Air of Corrosion (TIMMIR)

And so, the group of Crystal, Pure/Mel, Rippah, and Vetina made it into the Hylden Area a sectioned off part of the digital world normally inaccessible to all without some means of crossing dimension much like travel to and from the human and digital worlds.
The area they landed in was barren. There were hills and crags, but little of any living vegitation. There was a light, yellow fog all around, not enough to drastically limit visibility beyond longer distances. But it did serve to aid in the tinting of this land, as very little of it wasn't some shade of yellow. Even the sky seemed to just be a cloudy yellow, with no apparent light source or any clearing. Just yellow fog.
And the air was unlike the digital world. Certainly breathable to a point, but had an unexplainable displeasing and faint scent to it. It certainly could not count as fresh in any way.
By the time Rippah and Pure made it through the portal, Vetina was gone, having ran off without any words. While she wouldn't go as far as to say she merely wanted to use them to get here, her goal wasn't quite the same as the others. Vetina was a target, and the hylden after her could come at any time. They've done it multiple times before, once leading to the suffering of the original Vetina. She needed to know who was behind that, and she needed to stop them.
Not only that, but Mel may still be at risk as well, since he too was ambushed by the Hylden before. For Vetina and (she figured) Mel's safety, she had to go off by herself. They can handle the rescue themselves. Even if Vetina had to be trapped here without the group, as long as she could solve the hylden issue she would be fine.
Meanwhile, Rippah looked around, noticing that Vetina was gone, then sighed. "Well, looks like it's just us 4, since Vetina seems to have ran off..."

"Well here we are. Home, sweet home." Mel said in a sarcastic tone to the group as they all arrived in the Hylden Area.
"Oh Yggdrasil! What is that smell?!" Crystal as she tried to fan whatever smell she smelt away from her noise.
"Fresh Hylden air. Don't you just love it?" Mel informed her, still using his sarcastic tone, "Barren land. Yellow fog. Yellow sky. Foul air. Yep. Just exactly how I left it. Oh wait... I think I see some actually grass over there. Oh... Nope. IT'S STILL JUST YELLOW FOG AND BARREN LAND!"
"Okay. Okay. I get it. Not a pleasant place to live." Crystal remarked, "Can we start moving?"
Mel and Crys looked around as they heard Rippah remarked that Vetina seems to have ran off, to see that it was true. "It appears she has. Let's hope it works in our favor. Knowing them. Most would probably wait til we get Celeste for them before trying to kill us."
"I guess that makes since. Kill us all in one swoop, while also burdening us with the task of having to protect Celeste." Crystal remarked, trying to think of what tactics they could use to prevent that from happening.
"Exactly. Though don't be surprised if some of them grow impatient and decide to attack us before then. We're just most likely going to have to brave the brunt of the attack after we get Celeste. So let's hope Vetina can thin out the herd a bit while we travel."
"Wait a sec. You don't mean she's going too..."
"Why else do you think she came? It's not just to help me, if that even truly had a part to play in the first place. It's to get revenge. And she saw the opportunity to get it." Mel pointed out.
"Shouldn't we go and help..."
"Get your priorities in order. We came here to save my sister and that's what we are going to do. We can't waste the time trying to help out another sad story, especially seeing how times running very short for my sister. Let's just count our blessings that her revenge helps us out in the long and get going." With that, Mel began to lead the way.

"Yeah, we should get going *urp*. She's not my favorite person in the world but I don't think she'll do anything that would jeopardize our own efforts. And chasing after her won't help much either."
Rippah followed Mel, feeling a bit awkward given the circumstances. Soon, their travels would take them to a small creek. It, too, was full of yellow... something. It could not strictly be called "water", although that's what it was, once. It flowed, but was thick, with bits of data to be seen in it. A stream full of data from the dead Hylden digimon. Even for a hylden exposure to this stream for an extended period usually induced additional mutations.
Although it was drinkable. If one wishes to risk mutation to drink corpse water.

As they traveled they soon came upon a small creek. A particular creek that Mel felt the need to warn them about. "Just so you all know. I wouldn't touch, drink, or be anywhere near the water you may find here. It... Does things." Mel said ominously.
"Wait. That's water. I honestly thought it was a... Well... Y'know." Crystal said shyly, not wanting to say what she thought the creek was out loud, "So uhh... Should I even ask what it can do? Or why it's all... yellow?"
"You don't want to know." Mel said simply as he continued to lead them onward. Obviously not wanting to hang out near this creek for any length of time.

Rippah didn't have the same thoughts as Crystal did. Everything was so yellow the fact that this strange yellow liquid was, well, yellow didn't surprise him. But it gave him a bad feeling that was bolstered when Mel warned them to avoid it.
"Eh... I've been here *belch* for only a little bit and I can start to really see why you Hylden want out so badly. And I feel like we've only scratched the surface."
It wasn't this creek alone, but all the water in the area that was like this, almost all interconnected in some way, and all full of dead Hylden data.
The creek was also the only real landmark nearby in this outer area, as the barren wasteland offered little in variety besides cracks, crags, crevasses, and the occasional hill. If there were large amounts of sand this could be considered a desert.
As for the occupants of this area, they were all located in one central city. There was little reason to venture outside save for special cases, usually mission related for the Hylden breaching into the digital world.

"Yeap. It's a wasteland out here. But it's our wasteland I suppose." Mel said with a shrug as he continued to walk.
"Us Hylden have been trying to find a way out of this prison for who knows how long. Each attempt becoming more desperate then the last." Mel told the group, "My sister actually believed she may have found a way to get us out of here. Yet some of her 'peers' looking into trying to do the same thing didn't like that she may have been so close to doing it herself, and decided to remove her from the equation. It was mere luck that she made it out alive. It makes me wonder now how many times we came so close to leaving this place to only have someone else betray them."
Crystal just kept on walking as she listened to the story. Then a thought occurred to her. "Y'know. We are in your area now. Couldn't you leave my brother's body and lead us that way?" She asked, wondering why she never thought to ask that before.
Mel sighed, "Figures that that is what you would ask after that story." Mel said slightly disappointed, "Unfortunately things aren't quite that simple." Was all he said about the matter. He knew Pure didn't want Crystal to know about their particular situation just yet, and decided to grant Pure this one wish. If only because if not for Pure, Mel would probably be dead by now.

More time passed, and Mel's hypothesis on the length of the trip seemed to be true. It would take a good chunk of the day to get to where Mel placed Celeste.
Rippah made no comment towards Mel exiting out Pure's body after giving his explanation that things weren't so simple. He had his reasons and last thing he needed was to add fuel to the fire. However, Rippah did notice something...
"You know... now that I *hurp* think about it... I'm not that hungry at the moment. I don't feel content or full just... not hungry... considering all the weird stuff this place does to you, am... am I coming under the *belch* effects of this area?"
Rippah and Crystal would have nothing to fear, though. These were the immediate effects of being here for a little while, but being physically altered here was a long process that would, for a champion, take at least a couple months.

Crystal paused for a second as Rippah pointed out that he wasn't hungry at the moment. Now that she thought about it, they have been travelling for a while now. Surely she should have felt at least a small tinge of hunger. Yet, like Rippah, there was nothing.
"I wouldn't worry to much about it. It's a slight side effect caused by being in this area. It will go away once we leave, and the more permanent side effects shouldn't take hold on you two for a good couple of months at least." Mel answered them plainly.
He then seemed to have went into deep thought about something for a second as they continued moving. "Just to be safe. If either of you decided to bring food along with you on this trip, I would suggest you don't bring it back with you when we go back. There's no telling eating something contaminated by this place could do."
"Of course now you tell us this." Crystal said slightly peeved.

"Yeah, I'm with you on that..." Rippah said, agreeing with Crystal in an annoyed tone. Rippah always carried food with him in his pouch. In fact, it would have probably been enough to share with the others for a day or so. If they don't mind a meal mostly consisting of cheesecake.
"No point tossing the *burrrp* stuff out now, someone may see it. A waste of good cheesecake, too."

"Well I'm sorry you weren't informed about this earlier. It just occurred to me now. If you really want to risk it, then fine. There's a chance the food will have no abnormal side effects. I'm just warning you that you should be careful." Mel told them as he grew tired of this.
Crystal rolled her eyes at this as they kept moving forward. "Well can you at least tell us where we're heading." Crystal asked.
"Someplace secret that I don't want any wondering ears hearing about." He told them plainly.
"How can there be any wondering ears out here. There's nothing but rocks and yellow fog as far as the eye can see." Crystal pointed out.
"Trust me. Better safe then sorry. I'm not risking the chance anyone else finding out about this."
"Of course you don't. Bear in mind that I still haven't dismissed the chance that this could be some sort of ambush."
"No. I haven't forgotten about that."

*Belch* Uh... well, better safe than sorry, I guess..." Rippah said in response to the chance that the food may not be contaminated. While more physical changes wouldn't happen if he isn't here for long, the area is affecting now now. Who knows how it will affect food, if at all?
"Anyway, I have a question, though, for Mel. As far as I can tell, you Hylden really want out of this place, and you guys have proven you can escape, as well as you guys have no qualms about body snatching. *belch*
So why aren't they all out yet? I mean, I can make guesses but I'd like to know for certain."

Mel glanced back as Rippah asked him a question as they walked. A good one at that. "Well there's multiple reasons for that. For one, opening a portal between here and the Digital World isn't easy. It took some of the brightest minds of your world to create the portal to bring us here. And the Hylden's don't have anywhere near the resources we had. That's not to mention the amount of power required to keep such a portal open.
"It also doesn't help that many of the scientist who worked on the portals no longer exist. It's now just me and a hand full of others who truly understand how this technology actually work. So getting one up and running at all is a pain to all, but the most elite.
"Plus I think I should remind you how inaccurate a portal can be. While it is possible to hone in on certain digimon, it can take quite a while for such thing to work. And that's only if you happen to have that digimon's data sequence. Otherwise it's like rolling a die on whether or not you'll find a digimon to take over. It was mere luck that I was able to find Pure when I did.
"Then we have to take into account about how much we stand out when we possess a digimon. Pure himself was being very co-operational when I took over his body, and thanks to that, along with the device I stole from the Hylden, he ended up not facing any of the physical mutations we can normally cause to digimon. Yet most do, and they will stand out because of it. Most Hylden wish to blend in and live relatively normal lives. Something that's not possible if you look like you've just took a five year bath in a deposit of nuclear waste.
"And despite what you may think. While most Hylden want to leave this prison, there are many who wish to do it without forcing their wills on others. They are holding out hope that someone would be able to come up with the answer that doesn't end up hurting anyone. Sadly they have been deprived of such a chance far to often." Mel gave a deep sigh as he ended his long speech, "Now then. Anything else you wish to know before we reach the Celeste?"

Rippah listened to Mel give a long explanation and response to Rippah's question. It reminded him of Lezard's occasionally long explanations he would tell him when Rippah was younger. Long winded, for sure, but not unappreciated. He listened intently, satisfied with that answer. For the most part.
"Alright, I get all of that. *Hurp* But I do have another question... where does Vetina fit into all this? She wasn't exactly open about her origins when I stopped her from possessing my girlfriend, but from what I've seen, but her actions strike me as... a bit peculiar. Especially with her running off."

Mel thought for a second before shrugging. "I don't think that's a story for me to tell. Though I will tell you that she's here for revenge. Pure and simple."
"And here I thought your honeyed words got to her." Crystal remarked with a scowl. At least that explains part of what's going, if only a little. "Does she even know where she's going? The geography of this place is so filled with fog that it's hard for me to keep track of where we are going or where we have been."
"I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't, though that probably wouldn't stop her. I doubt she would just run away from us like that if she didn't have at least some plan in mind for the trials ahead of her."

Rippah gave an annoyed sigh. Figures that weirdo Palmon was trouble.
"Plan? I wonder. *hurrp* I just wished she wouldn't run off like that but if she really is driven by revenge, guess it couldn't be helped. And whatever it is, it's probably a private matter."
Thinking for a moment for a new topic to speak on to make this trip a bit more bearable, Rippah continued to speak.
"Thinking about it... maybe it's just me, but it seems that we all gathered to be this motley crew of weirdos and eccentrics. Closest thing to normal we *belch* have is, well, I guess you, Crystal.
Speaking of strange... how did you meet that Gazimon? I mean... not to call him strange as an insult but *burrp* you don't see Gazimon like him around... and I thought I was a big Gabumon..."
