Seeing Yomi actually getting a grasp of her physiognomy in this new form was actually… interesting. It made Katherine wonder how it felt like.
“O-Of course I didn’t mean looking like that!” The Spaniard waved her hands dismissively. She had to go back to her human form before even starting to think about going back to the Real World, right? Katherine took her own share on time to dwell about the matter and, although Jazz was still sitting far from them, she could still hear them, so she was helping them think too.
“Yes. It wants you to do something again. That makes sense.” Katherine nodded at her friend’s deductions. The question was… what did it want from Yomi this time? “The black… what?” The green-eyed tilted her head. Then, she stiffed a quiet laugh behind her hand. Yomi was so funny sometimes!
“I don’t think they want to communicate through dreams again, since you would have had another dream while you were sleeping the past day.” Jazz chipped in with her own piece of insight. And she was right.
“Its sword transformed you into a digimon. So he might want to… fight someone?” Finally, the teenager reached a conclusion.
“Maybe not just anyone. Maybe its enemies. In that wasteland, it looked like it had fought by itself against a bunch of enemies, right? Maybe it wants you to get revenge for it.” Jazz suggested. Well… that made sense. Unless Yomi wanted to contribute with any other idea.
The problem was clear as day, though. “But how are we going to find the enemy it wants you to eliminate?” And, most importantly… how was Yomi, who had just turned into a digimon and was afraid of walking around naked, going to eliminate any ancient warrior?
Again, these were all just a bunch of assumptions at the time.

"F-fight someone?!"
Yomi stuttered, her eyes going wide, as she tumbled a step or two away from Jazz. "But... how? Why? Why me? I'm not a warrior! I didn't even fight anybody since like... elementary school! Aside from my best friend occasionally but that doesn't count!" The renamon told, clenching her fists in front of her chest. And yet... that supposition... did make sense, somehow. The spirit that turned her into this ... thing certainly did fight a lot.
"It does seem like a violent sort..." - Yomi added, looking down, and recalling her dream again inside of her head.
"There were... white figures. They were very fast, but I... he... it? Was faster somehow. But there were just too many. They must have been those people wielding those fancy swords with wings and signs all over them!"
That realization sent a shiver of fear down Yomi's spine, as whatever small speck of consideration to try and take on another 'quest' was completely eraced from her mind. Her back hunched, as if under invisible weight. Panicky and exasperated, she approached Kathy, bringing both hands around the petite spanish girl's shoulders.
"There's no way I could fight them! Whoever they are! You've seen their swords! They're HUGE!"
Yomi shook the girl in her grip, and it took her a few moments to realize she was actually holding her several feet above the ground now, with just two hands. A flush of embarrassment came across her face, as she put the girl down on the ground again.
"S-sorry... I'm still not used to what this body could do..."
Even though she was technically a 'child' stage digimon, Yomi was much stronger than her human form previously allowed. Under the thin layer of fur was a slender yet musclular body. That of a warrior. Perhaps giving more hints into what was the person... digimon its data used to belong to.

The sole thought of Yomi fighting someone was definitely awkward. Furthermore, in elementary school! What could have driven the girl to actually fight someone back then? Katherine had never been the fighting type before arriving at the Digital World, so she wouldn’t know. Well, at least Yomi was aware the duo’s deductions made sense. Unfortunately, neither Katherine or Jazz could match that description with any digimon they knew right now. They would need better clues to actually know what the spirit wanted Yomi to fight.
Katherine just stared at the fretted Renamon as she picked her off the ground. When she was finally put down, the girl just chuckled. “That’s fine.” She trusted Yomi. She really did. She knew her friend wouldn’t hurt her. “I think your spirit was able to put up a fight despite them being huge or having swords. I think it actually used its speed to succeed in combat. Or that’s what it seems like, according to what you describe.” Again, that was just another deduction.
“It seems like your strength relies on your speed to dodge enemy attacks and then striking them one by one.” Jazz had stood up and walked towards the duo. She was still avoiding to stare at Yomi for too long.
The tamer nodded. Her partner’s logic seemed correct. “Right now… I can see there are two possibilities in the air.” The teenager raised two fingers. “One: your spirit wants you to taste your skills fighting just anyone before letting you go back to your human form temporarily. Or two: Your spirit wants you to actually fight someone in specific, which we don’t know who it might be as of now.”
A pause ensued, while Katherine tried to gather up the rest of her ideas.
“Either way, you should fight someone to test your skills. Whether that is what your spirit wants right now or whether you’ll use that as training for when the real fight comes, it seems like that is the way to proceed.” Said Katherine. Then again, it was Yomi who they were talking about. Would she really be up for that? “I mean… I’m not going to force you. But I do think that’s our best bet right now.”
Letting out a sigh, Katherine’s green eyes shifted to glare at her digimon.
“Would you help us with that, Jazz?” She asked.
“Huh?” The Chohakkaimon’s eyes widened. For a second, she leered at Yomi, blushing a bit. “... Y-yes! O-Of course… I c-can do it.” The pig-girl stuttered, lowering her gaze and fiddling with her paws. Then, she extended her paw to make her Roketto Dinpa materialize. … Why was she acting so weird today?

"Well, the spirit had a big sword too... Just not as fancy. It was taller than me!"
Not that it made any dents in the theory. Though somehow, Yomi doubted that the way she looked now represented the way the spirit did, back then. And it did not give her any ideas on why would people hate a fox person so much to send armies after her anyway. Scratching her head, Yomi seemed... lost. This is all supposition... We have no idea on what this bloody thing wants from me... the Renamon thought, gritting her teeth a little, as her fingers tightened around the D-tector. Even with her newfound strength, she could not crush the device that, though looking like made of plastic, felt sturdier than a rock. Eventually, she gave up and placed it back on her hip, letting it stick.
It was then, when Kathy came up with an idea.
"W-wait... you want me to fight... Jazz?"
The renamon looked at the girl incredulously, then looking at the Chokkaimon, who was fiddling and tumbling about, from one foot to the other, looking a bit like a sheepish japanese schoolgirl... in a pig costume. With a giant mallet. Yomi winced, looking at that thing in her hands, as it still looked big enough to maul her bones to fine powder. In her new body, the girl felt fast and strong... But anything but sturdy. She took another step back. But...
But what if it is what my spirit wants me to do? To let me have my human body back?
They had no proof... But there was some internal logic to it. Renamon looked to one side, then to another, her tail making sweepy, nervous motions in the air, forcing her to catch it with hands and hold it still once more.
"I... I really don't know about this. Last time she tried smashing me with a giant mallet. I guess I could... try? But no weapons! I don't want to spend the next two months healing my broken ribs. Do I even have ribs?"
Yomi poked her side with a finger. Yep, she did have ribs. But with how digimon worked, one could never be sure. They did remove a very special part of her body, after all!

At Yomi's comment, Katherine pouted. "Y-Yomi! It offends me that you would think I would let Jazz hurt you in any way!" The Spaniard said, puffing her cheeks. She should trust her as much as Katherine trusted her! She then leered at her peer, moving her head so the pig-girl made the mallet disappear again.
Jazz nodded at Katherine's words. "Right." She now glared at Yomi. "Besides, if I wanted to break your ribs I wouldn't need my Roketto Dingpa for that, silly!" She noted as leisurely as if she was talking about anything else. Then, her eyes escaped the fox's gaze again.
"That is... really not helping our case." Katherine let out a sigh. She was right. She just didn't need to say it. "Don't worry, okay? Jazz won't actually hurt you. She would be unable to hit you without causing some serious damage on you if you were a human. But now that you're a digimon, sparring is an option." Besides, maybe she wouldn't even be able to catch her to actually clobber her. Or maybe she would. There was only one way to find out, right?
"We probably shouldn't do this so close to the tents in the settlement." Katherine's green eyes scanned the layout of the place, her index finger placed over her lower lip. "Let's go to a place where you can fight properly."
After walking for a couple of minutes, the group was far enough from the settlement. Their arena consisted of nothing more than a couple of trees that had no leaves and brown dirt, the dim sky of the Dark Area above them. Was there anything of interest that was worth being noted in this stage? Maybe Yomi had seen something that she could use as an advantage. Maybe not.
Katherine took some steps away from both digimon. She glared at the Renamon one last time before the bout started. "Don't worry, okay?" She tilted her head, showing a smile to the fox. "I'll stop the battle if it gets too dangerous for you." Should she also mention Jazz tended to get over-excited when she battled? She probably shouldn't. She didn't want to scare her.
"Okay... begin!"
Katherine's words marked the start of Yomi's training. Jazz started by running at full throttle against the Renamon, her body slightly bowed forward, ready to tackle her.
"Here I go...!"

"Gee... that's reassuring."
The renamon shrugged, with a long, almost flat-looking smile on her face. Nothing like fighting a person... digimon! who could break your bones WITHOUT the weapon... Though maybe I'm overthinking it... - Yomi thought, looking at Jazz, and then at Kathy. The girl was a friend, she promised it would go okay, and Jazz seemed to like her too, although in a very strange, awkward kind of way. Surely neither of them would want to hurt the poor and completely average Japanese girl in the skin of a rookie digimon, right?
Right?
Yomi followed the other two outside of the camp, all while watching the pigsuit digimon in front of her. Sure she flung that large mallet like a champion, but otherwise, she ... did not look all that scary. In fact, the suit made her look kind of goofy and clumsy! Especially with the way she fell over the other time, total faceplant! Maybe I could take her on... - the fox thought, a bit of a confident smirk creeping up on her face...
Or maybe it was nervousness making the muscles on her face convulse. Hard to tell. Either way, they were there. A flat open ground covered in gray ash, with a couple of dried up tree trunks. Thunder was coloring the skies red in the distance, and its racket sounded like boulders rolling downhill. It was very... cinematic, in a way. I half-way expect a videogame boss to jump from the skies half-way in...
Yomi looked back at Chokkaimon, who was getting ready.
Maybe this won't be so bad... And I do need to learn to defend myself. Kathy won't be able to babysit me all the time...
"Alright, Jazz... You can... start whenever you feel like?" - the renamon said, adopting a stance... of some sort. Even though her body was that of a fighter, her skills were not. The feet were a bit criss-crossed, and her arms stretched out forward, balled in fists. Back hunched. Yomi tried to emulate how people stood in one of her videogames or boxing matches on TV. The girl summoned all of her courage and determination, even frowning to make her face look serious and scary, as if ready to fight. And she was...
Up until the moment the pig-girl charged at her! At impressive speed too! The renamon's eyes widened like plates.
"Oh no oh no oh no oh no..." - all the carefully-mustered confidence and battle-readiness vanishing in a blink of an eye, as the fox did the only thing she seemed good at so far, running away! Head turned halfway back to keep an eye on Jazz, as Yomi did not look where she was going! And at the last moment as Jazz was about to tackle, she felt herself going... up! Mouth opening in a gasp, as the renamon discovered herself running up the tree trunk, with Jazz down below, carried by all of her momentum and weight, to wrestle the hard dried-up trunk instead!
*THUNK*
The sound of impact made Yomi stop running and look down, keeping a gasp inside of her chest, and hoping that the digimon was okay. But as she did it, she learned the first rule of wall-scaling.
Never stop running mid-way!
"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!"
With a girly squeal, the renamon fell down from the tree, landing rear-first on top of Jazz!

“She is not… looking ahead.”
And she wasn’t. Katherine actually noticed her partner had her eyes closed while she ran! What in the world was she doing? Why was she trying to avoid looking at Yomi? And how was she going to fight her like that? Well, not like the Renamon was too interested in fighting either. She was running away already! Was that part of her strategy? It really didn’t seem like. Katherine tilted her head as she saw the inevitable unfold. At least until Yomi had run up the trunk of one of those dried trees! That was actually pretty amazing.
Not a second after, Jazz smashed her head against the tree. The Chohakkaimon felt her whole suit tremble as she did. Her eyes were still closed but… whoa! Yomi was quite sturdy! And… much bigger than her? No, that couldn’t be right. Jazz opened up her eyes to see she had actually slammed against a tree. The pig girl blinked twice, looking at the bark in front of her. She glared at her tamer, standing some feet away from the action.
“... What are you doing?” Katherine asked, quirking an eyebrow.
Then, the Renamon’s squeak got to the suited digimon’s ears. She raised her gaze only to see… Yomi’s butt falling on top of her. She raised her hands to stop her fall, but it was… well, too late. She was able to grab the Renamon only once her tail was wiggling over her face.
Jazz remained quiet for a second or two, as she grabbed the Renamon by her hips and a bright, red color took over her whole face.
“N-No!!!” She squealed, extending the last vowel and throwing the fox with both hands into the distance. Into the very far away distance! Yomi had been thrown at least 30 meters into the air, being jutted away from Jazz.
“Y-Yomi!” Katherine gasped, seeing her friend fly above her.

Yomi had landed on something that was not ground.
It was something... soft. Squirmy. It took a couple of moments to realize what it was, but when the muffled gasp came from underneath, it became obvious. The fox's face would have become red from embarrassment, if renamon could blush, she would! But there was no time for that, as before she knew it, those large and strong hands locked around her waist, and she could feel tremendous force flinging her in the air!
"AAAAAAAAAH!"
The fox digimon was propelled high into the air! Much higher than she expected to be, or was even comfortable with! Both Jazz and Yomi suddenly became smaller, as she was 100 feet into the air, and the distance kept growing as her own mass and velocity kept propelling her forward! The fox felt like a brick, tossed and spiraling through the air, as her body froze in sheer horror of what was gonna happen. There was nothing but hard ground and rock all around to fall upon!
I'm gonna die...
A brief thought went through her head, followed by nervous laughter from the inside. Followed by a quiet sigh, and an ominous, echoing voice.
Pathetic.
And at that moment, something happened. The ground was closing in quickly, as she was losing altitude, about to go into a nosedive and plummet towards it. Suddenly, the frenetic fall was stopped as the renamon grouped herself up in the air and twisted her entire body, spinning in the air as though a butterfly. Landing on her feet and sliding across the ground a dozen feet or so, carried off by the inertia. Yomi was panting, her chest rising and falling, heart beating wildly, as her mind went out of the blank state. Looking around, confused and bewildered, as to how she ended up on the ground and not smashed to bits. The color of her eyes red, blinking a few times, before returning back to blue, along with the realization what just happened...
... ... ...
"WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY?!"

Letting out another sigh, Katherine was about to say something to Jazz. But she didn’t need to. The Chohakkaimon had already made her Rokketo Dingpa appear. A quick meeting of their glances was enough for Katherine to know what her partner was planning. The digimon was prepared to make a gust of wind come out from beneath the ground and cushion the Renamon’s fall. However… there existed the very likely scenario where she could save herself. Could she do that? It was obvious Jazz wanted to see if she could.
Katherine just raised her gaze and stared at Yomi as she fell from the sky. She wasn’t worried about if she was coming out of this in one piece or not, but she knew thinking you’re going to die could not feel nice. Then again…
“What’s wrong with you? Why are you acting like that?” She questioned Jazz, turning her face towards her again.
“I-It’s nothing!” The pig-girl blurted out, her eyes affixed on the falling Renamon
“Then fight like you mean it.” Katherine chided. “We’re trying to help Yomi, aren’t we?”
These words seemed to reach the digimon. She lowered her head for a second, and then raised her gaze, nodding firmly. If they were going to do this, might as well do it right, huh? She would dwell on how she felt about Yomi's new form later.
Seeing the girl was about to hit the ground, Katherine glared at Jazz. “Do…!” She interrupted herself at the sight of Jazz widening her eyes. She turned to see Yomi herself again and… the girl had landed safely and was now sliding through the ground. She seemed pretty fretted.
“Amazing.” She furled with one of her curls using her index finger, beaming at the sight.
Then, her countenance turned into a serious one when Yomi yelled.
“Y-Yomi…! She was going to…!”
“Don’t.” Jazz made her Roketto Dingpa disappear and extended her paw towards Katherine, making a sign for her to cease speaking. “You told me to fight like I meant it, right? You don’t give explanations in the middle of a real battle.” She muttered.
Katherine’s eyes widened. Maybe… the fact of Yomi being angry could help her take this bout seriously too? the human took some steps back again.
“The sparring is not over. Continue!”
With this, Jazz charged again at the Renamon. This time, she was looking straight into her eyes, and cracks appeared on the ground as she made her way towards her opponent. When she arrived, she would throw a mighty punch at the Renamon.

"Sparring?! This idiot lobbed me 30 meters into the air!!! You call that SPARRING?!"
Yomi's voice cracked, as she sounded angry and scared for what could have happened, at the same time. She had no idea on thinking about how she managed to land so neatly from the fall, but there was no time about it, because Chokkaimon was charging at her again! But the Renamon did not want to have any part in this whatsoever anymore!
"Stop! You're crazy! I'm not gonna be fighting y-UMPF!"
The fox never made it to the end of her line, before that giant fist landed square to the side of her face! The punch was mighty, as it flung Yomi to the side. She flied about 10 feet before hitting the ground, rolling against it, and landing unto her side. This... hurt. Plenty. Yomi's eyes become blank, her face buried against the dust and ground she just plowed with her body.
And... she was not getting up.

Could Yomi really be blamed? She had just arrived into this world less than two weeks ago. She couldn’t be expected to trust a digimon or their actions. Still! A bit of trust in Katherine’s words would be good. Although that might account for her just coming from a near-death experience.
Then… another sigh. Katherine just lowered her head and her arms, only raising one to put a hand over her face. “That… didn’t come out that good, did it?” It was clear Yomi wasn’t even aware of how was she able to come out alive of that throw. Maybe it had been the spirit who borrowed her the instincts to survive? That would have at least accomplished an interesting piece of information for this bout.
“Jazz! That was too much!” She turned her head towards her partner and chided, her eyes then went at Yomi. Was she out? How was that possible? Had Jazz actually become this strong?
“Y-You told me to fight like I meant it!” The pig-girl talked back. Well, maybe she had meant it too much this time around.
Were they sure she was getting up, or…?
“You should go check on her.” The green-eyed suggested. Jazz walked slowly towards the Renamon, once she was in front of the fox, she took a good look at her.

Yomi opened her eyes... And yet, she did not.
She looked like herself, and yet, she did not. The girl was in her human body, but... she was not on this Earth. Instead, drifting in a dark void inside of her own mindscape, with two chasms ripped open before her. Through them, she could see the world outside, like through giant eyes. Something was happening. Something she had no control over. She could see Jazz approaching, with a worried look on her face. Yomi shouted something, but her voice remained contained within the mindscape. The outside world was in control of someone else. Something else.
The renamon remained still, as the champion digimon approached her. But as it did, for a brief moment, the Renamon opened one eye, and looked up at her. The color of the eye was red, spiteful... angry. Very... unYomi-like. Suddenly, a dark smoke erupted from underneath the fox, claiming both of them and shrouding them from Kathy's sight. The Chokkaimon would find itself laboring for breath, the smoke making one cough and sting at the eyes.
The Renamon was... gone.
But not for long, as Jazz would feel someone grabbing her on the back and neck from behind. And the next moment, she'd feel something sharp pierce through her pig suit, and strike at her very core. A stab, another, another! Like a flurry of violent stabs, from an opponent she could not see! This was not right! The agreement with Yomi for this spar was 'No weapons'!
Then again, this... did not feel like Yomi at all. The Chokkaimon could almost feel the malicious intent, the killing instinct. Something a poor scared japanese schoolgirl never hoped to possess.

The moment the Renamon opened that red eye, Jazz took a step back, a bit scared. It was the same look she had given to her when she landed after being thrown. Then… smoke. Jazz started coughing, trying to not take her eyes off the fox.
“Yomi…?” Katherine murmured, watching the event unfold. What was going on? It didn’t seem like Yomi wanted to keep going with the fight just a second ago. Then… why? For the moment, the curly-haired teenager just kept her digivice tightly grip in her right hand.
As each of those painful stabs went through Jazz’s suit, the pig-girl groaned in pain. Then, she clenched her teeth and tried to contain these moans. A predatory smile appeared on her face. In the end, Chohakkaimon was the only known form of Jazz who absolutely loved fighting. She fed on it. And she was going to have a blast.
A… literal blast. The pig-girl burst on fire. Her whole body was completely engulfed by scorching flames that went to grow around 10 meters in height, making the temperature around her rise to unbearable levels and burning everything around her. Whatever was on her, it was going to get scorched.
The Spaniard’s green eyes managed to see the fire lighted between the smoke. “J-Jaenryu…?” She muttered.
Yes, those stabs were painful. They hurt a lot, and she didn’t know how much was she going to be able to withstand those. But unless the Renamon got off her, this was going to be a test of resistance. Who would fall victim of the consuming pain?
Right now, Jazz felt she would be damned if she was going to let a Rookie beat her after she survived the attack of a Mega-level digimon.

The renamon... or whoever was at the wheel right now, was not going to test the body's resolve against flames.
It fought against stronger opponents before, and knew that matching them directly was not going to win the fight. The moment the lingering flames burst around the Chokkaimon, trying to toast the rookie digimon, it stabbed the daggers at the shoulders to pull itself up, and kicked off of her back with both legs, to propel oneself out of danger, and to make the other possibly lose balance with a powerful push. Like a black bolt of lightning, the fox came out of the smoke, her fur covered in cinders and singes, but nothing intolerable. She rolled a bit away on the ground, before landing on two feet. Two Sai-like daggers in her hands.
But that was going to change.
Under her will, they changed into long throwing spears of dark energy, one of which was lobbed at the fiery and smokey mess in the distance, where Chokkaimon stood, piercing through both, in order to find its target. The renamon did not stand still, instead picking up the run to maneuver around the smoke and blaze, keeping distance. And in her trajectory, she was moving closer to Katherine.
Yomi watched this battle unravel through the screens into her mindscape. Unable to command, or do anything, she could only observe the ... thing fight. It was ... ruthless, and violent. Those stabs to Jazz's back made the girl scream and flail about the dark space she floated in.
"Stop! You can't do this! This is not how it was supposed to go!"
But the digimon remained mute to those cries, instead progressing with its battle plan, whatever it was. Forced to be the ineffectual audience, Yomi saw that. And through the digimon's eyes, she now knew that the renamon was looking at... Kathy. A brief hunch shooting through her mind.
"No! Don't even think about it! You hear!"

Her head held high, Katherine just followed the trajectory described by the Renamon’s body, propelling herself into the air and landing several meters afar from her digimon partner. After the landing, her eyes weren’t taken off from the creature. Both shock and curiosity made her leer at the digimon who seemed to have a renewed craving for fighting.
“Yomi... Are you okay?” She asked, getting no response. This wasn’t Yomi. The Renamon’s gaze told her that much.
The brief breathing time Jazz might have gotten after feeling the blades finally separate from her body did not last long. She opened up her paw to make her Roketto Dingpa appear once again. Luckily, Renamon was too tiny and she was too heavy to lose balance after a kick like that, although her agility was very surprising. How had this girl learned to maneuver her own body so well in so little time? In any case, if Yomi was using weapons, why shouldn’t she?
The Chohakkaimon opened up her paw and made the Roketto Dingpa materialize immediately, barely managing to deflect that spear coming her way, right after it had started piercing her shoulder. The pig-girl clenched her teeth in pain, but a quick swing of her hammer allowed her to clear out the smoke to see where the fox was. She was moving towards Katherine.
Was she really thinking about hurting her? This was definitely not Yomi. Jazz’s anger only made the fire around her grow bigger. Jaenryu, the fire-dragon spirit living within her, was not happy.
“Get away from her!” A mighty swing of her hammer created what could only be described as the biggest gust of wind that had probably ever gone through the Dark Area. A wave of wind, blowing exactly in the Renamon’s direction and through any portion of the air that separated the fox from Katherine, making her unable to reach her. The goal was to send her more than several meters away from the teenager and jutting her into the distance. The wind was meant to slice her body and cut it from all directions. Jazz knew this technique was particularly more damaging on Rookies.
Combat Log:
——This is the End!!!: Cho-Hakkaimon swings the Roketto Dingpa with full power, creating a whirlwind that's shot directly against the enemy. Normal damage on Champions. Double damage on Rookies and below. No damage on ultimates and above.
