CHAPTER III: BACK AT HOME
Digital Chronicle #1 (Part 2): A city high above the sky. Boru and Titania’s great adventure continues! Around twelve hours had passed since Sonia, carrying Boru and Titania over her back, had arrived at a place most digimon thought only existed in legends. Right now, the trio rested around what seemed to be some old ruins, located over a hill. From there, they could see the whole city down below. “So you can’t… go back to how you were before?” Boru was now wide awake. He had to raise his gaze to actually look at Sonia into her blue eyes. She was now this giant red bird. An Aquilamon, according to what Titania had explained. Neither Boru or Sonia herself had seen one before. Sonia shook her head. “I’m trying, but I don’t know how to do it. I had never evolved before. I feel too big and very awkward.” She strutted her body, trying to get some acknowledgment of it. “I think you look amazing.” With glimmering eyes, Boru just stared at the giant eagle. To be honest, Sonia couldn’t say she felt too bad. Besides, the whole environment of this place was helping a lot. The skies were sunny and the weather was very warm. It was a nice change from the humidity the mangrove always offered. “This whole place is amazing. I had heard legends about ElDoradimon: the giant digimon that wanders around the Digital World. However, I never expected it to be real. I can’t believe we’re on top of it. I can’t believe this is where Parrotmon was taking the digimon he took from the Bayou.” Well, it wasn’t exactly right at where they were. Sonia had kind of lost sight of him when they arrived, due to the sun rising in the horizon and the shock from seeing such marvelous structures in front of her. All of this combined with the fact that she had trouble to move in that form. She was not used to being this big. Not at all. In any case, they knew Parrotmon was somewhere here, at ElDoradimon, so it was just a matter of time before they found him. Along with Roru, Koru, Ron's daughter, and so many others. “Did you know this place actually existed, Titania?” Sonia asked, looking down below at her friend. “ElDoradimon is like that moving library you mentioned, right, Mrs. Titania?” Boru, who was feeling a lot better after those hours of resting, had his claw resting on his mouth while he mused about this. “Except instead of books, it contains... digimon.” That comparison was equally weird and accurate. Titania had been answering questions and providing conversation for the long journey, having devolved into a Tinkermon a while into the flight. "That tends to happen when you evolve into champion for the very very first time. At least...that's how it was for me, too. Imagine having to walk around like Kazemon for a few weeks?"
The fairy sighed. "I do agree with Boru, though. The form...suits you. Good job. Now...I knew this place existed. I've heard tales from my father, Xu the Lionhearted, as well as my mother, Pixie of the Golden Wind. I just...didn't realize that my travels would ever take me here. I mean...I've seen ElDoradimon from afar. Anyone can. He marches throughout the world on a lonely journey. He -is- like the library in a way. But the library is smaller. It also contains people I love. ElDoradimon is a continent full of Digimon that...hate outsiders."
That was the case, was it not? "...So why is Parrotmon bringing them here?"

“I believe that’s different.” The giant bird sighed. “Kazemon is a beautiful digimon, and definitely much smaller.” She pointed out, before gladly taking the compliment issued by Titania. “Thank you.” She lowered her head, a little flustered.
“Well, I had never left Rustport in my whole life, so that explains why I hadn’t seen it, even from afar.” Boru mused about this, coming to the reason while he probably was unaware of this place’s existence.
“Yes. I had never left the Bayou either, so no it's no surprise that I never got to see ElDoradimon before.” Sonia also reflected on this. “I wonder if he’s okay with carrying a whole civilization on top of him.”
“D-Do you think they’ll hate us here, Mrs. Titania?” Boru asked, sounding honestly worried.
“That’s a good question, Titania. Maybe they’re being used for something here? I really don’t get it.” With a worried countenance, Sonia shifted her gaze towards the city, particularly at the northern side of it. A huge tower raised above everything. “I could swear I saw Parrotmon go towards that tower before I lost sight of him. I wonder what’s in there. I wish I could go into the city and gather some information, but I’m afraid I’m too big for that right now.”
Both Sonia and Boru looked at Titania. What would she think about this possible plan? Maybe it was worth trying to approximate the city and look for some info? It was also getting late and it was probably a good idea to go and see if they could get some food. Of course, they had the fruits Ron had given to them, but if they could save those for later, that’d be ideal.

"Beautiful, maybe. But she's...so scantily clad! I'm a queen! I'm royalty! What kind of royalty goes around with her bottom bared like that?" The Tinkermon was reduced to a fit of snickers at the conversation, before it took a slightly more serious tone.
"I don't know. How -does- it feel to carry a whole city on your back, yet have nobody to speak to? Do you think he gets lonely? ...And...I don't know. Perhaps they only hate humans. Perhaps they don't. I genuinely cannot tell. We'll need to actually find out for ourselves."
Titania seemed just as worried as the other two. "...Boru and I could head into the city, see what we can find. Um...maybe get you some food. How does that sound?"

It was impossible to not stiff a laugh at what Titania was saying. Sonia just chuckled, while Boru blushed a bit. Titania was beautiful, and she having a romantic partner already didn’t mean Boru was not very much aware of the beauty she bestowed. The Psychemon shook his head off the thought of Fairymon’s bottom and focused on the topic regarding Eldoradimon.
“That’s so sad.” He sighed. What if he hadn’t had his brothers or his sister back in Rustport? That must’ve sucked. Another change of mood happened right away: Food! He needed some of that.
“That sounds like a plan. But please, be careful. Remember you can always find me in here. I can see everything from up here too, so in case something goes wrong, try to make any sign I can see, okay? I’ll go there immediately.” Sonia just crouched a little more, as she silently waved at the duo, who went down the ruins, heading to the city.
The night had started to fall and the lights of a very medieval-styled city started lighting up. It was a very… interesting town, for someone who had been in the human world as Titania. The structure of the whole city was very antique. Buildings made of stone and fire lighting for the most part. However, there were signs of more advanced technology as expending machines and other commodities.
While the duo walked through the streets (also made of stone) nobody seemed to pay special attention to them. The few looks they were getting were from male digimon staring at Titania, which shouldn’t be any surprise.
“They don’t seem like they even know we’re not from around here, Mrs. Titania. I think we’re off trouble.” Boru pointed out, showing a smile of relief.
The duo would finally reach a square, where the entrances to all types of stores, restaurants, and bars could be found. Again, everything with a very medieval design style.
“Where should we go?” Boru asked. The variety of places they could enter went from inns and bars to blacksmiths and convenience stores. Or maybe they should try … something else? It was probably a good idea to let the Tinkermon decide.

While Titania didn't understand what was so funny (or blush-inducing, don't think she missed that, young man) about her VERY REAL TROUBLES with her champion (and ultimate!) forms...She did kind of get the problem that the Digimon they were on faced. "It is. I don't think I could ever stomach an existence so lonely. Yet he shoulders it all."
She did stomach being an only child, though. A long-lived, lonely fairy. If she could go all those years, maybe ElDoradimon could too. As she and Boru headed towards the city, Titania felt a sort of familiarity here. She had lived in a time where villages like these were commonplace.
It felt like stepping into another time entirely for her. "...Takes me back to when I was a princess." She murmured, glancing around. Of course, she also caught the digimon staring at her. Her mom had taught her a valuable technique for such a time. A technique that proved effective on males particularly.
Titania reached into a little pouch at her waist...And pulled out a paper fan. The kind you'd see people get slapped with in anime. "Like whatcha see?" Of course, she had to keep following Boru. No way in hell she was gonna lose him again. "We could try asking around about the tower and the Parrotmon. Or head into an inn and see if anyone knows anything in there...Actually, the inn idea might have people that are in the know about the happenings here."
The Tinkermon had made her decision.

Blinking a couple of times, staring at the fairy, Boru couldn’t help but ask. “You were a princess, Mrs. Titania?” It seemed like this Tinkermon was just a box of surprises, especially for someone that considered everything so be amazing, being on his first trip out of Rustport. “You did mention your girlfriend being like a princess of the sea, before… so that’s why you two are together? You're like a royal family?” It was clear the Psychemon didn’t understand much of what was going on, but it sure sounded like Titania was even more amazing that he thought of, if that was possible. The main target of Titania’s technique was a Tyrannomon, who was blatantly staring at her, just standing in a corner while they went by. The dinosaur’s face acquired a red color after hearing her question, even brighter than his own skin. Visibly embarrassed by this confrontation, he just turned his head somewhere else, acting as if he was looking at nothing, to begin with. Luckily, Boru was not a witness of this scene, or he would have blushed a lot too. “That seemed like it might work, then.” They weren’t very far away from an inn. Boru just pointed his claw at a sign. ‘Crossed Paths Inn’, could be read at the wooden placard. The duo walked in. Again, a medieval style was the definitely the theme for the place. Candles and torches lighting up the scene and digimon sitting in tables chatting or drinking. All of this while some very antique type of music played in the background. “This seems like a very popular place.” Boru noted, while he walked alongside Titania heading to the counter, which also seemed to work as some sort of bar. Surprisingly, there was no one behind the counter. Boru took a leap to seat on a stool, right in front of the bar. Immediately, he heard an “ouch!”A bit startled, the stripped pelted digimon leaped off the chair and turned to see what he had taken a seat on. He was a bit terrified upon noticing it was… a digimon. “Hey! What do you think you are you doing?” He asked, with a very sweet, child-like voice. Huh.

"Before I was a queen, I was a princess, of course! ...It was back when I used a sword instead of a spear, too. And Mizu's kind of like a princess, yes. Um...we're not really together because of that, though. It's because we like each other. It's...a very complicated matter, okay?" Gosh, the fairy wasn't sure how much she could attempt to explain to the little Psychemon right here.
So, this would have to wait for another day. Titania's technique also seemed to have the effect she desired, and she swiftly pocketed the paper fan before she proceeded towards the inn. The place was crowded. Popular. Lively, in fact. The Tinkermon was looking around for anyone to talk to at the counter before the sound of a little OUCH was heard!
"Boru, uh. Watch the..." A Wanyamon? "...Wanyamon. Hello there, um...what's your name?" She asked the little fuzzball.

“I-I’m sorry!” Sweating, Boru waved both hands in front of him nervously. “I didn’t see you down there, I swear it wasn’t on purpose.” Very flustered, the Psychemon apologized. He wasn’t very good at dealing with people being angry at him. However, the fuzzy creature didn’t seem to be paying much attention to his apologies. It was all long forgotten because he seemed… rather angry at something completely different.
The Wanyamon looked around the establishment with an annoyed expression. Bouncing on top of the cushion. His eyes then went to Titania, who was addressing him. It was a bit hard to listen to each other here. The music was loud and there were lots of digimon talking, drinking, and eating. It was definitely a noisy place.
“I’m Goya.” He gave a very plain answer, paying a lot of more attention to whatever was bothering him on the environment.
“My name is Boru. And this is Titania. She’s a queen.” The Psychemon handled the introductions, giving his peer all of the credit she deserved. “What were you doing sitting there so quietly? Are you alone in here?”
No answer. He still seemed upset about something. The Wanyamon let escape a big yawn. He seemed very sleepy.
“I think there’s something about this place that’s… bothering him.” Boru noted. It was a shame he wasn’t that smart to tell what it was right away. Maybe Titania would have a clue? A plan?

"Hey, hey, shh, it was an accident. I don't think he's mad at you!" Titania's focus immediately went towards trying to calm Boru down. She quickly noticed that the Wanyamon seemed...angry. But at what? It couldn't be at Boru...The place was rather loud, though. Thankfully her ears caught the name.
Goya...An interesting name, to be sure. Titania watched Boru address the little ball, before she realized something. He couldn't hear them very well. The noise was at fault for that. "...I've got this."
Time to live up to my kind's reputation for stealing babies.
Titania gently leaned down to try scooping Goya up and flying with him in tow towards the stairs, and up the flight to the second floor. Perhaps that was more quiet than on the ground? Once there, she'd finally ask. "Is that better? We want to talk to you, and I'm sorry I didn't really ask back there..."

It was impossible to deny Titania’s maturity was a great asset for Boru’s normally super-nervous attitude. The fairy’s analytical mind was exactly what he needed to overcome all of this, and it proved itself each and every time he tended to panic in front of these types of situation. Could it be said they made a good team? Maybe they would have to wait and see. It all would depend on if they could save his brothers or not.
Boru just followed Titania up the stairs, feeling a little nervous, as most of the times. “W-Wait, Mrs. Titania!” Damn, she was fast. The stairs were made of wood and were rather long. After running behind the fairy, Boru got to a hallway, with multiple doors on the sides. They were on the second floor now. He quickly concluded these must be the rooms for the clients. Panting, Boru looked at the Wanyamon.
“N-No! Wait! I need to attend the inn, I’m in charge!” Goya started hopping down the hall, trying to head for the stairs. However, he stopped moving as soon as he heard Titania’s comment. His ears perked up, and he looked at Titania, blushing.
“Y-You wanted to talk to me?” The little fuzzy ball was using his tail to cover his cheeks, trying to hide the red color they had acquired. “Well… in that case, I think that my assistant can take care of the counter for a while.” He smiled, nodding. “Wait... you own this inn?” Boru asked, scratching the back of his head. “To own a place like this even though being so young! That’s amazing.” “Y-You really think so?” Again, Goya blushed. The Wanyamon started… vibrating, while he purred. “Y-You… really like compliments, don’t you?” Boru sweatdropped. “So… did you want to ask me something?” The innkeeper looked at the fairy, a bit expectant.

Today, Boru would learn something important about the fey. They were fast, they were resolute, and they were quite impulsive! Titania was just about to start after Goya as he protested getting up here, but it seemed her comment had attracted his interest.
Good, good!
"Yes, I wanted to speak to you. After all, an innkeeper has knowledge of the area around his inn. So...Yeah, I put two and two together. And I bet you're a smart little cookie, right?" Titania stated, while she made what may be a fatal mistake. She petted Goya. "I did want to ask you something. Do you know of a tower that a Parrotmon has been taking particular Digimon to around here?"
Simple and to the point. What did Goya know? Or... "...Or do you know anyone that...might? Sorry if we're being insistent." The fairy suddenly grew nervous. How...Uh. Unpleasant.

The praising Titania had added to the start of her question was doing wonders to put Goya on their side. The Wanyamon blushed again and started purring even louder. “Y-You think I’m smart?” The digimon was making a very odd, squeaky sound. It probably meant he was happy. “C-Come on! I’m just an archeologist who found a massive treasure in one of the ruins around ElDoradimon and then used that money to…” The fuzzy ball scratched the back of his head with his tail while he giggled.
“He’s even boasting…” Boru muttered. The small creature was definitely quite the character.
However, Goya had interrupted himself, upon noticing Titania went on with her question. His eyes widened up, looking a bit… shocked.
“N-no, don’t worry.” He dismissed Titania’s apologies. “It’s just that… this is not something foreigners know about. They are mostly rumors but… they say it’s been happening around the city for a while. Someone bringing digimon from outside. I don’t… know what for, though.” He seemed rather pensive. And, at the same time, a bit surprised at the question.
“How did you find out about this?” He now seemed to be genuinely curious. “It’s not something widely known” His eyes then went to Boru for a second, and then they widened up.
“Hey. I saw two Psychemons like you earlier today. You guys are an oddity around here.” He made a short pause, while he smiled at Titania’s petting. “Y-you did!? Where?” Boru raised his tone of voice, looking very shaken. “Keep it down! Remember there are clients sleeping around this floor.” Again, he made a pause, while he seemed to muse about Boru's question. “Ugh. I can’t remember where.” His eyes went to Titania, who was holding him now.
“Maybe a little more of praising would help…”
It became quite obvious that, for Goya, praising was a petting to the soul.

"Well, you obviously need to be in order to run an inn, right?" Titania offered a genuine smile towards Goya. "And even still, being an archaeologist takes wit, too." She knew now what the currency this fuzzball ran upon. Praise. Kind words.
Of course, what Titania did next was definitely risky. Super risky. She knew these people hated foreigners like no other. But, she couldn't lie, right? That would be far worse than being not from here. A liar that isn't from here. "Well, we...only found out because that Parrotmon's been taking our friends. And we want them back. The Psychemon are Boru's siblings...If you can remember where, can you please, please tell us? And...try not to tell anyone about what I just said? I feel like I can trust you."

At first, Goya seemed a bit troubled by the revelation. Confused, even. But not completely willing to help. It was the mentioning of these Psychemon being Boru’s siblings (and the praising given before) that made him stop to actually try and remember what he had seen. “It’s dangerous for you to come in here unprepared like that. I, as the runner of an inn, am used to foreign digimon. But it is true some of the digimon living here don’t like them.” He explained. “But when it comes to family…” The Wanyamon made a pause, before continuing.
“… I have four siblings.” He said, lowering his gaze, looking a bit melancholic. “Right now, due to our work, we’re separated. I even sent away the biggest treasure I had found, a bit scared of these rumors of this organization kidnapping people, so... I get how you’re feeling. If these guys took your siblings it means the rumors are true.” He made a short pause. “I saw these two Psychemon entering a bar, around the eastern side of the city, while I took my daily walk.”
Goya’s yellow eyes went to Titania, who seemed to be the sharpest of the two. “The place is called The Drunken Ranamon. It has a very distinctive electric red sign with the name written on it, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. If you ask me… the place looks, a bit fishy. I’ve never actually got in, but I’d say it’s a place where dangerous digimon hang out. I definitely wouldn’t recommend going at night.”
Even if he was usually the scaredy-cat type, Boru couldn’t run from the responsibility of finding his brothers, especially if he had a clue on where they might be. The Psychemon sighed, his eyes going to the fairy. “Mrs. Titania… I need to go. And I need to go now.” He declared. It was clear he was trying to take Titania’s duty of going with him off the fairy. Was he scared? Of course he was, but that didn’t make him any less determined.
Could Goya really judge him? If his siblings had been kidnapped, he would do exactly the same.
“That’s all I know. I wish you the best of luck, you two.”
