't safe! Did he really think she was out here just for fun? It wasn't her decision to come to this tundra in the first place, and he was a fool for not being able to see that.
Who did he think he was anyway? He was the meat-bag here in need of a Digimon companion to protect him from the dangers of the digital world. If anyone was in danger, it was him. She didn't need saving if it meant accepting this human's help, or so she told herself over and over again. Humans were weak. Humans were liars. Humans were better off dead. If he chose to try picking her up in her current state, she would've spit out a beam of bubbles to detour him. And, if that didn't work and he continued trying to hold her regardless of her protests, she would've dropped the digivice and spun around to hit him with her electrified tail.
It didn't matter to her what he said or did. It didn't matter if he was the one with KIZNA badge. She didn't trust humans and the last thing she'd do was let one hold her. If he did still want to help her, perhaps it would've been better to let the Digimon take the lead on this one. There was clearly some unresolved trauma Birdie had involving humans, and the more this man tried to get close to her, the more she'd refuse and fight back. She'd sooner go off on her own and perish in the Shining Sea than let him get close.

Truth be told, Mae didn't have any ulterior motives at all. She just saw a single Fresh in the snow and sought to help get it out of there. She didn't have a inkling of who they were, or what they wanted to do. She did, however, know of the duo/trio that also approached the Puwamon and...kind of just approached the Puwamon a little quicker than Mae herself could. Upon making an actual approach, Mae noted that the human and the sausage-fingered sheep had been present during that clown show that one called Golden Week in the Human World.
"...I don't know if the Puwamon can speak or not. Try not to make any sudden movements, please..." Yeah, Mae didn't really know how to approach a singular lost baby Digimon. Especially one that was irate enough to blow bubbles at people, yikes! She didn't make an effort to approach Birdie proper, but she did try getting a closer look at the Puwamon to see if she wasn't banged up from anything.

While Skadi seemed to have been warmly received by the Puwamon, Kenny... much less so, if their behaviour was anything to go by. At this time, the trio were approached by the friendly Keramon, who suggested not to try and startle the In-Training by mistake. Skadi just turned to the Keramon and smiled, "Don't worry," she tried to reassure the weird looking alien Digimon, "I'm sure Kenny knows what he's doing here. After all, when we first me, he actually managed to handle me gently." It was clear she believed that her tamer's experience was good enough for him to handle the creature, who was now leaning down and gently scooping up the tiny featherball into his hands.
Unfortunately, whereas Skadi as a Mallimon was grateful and affectionate for when Kenny picked her up that faithful day, the Puwamon would react very negatively. Immediately, it sprayed Kenny with a barrage of harmless but annoying bubbles to the face. He flinched in surprise, but his glasses gave him some protection. Skadi and Odin similarly flinched as well from the Puwamon's aggressiveness. Still, Kenny just tightened his grip, trying to make sure they wouldn't escape. The D-3 slipped out of it's tail and fell into the snow, which Skadi grabbed soon after, eyeing it with interest.
"Calm down. We are not going to hurt you. We are your friends here. Ple-" He was suddenly slapped in the face with the Puwamon's sparking tail, forcing him to drop the featherball into the snow as well from the, well... shock, and rub his ailing cheek. Thankfully, In-Training Digimon weren't exactly dangerous, but it still kinda stung a bit. "Ow." Odin and Skadi looked in concern by what happened.
"Hey Kenny," Odin spoke up, "Are you OK, man?"
"I'm fine, just... it's a little hard to not make any sudden movements around a baby when the baby is literally attacking you." He joked, still rubbing his stinging cheek and gazing at the Keramon.
"Seems the Puwamon's a little frustrated about something, though." Skadi added, "But I've no idea what. And they can't even speak properly, so I guess asking them what's the problem is out of the question." She shrugged to the group. That Puwamon had lots of problems in more ways than one.
"Well, guess it's time to me to play bad cop now." Odin reached down with a free claw to grab the Puwamon, tightening it just enough for them not to escape should he had grabbed them, before pulling them up to his face, "That wasn't very nice of you. My friend here was actually trying to help you out and even save you from potential death. What the hell's your problem anyway?" He said, a cross, firm expression on his face and his tone hard. So the Puwamon didn't want to play nice with Kenny. No matter, Odin was ready to take over, and he was making sure the Puwamon knew who they were dealing with, whenever they liked it or not.

The fall into the snow had enough of an impact to wind Birdie in her tiny, Puwamon form, but she recovered in an instant and began glancing around frantically in an attempt to locate the lavender digivice that she had dropped. The trio of higher level Digimon and the human man were all talking among themselves, but their conversation was of little to know interest to her. Birdie had more pressing matters to address. She had only just gotten the digivice back into her possession before ending up in this frozen wasteland, and she'd be damned if she let it slip out of her grasp again. Still, she didn't regret her decision to temporarily let it go in order to zap the human. He needed to learn how to keep his grubby hands to himself.
After a few seconds, she finally spotted it: the digivice! Unfortunately, it was in the Valaismon's hands. Birdie's feathers ruffled again at the realization that her most prized belonging (arguably) was now in the possession of the human's pet. Birdie let out a high pitched, angry chirp and bounced off the ground a few times, demanding the stranger return her digivice immediately. However, her cries seemed to go unheard, perhaps drowned out by the others' conversation. Fine. She'd teach them not to ignore her, one way or another. Just as Birdie leaped toward the sheep Digimon to try attacking, she was snatched out of midair and held at bay. She shifted her attention from the Valaismon to the Peckmon who had the gall to pick her up.
Birdie struggled and made such a horrible screeching sound that someone may have thought she was dying. She wasn't actually dying, the Peckmon's grip wasn't tight enough to do any real harm, but a familiar, red hot anger boiled inside her tiny form. Why was this happening to her!? She'd worked so hard to come this far, only to be reduced to such a small, helpless form! What had she done to deserve this? Okay, she had done plenty to deserve this, but it still didn't seem fair. This kind of stuff happened even when she first hatched in the Village of Beginnings. She could remember some of the rookies stealing her cherished Varodurumon feather and holding it just out of reach, forcing her to beg and jump for it. It was humiliating. And the same thing was happening here.
Larger Digimon were always throwing their weight around, and this was simply more proof that she needed to get stronger by any means necessary. No Digimon, no human, no isolation would make her abandon that life mission. Not now. Not ever. While the Peckmon spoke, lecturing her the same way that blasted Tetsu had done before banishing her to the Shining Sea, Birdie flailed her tail around, doing her best to zap her assailant anywhere she could reach -- his hand, his face, anywhere would work! When the stranger brought her closer, she began trying to peck her tiny "beak" against his much larger one, knowing full well that it wouldn't do any harm but still wanting to let her frustrations be known nevertheless. The screeching suddenly stopped as Birdie exhaled a stream of bubbles again.

The reason why Mae had asked the trio to not make any sudden movements was quite suddenly made clear when the Puwamon delivered one hell of a shock to poor Kenny's hand. "I get that, but still...Poor thing looks terrified..." Mae told Skadi. Wait, why was the Puwamon screeching? The Keramon put some hands to her antennae as she tried to figure out...well, what the heck was going on?
...Wait, yes, the Peckmon!
"Lighten up a little! I seriously think they're just scared! ...Or irate, some babies are like that, I think..." She wasn't really sure how to handle this sort of situation. "Do any of you have food? Maybe they want that!"

Kenny acknowledged the Keramon with a nod as he still rubbed his ailing cheek. "Yeah, honestly, I don't blame them. Suddenly ending up lost and alone without anyone to watch your back can be quite a nightmare, no matter who you are. I honestly couldn't leave them out here to die in a place like this." He admitted sheepishly.
Skadi's ears twitched as the Puwamon let out a high pitched squeal, and as she turned around to see the Puwamon try to attack her, her eyes widened in surprise. Of course, she was planning to return it to them as soon as she could, once she and the group figured out the apparent mystery behind them and the Digivice, but, and who could blame them for jumping to that conclusion, the Puwamon had must have believed that Skadi was trying to steal it. She and Kenny could only watch as Odin grabbed the In-Training as they screeched and whined their way up.
The Puwamon's constant string of zaps were annoying, yes, but to Odin, it was more comparable to throwing pebbles at Godzilla; it wasn't going to stop him easily, if at all. If anything, they were nothing more than a distraction at best. Suddenly, he could feel a string of bubbles rapidly strike at his face; again, nothing that would make him cry out in pain or anything, but the force enough made him tilt his head to avoid getting a direct face full of them. When they stopped, a glare returned to his face and his tone more steely, "Hey! What was that for? I said we were going to help you out, and this is how you repay us? I-"
Before he could get another word out, his attention was quickly snapped up by the Keramon, who was now chewing him out for his attitude, and immediately, his face softened quite a bit, moving the Puwamon quite a bit away from him, slightly loosening his grip to be a lot more gentle, and directly addressing the Rookie level, "I'm sorry, I don't know what went over me just then. Guess I really don't like to see my friends getting spat on for trying to help them out."
"But the Keramon does have a point." Kenny approached Odin, placing a hand on his shoulder, "People do make rash, sometimes arguably dumb, decisions when scared. I don't think the Puwamon here is actively malicious or anything; just blinded by sheer panic. I think we should calm it down as soon as possible." Like Odin before him, he also turned to the Keramon, "You have any suggestions?"
Of course! Food! Why didn't they think of that earlier? "Oh, I do think I have something nice I could give it. Thanks, man." Kenny said as he reached for his Infini-Store and pulled out a tuna onigiri, still freshly wrapped inside of it's packet, nice and cool. As he unwrapped the packet, he turned back to Odin, adding, "Odin, can you put the Puwamon back onto the ground please?" The Peckmon complied, gently putting the In-Training Digimon back onto the floor.
Then, Kenny got down on one knee, and brought the onigiri in front of the Puwamon's face, with a reassuring smile on his. "Look, we got you some food, buddy. It's OK, like we said, we're not going to hurt you. Please, trust us." Was it going to work? Well, only God, Buddha and Arceus knew for sure, but thanks to the Keramon's suggestions, the group would try to take a more gentler approach to get it to take their side.
All the while, Skadi still investigated the Digivice in her hands. She opted to ask the Puwamon as soon as possible, once it had calmed down and worked with the group, about what happened to them, their tamer, and who - or what - caused them to end up in the sorry state in the first place. It wasn't like she was planning to keep it, but to her, it was a vital clue that could possibly tell her just what happened to the poor creature.

Birdie made a mental note that the Keramon was going to be her saving grace in this entire encounter. The human and his pets enjoyed picking on helpless Digimon, but not the Keramon. She was kind and thoughtful, speaking on behalf of what Birdie had been thinking. When the Peckmon was scolded by the Keramon for handling the Puwamon too roughly, Birdie felt the firm grip on her body loosen. Although she hated the idea of having allies, this Keramon would be a valuable one in the meantime. If only there was a way she could express need for the digivice. Man, it'd be hilarious to see the Keramon and the Valaismon fighting over it. Not to mention the fact that the data from their fight probably would've been enough to help Birdie evolve again.
Birdie swished her tail, sparks flying from the feather at the end as she did, and listened to the Peckmon apologize. He said something sappy about being protective over his friends, and it took all of Birdie's willpower not to roll her eyes in annoyance. Friends. What kind of cliche bullshit was that? Friends didn't exist. Pawns, tools, a means to an end -- those things were real. Nothing disgusted Birdie more than when Digimon referred to humans as their "friends." Humans by themselves were a waste of space. Humans with digivices at least had their perks of being able to help Digimon get stronger; but, even then, that didn't make them equals. That didn't make them "friends." Saying so aloud was the catalyst for her banishment to the Shining Sea in the first place.
But as much as Birdie wanted to let her disapproval show, she bit it back. Everyone seemed to be in agreement that she was acting out in fear rather than any maliciousness. Oh, now that was really funny. If only they knew how badly she wanted to kill all the Digimon here and absorb their data, saving the human for last so that he could watch his precious "friends" get destroyed by the very Digimon he'd been so eager to help. Sure, she knew she was vile, devious, and malicious. She'd been told that for as long as she could remember. That realization didn't silence the rage and hatred boiling inside her at all times, though.
The group discussed what might help the Puwamon calm down, and the Keramon suggested food. As Birdie was placed back on the ground, she had a decision to make: accept the food that the human was offering to her or go for the digivice again. She was stationary for a long moment as she weighed the pros and cons of each option. If she went with the former and took the rice balls, she'd be accepting the help of a human. By taking the food, she would be telling him that she trusted him. She didn't. On the other hand, she needed to regain her strength if she was going to turn back to a Biyomon, something that could've been helped with some food in her belly.
But what if she ignored the food and went straight for the digivice? She'd likely be stopped and scolded again for trying to attack the Peckmon's "friend." She didn't stand a chance against higher level Digimon in her current state, but if she caused enough of a disturbance then the Keramon probably would've raced to her rescue. Birdie just needed to make it obvious that she wouldn't accept any other help until her demands were met. Perhaps the most important question to answer in deciding what to do was, "Which is more urgent? Food of the digivice?" Birdie wasn't hungry, so she didn't exactly need the food right now. The digivice, on the other hand... there was a residual fear that the Valaismon would never return it to Birdie or would leave with it.
Digivice first, food second, she decided. The moment the human asked for Birdie to trust him, she leaped up, spun around, and smacked his other cheek with her electrified tail. Without hesitating a single moment, she hurriedly hopped over to the Keramon, hiding behind the lanky creature's tendrils for protection. Once she felt safe, she turned her attention to the Valaismon and began chirping rather aggressively, pausing on occasion to look up at the Keramon and see if she was picking up on what Birdie was trying to convey. Digivice first, food second, she reminded herself as a frigged gust whipped through her tiny body and caused her to shutter.

The feeling of being alone and defenseless was one that Mae could not empathize with more. "It's alright, just...I don't think that's the right thing to do to a baby." She spoke towards Odin. "Yes, yes, just...put them down, let them calm themselves a bit and that...should do it?" Caretaking for babies was hard. Mae was definitely hoping that this was something she wouldn't have to repeat anytime soon.
Except...
The Puwamon did not go for the food whatsoever. Instead, it hopped behind her tendrils and started to squawk at Skadi! This, was now thoroughly confusing for Mae. She didn't speak bird. At all. "I...What's wrong?" She asked the Puwamon, as though that'd help her understand this predicament.
Seriously, they were only trying to feed her!

While Skadi was still investigating the Digivice, Kenny and Odin were watching the Puwamon closely, as the former held the onigiri in front of them. For a good long while, the bird-like creature, ready to lash out at the drop of a hat, just sat there, doing nothing. Were they nervous? Scared? The young man couldn't blame them; he did accidentally scare them earlier by picking them off the ground.
However, the moment he asked the Puwamon to trust him, the In-Training made their answer clear, as quickly, he felt a harmless yet nasty sting on his cheeks once again, courtesy of the critter. Still clutching the onigiri in his palms, Kenny winced, letting out a meek "Owwwww..." as the In-Training bounced away from him. "So much for trying to reassure them." He muttered under his breath, "Geeze, I've had dental procedures less painful than this, man." They just couldn't win.
As the Puwamon started to hide themselves behind the Keramon's countless tentacles, much to the confusion of the alien-like creature, Odin scratched his chin for a moment, before explaining, "I'm starting to think Puwamon here hates humans."
"Can't say I don't blame them." Kenny added, his eyes still glancing at the Puwamon, "I remember when Archnemon and her cronies attacked the human world back in Golden Week because of their grudge against humans. Maybe their tamer just abandoned them here and left them to die. Skadi, you found anything so far?"
Still holding the Digivice in her palms, Skadi was about to respond, but was quickly interrupted by the loud chirping of the Puwamon, grabbing her attention just as fast. She got down on one leg, down to the Puwamon's level so she could talk to them properly.
"Hey, is this about your Digivice? I think you must have dropped it earlier. We were just trying to find out what happened to you, that's why I picked up your Digivice to investigate it. I'm gonna give it back to you as soon as possible, but we really need you to work with us here. Can you please tell us what happened to you and your tamer?" She coerced the little In-Training, hoping to get them to get on their side.
Suddenly, a cold wind blew throughout the area, making the Puwamon shiver once more. A sympathetic glance crossed the Valaismon as she started to shake her body, summoning a bunch of cotton wool to wrap around the open parts of the Puwamon, colluding and combining with one another. But in this case, it was not to slow them down or hinder their movements, rather, it was to help stop their shivering, by giving them the closest thing to a cozy blanket they had on them.
"Does that feel better, pal?" She smiled at them, before reaching out to gently stroke their head. Despite all the shit the meek Digimon gave them, they were still willing to put their feeling aside to help them. Kenny still held the rice ball, ready to hand it over to the Puwamon when good and ready.

Birdie did hate humans. The Peckmon was right about that. There were a number of reasons why Birdie hated them. They were strange, weak creatures who couldn't even evolve. They "tamed" Digimon and turned them into brain-dead pets. They thought they were better just because it was their technology that brought the digital world to existence. They were traitorous and over-emotional. Then the man began to speak, recounting a time when an Archnemon and her followers attacked the human world during something called "Golden Week." This Archnemon may have been onto something, attacking humans where they lived.
The Keramon looked down at Birdie in puzzlement and asked what was wrong, a question which only infuriated the small Puwamon more. Okay, so maybe she wasn't as clever as Birdie had previously thought. The human theorized that Birdie's tamer had abandoned her, leaving her to die in the frigid wasteland. What an idiot! Why did he think that was why she was out here? First and foremost, Unica wasn't a "tamer," she was just a meat-bag that was capable of activating Birdie's digivice. Secondly, Unica didn't abandon her. Unica's friend was the one who abandoned her, banishing her to this horrible place.
But Unica did sit by and watched it happen... Oh, no... Birdie's eyes widened and her squawking ceased as a new hatred emerged within her. That bitch! She knew Unica was an annoying crybaby, but to think that this whole thing had been the girl's plan all along..! Fuck Tetsu! Fuck Unica! Humans were the absolute worst! Birdie was seeing red. She wasn't thinking clearly. She was beyond reason, and if she had enough strength to digivolve, she probably would've turned into something beastly and mindless. And yet, she remained silent, zoning out and letting her mind linger on the worst possible thoughts until the Valaismon knelt down, displaying the digivice in her hands.
Birdie snapped out of whatever trance was in, blinking a few times as her gaze fixated on the device. She swallowed her anger and chirped in response to the goat-sheep's question about whether this refusal to accept help was because she wanted her digivice. Well, that was part of the reason, but Birdie couldn't exactly get into the details in her current state. The Valaismon continued, explaining how she had picked up the digivice when Birdie dropped it and was trying to use it to learn something about the Puwamon's situation.
There wasn't much to glean from the digivice itself. It was well-kept and largely undamaged. The shades of light purple and white could've been perceived as a stereotypical color-combination indicative of Birdie's partner's gender, or it could've been a play off of Birdie's own Biyomon color scheme, or perhaps it was more symbolic and the soft pastel purple indicated a child tamer. Maybe it was all of the above, or none at all. The screen refused to turn on in the hands of anyone other than Unica, and especially not in the hands of a fellow Digimon. The dango phone charm hooked on the antennae was the only real indicator of who Birdie's human partner was. Each plastic dumpling had a tiny smile painted on them -- okay, so Birdie's tamer liked cute things.
All these were dead-ends. The group needed Birdie's cooperation if they were to learn what happened here, a fact that the Valaismon realized and verbalized. She asked if the Puwamon would tell them what happened to her and her tamer, and Birdie replied with another chirp and a bounce. She would, if she could. She needed food and shelter to recover enough strength to evolve and speak. But she wouldn't accept help until she got her digivice back. And she wouldn't get her digivice back until she explained herself. It was a vicious cycle. Ugh! She just couldn't win!
Birdie hardly even noticed how severely she was shivering until the Valaismon began to shutter too, summoning piles of fluffy wool as she did. Reluctantly, the goat-sheep placed the cotton around Birdie's tiny form, warming her in an instant and causing her ruffled feathers to lay flat for the first time since everyone had arrived. It felt nice. It was comforting It was... confusing. Why were these people being so nice, so friendly, and so compensating? Why weren't they being more like that blasted Tetsu? They should've been scolding her, mocking her, making her feel helpless.
...Why did she want to cry so desperately?
This confusion and sense of vulnerability frustrated Birdie, causing her to glare, ruffle her feather, and shake off the wool. She didn't need their pity! She didn't need this! Everyone was out to get her, that was the truth! It was an eat-or-be-eaten world, and these people were just looking to trick her into a false sense of security! They were going to lower her defenses then strike! Electricity surged in Birdie's tail as she prepared to defend herself. Her vision blurred momentarily, but she shook her head and blinked a couple times until things cleared again. Within a matter of seconds, she whipped her tail at the Valaismon, zapping the outstretch hand that was trying to pat the top of her head.
The moment her tail connected with the stranger's hand, Birdie experienced an intense sense of vertigo. Everything felt like it was falling away from her, twisting and turning around her field of vision as it did. She blinked and slowly shook her head, trying to rid the feeling, but nothing helped. She was pushing herself too far. If she kept using Fuwa Feather like this, she'd end up passing out. Birdie stared at a random spot in the snow in front of her as she waited for the wave of dizziness to pass. She wanted to run away, to get as far away from these jerks as possible, but she couldn't. She wouldn't survive on her own, she needed that digivice back, and she was far too weak to do anything without help.

Mae didn't blame the Puwamon for hating people. She kind of knew how that felt. "I think this might go a little deeper than what happened during Golden Week..." The Keramon murmured as she moved a little closer to inspect the Digivice. "...This kind of...reminds me of something a kid would lug around."
Which was probably indicative of this Puwamon's partner. Mae glanced towards Skadi and Birdie, nodding in approval. "Keeping her warm's probably the best thing to do in the cold. I don't know if Puwamon are made to be resistant to the northern winds or not...So, best to be careful. And try not to scare her too much, of course."
Felt like she was repeating herself way too much here. The Keramon carefully picked up the Digivice and moved to set it next to the (tired) Puwamon. "Calm down, please. We can't help you if you keep trying to zap everyone..."

From what she could find on the Puwamon's Digivice, Skadi only managed to pick up on small but noticeable detail on it: the dango phone charm. Everything else looked like a perfectly normal, nearly undamaged D-3. She turned her head to the approaching Keramon commenting on the Digivice, "Yeah, it honestly does look like the Puwamon's tamer's a young kid. Gotta admit, the little dango key chain is pretty cute though." She said, lightly flicking at it.
Needless to say, Skadi's promise to return the Digivice to the Puwamon in exchange for their help was seemingly met with a more positive reception, putting a more hopeful smile on the three's faces, and the subsequent doses of cotton on the Puwamon's body had managed to calm it down, if only for a brief moment, much to the approval of the Keramon, "We won't, Keramon! Don't worry." Skadi nodded in acknowledgement.
But however, while the cotton did calm down and warm up the Puwamon for a little bit, it was only a mere reprieve. The Valaismon gave out a surprised bleat as the Puwamon hit her with their electrified tail once again, the shock forcing her to drop the Digivice right into the snow, as Kenny ran up to his partner, asking "Skadi! You OK?"
"I'm OK, Kenny." She reassured him, as she rubbed her hand, "I think the Puwamon just got scared again, is all." Again, it wasn't going to leave much of a mark, if anything, but after quickly recovering from the shock (ha), she, alongside Kenny and Odin, noticed the Puwamon starting to feel faint, before turning their attention back to the Keramon, who didn't hesitate to give the Digivice back to the In-Training before asking them to calm down.
Nobody dared take the Digivice again, rather, Kenny and Skadi gave a knowing smile to the Keramon before focusing more on the Puwamon once again, Skadi, leaning down, spoke up first, "See, we told you we'd return your Digivice, Puwamon. But the Keramon's right, you're going to exhaust yourself if you keep attacking us, and we're just trying to help you out. We really need you to work with us, otherwise we can't help you get back to normal." She firmly but gently explained to the Puwamon. They knew yelling at her wasn't going to work, but they needed to get the In-Training to work with them.
Kenny, leaning down once more and still carrying the tuna onigiri in his hand, also gave a friendly smile and demeanour to the Puwamon, "Here. Sorry about way earlier, but I think you really need to eat first before we can continue. You do seem pretty exhausted already, so maybe this will help?" He said, putting the onigiri to her face once again. Odin, a bit afar, nodded to the Puwamon in agreement. Despite all the trouble they endured so far, all 4 people here were holding out an olive branch, dedicated to helping the feathery creature as much as they could.
