In Need for Campers [Mission]
|
Post by tetsushi on Mar 25, 2019 1:05:16 GMT
"Announcement to all passengers, all commissioned mission takers are now present. To all mission takers, please head to the strategy room. The strategy room is in compartment two. For the meantime, please enjoy your travel. If you need any service such as drinks or food, please do not hesitate to order."
That was at least what the intercom said. Currently, the party members would find themselves inside a Grand Locomon with absurd level of luxury. The compartments are polished and high class. It felt like a land cruiser, honestly. However, the three parties are not here for vacation. They soon have to camp in the wilderness for three days. Well, "wilderness".
Upon reaching the strategy chamber, they would see a human child and a Digimon beside him. Tetsu and Gryz respectively. The boy is definitely a preteen while the Bearmon... not that much to say honestly. He's just a Bearmon, although seem to be a variant because of the red marks crisscrossing on his fur.
"Ah, hello! Thanks for taking my mission! Heya Ophelia! Hope you're doing fine! Um, so... first and foremost my name's Shishidou Tetsushi, Tetsu is fine. This is my partner, Gryz."
The calm looking Bearmon smiled and waved friendly at the party. Somehow his expression is fixed at = w= looking face.
Assuming that the rest would introduce themselves after this, Tetsu let them do so first. Afterward, he returned to the briefing. "I know I don't look much, but all I request is that you guys take this seriously. This might help development in various areas after all... especially in Spear of Megiddo. So!"
He tuned on the projector, showing one of an island in Spear of Megiddo. "This is our target island. As you can see there is huge volcano on the center, the rest is like Jurassic World in looks... "
Tetsu then zoomed in at a location in where there would be number five in clock. Near a water body, there is a shelter. It's shaped like a dome, but at the same time it looked more futuristic than simple shelter made out of insulating material. Its body is painted white, and the roof is blue. There are hydroponic garden outside in what looked like a mini greenhouse. On the east of this spot there are some hot springs. Various emergency packs are also available.
"As you guys been told before this is where you guys spend three days as per job description. This is a shelter that I have been developing along with some friends... We called this 'Sanctuary Alpha'. The project has been approved by the local, but... well, for now I guess it's best to ask if you guys have any question beforehand... I'm not really good at this explaining stuff, heh. I don't want to be longwinded too... so, any question for now?"

Ophelia was, to say the least, decently excited for this mission. It was the first time she actually picked up such a job, and it was a big one at that; getting to go out into a new area that she'd never been to before, and to help out with something important! The pressure was on for the little Spadamon - but she was also eager to go somewhere new that she normally wouldn't be able to visit, on account of her being more adapted for the north, and have the opportunity to really hone her skills, and show KIZNA what she was made of...!
Her tail was constantly swishing back and forth with excitement as she watched the surroundings zip by the window from the comfort of Ilbert, nibbling on some jerky that she had asked for not too long ago. It wouldn't be long until the call to go to the strategy room would go out though - and the second it did, her ears would perk, and she'd make a beeline for the indicated compartment. It seemed she was familiar with the layout of Ilbert, given that she'd been on the Grand Locomon a few times before; and it seemed that with this familiarity, she'd end up first to the strategy room.
Once there, she'd see Tetsu and Gryz; She'd heard of them, and knew they were KIZNA members like her; and she guessed that they heard of her, too! Though, she wasn't sure if they ever properly met before now...! Either way, she'd perk and grin widely, waving back to Tetsu and Gryz - "Hey there! Good to meet ya!" She'd chirp - supposing that no introduction would be needed, since the two greeted her by name. Instead, she'd peer over to the other mission-goers, ready to see who was here to join her on this camping trip!
As Tetsu went over the mission briefing though, she'd be listening closely and intently, ears pricked. She understood the basic idea - they're testing something to let non-fire digimon live comfortably on the Spire of Megiddo, but there's wild digimon - with a possible leader - who're mucking things up, and so they were there to help both beta test the shelter, and to figure out what's going on. Seeing the top-down view of the shelter though, Ophelia was quite amazed at just how much they had set up already; it definitely looked ready to house people! She wasn't too interested over the hot springs or the garden and whatnot, though. More the shelter as a whole, and what it meant.
As Tetsu would wrap up this first part of the briefing though, and ask them if they had any questions, Ophelia would raise her hand. "If we need to leave the shelter for any reason, would it be safe for a digimon like me?" She'd ask; figuring that if it was safe, she could scout around the shelter in short excursions, and use that as an opportunity to gather food, sniff out digimon in the area, and overall get a lay of the land. Then once she was done, she'd go back to the shelter to cool back off!

By this point in the ride, Silence had gotten well and settled on their ride. For some of them it wasn't even their first train ride to a mission, but even for them it was definitely their nicest. No train could house them all together, though. There were just too many. The perks of being the General of this army included having a compartment all to himself. That let the sixteen-year-old boy in a buzz cut and uncharacteristically loose, casual clothing relax a bit. Between his name, face, and accent, it was obvious he was born and raised Japanese. The seat across from himself was occupied by a big rolling suitcase 3/4 his own height. Having been alone when the announcement came and ended his break, he spoke to his aqua and silver Loader in order to communicate with someone else. "Captain, gather the team and have them meet me there. I just want to make sure everyone heard that."
"Yes, sir," was the polite acknowledgement of the order. Elsewhere on the train, a Commandramon exited his own compartment and started doing rounds. For convenience's sake, his weapons and gear were all stored in a pack on his back along with extra provisions he knew the group might need coming in. As he approached the compartment across his he banged on it twice with his fist before throwing it open. "All hands to compartment two."
"We heard," was the female Renamon's curt reply. She, Hagurumon, a BlackTerriermon, and a cluster of eight MetalKoromon all rose to walk (or float) to the strategy room. Like everyone else who could, the Renamon and BlackTerriermon each lugged a pack full of supplies and provisions, the rest being unable to carry such things. "Hey, can we get a snack on the way?" the BlackTerriermon queried.
"Maybe we should attend to business first, then eat..." Hagurumon hesitantly attempted to compromise. The MetalKoromon all made many beeping noises that couldn't easily be deciphered.
Commandramon stepped aside and let them all through. While that party headed for compartment two, the captain strode in the opposite direction looking for the rest of his team. For some, he didn't have to look hard. One, a Missimon whizzed right down the corridor and past his ear, shouting, "Hey!" Knowing what came next, he pressed his back flat into one wall to let the others recklessly rush through and avoid getting rammed into himself.
"We're-"
"-off-"
"-to-"
"-compartment-"
"-two!"
Annoyed as he personally was, Commandramon at least acknowledged that they were paying attention and being prompt. Silly as those Missimon could be, they were still trusty and reliable where it counted. Unfortunately, that wasn't the whole team either, and the rest were nowhere to be found. Knock after knock turned up no more familiar faces. They were under orders to stay close, so this was odd. The captain touched one claw to an ear and calmly but negatively reported, "The lieutenant's squadron remains unaccounted for. I can't find her anywhere."
As the last Missimon soared into his Xros Loader with most of the other digimon, Tadayoshi, outside the compartment, answered, "Don't worry, Top, they're here. Lieutenant says she and the boys just went out for some air." He was referring to the two-legged Jetmon perched on his outstretched right arm like a hawk as well as a pair of Rocketmon who had also entered the Loader for space's sake. "Come on down yourself."
"Coming to you, sir."
The members of Silence that made it into the compartment were Tadayoshi, Commandramon, Jetmon on Tadayoshi's arm, and the MetalKoromon who saved space by clinging to the ceiling and watching from above. The rest were in the loader that Tadayoshi left on the table so they could still be part of the conversation. "I'm General Tadayoshi Teppei, and this is my team," he greeted with sincere politeness, "I'd introduce us all, but I don't want to dominate the time. We'll work that out on the way." With that, he yielded the floor to Tetsu. When prompted, Jetmon had the first question. "'Jurassic World?'"
"It's a human movie," the human explained, "He's saying it's a very jungle-like environment." He also would have liked to remark how that 'shelter' looked more like a luxury resort, but he was polite and refrained. "What else can you tell us about the locals?" Commandramon inquired, "You claim you have their support for this structure, but your noticed suggested attitudes weren't so positive."

Bero hadn’t cared for the train. Pick a fight here, and he’d get kicked off. No interesting fires to find here. The food was food, just like any other food, although it was nice to be able to get it on demand. Without the ability to really fulfill his excessive demand for seeing either combat or powerful fires in the environment, the trailmon ride had left him quite bored, focused to staring outside as the trailmon and seeing the environment pass by. He almost never traveled via these kind of means, generally he didn’t have the resources to pay or the danm to give to make use of these luxuries.
Walking suited him fine most of the time, although he sometimes took a cheap trailmon or other means of transport because you simply couldn’t walk anywhere as a rookie. How infuriating he’d have to steep to helping out in some kind of mission just to get a good look at a volcano he hadn’t seen yet. He wanted to see the fires, maybe the digimon who stoked them and thrived in the environment as well! It also meant he was technically part of a group, so they should be able to protect him or at least reduce consequences.
He had been asked to prepare of his own means. He saw this as a sign of ‘don’t trust to find supplies in the wild’. He had supplied himself with rations, a decent pack of simplistic, cheap, dried digital rations that would nourish him. Nothing more. In his eyes, he was prepared for the mission, his natural skills were more than well enough for him to handle a situation of this caliber.
The announcement happened, and Bero figured that meant it was his turn to find his way to compartment two. He didn’t know his way too well around trailmons, so it’d be a bit of a guess and a walk around. He gave no one much time of day, a quick uninterested look the most he’d give them before he’d focus on achieving his goal. He was the latest of those officially recruited for the mission, but he did arrive during introductions.
Bero was appalled when he came inside. A Spadamon, a human which was surrounded by a bunch of digimon. Oh great, the roll of the random generator had really proven to thoroughly hate him. He took a closer look at the Spadamon, seeing something familiar in her. Well, worse had gone to worst. Whoever she was, he hoped he hadn’t already ruined things with her, such so that he could at least fool her into protecting him during the mission. When she spoke though, it all became clear. From his horn, a swath of blue fire passed over the entirety of his cape but faded quickly after. Bug it all to the dark zone and back. It was her.
Tadayoshi, the human, introduced himself. Bero should probably remember this human’s name, as he had a small army of digimon directly on him that could beat the daylights out of Bero, and Bero had to play nice with him for the foreseeable future. It was then Bero’s turn to introduce himself.
“Bero.” Is all he simply cared to say. He didn’t speak up, he didn’t walk to the middle of the room, he just waited until some of the attention was on him, and said it. He remained otherwise silent. His expression was unfriendly but not hostile.
The mission briefing. The other two had questions. They had concerns about the details. Smart, a focus on safety and things they could expect. Both smart ideas to ask. Bero didn’t have questions though. He remained dead silent but listened intently. The devimon hides in the details, and his survival might depend on the information he picks up here.

"Oh, nice to meet you guys... alright, so let's address your questions... Um... let's see... is it safe to go out from the shelter? It is, yes... but just in case I have prepared some oxygen masks inside the shelter. This is in case of some eruptions or gas leaks. In case of gas leak around the shelter happened, just call me. The internal system of the shelter should be well equipped with detector outside's gas level. It's apparently not as toxic to human compared to Digimon... so in case of that happened, please prioritize rescuing digimons first. Not saying that you should completely ignore the humans, no."
Tetsu clicked a button and showed the internal map of the shelter. "The air monitor is on the wall. It will beep several times to remind you that the air is dangerous. The sensor is on the back of the building, at twelve o-clock from the entrance. The entrance is at six. Speaking of which, at two 'o clock within five minutes walking distance, there is hot spring that you can bathe in. There is internal plumbing system, but in case it doesn't work because some malfunction, going to the river in the southeast will be crucial."
Hmmmm... about relationship with the local... "Right, about that... There are two factions here... there might be some other factions, but I haven't really met them yet. The faction that's living in this specific island generally are two... one that supports us, and another that doesn't support the development. The Digimon in the area are mostly dragon-type, dinosaur-type and flame-type, also mineral-type. Both sides have any of the four.
The first faction is led by tribe leader Akala the Master Tyrannomon. He excused that the shelter would helps his people... his people consists of mostly old Digimons and weaker child stages. By doing trades, his people could prosper. That's his reason to approve it. Leader Akala's tribe have their body painted with skull markings. It's easy to check.
The other faction is led by Gajuma the Dinohyumon. Gajuma is... for lack of better word, strong. Really strong. He might be Adult stage, but his power is closer to those of a Perfect stage. His tribes are full of fighters. Gajuma hates the shelter because in his opinion, it's mark of the weaklings. The weak must be purged, and that way the natural selection of the island can kicks in, and that way the island will prosper. To him there are nothing good about feeding those who's already knocking death's door. Best to feed them on the kids who need it so they can grew up healthy. Gajuma's tribesmen usually have bunch of bones accessories on their body. It's something akin to killcount for them.
...Of course I can understand that point of view but I feel to forsake old timers just because they're near death is needlessly cruel. That's why I made the shelter anyway without Gajuma's approval. We can't really see eye to eye. I guess thanks to that Gajuma is angry and decides to attack the shelter... but even then, I feel something is amiss... even though Gajuma hates weak Digimons, he won't go his way attacking worker from Akala's tribe just because they helped us. He never tried to eliminate the other tribe by himself anyway... Soft spot? Perhaps some sort of unwritten honor? No idea. Gajuma's policy is the weak serves the strong and the strong must be honored. He have fought with Gryz... I thought we would see more eye to eye... Ah, anything else?"

Ophelia would watch as all the digimon and people filled in, one by one; first being General Tadayoshi and his group. Ophelia would tilt her head curiously - she smelled a bunch of different lingering smells of digimon on the human, and even with most of his army being in the loader - not that she knew that - seeing the Jetmon perched on his shoulder, the Commandramon at his side, and the numerous MetalKoromon who hung around on the ceiling. She'd peer to one of the nearest MetalKoromon, staring up at it curiously as she tilted her head one way, and then the other, wondering how the little in-training digis were able to stick up here; let alone if it was safe for a bunch of little guys like that. Nonetheless, she would wave to Tadayoshi with a big grin - curious of what it meant to be a General of all these digimon.
Next though, was a familiar sight. A BlackGabumon whose scent was quite familiar to her, in fact, who would enter the room - though seemed to stay off to the side, as opposed to herself and Tadayoshi. Nonetheless though, as he introduced himself, Ophelia would speak up to him. "Oh, hey, I remember you!" She'd chirp with a smile. She remembered the fight he and Kitt had during that blind date some time back; especially when it ended with Kitt - quite literally - nailing him into the ground! She'd giggle softly at remembering such, but would approach to playfully punch Bero in the shoulder, mentioning "Damn shame I never got a round two with ya when we met before - but maybe we could spar once we settle down in the shelter, assuming nothing big happens? I'd love to get to know ya!" She seemed eager to set herself up against Bero, though she similarly didn't want to tucker herself out if anything big happened once they reached the shelter.
As Tetsu went over answering their questions though, Ophelia once more was listening intently to him. She was pleased to hear that they could leave the shelter safely - though she figured she'd want to bring a oxygen mask with her, just in case, when she did head out to scavenge, patrol, and get a lay of the land. Hopefully having an oxygen mask on wouldn't make it too hard to sniff around, she wouldn't want to wander into other digimons' territories by mistake, or be snuck up on by an enemy... Speaking of...
She'd listen curiously as well, as Tetsu explained the two factions that were native to the island. Akala and Gajuma... Huhm.... She certainly could appreciate valuing strength, but the idea of 'purging the weak' seemed kind of questionable. Just what would it mean to be weak, to him? Having bone accessories sounded pretty damn brutal, too, though also perhaps kind of cool. She wasn't sure where she stood on that, exactly. Nonetheless though, the mention of feeling something was amiss made her wonder if something else was going on that none of them knew. Well, she guessed that she'd find out soon enough.
When asked about any other questions, Ophelia would speak up once more, asking "Where are Akala's and Gajuma's territories? Are there any other local wild digimon and their territories in the area, that we should know of?" If she had an idea of the tribes' territories, then she could probably better scavenge without offending anyone, right? "If I wanted to go scavenging to help with the food, what should I look for n' watch out for?"

Politely, quietly, and attentively, the whole group took in information rather than speaking. However, they weren't getting the same information. Tadayoshi trusted the captain to remember everything important from the briefing. While he tried his best to listen when possible, he was also attempting to analyze his allies. While his eyes were on Ophelia he thought to himself, That one's in good spirits, isn't she? The gears spun in his head as he listened to her questions. They seemed to focus on her ability to leave the shelter. Good questions, but also revealing. She thinks herself a surveyor, scavenger, explorer. I don't know how that'll help yet, but it probably will. Quietly, Tadayoshi started to dig into Commandramon's pack and extracted a little throat radio, which he passed to Ophelia knowing that she intended to go spend time away. If he learned anything about a team effort, it was that communication was everything. Commandramon, meanwhile, knew what was happening but didn't react to it.
Of course, being quiet didn't spare Bero from Tadayoshi's profiling. Even silence was telling. That one is problematic. If he was interested in being part of a team, he'd at least try to fake it. Renamon's the real expert on reading people, but something tells me she'll agree with me: we should watch that one, make sure he actually pulls his weight. Tadayoshi glared. The Spadamon seems good enough, and she knows him. Maybe I'll ask her later what she thinks of Bero.
"Hey, if there's a fight goin' down, I'm in!" Shouted the voice of Angel, a BlackTerriermon inside the Xros Loader on the table.
"Don't interrupt," Commandramon curtly corrected her. As he did, his camouflage began to shift from digital urban to a color scheme and pattern more suited for the jungle.
Tetsu and Gryz weren't free from Tadayoshi's scrutiny either. That one's the strangest of them all. I'm a kid, but he's... just a child. It almost feels wrong to take his money and let him do this even if he does go to the gym way too much. Someone trusted him to handle this, though. The boy pursed his lips thoughtfully. Only one I can't get a read on is Gryz. My guess is he's the submissive partner between them. Pairs like them always seem to have one leader and one follower, and that leader usually has no fur.
Asked about more questions, Commandramon glanced at Yoshi, Jetmon, and the Loader screen ensemble, none of whom posed another inquiry. His answer was, "Not at this time," for his group.

Bero was barraged with a friendly treatment. Not only did she remember him, she taunted him with the offer of a battle, saying they never had a round two. He flared up in anger, his cloak lighting aflame and despite the lighting of the room, a blue hue emanated from him with ease as it burned brightly, verbally retaliating to the female spadamon. “Never had a round two? Your dumb spadagetti-coded friend took a premature victory because we fought on unfair ground. I’ll sho-Ngh!”
The BlackGabumon calmed himself down and let the fire of his capes die down, the pulse of calm once more starting from his horn. His look towards Ophelia remained one of disgust. “I’m here to survive and not be in your way or let you be in mine. While i’d love to show you what i can do, it’s not smart, and i don’t have a damned deathwish.”
He turned away from Ophelia and tried to sigh off his anger, although it wouldn’t work. He was just pissed off now, and it wasn’t about to fade easily. She did not need to get to know Bero, even if she was a worthy fighter. Dumb Spadamons were always about being nice, friendly and honourable. No point in bothering with her. A voice from the Human’s device, sounding like a digimon’s voice, challenged for battle. Bero -wanted- to, and he felt he honestly should, but he knew he couldn’t. It was dumb. There was a mission with survival on the stake that went first. He listened to the human child and bearmon giving him the mission.
Ignoring his surroundings was hard, but Bero managed to at least listen to the tips. He started to surmise why the issues with the aggressive tribe chieftain, Gajuma, was occuring. It seems a head on attack wasn’t possible, how dull and complicated. If this Gajuma believes in will of the strongest and acting however he wants because he’s strong enough, all this would be a lot easier than some weird question of honor and whatnot. “Can we expect Gajuma’s tribesmen to attack on sight? Should we be willing to attack them on sight? I feel that isn’t the case given the description of the mission sofar, but it would simplify things to a single function.”

"Calm," Gryz immediately chided the two participant. "If you want to spar then do it in the shelter later. For now it's not good at all to tire yourself before even getting there. In bad case, the moment you stepped out from this train and get to the shelter, you'll be ambushed by some random Digimons. The population ultimately caps at Adult stage, but their teamwork is quite superb." Still, Tetsu noticed the stare at him immediately. He smiled, raising an eyebrow. "What's up? Got any question or something else?" his tone sounded a bit... different from his previous, slightly meek tone. This one felt... more like a child desiring to overturn any dismissal of someone older. One that felt like a boy ready to make the older ones approve of him. Gryz did not say anything when Tadayoshi looked at him, but instead just "looked" directly at him, face still as calm as usual. It's hard to say that he looked or not, considering the fact that his eyes nearly always closed. If the boy is like a lion cub ready to play, the bear is calm, yet seem to be aware of the assessing look. "...Alright, about the territory... hmmm... Please look at this. This is not quite as accurate as I'd like, but this is approximation." Tetsu showed the picture of a map, which showed only four most important location. Volcano on the center, a camp with what looked like spiked settlements near lava river, the shelter to the southeast, and the settlement on the east... Tetsu immediately clicked on the second settlement. "This one is Leader Akala's tribe. It's located on higher elevated ground compared to leader Gajuma's on the opposite side of the island. The way up is steep, and as you know that's why I made the shelter project. By the way, although they're close to the shore, the area on that shore is very high up. It's unlikely for any merchants to get their job done if they cross through the sea from this point. This area too is kind of affected with very treacherous waves. that's why, the entry point is supposedly on the south... or closer to Leader Gajuma's side. Leader Gajuma's tribe is in lower level... but they're aggressive, as you all already heard. If you pass the lava river near their settlement, that's when Leader Gajuma can exert his tribe rule: They're free to attack you on sight. They're free to do anything to you. Killing your assailant is fine, as long as you already talked it out, but I honestly would rather not. No killing please. Beat black and blue is fine. To Gajuma's tribe, living in shame is worse than death, but if they take away their own life, then they're tainting the kindness of the victor, which is a bigger no no. However, should your life be in danger, where elimination of target is crucial to your survival, I authorize any termination, but no absorbing. Is that clear?
Oh right, as for Gajuma's tribe... he believes that if they act on someone else's territory, then the rule of that land's owner takes precedence. Because the shelter is technically mine, so... I'll state that you guys can take prisoner, but please don't torture. No killing too, unless as stated before, if they got too much and your hand is tied unless they're killed then kill them. Any attackers is to be attacked on sight. There will be a megaphone in the shelter, so please use that to give warning first. If they doesn't follow your demand, attack them. One time warning is enough, but if you want to give more warning I'll leave it to you guys.As for locale... there are smaller Digimons unaffiliated with both sides, but... I think they're less of an issue. Those Digimons tends to... have no cohesion behind them. They acted on their own... and even if they band together or any of these bad guys behind them incited them to attack, most likely they'll be easy to dispatch." Gryz this time takes the stage. He rolled several items. "For purpose of the mission, we'll supply you all with our team's produced items. They're... I guess it's fine for any of you to keep them if you want. Think those as souvenir perhaps? The first one..."
He put on the table a bottle with green liquid inside. It smelled nice, slightly minty, but also floral-y. "Paste Medica, one for each of you. These can be used three times, apply it on places where you're cut or wounded, as long as it's nothing serious it will be immediately cured. Next..." the next one, he put a ball bundle of what looked like spider thread, but very durable looking. "Ariadne Thread. You only need to say 'home is here' while holding the thread bundle. Those who want to use it should touch the ball together, if you don't, then it won't affect you. If you want to return back, just say "home I'll be". Even if you separate, as long as you touched the ball together, you should be able to regroup as easily.. I'll leave you with three, because more than this sadly won't be effective. It's just one time usage per ball, so make sure to ration them carefully... by the way it's unable to be used when you're in battle. Which means if you're attacked but haven't attacked yourself, you still can return home. Pretty neat huh? It also cannot be set in dangerous zone. So make sure to pick your places right." and then last one, he put what looked like a music box. "This one should ward off any wild Digimons, or even anyone who is hostile to you. It renders you invisible and you can take a breather. If you set it in the shelter, the shelter will also vanish from their sight. However it can't be used mid battle to run. If you attack it'll also ends preemptively. Sadly I only can give you one of this. It's very expensive. Well, then... any other question before we go to reward and whatnots?"

Ophelia would notice pretty quickly that she was being watched - a certain gut instinct, the feeling of the fur on the back of her neck standing up. She'd glance over to Tadayoshi as he watched her and analyzed her - and she couldn't help but find the gaze a little puzzling; tilting her head one way with a soft "Mrrp?" and raising an eyebrow at him. She was about to simply mark him down as maybe a little weird, but then he'd dig out the throat radio and pass it to Ophelia; which would make her blink a little, gazing down at the throat radio in her hands. Being the technologically illiterate Spadamon that she was, and having never seen such a thing before, she'd raise an eyebrow at it - tilting it and rolling it between her hands one way and then the other - before glancing up at Tadayoshi and asking "What's this?" It looked like it might've been supposed to go around her neck, like a necklace... But she wasn't about to try anything until she knew how this thing worked. She learned her lesson from her tamernet issues about messing with stuff she didn't understand!
On the other hand though, Bero would proceed to retort at Ophelia, and she'd blink a bit - almost as though she was initially unsure how to handle it, even if she already knew that Bero wasn't exactly the most friendly digimon. She'd quickly regain her composure though, and would simply blow a raspberry in Bero's direction, "I'm not saying going at each other's throats, just a 'lil playwrestling is fine," She'd clarify, before concluding with a shrug and a grin "But hell, fine by me, I'm sure there'll be something or someone that I can practice with later." as she turned back towards Gryz and Tadayoshi.
She recognized Bero to be an asshole - though as far as she saw it, he'd been more bark than bite thus far - and of the times that he did fight, he wasn't necessarily picking on in-training or fresh kids or whatever. He was either duking it out with other similarly-leveled rookie digimon, or getting his ass kicked by them; so it wasn't like he was a bully either, as far as she saw it. Either way though, he was here to survive, too, then why the hell was he going on a mission with tougher digimon, anyways? She'd hum a little to herself in a thoughtful fashion as she pondered it - before supposing that this BlackGabumon was probably gonna be an enigma to her for a long while. Ah well...
Ophelia would exhale a bit, and with Gryz's chide, would stand to attention and mention "I mean, I did say once we got settled down, and 'assuming nothing big happens'!" in a casual tone, shrugging a little in a 'i didn't do anything wrong' type fashion. Nonetheless, she'd be listening intently to the duo's explanation; peering to the map with visible curiosity. Huhm... There was a decent amount of space between their shelter and Gajuma's tribe, so honestly, she didn't see the point of why Gajuma would be making such a big fuss - it wasn't like the territories were too close together! She would otherwise be nodding along as Tetsu explained how they were allowed to handle the situation of engaging other digimon, as well as the status of local digimon - figuring she'll stick to the south-southeast when foraging, to avoid getting on anyones' bad sides.
And then, finally, came the supplies - Ophelia would perk up curiously at this; she knew that KIZNA provided supplies for team members going on missions, but she didn't actually use them before, given that this was her first mission! She'd take her Paste Medica and Ariadne Thread, looking both over - and sniffing both curiously. The paste smelled really good - she didn't have any strong opinions on the floralness of the smell, but the minty scent it had was really nice! Her tail would swish a little as she took a second to enjoy the scent - given her strong senses - before pocketing both the thread and the paste. These seemed useful for sure - particularly the paste, though the Thread she only really saw use for as maybe a way to get home quicker, or to get out of a tight situation... Though then again, that was probably it's purpose anyways.
And finally, with the music box, Ophelia would peer to it curiously - it seemed pretty cool, and even if it ends upon someone attacking, that'd still give you a chance to ambush someone, yeah? Not many digimon had insta-reactions, after all! Maybe she'd have to look into it sometime, if she ever went on additional missions! As far as any other questions went though, Ophelia would shake her head. "Nothing that I can think of right now," She'd mention, glancing back to the throat radio in her hands as she did - she was getting an awful lot of gadgets today, wasn't she?

When confronted by Tetsu, Tadayoshi shook his head and gave no indication that he was ashamed of being caught in the act. "Not right now." Frankly, he was relieved to see that Gryz could and did, indeed, speak. Clearly this presentation was still Tetsu's show, but at least the Bearmon was at least a little more than a quiet bodyguard.
Meanwhile, Commandramon approached Ophelia and withdrew a second radio from his pack to demonstrate its use. However, he was silent about it since Tetsu was still speaking. He explained how to put it on nonverbally by putting his on himself, slowly, with pauses, ending with the earpiece. Once it was on, he showed her the push-to-talk button that would go under her jaw by touching his own, then letting it go. He ended by showing her which channel he was switching his to, hoping she would understand to put hers on the same frequency.
After that, he went through the same procedure with Bero, all but pushing it into the BlackGabumon's hand. His face and body language said it all: Bero was part of the team one way or another, and on this team communication wasn't going to be optional.
"I understand. Excessive force would undermine your relationship with the locals, which is your very problem in the first place." Tadayoshi made no further mention of how it was wrong to kill or even load, giving away that the pragmatic angle was the only one he appeared interested in. "We'll keep our heads cool." Commandramon packed away a pack of paste and the spool of thread in his pack as Tadayoshi shared, "We have some medical ability, too, so I would advise you all to let my team treat you instead of the paste unless for some reason you can't reach us in good time." He said that while gawking in the music box in the middle with some sense of wonder. This child definitely had some powerful backers. Tempting as it was to use, Tadayoshi pushed it toward Ophelia and Bero. "They're also well-trained in stealth. I'd hope a mission like this doesn't call for that, but I think we need this box least of all here. One of you should keep it for now."
After tucking away the extra supplies, Commandramon glanced at his lieutenant, then his General. Neither of them had anything else to say. "No further questions."

The initial reply to Bero’s snapping was the Bearmon telling him to calm down. Bero’s retort was, short, sweet and silent. He gave the Bearmon a nasty look, a few small blue fires lighting up close to hi horn again, before he dispelled them. By the Royal Knights, why was everyone so high and mighty and telling Bero what to do here? He knew why, it’s because he accepted a mission and missions would logically have higher ups, but that didn’t mean it didn’t piss him off.
He didn’t retort further though. Retaliation was only going to make things worse for him. For everyone else, too, but him more than anyone. The annoyance though, he couldn’t stop. What did they expect when they treated him like that. “We’ll have our fight, Spadamon. Another place, another time.”
He wanted to guarantee that that would happen, and let Ophelia know that. He basically spat out the word Spadamon. It was assured there would be no love lost by Bero’s hands, that was for sure. Given, that was in no way Ophelia’s fault, Bero was just an asshole, as pretty much everyone in this room had understood by now. Luckily, Bero wasn’t getting any particularly unforgiving looks as far as he was concerned.
He listened to the remainder of the mission giver’s explanation. It was nothing he wasn’t used too, and in his irritation, he found it hard to stop himself from muttering his reply. The mutter was only semi-quiet, so anyone who cared could easily listen to it. “No killing, no absorbing, no evil cruelties… I’ve never done any of those anyway because of people like them…”
While muttering, he had stared at the Commandramon and his interaction with Ophelia with a lifted eyebrow. It was then that the Commandramon approached him. The look the Commandramon gave him, and how he planned to forcefully hand Bero a communication device told Bero more than enough. He took the device and didn’t spare a moment in easily putting it on him, showing a quick understanding of how it might work. Given, it required some small adjustments to make sure it would stick to his snout and just the front of his neck, and he carefully finagled with it until he could fit it on without having it touch the back of his head or neck, seeing that would just incinerate the poor device.
They explained the last matter at hand for now. The devices they had, offering them to some of the mission participants. It seemed the Spadamon, the Human leading the group and Bero himself were the preferred receivers. The human informed them of his groups capabilities, telling them what they should do instead of using the items where possible. Bero looked at them with a more neutral expression, that is to say, still unfriendly but less horribly so. “I know my way around laying low as well, been doing it for a lifetime. I would probably be too stubborn to use these items, even if the time is right, so don’t give something important like the music box to me. Not that i have anywhere to keep it anyway.”
He didn’t spare the other group members much other expressions or civilities, taking his salve and thread so he had at least something in case of life-threatening danger. It was then that the mission givers suggested talking the reward, another something that Bero was fundamentally uninterested in. All he wanted was to spend at least some time observing the volcano itself as directly as possible, the reward was already his capability of being here with stronger digimon which would at least be semi-interested in his own survival. Although, the group being lead by the human had this air of ruthless efficiency to them. He may have to gain their interest in his survival… He didn’t give Tetsu or Gryz a direct verbal reply to their inquiry of more questions. He had none.

Hmmm, seem no one have any question for now, but just in case...
"Alright before we gone to the rewards, I'll show you how this works..." Gryz took one more thread just to be safe. "In case of partnered, there's no need for everyone to touch the ball... just the human or just the partner alone is enough. In case of the general I think just you alone is enough. In case of twins, same case also apply. Just one of the twin touching them is enough.
First point: Remember that you can't use this thread to save people you encounter on the road. Those who want to use it, must use it together.
Second point: One party only can use three threads, and one will be consumed whenever everyone who used it returned. You cannot use another thread until everyone returned, thus expiring the thread's power. Each one of the user only can return once. So you can't... reuse the thread just because someone haven't returned. It's very crucial to remember this.
Third point: Home is here activates it, so make sure everyone who are interested in using this put their hand together on the thread bundle before saying 'Home is Here'. Tetsu, would you be kind to help?"
"Sure."
Both Tetsu and Gryz put their finger on the ball. It's not big enough for team more than five people to touch, so it's seem that only finger touching it would be enough.
"Home is here," Gryz chanted. The thread immediately unraveled, leaving nothing but a small pin that seem to be sticking on the table.
"We'll leave for a moment. For the sake of the demonstration, we'll be treated as two different individuals."
And with that Tetsu headed to the next room over, and Gryz headed to another room. As Gryz left the door open, they could hear him chant 'Home I'll be'.
And then he returned. Part of the thread returned to the pin. Tetsu however isn't there.
"Fourth point: If you instead chant 'Home we'll be", all party member that touched the thread will return to 'home'. It's an emergency measure in case you're separated, or something dangerous happened to 'Home'. Now with that explanation I hope it's clear enough."
Tetsu appeared few seconds later. It's seem he finally chanted the incantation. But that's beside the point.
Now we're approaching the shore. You guys should go toward the northeast for a bit... Ophelia's D-Nexus have the coordinate for the shelter, so I don't think you will get lost. Sadly we had to drop you on the shore, because honestly... a Grand Locomon on size this big probably gonna alert our enemy. we'll be hiding somewhere for three days and three nights. I'll be available for contact through the shelter phone, the walkie talkie or the D-Nexus." Tetsu told them.
"...As for the reward..." Gryz put four items. "...You can pick one of any of these four, but these two..." he pointed at a gas lamp and similarly looking gas lamp but far more beautiful looking "are for one person each. Their ability is to heal your fatigue... but this legendary one is stronger than its prototype. The prototype only makes healing more potent, but the legendary type would cure you of some fatigue while blasting enemy away. It only can be activated three times however... and each activation have some breaks in between...
...as for the rest I guess... it's 50000 bits, or some extra data to push you guys to next level of evolution... No guarantee that it will works though."
"Attention to all passenger, we'll arrive in our destination in fifteen minutes."
"...Well, if you don't have any more question, time to camp!"

Ophelia would glance over to Bero with his own retort and annoyance, though it didn't seem to worry her too much, or like she had any hard feelings. She'd just roll her eyes then grin at him, mentioning "Looking forward to it, then!" in regards to their eventual fight. With all the talk Bero gave, she sure hoped he had the fight to back it up - she enjoyed being challenged, after all! Though, she was also looking forward to spar at the camp, so having to wait came as a bit of a disappointment, too. She supposed she'd just do some solo practicing once they had some freetime - unless anyone in Tadayoshi's gang was down to spar, that was. She just didn't want to get rusty or too lax, if they were gonna be playing guard to the shelter!
As Commandramon approached Ophelia, she would perk up and glance in his direction. It took a second for her to realize what he was doing - between having to pay attention to both him and Tetsu, as well as not quite understanding how the throat radio worked. However, once she caught on, she'd watch him carefully - mirroring his actions and seeming to catch on pretty quickly; occasionally glancing at herself the best she could, and then him, to make sure she was doing everything right. Once everything was set up, she'd press the push-to-talk button and make a soft "Mrrrp?" to test it, and make sure she got everything right, whilst avoiding being disruptive to the others. This radio, overall, seemed a bit curious - more simple than the D-Nexus for sure, which she liked - as fun as the D-Nexus was to figure out, she didn't want another complicated device to fiddle with!
And then finally, came Tetsu and Gryz; she would watch as the two demonstrated the functions of the Ariadne's Thread; going every which way and then porting back with it. The thread, overall, seemed a little more interesting now - though she couldn't help but wonder a few things. Not important things, given the mission - so she kept these things to herself. But she wondered if there was any limit to how long the thread could get, imagine if someone went from one end of the Digital World to the other, with such a thread! Or if someone set a thread and just left it for a few days - if she set her own thread, but never used it in the mission, could she visit the shelter to see how things are going later on down the line? She decided to herself that she'd ask these after the mission - or maybe text Ryouta later.
Next was the rewards. Ophelia would perk a little and peer to each one with noticeable interest and curiosity - particularly the lamps. She wasn't sure what she'd pick for a reward, at least not right now, but... The lamps seemed really interesting, and they smelled really nice! Ophelia couldn't help but noticeably sniff the air as the lamps were brought out - noting the warm, flowery smells that they both had; it was all soothing, overall... The bits, too, seemed like a bunch- certainly more than she ever recalled earning from the occasional odd job and whatnot! And a little boost of data could be good, too, for reaching that next stage sooner. All in all, the rewards all seemed good - and she was unsure what she'd go for, at least for now. Maybe she'd make up her mind once they reached the end of this mission.
With the announcement that they'd be reaching their destination relatively soon though, Ophelia would perk to attention - "No questions here, I'm fucking ready!" She'd exclaim happily, both hands fist pumping into the air. She realized that neither Bero nor Tadayoshi had any interest in the music box, and so she supposed she'd hang onto it - taking it and packing it with her other things for now. Maybe she'd get use out of it, maybe she won't - who knows.
Either way, she was ready and raring to go!
... Or... "... Actually... Since I'm in KIZNA, I can ask for materials to make stuff at that fancy forge, right?" She'd ask - something occurring to her just then. "What kind of materials could I get here?"

The truth was that Tadayoshi couldn't make heads or tails of the Ariadne thread demonstration. However, he did trust that at least one person on the mission team understood and could explain it later. There wasn't a point in dwelling on that one thing when there was so much to know. Hopefully by everyone knowing parts, the whole could be accurately enough assembled. This KIZNA is truly remarkable. Silence might want to see about doing business if their equipment proves reliable.
As for the reward? Well, he didn't have to decide now. What a hefty sum he was working for, though. Normally that might have been a motivator, but Tadayoshi tensed at the sight of the display. He'd been promised big money for simple work before, and naturally it didn't go as simply as promised... and he didn't get paid, either. Well, that sure wasn't happening again. I don't like the thought of roughing up an 11-year-old for a lot of reasons, the top of which is I'd probably lose if it's just me. But we won't get cheated again either. Of course, if Tetsu was honorable he wouldn't have to worry about any of that. More importantly, Either way, I already know this is gonna go sideways somehow with a reward like that. The universe is not that nice.
Ophelia's question wasn't relevant to Silence, so once it and any of Bero's questions were answered he suggested, "The map makes it look like we aren't traveling through unfriendly woods, but I think the safest way there is to travel in our vehicle. I suppose Ophelia would act as navigator if you agree. Lieutenant?" Tadayoshi transferred some bits from his digivice to the jet digimon. "Get everyone snacks for everyone. I don't wanna get going on any empty stomachs." He looked up at the ceiling. "You all, find somewhere to plug in. Same reason." They all detached from the ceiling and floated slowly toward the ground, stopping an inch over it. The single-file line they formed as they each individually beeped and exited was so neat and equidistant that someone with OCD would have been brought a sense of peace from it - or someone with or without OCD might have thought it was a bit creepy. "I want all my callsigns except the captain in my loader before we disembark. That's fifteen minutes. All but Top, dismissed!" Jetmon levelled out on Yoshi's arm, turned on her thrusters, and began to jet out the cabin and down the hallway.
"And me, sir?"
"Go suit up." Commandramon nodded and took a step away, but Tadayoshi added a stern, "Also," followed by tossing a small metallic object at the reptile. He caught it, but only just. When he opened his paws he found out it was a key. "You're driving."
The soldier smirked. "Yes, sir."
As Tadayoshi followed the dragon, he spoke to his digivice, "Radio check. If you're receiving, acknowledge." If the radios were working properly, Bero and Ophelia would hear his voice after he'd left the compartment. If they understood, they'd say something to prove both they could hear him and he could hear them.
