Introducing... the Helpers! (B-Rank)
|
Post by Adrian Boriker on Nov 28, 2021 5:13:24 GMT
An advertisement video is shown... it begins with a white background, showing different images corresponding which what is being said by the feminine voice in the video.
"Modern life can be such a hassle. With how fast we are progressing, sometimes it can become a bit much for the average person to keep up with. That is why Z-Tec is proud to introduce... the Helper!"
The first Helper is shown on screen... only it looks suspiciously like a lifeless Hagurumon. As the video goes on, more and more recognizable Digimon are shown on screen.
"Helpers come in many different shapes and sizes thanks to our advanced holographic technology, giving these holograms mass and allowing them to help our society thrive even more! They can assist with the mundane like setting up appointments or keeping reminders, or they can do as much as assist in construction or personal safety. The range of these wonderful beings are endless!"
A date and time for the official premiere and press conference of the Helpers is shown on screen, as well as a location: the Z-Tec company building in Shibuya.
"Z-Tec: providing a better world through technology!" This was an ad that was playing on the jumbo screen in Scramble Crossing in the middle of the afternoon, with Adrian patiently waiting underneath. Not too far away would be the Z-Tec building itself, which was of course surrounded by news outlets and tech enthusiasts. Still, the presentation was still quite a few minutes away, so it had time to get even crazier. Adrian just had his arms crossed as he glared at the building's logo.
"I just don't get it," Shoutmon said from within Adrian's D-Arc, "how in the world are these humans able to get away with selling Digimon?"
"Not a clue," Adrian responded, "that's why we're doing this. Three others are supposed to meet us here, then once we debrief, we're gonna sneak into Z-Tec and find out what's happening."
"...do you think it's that Grandmaster guy from the Tamernet stream?"
"Not sure... I sure as hell hope not." All that was left to do at this point was to wait for the others... Adrian would've sent them messages on where to meet up, so hopefully they'd be able to spot Adrian out when they arrived.

"Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug."
"Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug." The two Holo-suited digimon chanted as Shi walked over towards the crossing with a cup of coffee in his hands chugging it down like that was just a normal thing to do, Shi wasn't exactly the best at staying awake in the afternoon considering the fact that most of his classes were in the morning so coming out here like this required energy that coffee was willing to give him.
Shi finished long before he would get to the meeting point, tossing the cup up and away into the proper waste receptacle nearby while Yuudai and Yasuo cheered him on. "It's just a cup of coffee, chill out." Shi recommended causing the two of them to grow silent as Shi put his hands in his pockets and started walking up alongside them towards the crossing.
It was there he saw the AD for the first time, yup no matter how you look at it that was royally fucked up. Visible anger was obvious on Yuudai's and Yasuo's face while Shi had his same cold expression looking up at the AD. "C'mon guys, lets go sort this out." With that Shi made his way over to the building where he saw the person who sent the call to action, throwing up a lazy wave as he approached.
"Yo, you Adrian?" Shi asked as the trio went up towards him, if he wasn't then well. Oh heck.

Zipping through Shibuya in her rookie form of Hinookamimon a spirit wielder and agent of AEGIS normally known as Stacy was heading for a place called Z-tec. After having her brothers on alert in America for anything unusual digimon related, it appeared as if they had struck gold as a commercial with a Hagurumon looking lifeless was shown and the company was selling digimon it seemed. Then there was this message from someone named Adrian asking for help in this matter so she offered her assistance.
Soon she caught sight of a crowd of people near the building she was heading for and the white wolf shuddered at the thought of being even near that crowd as she and crowds did not mix. Making her way just out of sight of the crowd she dedigivolved back into her human form. Soon she spotted whom she assumed was Adrian as another stranger asked if he was. Taking her chances, Stacy slunk out of her hiding place and approached before asking "Are either of you Adrian? I'm here regarding digimon at Z-tec." The image of the Hagurumon looking lifeless was making her skin crawl. It was like digimon that were infected with the Grandmaster's virus. She honestly hoped that was not the case but since she heard nothing about people being in the ruins of the Grandmaster's last hideaway it made her more suspicious of this company.

The other "agents" standing underneath the massive digital billboard would have their polite interaction distracted from when they heard the sharp whistle of something very fast and very heavy flying above their heads. Something that looked mostly like a cinderblock slammed into the center of the billboard, shattering it with long, expanding limbs of cracks moving outward in every direction. The ad was instantly shut up as Zack walked out, his custom jacket unworn and thrown over his shoulder, his helmet slung over his shoulder, held by a hinge of two fingers
"Stacy. Shi and Friends. You must be Adrian then." He said, already knowing two of the assembled quartet making the process of deduction easy enough as he held out his free hand for Adrian to shake. Marigold peeked out of his shirt pocket in her Puroromon form, waving with a big grin on her insectoid face to the assembled crew. Sorry for the lack of warning, Stacy at least can tell you that I like to make my entrances and statements of intent pretty loud and visible. I have to imagine that's why you called for the superhero of all people. I have Marigold Stingmon up in the alleyway across the way before we made our way over. It'll at least shut that thing up for a little while and might send the right kind of message to whoever we're gunning for...though I think Stacy and I already have suspiscions...and a bit of payback left unshared." The normally joyful young man growled, putting on his best Batman or Daredevil.

It wouldn't take long for those who offered to help Adrian to arrive. First was Shi and who were presumed to be his twin Digimon partners in holosuit. Immediately after would be Stacy, who Adrian thought looked familiar. "Yeah, I'm Adrian," the gogglehead would say, "Now we just need to wait for our third volunteer to show up and we can form a plan. I'm sure they won't be much longer now-"
And right as Adrian was talking, what appeared to be a cinderblock flew above the group's heads and crashed into the jumbo screen above them. "W-What the hell?!" Adrian couldn't help but say out loud. This was followed up by their final partner Zack, who seemed to know Shi and Stacy already. He was dressed as if he were some kind of Kamen Rider, even down to the helmet which he held in his hand. As cute (and equally unnerving for Adrian) as the Puroromon was, Adrian couldn't ignore that Zack was responsible for a HUGE amount of property damage, which those as the conference and the local law enforcement weren't keen on ignoring.
"What the hell were you- nevermind, we have other problems now," Adrian said, deciding it wasn't worth getting angry at the Kamen Rider right now since the police were starting to walk towards the scene. He frantically looked around before booking it to a nearby alley, expecting the others to follow him. The whole point was to be COVERT...!
After the others would meet up, Adrian could finally start the debriefing. "Thank you for responding to my message. I'm sure you all saw that ad before someone decided to throw a cinderblock at it. It should be clear what we need to do: get in there and find out what's going on. But what we need more than anything is a plan. What I'm thinking is once the conference starts, we'll sneak in through the back or secondary exit while everyone's distracted. But after that... I don't know where any damning evidence would even be. What do you all think?"

Shi walked right over to Adrian in order to learn about all this stuff going on, then one by one things seemed to of gotten worse and worse, first a human seemed to slunk out of the darkness and approach them, which honestly might've been more suspicious had Shi not already been fully aware of humans who would do that sorta thing, plus he knew this human as well as Stacy, she didn't seem to pay him much mind at the moment so Shi didn't either.
That wasn't what was worse about the situation though, what was worse was in a so called stealth operation suddenly the very offensive AD was shut up in the most extra way possible, shattering the entire screen which felt a bit mean to Shi, after all the company that makes stuff like that wasn't in the know how, breaking their stuff just seemed like it'd be more suspicious then anything, unplugging it or something would've achived a similar result he felt, lazily turning around to face the unmasked hero, savior of the people from downtown television was some sorta Rider or Sentai Ranger, definitely not a licensed one however so hopefully they would've have to worry about copyright on top of smashing that TV.
It was Zack who Shi met exactly one time before, so he decided to just take his word for it that this was common behavior for him. "Yo." Shi said with a small two finger salute towards him. Seemingly not worried at all about the whole breaking a TV thing, at least for now.
Normally Shi wasn't supposed to follow strangers into alleys, that was literally one of the few things that his mother had asked him not to do but he was sure this was a special situation involving breaking and entering which his mom also asked him not to do. Sorry Ms. Namika.
"Probably somewhere in like an upper office or something, since I don't think many employees would know exactly what they're dealing with." Yasuo suggested with a small shrug, he wasn't sure if he was right or not but that was his best guest.
"Either that or somewhere with like, a buncha guards. After all you don't broadcast something like that without expecting like, 50 tamers to ransack your door." Yuudai assumed there was going to be heavy resistance, he wasn't exactly a stealth mon but he did have a valid point.

Things seemed very calm at first that is until a cinderblock came flying through the air crashing through the billboard followed by an all too familiar face came into the scene. Stacy facepalmed while Adrian layed into Zack as stealth had now become much harder. Sure the ad irked her too but it seemed she had far more control that the tamer turned superhero. She was definitely glad she was in a good mood because she was getting the sneaking suspicion that by the end of this operation the mood for her would surely shift.
Watching Adrian look around before following him into a nearby alley she listened to the debriefing as well as Yasuo and Yuudai's suggestions and they were good ones that definitely made sense but the trick was how to get to the 'Goods' as it were was the biggest question. "The biggest problem I see now that the locals have been stirred up is how to go about sneaking in all Metal Gear style. Hmm, say Adrian, is there any info at all regarding the building's architecture as I was thinking one way we could gain access is through the ventilation system. I have a form that's pretty small and I can get in small ducts to avoid cameras and guards while snooping about." Stacy said willing to ignore the cinderblock issue since if things still went according to plan then it would be a mute point then.

"Adrian, that's what you said your name was in your message. I'm going to be totally honest with you. For me? That IS covert. If this bastard is who I think it is then he and I have some scores to settle and I intend to settle them. if you want me to be the firework while you guys get things done, I can do that, but I didn't become a superhero to skulk around in the dark. I sent my message, I intend to send more before the night is through. I'm not trying to sabotage so if you mark the way, I'll follow it to the best of my skills." he said, placing the rationale for why he conducted himself the way he did right out there in the open. he didn't want to fight about it, he didn't see there being much TO fight about. he simply slung his hand up, fitting the helmet over his head in one smooth motion, crossing his arms over his chest.
Marigold looked up at him, furrowing her brow. She was visibly upset by something. Her father had jumped at this call and not in the good way, not in the fun "it's the batsignal" kind of way he usually did when someone called for his help. She had never seen him this angry before. never seen him this VIOLENT.
"Come on guys, we're all here for the same goal. if we start wringing each other's necks then we're just giving this guy what he wants." She squeaked, hopefully trying to mediate before things bubbled over.

"Your idea of covert is terrible," Adrian bluntly told Zack, after the group had gotten to a safer position since passersby were investigating the sudden cinderblock shattering of the jumbo screen. "We didn't need something like that, everyone was going to be distracted anyways by the conference. I asked for help on this because I love Digimon and I don't want them to be treated this way, not to destroy public property in order to settle some score with someone who did me wrong or for justice or whatever."
Suddenly a light shot out of Adrian's Digivice, allowing Shoutmon to take a physical form. "Okay okay, let's all calm down now. We're teammates, right? We aren't supposed to be fighting each other..." Though Shoutmon did hear what happened, and he thought it was pretty stupid as well. "I'm Shoutmon, Adrian's Digimon partner. It's great to meet you all!" The red dragon spoke with quite an upbeat tone, it was clear that this 'mon was full of energy.
Now that that was hopefully out of the way, now was the time to start forming a plan. Yuudai and Yasuo suggested that the info they needed would probably be in an upper office, or an area with a bunch of guards. "We'll need to be sure though..."
"Oh! Maybe the computer on the main floor will be able to tell us where everything is?"
"...like from Fighting Fantasy Seven?"
"Hey, couldn't hurt to try!"
Adrian sighed. "Well, we'll be entering the building anyways, so might as well. The building has a side entrance we can walk into while everyone's distracted by the conference... is what I would say if there wasn't a guard by that door right now." Sure enough, there was a security guard that had now just walked up to the side entrance of the Z-Tec office building, surely because of Zack's stunt.
"It's just one human. We could probably knock him unconscious."
"Or we could do something less illegal and have someone or something distract them while we slip through the door." Whatever the group did, they had to do it soon. The conference looks like it'll be ready to go live at any minute...

There was a lot of talking of having everyone calm down but from what Shi could see, either that or at least feel, there seemed to be only two people who were bothered by what just went down. Which fair enough even having two people be in a disagreement was bad enough with a group this small. Shi psychically told Yuudai to go stop this for him, well not exactly he just gave him a look and Yuudai responded. "It happened, we can't make it un-happen. Might as well just keep moving forward and try and be a little more cautious." Yuudai suggested, they all had the same goal after all even if their methods were a little different.
So their plans were for right now go to the main floor and look, go through the vents either that or send a lotta messages. Shi cracked his neck and let out a small sigh, this was going to be a long night he could just tell. "I'd prefer to beat up as few humans as possible in this situation." Shi voiced his lack of want for beating the tar outta people, which was usually his opposite response to stuff like this.
"True, for all we know these guards don't know what they're handling, tricked like the public is about the origin. They don't deserve to be hurt for doing their job." Yasuo echoed, even Yuudai seemed in agreement. At least unless they got proof they did know exactly what they were doing in which case oh boy.
"I got an idea." She reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out his digivice, flipping through the screen for a few moments before landing on an icon that looked like a boxing glove. "I got this for Yuudai, forms a harmless copy of either Yuudai or Yasuo and fights them with their techniques. You guys hide, I summon this and command it to run, point it out to the guard and he chases after it thinking one of the helpers got away." It was a decently solid plan, Shi would make sure to direct it further into the alley and cancel it once they got inside.
"Either that or I can use this to hopefully find a window or something that isn't locked and enter that way from above." Shi mentioned holding out his wrist with the Anti-grav device on it, he also pulled out and showed his grapple gun from his other pocket just in case that was also needed.
Though it was also then that Shi flipped on the analog jammer in his pants pocket, it usually masked him from digimon so he doesn't know if it'd work in this situation but it was probably a good idea to have it on rather then off just in case.

One thing Stacy agreed with was that infighting amongst the small group would get them nowhere which wouldn't be any help for the poor digimon in the situation they were in. How lifeless and zombie like they seemed in the ad made her blood boil but this time she was determined to be at least one person to keep their cool as she didn't want to cause an issue like the last time she lost her temper.
As Shi and his partners discussed beating up as few humans as possible that was one thing Stacy could definitely agree on. "For all we know these guards could of been hired from third party sources with little info regarding what is really going on so bashing the snot out of them could only attract more unwanted attention in this covert operation. It probably would be best to avoid as much conflict as possible but I like Shi's idea of using some device as a distraction before the rest of us make our way in. My other biggest concern is the cameras in the building. Unless someone knows how to mess with them without it also looking suspicious so we can sneak a bit easier would be handy. Sadly I'm no hacker but I can sneak around basically unheard otherwise."
She then brought out her D-Tector clutching it in her left hand before she then said "From here on out we have to make this a stealth operation even Batman would be proud to witness for this plan to succeed."

"..." Zack paused, the intent stare of his eyes meeting Adrian's could be felt as a physical force even from behind the black and purple shine of his visor. he was about to say something more when he caught a glimpse of Marigold looking up at him from the corner of his eye. "...hmph. I'll follow whatever lead you guys want. I'm not much of a planner when you get right down to it. I AM here to help, I can promise you that." he said, peaking his head around gingerly to catch a glimpse at the rent-a-cop blocking their way in. Zack didn't really have many moral qualms with giving the guard something else to worry about but that was probably the cliche superhero in him, so long as the guy didn't get hurt in a way that couldn't be undone by a few days bedrest it wouldn't effect the way that Zack slept, especially in the snarling mood he was currently occupying.
"We could go for any of those solutions or a combination of them, we have enough people here to split up and still keep enough eyes on one another that we wouldn't get caught out of position. My dad and I aren't exactly hackers either so it sounds like finding a way into the computers might be a secondary objective once we're inside, you never know which staff members are going to leave their passwords taped to their computer monitors." Marigold offered, trying to keep the peace just as desperately as everyone else between Adrian and Zack in that moment.

"If you're here to help then prove it," Adrian says. "If you really think stunts like that will help in the future, go ahead. But you have to let us know what you're planning on doing first. Same goes for myself and the rest of you." Adrian's lips formed into a small smile. "Not my first rodeo, working so closely with a bunch of people I had just met, after all."
It seemed pretty split amongst the group on how to deal with the guard at the side entrance to the building. Shi had an idea though. He showed a function on his Digivice with a boxing glove, saying it could form into a harmless copy of either Yuudai or Yasuo that could distract the guard and drive him away. "I recognize that," Adrian said as he looked through the apps on his own Digivice. "Shadow boxing... that can work."
The issue about the cameras would be concerning... if Adrian and Shoutmon hadn't already thought of that first. "No need to worry about the cameras," Shoutmon said to Stacy. "We called up one of our hacker friends already... one you probably already know of, since he works in AEGIS with you. Anyways, he agreed to deactivate the cameras inside once the conference starts, guy's a real pro."
"Doesn't mean that there won't still be some people wandering around in the building," Adrian stated. "They may not notice the cameras are down, but we should still be quiet and on alert."
Okay, a plan is in action. Adrian would lead the group closer to the side entrance while still remaining out of sight. The guard could be seen doing various idol pose things such as checking his watch and looking around, perhaps even yawning. "Okay, here we go..." Adrian quietly said as he activated his own Shadow Boxing program, creating a near identical clone of Shoutmon. The clone would run past the guard, laughing and even giving the middle finger towards the rent-a-cop, who clearly did not appreciate it at all.
"W-What the?! Get back here!" the guard would cry out as he left his post to chase after the Shoutmon clone.
"Now's our chance," Adrian told the others as he and Shoutmon went for the door. If they were to follow him, they would find that getting into the building was actually fairly easy, since the doors weren't locked at all. They'd find themselves in a typical office building entrance hall, though a fairly nice looking one.
"Okay, so we're in," Shoutmon said as he looked around, before spotting a computer on the front desk. "There, that's the computer we need to get into, I think."
Adrian nods and heads for the computer to try and access it. "Damn it, I can't get in," Adrian says in frustration, "It needs a special key card, because of course it does. Why didn't I ask Zero for help on this part, too?"
"So, we gotta go looking around for one, I take it?" Shoutmon asked. "We better hope some dummy left theirs just lying around or hope someone comes walking by so we can take it from them. Unless you guys have any other options."

Well at least they seemed to be all on the same page now, Shi was worried he was gonna hafta give some sorta speech to get the group to get along with one another and see the bigger picture, which would've been the most tragic thing that has happened so far. Thankfully all they would need from now on is a little communication between party members. "Working with a bunch of strangers we don't know is basically the foundation on which we do our adventures by." Yuudai pointed out, given that Shi and Yasuo both gave a nod this was a correct statement for the three of them.
AEGIS? They had hackers. Well made sense given their job but what was even hacking in the digital world, bah best not think about that now. ".....So why didn't you bring him along?" Was Shi's only real question, in fact shouldn't that group be hounding after this place given what Shi just saw. Maybe that'll only happen if they mess up, not like he knows anything about how that group operates after all.
As everyone ran through the door Shi hanged back for a bit being the last one to enter, turning around as he closed the door though Shi would then proceed to lock the door behind him trapping the person outside, probably a bit petty and not needed but hey it was funny.
As Shi walked up next to Yuudai and Yasuo, apparently they needed a key card in order to get into the computer. "Well nothing to do cept start looking I suppose, check around the desk maybe they hid one there just in case." With that Shi started to walk around followed by Yuudai and Yasuo, searching the area they just came from near the door. Unless someone else had an idea in which case that'd probably be better.

So Zero was helping out with this mission which, given the Hackmon's somewhat mischievous ways, should of been no surprise to Stacy. At least the cameras were one last thing to worry about. That and things seemed to be settling down too which was good since she didn't really want to play referee.
"Working with a bunch of strangers is something I think a few of us have gotten used to. Hell that's how I came across Zack here oddly enough." Stacy said in regards to Yuudai's statement. Zack, to be honest, wasn't the only oddball she came across as she had met a few before joining AEGIS.
As for the distraction with the Shadow Boxing program, it went pretty well as a copy of Shoutmon ran past the unaware guard after flipping him the bird. Stacy snickered at that as it seemed the guard wasn't that observant as the captured digimon weren't that lively. Then Adrian signalled the group to make its move with Shi locking the door behind them. Petty yes but it would possibly by them a few moments more at least.
When Adrian mentioned the computer needing a special keycard she made her way over to the computer to look at it as she said "Of course it needs a special keycard. I guess we aren't dealing with complete blockheads in this matter." Looking around the desk was a good idea though because maybe a spare keycard for the computer was hidden from view near the desk. Kneeling toward the floor she reached over planning to open the desk hoping it was unlocked as she couldn't pick locks either. "Hey guys, I know it may be a bit of a stretch but maybe a spare keycard was left in the desk by a forgetful employee. Most people don't have photographic memories after all. If not we may have to resort to sneaking around pickpocketing people at random." Stacy said while keeping her focus on the drawers of the desk while keeping an ear out for trouble.
