The couple of days after the rescue mission to save Mel's sister, Celeste was, even as most of the group winded down, pretty eventful.
Vetina and Pure got to talk for some time. Unfortunately, her stay would be short lived. Betty had received a call from Beverly, whom was the creator of Ghost, where Vetina was asked to come over to help her with something. As she left, Sanoske could tell that she had taken a liking to the Terriermon.
"Aye, and before departure, I'd be fond to relay that, even if certain bonds can't be future-proofed, you're a pleasant companion. I would like to return to you soon..."
Pure with someone like Vetina as a girlfriend? An odd pairing, indeed.
Burst and Karen had returned to their own duties, and Tab had returned briefly to check up on everyone. The egg was doing well so far, and he told them that he would be staying in Whitewater for the time being as the egg develops. Lezard had also took his leave.
Cuttah and Rippah had decided to stay relatively close to them, although Mel's pestering of Cuttah over the condition of his sister was proving to be less and less safe, what with her eventually pulling out a gun an threatening to shoot him. And, given Cuttah's issues it was decided that they would give Cuttah her space.
(((Skipping Crystal)))
After all that, though, it was time to wind down. Relax. It was Sanoske's turn to spend time with Pure. It was time... for fishing.

Pure yawned as he watched the string of the fishing pole go up and down in the water. It's been a tiring past few days. They managed to save Celeste, Vetina now has a crush on him, and Cuttah nearly blew off his head because Mel kept pestering her. Hopefully now he'll be able to just enjoy some much needed peace and quiet. At least Mel was now asleep after staying up all night, so that was a start. He just wished his body didn't feel so exhausted because of it.
As he sat there, Pure's began thinking about his sister. Ever since the incident Crystal didn't seem like herself. Sure she tried her best to put a smile for everyone, but there just seemed aura of depression around her. And Pure got the feeling that it wasn't her newly obtained scar that was keeping her down. If only she would talk to either him and Sanoske about it. Allow them to help her. Now he could only hope that some time by herself would give her themspace she needed to sort things out.

A certain digital lifeform was swimming in a certain digital lake. Well, swimming by some definition of the word, at least. The wild thrashing movement... Would be more akin to drowning, were it on the surface of the water. Underwater... No, it still seemed like drowning. It just was out of sight, and therefore out of mind... Except to the fish. The fish, who were the squirrel-esque creature's goal. Their soft flesh, a fine meal. But they were in their element... And Ratatoskr was not. As they darted around him, he twisted this way and that, trying and failing to reach them. The thrashing, in turn, alerted the inhabitants of the watery realm to his presence, and he was given a wide berth. There would be no fish dinner for him this day.
But what was that? There, floating in the water? Some worm? What is a worm doing in the water? But his hunger got the better of him... A horrible mistake. As something sharp attached to his meal pierced through his cheek. His silent scream expulsed the air from his lungs, and he began thrashing. For real this time. But all it did was sink the hook deeper. What trickery was this! That worms would grow spines! The squirrel was unfamiliar with fishing, and thus did not understand what had happened. All he knew was he had to get this thing out of his mouth! And get to the surface for air!

It had been a quite afternoon so far, the two seem more preoccupied with their own thoughts than talking for the most part. Crystal being responsible for Mel and Pure now being inseparable was something that bothered her more than a little bit, and this had not escaped Sanoske's thoughts either.
He paid little mind to the additional activity in the water as he looked to Pure. ^Do you think this fishing outing may have been... mistimed?^
Just then, Sanoske felt a tug at his line. Being far larger than Pure, he could easily pull up the line. What he saw was... mildly surprising.
^...well, that is peculiar...^

"What do you mean?" Pure said to focused on his own line to see what Sanoske had caught. Yet once he turned his gaze, what he saw caused him to jump back.
"What... What is that?" Pure asked as he saw the squirrel digimon at the end of the line.
There goes the peace and quiet he was hoping for.

Air! Fresh air! So wonderful! But not so wonderful was the fact that he had just been dragged out of the water by an invisible force! No... Not invisible. It was a string! So thin as to be invisible in the water! What sort of trap was this!? He tried to make sense of everything. On the other end of the line... Digimon? How he hated them, those creatures. The ones that were meant to exist. Unlike himself, fluke of unnature that he was. How he hated them. Hated and envied. Envied and hated.
The digital creature, which had once been a program... And now was no longer sure what he was, twisted in midair. And vanished, only to reappear roughly one meter away. Over dry land. And, thankfully, he left the hook behind. What did these two want with him! He glared at them, certain that he had been the target, when the truth was that he was just a hungry fool with little understanding of the world. Ratatoskr was scared. Scared and uncertain. What did these two want?
From the creature emanated a noise akin to static, as Rataoskr loaded a certain audio file from his memory banks. After a second, he unleashed a guttural roar, one belonging to a beast many times his size. It was meant as an intimidation tactic... But no matter how fierce the roar, it was ineffective coming from a creature as small as Ratatoskr. At most, the loud noise just scared the fish away.

^I am unsure. I have never seen such a digimon before... not that that is saying much.^
Sanoske was about to unhook Ratatoskr, but he did it himself before glaring at the two. Was he threatened by them? He did end up getting a hook stuck through his cheek, and one of his "captors" was a massive, winged Gazimon.
With some noise and a roar, it attempted to scare them, although Sanoske wasn't exactly convinced by it. However, he did faintly see that the fish scattered a bit away from the area.
^Me and my friend are just fishing. I apologize for any inconvenience we may have put you through, but there is no need to fear us.^[/color]
While Sanoske's status as an illusionary digimon would allow Ratat to understand him, since he looked like a beast type, Sanoske assumed as such, and those are able to understand Sansoke's growls as well.
^We probably need to find a new spot... that is, if you wish to continue.^

Perhaps Ratatoskr's roar proved to be a little more effective then he originally thought. Not only did it scare some fish, it just about caused the Pure to jump out of skin as he hid behind Sanoske. He could imagine Crystal would be laughing at the sight of him now. Her brother being scared by what appeared to be a squirrel of some kind. Yet something about this digimon seemed off to the cowardly Terriermon. Nothing that small should be able to make a sound like that. Or teleport.
"Sanoske be careful. That digimon could be dangerous." He warned the Gazimon as he kept a close eye on Ratatoskr. In hindsight, it was kind of sad to think about how well he was controlling his fear these past few days to only now freak out by some weird squirrel.

More static. "dangerous." the horned creature said... using Pure's voice! Right down to the tone in which said it. Then it burst into static again. ^apologize^ A replica of Sanoske's growls "I don't know" This time, it was a disgusting voice, almost a belch. One familiar to anyone who had met a certain OrcaWhamon named Zip. Some more static. "Audio file not located." By now, it should be clear to all listeners that not only was Ratatoskr using recordings of others' voices, but that he was, save for a small number of stock phrases, incapable of speech on his own.
The creature did not understand. What was the goal of these digimon. What was 'fishing'? What did it have to do with Ratatoskr? Why did they make no move towards him? In fact... The little one even shied away. He didn't understand.
((I wasn't sure if Ratatoskr's recordings of Sanoske's speech would be intelligible or not. I can change that if necessary.))

With Pure, embarrassingly cowering behind Sanoske, he could properly protect him should the need come. That said, the squirrel seemed to be rather harmless. However, he ha a peculiar way of speaking, playing back recorded messages.
Unfortunately, recording Sanoske's voice and playing it back wouldn't play right for Pure. Sanoske knew his own growls enough to know what he was saying, but his ability to communicate with growls is more merely verbal, it was an ability Sanoske had.
Still, Sanoske had an idea on a possible way to better communicate with him
^Pure... talk. Talk about anything. Be long winded. Talk about Blueberries or mountains or the shape of clouds.^

"It... It used my voice!" Pure said shocked. And did it just growl like Sanoske? He couldn't understand it like he usually did, but it sure did sound like one of Sanoske's growl. What was going on?
"Wait... What? What do you mean you want me to talk? I... I don't want it to steal my voice. It's bad enough that Mel already uses it." Pure responded to Sanoske's request.
They still had no idea what this squirrel actually is. It may full well prove to be hostile, or just plain hazardous to their health. Could it perhaps be tricking them into giving him their voices so it may mess with them later? Pure really didn't like the idea of being ran out of a town because something he said being used out of context.

"Audio file not located." "Audio file not located." The static noises came and went, as the squirrel-esque creature attempted to make itself understood. But its options were severly limited by its own, severely lacking, data banks. The creature could not even form simple questions, not being able to utilize the words, 'who' 'where' 'why' and 'how.' So it used the only one left. 'What.' "What do you..." More static. "Want."

Sanoske had to hold in his laughter at Pure's reaction, although by looking at him he didn't seem ready to laugh. He did growl a bit, though, before crossing his arm.
^Well, I would gladly speak myself, but we would not get anywhere and you know I struggle to even speak in an actual language.
Besides, you have been surrounded by plenty of digimon with odd methods of speaking, including myself if you consider me one. No need to be sheepish around a new oddity.
If he is dangerous, though, I will protect you. Also he cannot imitate my speech correctly.^
The large Gazimon then looked at Ratat to speak to him directly. ^We want nothing to do with you, we were merely catching fish. We had no intention of catching or harming you.
So is everything fine? I do not wish for you to scare my friend again.^

"Have you already forgotten our first meaning? I was afraid of you the first moment I saw you, and your manner of speaking didn't help matters much. I would have probably have ran off if not for Crys being there." Pure explained as he continued to keep a careful eye on the squirrel .
"Besides it's not just the manner of how it's speaks that freaks me out. You did see how it... teleported, didn't you? Who knows what other tricks it could have up it's sleeves? Uhh... No offense." He said, that final part meant for Ratatoskr

The static noise came once more, signifying the creature's attempts to speak. ^Catching fish^ More static. ^Fishing.^ Oh, so the creature was capable of putting two and two together. Were these two telling the truth? Was their aim really the fish... And not him? He was still guarded... But less so. They were Digimon, after all, and his attitude towards those creatures was best described as a mixture of envy and anger. What did they have that he did not? Why were they sentient, when he was not? For he knew that his ability to think had only come about from the X-antibody. A mutation. Chance. He was a creature not meant to exist.
The static started up again. "No" As usual, more static. Surely this was getting old, by now. "tricks" The small Digimon may be about as uncomfortable with Ratatoskr as Ratatoskr was with it. An odd thought, to be sure. Still, the squirrel creature had very little usable vocabulary that did not belong to the Terriermon. What he was saying was not necessarily false, however. Ratatoskr had very little techniques of use, besides his mimicry and teleportation. Well, the ability to perfectly mimic a voice was worrying enough... Even if each use of that ability was precluded by a very blatant and harsh noise.
