WHAT CAME BEFORE
- Unica is born in South Carolina, United States of America to a single mother who works multiple jobs as a means to help provide for their ramshackle apartment and enough food for them both. Unica spends most of her infancy under the care of her grandparents — Maria’s own mother and father.
- When Unica is three, her mother begins dating a man named Shouta Nakada who had immigrated to the United States with a work visa. The couple instantly hit it off and it didn’t take long for Maria to begin bringing Shouta to the house. As such, Unica became accustomed to Shouta’s presence and began to call him “dad.”
- When Unica is four, Shouta is contacted by a friend in Japan who talks about of odd electrical interference that is affecting greater Tokyo region. He explains that many companies are offering hefty rewards for engineers and technicians who can help fortify their technology against these “cyber attacks.” After doing some research and discussing the logistics with Maria, the couple (with Unica) decide to move to Japan together.
- As the Digital World continues to grow and became steadily more prevalent in the human world, Birdie hatches in the Village of Beginnings. She has little to no memory of her previous life but a subconscious rage and power-lust follows her well into her second life.
- When Unica turns six, she starts attending school at the Shibuya Campuses. She picks up the Japanese language quickly and makes many friends. Though many children walk to and from school on their own, Maria makes a habit of walking to the school and riding the subway with Unica.
- Birdie wanders the Eastern Timberlands for a while, training at the Spartan Training Grounds and on her own in the forest until she finally reaches her rookie form. She immediately heads to The Digital Core where she takes up residence and takes part in arena brawls. Each loss fills her with even more anger and frustration.
THE STORY BEGINS
- When Unica is seven, she obtains her digivice.
- Acquaintances: On her way to school one day, the digivice in Unica's backpack activates, opening up a portal to the digital world in the process. Unica vanishes in an instance and when she comes to, she's finds herself in the middle of a large desert. With the help of some friends she meets along the way, Unica finds her partner--a Biyomon she names Birdie--and manages to get home safely.
- Bird and Rabbit: After dropping Unica off in the human world, Coolmon returns to the digital world and wanders to Old Terminus where she is confronted by Birdie. Though Coolmon tries to show Birdie kindness and hospitility, Birdie returns the favor by stealing her phone and deleting all the personal content from it. Coolmon retaliates and takes the phone back.
- Larger-Than-Pockets-Could-Be Dragon: Unica goes to the park with mother and stumbles upon a strange Digimon, napping in the bushes. Unica shares her lunch with him and they play on the playground equipment. Things quickly escalate when passersby spot Monodramon, and he leaves in a hurry when Unica's mom panics at the sight.
- Washed Up on the Beach... Resort: While pressing buttons, Unica learns how to create portals using her digivice. She manages to create one and, without any hesitation or caution, she steps through and ends up at Whitewater City. While there, she meets the tamers Yuko and Katsura and the Digimon Jokermon and Nyao.
- Bird in the Big City: Unica follows Katsura to Terminus City in search of Birdie. While there, she meets Duffer and Kotemon, two people who aid in the manhunt. After growing bored and wandering away, Unica finds herself in Old Terminus where she finally reunites with her partner.

She downloads part of his data before being stopped by onlookers. Birdie flees before she can receive punishment, and Unica is given the opportunity to stay with Dinohumon for some time.
- Run Away: Birdie escapes from the Spartan Training Grounds, but not before Dinohumon pierces her left wing with one of his arrows. However, Birdie awakens the next morning to find the stranger gone.

- Reunion: Unica hears rumors of a hostile Digimon that has been terrorizing the Network Planes. Wondering if the violent Digimon in question is Birdie, Unica leaves the confines of the Spartan Training Grounds and teleports to her destination to find Birdie a Vilemon -- a spawn of the infamous Demon Lords -- and losing. Seeing this, Unica's digivice comes to life, transforming Birdie into a Harpymon and giving her just enough strength to defeat her rival. As a result, Birdie realizes how valuable the digivice is and decides to partner up with Unica once again.
TURNING POINT
- Lost Treasures: While making their way through Terminus City, Unica and Birdie realize that the digivice is missing. The duo enlist Tetsu and Gryz' help in searching for it. However, after Birdie attacks multiple people along the way, Tetsu and Gryz banish her to the Northern Prominence in order to "teach her a lesson," separating Unica from her partner and digivice in the process.
- Turned Tables: Birdie wakes up in the Northern Prominence, having been reduced to her Puwamon form. She slowly begins making her way back to Terminus City, but ends up encountering Mae, Kenny, Skadi, and Odin. They agree to help by bringing her to the Ancient City of Ys. However, the magical barrier protecting the city from dangerous outsiders expels Birdie and refuses to let her in.
