Everyone was out, and the coast was clear, for now. But in her haste to dig the party out, Crystal had injured herself. At least it wasn't a major injury. But with the gang off track, they needed to find a way back to where the portal was.
"Aye, and nary a royal dominion to barter off for a compass. Mayhaps we should..."
"That way... ish. But definitely in that direction."
Rippah pointed off in a direction, and Vetina, in slight awe, tilted her head.
"As Lezard once said, 'It always helps to know North, no matter what.' So if I'm in a situation like this where I might be discombobulated, I just keep not at where I came from.
Though... I'm surprised no one else did the same. Ah well... let's hurry up, shall we?"
"Well, the dominion for your head would be nice too, heh heh."

((So did Rippah become Vetina for a second there? XP))
As they began walking towards the direction Rippah pointed out, Crystal and Pure kind of felt bad that neither of them knew the way.
"Well it's hard to keep track where your going when your not in control of your own body." Pure explained, "So that's kind of my excuse. Crystal?"
"Huh? Uhh... Honestly I find this place pretty disorientating. With not all that much to see, it's been pretty hard to tell if we're even going straight at all. And that's not to mention the tunnel I just made that required me to go around in circles, adding more to the disorientation." Crystal replied as she continued to massage her shoulder, "So I have to admit that I'm pretty impressed that you are able to have a general idea where we came from at all."

(((Lezard reads lots of novels. He can go into flowery words every now and then for the fun of it)))
Rippah had to admit, not being in control of ones body would, indeed, probably effect one's ability to keep track of direction. For Crystal, the landscape was so nondescript it was hard to pinpoint a landmark.
"Ah, heh, I didn't mean to insult anyone, and sorry about that Pure... anyway, in terms of samey locales, I've traveled to the Northern areas during snow storms, I've dug shelters in snow, and I've done my fair share of night traveling. I may be built better against the cold but I don't want to get lost up there.
Still I can only give a rough estimate. I can't say if we walk in a straight line we'll go straight to the portal. What I can say is that if we go that we, we *will* be walking towards the portal."
"Were it practical I'd suggests we'd shotgun and maybe hit better. Best keep an exercising gaze outward."

"Well it's better then nothing I suppose. Perhaps we may even end up recognizing some type of landmark on our way their." Crystal added as they walked, "And if we end up not being able to find the portal, then we'll discuss the possibility of splitting up and searching for it that way."
"I'm not sure splitting up is a good idea at all. Mel did say something about the Hylden striking at us once we found his sister. Try to wipe us out at once. So wouldn't splitting up make us easier targets for them Crys?" Pure asked concern as he made sure he still grip on Celeste.
"Hense why it'll be a last ditch effort if we can't find the portal. Like Vetina said, it's pretty impractical. Especially if we can't find a way to communicate to each other about the portal's location. Rippah's the one with the recall device after all, and none of us we'll be able to do much without him being there too. I just like to keep the option there in case we ever do need it."

"Well, hopefully there's enough around where we started so we can figure out where the portal is. And once the 8 hours is up it'll be active, but small.
There's also the fact that the air her is pretty stagnant... hopefully we've left enough marks on the ground. Now lets just hurry out of here before we're caught..."
"Aye..."
The trip back would be largely uneventful. Rippah was glad for this, but Vetina seemed leery. The terrain did offer some cover and variation, but not enough for the group to have been undiscovered up to this point. She kept this in mind for a while...
Eventually, the group could see, in the distance, a distortion. It would take them some time to get there, but seeing this put a large grin on Rippah's face. He took out a stopwatch and checked the time.
"Alright, so we're a bit late, but not overly so. Heh, i bet that Sanoske is worried sick about you... Huh, Vetina?"
Vetina was looking back, tensing up. The siblings might also hear the faint steps of someone running towards them... quite fast...

A faint smile grew on Pure's face as he saw the noticeable distortion up ahead. He almost couldn't believe it. They not only figured out where the portal was, but they were also almost there. Perhaps they will actually manage to bring Celeste back without any need to fight.
Crystal wasn't so optimistic. It bugged her that despite how open they have been on there way back, no one has tried anything to stop them. If some people of this world truly wanted Celeste and Mel as dead as Mel made them believe, then why hasn't anyone tried anything yet. Either Mel was lying, something or someone of higher priority requires their full attention at the moment, or they were lying in wait for an ambush. But what could it be?
It also didn't help matters much that she could feel her strength failing. Unlike her brother, she still had very little practice with the form she is currently in. She was actually a bit surprised that she was able to keep her champion form up for this long. Though perhaps she had the data Sanoske gifted her to thank for that. His strength helping pull her through even when he is a world away.
As Rippah began to talk about how Sanoske was probably growing worried about her, Crystal found her attention being drawn to something else. It was faint, but she could hear something moving towards in the distance. And it was moving fast.
Crys wasn't the only one to hear the tail closing as Pure turned around and raised his free hand, pointing the Vulcan that now engulfed that hand towards whatever was coming towards. He wasn't going to fail Mel. Not after they came so close.
"Rippah! If this guy turns out not to be as friendly as I hope, I want you to do me a favor and get Celeste out of here." Pure requested Rippah, his voice still revealing the fear that he is trying his best to hide deep within.
That was when something occured to Crystal. If this was truly an attack, then they weren't just going to be after Celeste and Mel. They were also going to be after the portal too.

"What? Come on Pure... regardless of what happens I'd... rather not leave anyone behind..."
Rippah was surprised to see Pure make such a request, but due to the situation wouldn't be able to explain why he couldn't quite do that. It reminded Rippah of another digimon he knew. Despite his... less than good nature, Rippah considered him a friend. And then one day the two were approached by a powerful digimon and tamer from Hakai. His friend stayed, but Rippah ran. It was a regret he had to this day, especially considering recent news he heard about him.
The one who was coming soon came into view, coming over an incline... the MagnaAngemon from before! Once he saw them, his pace slowed... but was still quite fast. Rippah and Vetina were impressed with how fast he seemed to run... and were then worried. Still, he came alone... strange.
"The color of our rice, you are."
Vetina readied her Cypher Sword, whereas the Angemon looked as stoic as ever.
"I admit, I should have caught this earlier... It seems to me that you have some other solution to our 'ailment'. As much as that Tururiemon argued with me over forcing others to become our hosts, I sincerely doubt you all are just going to shove Celeste into a digimon.
I will get to the point... I am not in a position to let you all escape. I have came here alone so that if, for some reason, I do die, it is me alone.
Either you tell me what you plan on doing with Celeste, and aid me...
...or you can all leave, barring Vetina. Frankly, I want Mel gone and out of our hair.
...or I attack you all and use the portal myself. This area may have changed me, but not all changes to my own body are strictly detrimental..."

So it was MagnaAngemon that was following them. Crystal had a suspicion about it, but didn't think it was quite possible. The speed he was moving at was pretty fast for what she thought a MagnaAngemon would normally be. Perhaps it has something to do with the mutations he has suffered in this world.
Crystal and Pure took defensive positions as he came ever closer. However, instead of trying to attack the group, he tried to speak to them once more. He wanted to know what exactly they had planned for Celeste as they surely had some type of alternative then just sticking her into someone else's body.
Crystal paused for a second as she thought of what MagnaAngemon told them before taking a step forward. "Fine. I see no reason to keep it a secret. I'll tell you exactly what we plan to do with Celeste. Have none of you ever thought about creating a pseudo-body for yourselves that are able to exist in our world? Surely with how far advance your technology appears to be, surely a team of your scientists could figure out how to synthesis an empty bodies for your people to possess without causing harm to the inhabitants in the world your going too." She informed the Hylden leader, hoping that what she just told him would leave him satisfied.
"Now that you know exactly what we are planning, I believe it's time for us to take our leave. Which means it's ultimately up to you, and by extension, your people on how exactly you wish to use this bit of advice. It's not like you actually have any other reason to hold us here. We lack the know how on how to make such a feat possible ourselves, and will fight if we have to to return back to where we belong. Letting us leave will ultimately result in a win-win. So what do you say?" Crystal wasn't exactly a diplomat, but she was trying her best here. She rather avoid a confrontation with this man if she could avoid it.
((Also as a quick side note. Trying to create and use psuedo bodies was actually the plan Celeste was working on. Just thought it would be important to bring this up as MagnaAngemon's reaction may change because of it.))

The MagnaAngemon listened intently to Crystal. He figured he would have had to fight them, but he gave Crystal the chance to speak her piece. And when he finished... he chuckled.
"In a fantasy I'd say a eureka, but the simplicity is, too, a daydream?"
"It's just that... it's amazing how much Mel hates us. I find it amusing. But Celeste, as far as I know, never went beyond a 'theory' and some preliminary experimentation. In fact, i wasn't even aware that Mel knew. Did he carry out some of his sister's work?
Or, perhaps I could be mistaken... now that I think about it, if none of you can make a pseudo body, even Mel... then where would Celeste go? Perhaps someone on the other side not related to the Hylden is creating a body for you...?"

"What is fantasy if just not reality unrealized?" Crystal replied bluntly, "Our method will not be able to help your people in a reliable way. So it's going to be up to you all to figure out how to go about it yourselves. It even being possible in the first place is a plain fact. What you do with that fact is for you to figure out?"
Crystal then began walking away towards the portal, done with this conversation. She gave MagnaAngemon all the info she was willing to give to him. Now hopefully he'll make what she see's as the smart decision and use that info to help his people. Yet she was fully aware that the Hylden's leader was likely to just laugh it off and try to attack them anyways. So she made sure to keep a cautious ear out for any signs of an attack.

"Do you really think it's that simple?"
The Angemon was annoyed at what he perceived as ignorance towards the Hylden's situation. But if anything, he remained relatively as calm as ever.
"Celeste said the same thing, and look at her now. Our resources do not allow us to simply *make* bodies, nor can we go outside of this area to make any. And while I wasn't keen on Celeste getting attacked, I do agree that our efforts shouldn't be split.
Still, what makes you think that making bodies here would be a simple matter? Or did you think that it was merely the fog here affecting us? It is merely part of the issue, not the sum of them."

"No. I can't say I really thought it would be as simple as I made it out to be. I just wanted to give you an alternative that could appease both parties involved." Crystal stated plainly, "That being said. Doesn't it strike you odd that Celeste was so savagely attacked for a 'theory' and some preliminary experimentation? Would her peers really feel so threaten by her? Or perhaps her 'theory' had better results then even you know? Results that worried her peers enough to try to murder her.
"If I may have one more suggestion. If you haven't already, try interrogating those who attacked her, and looking through the data on their archives back in the bunker. Surely one of those paths is likely to offer up some type of clue where to begin."
Crystal didn't stop as she said all that. She was determined to get them all into that portal. Though she really did hope the others would decide to follow after her. Least they will end up being here forever. Answering pointless question after pointless question til the end of time itself.

"All of this strikes me as odd. I'm not an idiot."
The Angemon was audibly getting a bit miffed. The least Crystal could do is face him.
"While the bulk of your points are things already considered... I will personally look through her data. But I do not promise that the other Hylden will so eagerly take up any evidence of alternate methods.
If you haven't realized it yet, not all of us operate on the same page.
The rest of you are free. But regardless of our inclinations do not return here. You may not be so lucky with the other Hylden..." ----
Once at the portal, it would take a few moments before it opened up once Rippah had gotten close enough. Through the portal they could see an eager welcoming party... or at least just Sanoske, Cuttah, and Lezard, who had seemed to be rushing to meet with them and ended up tripping and falling over.

Crystal wasn't even able to make it half way to the portal before her true intentions became more apperant to all those around. Her body became static for only a second as her legs gave out from under her. She soon found herself falling onto the cold hard ground below her. The energy in her body that she was using to maintain her Champion form had finally tapped out.
"Crys!" She could her hear his brother call out as he went over to her side.
No. Not now. We're to close. She struggled as she put everything she had left into maintaining, which wasn't much. Her whole form was growing more and more unstable by the second.
Why didn't she notice how much she had left earlier? Sure she was beginning to feel weaken when they had first spotted the portal, but she honestly didn't expect her energy to drop so suddenly like that. Especially seeing how much effort she put in that hasty attempt at diplomacy with MagnaAngemon so they could avoid a fight. And thus she could avoid facing a similar fate during said fight. Yet it seemed it was inevitable either way.
Crystal could feel her brother pick her up and throw her over his shoulder. When did Pure get so strong? She wondered as she faded in and out consciousness. He was moving as quickly as he could. Trying his best to get his sister to the portal. Yet, despite his best efforts, her Turuiemon form finally failed, returning her to her Lopmon form, and exposing her to the effects of this world.
Pure pushed himself even harder to reach the portal, spurred on by his sister's lighter weight. He couldn't lose Crys again. Not after just recently getting her back.

And so the MagnaAngemon decided to leave them be. Sure, he found that Tururiemon rather presumptuous, but he still would rather them leave then bother trying to capture him. He had his role, after all, to try to maintain some semblance of unity for the dwindling Hylden.
Vetina took to the rear. She was the least effect by this area, and thus could afford to go out last. Meanwhile, Rippah went up ahead so the others could pick up on his signal and activate the portal. It opened up after a few moments, during which Rippah looked back at the siblings.
"Come on, Crystal, we're practically there already!"
Once open, Rippah went through and devolve to his armor champion form to be met with a worried Cuttah, hugging him tightly... before Rippah stumbled away and ran outside. Cuttah tried to follow, but Lezard stopped her.
"They still need you to be the host. I'll check with Rippah. But chances are he's..."
And then they heard a loud welch... and then some vomiting. Lezard ran off, and Cuttah stayed, worried. Did such a short amount of time there really do that to him? Of course, Rippah wouldn't have been so ill had Mel not set off that concentrated fog trap. And upon going back to his usual form the illness quickly set in.
Sanoske was also worried. He made, with is abilities, 2 beds, one for Celeste's container, the other for Crystal. And judging by the way the Terriermon looked, Sanoske guessed who was currently in control.
^Pure, is Crystal okay? What happened to her?^
