As Amelie gave her rather helpful explanations, Honoka did her best to scratch down some notes as she spoke. When Amelie finished, she closed the notebook and briefly bowed her head in gratitude. She didn't dare ask any follow-up questions - the young woman was being far too generous to a person like Honoka as it was. But she had a few more ideas where to go from here.
She said that gaining more spirits weren't the only way to gain more power, but they were still a way nonetheless. It was clear from her brief bout with Fugamon that her strongest spirit, Lili, just wasn't enough. She thought she had the upper hand in the fight, but she got overconfident and paid the price for it. Well... someone else paid the price for it, really... And Honoka might as well be at fault for it. She had already awoken one new spirit, Lulu, but she wasn't sure how reliable she could be if the first thing she did was possess her body. Though... if she hadn't Honoka would likely still be in bed, still grieving from the day prior.
And she lacked combat experience as well. Honoka was confident in her athleticism, but dancing and gymnastics were a far cry from actual combat. It most her body could tell her to do was avoid attacks. She would need to work on that somehow... though she would still have to find a way that would work for her.
And as for the issue with DATS and wild Digimon roaming throughout Shibuya, she had to wonder about what was the moral thing to do in that regard. "I understand that Digimon can be dangerous, but I feel like pretending that they don't exist isn't the right way to go about it, either. I probably don't have the right to say this, but ignoring an issue isn't ever going to make it any better..." It was a complicated mess, and something that Honoka wasn't sure she could think up a solution for. She looked over towards Odette for a second. Come to think of it, she had no idea what kind of Digimon she was. What she truly looked like. "I don't think it's very fair that a Digimon has to pretend to be something they're not just to get around, though... I guess Digimon don't really place as much value on their appearance, since their bodies change so drastically throughout their lifetimes, I suppose..."
But something that Odette said bothered her a little. Chosen... Why exactly was someone like Honoka... chosen? There must have been plenty of people in Shibuya that were smarter, stronger, more affluent, or outright had more free time to be the cog in the machine of whatever cosmic being that handed these devices out to people. Assuming that it wasn't just some massive coincidence, admittedly. Her Digivice did hit her over the head, after all. Honoka knew she could be hard-headed at times, but she can't really imagine fate having a sense of humor. Maybe one day, she would find some more answers of a cosmic design.
But that was all for the future. Right now, there were still people around her. A more-than-helpful, ancient and wise young woman, and an adorable little girl, alien or otherwise. She took one more look at her notebook before stuffing it into her bag. They were rather short-handed, but she left some space open so she could elaborate on them from memory when she had the free time...
Oh no, the time! She was missing school big time! She didn't like the idea of imposing on her even further, but Honoka was rather desperate at this point. "Umm... Amelie-san... I know that I refused earlier, but you said that you had a car, correct? Perhaps... would you like to..." Argh! Why did her throat clog up every time she tried to ask for help!?
Hey... wow... we're in some serious pain right now all of a sudden... what the hell is going on here?
"You've already done so much and it really pains me to ask another favor, but would you be willing to give me a ride to school? It seems like Odette-chan is interested as well, and if you perhaps have the free time..." By the end of her sentence, her voice weakened into a barely audible mumble.
Seriously. What the hell is wrong with you!?
