The Great City: Opening [PLOT] [5/5]

"...you mean a ferris wheel?" Adrian asked Anzu as she claimed humans did weird stuff as well, along with an anime bead of sweat. "It's a very relaxing ride, since humans don't normally have the ability to fly in the air like some of you guys."
Anyways, now it was time to read these commands, starting with the test... wait, the Juggernaut?! If his knowledge of superheroes and villains meant anything, it's that the word Juggernaut meant bad news...
"Well, you Digimon are out of luck; the only thing that can touch this Juggernaut thing is... well, these cars. Pure Twisted Metal or Carmeggedon action here, guys. It also says that only one team member has to be left standing to win, although we do still need to work as a team. If we fail this, then we don't get to enter this Great City."
The next section was about towers, and how they either help the team... or help Juggernaut. "Okay, these towers seem to be like cheat codes. They'll help us out tremendously, but it encourages us to keep them inactive."
"So basically, we have to rely on pure skill?" SuperShoutmon asked.
"Pretty much. They can only be changed before and after the test, and keeping them ALL inactive gives us access to more of this Great City."
Now, the final section: the vehicles themselves. There were four vehicles total: two to support the other vehicles, one to take damage, and one to deal damage. "No way... This is pure MMORPG roles! The DPS, the Tank, and the Support. Shoutmon and I call using the Onager!"
Now, before it was time to start, the others had decisions to make: which towers should be activated? What vehicles would be taken?

And as the exposition dump that nobody wanted whatsoever proceeded to happen as a result of Adrian typing all three commands at once, Akemi had to take a moment to actually read what was coming onto the screen as it was more or less what determined life or death. Anzu shrugged. "...Dude, we can read." That...was her response.
Akemi meanwhile was baffled that she understood all of that. It appears her sedentary and wasteful lifestyle involving memetic trash and video games finally came in handy. "...So basically we're just driving cars to win. No items, Fox only, Final Destination?" Unfortunately the MMO stuff kind of...was lost on her.
"Think that one's the most straightforward...We're also gonna need at least two of us on one vehicle...So, in the spirit of ensuring maximum efficiency I'm going with the velocipede. Any objections or...?" The teenager peered around. No? Anyone? "...Also I'll leave the towers to you guys."
...This was nerve wracking.

Toki thought about this for a moment "Well looks like this isn't going to be needed after all." he sighed sadly and reverted to human form "That form will have its chance to shine soon." he said, knowing now was not the time to sulk. "Let's see here..." he looked at the screen without crowding anyone and read through the rules "It seems like if we want to get anywhere we'll have to pass this test at a severe handicap. I've been through some tough fights before, but that might be a bit risky...again, there doesn't seem to be a deadly risk to this. Maybe give it a try and see how it goes?" he suggested.
He listened as the others made their decisions on what to pilot, Adrian seeming extremely happy to take the role of what he assumed to be the 'DPS.' He had recently gotten into gaming, so such terms were starting to sound familiar. He could only assume the Siege Engine was the Tank of the trio of vehicle types. "I wouldn't mind taking the Siege Engine as I seem to end up taking the front lines approach to combat a lot. I don't have a traditional Digimon partner with me though, so I might be at a bit of a handicap. I'll do what I can though."
Before he totally made his decision, he looked at Alice and Dorothy "Unless you want to take The siege engine, though a supporting vehicle with two pilots might be better for the team as a whole...it's your decision though and I'll respect it." he bowed his head, ready to participate in either role.

And as to vanquish her hopes on purpose, plenty of wall of texts appeared as soon as the group requested instructions. They were extremely surreal to Cion and spawned many questions that boggled her mind. Mere vehicles that were capable of resisting the attack of powerful digimons - that such instruments of warfare existed dumbfounded her, but she also comprehended the opportunity in that. If she was able to claim this armory for herself and somehow managed to utilize them from afar, then perhaps... her ambitions could finally be put into reality. However, first they had a challenge to overcome.
Destroying a big machine with smaller ones they would be granted temporarily. What kind of silly test was that? That hardly was a worthwhile way of measuring the participants' worthiness as there was a decent chance some had never driven before. Thankfully, with her partner Vertigo's sometimes manual approach she was familiar with difficult controls. Yet that did not mean that the Arniomon approved of this trial, nor did she appreciate the offer. Alas there did not appear to be a way around it unless she intended to cause havoc, which she did not.
"Access to the Main Hall means no towers may be active. Well... no cheats for us then." She figured with a calm tone to her voice, confident that everyone present sought to press further into this underground adventure. And since people already made dips on the vessel they desired, the silver fennec unwoundedly voiced her wishes, too. "Velocipede or Siege Engine Secondary Function."

"Dorothy, hand me your broom." Alice states with slight sigh, looking to her Digimon partner with a slight frown. "...If only one of us is allowed to do things in the test, it's best if the one doing this has it."
"...Yeah, yeah..." She gets off her broom, handing it to Alice with a grumpy look on her face, not pleased that she'll have to sit down at the sidelines. "Why'd you even need it, huh?"
Her Tamer responds with a slight shake of her head, something unpleasant undoubtedly playing through in her mind, a scenario she doesn't want to come true, but if it does, she wants to be prepared. "Backup in case I need to bail out." The broom is soon taken back by Dorothy, who almost shouts back a response.
"Then why don't ya just let me do it instead!?" The witch Digimon groans, a scowl on her face as she looks to one of the others in the group. "... Besides, last time you took charge, ya basically knocked yourself out." Finally deciding to fix her gaze on Toki, Dorothy speaks to him, briefly looking back at Alice with a slight grumble. "If ya want, I'll accompany you in the Siege Engine."
The green haired woman falls silent, shaking her head, her response slow and unpleasant. "I don't trust you with this."
"...And that's exactly why I'm doin' it myself." She glares at Alice with her teeth bared, her posture indicative of her anger, an aggressive, slightly hunched over stance. "Try 'n stop me." She soon turns her attention to the Spirit Warrior, a smug grin on her face as she laughs. "C'mon, let's go. Big metal things won't bash themselves together without us at the helm."
Alice remains there with her usual, judgemental expression, no longer displaying much of anything in terms of body language. "Fine. Be that way." She just remains there, her feelings locked away behind that stone faced glare of hers.

That was how things were, apparently! Luckily for the group, and even if no command had been input yet, it didn't mean that some work couldn't be done about it.
Namely, the vehicles; out of seemingly thin air four shapes began to manifest. One seemingly massive, another medium-sized and the last two were relatively small. Those would be the tools they would use to engage in this battle.
The siege engine could as well be called "mobile fortress", it was probably bigger than the other three vehicles combined, sporting a stout, stalwart appearance; its main weapon seemed to be a battery ram, even though a small turret was on its top, apparently to be operated by the vehicle's secondary driver.
The onager was a little cruder in design; almost as if it were the offspring of a medieval catapult and a car. Its primary meaning of damage was, well, the gigantic catapult on its back. Both the weapon and the vehicle itself seemed to be operated by whoever sat in the main cockpit, even though some additional systems could be accessed on the secondary cockpit.
And finally, the velocipedes. Those were sleek, looked fast, and definitely had the same feel than a motorcycle despite the fact that they had four wheels. No weapons, or apparent space for the second person seemed to be obvious at first, even though the second query could be easily answered. From the main seat, a pretty obvious lever could pulled in order to deploy a sidecar.
The four sat there, waiting to be boarded.

The Velocipede was a bike.
Of all the things it could've been, it was a goddamn bike. Akemi had never learned how to ride one of these. This was going to be ridiculous. Furthermore, it looked like Dorothy and Alice were...having a spat. "...We can't go anywhere if we're bickering, guys. Come on. So...If Dorothy can help with one thing, I suggest Alice try helping with another...?"
She wasn't trying to sound chiding but seriously, the stakes seemed to be...rather high. She glanced between the two, looking more than a little uncomfortable, before moving to the Velocipede. "...Last call, I could use someone to help me with this. I also don't want to try fitting Anzu into...whatever this lever deploys."
Anzu was flying besides Akemi and wondering where she could fit into all of this, meanwhile. She was very small. Very, very small. Would she even be able to operate anything?

"...That's the thing." Alice stops writing in her notebook, and reveals a somewhat hastily written copy of the rules before reading out the line that worries her greatly. "In the case of associations, like a human and one or more Digimon, only one member of that association can participate in this test." Shaking her head, she seems a bit puzzled, to say in the least. This situation couldn't possibly be any more out of place in the Digital World to her, and that leaves a lot of questions. "And as you heard, Dorothy wants to dive right in."
Dorothy responds with what equates to a little bit of a hiss, as if she doesn't want Alice to speak. "Plus I finally get to do somethin' without you constantly breathing down my neck or thinkin' you're special." She crosses her arms, refusing to change her mind.
"And I'm giving you some space. You sound like you need it, anyways." The green haired woman shrugs, not wanting to talk either. "Just don't get hurt. The last thing I want is you to get injured."
"Yeah, yeah..." The two glare at each other briefly before getting back to the subject at hand. "If you're in a pair like you 'n your lil' bean, one of you has to stay back." Taking a few steps over to the Tsukaimon and her Tamer, Dorothy can't help but laugh a little bit. "Them's the rules, from what Alice is sayin'. As for helping you... Yeah, why not, if there's already someone wantin' to be in the Siege Engine with Toki." She looks over the Velocipede, puzzled how such a thing even works. Humans having to go through such convoluted lengths just to get so much as a single wheel moving is funny... "You, uhh... Ya do know how to drive this kinda thing, right?" She seems ready to get in the moment someone gives her the okay.

Toki was slightly concerned with the bickering between Alice and Dorothy, but didn't want to strain the situation further by calling them out on it. He smiled at Dorothy "Thanks for the offer, but higher support functions are extremely valuable. Help with one of the Velocipedes, alright? And...sorry if this isn't any of my business, but you two are partners, right? You're Alice's Digimon...? While a little space is nice, I think you should appreciate each other's input." he said. He nodded at Alice telling Dorothy to not get hurt "Though I can see you two clearly care about each other's safety. In any case, I'll shut up about it and get ready to fight some big machine or whatever it is we're fighting." he said before he walked over to the Siege Engine.
He waved Cion over "If you haven't decided yet Cion, I'd really appreciate your assistance over here on the Siege Engine. I think with our current set up we stand a relatively decent chance at this. We just have to make sure to communicate with each other and make sure our plans don't get in the way of the others."
He was a little worried about Akemi and Anzu. It seemed they didn't quite enough to unlock the full capabilities of every vehicle, but they couldn't do much about that. "Whatever happens just stay focused. We either get through this or we're forced to leave. So with that said let's give it our all everybody!" he cheered, hoping to be a positive, optimistic force for the group.
He stepped inside the siege engine, unsure what kind of control set up to expect. All he hoped was that he and Cion could contribute to the battle in some way shape or form

Ignoring the constant back and forth during the chat her group help, Cion was focused on the bizarre designs of the vehicles they were supposed to drive. It was as if humans and digimons of the Middle Ages had attempted to tap into the future by designing means of transportation and this was the weird result. It was almost amazing to behold that they apparently possessed rather advanced weaponry and other system that enabled them combat. They were definitely an oddity, even in the digital realm, but as long as they sufficed for the challenge at hand who was she to actually complain?
Besides, due to Toki's kind offer, the sentiment of utilizing one of these gadgets turned quite pleasant. Being in the company of treasured companions always helped shifting gloom to boon. "Couldn't agree more with you, friend. And I'd be happy to team up with you." She stated sincerely, warm fuzzy feelings caressing her heart in her state of feeling appreciated. If nobody interfered, she'd join the lad inside the siege weapon with the awful appearance.

As much as Dorothy wants to hop into the main seat of the Velocipede and get to figuring out how such a bizarre contraption works, she decides to let Akemi do so instead, getting into the sidecar and stuffing her broom in there with her... Just in case the pair need to make a quick exit, just as Alice said. "Like I was sayin'... I hope ya know how to drive this kinda thing. This is real weird."
Alice, on the other hand, takes a step back, heading towards the computer. "I'll start things up from here so you can all prepare yourselves." She runs a hand through her green hair anxiously, not sure if remaining here is the best idea, but also left without a choice, according to the rules. "This isn't going to be easy, but I hope the best for all of you... And suggest you all get in your vehicles now. I don't think we should wait much longer."
The first thing Dorothy does when she's inside the sidecar of the Velocipede is check for buttons, switches, anything that she can use to actually do anything when the opportunity arrives. As much as she wants to touch any of it, she stops herself, not wanting to blow anyone up by accident... Even if that might be a little funny. "I'm ready to get goin'. What about the rest of you? C'mon, do ya just wanna sit there?!"

Realizing his champion form was no longer needed, SuperShoutmon devolved back to his rookie form. "I was seriously hoping that I'd get to fight something..."
"Well, we kind of are," Adrian says, referring to the vehicles.
"I said fight. Not bash into with overgrown toys."
"I think your mood will change as soon as we get this thing started, Shoutmon." Speaking of which, he heard the others discuss which vehicles they themselves will get into. "Alright... are you guys ready? Then... let's just hope we don't die." He said nonchalantly as he hit the Start Test option.
Assuming nothing TOO big would happen, he and Shoutmon would immediately get into the Onager.
"Hey! Slowpokes! Let's get into these things already! We're gonna show this Juggernaut thing that we're the boss!" It was obvious that this red dragon still had lots of enthusiasm, despite being disappointed about no hand-to-hand combat.

Velocipede: 125 HP. Velocipede — Driver Speed Boost: The vehicle becomes twice as quick for two posts. 3-post cooldown. Pitch: Leaves a trail of black pitch for on the vehicle's next post. Any vehicle advancing through the pitch gets its speed reduced by half for one post. 2-post cooldown. Horn: Deals 5 damage in the direction directly in front of the Velocipede.
Velocipede — Passenger Quick Repair: Repairs any vehicle at melee range for 100 HP (Including itself). 2-post cooldown. Eject: Ejects the passenger car of the vehicle in the direction of the nearest vehicle's passenger car. 3-post cooldown. Onager: 175 HP Onager — Driver Flaming Boulder: Basic Attack, consisting in... well, a huge flaming boulder. Deals 25 damage. Boulder Barrage: Same as Flaming Boulder, but with two in a quick succession. Deals 50 damage. 2-post cooldown.
Onager — Passenger Explosive Barrel: sets a barrel with explosives at the feet of the Onager. Deals 10 damage and ignites Pitch, creating a trail of flames that deals 25 damage. Eject: Ejects the passenger car of the vehicle in the direction of the nearest vehicle's passenger car. 3-post cooldown. Siege Engine: 300 HP. Siege Engine — Driver Signal Flare: Forces the Juggernaut to focus its attention on the Siege Engine. Ram: Attacks with the Siege Engine's frontal ram. Deals 25 damage.
Siege Engine — Passenger Ultimate Defense: The Siege Engine becomes immune to any kind of damage for 1 post. 3-post cooldown. Eject: Ejects the passenger car of the vehicle in the direction of the nearest vehicle's passenger car. 3-post cooldown.
Once everyone boarded their vehicles and the test was started, the four vehicles advanced forward, leaving the remaining humans/digimon in the safety of the console room while the drivers entered the arena. "JUGGERNAUT ENGAGED AT MAXIMUM OUTPUT. NONCOMBATANTS BEWARE."Without warning, the massive enemy, a literal amalgam of all the previously mentioned vehicles began advancing forward, even though it kept still on the edge of the arena. Was it waiting for its enemies to make the first move or... for something else? In any case, it seemed like the group had the first move. Better for them to seize it. Great Juggernaut: 1500 HP.

After a minute of familiarizing herself with the control scheme of the vehicle, Akemi gave a smile at Dorothy. "Looks easy enough. I think the real challenge is not crashing into anything. Either way...I guess I'm as ready as I can be..." Which was not very ready at all. Anzu was left behind in the safety of the console room while the Velocipede advanced into the arena.
...
And the enemy was literally every vehicle at once but also fused and cooler somehow. Well, Akemi had to start this off correctly...She looked to Dorothy. "If anyone gets damaged and you want to get us over to heal them, just let me know, alright?" She felt like that was pertinent to make known.
Meanwhile, she slammed the button to engage the speed boost. She wondered how the others would proceed, because she was going to engage the speed boost first.
Might be a bad idea, but it's far from the worst one she's ever had.
SPEEDY MODE ENGAGE, 0/2.

"Alright, let's do this," Adrian says as he pulls his goggles down over his eyes and grips the steering wheel of the Onager as Shoutmon chills in the passenger seat.
"You know how to drive, right?" Shoutmon asked his partner.
"Not at all," Adrian confidently says as he advanced with the other vehicles towards the Arena, where each car came face-to-face with the Juggernaut, which looked... VERY intimidating. Better now than never, it seems.
"Alright, everyone, I'm going to fire an attack," Adrian announced to the others. "Take some of this Boulder Barrage!" Adrian then pressed a button, which caused two flaming boulders to launch out of the vehicle, hurtling straight at the Juggernaut. If it collides properly, it would induce 50 HP of damage!
Onager - 175 HP remaining
Onager fires Boulder Barrage - 2 posts remaining
