Mission Description thread here: Striking it Rich
It was morning over the Western Flatlands. While the sun was gradually rising in the east, it hadn’t yet fully warmed up as it normally does here in late spring. A good time for everyone to get oriented. Two digimon approached the meeting point first. One a MachGaogamon wearing a khaki tunic under his chest armor, and riding on his back (ahead of the jetpack) was a large Coronamon, dressed also with a khaki jacket and a yellow scarf. Both of them wore badges featuring a golden sword and wheel, indicating they were of the 7/71st Recon – a group of solo digimon that sought to help out the digital world in any way they could. “Huh, looks like we’re a bit early.” the MachGaogamon remarked as he closed in for a landing. He knew it was the right spot, he could see the warning signs covering the abandoned mine entrance. “I guess it happens if you have a high powered jetpack and no speedometer, eh, Mr. Owen?” the Coronamon answered, jumping off his back when it was safe to do so and landed on the dusty ground. “True, I suppose.” Owen allowed. Relaxing his body and releasing the stored up energy, he de-digivolved back to his Gaomon form. “Either the others are coming on their own accord, or they’ll be riding on Gogmamon’s private Trailmon, which should be arriving soon.”Not far from where they were standing was a railroad siding. It was a bit worn and rusted, but most likely still connected to the main railway from Rustport. Gogmamon had offered transport to the others that had signed up for the mission. Owen and Rory passed on that offer, given that they could fly here from Ys. They had visited briefly to make sure everything was going fine there, and to get some information about digizoid ore from their friend Bixby, who was knowledgeable about it. However, the Gomamon didn’t want to come along, since being held in stasis in an underground lab for a long time, he would rather not return underground on a hazardous job like this. “So then, Rory, this is your first job as part of the 7/71st.” Owen addressed the orange and white lion digimon. “How are you feeling?”“Excited, but a little nervous, Mr. Owen.” Rory replied. “You’ve always told me that abandoned mines can be dangerous places, and this one sounds like it could be even more dangerous than usual…”“That’s true, and you’re right to feel like that.” Owen said, giving him a reassuring pat on the back. “But we can do this together. We’ll be needing your firelight down there after all.”“Heh, yeah. That’s one thing I’m good at doing, lightening up the place.” Rory grinned. He sat on a nearby rock next to the entrance, looking up the rail tracks. Not much was said until Owen could hear a mechanical rumbling in the distance. “That must be them now.” Owen said, and Rory confirmed it by sight as a Trailmon approached, pulling along two carriages. Soon they’d all be gathered and ready for their expedition.
(OOC: Alrighty, first up is to arrive at the meeting point outside the abandoned mine. You can come of your own accord, or be riding in the train from Rustport).

Ah yes, today was a great morning in the Western Flatlands to go exploring an abandoned mine. The first ones to arrive at the meeting point after Owen and Rory would be Rory's brothers, Luneth the Hackmon and Gemma the Gammamon, as well as Luneth's traveling companion Arlo the Angoramon. Their flying airship slash traveling bakery would land relatively close to the meeting point, as it was hard to not see the flying vessel coming from some point away. It wouldn't take long before the doors opened, and Gem came rushing out to hug Rory.
"Rory!" The cute little white dinosaur Digimon cheered as he gave Rory a big hug... which would be surprisingly painful, given how strong the little guy truly was. "Mom and Dad said I could come on this mission, too! Isn't that cool?!" The next one to exit the flying mini airship would be none other than Luneth himself.
"Gem, give him some space now," the Hackmon said with a slight smile as he approached his brother and Owen. "Owen, Brother, it's amazing to see you both again," he would say as he offered the both of them a handshake. "I hope it's alright that Gem comes along... apparently, he caught wind of the mission and begged Mother and Father to let him come along. And you know how hard it is to say no to Gem."
"Luneth, Gem, some assistance please?" Arlo's voice suddenly called out. Luneth and Gem turned back to the airship to find that the large bunny Digimon had gotten himself stuck in the door. Neither one of them could hold in their laughter, much to the Angoramon's embarrassment... which he definitely did not show. "Could you please stop laughing and pull me out?"
"Apologies, Arlo," Luneth said as he and Gem ran over and used their combined strength to successfully pull Arlo out of the doorframe. Rory and potentially Owen would have been made aware of Arlo before, just from Luneth's recollection of their adventures alone, but this would be the first time that they would formally meet. "Arlo, this is my other little brother Rory, and his instructor, Owen. Owen, Rory, this is Arlo, the one I've been traveling with all this time."
"It is a pleasure to meet you both," Angoramon said to Owen and Rory with a polite smile. "I hope I can be of some assistance during this excavation today."

Morning on the Western Flatlands was always a quiet affair with this family, especially given they sometimes had business to attend to here. It was a relatively simple assignment--scope out a mine and clear it out if need be for the sake of utilization of natural resources. Normal stuff, really. The meeting point had not been unoccupied, thankfully.
For one, it was a chance to see her grandpa, and one that was regarded quite fondly, and for the other, it was a chance to say hello to her father in-law. "Grampa Owen, Grampa Owen, hi!" Omen chirped, the Wispmon's...hand-tail seeming to wave about as enthusiastically as her words had been! "I take it these folks are coming on the mission with us? Hi, I'm Omen, I'm Owen's granddaughter!"
As for who was accompanying Omen? Well, they were a Meicrackmon draped in robes that had the heraldry of Luminas...and a little seal with a symbol denoting Ys as well. There was a small smile on her face. "...I've done my part. Please, do take care of my daughter--as well as yourselves. It's lovely to see you, but...I've stuff to do."
And refusing to elaborate further, the Meicrackmon promptly ran off. "So, what's the overall...um...rundown on this? Get in, check everything, clear it out and get out?" Omen inquired, not seeming all that bothered by her mother's timely exit.

The Trailmon rolled relentlessly throughout the Western Flatlands, its wheels chattering relentlessly against the rails. It was early morning here in the Digital World. There was barely anyone on the Trailmon besides a few Digimon sitting a few seats, some mingled and others sat in silence, looking out to the windows, taking in the view of the rising sun. But for Vergil Hoskins, he sat in the second to last row, eyes closed, his face pressed against the glass, trying to catch some extra sleep.
The soft rumbling of the train was quite calming. The vibrating motion seemed to have a lulling effect so that he could nap despite the noise. He found it rather peaceful, especially since he’s been pulling up a few all-nighters recently due to class.
Right beside him was the purple, electrifying, bundle of energy that was Amper the Pulsemon, wide awake, shaking his leg rhythmically from the excitement that was going to be his first-ever mission. It took a lot of begging from his father, Gummy the Gumdramon, to let him go since he didn’t feel like it was too early for him. But after much convincing from his Uncle Specs, saying that he’ll keep an eye on him, he’s been ecstatic ever since.
After a couple of minutes, the Trailmon began to slow down, coming to a stop. Amper hopped onto Vergil’s lap to look out of the window, seeing a few Digimon already at the meeting point. One Digimon, in particular, made his fringe stand up in excitement.
“Uncle Specs, Uncle Specs! Wake, up! We’re here!” Amper chirped, trying to shake him awake. Vergil murmured and smooshed his face closer to the window, clearly not budging. Amper poked his face some more, turning into gentle slaps. No response.
“Zappu…” Growing a bit impatient, Amper decided to use a light discharge of Petit Impulse, jolting his sleeping uncle for 2 seconds until he was wide awake and alert, and a little shaken up.
“I’m awake! I’m awake!” Vergil said in a commercially panicked tone, now fully up and ready to go.
Amper chucked and took his hand, beckoning to follow him. “C’mon, let’s go! Everyone’s here, zappu,” he said with a smile.
Once the two stepped off of the train and walked to where the meeting point was at. Vergil felt Amper let go of his hand as he began to zip past through the other Digimon to a familiar Gaomon.
“Grandpa!” The purple Pulsemon chirped as he gave Owen a hug. He recognized his signal as soon as the train pulled up, so naturally, he was happy to see him. “Guess what! Dad and Papa agreed to let me come with Uncle Specs with whatever it is you’re doing! Isn’t this exciting, zappu?”
Vergil eventually caught up with Amper, waving to Owen. “Yo, Owen,” he said while in the middle of a yawn. “Long time no see. I’m still trying to wake up. I’m not exactly a morning person most of the time.” He let out a long yawn, covering his mouth and he began to stretch to get the blood pumping.
“So what’s the run-down of this mission?” He asked. “Seeing as it’s still early, I doubt that this is another one of your camping trips.”

Not only the Trailmon, but others were arriving too. Rory saw the airship landing nearby, then braced himself as Gem came flying at him. Even then he was knocked off his feet. “Hi, Gem…” Rory said, managing to get back up. Gem said that their parents permitted them to go along with this mission too. Rory was fine with Luneth coming along, but was a bit concerned about Gem. Owen chuckled as he approached them. “Yes, after Skye questioned me about what this mission involves, I assured her that Gem would be safe here.” he said. “After all, we’re not likely to fight anything, and I’m capable of Mega evolution, so if it comes to it, I can keep you all safe.”With that said, Rory relaxed a little. Yeah, it’d take some earth shattering force to get through Owen, so the Coronamon felt safe here. Luneth then spoke up, asking if it was fine for Gem to be here. “Yeah, it’s fine. I’ll make sure to keep everyone safe, and hopefully this should be something of an adventure for the young ones.”When Owen was Gem’s age, he remembered wanting nothing more than to go off and do something exciting. Exploring a mine (with someone strong to supervise) would have been something he would have greatly appreciated. There was another digimon present in the airship, a digimon neither Owen or Rory had ever seen before. A large yellow and white yeti digimon that seemed to be stuck in the door. “...how did he get in if he can’t get out?” Rory wondered out loud. “Best not think about questions like that too much, mate.” Owen chuckled in reply. Thankfully he managed to get unstuck and introductions were made. “Good to meet you.” Owen replied, and Rory said something similar. So, it would be Luneth, Gem and Arlo accompanying them. That brought their team up to five. The next to arrive caught Owen’s attention quickly. His tail wagged as he saw her approaching. “Omen! So good to see you!” he said, offering her a hug. Rory seemed rather surprised. “...you’re a grandpa, Mr. Owen?” he asked his superior, blinking. “Yep, the family grows bigger.” Owen chuckled. Then there was the digimon that had accompanied her. Owen gave a respectful nod to her request. “Yes, I will. Nice to see you, Mae.” He didn’t take her quick departure as an insult, he was familiar with his daughter-in-law’s way of things. Then the Trailmon arrived at the mine siding. And first to emerge from its carriages was a purple digimon that headed straight for Owen. “Amper!” the Gaomon exclaimed, hugging him. “So good to see you, ya little spark of joy!”By now Rory wasn’t feeling sheepish that his own family was coming along on this expedition. It seemed that Owen’s family now matched his own in numbers. Owen smiled as Vergil followed. He noted that Vee and Gummy were absent, but understood why. Gummy was with Bezil in Ys, while Vee was with Luke in the Eastern Timberlands as far as he knew. But, given that he felt he could keep everyone safe, he was glad to have Vergil and Amper accompany them. “Well, mate, we’ve been asked here to scout out an abandoned mine that a bigshot from Rustport wants to reopen to get out some of the digizoid ore that might remain here.” Owen said in quick explanation to Vergil. “Thanks for coming along by the way, hope you’re doing fine.”After the greetings were made, Owen and Rory turned to the Trailmon. There was activity coming from the second carriage. Several digimon emerged, namely small yet strong Rookie and Champion levels, all unloading equipment. Owen noted four of them hauling out what looked like a large generator, setting it on a trolley. Then a large Drimogemon emerged from the carriage, and hauled it toward the mine entrance. Following him, there was a large digimon Owen and Rory had never seen before, resembling a monster made from stone. However, he matched the description that they had been given of their client – Gogmamon. “Ah, excellent, you all seem to know each other.” Gogmamon observed, as the group showed their obvious familiarity. “Now then. To business.”A Goblimon quickly set up a large board that appeared to be a cutaway map. Gogmamon addressed them by pointing one of his stone hands at it. “These are the schematics of this mine here, the ‘Sunny Day’ mine as it was known when it was active.” he explained. “In its day, the ore extracted from it was firstly iron, then a deposit of gold was located nearby, so it was expanded to mine that too. And, in the very last year of its operation, a vein of chrome digizoid ore was discovered, as located here at its deepest point.”Owen noted that the mine was about 200 meters deep. Not too far down, as far as mines went. “The mystery here that I’d like you all to solve, is that operations in the Sunny Day mine were completely abandoned very quickly.” Gogmamon continued. “I have worked tirelessly to try and find anyone that knew what happened, but I have been unsuccessful. I have dismissed a tunnel collapse as a possibility, because that would have ordinarily been fixed and corrected for such a valuable ore deposit. As well as flooding, since it would only be a matter of installing pumps to drain excess water away. That is why I’ve hired you all to investigate. You do not need to go as far as attempt to bring the mine back into operation, I will handle that. I only need to know what’s down there. Do you understand so far?”“I think so, it seems straightforward to me.” Owen replied. “ So you’d like us to do some recon of the place?”“Correct. Gather as much intelligence as you can. These should be of assistance to you.” he turned and waved to a Gotsumon near the Trailmon carriage. He briskly approached and distributed 4 digital cameras among them. “Be sure to take photos whenever possible of anything you think is significant. I would do it myself, but, I’m more of a business mon than an explorer, and this seems like work more suited for a team such as yourselves.”“No worries, mister.” Rory said, accepting one of the cameras and pulled its carry strap over his head, wearing it on his neck. “We’re 7/71st Recon, this is our specialty.”“I’m not aware of those numbers, but I’ll take your word on that.” Gogmamon said. “Also, these should be of assistance to you.” he motioned to another worker Goblimon, who pulled along a trolley full of other mining safety equipment, including helmets with lights and clear perspex visors, first aid kits, digging tools and other pieces of equipment that a miner would be expected to carry. Everyone was free to get what they needed.

It turned out that Gem was stronger than what anyone anticipated, since he was able to knock Rory off of his feet with that sudden rush hug, and Rory was in his champion form during it. At least the Gammamon let go so that the Coronamon could be able to get back up. "You look so cool in that form, Rory! You even gots a yellow scarf like Papa does!" Gem said, in awe over seeing how cool his older brother looked.
Luneth and Rory both had concerns about letting children join in on the journey, but Owen assured the both of them that there wouldn't likely be any fighting in this mine, and Owen could evolve to Mega if he truly had to. "Well that's a relief to hear," Luneth said with a slight smile. "Plus I can evolve into the Ultimate form if I truly needed to. Owen's correct; we should not have much to worry about on this journey."
While Luneth and Gem were helping pull Arlo out, the Angoramon could hear Rory ask how he was even able to get into the vehicle in the first place. A slight blush appeared on Arlo's cheeks moments before he was successfully gotten unstuck from the doorway. "I do not typically get stuck in my own ship like that," Arlo admitted. "Also, something you should know about Angoramons: we have exceptionally good hearing."
And then two of Owen's grandchildren showed up next. First was a Digimon that none of the three had seen before, a fox-like Digimon with a red cloak and a hand for a tail. Dropping her off was a Meicrackmon wearing a cloak that Luneth and Gem could recognize as originating from Luminas City, the city their mother was from, before she quickly ran off. Next to arrive was a human with dark-colored skin, accompanied by a purple Pulsemon that appeared to be Gem's age.
Of course Gem was beside himself with the fact that two Digimon around his age had shown up, so he took the opportunity to fly up to them both and introduce himself. "Hi! Hi there! My name's Gem, and the Hackmon and Coronamon are my two older brothers! Mister Owen is your grandpa? That's so cool! He's my teacher back at Rosewood!" Gem was definitely coming off a bit strong here, but could you blame him? The little guy was just so excited!
Then Gem took a look at Vergil himself, and he looked a bit... confused. "Um, excuse me, sir?" Gem asked as he flew up to him. "I've never seen a human like you before... are you really a human? Or is that just a really bad sunburn you got?"
"Humans come in all different kinds of shapes and colors, Gem," Luneth told his little brother before facing Vergil. "Apologies for my brother, the only human he sees on a regular basis is my father's Tamer." Luneth extended a paw towards Vergil. "My name's Luneth, it is a pleasure to meet you."
After introductions had been made, the final ones to arrive would be coming from the second carriage of the Trailmon. Several Rookie and Champion level Digimon, joined by who seemed to be their leader, a Gogmamon. He basically explained what the Sunny Day mine contained, and requested for the mystery of why the mine was abandoned so quickly to be solved. "So no possibility of a cave-in or flooding... I cannot think of a reason why a mine like this would be abandoned so fast, aside from the possibility of a wild Digimon. Is it possible that that is the case, Gogmamon?" There was also one more possibility that Arlo had in mind, but he felt that it would be impossible to find something as rare as Sun Digicite.
Gogmamon then handed four cameras to the group to take pictures of what they find down there. Arlo would be the one of the camera holders, as Luneth was quadrupedal, and Gem was still a child. He and his group also handed the others various mining equipment and tools that would be needed. "A mining hat! So cool!" Gem cheered as he put his hat on, alongside Luneth and Arlo putting on theirs.
"I believe this is all we need," Luneth said as he and his group had their things like a first aid kit and digging tools. "Shall we get to exploring the mine?"

Mae always figured her father-in-law to be an understanding sort. Such was why he was so highly trusted by the Meicoomon, after all! Either way, there was still people to arrive, like a human that Omen was fairly certain she had...heard of, yes, but not met, as well as a purple Pulsemon that called Owen-
"...Grandpa?" The Wispmon repeated, to herself in a mimicry of Amper's voice. She took a careful few steps closer to Amper, looking him over carefully. "...Are you my cousin? Owen's my grandpa too--my name's Omen, it's nice to meet you!" She chirped in her own voice. Then she looked to Gem, "Hi, look at my cousin! I have one of those!"
Now, the question towards Vergil was something Vergil himself could answer.
Wait oh gosh oh heck oh drat the big overseer Digimon got unstuck from the door oh gosh oh golly he was lumbering this way oh geez. In all seriousness, Gogmamon was very to-the-point in explaining the rundown of the mine, as well as the apparent history and mystery. "200 meters...That's...yeah, that's really not too deep..." So why was it abandoned so fast? Omen's tail yoinked her camera up, before she promptly realized something as she set the camera around her neck.
She only had one hand.
"...Would it be considered a waste to armor digivolve just to carry stuff? I'm a bit short on limbs..." Omen was at least able to get a first aid pack and a hat/visor.

Looks like more people joined on this expedition than Vergil initially thought. Which was a good thing, considering it has been a while since he last took on a mission. Ever since he, Vee, and Gummy went their own ways a year ago (in Digi years), Vergil has been stuck on desk duty at AEGIS, so this would be a good opportunity to get back in the groove.
Plus, this would be a good opportunity for Amper to make some friends. Kids like him need to develop important social and emotional life skills along with a sense of belonging, and what better way than to start here.
After hugging his grandpa Owen, Amper was approached by a Whispmon. His green eyes looked quizzical for a moment as she paced around him carefully. Amper responded by doing the same thing, his ahoge twitching as he analyzed her. “Cousin…” he repeated. Recognizing the familiar data signal within her, his characteristic ahoge sparked a bit, hugging her. “Cousin!”
Amper grinned ear to ear, happily nuzzling his cheek against hers. “Oh my gosh, I didn’t know that I had any cousins, zappu,” he chirped. “I’m Amper, and it’s nice to meet you too, zappu!” He hopped on both feet, barely able to contain his excitement. “Grandpa Owen, Uncle Specs! I have a cousin, zappu!”
Gammamon their age flew up to them and introduced himself as Gem. Amper gasped. “Ooooh, my grandpa’s your teacher? That’s so cool, zappu! I hope we can be in the same class together one day. I’m still too young for my parents to enroll me in school, zappu.”
The furry Pulsemon was aware that he was born merely a month ago, and yet, he has experienced so many new things—from here to the human world. He hopes to learn and understand more about the stuff around him when he gets old enough.
Amper then turned his attention to the large Angoramon. His eyes twinkled at the sheer size of Digimon as he darted toward him. "Woooah! Fluffy, zappu!" Without warning, he stretched his arms to hug the Angoramon, only to find himself partially sinking into his fur, before pulling himself out, giggling.
And then there was Gem’s question to Vergil. He blinked. Once, twice, three times, then put his hand over his chin, thinking to himself for a few moments. The Hackmon introduced himself as Luneth and tried to apologize on his brother’s behalf, but the young man wasn’t the slightest bit offended.
“Nice to meet you Luneth. I’m Vergil,” he said, shaking his paw. He turned his attention back to Gem. "Well, to answer your question, little guy, yeah, I’m a human. And your brother’s right: we humans come in different sizes and pigments of skin color, or as we refer to as ‘race. ’Why is that, you’re wondering?” He smiled. “Because much like your god here, Yggdrasil, I think, our creator thought that things would be more interesting if the world was occupied by many kinds of people. That applies to Digimon as well. Even though the both of us are from two different worlds, it doesn’t change the fact that there's a reason all of us exist: we exist because we were wanted. As to who created us humans, it was God.” He scratched the back of his head bashfully. “Well, that’s what some of us humans believe. All of us are free to think as we like. My bad for going on a tangent. Did that make any sense to you?” He said.
Amper stood there in silence, completely in awe of his uncle’s explanation. It was a bit difficult to comprehend. After all, to him, his uncle Vergil looked like some of the humans he’d seen, like Miyu for example, only his skin was dark. Tsukaimon for instance is literally a Patamon, but purple, much like him, so that was how he would rationalize it for now. Now he was more interested to see other humans that looked like Vergil.
After the introductions, Vergil turned to see a couple of Digimon emerging from the second carriage, most of the unloading equipment. One of them began to approach them, a Digimon embedded with rocks and minerals. Yep, that was their client alright—Gogmamon.
Gogmamon then gave the rundown of the mine and its history, beginning to speculate as to why it was suddenly abandoned. Their mission objective is to explore the Sunny Day mine and investigate what caused the entire excavation team to abandon it. Vergil’s eyebrow was raised. “So wait…the workers abandoned the mine without giving a reason as to why?” He added. “That seems pretty suspicious. Assuming that they were contracted to work here, there would have to be a pretty good reason as to why they would pack up and leave. Or alternatively…are they missing?”
Gogmamon then handed each group one camera. Vergil accepted it and pulled the carry strap over his head and around his neck. He and Amper then went into the trolley full of equipment to acquire whatever supplies that they needed. “Woah! A hard hat, zappu!” Amper exclaimed as he put it on his head. Vergil didn't bother to grab one of the mining helmets, grabbing the furry Pulsemon’s attention. “Why aren’t you putting on one of the hard hats, Uncle Specs?”
“Eh, I don’t wanna mess up my hair,” Vergil replied. “You know how long it took me to get my hair done this morning? Besides, your uncle's gotta look good.”
Amper moved his finger horizontally back and forth, reprimanding his uncle. “Doesn’t matter, zappu. Papa told me beforehand to put safety first before anything else, appearance as well. And that would include your hair, wouldn’t you say?”
Vergil started to laugh nervously; he was a little taken aback by how Amper conducted himself. He saw a bit of Gummy in him just now, minus the insults. With a sigh, he put his mining helmet on, and gave a weak thumbs-up, cringing on the inside.
“Safety first, zappu!” Amper said, returning the gesture.

Rory grinned at his younger brother, despite almost having the wind knocked out of him a moment ago. “Heh, thanks. Dad gave me the scarf himself.” he had pondered wearing it as a bandana like Owen, but that was impossible with the flame on his forehead. He was a little embarrassed to be overheard by Arlo, but would take note not to make remarks like that again.
Owen meanwhile was paying more attention to his grandchildren. He was delighted to see Amper and Omen get along so well. And felt a sense of pride that his own grandchildren seemed to be growing up so strong and healthy. Rory noticed too when Omen started talking about cousins.
“Uh… Mr. Owen, what’s a ‘cousin’?” Rory asked, quietly.
“Well, it’s someone who is the child of one of your parents’ siblings.” Owen answered. “So since Amper’s dad Bezil is the brother of Omen’s mum Hasenya, that means they’re cousins.”
“Ohh… okay!” Rory said, his face brightening with understanding. “So if, for example, I have a kid, and Luneth has a kid, then they’d be cousins too?”
“Yep, that’s right.” Owen confirmed. He turned back to Amper. “Well, even if it’s up to Gummy and Bezil in the end, you’d be most welcome to be in my class at Rosewood, mate.” he said. He had a mind to nudge Bezil to get his consent to that, but of course he didn’t want to dictate to his son when the right moment would be. Especially that Amper was born only a month ago, he’d probably need a bit of time to mature enough to prepare for combat and survival classes.
Vergil was then asked an odd question by Gem. Neither Owen or Rory really noticed that about the human. In their minds, someone who was not a digimon, was 5-6 feet in height, wore clothes, had fur only on their head, and carried a digivice was a human. The rest was as trivial as to why Owen had blue fur and why Rory had orange.
But Vergil mentioned another word – “race”. Owen noted that was probably important to humans, so he’d probably ask Vergil to explain it to him later. But he still listened to the rest of the explanation, as did Rory.
“Ohh, I think I get it.” the Coronamon said. “Yeah, we digimon have that too. I’m a Vaccine attribute, Luneth is a Data attribute, and Gem here is a Virus attribute, but they don’t seem to mean anything that separates us, we’re still all brothers.”
Once the introductions were done, Gogmamon would address their questions.
“A wild digimon being down there that would cease operations could be a possibility… if there was a large amount of them that threatened the work crew.” Gogmamon mused at Arlo’s question. “If that’s the case, and you encounter signs of occupation by wild digimon, do what you can to take photos of them and return to the surface at once, I don’t want you to be overwhelmed if that’s what we’re looking at here.”
Omen asked if it would be a waste to evolve to use her camera. Owen considered, then shrugged. “As long as you feel comfortable using it, Omen, even if you have to evolve to use it, that won’t be a waste. Any clue you pick up could be useful.”
Gogmamon then addressed Vergil's question. "That I'm unsure of as well. I'm hoping we can find clues early on though. There should be an operations floor with records of which miners were on shift in that last day, that's what we'll look for first."
Vergil seemed a bit hesitant about putting on a hard hat. Thankfully Amper talked him into it. That made Owen even more proud of his grandson.
Between the two of them, Owen and Rory put on some mining hats as well, ensuring the lights worked. Rory also took a pickaxe and shovel tool, thinking they might be handy to have in the mine.
When everyone was ready, Gogmamon would lead them into the mine entrance. It was large enough so that Gogmamon could fit relatively easily, and the main tunnel was short, but long enough so that the daylight from outside soon faded, and their only light sources were their helmets (and naturally glowing light from the digimon that produced them, like Rory's fires) Soon they would encounter the crew that had hauled the generator into the mine in the first place.
“Assuming all the wiring is still intact, this generator should power the systems of the mine.” Gogmamon explained. “We did some preliminary exploration earlier and of course the old generator is kaput. But hopefully this new one should be a sufficient substitute.”
Rory was rather excited to see what would happen. Owen a bit more hesitant. If it didn’t work, then that would make their task a little more hazardous, so he hoped for the best.
“Well then, moment of truth here…” Gogmamon said, and gave the signal to switch the generator on. There was the growl of its ignition, then an increasing mechanical whir as its functions sprang to life. Owen and Rory paid close attention to their surroundings, and, to their relief, everything so far was going as planned. The mine lights flashed before steadily glowing, filling the operations floor with illumination. Fans stirred to life, shaking off the accumulated dust and produced a light breeze around them as the ventilation systems activated. And, there was a loud clang as well as the sound of whirring machinery from the elevator shaft as the platform returned to its home level.
“Excellent!” Gogmamon exclaimed with delight. “Now that we have a bit of light down here we can get to work… now, this being the operations floor, we can look for clues as to why this place shut down in the first place. I imagine there would be some kind of record of what went on? Of interest being the last day.”
There was an excited call from what appeared to be the old foreman’s office. “Mr. Gogmamon! I’ve found some old records here!” called a Gotsumon. At once he brought them out and held them up for Gogmamon to read, flipping through the papers until he was told to stop.
“There it is, the final day of operations…” Gogmamon said, reading what was written carefully. He frowned as he finished. “All miners accounted for… immediate cessation of operations, Sunny Day mine closed indefinitely. Reason… well now, how uncouth.”
“What does it say?” Owen asked, curiously.
“Given the young ones you have present, you might not want to say it out loud.” Gogmamon said, and passed the paper to Owen. He and Rory read, and invited others who were mature enough to understand the nature of cussing.
’FUCK THIS PLACE!!’
“...charming.” Rory remarked.
“And unhelpful.” Gogmamon continued. “Well, the fact that all workers were accounted for in the last operational shift is good to know. That rules out a disaster occurring. But it raises other questions. If the mine foreman wrote something like that on an official document, that implies there may have been some sort of worker dispute, but to abandon a digizoid ore deposit like this? There’s more to it than that…”
While he was musing, Owen’s eyes were drawn to a symbol on another document that he recognized. He grew rather still, so much that Rory noticed.
“Mr. Owen? Is something the matter?” the Coronamon asked.
“That symbol…” Owen said, pointing to a starburst with ten sides, each a different color. “That’s the DWR’s insignia.”
“Oh…” was all Rory could say. He knew that Owen and his own mother Skye among others were originally soldiers that served the ‘Digital World Republic’. “Is that… bad?”
“It could be.” Owen frowned. “Toward the end, the DWR turned all its capacity from peace to war. Some kind of conflict might have occurred down here. But, still, it explains why everything seems to be working after all this time. They built things to last.”
“Well then. The way forward seems to be via that elevator.” Gogmamon said next. “It might be good to look around for further clues while my engineers ensure it’s safe for use.”
“Ah, yes, of course.” Owen said, but it was clear he was dwelling on something that bothered him. He’d be happy to talk if asked, though. Rory meanwhile immediately took the initiative and used his firelight to explore the dark areas of the operations floor for anything of note.
The floor was strewn with everything one would expect from an abandoned mine. Rusting machinery, old tools, trackworks for mining carts, mining carts themselves, and various other things.

"You gotta meet my other friends too if you do come to my school," Gem was saying to Amper. "They're both in the same class as me! Their names are Kohaku and Ruri, and they're brother and sister. They're my bestest friends in Rosewood! Also, why do you keep saying 'zappu'? What does it mean? Should I try saying it?"
Gem blinked a bit when Omen and Amper started talking about being "cousins." It was a concept that Gem thought he heard Adrian talk about once or twice, but the little Gammamon didn't really understand what it meant. He overheard Rory asking Owen about it though, so it made Gem feel a bit better about not knowing what a cousin was. "You two are so lucky," Gem said to Amper and Omen. "I want a cousin!"
Then Amper got his first look at the big lug of fur that was Arlo. His eyes were practically sparkling as he looked up at the big Angoramon before Amper suddenly began to hug him, partially sinking into Arlo's fur in the process. Arlo wasn't quite sure how to respond to this sudden hug initially, but he decided to just roll with it and he hugged the little Pulsemon back. "Well hello there. Aren't you a cute little fella?" Arlo said to Amper. "My name's Arlo. I travel around with that Hackmon there in a moving bakery. You're welcome to ride inside my fur if you like, provided that you get your uncle's permission first." Arlo truly loved children, especially really happy kids like Amper and Gem. He didn't mind having a few passengers inside his fluff if it made them happy. Next came Vergil's response to Gem's question. He explained that humans referred to their skin colors as "race," so that humans had more variety in the human world world like Digimon did in theirs, to put it simply. Luneth, Arlo and Gem all understood it better when Rory compared it to how Digimon had different attributes. The three brothers all had different attributes, but that didn't make them any less brothers in the end.
"Yeah, I think I get it," Gem confirmed to Vergil. "Humans are really cool sometimes!" He then turned to Rory. "Um... I'm a 'virus' attribute? Is that a bad thing, Rory?" Gogmamon then addressed the group's questions. It could possibly be a wild Digimon, or perhaps a lot of them, that caused the workers to abandon the mine. Or conversely, as Vergil suggested, they could've gone missing. Gogmamon said that there should be an operations floor with records from the last day that they can look through. After Vergil had been convinced to put his hard hat on, Gem couldn't help but turn to Luneth and Arlo and do the exact same thumbs up gesture. "Safety first!"
Now that the group had their equipment, they followed Gogmamon into the mine entrance. As they were walking, Gem flew up next to Gogmamon to ask him some questions like kids tended to do. "I never saw a Digimon made outta crystals and rocks before, mister... what's it like? Is it hard having rocky skin like that? What kinda rocks are those on your face? Do you eat food like other Digimon, or do you eat rocks?" The group then got to a point where the sunlight didn't shine through to the cave, the only light source being from the helmets, Rory's fire, and Gem's subtle glowing thanks to his photon powers. Gogmamon gave the signal to turn the new generator on and, thankfully, it was a success, as the place was now illuminated thanks to the mine lights. The group could now get to work and investigate.
But then suddenly a Gotsumon came and announced that he had found some old records, handing them to Gogmamon to read. He found the records for the final day of operations for the Sunny Day mine, as well as the reason for the place closing. However, he did not want to say it out loud thanks to all the children here, so he simply passed the papers to Owen and allowed anyone mature enough who wanted to to read it.
"Oh my..." Arlo gasped, covering Amper's eyes if he were still riding in the Angoramon's fur.
"That is the type of phrase that would end with soap in the mouth if your parents hear you say it."
"What? What does it say? Let me seeeee!"
"Not until you're older, Gem."
Gogmamon had a point though; that statement was utterly useless. A phrase like that could've been done thanks to a worker dispute, or dangerous conditions, or even just because the workers were not paid enough. Whatever the reason may be, it was the group's job to find out what it could be. Gogmamon then announced that there was an elevator that seemed to be the way forward, and suggested that everyone look around to try and find more clues.
Thanks to Arlo's good hearing, he overheard the conversation with Owen and Rory about the DWR insignia, explaining that that's why the things in here worked after all this time. He had heard stories of the DWR, but to be in contact with something made during that time... it chilled Arlo's digicore. He would be sure to be more careful in this mine now.
Arlo could see that Owen looked a bit unnerved after discovering that, so he would walk up to the Gaomon and try to talk to him about it. "I overheard that conversation you had with Rory about the DWR symbol on those documents," he would quietly say. "Luneth's told me about the DWR, about you and his mother being in the 7/71st. I could not help but notice that you look uneasy because of it. Would you like to share what's on your mind with me?"
Meanwhile, both Luneth and Gem were hard at work observing the area to find anything of note. But as far as they were concerned... there wasn't much here? It was just the typical stuff you would find in a mine: like mine carts and cart tracks and the like. Luneth did look inside said mine carts to see if anything was out of the ordinary, but they were all practically empty. Was Luneth just missing something?

Okay, good. She was able to effectively operate the camera with her one limb as it were, but evolving was also a safe bet if she needed it. Good to know.
"Well, yes. I guess I'm lucky--I don't have any influence over whether or not I get cousins so it's nice to have one." The Wispmon mused. She spared Vergil a once-over. "Oooh...your hair's interesting. It kind of reminds me of my wires at my perfect level a little bit. Very neat. Based, as my other grandfather says."
...Omen had been in her fair share of missions in the past, and...honestly, this seemed like the one time that everyone had seemed to gather under happy pretenses for the most part, even if the case of the mine was starting to become more and more mysterious by the minute as they proceeded into it. Omen waddled over to the logs. And witnessed what the final day's record was.
"Oh, that word. My mom usually yells that when she gets a vision of a bad future that she has to avert. I've also heard Aunt Miyako yell it at Uncle Hisato and Uncle Naoki too. Apparently it's a Power Word in the human world. A true spectacle of the human tongue if I do say so myself, very exquisite but liable to cause emotional damage when put in the wrong hands. Also, soap tastes awful, so never say it."
There was a quick pause. "The fact that the DWR was involved introduces an element of unpredictability into this, because from what I am given to understand thanks to family histories, the DWR's twilight years were basically able to be described as 'allover the place' due to the shift from peace towards war. It's basically a sign to be prepared for anything from here on out."
Given Omen was a source of light herself? She was peering all around to see if there was anything of note. Or if they needed to go deeper.

From gauging with all of the interactions, it looks like this expedition mission was going to be smooth sailing, which eased Vergil’s mind. For Amper’s sake, the last thing he would want was to put his nephew in any peril or danger, which is why he didn’t see any objections with him going along with him, despite Gummy’s initial reluctance. If anything were to happen, he trusted that Owen would be able to shut it down immediately.
Gem smiled warmly at Gem’s proposal, but then blinked confusingly while tilting his head, a bit puzzled at his question. “Zappu? What do you mean? I’m kind of confused, zappu,” he said.
“Yeah, don’t think about it too hard,” Vergil commented, coming over. “It’s a verbal tic, so usually he ends phrases with that. Why? I have no idea.”
Vergil was then approached by Omen, who complimented his dreadlocks, comparing it to wires. “Uhh, thanks. Usually my partner Digimon says that my hair looks like a mop, so that analogy is a nice change of pace…I think.” Her last sentence caught him by surprise, making the young man burrow his eyebrows. “Oh no, the young are learning my people’s slang…” he muttered under his breath, undoubtedly terrified.
Meanwhile, Amper encountered the Angoramon named Arlo, who happily reciprocated the hug he gave him. “Hi there! My name is Amper, zappu! I’m fluffy like you too, zappu!” He gestured to his mane-like tuft of white fur on his chest. Hearing that he could ride in his fur, the purple Pulsemon’s eyes sparked with excitement. “I can?!” He turned to Vergil, the human only giving a thumbs up in approval. “Alright, zappu!”
After answering Gem’s question, Vergil was happy that his explanation made sense. He was initially unsure if they would even understand it since Digimon and humans have vastly different societies, but seeing that the Gammamon’s question came from a place of curiosity; he knew from the expression on his face, so he knew he had to make an elegant and simple response. Heck, he was genuinely surprised at how fast Rory was able to understand and applied it to themselves. Diversity is one of humanity’s greatest strengths and seeing how quickly Digimon embraced that idea was simply fascinating.
Once the introductions were all said and done, Gogmamon began to address the questions they had. Vergil simply crossed his arms. The more he thought about it, the more it started to make less sense. Workers wouldn’t just up and leave their jobs without giving their management a reason as to why, so something must have happened, and the only way to find out is to explore into the depths of the mine and investigate. After equipping the items provided to them, Amper happily hopped into Arlo’s fur as a passenger, his head being the only thing sticking out. Vergil couldn’t help but chuckle and shake his head. Once everyone was ready, they followed Gogamamon into the mine. Vergil was the last one to enter, opting to stick behind everyone.
As they descended deeper and deeper into the main tunnel, sunlight slowly began to dim and fade away, leaving only a few light sources such as their helmets, the blue lights from inside Vergil’s collar, and the natural glowing light from certain Digimon in the group to light their path forward.
Coming into contact with the crew from earlier, Gogamamon gave the go-ahead to turn on the generator they hauled in, bringing the operations floor to life. Amper made a sound of amazement. “Wow, that big doohickey thing turned all the lights on, zappu!” The Pulsemon exclaimed in excitement. Now they wouldn’t have to investigate in the dark.
One of Gogmamon’s workers announced that he found some records from the foreman’s office, containing the final entry before the place mysteriously shut down. He hesitated to state the reason since there were children present, so he passed it to Owen. Vergil leaned over to read it.
“Well…that’s flattering.” Vergil remarked.
“What does it say, Uncle Specs?” Amper asked, trying to take a peek from Arlo’s hand but to little avail, his eyes being the only thing visible. “I wanna know, I wanna know, zappu.” Vergil knew that he couldn’t outright tell him what the last sentence said, so instead of just telling him no, he opted for something clever.
“Let me answer that question with another question.” Vergil crouched down so he was almost eye level with the purple Pulsemon; Amper’s eyes widened. “Do you know how to read yet?” He smirked.
Amper rolled his eyes up in thought before turning back to Vergil. “Uhhhhh, no.” He replied
“Whelp, then I’m afraid I cannot divulge its secrets to you. Maybe when you save up on reading glasses, I will. ”
Amper puffed up his cheeks and frowned; he did not appreciate being teased.
As everyone went off to conduct their own investigation until the elevator was safe to use, Vergil used his headlight to explore the dark areas of the floor to check for anything of note. So far he saw nothing of note on his end—only tools and machinery that you would typically find in a mine. Nothing seemed to be out of place.
Sighing and turning off his light, he made his way back to Owen, Arlo, and Omen who were in the middle of a conversation. Sitting on a nearby boulder by himself, Vergil would make note of Owen’s expression. He could tell that something was up, but didn’t want to intrude, remaining where he was at. Amper on the hand recognized the signal that Owen pointed to on the document.
“Ohh! I remember that shape, zappu. I saw it on the sleeve on Ogremon, the one that tried to kidnap me, but his symbol was crossed out, zappu.” He looked up to Owen. “What does that mean, grandpa?”

Gem asked Rory if him being a virus attribute was a bad thing. “Not at all, I know a few decent virus attributes”. Rory replied recalling classmates and acquaintances he had been fond of. “Impmon, Guilmon, Gazimon, Wormmon… and I’ve met vaccine attributes that are just jerks. Attribute doesn’t matter when it comes to the person.”
“Hm? Oh…” Gogmamon seemed a little taken aback by Gem’s questions, but supposed he had the time to answer the young digimon on their way into the mine. “Well, I suppose some tasks are more difficult for me than others, hence why I have hired help for matters like that. Other than that, I get my energy from the sunlight. I have no need of food. And I rather like it here in the Western Flatlands where sunlight is plentiful. But on the other hand, there’s always too much of a good thing, hence why I enjoy it in caves for when I’ve had enough.”
When they reached the operations floor and activated it, there was the matter of the operational records. Rory had to snicker at Omen’s anecdote about how she found out about that word. He might have had a similar source as to where he found it. And Amper’s reaction was funny too, Owen smiled at him fondly.
“You’ll find out about it in time, mate, like your cousin said, it’s a word of power that shouldn’t be used lightly.” the Gaomon said to his grandson, playfully.
As they scoured the room to search for things, Arlo had overheard Owen and approached to ask him about the DWR and its significance on their investigation. Owen hesitated as he found the words to reply, knowing that Amper was listening too. Amper asked what the symbol meant, and Owen was surprised to hear that he recognized it.
Omen provided a good introduction to the subject, and Owen didn't find the need to elaborate further from what she said. But he still wanted to say something to back it up.
“Yes, it's as your cousin said. It’s the symbol of the Digital World Republic, or DWR as it was known commonly.” Owen explained patiently. “In a time long ago, I was a soldier that was a part of it. It’s gone now, but some digimon have memories of it, and they were very dangerous in the end too.” Apparently Amper had encountered an Ogremon that wore a crossed out symbol that tried to kidnap him. The Gaomon had heard of that incident, and was glad that Amper and Vergil had got out of it fairly well. Next, he answered Arlo.
“I’m probably just being paranoid, just, that I know the DWR used to operate this mine makes me less comfortable about bringing my grandkids and Skye’s children down here to explore it.” the Gaomon admitted. After saying it out loud though, he felt a small weight lift off his shoulders somehow. “But it should all be fine. You’re a tough little guy aren’t you, Amper? And Omen’s held her own, so I’ve heard. Besides, it’s not like there’s a full assault squadron hiding behind every broom closet with a DWR symbol on it, is there?”
“Maybe Gogmamon might know what to do about it, Mr. Owen?” Rory suggested as he returned from his search, overhearing. “The DWR had a few mines in this area, right? He might know about it.”
“That’s a good idea, Rory.” Owen said, then walked over to Gogmamon to catch his attention. “Mr. Gogmamon, have you dealt with mines previously operated by the DWR before?” Owen asked their client.
“Hm… yes, one or two. No particular problems arose with bringing them back into operation though.” Gogmamon answered. “In fact they were easy to get back online now that I think about it, their technology was built to last, and they weren’t yet finished with their operations back then since it all seemed to stop abruptly, much like this one.”
“Yeah, that was probably down to the war they had in the end.” Rory remarked. Owen said nothing, his involvement with that was all in the past. “Oh yeah, Mr. Owen, I found a couple of things. This helmet for one thing. It still works.”
As Gogmamon turned to talk to another worker, Rory held up the hard plastic helmet and switched the light on at an empty spot on the floor. Owen was surprised that the light was a vivid blue.
“Built to last indeed.” Owen remarked as Rory turned it off. “Might be good to keep it around in case we need a backup. And what’s the other thing?”
“Over here, I found a notice board.” Rory said, leading them to a large corkboard with tatters of old paper attached to it. Most were too faded to read or had no useful information on them, but one paper stood out, written in bold black official looking text, accompanied by a DWR symbol.
“BY ORDER OF THE SUPREME COUNCIL, ALL EXPLOSIVES WITHIN DECOMISSIONED MINES SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY REQUISITIONED BY THE MILITARY. NON-COMPLIANCE SHALL BE DEALT WITH IN SEVERITY.”
Owen read the sign with a frown. He recognized that order and why it was given. As the war that tore the DWR apart went on, set piece battles turned to total war, and non-essential mines were stripped of their equipment. Even in the end, he himself was fighting with explosives sourced from mines not relevant to the war effort. That in itself was unusual, a digizoid mine full of vital material for arms and armor wouldn’t be given up easily.
“Well, at least that means we won’t find any unused dynamite down here, right, Mr. Owen?” Rory suggested, seeing it as a good thing.
“I suppose so.” Owen replied. He looked around to see if anyone had found anything else in the area. There would be a poster of note near the elevator shaft if anyone was looking there. A symbol of a crescent moon with an arrow pointing to a symbol of a sun, with no words to accompany it.
Speaking of the elevator, eventually it would start up again, bringing up the safety team tasked with ensuring it was safe to operate. It wouldn't be long before they'd be on their way further, it seemed.

"'Based'?" Gem asked after hearing Omen say that word. He looked over to Vergil, as he was the one that Omen was talking to and seemed to understand what it meant. "What does 'based' mean, Vergil?"
Gem was equally as confused as Amper was. How was he not hearing the thing he was saying at the end of his sentences? Luneth and Arlo were particularly confused by this as well. Vergil explained that it was a verbal tic that Amper had, and he didn't know why the Pulsemon did it to begin with. As for Gem's question to Rory, his older brother explained that attributes didn't matter when it came to who a Digimon was. "Then what do attributes do?" Gem asked. He still wasn't quite getting it...
An adorable scene was playing out with Arlo and Amper, the latter showing that he was fluffy just like the former by pointing to the tuft of white fur on his chest. "I can see that," Arlo said with a smile. "I guess that just means we'll have to be fluffy together for the time being, hm?" The Pulsemon would then hop into Arlo's fur like a passenger, only his head sticking out of the Angoramon's white furred belly. Luneth couldn't help but laugh at the sight of that.
"It looks like you've made a little friend, Arlo."
"It seems that you are correct," Arlo said as he patted Amper's head. The Angoramon thought back to his past, about all the discussions with his late fiance Renna about the kind of children they'd have together, about the kind of family they'd raise. Arlo had always dreamed of letting one of his own kin ride around in his fur like Amper was currently doing, and he couldn't help but daydream about what might've been as the group kept walking. Amper would find Arlo's fur to be VERY comfortable, which was good considering that he was stuck in place due to the thickness of it.
While they walked down, Gem had asked Gogmamon a barrage of questions, of which he was able to happily answer. The rocks made it difficult for Gogmamon to do certain tasks, hence why he hires help for such thing like that. He also told the Gammamon that he got his energy from sunlight rather than food. "You don't eat food? My dad's partner says plants eat sunlight too, called photo... photo... uh... pho-to-sensitive..." Gem said, trying to say the word "photosynthesis" to no avail. "Does that make you a plant? Can other Digimon eat sunlight, too?"
Once they got down to the operations floor and Owen showed the group the reason given from the workers for leaving, Omen said that her mom uses that word when she has visions of a bad future, explaining it was a power word that did great emotional damage. Gem and Amper were both equally upset that they couldn't figure out what it said, as Gem crossed his arms and puffed his cheeks much like Amper was doing. But there was one thing that stood out in Luneth's mind. "Omen, you said your mother could see the future? I was not aware that Digimon could have such an ability like that..."
As Arlo walked up to Owen to ask about the DWR, he could tell that Owen was a bit hesitant to say anything about it. Perhaps it was because of Amper taking a ride with Arlo at that point in time. However, it appeared that Amper recognized this symbol, as an Ogremon with this symbol crossed out on its sleeve had tried to kidnap him in the past. "What?!" Arlo gasped as he looked down at Amper. Someone tried to kidnap him... and he was very calm about the whole thing! Just what happened with Amper? And why would someone want to kidnap him?
Owen then addressed Arlo's question. He said that the fact that he knows the DWR used to operate this mine made him feel uncomfortable about getting his grandson and Skye's children along. "That's a valid concern, I believe. I had hesitations of letting Gem come along, myself..." Saying it out loud appeared to put Owen more at ease though, which made Arlo smile a bit as well. "I have seen Luneth fight before, he is a very capable warrior. We will be fine, Owen. I can promise you that."
After Owen went to talk with the Gogmamon, Arlo decided to head over to Amper's uncle, Vergil. Since he was getting along with the Pulsemon well, the Angoramon felt that he should try to mingle with the human he was with, as well. "I assume you have not found anything of interest yet? Also, Amper here mentioned that an Ogremon tried to kidnap him once before... one with a crossed-out DWR logo on his sleeve. It is not something I need to be worried about, is it?"
While Luneth and Gem were searching around, they would be distracted by a bright and vivid blue light. They both turned around to see their brother Rory with a helmet that was shining a very vivid blue light. "I've never seen a helmet that gave off that kind of light before," Luneth said as he and Gem joined up with Owen and Rory. "I agree, we should keep it just in case."
Rory then found a notice board, leading the group over to it. It was an official DWR notice from the Supreme Council, stating that all explosives for decommissioned mines would be handed over to the military. Luneth noticed that Owen wasn't looking very thrilled about this notice. "Owen... are you okay? We can take a break if this is making you upset in any way."
During this time, Gem had actually wandered off towards the elevator. It was there that he noticed the poster. A crescent moon pointing towards a sun. "Ohhhhh..." Gem muttered as he extended a claw out to touch the poster.

Now, what did based mean? Omen had pondered this, like many others, but unlike many others, Omen was Omen, and therefore built different. "It means what you wish it to mean." That was what it's based on. Easy.
With regards to Luneth's question? While Omen took a note of the strange helmet light--it was sort of pretty...She figured she could at least provide an answer there. "She can--All Rasielmon are able to divine an infinite number of futures, yet my mother's...form of the ability seems to be much stronger. And much less voluntary. She's confessed that she actually hates it because she feels like a slave to it. She's...seen the deaths of a lot of people." Too many, in her honest thoughts.
"I guess the main thing that'll separate this mine from the others is what caused it to stop abruptly--because we have either the DWR fracturing, or...whatever else might arise from this." No matter what, there had to be a reason.
They'd find it soon.
