Toki landed near Aylin, and remained on guard despite the apparent victory. Toki felt the frustration and anger in Seraphimon's voice as his form was destroyed and reverted to Angemon. "It's the will of the people, Angemon. Symbols are important, but so is our own drive to make the world a better place. Destroying and condemning the old ways isn't going to change anything. We look to the past for inspiration. We're not clinging to idols, we're learning from them. See how the people of Rosewood stood up? See how people came to its aid? We didn't just sit her waiting for some mythical being to make things better again. We faced you and your plans through our own blood sweat and tears. To say that we rely on statues for stability is simply underestimating our capabilities as people."
Toki stepped forward slightly "Angemon. Like I told Saberleomon, you're better than that mark. Prove to it that the will of the Digital World is more than just symbols and statues. It's the collective hopes of its inhabitants and visitors. The future is ours to grasp for, and the old heroes deserve their rest, not our scorn."
Even in the face of danger and the painful struggles that ensued, Toki still had it in him to forgive Angemon since none of this was even his fault to begin with. Aylin stepped forward "I know it's easy to hate the state of the world, and easy to pin that blame on something from the past. Many cling to the past in some effort to find security. I did that once, but all it did was leave me blind to the goodness the world still has. Its new heroes and new inspirations. The past should be remembered, but also allowed to rest."
"So please, Angemon. Let this battle end. We don't have to do this anymore. We're on our way to stepping up and helping the world in our own ways one step at a time. There's no need for these drastic measures." Toki said. He truly did believe in hope and entrusting the future to the new generation.

The shockwave from the blast was enough to extinguish the blue flames that engulf Kitt. He slid across from the epicenter, about a good 20 feet, before he impaled the Blue Queen on the ground, stopping him from being blown off his feet.
As the smoke began to billow, Kitt stood there for a few moments, holding on to the planted sword for good support with his head down, panting. That attack took about everything he had, so much so that he felt like he could pop out of his Ultimate form any second. But still, he held on to his form, pondering whether or not Seraphimon was still a threat after all of that punishment.
Once the dust and smoke had cleared, all that was standing was an Angemon standing in the middle of a smouldering, scorching earth, a crater even.
Kitt’s eyes widened; they were not out of the woods yet. He growled, “Why won’t you just...give up already?” Unsheathing his sword from the ground, he began to slowly approach the weakened Angemon, dragging his sword. He came to a sudden halt however when Toki and the Dianamon gave a heartfelt speech, trying to convince their adversary to cease hostilities.
He didn’t utter a word; all he did was nod his head head in agreement. He turned to Angemon, and couldn’t help but give him a look of sympathy. Besaw not just an enemy, nor an ally, but someone he could have easily ended up as, mark or no mark: a menace blaming the world for all of his hardships.
Regaining his footing, he limps towards Angemon, picking up his sword and pointing it towards him. Using the little bit of fuel from Exceed, the broadsword caught on fire one more, but only this time, the blue flames weren’t as intense as before. Seeing the weakened mark on his body, Kitt tapped Agemon’s shoulder with the blunt side of his weapon, intending on destroying what remains of the mark, once and for all.
After it was said and done, a flash of light enveloped Kitt since the danger was over. He shrunk down and in his place was not his Spadamon form, but his In-Training form: Wanyamon.
“Sir Angemon,” Kitt murmured, his voice giving off a gentle tone, similar to Eris, a tentative smile going across the Wanyamon’s face, his green eyes peering at the angel with concern, “do you want to be friends?” Unlike his peers, he didn’t have anything knowledgeable or wise to say; all he had was his innocences and willingness to forgive his ally.

Despite the massive blast of flame, light and frost, all aimed directly at the Seraphimon, all combining into a massive blinding blast, Skadi gripped onto her great sword still plunged into the Earth, turning away and averting her eyes from the carnage. Only when it all died down, and she could afford to look back once again, her eyes laid upon the crater left in it's wake, leaving only small smoke and Angemon himself, forcing himself to stand.
"So, that's it, then." She muttered quietly to herself, lodging the great sword out of the soil, and walking herself towards the crater, still holding it to her side, just in case. Her face was not one with anger, or bitterness, but pained exhaustion. The exhibition match, the rescue mission, and the chip-in to a massive fight to stop an infected entity. This extended time in her Perfect-form was taking a good toil onto her body.
Still, her eyes weakly glanced towards Toki and Aylin, both gently explaining to their once-adversary why they did what they had to do, and encouraging him to not let his hatred consume him. She knew what she had to do, giving a small nod to the Tsusagimon. As Kitt went to burn the mark with his sword, Skadi sheathed her as she looked the humanoid angel directly in the eyes, sighing a little.
"He's right. As much as I do love a good friendly spar from time to time, I must admit, violence and hatred without a purpose isn't going to help anyone. Not you, and not us. We had no intent to kill you. We had to step in to help defend the town because we have people that we care for that call this place home. If you let your anger and impulses control you, you're just going to get yourself and your people hurt. Take it from me." She slowly put a hand to her chest, "I've let my impulsive nature take control of me in the past, and all it did for me was hurt the ones I love."
By now, it was clear Skadi was more than exhausted. Beads of sweat trickled across her aching forehead, and heavy breathing could be heard from her nostrils. With one last exhale, a bright light shined from the Markhormon's body, before it started to shrink down, all the way to the size of a kickball. Like Kitt before her, she too had reverted back to her In-Training form of Mallimon, her rabbit-like ears weakly drooping to the sides as she looked upon the angel with sympathy.
Admittedly, it was hard to nod when your head was your entire body, but yes, she did share the same sentiment with Kitt, happily nodding to the angel, no shred of bitterness or a lasting grudge was to be found within her body. Underneath all that fluffy cotton, she could feel a smile coming to her unseen mouth as she wagged her little bunny tail happily.
Both Kenny and Odin could feel the sheer heat coming from the attacks, and quickly, they would duck down into the barrier below to protect them from the flames and lights, and like Skadi, only when the massive attacks died down, they would peer through the barrier, only to see the crater and the Angemon still limping along, defiant til the very end.
They would have gotten out to join the rest, hadn't Doku spoken up on his own observations, drawing their attention to him instead, Odin leaping down back into terra firma to address the Alraumon proper, "Well, do excuse me for being a little late to the party back there, but if I had to guess, that mark looked like it gave him some serious nasty mojo."
Kenny stepped forward in front of Odin, "Yeah, don't mind my friend there. We had to call him in here to help save the day when things basically went to shit." Kenny awkwardly chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck, "But anyways, it does make me think. This whole anti-'will of the Digital World' thing? ...I wouldn't be surprised if Wisemon directly injected his own thoughts, feelings and resentment into the marks themselves."
It was basically a wild guess at this point. Surely, they did collect at least one mark, right?

A combo attack from everyone here is what it took.
This angel was powerful, more so than just the mark. He was a fierce fighter and in a one on one… Well holly would have flat out lost. In fact she basically did. Weaver was her only saving grace and if it were not from that the fight may have had an extra body to keep track of that couldn’t fight.
Holly sighed softly and shook her head; seeing the remains of the seraphimon now an angemon once more? Well she wasn’t even sure if clarimon_major was needed at this point. The woman stumbled when she dropped back down to the ground; at some point her wings had casted her aloft… or maybe a little wind had picked her up. It was hard to tell with weightlessness sometimes.
Everyone had words for the angemon and all she could do was grip at her chest where she could feel the pain of all those attacks he had done to her. She’d shake her head as she felt a cough edge on and just let her clarimon form drop…
Which probably wasn’t a good idea seeing how she coughed a few times once in meicrackmon. She felt a bit dizzy and couldn’t help stumbling a little more. Taking a seat on the ground. She felt winded but she knew in this form she could probably trounce the angemon. Maybe.
Oh she wasn’t looking forward to this meeting with her father; she had let her anger get the better of her and ontop of which she didn’t see it yet but there was the makings of a scar on her chest with how the data was still working to form around there.
”I… think I’m just gonna go guys…”

"... Faith unending, is it?"
Finally able to distance himself from the wall, the Aruraumon finally rejoined the group, just as the Angemon was reduced to a mere angel, supporting himself on his staff. Despite what had happened, despite everything, Toki wanted to come to this angel's aid. Perhaps this was a mere consequence of the mark, but it was no small feat to try and open up one's heart to such brutality. "Its no surprise that you've managed the turtle's favor. But... all of you. Stand down for just a moment."
As the other three's forms were reduced - two to in-training, and one to ultimate, Doku kept his eyes on the Angemon. Even now, the angel grit his teeth, in defiance of everyone in front of him.
And, silently, Doku stepped past, mere yards before the Angemon, the angel giving a chuckle. "And what say you? Are you here to scold me like the rest? You should just leave-"
"-you alone?" Doku sighed, shaking his head. "You're a strong-headed, righteous idiot of a Digimon, but I refuse to believe that 'this' is you. So go on." The plant raised a hand, offering it to the Angemon. "Prove it to me, that the 'worthless pride' I scolded you for is better than some dumb magician's mark."
The Angemon grit his teeth - and for a moment, he seemed poised to attack. His knuckles tightened around the staff, the masked angel angrily looking down at Doku. But the rookie did not waver.
Doku looked him eye to eye, and gritting his teeth, the Angemon gave a nod. That radiant staff would glow, the energy pulled right back into his frame, as a burning, holy energy tore through his system.
"You think your control is complete? I... am not... YOUR TOOL!"
The Aruraumon covered his eyes, as an impressive pillar of light shone upwards, the mark across his back scattering like it was burnt away in the wind. A moment, later, the angel would collapse to his knees, a mere Patamon left in the crater, as Doku shook his head.
"A touch more dramatic than I would have liked... tch."
It didn't take long for the rest of the guard to show up. The Leomon would support the MeiCrackmon's back, as the Togemon knelt down over the two in-training Digimon. And the Leomon would speak up first:
"... Yeah, we're going to have questions about what the hell just happened here. But for now, let's get you all back to town."
"Seriously..." The Togemon shook his head.
As for Doku, well, he just found himself staring at that fallen angel for a few more seconds, shaking his head. "... I'll let him know that you've all done a good job. Whether or not he goes back to sleep, well. That might still be up to him."

Holly blankly stared at the two as they talked to one another; the angel was a tough cookie she could tell that much and she’d rub at her neck as she was going to have to likely get involved again… But then there was… Whatever the hell that the angemon did to burn off the remainder of the mark that was severely damaged at this point. The fight and Kitt’s fire likely weakened it enough for him to break it.
She’d smile a bit and rub at her face; she was tired. Beyond tired and just wanted to sleep at this point. She could feel her body screaming for support and she’d sigh as the guard got here. The leomon was supporting her so she wouldn’t fall over and she’d look up at him.
”Right…”
She’d look down at her chest fluff and consider something for a moment. She wanted to talk about it but… There was a chance that more people remained marked. More people could be a problem. This leomon could be one of them. She’d turn her head to toki and shake her head.
”You can sense this stuff right…? Anyone here that reads?”
She was very tired. It was getting harder and harder for her to hold her eyes open and after a moment the leomon wasn’t holding a meicrackmon’s back but rather a very dazed meicoomon. She had a rough patch on her chest that was both fur and scar tissue. The little rookie mumbling a bit.
”I think I’m done with this stuff for a bit… I need… a nap… But... once we're... done talking to Mr. Leomon...”

Toki watched as Doku's words were the tipping point for Angemon's resolve. The brilliant light that shone around him was blinding, but Toki simply shielded his eyes a bit as he looked on. The light faded as Angemon collapsed into the crater and reverted to their Patamon form. Without a second thought, Toki approached and picked up the Patamon to gently cradle it. "I knew you were stronger." He said to the exhausted Digimon "Rest now. You've done very well." He clearly had no animosity towards the Patamon themselves. This wasn't their fault, and should not be judged as such.
He turned around to address Holly before he looked at those gathering "If there were more I think we would have known by now." He said, but he scanned around just to be absolutely safe. He smiled softly at Holly "You were an outstanding help today, Holly...thank you. Once we're done debriefing the situation, let's all get some well deserved rest. Take it easy for a while, okay? You might have healed yourself but I can still tell you're hurt and exhausted. Circumstances aside, it was nice to see you again." He said with a smile towards her.
He looked at Skadi, Kenny, and at Kitt "Tired yourselves out, huh? Can't say I'm surprised...but you all did so well. I know it must have been difficult, especially once things spiraled out of control, but your part was no less important than ours. Thank you. Once we're done, feel free to go home and rest up as long as you need."
Now it was time to address Leomon and Togemon's concerns "Once we're back in town we'll try our best to explain everything. We're sorry for the secrecy of it all, but it will all be clear soon. For now, the danger has passed so let's make sure everyone's safe and sound."
As soon as safety was assured and everyone was gathered around, Toki would go with everyone to Rosewood. There would be a lot of explaining to do, but hopefully it would all work out. Despite the worries, Toki smiled. Peace, however fleeting, has been restored to this town he loved so much. In this world he loved so much.

Post by Kenny O'Hara and Skadi on Jun 2, 2020 0:52:17 GMT
When Doku got up to rejoin the rest of the group comforting the Angemon, Kenny and Odin would follow suit, once the wall retracted back into the earth below, allowing the earth to voluntarily swallow it up and leaving no trace of it's existence behind but a few pebbles scattered about. With things calming down, the young man put a hand to his throbbing head as he approached with a weary wave, "Sorry I'm a little late, guys, but me and Odin here had to go save some stragglers running around before we could join you. Don't worry, he's a friend of ours, eheh." He simply gestured to the giant ostrich with his free hand, who he himself gave but a simple wave to the rest.
"Hey."
Still, like the rest, he, Odin and Skadi would indeed stand down, the Mallimon bouncing back a bit, and could only watch as Doku confronted the Angemon directly, encouraging him to fight off the last bits of control the mark had upon his body. And all three would turn away, shielding their eyes as they could as the bright light flared from the crater, burning away the rest of the mark, and leaving a weakened Patamon in his place.
Glancing over to Toki and the Patamon, Odin tutted as he crossed his arms, observing the aftermath, "I knew it had to be some nasty mojo left inside of him by that weird mark thingy. Dark magic in the wrong hands is practically a disaster waiting to happen at any moment, especially to a poor sap like him. At least he's free now."
"You're telling me, man." Kenny sighed weary, still keeping hand to forehead and rubbing it a little, "I knew that mark could be dangerous if the wrong Digimon got their hands on it. Shit looked real nasty back there." For now, the only thing on his mind was when he could go back to rest up. Probably grab him, Skadi and Kitt some hot chocolate, with some extra marshmallows on the side for good measure for the both of them.
They did deserve a treat, after all.
By now, Skadi was fighting to stay awake at this point. The exhaustion had caught up with her, and it showed; her eyes flickered like crazy as she fought to keep them open, everything starting to turn into a blur of colours and shapes around her. Barely anything was comprehensible at this point. But she could at least hear Toki's words. And her eyes, weak as they were, glowered under the praise.
Slowly, she shuffled her whole cotton-covered body over, before proceeding to nuzzle at the body of the might spirit wielder softly, determined not to let her exhaustion wear her down. She could only last for so long before Kenny scooped up the Mallimon within his arms, chuckling a little, "Sorry about that, man. Exhaustion can do a lot of crazy things to a young kid like her."
Pausing for a brief moment before scooping up Kitt as well in his arms, his mind quickly lighted up with an idea, "Hey, uh, Toki? You wanna come back with us to Ys at the Aeterna bar? I was already thinking of getting these guys a treat there. Would you like to come too?" By now, Skadi was now snoring in Kenny's arms, practically melting into them. He didn't bother to disturb her. She needed that rest, and he could only smile at his partner.
But as things were starting to wrap up? Well, there was one last thing that Kenny needed to do, holding up a hand to the Leomon and putting the two on Odin's back, "Oh, uh, hold on a sec, guys. I just need to do something quickly..." before pulling out one last card, the Final Destination card. With a single swipe, hopefully, everything, Rosewood and all, would be restored back to normal, before all hell broke loose. The crater would be gone, the roofs and titles fixed, everything.
As they set off, Skadi still within slumber, Kenny chuckled one last time before switching on Tamernet, and sending out one last message, over to his good friend and mentor, Ryouta;
DrMothman: hi ryouta sorry about the swarm of rosewood evacuees over at ys trailmon terminal can we plz borrow illbert so we can send them back home soon?
With that out of the way, he slipped the Digivice back into his pocket and sighed contently as he walked back with the rest of them.
Life did kick ass sometimes.

Kitt hoped that his words of blissful innocence would be enough to help Angemon fight through the possession of the mark. Even if it wasn't helpful in anyway, he wanted to let him know that despite everything, he held no animosity to him, even after attempting to destroy Rosewood; it was mark's doing, not him.
Doku's words were the catalyst to help the angel push through, and sure enough, in a roar of defiance, he managed to break the mark's dark hold over him. A pillar of light surrounded him, making Kitt close his eyes. In its wake, Angemon collapsed into the crater and devolved into a Patamon.
Knowing that he was safe in Toki's care, his entire body wobbled before giving out as he landed face-first onto the ground with a soft "Oof~" and closed his eyes. Resting his tired head against the prickly grass for a moment as he took a sigh of relief.
"It's finally over..." he mumbled, his words slurred with exhaustion as he turned to look up into the sky with eyes half opened. Kenny scooped the tired Wanyamon into his arms, and Toki congratulated them on a job well done. "Thank you, Toki-san. I guess being a hero is not too bad, even if it hurts." He yawned. "I feel like I could sleep into forever right now."
As everyone went into the city, Kitt rested his eyes, beveling that Kenny, Toki, and Holly would explain everything to Leomon and Togemon, but he would not drift to sleep just yet. His eyes peeked at Skadi, who was already sound asleep. He smiled, seeing that this worn her out more as much as him before closing his eyes again. He has to thank her for helping him reach to Ultimate when they were well and rested. However, there was one question that still lingered in his mind:
Who was that Digimon he saw in his mind when he drifted out of conscious from Skadi's attack? Was he real, or not? If he was, why did he came to him in that moment? And finally, why did it feel like that he knew him somehow?
Perhaps this is something he should tell Eris and Logane about...

Indeed, this group was much worse for wear. Leomon found himself practically cradling a wounded Meicoomon, and Toki scooped up the unconscious Patamon. There was a lot that was going to need to be explained, especially with the group's strategy to keep Rosewood out of the loop, but for now?
The threat had passed. There were no more of those pieces of paper out in the wild, and Rosewood was clean of those that had been marked. The Saberleomon had returned to the wild, and the Patamon - well, he'd have to go through his own set of questioning, just to figure out his role in all of this.
"... Tch. Guess I'm going to have to get caught up in this beauracracy too, aren't I?" Doku gave a sigh, the Leomon raising an eyebrow.
"You were thinking of just walking off?"
"Relax a bit. I know what's at stake here, I'm just talking to myself." The plant was a bit abrasive, but with as much energy as he spent today, it was understandable that the already 'distant' Doku wasn't ecstatic about what was to come. "Besides, without the angel, I think I'm going to be stuck writing the report for Luminas... don't worry. I'll be sure that you'll all be rewarded for your efforts one way or another."
"That said," the Togemon tilted its head towards the city, "Let's get this wrapped up quick, so you can all get to resting."
"Sorry, little Mei... gonna have to stick with it a little while longer."
[End]
