Once more Lilly and her employees found herself here, in this building. The others were backstage, but Lilly, a rotund, pink Guilmon with short red hair, a brown dress, and an apron, was walking out to the stage, giving the applauding audience a large toothy smile. She was giddy with anticipation for what the contestants would make today. But she kept herself composed. She had a show to host!
"First of all, thank you for coming! I am deeply greatful for your attendance. My name is Lilly, host for my little competition Sweet Genius! Here we have a few hopeful chefs that will come up here and display their skills in the creation of fine, inventive desserts! But after two rounds, one will be deemed as Sweet Genius! All our contestants will be rewarded, though. This may be a competition, but more than anything I want you all to have fun and enjoy yourselves!"
Around her were several cooking stations. Everything one needed to make any dessert was here. Ample room, clean and solid blacks and silvers, all sorts of utensils... it was all a chef could ask for. The audience was obviously eager to see the competition start as well, cheering and clapping.
"Now, before we begin, I'd like the contestants to introduce themselves! Come on down you guys!"
She waved the contestants over with a clawed hand, microphone in the other hand to let the others speak into it.

The duo had never, in a million years, thought that they’d enter a cooking contest. Of all the kinds of competitions and odd jobs out there, a culinary cook-off was the last thing either of them would think of doing. However, the thing was that this one paid nicely. Really nicely. Graedon, being the little thug he was, just couldn’t resist the sum. Greed blinded him, and he didn’t care if he had to rip off someone’s head, or make a pretty pink cupcake that was sweeter than pixie dust; he was doing it.
The bear had managed to infect Everett with his excitement. As hard as it was, the digimon even convinced his tamer of doing the actual cooking portion, a task which he never thought possible. Reasonably though, Graedon had never even touched cookware. Being a free spirited digimon who survived off of the fruits of the digital world, and of course, his partner’s delectable golden brown liquor dubbed as whiskey. In truth though, Everett didn’t mind, for all the tasks he’d faced so far in this digital land, this seemed like the calmest. Not to say it’d be a breeze, but at least their lives weren’t on the line.
Everett wasn’t exactly a master chef back in the human world. Being a lawyer, he didn’t really have the time to cook. But back in the day when his brother was still around, he would sometimes need to feed him. Rett had learned a couple of tricks when he cared for his younger sibling, and even when he was in college, so he was confident that he would stand a chance.
Stepping into the spotlight on cue, the tall man gave a wave to the crowd, walking up to the hostess with a slightly cocky grin. ”Oh, thanks for hosting the show sweet cheeks, it’ll be fun.” he charmed, sending a wink at the pink Guilmon. ”The name’s Everett Blackwood, and I’m here to make you a delicious dessert!” With that, the lawyer removed his blazer and tie, placing them on a nearby counter. He rolled up his sleeves and reached for an apron, promptly swinging it over his neck as he prepared to start the contest. Somewhere in the audience, Graedon was surely laughing his head off at his tamer’s performance. But, if it got them the prize, then what did it matter? They were here to win, after all; even if that meant wearing an apron in public.

As the spotlight pointed to an empty space of the stage, a somewhat young girl appeared on the stage, greeting the audience with a radiant smile and cheerful waves of her hand as she approached the pink Guilmon.
Mana just found funny the way she had been enrolled in this contest. Her brother was originally the one who was meant to participate, but, as she arrived home yesterday he told her something about he was just too tired to attend and needed rest, and, of course, if she wanted to go to this "Cooking Contest" in his stead. At first, she thought it was a bad joke, it wasn't unknown to him the fact that her cooking was just awful, but then, he revealed that it wasn't a cooking contest per say, but a dessert making one. Granted, if an oven, a stove or even a steamer was involved she would most likely screw up, but she was actually pretty good at making cold desserts due to her aforementioned sibling's disdain for sweet flavors. So, as she approached the microphone, she silently prayed that no actual cooking was involved.
"Thank you for the warm welcome, Lilly-san! My name's Tsumura Mana and I hope you all will find my desserts as good as I think they are!" She smiled and waved again at the crowd, finding Ayaka in one of the front seats, silently cheering for her. She then went to the counter where the towering guy with the suit had left the clothes he wouldn't need and did the same. She took off her hoodie and the spare jacket she had brought and carefully left them there. She went for a spare apron and a hairnet and put both on. Alright, she was ready now.
As she waited for the contest to begin, she approached Everett and decided to be a little friendly with her fellow contestant.
"Hello, Everett-san" she greeted him "Hope you enjoy the contest. I know I will"

Shortmon was excited about this contest. Jackson and him had debated on who would compete, and Shortmon won. He was a talking dessert after all. He was slightly nervous however. He had no clue on the experience level of the rest of the competitors. But for now he wouldn't worry about it, and instead the digimon would focus on what he was making for the judge, or judges.
The digimon walked into the spotlight and gave a wave to the audience. Of course he had to say something. Shortmon wasn't a fan of speaking, but he said something anyway.
"Thank you, I'm ready to make some desserts, I hope you're ready to taste them." Shortmon then made his way towards his cooking station. He looked around at what he had while he tied his apron on. He saw the two other contestants conversing, but didn't go over to say anything. Shortmon just walked around his station, trying to get familiar with where everything was. Especially the necessities, like pots, pans, and utensils.

Jimmy waited patiently as he watched the other's introduce themselves. Unlike them, this wasn't exactly Jimmy's first time through this. He had a good idea of what to expect in this competition and even managed to win the first match he was apart of. Yet, that victory was sadly a hollow one because of several situations out of his control. That's why when he heard that there was going to be another competition, he signed up for it.
As he turned to go on stage, Jimmy took a deep breath and walked under the lone spotlight. "Hello everyone. I'm Jimmy Coulton, and it's nice to be here again. I hope you all enjoy what I'm going to whip up." Jimmy introduced himself with a smile and a wave. As he gazed into the crowd, he soon found his companion Shin sitting in the third row, as it seemed the Hawkmon wasn't exactly excited about being.
Jimmy then moved away from the spotlight as he headed to where the other competitors were at. He gave them a small smile as he put on the last apron. "Hey everyone. Good luck out there. Okay." He said to them as he hoped his earlier statement about returning to this competition didn't deter them any. He wanted this to be the fun and friendly competition that it's suppose to be.

"Alright, now that everyone has introduced themselves, everyone should take this chance to get acquainted with where everything is. Don't want to forget where the wax paper is, you know."
She paused for a moment to allow the contestants time to look around before they would return to their spots.
"You have at your fingertips practically everything you'd need to make a dessert. Now, here's a reminder for everyone as to how this works. You four will be given a set time limit to make your dessert based on a theme of my choice. During the round, I will introduce required ingredients to... 'spice things up'. When the time ends, everyone must bring their desserts up to me. I will then judge the contestants and decide who goes to the next round. Remember, be imaginative!"
Pausing for a moment, the Guilmon began to speak of something else, seemingly unrelated to the contest.
"Looks like all the contestants here are part of a pair. Personally, I've nothing against the concept of humans and digimon working together. As long as there is mutual respect, you know? Someone like me could not fully understand the bond but, hey, I'm a busy girl with a restaurant.
Still, I don't mind hearing people talk about their bonds. In fact... I wouldn't mind seeing how would translate it to food.
This rounds theme is make a dessert that symbolizes the bond you have with your partner! What feeling, what emotion, what desire makes you two stand each other long enough to reach a common goal? You have 35 minutes, starting now!"
(((The next post will be over the span of 15 minutes, after that I will have Lilly introduce the secret required ingredient for this round. After that, the next post will be another 15 minutes, then Lilly will announce the 5 minute warning, leading to the final post of the round being the last 5 minutes.)))

Everett scrutinized his opponents as they each strode into the spotlight, some forcing out and introduction whilst others casually said hello. His eyes, shielded by his darkened specs, ran their way up and down each contestant trying to peg their strengths and weaknesses. Though the lawyer had to remind himself that this was not a traditional competition; his strategy would have nothing to do with his foes, rather, his success would be entirely in his own power.
One of the contestants, a rather short girl, came up to him as he prepared to compete. She introduced herself with enthusiasm and kindness in her voice, how cute. Everett wasn’t accustomed to being approached so softly, most of the time there was tension or dispute involved. Once again however, he reminded himself that this was a different sort of battle field. ”Oh you bet I will, sweet cheeks.” he responded cockily albeit in a friendly manner. ”You go make yourself a pretty little pastry eh? May the best baker win.” he send her a wink and a quick smirk, then turned to look at the host.
Lilly began to speak, explaining the rules of the competition. She mentioned the bond between tamers and partners, and then the clock began to tick. What, a bond? Him and Graedon just about killed each other every day! Well, that was a bit much, of course. They bantered, they bickered, but it was always with comedy. There hadn’t been a genuine fight as of yet; some scrums, some pushing around, but always with laughter. They had a pretty twisted relationship, but always sweet in the end. Suddenly, the man had the perfect idea.
What better delectable dessert to represent this kind of bond than angel wings? Two strips of crispy, deep-fried egg batter, carefully twisted together just right so the doughy spirals entwined with each other, bonding together when things got heated to create the perfect snack. As if that wasn’t enough, there was another secret little ingredient, much like in their own partnership; a hint of whiskey to perfect the flavor, to perfect the relationship between the ingredients. The zing would give a subtle burst of taste and flare! With them, when things got stale, they would bring out the flask and sip on it together, introducing a little punch to their daily lives. Topping the entire recipe off was a coat of icing sugar, an ideal garnish to represent them at the end of any day. Despite the twisting, the heated situations, the whiskey, there would always be that refreshing sweetness on top.
With that, the man set to work. If he recalled correctly, whenever his European friends prepared these around Christmas back in the day, they would only need about half an hour to make. Reaching for all his supplies, he pulled out a small bowl, medium bowl, measuring spoons, a knife, oil, a whisk, a box of eggs, icing sugar, a shaker full of salt, flour, and lastly, a 2/6 of Jack Daniel’s whiskey. First of all, as to be smart with his given time limit, Rett set the oil to heat to 375 degrees F. He cracked open half a dozen eggs, began separating the egg whites into the small bowl and the yolks into the medium bowl. Whisking the yolks together, he then added a cup of flour and began kneading it in. The dough proved a little sticky, so the man added a fourth of a cup of dough to soften it up, and it did the trick.
Everett then floured the counter top lightly. He began kneading the dough , periodically sprinkling it with vanilla and whiskey, carefully measuring each amount as not to over-do it. He needed to get this right. Remembering that he would still need to add a secret ingredient, he made sure to leave room for the extra flavor, whatever it may be.

Mana regarded the competition, giving them a warm smile to whoever looked at her. Everyone seemed to be nice so far and that only improved her disposition to participate. As she heard Lilly speak about the rules of the contest, her mind began working. So they had at most thirty five minutes to make a dessert and then, somewhere during that period, Lilly would introduce a secret ingredient they had to incorporate into the dessert. And the theme, it had to somehow symbolize the bond between tamer and partner. She began to think, it had to be something she could make fast and that symbolized her partnership with Ayaka. There it was! She would make her ever-changing dessert! She hurried to where supplies were and pulled a medium-sized oblong baking dish, two medium-sized bowls, a grater, a juicer, a mixing spoon, one bottle of milk and one of cream, a can of condensed milk, a pack of vainilla biscuits, six lemons and some chocolate. With everything on her workspace, she arranged the biscuits in the baking dish and soaked them in milk and set them aside. It’ll take a while until they were soft. Grabbing one of the bowls, she grated three of the lemons’ peel, squeezed two lemons and mixed the lemon juice and the grated peels with the cream and the condensed milk and began mixing all the ingredients with the spoon until she was satisfied with its consistency. As she waited for the biscuits to soften, she had another idea and prepared an identical mixture sans the lemon juice and the peels. She figured that if the lemon’s flavour clashed with Lilly’s secret ingredient, she could salvage some time by adding it to the lemonless mixture instead of starting up again… that’s why she hadn’t named this dessert yet, and it was also the reason why she thought it exemplified her relationship with Ayaka. The vainillas alone were rather bland, and the mixture lacked consistency, but when they worked together, they could adapt to almost any flavor with great results. Just as the both of them could adapt to almost any difficult situation as long as they worked together. OOC: These are the Vainillas. Here they are a really popular thing for making desserts. Also, this dessert is a family recipe, that's why it's unnamed as of yet xD. @nox: They're called Palmeritas here, and they're awesome!

Shortmon listened to the Guilmons words carefully. When she said bond, he had a million different things going through his mind. What dessert described the duo's relationship, but is still something new and unexpected. An idea popped into his mind, but he worried about it being too safe for the first round. Shortmon then decided on making cheesecake stuffed inside large strawberries, each with various flavors and colors. Just like their bond, there were a multitude of things that created it. But he wanted to add something else to it. Something that would make it pop out.
Worrying about the first part, Shortmon went to work and grabbed a large bowl and a few small bowls. In the large bowl, he added 16 ounces of cream cheese, not really sure if he would actually use it all. With the cream cheese, Shortmon added in sugar and vanilla extract. With a spatula, Shortmon mixed the ingredients together thoroughly and dipped a finger into the mixture to taste it. Luckily nothing overpowered the mix and turned out the way he wanted it to.
"Now what flavors do I want?" Shortmon tossed around a few ideas as he filled with smaller bowls with what he had created. With the colors, flavors, and toppings decided he grabbed blue, green, and pink food coloring and set them to the side. For the flavors, he grabbed blueberries, raspberries, lime, and five large strawberries. He would have to set one strawberry and bowl of mixture off to the side for the secret ingredient.
"Hope this is enough..." He whispered to himself. Shortmon expected cookies and cakes from the others, so hopefully his would be totally different.

Jimmy bit his bottom lip as he listened to what the first challenge was going to be. This was going to be difficult. Unlike the other competitors, Jimmy was a Spirit User and didn't have a partner in the same way they did. No. The cloest he had to that was Shin. Yet that now beg the question what exactly there bond was, and how Jimmy could possibly represent this in dessert.
As he walked over to his cooking station thinking over his options, he had an amazing idea. Why not make something that Shin had taught him? There were quite a few desserts that the Hawkmon had taught him to make, and one instantly came in mind. Digifruit Soufflé. A bittersweet soufflé that was among some of Shin's favorites. It'd be perfect for this challenge, and hopefully flexible enough that he'll be able to add the secret once it was told to them.
First thing first, Jimmy grabbed a pot and filled it with about 2 cups of water before putting it on the stove to boil. Jimmy then began to look through the selection of fruits he had available to him. He couldn't remember what exactly the fruit was called, but did recognize the shape and color of it. Once he found where the fruits he was looking for was being held, he carefully checked the ripeness of the fruit before putting it on a cutting board. Then, after drawing a sharp knife, he began peeling and cutting the fruit into bite size pieces, carefully removing the rinds as he did so. Once he had finished cutting fruit, he noticed the water was boiling. He reduced the heat to a shimmer before adding the chopped up fruit in.
As the fruit simmered, Jimmy preheated the oven before grabbing a large bowl, a mixer, a bag of sugar, and some vanilla extract. He wouldn't need these quite yet, but wanted to be prepared when he did. His efforts focused on the fruit as he carefully stired them to ensure they that cooked properly and didn't burn. It wouldn't be long now before they were prepared.
((Sorry for the wait. I wanted to do some research on different recipes before I actually posted.))

Once the round started, Lilly sat down, keeping note of the time and watching the others, all the while keeping herself from seeing what the secret ingredient is (as she never knows what it is until it's revealed. Marin takes care of that, usually).
15 minutes came and went, and a loud buzzer sounded off, causing the large Guilmon to stand up.
"Alright, folks, everyone stop what you are doing! It's time for the secret ingredient! Katie, come on down!"
A BlackGatomon walked out with a rolling tray, with a lid on something. It was unknown to all on the stage but Katie what the ingredient is. She placed the tray in the center of all the chefs and lifted the lid, revealing not one... but two items placed in large bowls!
"The secret ingredients are Almond Butter and Peach Jam! The classic combination of two wonderful flavors make such a wonderful waltz of taste that makes my mouth water! Mmmm... I could go for an Almond Butter and Peach Jam sandwich right now!"
"Isn't the combination Peanut Butter and Grape Jelly?"
"Oh, hee hee hee, I never heard of that. I'll have to try that out one day!"
Katie walked off the stage, and Lilly clasped her claws together. "Well, there you have it, contestants. Almond Butter and Peach Jam are the ingredients you must use! Now... let's resume the round!"

Mana was mixing her second preparation, at was about to finish when the buzzer went off. Luckily she wasn’t (that) startled by it, but it would have been so nice of they had said to her that in middle of the competition a sudden and loud noise could throw their concentration out of the window! Of course that she kept those thoughts to herself… she was in a competition, after all and she felt like it was a given that she had to expect to unexpected and that maybe, that wasn’t the only surprise she would have along the way.
Katie, a talking-walking bipedal black cat with gloves that resembled cat claws was the responsible for showing them the secret ingredient. As the black cat passed to where she was, Mana smiled at her and waited until the secret ingredient was revealed. And they seemed to be actually two ingredients. The girl started to think about the possibilities and the places where she could incorporate the almond butter and the peach jam until she decided for what she thought would be the best one. Granted, maybe the dessert would end up being a little on the sweet side of the scale, but hey, the contest’s called Sweet Genius, so maybe that would be actually something good. She could only hope that Lilly had a sweet tooth now.
With that plan already on her mind, she pulled two more small bowls and two spoons from were the supplies where, took a good amount of both ingredients into them and returned to her workspace. She had decided to use the lemon less mixture as of now, because she thought that the lemon’s taste would make the dessert awkward, so decided to just set aside the now mostly useless preparation and started to carefully add the almond butter to the bowl that had only cream and condensed milk. She mixed with great care to not to make the result too thick and then she carefully poured the mixture on the oblong baking dish just over the now-softened vainillas. As she watched how the biscuits were covered by her preparation, she couldn’t help but smile. Everything was going great.
When she was finished, she took the (almost) finished dessert and brought it to the stage’s freezer. If she recalled correctly, she had still something like maybe thirteen or so minutes left, and this dish was way better when it was served with a touch of cold so… she just went for it. She only had to wait for a while now.

Busy with his culinary creativity, the tall man had to remind himself to keep his ears open. Any moment now, the clock would tick down and the mystery ingredient would be announced and provided, and that ingredient had the potential to make or break his divine dessert. Palms white with flour and dough, he looked over to Lilly, who remained seated, and then over at his opponents. Each and every one of them busy with their creations, each determined to sweep the judges off their feet and take home the prize.
Lost in thought, Everett found himself jumping back as the buzzer shouted at them thunderously. That meant that the secret element would be announced right away! Rapidly washing and drying his dusty hands, the man pulled all of his focus to the front where he eyed sable coated feline strutting to center stage with a covered tray. Their lovely pink host soon announced the contents of what BlackGatomon, now introduced as Katie, had brought over.
Almond Butter and Peach Jam.
There were not one, but two secret ingredients! Thankfully, these two played perfectly with the mix of flavors he had previously concocted. Almonds seemed to integrate with all of his ingredients in many other delicious recipes: Spongy almond cake, which used whiskey or rum along with icing powder. Irish Whiskey Cake, which so delectably combined the flavors of whiskey and almond. Not to mention, the gourmet Amaretto Almond Whiskey, which was offered only in five-star lounges for it was so enchanting with its taste, and so sought after. Almond and vanilla didn’t even need to be mentioned; that combination was just about as classic as bread and butter.
Peach jam would also prove to be a treat. He’d had whiskey and peach schnapps before, which left his taste buds craving more. Not to mention, the two flavors hinted together made for such a perfect glaze or marinate, there was no way he could go wrong. Peach and vanilla were also fool proof, why with the multitude of existing dishes, like peach and vanilla muffins, he knew that his pastry would be perfect.
As Everett grabbed the two new additions to his recipe, he decided to give the judges a little variety. He took the dough he’d finished kneading, and split it into three groups. Everett set one batch of dough aside untouched, and then separated the other two. Into one of the batches, he scooped a tablespoon of almond butter, and into the other, a tablespoon of peach jam. He began kneading the two again, separately, making sure to blend the ingredient well in each batch. He worked quickly, using either hand for either batch, and alas he decided that the additional ingredients had been absorbed well into the dough.
Taking the three mounds in front of him, he laid them out and flattened them with his hands. Reaching into a nearby drawer, he pulled out a rolling pin and made three large, thin squares of dough. Grabbing the kitchen knife, Everett cut each of them into 2-inch strips, creating four dozen strips. He knew time would be running out soon, but looking at the clock, he knew he would have enough time to work his plan. From 48 strips, he would produce 24 braids, and with the four flavors he had planned, that would be 6 angel wings per pile.
Once the strips were cut, he began braiding them together, segregating them into four separate piles. The man made one pile with clean, unflavored angel wings, one pile with pure almond butter wings, one pile with pure peach flavored wings, and of course the best ones; one pile with one strip tying in almond butter with a strip of peach jam dough. These would be perfect, he thought, and the best part was that they only took one minute to fry per six angel wings, for a total of four minutes. He would be able to powder and dress each group of the delectable pastry as the other one fried, and even in the last five minutes, he’d have a minute to spare.
Luckily, as of right now, he had a minute head start before that final five countdown. With his oil already pre-heated, the man lowered the first batch into the oil, and as he would wait, he made sure the icing sugar and plates were ready, and that the next batch would be waiting to be popped in.
For the next six minutes, this man would be like a moving like a conveyor belt in a toy factory.

Shortmon had finished mixing together the different colors with the whip cream when he had heard the Guilmon announce the secret ingredient. He was hopeful for this ingredient and began thinking of ways to use the Almond Butter and Peach Jam, and came to the conclusion that one of the strawberries would be like a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich. Except minus the sandwich. For the bread he would put some sponge cake in the bottom.
He received his extra ingredients and went to work on scooping out the insides of the five strawberries. Shortmon knew this would be the most time consuming part, so he began chopping off the bases, tops, and scooping the fruit out with a melon baller. By the time he finished, four minutes had passed, and now he just had to mix together a few things before he could start making them look pretty.
With the premade sponge cake, Shortmon cut out a small circle, just enough to fit in the bottom. But now he had to figure out the right ratio of butter to jam to cream cheese. Since he had never done this style of a strawberry, the digimon just took very and scoops of the butter and jelly, before stirring it together hesitantly.
'This better be good...' Shortmon thought inside of his mind, knowing he was taking a risk with these strawberries. The risk to him was it was to simple, but that was his bond in a way.
As he finished, the digimon tasted it and noticed the peanut butter was a little strong, but he didn't have time to fix it. Shortmon didn't have time to fix anything.
"Piping bags...Here!" His eyes lit up once he saw them. It was about to make his life a little easier in this competition. Now all he wanted to do was to get these filled, hoping he had time. Shortmon could feel himself getting stressed, but he tried not to let it show. If it showed, that would only make him even more stressed. But he had to push those thoughts side and finished filling the bags. Now he just need to fill the strawberries, put the decorations on it, and plate it.

Jimmy looked up from his work as he heard the buzzer ring to inform them that it was time to reveal what the secret ingredient is for this round. Or secret ingredients, as it was for this case, as it was revealed that they would have to somehow incorporate both peach jam and almond butter into their desserts. The teen spent a few seconds thinking on this before realizing this could possibly be a best case scenario for him. All he would have to do is change the recipe a bit, and he should be perfectly fine.
With the apples nearly done, he quickly went over to retrieve the two required ingredients. The peach jam should mix nicely with the digifruit, and he hoped the almond butter would add a nice nutty taste. With that in mind, he carefully began measuring out the sugar, vanilla extract, peach jam, and almond butter, before adding these ingredients with the simmering apples. He then stired all the ingredients together until he was confident that they were mixed together well enough. Once he was, he removed the mix from the heat, and placed it in the fridge to chill for awhile.
While he was in the fridge, he quickly grabbed the main ingredient for his desert. It was impossible to create a soufflé without eggs afterall. He then began to crack several large eggs, carefully removing the egg yokes into a small bowl while he put the egg whites into a much larger one. Once he was satisfied he had cracked enough eggs, he placed the bowl full of egg whites under a mixer and began beating them until they became stiff enough to work with.
Jimmy looked up at the clock before quickly retrieving the bowl he had placed into the refrigerator. The mix was chilled now, and he needed to act quickly if he wanted to get this all done in time. He quickly poured the mixture ontop of the egg whites before grabbing a rubber spatula and pulling out a couple soufflé dishes. He then began to use the rubber spatula to gently fold the egg whites into the mix. This required some careful handiwork as he needed to make sure everything was evenly distributed throughout the dessert. Once it was, he carefully spooned the mix into the soufflé dishes, and placed in the already preheated oven.
Jimmy sighed in relief as he looked up at the clock. He should just have enough time to get everything done. Yet, now having some downtime, he wondered if he should try making something on the side, but elected not to. Once those soufflés were ready, he'd have to concentrate all his efforts in final looks to ensure they are perfect. Something he wouldn't be able to really do if he did something on the side. So instead, he grabbed some confectioner sugar and patiently waited for the mixture to cook. This was going to cut things close, but hopefully all his efforts would prove to be rewarding in the end.
